<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/riley-gaines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Riley Gaines</a> reflected on her years-long journey to help protect female sports on Thursday, just days after she was in the White House with President Donald Trump while he signed an executive order banning males from female athletics.
Swimming for the University of Kentucky, Gaines and other female swimmers were forced to compete against a male swimmer named Lia (formerly Will) Thomas during the 2022 NCAA women’s swimming championship. Gaines and Thomas tied for fifth place in a race, but the trophy was given to only Thomas at the award ceremony. Gaines spoke about the NCAA&#8217;s actions and dedicated herself to advocating for female sports and athletes.
&#8220;I wish I could&#8217;ve told the girl in this photo what was to come in 2025,&#8221; Gaines posted on X, captioning a photo of herself next to Thomas at the tournament. &#8220;She felt cheated, betrayed, and violated. I&#8217;m just glad that girl trusted God and took a leap of faith by stating the obvious when it wasn&#8217;t popular.&#8221;

Gaines also thanked Kellie-Jay Keen, who led a protest against the inclusion of Thomas, a male, at the NCAA women&#8217;s final.
&#8220;I specifically want to thank those who&#8217;ve been fighting far longer than me. Women like [Kellie-Jay Keen] gave me courage without even knowing it at the time,&#8221; Gaines wrote. &#8220;Too many to thank, but nonetheless, we&#8217;re celebrating the wins.&#8221;
Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/surrounded-by-young-female-athletes-donald-trump-bans-men-from-womens-sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed an executive order</a> on Wednesday to withhold funds from programs and schools that allow males to compete in female athletics.
“It is the policy of the United States to rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which results in the endangerment, humiliation, and silencing of women and girls and deprives them of privacy,” the order <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/surrounded-by-young-female-athletes-donald-trump-bans-men-from-womens-sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reads</a>. “It shall also be the policy of the United States to oppose male competitive participation in women’s sports more broadly, as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”
Following the signing of the EO, Gaines spoke to Daily Wire White House Correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan.
“What we saw today is in total contrast to the treatment that we as women have received for the past four years,&#8221; she said, referencing the policies and attitudes of the Biden administration. &#8220;I’m overwhelmed with excitement, I&#8217;m overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Gaines added that the &#8220;win&#8221; was important, but called on the Senate to take up a bill dedicated to protecting female sports that has already been passed in the House.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Board of Management (NBM) will have the chance on Saturday to vote to keep trans-identifying men out of the historically female group.
“Last year I called attention to the radical trans-identifying men who are attempting to invade the Daughters of the American Revolution,” The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles wrote on <a href="https://x.com/michaeljknowles/status/1887576702194258365">X</a>. “This Saturday, DAR leadership will vote on whether or not to let them.”
On Feb. 8, the DAR NBM, a group made up of executive officers, state regents, and honorary vice presidents general, will meet to vote on a bylaw amendment to prohibit all men, including trans-identifying males, from the group. If approved, it will be heard by the entire DAR membership at its Continental Congress gathering in June. 
Knowles <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/michael-knowles-exposes-transgender-attempt-to-infiltrate-daughters-of-american-revolution">previously revealed</a> — in a viral thread on <a href="https://x.com/michaeljknowles/status/1838267625962405922">X</a> — how a group of daughters were “channeling their rebellious spirit of their forebears” by fighting back “this time building a larger, grassroots effort to affirm the original intent of the bylaws and prevent men from continuing to invade their genealogical society.”

