<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ricky-gervais">Ricky Gervais</a> torched the winners of the 67th Grammy Awards who used their time on the show to give political speeches about things like DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), transgender issues, and illegal immigrants. 
In the post on <a href="https://x.com/rickygervais/status/1886361303268094204">X</a> on Monday, the 63-year-old comedian and actor shared a screenshot of the message he gave celebrities in January of 2020 — when he last hosted the Golden Globes — and told stars,  “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything.”
He captioned his post, “They’re still not listening.”

The producer and director later shared a <a href="https://x.com/gervaisclips/status/1885438197577941012">clip</a> from that unforgettable and brutal NSFW monologue he gave at his final turn hosting the Golden Globes. The monologue ended up going viral after he took a verbal sledgehammer to celebrities and big tech companies for their hypocrisy. In total, the “After Life” star has hosted the Globes five times.
To open the show, Gervais said it would be the last time he planned to host the Golden Globes or any other awards shows, sharing that he doesn’t “care anymore. I’m joking. I never did. NBC clearly don’t care either — fifth time. I mean, Kevin Hart was fired from the Oscars because of some offensive tweets — hello?”
He closed out the segment by telling stars not to use the platform to “make a political speech” noting that they weren’t in any position to “lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.”
“So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your God, and f*** off, OK?” Gervais added.
At the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/music-news/lady-gaga-trans-people-not-invisible-2025-grammys-trump-1236125567/">Grammy Awards</a> on Sunday, host Trevor Noah took a jab at President Donald Trump and said, “There’s been a few changes in Washington. I’m going to enjoy tonight because this may be the last time I get to host anything in this country.”
When Lady Gaga went up to accept the award for Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her “Die With a Smile” duet with Bruno Mars, she spoke about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-signs-executive-order-protecting-kids-from-irreversible-gender-transition-procedures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender issues</a> following Trump’s signing of an Executive Order that makes it crystal clear, the United States only recognizes two genders, a male and female.
“Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love,” the singer said. “The queer community deserves to be lifted up. <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t/music/">Music</a> is love.”
Shakira was honored for Best Latin pop album and said, “I want to dedicate this award to all of my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you’re worth it and I will always fight for you.&#8221; Her comment was in reaction to Trump&#8217;s crackdown on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/illegal-immigration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal immigration</a>.
Near the end of the show, singer Alicia Keys was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, and claimed that &#8220;DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) &#8220;is not a threat, it’s a gift. And the more voices, the more powerful the sound.” Trump and numerous corporations across the country have opted to get rid of their <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/target-rolls-back-dei-joining-other-major-companies-like-walmart-meta" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DEI programs</a>.

