Videos circulated of prominent Democrats protesting Musk&#8217;s involvement in President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) could be heard shouting, &#8220;We&#8217;re gonna be in your face, we&#8217;re gonna be on your a**.&#8221; Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) warned the crowd that they only had days &#8220;to stop the destruction&#8221; of American democracy as they knew it.
The clip that really made the rounds showed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), holding hands with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), as he chanted, &#8220;We will win!&#8221; and &#8220;We won&#8217;t rest!&#8221;

While Ryan did not say that he disagreed with the reason for the protest, he made it clear that he was unimpressed by its execution.

Ryan was not the only Democrat to pan the protests — in fact, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/can-we-play-it-again-cnn-panel-cracks-up-over-ridiculous-dem-protests-against-elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN panel</a> came to a similar conclusion on Tuesday evening as even Democrat commentator Bakari Sellers admitted he was not a fan.
&#8220;I don’t want to hear Chuck Schumer saying, ‘We won’t lose’ and ‘We won’t rest.’ I’d rather have a small business owner up there talking about the impact on them. I’d rather have somebody who was displaced, who was a black woman, who’s worked hard to have her business out there chanting,&#8221; he said.
Republican commentator Scott Jennings thoroughly enjoyed the segment, first asking if host Abby Phillip could &#8220;play it again&#8221; and then adding, &#8220;Ladies and gentlemen: The American Left is so far off the rails, they’re going to have to get Google Maps to find their way back. Former Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) is making the case for how and why the Democratic Party should undergo a &#8220;complete reboot&#8221; after its candidates got clobbered nationally in the 2024 election.
Democrats are conducting election postmortems after losing the White House to President-elect Donald Trump and the Senate to Republicans. They also failed to win back the House.
In an interview on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU-ZMK5nXRM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MSNBC&#8217;s &#8220;The Weekend,&#8221;</a> Ryan was asked what House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) or future chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) should do going forward.
&#8220;You start with a complete reset,&#8221; Ryan said. &#8220;I mean, we need a rebrand. I think you and I have been talking about this since 2016, like, our brand is toxic in so many places and it is like, you are a Democrat?&#8221;

He added: &#8220;That’s the stuff we get like in Ohio. And so it needs — we need a complete reboot. We need a complete reboot with the DNC. We need a complete rebranding.&#8221;
Ryan, who lost to Trump&#8217;s vice presidential pick, J.D. Vance, in the 2022 U.S. Senate race in Ohio, argued that members of his party need to reassess what it means to be a Democrat.
&#8220;People want to trust us. They don’t want to go to Donald Trump. I’m telling you, the middle-of-the-road people, they’re holding their nose to vote for him,&#8221; Ryan said.
Ryan offered a number of suggestions for how the Democrats can recalibrate, such as embracing natural gas as an alternative to coal and backing off a &#8220;big fight&#8221; with the crypto industry.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve got to get back to the bread and butter policies,&#8221; Ryan said, adding that the Democratic Party should focus on wooing back working-class and other voters as well as offering a vision for the future.
He further suggested that Democrats need to &#8220;lead&#8221; on the economy and say &#8220;no&#8221; to some of the &#8220;issues&#8221; — even if members can be allies to those causes.
&#8220;The other thing that I think is really big: We can’t be for solely redistribution,&#8221; Ryan said, adding later, &#8220;We want people to aspire to make money in America. &#8230; It&#8217;s about growing the pie.&#8221;
Ryan posited his party should look back to the &#8220;Bill Clinton campaign,&#8221; put together a plan geared toward &#8220;reinventing&#8221; a &#8220;broken&#8221; government, and offer &#8220;more of a class-based upward mobility system.&#8221;

