At least forty people were killed as fierce winds and tornadoes ripped across the country over the weekend, slamming the Midwest and the South. 
Twenty-four of the deaths were attributed to tornadoes, while wind-fueled dust storms and fires resulted in another 16 deaths. At least 12 people <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/live-updates/tornado-outbreak-live-updates-18-dead-dozens-injured/?id=119832914" target="_blank" rel="noopener">were</a> killed in Missouri, three in Alabama, eight in Kansas, six in Mississippi, four in Texas, three in Arkansas, and four in Oklahoma. 
Tens of thousands of customers are still out of power after the storms raced across the country up into Pennsylvania and New York. More than 25,000 customers are without electricity in Missouri, 56,000 in Pennsylvania, and 23,000 in New York, <a href="https://poweroutage.us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to PowerOutage.us. 
President Donald Trump said Sunday that he had activated the National Guard in response to the storms. 
“We are actively monitoring the severe tornadoes and storms that have impacted many States across the South and Midwest — 36 innocent lives have been lost, and many more devastated,” he <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114174243289152293">posted</a> on Truth Social on Sunday. “The National Guard have been deployed to Arkansas, and my Administration is ready to assist State and Local Officials, as they help their communities to try and recover from the damage. Please join Melania and me in praying for everyone impacted by these terrible storms!”

In Kansas, a wind-fueled dust storm <a href="https://www.ksn.com/news/state-regional/dust-settles-on-71-vehicle-pileup-8-fatalities-near-goodland/">caused</a> a 70-car pileup on Interstate 70 that killed eight people near Goodland on Friday. 
“I’ve seen it before, but this is probably the worst I’ve ever seen,” Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Tod Hileman told KSNW. 
Missouri, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama were all slammed by tornadoes, as at least 56 developed across 10 different states, <a href="https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/severe-weather-tornadoes-dust-storm-blizzard-midwest-plains-southeast-east-coast" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Fox Forecast Center. Southeast Missouri was hit particularly hard after storms ripped through Wayne, Ozark, Butler, and Jefferson counties. 
Videos posted online also showed widespread tornado damage in Mississippi.

Alabama Republican Governor Kay Ivey said on Sunday that most of her state had been impacted by the storms. 
“We have reports of damage in 52 of our 67 counties. Our damage assessment continues. The sun has risen in Alabama, though. We pray for those lives we lost, as well as those who were injured. And we pray for our first responders, emergency management officials and linemen who are doing incredible work on the ground right now,” she said.

At least four people were killed in three states as the South was hit by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/severe-weather" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tornadoes</a> over the weekend, leaving tens of thousands without power.
Tornadoes were reported in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina as a severe storm system bringing strong winds and heavy rain moved through the region on Saturday and Sunday. Two people were killed in Mississippi, one in Texas, and another in North Carolina due to the storms.
As of Monday morning, <a href="https://poweroutage.us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than</a> 32,000 customers in Mississippi and 4,000 in Texas were without power, along with thousands more in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. Outages in Mississippi at one point topped 100,000, according to Republican Governor Tate Reeves. 
Reeves also announced that there were fatalities in Adams County and Lowndes County.
“The state of Mississippi will continue to monitor the situation and respond as necessary,” Reeves <a href="https://www.facebook.com/tatereeves/posts/pfbid02rdPaubGBCwhBxnChZUTL3t1o1x5NbekxcSLWB3Zrvak8zCNaeZAfNRi9PhBjomiql" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Sunday. “Thank you to all of the emergency managers, first responders, and road and line crews who are working hard to help their fellow Mississippians.”
One church in Meadville, Mississippi, was almost <a href="https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/tornado-strikes-mississippi-church-second-time-90-years" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entirely destroyed</a> as a tornado ripped through. Two church members were inside at the time but were not injured. 
&#8220;After all this, there&#8217;s one bare spot in this church, about a 6-foot diameter, that has a clean floor,&#8221; one of the congregants of O&#8217;Zion Church who survived the storm told Fox Weather. &#8220;That&#8217;s where she and I were laying, in that clean spot. After it was over with, we stood up and …. we didn&#8217;t have a splinter on us. We didn&#8217;t have a speck of dust on us.&#8221;
In Texas, a fatality from the storms was reported in Brazoria County, which is located south of Houston. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one person had been killed and four injured after a tornado touchdown somewhere between Liverpool and Hillcrest Village on Saturday. 
Footage posted online showed the tornado going through the Houston area.