There is a worldview that has now become prevalent in the United States and across the West. It is actually, truly evil. It has consequences for our politics and for the election of 2024.
There is a clip that is now going around the internet of Ta-Nehisi Coates, a racial conflagrationist author who believes truly terrible things. He&#8217;s been given pretty much every award that our self-defeating, white liberals have to offer.
Over the course of his career, he has received a wide variety of awards. He was given, for example, a MacArthur Fellowship from the MacArthur Foundation. He won a George Polk Award in 2014 for commentary. He was given a 2015 National Book Award for nonfiction. He is the toast of the town. Coates is treated as though he is a moral paragon, a sort of prophet of our times.
He is treated this way by the entire media, so much so that if he is asked a difficult question, all of CBS News melts down — which is what happened last week. A reporter asked him a tough question, and that reporter then took it directly in the teeth from the CBS News brass.
But what Coates believes is actually evil, and it is emblematic of a broader worldview that has now infused large swaths of the upper elite of the Democratic Party who believe exactly what Coates believes. Huge swaths of the Left in Europe believe what Coates believes. This is a person who&#8217;s considered perhaps the leading intellectual light of the Left in the United States. His new book, “The Message” is basically just a rabid screed about how evil Israel is. Prior to that, he used the same exact worldview to discuss how evil the United States is.
But the thing that is setting people&#8217;s hair on fire is what <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/1844499893442007450?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1844499893442007450%7Ctwgr%5Eec21caa0f330e84180018db8dbabc0fc7dab5317%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fta-nehisi-coates-blasted-for-suggesting-he-wouldve-participated-in-october-7-attack" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he said in an interview</a> with former (alleged) comedian Trevor Noah. In it, he justifies the October 7 attacks saying that, were he Palestinian, he himself might have entered Israel and slaughtered men, women, children, and engaged in rape.
In the interview, he says:
<blockquote>I haven&#8217;t said this out loud, but I think about it a lot. Were I 20 years old, born into Gaza, which is a giant open-air jail, and what I mean by that is if my father is a fisherman and he goes too far out into the sea, he might be shot by somebody off, you know, a side of Israeli boats. If my mother picks the olive trees and she gets too close to the wall, she might be shot.
If my little sister has cancer and she needs treatment because they’re no, you know, facilities to do that in Gaza and I don&#8217;t get the right permits, she might die. And I grow up under that oppression and that poverty and the wall comes down, am I also strong enough or even constructed in such a way where I say, “This is too far.” I don’t know that I am.</blockquote>
First of all, put aside the lies, put aside the idea that Israel is somehow keeping cancer-ridden children in Gaza for no reason. There are several dozen hospitals in Gaza, most of them having been used as fronts by Hamas. Billions of dollars flowed into the Gaza Strip, and they are used entirely by Hamas in order to build up terror facilities.
But it is also true that many of the people who were slaughtered in the Gaza envelope by Hamas were people who made it their daily business to drive people with cancer from Gaza to Israeli hospitals. In fact, Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, was in jail and the Israelis treated him for brain cancer, healed him, and then released him.
When Coates talks about people being shot for picking olive trees, what he describes is not the case. If you get too close to the “No Man&#8217;s Land” in the border area and you refuse to obey orders, you are then taking the risk into your own hands.
All that aside, what he is saying is simply insane. He is justifying the massacres of October 7 because they are the “victims.”