Knowles shared details of an internal DAR FAQ document which said that “members are expected to pretend that ‘transgender women’ have always been eligible and that their inclusion took place ‘organically,’ as if implicit in bylaws written before ‘transgenderism’ was even thought to exist.”
In January, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/texas">Texas</a> DAR Chapter decided to fight back against its national organization’s decision to allow trans-identifying males into their organization, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/daughters-of-the-american-revolution-chapter-is-fighting-to-keep-men-out">reported</a>.
In a letter from the Martha Laird Chapter — with help from the Center for American Liberty (CAL) — it has pushed back against a threat from its leadership that by prohibiting transgender males, the DAR would somehow lose its tax-exempt status, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/texas-daughters-american-revolution-chapter-challenges-premise-must-admit-transgender-members">Fox News</a> reported.
“Members have been told that in order to keep our nonprofit status we must allow men who submit an altered birth certificate indicating they are female to be eligible members,” a letter on the DAR <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1659132851538607/permalink/1776056659846225/?mibextid=wwXIfr&amp;_rdr">Facebook</a> page read. “Our hope is that once members and the NBM can feel confident that our nonprofit status is not in jeopardy, they will no longer feel intimidated and vote to allow this bylaw amendment to be heard at Continental Congress.”
In Sept. 2024, the Texas chapter — with the endorsement of eleven other Chapters — submitted a second proposed bylaw amendment to prohibit all men, including trans-identifying males, from the group, after a prior one was rejected on the basis that it would put their nonprofit status in jeopardy, a letter from the group posted on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1659132851538607/permalink/1776056659846225/?mibextid=wwXIfr&amp;_rdr">Facebook</a> read.
The new proposed bylaw amendment says, “A woman is defined as a biological female at conception, having naturally occurring X chromosomes, exclusive of Y chromosomes, and certified as female or girl on the original birth certificate. NSDAR and its chapters may not discriminate against an eligible applicant.”
The NBM vote comes after President Donald Trump signed an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/">Executive Order</a> defining that the United States will only recognize two genders, male and female. It read, “‘Sex’ is not a synonym for and does not include the concept of ‘gender identity.’” The EO also <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/01/20/us-news/trump-executive-order-to-define-sex-as-male-and-female/">reverse</a>s the prior <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-sign-executive-order-defining-sex-as-male-and-female">policy</a> of allowing people to change their sex on passports and personnel records.

“Harry Potter” author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/j-k-rowling">J.K. Rowling</a>, who has become an outspoken critic of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">trans-identifying</a> men participating in women’s sports in recent years, posted a lengthy reaction on Thursday to President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump&#8217;s</a> signing of an executive order banning the practice.
“Congratulations to every single person on the left who’s been campaigning to destroy women’s and girls’ rights. Without you, there’d be no images like this,” she said in a post to X that included an image of President Trump holding up the EO with his signature as he’s surrounded by young female athletes who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/surrounded-by-young-female-athletes-donald-trump-bans-men-from-womens-sports">witnessed the signing</a>.

“This &#8216;why do you care about a tiny fraction of the population?&#8217; line is, and always was, utterly ridiculous,” Rowling <a href="https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/1887472120541679690">continued</a> in a follow-up. 
“Gender ideology has undermined freedom of speech, scientific truth, gay rights, and women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; safety, privacy and dignity. It&#8217;s also caused irreparable physical damage to vulnerable kids,” she wrote. “Nobody voted for it, the vast majority of people disagree with it, yet it has been imposed, top down, by politicians, healthcare bodies, academia, sections of the media, celebrities and even the police. Its activists have threatened and enacted violence on those who&#8217;ve dared oppose it.”
Rowling said eventually, it will become clear that &#8220;the actual victims in this mess have been women and children.”  
“This movement has impacted society in disastrous ways, and if you had any sense, you&#8217;d be quietly deleting every trace of activist mantras, ad hominem attacks, false equivalence and circular arguments from your X feeds, because the day is fast approaching when you&#8217;ll want to pretend you always saw through the craziness and never believed it for a second,” the British author wrote.
Rowling has been a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/5-years-ago-j-k-rowling-took-a-stand-against-trans-activists-she-hasnt-backed-down">staunch advocate</a> for women’s sex-based rights and private spaces after tweeting her support for Maya Forstater, a tax specialist who lost her job for sharing “transphobic” tweets in 2019. She went viral again in 2020 after posting a sarcastic response to an article on menstrual health which refrained from using the word “woman.”
The “Harry Potter” author” has often found herself the target of radical transgender activists — who have, in addition to labeling her a trans-exclusionary radical feminist (TERF), threatened her life on numerous occasions.

The video is still gaining traction online since it was first released over the weekend, and sparking backlash against woke athletic corporation Nike, which supports the &#8220;LGBTQIA+&#8221; agenda and refuses to stand up for female athletes.
X users quickly found other ads from XX-XY Athletics, specifically an ad called &#8220;Dear Nike,&#8221; and asked, as the ad does, why Nike is not standing up for females who are having their spaces and sports infiltrated by males who identify as transgender.