“We rarely get tornadoes here in Brazoria County,” she said. “If we do, for there to be damage to this extent, or injuries, is also very uncommon.”
The fourth death from the storm occurred on Sunday in Mooresville, North Carolina. Law enforcement <a href="https://www.wbtv.com/2024/12/29/troopers-respond-crash-rowan-iredell-county-line/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> 70-year-old Matthew Teeple of Tennessee was killed when a tree fell on his truck.

4 Dead After Tornadoes Rip Through South Bringing Torrential Rain, Wind

Tornadoes and thunderstorms left over half a million customers in an area of northern Texas without power by Tuesday morning, the day after the Memorial Day weekend.
According to <a href="https://poweroutage.us/area/state/texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PowerOutageUS.com</a>, over 700,000 customers in the counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Kaufman, Rockwell, Tarrant, and Wise were left without power.
Four tornadoes <a href="https://www.wfaa.com/article/weather/texas-tornado-north-cooke-county-damage-national-weather-service-ef-rating-wind-speeds-path/287-724a3ec4-9f6f-4418-aca9-a1254d6b2341" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tore</a> through North Texas on Saturday night. One struck northeast of Celina at a speed of 165 mph; one tore through Cooke County and into Denton County at 135 mph; another tornado in Denton County struck the Ray Roberts Marina, and a fourth in Collin County moved from the northwest of Celina to south of Weston.
A severe thunderstorm watch was <a href="https://www.wfaa.com/article/weather/dfw-weather-severe-weather-thunderstornms/287-39ef8695-8dfd-43ea-a5a1-d3bed9750c84" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> for most of North Texas on Tuesday morning.
Seven people died in Valley View, located in Cooke County, from the storms on Saturday night. The seven deaths were reported after a tornado swept through a rural area near a mobile home park, according to Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/tornadoes-weather-texas-oklahoma-arkansas-kentucky-91b0ff5c06f9bdc8b8ca68f36afbafa2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Two of the victims were a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old. Three others killed in the north Texas storm were a mother and her two children, ages 15 and 9, according to NBC DFW.
The city of Valley View said locations for donations were available; United Methodist Church, 201 Church St., which needs diapers, wipes, pet food and hygiene supplies; the Community Center, 101 Lee St., which needs non-perishable food, sports drinks, large black trash bags and personal hygiene products, and the Agricultural Sciences Building, 700 S. At least 19 people are dead as severe storms and tornadoes swept across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kentucky over the weekend, and more than 100 million people are at risk of severe weather on the East Coast on Monday.
The deadliest storms were in Arkansas, where eight people have been confirmed dead, and Texas, where seven people have died, CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/weather/live-news/oklahoma-texas-arkansas-tornado-storms-05-27-24-intl-hnk/h_474a6566637f3d58ffba8a2a66d7df59" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Two people have been confirmed dead in Oklahoma following the storms and another two people were killed in Kentucky when the severe weather ripped through most of the Bluegrass State on Sunday night.

The storms continued east through Arkansas, where the city of Rogers was hit hard by a tornado early Sunday morning. Aerial footage of the town showed numerous homes and buildings that were leveled by the storm.

Forecasters said that storms are likely to move through states from Alabama to as far east as New York on Monday. New York City; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and Raleigh, North Carolina are all under a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms throughout Memorial Day, and isolated tornadoes are possible, The Weather Channel <a href="https://weather.com/storms/severe/video/severe-storms-for-east-coast-today" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.

Memorial Day Weekend Storms Rip Through Multiple States, Kill At Least 19 People

Tornadoes ripped through <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/iowa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Iowa</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nebraska" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nebraska</a> on Friday, with no reported deaths despite whole neighborhoods being destroyed. 
Parts of Omaha, Nebraska, and northwest Iowa were severely damaged by the storms. Omaha Fire Chief Kathy Bossman said that there were many houses “flattened” and many more with “significant damage.” Bossman added that emergency crews had to deal with power outages, downed power lines, gas leaks, downed trees, and buildings that had been made structurally unsound by the fierce tornadoes. 
&#8220;They&#8217;re going to be putting together a strategic plan for a detailed search of the area, starting with the properties with most damage,&#8221; Bossman said, <a href="https://journalstar.com/news/state-regional/tornadoes-omaha-elkhorn-blair/article_c696711e-0441-11ef-808d-034419cac7da.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Associated Press. &#8220;We&#8217;ll be looking throughout properties in debris piles, we&#8217;ll be looking in basements, trying to find any victims and make sure everybody is rescued who needs assistance.&#8221;
Pat Woods, who lives  in Omaha’s Elkhorn neighborhood, told the AP he and his wife saw the tornado touch down not far from their home.  
“We watched it touch down like 200 yards over there and then we took shelter,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We could hear it coming through. When we came up our fence was gone and we looked to the northwest and the whole neighborhood&#8217;s gone.”
Multiple people were injured from the tornadoes, including three people in Lancaster County, Nebraska, who were in an industrial building, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tornadoes-hit-nebraska-severe-storms-tear-across-midwest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. 
&#8220;I have ordered that state resources be made available to assist with the emergency response and to support local first responders as they assess the damage,” Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen <a href="https://omaha.com/news/local/weather/jim-pillen-nebraskas-members-of-congress-on-the-aftermath-of-the-tornadoes-in-nebraska/article_cee53ab0-042f-11ef-b804-4f37f171b6cd.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “Nebraskans are tough, resilient people, and our neighbors and communities will rally around affected families and businesses to assist them. Nebraskans are no strangers to severe weather and, as they have countless times before, Nebraskans will help Nebraskans to rebuild.&#8221;
Cities in Iowa were also hit hard, including Minden and Crescent, where the tornadoes traveled after ripping through Omaha.