So Coates spends a lot of time justifying the unjustifiable. To understand why this matters for America, it must be understood that this is not about Israel. For Coates, it&#8217;s about something far deeper. When he&#8217;s justifying terrorism, what he&#8217;s really doing is saying that if you are a member of a victim class — a class that he, as a self-appointed prophet, gets to define — you have the right, perhaps even the obligation, to engage in full-scale violence and terrorism.
What Coates says about Gazan civilians crossing the border and engaging in rape, murder, and the slaughter of children could very easily be applied to the slaughter of white Americans under his own worldview and rubric. He&#8217;s been very clear about this. He&#8217;s not exactly hiding the ball. And this is the amazing thing: There&#8217;s nothing new here.
Jean-Paul Sartre, who&#8217;s a ridiculous communist French philosopher who has been taken seriously by liberals for half a century, wrote the exact same thing in his introduction to a book called “The Wretched of the Earth” by Frantz Fanon. In it, he suggests that the West should essentially accept violence upon itself from Third World peoples in order to expiate its own sins of colonialism.
That is also what Coates believes. If you&#8217;re a member of the victim class, you should be able to do violence to people who are members of the “victimizer class.” And anybody who&#8217;s a member of a “victim class,” according to Coates, has no agency. Thus, Coates believes if you&#8217;re a member of a victimizer class, you deserve violence to be done to you and your children.
This is part of a broader worldview that applies to the United States. This worldview has been taken into the bones of the Left. This used to be a fringe, crazy-town worldview. Jean-Paul Sartre was not representative of the party of, say, Hubert Humphrey in the United States in 1968.
But Coates is a lauded, celebrated, champagne-drenched intellectual in the pages of The Atlantic. He is treated as though he has something important to say.
But what he is saying about Israel is really not about Israel at all. Right in the middle of the racial reckoning, Coates published “Between the World and Me,” because after all, Ferguson happened in 2014 and this is his worldview. His big example of experiencing racism in the United States is one time he was on an elevator and someone said something to his child. And this becomes his telescoping of all of America&#8217;s racist history into an incident on an elevator in New York.
The whole book is written as a letter to his child. He writes:
<blockquote>As we came off, you were moving at the dawdling speed of a small child. As we came off, you were moving at the dawdling speed of a small child. A white woman pushed you and said, “Come on.” Many things now happen at once. There is the reaction of any parent when a stranger lays a hand on the body of his or her child. And there was my own insecurity in my ability to protect your black body and more. There was my sense that this woman was pulling rank.
I know, for instance, that she would not have pushed a black child out on my part of Flatbush because she would be afraid there and would sense, if not know, that there would be a penalty for it for such an action. But I was not out on my part of Flatbush and that was not in West Baltimore, and I was far from the Mecca.
I forgot all of that. I was only aware that someone had invoked their right over the body of my son. I turned and spoke to this woman and my words were hot with all of the moment and all of my history. </blockquote>
This is the incident that is the supposed “inciting incident” for his realization about race in America. He&#8217;s on an elevator with his child and a white woman is irritated because the kid isn&#8217;t moving fast enough — in New York, a place of the rude. He immediately telescopes all of America&#8217;s terrible, evil, racial history into this incident. It never occurs to him that maybe the lady&#8217;s just rude. It never occurs to him that maybe she&#8217;s in a hurry because she has a reason to be in a hurry.
No, it&#8217;s “all of America is racist and evil,” and you can find that out by looking into the eyes of another person and never asking them a question. Because Coates, an incredibly rich and celebrated author, is a victim, and that white lady in the elevator was a victimizer — a racial victimizer, not just a victimizer of the child by being rude, in a class sense. She&#8217;s a member of a victimizer class.
So what does that mean for Coates? It means, for example, that he doesn&#8217;t care about September 11. He actually writes this in his book. It is beyond comprehension that this country would grant the worldview of people like Coates any time of day at all, let alone make this person a celebrated author.
He&#8217;s an immoral imbecile, though that&#8217;s too kind because imbecility suggests that stupidity lies at the root of this. It&#8217;s not imbecility. It is malign evil.
In his book “Between the World and Me,” Coates writes about September 11, and the firefighters and police officers who were turned to ash:
<blockquote>They were not human to me, black, white or whatever. They were menaces of nature. They were the fire, the comet, the storm, which could, with no justification, shatter my body.</blockquote>
Now, throughout his writing he uses the term “body” because he believes, I assume, that if he writes “body” as opposed to “me,” it makes it have more import, and becomes all about the physical being of black people or something. In reality, it&#8217;s just a cheap way of trying to buy literary cred.
In an interview with <a href="https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2015/07/ta-nehisi-coates-between-the-world-and-me.html">New York Magazine</a> that same year, the death of one particular black person at the hands of police so alienated Coates that when he watched 9/11, “slightly stoned, on the roof of his Brooklyn building,” he recalls that he felt nothing at all. “You must always remember,” Coates writes to Samori, “that the sociology, the history, the economics, the graphs, the charts, the regressions all land, with great violence, upon the body.” This is the setting up of a victim class that is then justified in doing anything he feels nothing about — September 11 or otherwise.
Let me just express, if someone feels nothing about September 11, they should not be in the United States. It is that simple. They do not belong in the West. If you feel nothing about September 11 — the greatest act of evil of my lifetime — you don&#8217;t deserve to be here. You don&#8217;t deserve to be living off the fruits of the civilization that you are currently leeching off of, which is what Coates is doing. He is a scavenger and a leech on the body of Western Civilization.

Left-wing entertainer Trevor Noah this week compared Islamic terror attacks against Israel to America&#8217;s Founding Fathers fighting the British during the American Revolutionary War.
Noah made the remarks during an interview with far-Left activist Ta-Nehisi Coates about a new book that he wrote that is filled with <a href="https://x.com/Aizenberg55/status/1844369065017557207">false claims</a> about Israel.
The book is so extreme that a mainstream news anchor recently said it was a manuscript that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cbs-hires-dei-strategist-to-counsel-journalists-upset-by-questioning-of-ta-nehisi-coates">terrorists</a> would read.
“I have to say, when I read the book, I imagine if I took your name out of it, took away the awards, the acclaim, took the cover off the book, publishing house goes away, the content of that section would not be out of place in the backpack of an extremist,” said CBS News anchor Tony Dokoupil.
Noah said that people were outraged by Dokoupil&#8217;s assessment of the book because Coates was asked to answer legitimate questions about his claims.
&#8220;I sat there. I don&#8217;t get flabbergasted by much. I genuinely don&#8217;t. I sat down, I was like, what?&#8221; Noah said. &#8220;My first thought is, yes, but if you remove every context from everything, then everything could go anywhere. You know what I mean?&#8221;
&#8220;If you remove America&#8217;s history and America&#8217;s [inaudible] and America&#8217;s this, then it&#8217;s like, yeah, those people who fought against the British they were terrorists,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I mean, you can call it like, yeah, the Boston Tea Party. That&#8217;s terrorism. If you remove the context, everything has no context.&#8221;

Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/will-smith">Will Smith</a>, 54, spoke with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/trevor-noah">Trevor Noa</a><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/trevor-noah">h</a> on “The Daily Show” Monday, blaming his violent outburst against <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Chris Rock</a> on an underlying “rage” that had been festering for some time. 
“I was gone, dude,” Smith told Noah about the incident, <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/will-smith-daily-show-trevor-noah-oscars-slap-1235443683/">according</a> to Variety. “That was a rage that had been bottled for a really long time.”
The actor attempted to explain his behavior, saying, “you just never know what somebody is going through.”
“I was going through something that night,” Smith told the audience. “That doesn’t justify my behavior at all.”
“We just gotta be nice to each other, man,” he continued. “It’s hard. I guess the thing that was most painful for me, is I took my heart and made it hard for other people. I understood the idea when they say hurt people hurt people.”
The “Men in Black” star also discussed his childhood, saying he was brought back to being “the little boy that watched his father beat up his mother, all of that bubbled up in that moment. That’s not who I want to be.”
Smith also recalled how it felt to watch the scene with his young nephew. 
“He’s the sweetest little boy. He stayed up late to see his Uncle Will. We are sitting in the kitchen, he’s on my lap holding the Oscar, [and he asked] ‘why did you hit that man, Uncle Will?&#8217;” he recalled.
“Why you trying to Oprah me?” the actor remembered thinking. “I was like, it was a mess. I don’t want to go too far into it to give people more to misunderstand.”
While Noah attempted to stick up for Smith by saying “everybody can make a mistake,” the actor got emotional and said, “I understand how shocking it was to people.”
Earlier this week, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-smith-says-he-totally-understands-and-respects-if-people-arent-ready-to-see-his-new-film">Smith told Variety</a> that he understands if people don’t want to see his new movie, “Emancipation,” but hopes it won’t affect the rest of the cast and crew. 
“I completely understand that, if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready,” Smith said. “My deepest concern is my team – [director Antoine Fuqua] has done what I think is the greatest work of his entire career.”
“I’m hoping that the material – the power of the film, the timeliness of the story – I’m hoping that the good that can be done would open people’s hearts at a minimum to see and recognize and support the incredible artists in and around this film,” he continued.

The former co-host of &#8220;The View&#8221; wrote an op-ed for the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11267365/Trevor-Noah-ruining-Daily-MEGHAN-MCCAIN.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a> Friday, titled &#8220;I loved The Daily Show and Trevor Noah ruined it — the best comedy punches up at the powerful but today&#8217;s late-night hosts are too scared to be funny.&#8221;
In the piece, McCain shared that after Noah took over for late-night host Jon Stewart in 2015, the comedy show has &#8220;slogged into mediocrity and quite frankly, boredom&#8221; as she talked about the host being more interested in his “‘cool kid&#8217; clout in the media.&#8221;

&#8220;Today&#8217;s bootlicking comedians are so afraid to make a joke at the expense of their political favorites and the result is that they just aren&#8217;t funny,&#8221; she added. &#8220;How is it that SNL is not mocking Joe Biden and Kamala Harris every single night?&#8221;
&#8220;Our aging president looks lost in public and even his allies admit it,&#8221; McCain continued. &#8220;Harris can&#8217;t get through a single public appearance without blurting out an incomprehensible word salad.&#8221;