Under a section called &#8220;take the initiative,&#8221; the site says, &#8220;Prioritize safe spaces for trans and non-binary youth, even if there are no active requests. When you normalize the needs of LGBTQIA+ athletes, it creates a welcoming environment for them to participate.&#8221;
&#8220;Creating a safe environment that is respectful of a full spectrum of identities and pronouns starts with being an informed ally,&#8221; the website adds. &#8220;Stay on top of your game with regular LGBTQIA+ education for both you and your team.&#8221;
Currently, XX-XY Athletics&#8217; &#8220;Real Girls Rock&#8221; and &#8220;Dear Nike&#8221; ads have racked up more than 10 millions views each and continue to gain attention online. At the same time, President Donald Trump has signed an executive order protecting girls&#8217; sports.

Three former University of Pennsylvania women’s swimmers have filed a lawsuit over biological males being allowed to use female locker rooms and participate in their competitions.
The students, who have since graduated, filed the lawsuit on Tuesday against their university, Harvard University, the Ivy League Council of Presidents, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The lawsuit is based on their experience with teammate Lia Thomas, a former male swimmer who started identifying as a woman and dominating female competitions.
The lawsuit, filed by Grace Estabrook, Margo Kaczorowski, and Ellen Holmquist, with <a href="https://iconswomen.com/take-on-the-ivy-league/">support</a> from the Independent Council on Women&#8217;s Sports (ICONS), was <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/former-lia-thomas-teammates-sue-ivy-league-ncaa-alleging-aggressive-push-pro-trans-ideology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">provided exclusively</a> to Fox News and has been reviewed by The Daily Wire. The women are seeking damages for “pain and suffering, mental and emotional distress, suffering and anxiety, expenses costs” and more for the institutions allowing Thomas and other trans-identifying men into women&#8217;s spaces and competitions, which they say violated their rights under Title IX. Title IX is a federal statute that prohibits discrimination based on sex, and was initially created to ensure women have equal opportunities for sports.
But over the past decade, schools have allowed biological men to self-identify into women’s sports, taking <a href="https://kfoxtv.com/news/nation-world/un-study-reveals-transgender-athletes-have-won-nearly-900-medals-in-womens-competitions-united-nations-sports-lgbt-gender-identity-title-ix-athletics" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hundreds of medals</a> from women.
The three women now suing have argued that being forced to change clothes in front of Thomas, who still has male genitalia, left them “repeatedly emotionally traumatized.” It can take around 30 minutes for a competitive swimmer to get into their skintight swimsuits, meaning the women had to spend at least that much time in a vulnerable position in front of a biological man, who was also changing.
&#8220;The UPenn administrators told the women that if anyone was struggling with accepting Thomas’s participation on the UPenn Women’s team, they should seek counseling and support from [UPenn’s student wellness center] and the LBGTQ center,” the lawsuit says.
&#8220;The administrators also invited the women to a talk titled, ‘Trans 101.’ Thus, the women were led to understand that UPenn’s position was that if a woman on the team had any problem with a trans-identifying male being on her team that woman had a psychological problem and needed counseling,” the lawsuit added.
The former swimmers also allege that the administrators told them not to publicly speak out about the situation, or risk consequences.
&#8220;The UPenn administrators went on to tell the women that if the women spoke publicly about their concerns about Thomas’ participation on the Women’s Team, the reputation of those complaining about Thomas being on the team would be tainted with transphobia for the rest of their lives and they would probably never be able to get a job,’&#8221; the lawsuit says.
The women are suing Harvard as well as UPenn because Harvard hosted the NCAA women’s championship, where Thomas won the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and 400-yard freestyle relay as a senior.
Thomas has continued to fight to be allowed to compete against biological women, even attempting to be allowed to compete in elite women’s races post-college, but a legal challenge was denied last year, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lia-thomas-loses-legal-battle-over-rules-preventing-trans-identifying-swimmers-from-competing-in-elite-womens-races" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
On Wednesday, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/president-trump-to-sign-executive-to-keep-men-out-of-womens-sports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed an executive order</a> to keep biological men out of women’s sports.