Florida Democrats have once again taken to social media to voice their complaints about Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) — and their beef with him on this particular occasion appears to be &#8230; his inability to control the weather.
After severe storms — and even some tornado activity — rocked the Sunshine State, DeSantis declared a State of Emergency. Florida Democrats responded with a post on X that seemed to blame the Republican governor for failing to stop the storms, suggesting that he was a hypocrite for supporting environmental protection.

A young couple’s infant son was miraculously found alive in a downed tree after their mobile home in Clarksville, Tennessee, was obliterated last weekend when a deadly EF-3 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/massive-tornados-sweep-through-tennessee-hammer-nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tornado swept through the city</a>.
Sydney Moore, a 22-year-old mother of a 1-year-old and a 4-month-old, said her youngest child, Lord, was sleeping in a bassinet when the tornado hit on Saturday afternoon, WSMV 4 <a href="https://www.wsmv.com/2023/12/12/4-month-old-survives-after-being-sucked-up-by-tornado-that-destroyed-clarksville-familys-home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Moore told a WSMV reporter that she saw her mobile home’s roof ripped off by the twister before it sucked up the bassinet with her baby inside it.
Moore’s boyfriend, the father of her children, rushed to save the 4-month-old child before he too was pulled away by the tornado. The young woman said she saw the tornado spin her boyfriend and baby around before it pulled them out of sight. Meanwhile, the mother hurriedly attempted to protect her other child.
“Something in me just told me to run and jump on top of my son,” Moore said. “Literally the moment I jumped on him, the walls collapsed.”
After the tornado passed, Moore and her boyfriend searched for Lord in the pouring rain, according to WSMV. The parents soon found their 4-month-old boy alive in a fallen tree with only a cut on his face. 
“I thought he was dead,” said Moore. “I was pretty sure he was dead and we weren’t going to be able to find him. But he’s here, and that’s by the grace of God.”
“It looked like a little tree cradle,” the mother added. “He was just laying there.” 
While the young family is grateful that they all survived the storm, footage from WSMV showed that Moore’s mobile home was completely destroyed, along with her vehicle. Moore’s sister Caitlyn started a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-to-rebuild-their-life-after-tornado" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GoFundMe</a> for the family, which has already received $53,000 of its $100,000 goal, as they seek to find a new place to live. For the next month, the family will live in a hotel courtesy of their rental company.

The Clarksville tornado was one of <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/tema-releases-flash-report-various-midstate-counties-impacted-by-catastrophic-tornado-outbreak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">13 that touched down</a> throughout Middle Tennessee on Saturday, claiming the lives of six people, including two children. The twister that hit Clarksville left a destruction path 11 miles long and 600 yards wide, according to the National Weather Service. Three people, including a child, lost their lives in Clarksville, and hundreds of homes were destroyed.

Pop superstar <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a> donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Relief organization CEO Hal Cato confirmed Swift’s financial contribution to the fund, per <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2023/12/11/tennessee-tornadoes-taylor-swift-donates-1-million-to-emergency-fund/71885257007/">The Tennessean</a>. Donations will provide victims with financial assistance, food, temporary housing, debris clean-up, and animal sheltering, plus other needs.
Destructive storms devastated the region over the weekend as several <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tornado">tornadoes</a> swept through <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tennessee">Tennessee</a> and Kentucky. At least six people died due to the severe weather, including two children.
Besides the confirmed deaths, more than 50 people were injured and buildings were damaged due to the storms. There were also sustained power outages in the area. Local Nashville outlet <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/tema-releases-flash-report-various-midstate-counties-impacted-by-catastrophic-tornado-outbreak">WZTV</a> reported that 13 tornadoes touched down in the region.
“This is devastating news and our hearts are broken for the families of those who lost loved ones,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said in a statement on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mcgtn/posts/pfbid0zi82EV3iUN9Rh1bHt54PertJ1bko31G1gYVYtzvfiDCYfj4sbfyeupig5352kjUml">Facebook</a>. “The City stands ready to help them in their time of grief.”
This isn’t the first time Swift provided aid to natural disaster victims in Tennessee. Even though the “Blank Space” singer hails from Pennsylvania, she has a property in Nashville and previously said that the state feels like her home. She donated money in March 2020 following deadly tornados in the region.