&#8220;I don&#8217;t want any more lectures,&#8221; McCain continued. &#8220;I want to laugh. So how do you save &#8216;The Daily Show&#8217; and late-night TV for that matter? Hire a comedian who wants to be a barn burner, who isn&#8217;t beholden to an agenda, political party or ideology. Someone who wants to call out hypocrisy, corruption, the absolute absurdity of our current political climate and feckless politicians.&#8221;

Comedian <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/topic/trevor-noah/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trevor Noah</a> shocked his audience on Thursday with a pre-show video announcement declaring that his time at &#8220;<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/trevor-noah-host-of-the-daily-show-drops-27-5-million-on-bel-air-mansion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Show</a>&#8221; had come to an end.
The late night show — which airs five nights a week on Comedy Central — shared a video preview of that evening&#8217;s monologue just an hour before the show was scheduled to air. In the monologue, Noah revealed that he was leaving the show after seven years.

<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/this-would-have-never-happened-to-donald-trump-trevor-noah-slams-embarrassing-report-gulf-countries-wont-answer-joe-bidens-calls/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Noah</a> began by noting that he had been thinking a lot about the fact that he had been doing the show for seven years — and as he thought about his time doing the show, he had been flooded with &#8220;a feeling of gratitude.&#8221;
&#8220;The journey we have been on together has been wild,&#8221; he said, noting that it took a lot of producers and correspondents and moving parts to make the show come together successfully every night. &#8220;And I want to say thank you to the audience, for an amazing seven years, it&#8217;s been wild. It&#8217;s been truly wild.&#8221;
The audience exploded in applause and cheers then, and after a long pause, Noah continued. &#8220;I remember when we first started &#8230; so many people didn&#8217;t believe in us, it was a crazy bet to make, I mean, I still think it was a crazy choice &#8230; what a journey it&#8217;s been.&#8221;
&#8220;I just found myself filled with gratitude for the journey,&#8221; Noah added, listing off a number of events that had come about during his time behind the desk.
&#8220;I realized that after the seven years, my time is up,&#8221; Noah said then, prompting several audible gasps from the audience. &#8220;Yeah, but in the most beautiful way, honestly. I&#8217;ve loved hosting this show. It&#8217;s been one of my greatest challenges, it&#8217;s been one of my greatest joys, I&#8217;ve loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly s***y on the worst days. You know, we’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together.”
&#8220;But after seven years, I feel like it&#8217;s time,&#8221; Noah said, going on to note that one of the things he had really missed was traveling to do stand-up — and he hoped to be able to get back to that.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve never been good at goodbyes,&#8221; he concluded, quickly reassuring the audience that he wasn&#8217;t going to drop off the face of the earth. &#8220;It&#8217;s not instant, I&#8217;m not disappearing, don&#8217;t worry. If I owe you money, I&#8217;ll still pay you.&#8221;

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to answer on Sunday what it was like to be made fun of by Trevor Noah during the White House Correspondents&#8217; Dinner last week.
During an interview on Fox News with host Howard Kurtz, Psaki also repeatedly tried to downplay President Joe Biden&#8217;s (D) lack of media interviews and press conferences, claiming that he &#8220;speaks to the American people nearly every day.&#8221;
Psaki tried to dismiss the negative news cycles that the administration faces, saying, &#8220;We can&#8217;t determine what the media decides to cover, of course, that&#8217;s not our role. We&#8217;re not in China and Russia.&#8221;
Later in the interview, Psaki was asked about what it was like being made fun of by Noah last week when he brought up her apparent upcoming move over to MSNBC.
&#8220;The word on the streets is actually that Jen Psaki is going to MSNBC next month,&#8221; Noah <a href="https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/2022-white-house-correspondents-association-dinner-transcript">said</a>. &#8220;Apparently, just being on CSPAN, the ratings were too high and she wanted more of a challenge. Wanted to switch things up. She can’t laugh at that. Don’t put the camera on her. If it’s true, congratulations to Jen on your big career change. But, moving to MSNBC is going to be a big switch up for you because right now your current job is to make the Biden administration look as good as possible at all costs. Now, you’re going to be at MSNBC and you’re going to have to… You’ll be fine actually. Sorry.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, I have nothing to say about what I am going to do in the future, aside from it&#8217;s now been announced that I will be departing the White House next week, I have a lot of emotions about that,&#8221; Psaki responded. &#8220;They&#8217;re all filled together at once. I&#8217;m going to sleep. I&#8217;m going to read a lot of books. I&#8217;m going to watch a lot of movies I haven&#8217;t seen. What I will say is that you couldn&#8217;t have done my job. I don&#8217;t think anybody could do this job as White House press secretary if they didn&#8217;t value the role of the press and the media. And I do. Even on days where we disagree, on days we debate.&#8221;