Famed author and women&#8217;s rights advocate J.K. Rowling shared a powerful ad on social media on Monday morning promoting the protection of female sports.
The ad Rowling posted comes from a <a href="https://www.xx-xyathletics.com/pages/our-founder?gad_source=1&amp;gbraid=0AAAAA9U_9lvnmtPx928X2qibdwRF4SutE&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA74G9BhAEEiwA8kNfpalocfJ73HNO0UTZmsElh7Fk2Ch1KyCEeQKXINBG8qOUfXGzJwdxSRoCr74QAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pro-woman athletics brand called XX-XY Athletics</a>, which was founded by a former top Levi&#8217;s executive named <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/levis-pushed-her-out-when-she-spoke-up-against-covid-madness-but-jennifer-sey-isnt-done-talking-part-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jennifer Sey</a> who was pushed out of her job for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/levis-pushed-her-out-when-she-spoke-up-against-covid-madness-but-jennifer-sey-isnt-done-talking-part-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disagreeing with the company&#8217;s leftist orthodoxy</a>.
Additionally, the ad features <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/take-your-mark-a-practical-guide-for-defending-women-girls-and-biological-truth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">real stories of female athletes</a> who&#8217;ve lost out on opportunities because of male trans-identifying athletes and received hatred and vitriol for standing up for themselves and other girls.

The ad showcases the cost females have been paying for the inclusion of male trans-identifying athletes in their spaces. Riley Gaines, for example, is called a &#8220;bigot&#8221; in the ad for daring to speak up. In 2022, the swimmer-turned-advocate was forced to swim against Lia Thomas, a male, during the women&#8217;s NCAA championships. Gaines tied Thomas but was booted from the medal podium to make way for Thomas.
The XX-XY Athletics ad also features <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/university-finally-scraps-match-after-womens-team-refuses-to-play-team-whose-star-player-is-male" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sia LiiLii</a>, a senior co-captain of the University of Nevada Reno Volleyball team. Liilii and her team chose to forfeit a volleyball match against an opposing team that had a man on the roster.

&#8220;I woke up this morning to JK Rowling tweeting our ad. To say this was an honor and a surprise would be the understatement of my career,&#8221; Sey told The Daily Wire on Monday.
Sey noted that Rowling showed &#8220;some hesitancy&#8221; in sharing the ad but said the brand&#8217;s &#8220;whole intention&#8221; is to &#8220;influence the movement and popular culture.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s more than a t-shirt or a pair of leggings,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Legislation is downstream from culture and we’ve failed on the culture front. And we need to wrest back the culture with the full force that it was taken from us and taken over by the uninformed, propaganda-spewing people and institutions who think you can change your sex.&#8221;
&#8220;The brand is a way to wear your values and to say: this is what I believe,&#8221; Sey added. &#8220;And it provides the permission structure for others to do the same. We need to normalize standing up for women’s sports and spaces. We cannot let the bullying unhinged minority have the mic because we are afraid of being called names.&#8221;

Sey told The Daily Wire that in less than 24 hours of its release, the XX-XY Athletics ad had received about 4.5 million impressions on X and another 610,000 on Instagram.

We must continue to fight,&#8221; Sey said. &#8220;Because it isn’t over despite Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a>, that only impacts federally-funded programs.&#8221;