Swift also recently donated to a Michigan food bank, Gleaners, during an Eras Tour stop in Detroit.
“Taylor Swift’s support of food banks across the country comes at such a critical time for so many emergency food providers — when resources are down, and need is up,” Gleaners rep Kristin Sokul <a href="https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/brian-mccollum/2023/06/09/taylor-swift-makes-donation-to-gleaners-food-bank-ahead-of-detroit-shows/70307729007/">told</a> the Detroit Free Press.

A barbershop owner in Hendersonville, Tennessee says seeing his community&#8217;s response to the devastating tornado that damaged his shop gives him new faith in America.
&#8220;We were scared we lost everything. Until you see your phone and you see that many phone calls, there’s no fear here,” Steven Lightfoot, the owner of Hendersonville Barbers, told The Daily Wire a day after a tornado damaged his business. &#8220;You realize this is a group of people that want to make things right, and in the microcosm, everything you believe America is, or was, is still here.&#8221;
A structure from an adjacent building had flown into the side of his shop, causing glass to shatter and fly into the interior of the building. The barbershop was full of clients when the storm hit, with Lightfoot saying that roughly 12 to 15 employees and clients sought shelter in the business’s basement.

The <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/picture-gallery/weather/2023/12/09/tennesee-tornadoes-severe-weather-damage-clarksville-hendersonville/71867042007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tornado struck</a> not only Hendersonville, but also several other cities in middle Tennessee, including Gallatin, Clarksville, and Madison, leaving at least six people dead and over 160,000 residents without power.
Lightfoot says he&#8217;s determined to not only get his own shop ready — &#8220;if we get the generator working tomorrow I’ll cut hair tomorrow,&#8221; he said — but also to make sure everyone else gets back on their feet.
“We’re good, we’ll make it,&#8221; Lightfoot said. &#8220;Everybody else will too, because when we’re done here we’ll help everybody else.”
“In a moment like this you realize exactly what kind of people we are. The success of this area of the country will be a testament to what we are as a people,” he said.  “I don’t got fear or stress, it&#8217;s just going to take time.&#8221;

At least six people are dead after several tornados swept through <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tennessee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee</a> on Saturday — and at least one was reported in Kentucky — forcing people to take shelter and leaving a trail of devastation and damages in their wake.
As of Saturday night, two adults and a child <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/12/09/tennessee-tornado-fatalities/">reportedly</a> died in the area of Clarksville, Tennessee, and the Nashville Emergency Operation Center reported three more deaths. Montgomery County officials said more than 20 others were treated at a hospital and they are &#8220;in the search and rescue phase of this disaster&#8221; on Saturday night. FOX 17 News Meteorologist Greg Bobos <a href="https://fox17.com/news/local/gallery-daylight-shows-devastation-left-behind-by-tennessee-tornadoes-nashville-madison-gallatin-hendersonville-clarksville-damage-weather">reported</a> at least 15 tornados hit the region.
&#8220;This is devastating news and our hearts are broken for the families of those who lost loved ones,&#8221; <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mcgtn/posts/pfbid0zi82EV3iUN9Rh1bHt54PertJ1bko31G1gYVYtzvfiDCYfj4sbfyeupig5352kjUml">said</a> Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts. &#8220;The City stands ready to help them in their time of grief.&#8221;
&#8220;We mourn the lives lost &amp; ask that everyone continue to follow guidance from local &amp; state officials,&#8221; Tennessee Republican Governor Bill Lee said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/GovBillLee/status/1733674187800076524">statement</a> on X.
On Sunday morning, officials <a href="https://kutv.com/news/nation-world/state-of-emergency-issued-after-tornado-outbreak-slams-tennessee-severe-weather-emergency-declaration-6-killed-downed-power-lines-power-outages-devastating-damage">said</a> 22 structures in Nashville had collapsed and several others were damaged and unstable.
&#8220;Yesterday was unfortunately another heartbreaking day for Nashville and others in Middle Tennessee,&#8221; <a href="https://kutv.com/news/nation-world/state-of-emergency-issued-after-tornado-outbreak-slams-tennessee-severe-weather-emergency-declaration-6-killed-downed-power-lines-power-outages-devastating-damage">said</a> Nashville Mayor Freddie O&#8217;Connell during an update on Sunday. &#8220;While the days and weeks ahead will be challenging, we will respond.&#8221;
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for several areas across four states — Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee — shortly before noon on Saturday.