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates told Trevor Noah that it was &#8220;quite clear&#8221; that the novel coronavirus came from animals, ultimately jumping from bats to humans with &#8220;one step in between.&#8221;
Gates laid out an argument, comparing the coronavirus to other viruses like Ebola and HIV and arguing that they had all come from animals first and transmitted to humans via intermediate hosts like chimpanzees. He stopped short of offering a suggestion as to what had been the intermediate host for COVID-19.

&#8220;How do we prevent something where we don&#8217;t even understand how it came to be?&#8221; Noah asked. &#8220;Like, you know, are there labs where they need to do better at, you know, enclosing the work that they&#8217;re doing? I understand that they have to do the work, but how do we figure that out and how do we move forward in that realm?&#8221;
Gates agreed that lab safety was something everyone should prioritize, but then he pivoted to argue that did not necessarily <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/china-refuses-to-cooperate-with-w-h-o-probe-into-lab-leak-theory-its-against-science/">have any relevance</a> with regard to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
&#8220;It’s quite clear in this case, that [COVID] came across through animals. And almost all our diseases, like HIV, crossed over from chimpanzees in Africa quite some time ago; Ebola came from bats, this also, with one step in between came across from bats, so it&#8217;s going to keep happening, particularly with climate change where we&#8217;re invading a lot of habitats, and you want to catch it as soon as you can,&#8221; Gates said.
Despite evidence that surfaced very early in the pandemic, Gates is one of several prominent voices continuing to assert that COVID-19 did not <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/greg-gutfeld-offers-advice-to-fauci-after-lab-leak-document-dump-resign-and-get-a-lawyer/">come from a lab</a> — either accidentally or intentionally — and transmitted from bats to humans through an intermediate host. Scientists around the world have been searching for a possible intermediate host since the pandemic began, but have not found anything.

President Joe Biden took some heat for laughing at jokes highlighting the fact that, since he took office, the American people are having a hard time affording a decent quality of life. The man who promised to restore &#8220;decency&#8221; to the Oval Office was filmed laughing at comedian Trevor Noah&#8217;s joke about inflation at Saturday night&#8217;s White House Correspondents Association Dinner.
Saturday featured the first WHCA Dinner in two years — and the first one in six years to be attended by a sitting president. The event <a href="https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/kim-kardashian-pete-davidson-more-at-2022-white-house-correspondents-association-dinner-1235170413/">featured</a> D.C. media elite and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, who arrived alongside her new beau Pete Davidson. Roughly 2,600 people crammed into a Washington hotel basement and chuckled along to various quips about the presidency and current state of politics. Outside the ballroom and beyond the tuxedos, wine glasses, and multi-course meal, Noah&#8217;s joke about inflation fell a little flat while critics slammed the president for his out-of-touch laughter.
&#8220;Since you’ve come into office, things are really looking up,&#8221; Noah, the emcee of the dinner said while addressing Biden,&#8221;Gas is up, rent is up, food is up! Everything.&#8221;