Republican Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance has won Ohio&#8217;s Senate election over Democratic opponent Tim Ryan, DecisionDeskHQ <a href="https://twitter.com/DecisionDeskHQ/status/1590193475550842880">projects</a>.
Decision Desk made the projection at 11:03 p.m. EST.
&#8220;We won, and we won big, ladies and gentlemen,&#8221; Vance said during his victory speech, noting that Ryan had called him to concede the election.
&#8220;We have a very simple j0b to do. It&#8217;s go to work every single day and fight for the people of Ohio,&#8221; Vance said to chants of &#8220;JD! JD!&#8221; from the crowd.
On the famous Mamaw, the woman who raised him and featured prominently in his bestselling book &#8220;Hillbilly Elegy,&#8221; Vance said, &#8220;We joked that if we could wheel her up today she would drop probably about five F-bombs on national TV, but she was a proud product of working people. She believed in the American dream. She believed in the prowess of this country &#8230; I will never forget the woman who raised me, I will never forget where I came from, and I will never forget the great people of Ohio.&#8221;
&#8220;We&#8217;ve been given an opportunity to do something, and that&#8217;s to govern, and to govern to make the lives of the people of Ohio better. That&#8217;s exactly what I aim to do, and because of you, I get a chance to do it,&#8221; he added.
Polls leading up to the election showed Vance with a razor-thin edge over Ryan. Vance pulled ahead of his opponent after the candidates faced each other in a pair of debates last month.
The senator-elect will succeed retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman, who announced last year that he would not seek a third term.
Vance, a venture capitalist who first became known through his 2016 memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” <a href="https://jdvance.com/">ran</a> on a platform of being an outsider who “knows what it’s like to live in a left-behind community” and will fight for normal Americans.
Vance, who was endorsed by former President Trump in April, ran on a conservative platform that included reining in spending to slow inflation, ending abortion, gaining energy independence, restoring manufacturing jobs in Ohio, finishing the southern border wall, breaking up big tech companies, combating the opioid epidemic, and ensuring election integrity.
Ryan, who represents the Buckeye State&#8217;s 13th Congressional District, has served in the House of Representatives since 2003. He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2019 before dropping out of the race to run for re-election to Congress.
Ryan ran for Senate as a moderate Democrat, at times attempting to distance himself from Democratic Party brass like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden, whose job approval numbers have been in the basement recently.
His platform included codifying the abortion laws laid out in Roe v. Wade, expanding capital access for minority-owned businesses, investing in Ohio’s infrastructure, expanding Medicare, strengthening border security, and passing the Equality Act, which would change the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
The election was one of the most closely watched Senate races this election cycle along with Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, and New Hampshire.
The winners of these races will decide the balance of power in the upper chamber. Democrats and Republicans currently hold 50 seats each, but Democrats currently control the majority due to the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Vance and Ryan sparred over a number of hot-button issues during the campaign, including racism, the economy, and election integrity.
During their last debate, Ryan <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/10/10/us/ohio-senate-debate-ryan-vance">attempted</a> to paint Vance as part of a fringe element, saying he is “running around with the election deniers, the extremists.”
Vance responded that Ryan is focused on the wrong concerns.
“I find it interesting how preoccupied you are with this at a time when people can’t afford groceries,” Vance said.
The candidates appeared together again at a Fox News town hall just a week before Election Day, where they took questions from the audience and emphasized their top issues.
Vance said that he believes big technology companies “in bed with the communist Chinese” pose the greatest threat to American democracy. He also said the opioid crisis and the border crisis could both be stopped by finishing the border wall and classifying drug cartels as terrorist organizations.
Ryan meanwhile made a play for the moderate vote, acknowledging that &#8220;crime is an issue&#8221; and saying he supports a middle class tax cut. However, on the economy, he <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/vance-and-ryan-fight-for-ohio-moderates-at-fox-news-town-hall-235637723.html">admitted</a> that the renewable energy items in the Inflation Reduction Act, which Ryan supported, will probably not immediately help Americans struggling with gas prices.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) backed another Democratic candidate on Tuesday, telling a journalist in Ohio that she would not vote for GOP Senate candidate J.D. Vance.
Cheney shared the comment during a conversation with journalist Judy Woodruff in Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday.
“I would not vote for J.D. Vance,” Cheney <a href="https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/politics/2022/11/01/liz-cheney-spurns-j-d-vance-backs-tim-ryan-in-ohio-race-for-senate/69610822007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.
When asked if she would vote for Ryan if she was a resident in Ohio, she responded, &#8220;I would.&#8221;
Vance and Ryan are competing to become the state&#8217;s next senator following Republican Sen. Rob Portman&#8217;s decision not to seek re-election.
Cheney&#8217;s remarks come after she has expressed support for a growing list of Democratic candidates in the final days ahead of the midterm election. The GOP congresswoman previously expressed her public endorsement of Michigan Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin in her re-election campaign against a Republican opponent.
“I’m proud to endorse Elissa Slotkin. Serving together on the Armed Services Committee, I have come to know Elissa as a good and honorable public servant who works hard for the people she represents, wants what’s best for the country, and is in this for the right reasons,” Cheney <a href="https://elissaforcongress.com/press-release-cheney/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement released by Slotkin&#8217;s campaign website.
“While Elissa and I have our policy disagreements, at a time when our nation is facing threats at home and abroad, we need serious, responsible, substantive members like Elissa in Congress. I encourage all voters in the 7th district – Republicans, Democrats, and Independents – to support her in this election,&#8221; she added.
Cheney&#8217;s political action group, The Great Task, also recently announced that it is spending $500,000 on airtime to urge Arizona voters to oppose GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchem.