The Department of Education on Friday announced that it would enforce the 2020 Title IX rules implemented during the first Trump administration.
Upon entering office, former President Joe Biden attempted to alter those rules to remove due process protections from students and to change the definition of sex to allow boys in girls’ sports and bathrooms. The Trump administration’s <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-enforce-2020-title-ix-rule-protecting-women" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> means the Biden rules are null and void.
“The Biden Administration’s failed attempt to rewrite Title IX was an unlawful abuse of regulatory power and an egregious slight to women and girls,” Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor said in the announcement. “Under the Trump Administration, the Education Department will champion equal opportunity for all Americans, including women and girls, by protecting their right to safe and separate facilities and activities in schools, colleges, and universities.”
The administration sent out a “<a href="https://www.ed.gov/media/document/title-ix-enforcement-directive-dcl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dear Colleague Letter</a>” announcing the move, noting that the Education Department would “enforce Title IX under the provisions of the 2020 Title IX Rule, rather than the recently invalidated 2024 Title IX Rule.”
In December, the Biden administration officially withdrew its proposed Title IX rule that would have allowed biological males to participate in women’s sports as long as the men “identify” as women, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/after-public-blowback-biden-finally-withdraws-insane-title-ix-rule-about-gender-in-schools" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. In January, a federal court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/colossal-win-for-women-and-girls-federal-court-strikes-down-biden-title-ix-rewrite-nationwide" target="_blank" rel="noopener">struck down</a> the Title IX rewrite to ensure no states followed Biden’s regulations, which also gutted due process protections for students accused of crimes on campus.
Tyler Coward, lead counsel for government affairs at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), applauded the due-process component of the Trump administration’s previous rules in a statement to The Daily Wire.
“The return to the 2020 rules ensures that all students — whether they are the accused or the accuser — will receive fair treatment and important procedural safeguards,” Coward said. “That includes the right of both parties to have lawyers present during hearings, the right for both attorneys to cross-examine the other party and witnesses, and the right to receive all of the evidence in the institution’s possession. Colleges are also required to adopt a speech-protective definition of sexual harassment that enables schools to punish genuine harassment instead of merely unpopular speech.”
“Restoring the Trump administration’s rules means that students can once again feel secure that their rights to due process and free speech will be respected while ensuring administrators have the tools they need to punish those who engage in sexual misconduct and harassment,” Coward added.

New <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/documenttools/f548560f100205ef/e656ddda-full.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">polling</a> from the New York Times shows that Americans, regardless of political party, agree with Republican positions on numerous transgender issues, including gender transitions for minors and sports inclusion.
The New York Times/Ipsos Survey, which was conducted earlier this month, found that a stunning 79% of Americans believe males should not be permitted to participate in female sports, even if the athlete identifies as transgender.

Another survey question asked about transgender medications for minors: &#8220;Thinking about medications used for transgender care, do you think doctors should be able to prescribe puberty-blocking drugs or hormone therapy to minors between the ages of 10 and 18?&#8221;
Overall, 71% of Americans answered &#8220;No,&#8221; including 54% of Democrats. Only 10% of respondents said minors should have access to the drugs, with another 16% saying minors ages 15-18 should have access.