Paris Dennard, a spokesman for the GOP, <a href="https://twitter.com/PARISDENNARD/status/1520606818887958528?s=20&amp;t=sjiXSywelTvFP60FaL0jvQ">added</a>, &#8220;Joe Biden thinks it is really funny that millions of Americans are suffering right now because of rising costs &amp; inflation caused by his policies!&#8221;
&#8220;This isn’t empathy or leadership it’s shameful!&#8221; Dennard stated. &#8220;Tell Biden your life isn’t a joke!&#8221;
Biden, of course, knows that not many Americans are in a jovial mood right now. In late February, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meads-joe-biden-blames-nations-foul-mood-on-psychological-impact-of-covid-19">blamed</a> that pessimism on the &#8220;psychological impact of COVID-19.&#8221; In Biden&#8217;s mind, the reason why U.S. citizens were unable to appreciate the economy was because they were too worried about whether or not they would get sick from the virus.
The president said in an interview at the time, &#8220;Almost a million Americans have died of COVID and so I think it’s hard for people to get their arms around the fact that we have the fastest growing economy in 40 years, wages are actually up — not down, unemployment is the lowest it’s been….You know it’s just incredibly low, and it’s around the in the three-point range,” he claimed.&#8221;
“We find ourselves in a position where it’s hard to fully appreciate that when you wake up in the morning and wondering whether or not your uncle, aunt, mother, father, son, daughter who has COVID are going to be okay,” Biden added.
If the comment was out of touch then, based on recent economic numbers, it seems to be even more out of touch now.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/us-inflation-consumer-price-index-march-2022-11649725215">announced</a> that inflation rose 8.5% year-over-year in March, according to the Consumer Price Index.
The Daily Wire also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wholesale-inflation-surges-11-2-breaking-another-record">reported</a> that based on the BLS&#8217; <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/ppi.t01.htm">Producer Price Index</a>, which measures inflation from wholesale producers, rose 11.2% annually between March 2021 and March 2022, the highest that figure has been since 2010. Wholesale food prices also jumped 16.2% annually, 2.4% monthly while wholesale energy prices rose 36.7% annually, headlined by liquefied natural gas, which saw a massive 91.4% increase, nearly doubling in price between 2021 and 2022.
In the first quarter of the year, America&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10763421/US-economy-shrank-1-4-Q1-consumers-kept-spending.html">economy shrank 1.4%</a>. The president blamed that downturn on COVID-19 and Russian President Vladimir Putin&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine causing a rise in prices. Various polls <a href="https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/polls-voters-blame-biden-for-inflation/article_bf2811f6-aa0e-11ec-bde8-c3db8056c94f.html">show</a> that the American people blame the president — of the U.S., not of Russia — for inflation.
As all of it adds up, the economy is quickly becoming a top concern for voters, too.
“Americans&#8217; confidence in the economy remains very low, and mentions of economic issues as the most important problem in the U.S. are at their highest point since 2016,” a recent poll from Gallup <a href="https://www.oleantimesherald.com/news/nation/americans-more-worried-about-inflation-than-they-have-been-in-decades/article_f6557693-81e8-51f5-b558-62493fb06fdd.html">said</a>. “Inflation, which registered as the top economic problem last month and continues to be, was previously at this level in 1984.”
Without any economic reprieve predicted, it is evident that voters&#8217; concern about the economy will continue through the 2022 midterms.
While the president may have found Noah&#8217;s remarks hilarious Saturday night, it&#8217;s unlikely he will be laughing if that clip is used as a GOP advertisement down the line.
Just like excuses, jokes have a tendency to get a little old after you hear them more than a few times. The American people will only be able to tolerate Biden blaming Putin and outside factors for the state of the economy — while appearing to laugh at their misery — for so long before they take out their frustrations at the ballot box.

Plitsas, an Army veteran who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, was instrumental in a massive civilian-led rescue operation known as &#8220;<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/u-s-military-veteran-escapes-ukraine-with-help-of-american-rescue-group/">Digital Dunkirk</a>&#8221; — so named because of its similarities to the massive civilian rescue operation that took place at Dunkirk between May 26 and June 4 of 1940. Plitsas has worked tirelessly with other civilians and intelligence operators to aid American citizens and Afghan allies in their <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/group-of-veterans-rescues-another-374-evacuees-from-afghanistan/">escape from the Taliban</a> after President Joe Biden ordered all American troops to leave Afghanistan — and that work is still ongoing.
Plitsas was not alone in his criticism of the joke, however. Congressman Peter Meijer (R-MI) was not amused either.