A tornado ripped apart a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pfizer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pfizer</a> manufacturing facility in North Carolina Wednesday afternoon, damaging a massive storage of critical medicines used in hospitals throughout the U.S.
The tornado caused significant damage in Nash County — damaging vegetation and homes — in addition to the Pfizer Rocky Mount facility.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said, “I’ve got reports of 50,000 pallets of medicine that are strewn across the facility and damaged through the rain and the wind.”

Pfizer said in a statement, &#8220;We can confirm that the Pfizer Rocky Mount facility was damaged by the tornado.&#8221;
&#8220;Pfizer colleagues at the site followed our established safety protocol and were able to evacuate. They are safe and accounted for,&#8221; the company added. &#8220;We are assessing the situation to determine the impact on production. Our thoughts are with our colleagues, our patients, and the community as we rebuild from this weather incident.&#8221;
The company&#8217;s website said that the Rocky Mount facility was &#8220;one of the largest sterile injectable facilities in the world, with more than 1.4 million square feet of manufacturing space on 250 acres in Eastern North Carolina.&#8221;
The facility is responsible for manufacturing nearly a quarter of all sterile injectables that are used in U.S. hospitals.

&#8220;At this facility, a wide range of products are produced, including anesthesia, analgesia, therapeutics, anti-infectives and neuromuscular blockers,&#8221; the company said. &#8220;These products are available in small volume presentations, such as ampules, vials and syringes, and large volume presentations, such as IV bags and semi-rigid bottles.&#8221;
The facility produces &#8220;more than 400 million units leaving the Rocky Mount site annually help treat patients around the world.&#8221;

Four people are dead and dozens injured after <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tornado" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deadly tornadoes</a> tore through <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/texas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Texas</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/florida" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florida</a> Thursday night. 
Three of the deaths were in the Texas Panhandle while the other occurred in Florida after a <a href="https://katv.com/news/nation-world/woman-killed-as-tornado-topples-tree-onto-florida-mobile-home-escambia-county-weather-wind-gusts-death-dead" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tornado caused</a> a tree to fall on a mobile home in Pensacola, killing the woman inside. Officials <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/devastating-tornado-tears-texas-town-3-dead-50/story?id=100103004">said</a> at least three people were dead in Perryton, Texas after a tornado passed through the town of about 8,500 people. 
According to Ochiltree County Sheriff Terry Bouchard, two of the victims, Becky Randall and Cindy Brangrove, were women in their 60s, while the third victim was 11-year-old Matthew Ramirez. Ramirez was discovered in a trailer park while Randall was located in a print shop and Brangrove at a food bank. Ruben Villegas, 64, is still missing in the aftermath of the tornado which reportedly destroyed 200 homes. 
Ochiltree General Hospital spokeswoman Amie Marrufo said that the hospital had treated 115 people for cuts, lacerations, and minor head injuries, Fox Weather <a href="https://www.foxweather.com/extreme-weather/perryton-texas-tornado-damage-survey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. 
&#8220;We&#8217;ve been very, very thankful for our local counties and hospitals for coming to our aid,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We&#8217;ve been blessed for a lot of good help. Luckily, this small town comes together when we need to.&#8221;
The Perryton Fire Department posted pictures of the destruction to Facebook, saying that the fire department “took a direct hit.”

“Keep praying for Perryton. We were hit hard! Tornado on ground for at least 1 mile and 1/4 mile wide,” the department posted. “Lives have been lost, and many homes and businesses lost! The Fire Department took a direct hit, our trucks and ambulances are driveable! We have  a lot of work in the days ahead to heal our community!”
In response to the destruction, Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) <a href="https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-deploys-state-emergency-response-resources-for-northwest-texas-tornadoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">activated</a> the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to help Perryton and asked for prayers for those impacted by the tornadoes. 
“The State of Texas is swiftly deploying critical emergency response resources to provide all necessary support and assistance to protect Texans and help those impacted by tornadoes in Perryton,” Abbott said in a statement. “I encourage all Texans to heed the guidance of state and local officials and to take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves and your loved ones. We remain ready to quickly provide any additional resources needed over the course of this severe weather event.”
In the coming days, more severe weather is expected to impact multiple states including New Jersey, Virginia, Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, and Florida.