In December of 2024, for the second year in a row, a male Irish dancer who identifies as a transgender girl has <a href="https://www.quickfeis.com/FullOireachtasResultsFreeV2?OireachtasId=29" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won the title</a> of Southern Regional Champion, beating out nearly 100 girls and indirectly depriving a young woman of the opportunity to compete at the World Championships. 
As an internationally competitive Irish dancer, I have been appalled at the introduction of men into women’s sports across the globe in the last several years, and specifically, at the effects of this practice upon my own sport. Despite recent victories such as the defeat in federal court of the Biden-Harris administration’s attempt to legally expand the definition of sex in Title IX to include the nebulous concept of “gender identity,” which would have <a href="https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/attorneygeneral/documents/pr/2025/2025-1-title-ix.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">punished states</a> for barring biological males from women’s sports, many female athletes are still forced to yield their spaces to boys and men.
In recent months, I have watched young women diligently balance AP classes, cross-training, and other sports with rigorous dance classes, frequent travel to competitions, and acute mental pressure that accompany athletes everywhere, only to have to compete against individuals with physiological advantages. These girls all train in the hope of qualifying for the <a href="https://www.clrgoireachtas.com/world-championships" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Irish Dancing Championships</a>, a feat attained by a mere 1%. The World Championships are often termed our “Olympics,” and for good reason. While a normal <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/fitness/expert-answers/heart-rate/faq-20057979#:~:text=A%20normal%20resting%20heart%20rate%20for%20adults%20ranges,to%20100%20beats%20per%20minute." target="_blank" rel="noopener">resting heart rate</a> for adults ranges between 60 to 100 beats per minute (BPM), the stamina required to compete in three champion-length rounds means our resting heart rates are often near 40bpm. Our complex rhythms must be unfailingly precise; we require the flexibility to kick well above our heads, and we must possess the explosive power to jump and freeze in midair, even while wearing heavy, fiberglass shoes. Some of us commute several hours to dance class, and in my case, as just one example, I delayed attending my first-choice university in order to secure a qualification.
After all this sacrifice, girls are then made to compete against individuals who, according to the National Library of Medicine, possess superior lung capacity, denser bones, and significantly greater muscle mass <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9331831/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">even after estrogen therapy.</a> As of 2022, International Olympic Committee regulations require biological males wishing to compete as females to undergo “hormone therapy” to maintain testosterone levels “below 10 nmol/L (nanomoles per liter) for one year.” It is crucial to note here that this standard is patently unfair: The female range for testosterone is “&lt;1 nmol/L.&#8221; Furthermore, the National Library cites multiple studies demonstrating hormone therapy’s “limited success” with one study revealing that although male-to-female trans individuals’ testosterone levels “decreased significantly,” “nearly all” failed to reach female levels.
Additionally, current testosterone levels are a faulty metric to begin with: Male exposure to “testosterone secreted before birth … and postnatally &#8230; has driven permanent effects.” Females have “10-12%” smaller lung capacity and heart size “85% that of males.” Further studies reveal that male-to-female trans-identifying individuals experience “no bone mass loss” after “28-63 months of estrogen therapy,” and lose just “5-10%” of what can be a “50-75%” muscle mass advantage, an effect which evidence indicates could be “mitigated” by exercise. The implications of these findings upon policy for a highly aerobic, plyometric sport such as Irish dance ought to be self-evident.
Already, in the U.S., England, and Scotland, girls have been deprived of titles, World Qualifications, World Medalist status, and other honors. And now, this past December, we had to watch a boy win another female regional title. Anyone who was present or has seen the videos of that moment knows how discouraged his female competitors and their parents and teachers were.
One mother I spoke to asked to remain anonymous and expressed her frustration. Her daughter has competed in Irish dancing for eight years. She says this issue is “a biological thing,” citing the example of her 11-year-old son who has already overtaken his highly-ranked 15-year-old sister’s best cross-country runtime. Regarding dance, she says: “There’s a lot of disappointment from the girls feeling like there’s nothing that they can do training wise.” 
“There were a bunch of girls that have retired &#8230; and have cited this as the cause of why they were retiring. In particular, two girls that are on the podium &#8230; almost every year.”
It is not only parents who see injustice in this practice. One dancer, who competes at the North American level, talked to me about not just her own but also her competitors’ sadness on the changes to their competition: “We work all year for this championship &#8230; and we expect it to be just a girl’s competition.” She says the biological males “tend to be more aggressive, dominant, and take over the stage,” and deprive her competition of opportunities like “getting a recall or a national qualification.” “The majority of us girls feel that disappointment and disagree with” the policy. She concludes, “Awards for me used to be the absolute highlight of Oireachtas &#8230; but this year, when the boy won the championship title for the second time &#8230; my gut dropped.” Another highly-ranked dancer in the competition concurs, recalling that awards “felt pretty awkward.”
They were not alone in their displeasure, with the first dancer noting that “many of us” and “lots of the audience” did not applaud. What used to be “a fun vibe” of “friendship and girlhood backstage” has shifted to one in which “everyone is now on edge.”

In addition to a physical advantage, boys dancing against girls poses a greater risk for female injuries. Power and swift motion are key components of Irish dancing, and we usually compete two or three dancers at once. Despite our best efforts, differing choreographic floor patterns and an impulse to retain the front of the stage or lose points for timidity sometimes cause collisions.
An anonymous male World Qualifier, talking to me about his in-studio training, said that “aggression is a very big difference between how I dance” compared with “girls at the studio,” continuing to say that “boys will take the front of the stage more definitively,” than girls, who have cause to fear accidental collisions with boys. He speaks strictly out of a sense of fairness, stating that if “a biological male who identifies as a female competed in the male competition, I would have no problem with that.”
It is past time to end this open discrimination against our girls. Given the obvious evidence demonstrating the physical advantages of boys over girls, and the widespread recognition of injustice among the dance community, it ought to be very clear that our girls deserve their own competitions. Although many of the parents, dancers, and instructors who have spoken out on this topic have chosen to remain anonymous, fearing ended careers or vitriolic tirades against personal character, those of us who wish to protect our girls do not ascribe to such “cancel culture.” We do not call for ostracization or exclusion based upon differing beliefs; dancing is a joy which is and should be accessible to everyone. Just never at the cost of young women’s dreams.

Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alexandria-ocasio-cortez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</a> (D-NY) raged at Republicans on Tuesday as the House debated the Protection of Women and Girls Act.
The bill, which aims to protect women’s sports leagues by keeping male athletes who identify as females from competing against women, passed the House with only two Democrats voting in support of it.
Ocasio-Cortez claimed on the House floor that Republicans support women &#8220;bleeding out in parking lots across the country, standing there, allowing us to die.&#8221;
She said that Republicans were &#8220;pretend[ing]&#8221; to &#8220;care about women&#8221; because they want to conduct &#8220;genital examinations into little girls in this country, in the so-called name of attacking trans girls.&#8221;
&#8220;The majority right now says there&#8217;s no place in this bill that says it opens up for genital examinations,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;There&#8217;s no enforcement mechanism in this bill. And when there is no enforcement mechanism, you open the door to every enforcement mechanism.&#8221;
&#8220;Trans girls are girls,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;And for all the folks that are so concerned, thank you for your concern about women for the first time that I&#8217;ve seen, I don&#8217;t know about y&#8217;all, I don&#8217;t know who&#8217;s been to gym class lately, but girls, even if you only believe in two genders, I&#8217;ve played co-ed sports all the time.&#8221;

&#8220;But what this also opens the door for is for women to try to perform a very specific kind of femininity for the very kind of men who are drafting this bill, and to open up questioning of who is a woman because of how we look, how we present ourselves, and yes, what we choose to do with our bodies,&#8221; she added.
She claimed that bigots and sexual assaulters loved the bill, along with CEOs.
She claimed CEOs loved the bill &#8220;because Los Angeles is on fire right now and this is the number one priority this majority has.&#8221;
It&#8217;s unclear what she was talking about.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tennessee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee</a> House Republicans unanimously called on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to reverse its controversial decision to allow trans-identifying males in women&#8217;s sports.
The new letter signed by all 75 House Republicans was sent on the first day of the NCAA&#8217;s annual convention, which takes place in Nashville.
&#8220;The hard work of female athletes is now in serious jeopardy. The NCAA’s 2010 rule change allowing men who decide to be women and displace real women in competitive sports has had devastating consequences,&#8221; read the letter to NCAA President Charlie Baker.
The NCAA oversees more than 500,000 college athletes at about 1,100 schools.
The letter outlines several concerns with trans-identifying males in women&#8217;s sports, including the physical safety of female athletes, lost victories, and lack of privacy in women&#8217;s locker rooms.
&#8220;Forcing women to compete against males in noncontact sports is unfair at best, but allowing them to compete in contact sports approaches abuse and creates opportunities for serious injury,&#8221; the Republicans wrote. &#8220;And when a man is given access to female locker rooms and bathrooms, it infringes on every woman’s reasonable expectation to the right of privacy and robs their dignity.&#8221;
The lawmakers called the idea &#8220;absurd&#8221; that men competing against women is &#8220;inclusive and safe.&#8221;
&#8220;The actions by the NCAA are humiliating and destructive to young women and the NCAA’s leaders should know and act better,&#8221; they said.

The Republicans called on the collegiate sports governing body to &#8220;take bold action to protect women’s sports&#8221; during their convention this month.
The letter was spearheaded by House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, who also on Tuesday filed a measure honoring Tennessee native and former college athlete Riley Gaines for her advocacy against men in women&#8217;s sports.
“Americans have spoken loud and clear on this issue, and they do not want men entering their daughters’ locker rooms or bathrooms, stealing their scholarship opportunities and robbing them of their records and hard-fought victories. We are hopeful the NCAA will do the right thing; Men have no place in women’s sports,” Garrett said in a statement.
Over the last few years, the country has seen fierce backlash to trans-identifying men competing with and against women.
Female athletes have spoken out about losing competitions to male competitors, their uncomfortable experiences being in a locker room with a male, and several have suffered devastating <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/female-student-athlete-seriously-injured-in-field-hockey-game-involving-male-player-reports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">injuries</a> due to a male player.
Tennessee has passed several laws aimed at keeping males out of women&#8217;s sports at both the <a href="https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/acts/112/pub/pc0040.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">K-12</a> and <a href="https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/acts/112/pub/pc1005.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">college</a> level.