WASHINGTON — Comedian Trevor Noah suggested that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is trying to &#8220;outmaneuver&#8221; former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
The comedian headlined the White House Correspondents’ Association gala Saturday evening at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., where he leveled shots at the press and politicians alike.
&#8220;What a room this is! Everyone is here tonight,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We’ve got politicians. We&#8217;ve got the media, we&#8217;ve got celebrities. Basically anyone who has been to Jeffrey Epstein’s island. This is an exclusive event.&#8221;
&#8220;Many big names here tonight,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;One of my favorites, Ron DeSantis is here. I’m actually surprised that he found the time. You know, he has been so busy trying to outmaneuver Trump for 2024.&#8221;
&#8220;I see you, Ron,&#8221; Noah told the Florida governor, who has thus far steered clear of saying whether he would run in 2024. &#8220;I see you, player! I see what you&#8217;ve been doing! Blaming Trump for the lockdowns, distancing yourself from the vaccines that Trump created with his own two hands.&#8221;
DeSantis, however, wasn&#8217;t in attendance, and has since made that abundantly clear.
“I would never attend that. Have no interest in that. Did not watch it. I don’t care what they do,” <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/02/desantis-invite-white-house-correspondents-dinner-00029335">said</a> the Florida governor on Monday. “For them to advertise me when that invitation was rejected by my office, that is a lie. Here they are saying how important they are that they are somehow these paragons of truth, yet they are lying about something that is readily verifiable.”
At the dinner, Noah also imitated Trump&#8217;s voice, saying, &#8220;Nobody knew how to make vaccines until I made them, beautiful, beautiful vaccines. Nobody knew how. Not even Fauci.&#8221;
The comedian then continued, &#8220;But Ron — Ron is playing it coy, man. He won’t even tell people if he got the booster. Or as they say in Florida, don’t ask, don’t tell, am I right? I see you, Ron.&#8221;
&#8220;You see,&#8221; Noah said, &#8220;what I like about Ron DeSantis is like, if Trump was the original terminator, DeSantis is like the T-1000. You’re smarter than him, you&#8217;re slicker than him, you can walk down ramps.&#8221;
Though Trump said he won the election, Noah said, &#8220;everyone was just able to look at the numbers and see that he was wrong.&#8221;
&#8220;That’s why Ron DeSantis is one step ahead,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;First you ban the math textbooks then nobody knows how to count the votes.&#8221;
&#8220;Boom, my man,&#8221; Noah said, laughing out loud as he concluded his DeSantis bit.

WASHINGTON — Comedian Trevor Noah highlighted Saturday evening that formerly high-profile liberal journalists have lost their national spotlight since President Donald Trump has left the White House.
Noah spoke at the White House Correspondents’ Association gala on Saturday evening at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., following remarks delivered by President Joe Biden.
The comedian alternatively mocked the president and the press before saying that he knew there were &#8220;mixed reviews&#8221; of the Biden presidency among the media present at the gala.

Used to be CNN&#8217;s star fact checker, on TV every day. But now, there is barely anything to check. Same for Glenn Kessler of The Washington Post. On the way here, I saw him on the street offering four pinnochios for a dollar. Mr. President, that’s on you.&#8221;
He continued: &#8220;And what about Maggie Haberman? For four years, it was exclusives on the Russia investigation, corruption, the president doesn&#8217;t read his daily briefings &#8230; Now look at her! She spends all day fighting with random people on Twitter like a common political reporter.&#8221;
&#8220;You’ve ruined her, Mr. President,&#8221; he joked.
&#8220;Now, of course, of course, President Biden doesn’t often have to deal with the media directly,&#8221; Noah continued. &#8220;Yes, the task falls to Press Secretary Jen Psaki.&#8221;
Noah joked to Psaki about the many times she has contracted the coronavirus before reminding the audience that Psaki is <a href="https://www.axios.com/jen-psaki-leaving-white-house-msnbc-a75bdbc6-4c6b-43f9-b406-e104ea3b88e9.html">rumored to be leaving the White House and heading to MSNBC</a>.
&#8220;If it’s true, congratulations to Jen and your big career change,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But, you know, moving to MSNBC is gonna be a big switch up for you because right now, the current job is to make the Biden administration … look good as possible, you know, at all costs, and now you&#8217;re going to be at MSNBC and you’ll have to — you’ll be fine, actually. Sorry.&#8221;