Cheney lost her own state&#8217;s primary in August to Republican Harriet Hageman. Liz Cheney Backs Another Democrat, Says She ‘Would Not Vote’ For Ohio’s J.D. Vance Over Tim Ryan

Tim Ryan, Ohio&#8217;s Democratic nominee for Senate, has called for border security on the campaign trail, but just three years ago he pledged to strip funding from border authorities and support citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
In 2019, when Ryan was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) asked presidential candidates to pledge their support for several specific policies regarding illegal immigration.
Ryan agreed to support a path to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants. He also pledged to slash the detention budget of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and end the use of ICE detainers, his <a href="https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/oct/31/jd-vance/vance-wrongly-says-ryan-wanted-decriminalize-fenta/">answers</a> to the ACLU <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/23206181/ryan-aclu-candidate-questionnaire-2019.pdf">questionnaire</a> show.
The ACLU asked whether Ryan would promise to &#8220;champion legislation&#8221; that would provide &#8220;fair and achievable paths to citizenship&#8221; for 11 million illegal immigrants. Ryan checked &#8220;yes.&#8221;
&#8220;They are our neighbors, our colleagues, our friends, our family members,&#8221; the ACLU questionnaire said. &#8220;As long as we prevent these individuals from becoming citizens, we are institutionalizing a permanent underclass, primarily Latino, Asian, and Black, living and working in the U.S. but often unable or afraid to assert their civil and constitutional rights.&#8221;
The ACLU also asked whether Ryan would &#8220;commit to ending the use of ICE detainers,&#8221; which are requests from ICE to state or local law enforcement to detain an illegal immigrant until federal immigration authorities can take them into custody. Ryan indicated he would commit to doing so.
Ryan also took the ACLU pledge committing to reducing the size of the immigration detention system by &#8220;at least 75%,&#8221; including by &#8220;cutting ICE’s detention budget&#8221; and ending the detention of asylum seekers.
Over the course of his Senate campaign, Ryan has called for better security at the porous U.S.-Mexico border.
&#8220;On some of the border stuff, I think he’s made some big mistakes,&#8221; Ryan <a href="https://www.wfmj.com/clip/15342683/democratic-candidate-for-us-senate-tim-ryan">said</a> in September of President Joe Biden&#8217;s approach to the border.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve got to be firmer on the border,&#8221; the Ohio congressman said.
In May, Ryan held a joint briefing to discuss border security with several fellow members of the Bipartisan Border Security Technology Caucus.
“In 2021 alone, we know nearly two million unauthorized migrants came across the Mexican border. This calendar year is on pace to repeat those same numbers,” Ryan <a href="https://timryan.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-tim-ryan-and-colleagues-kick-bipartisan-border-security-technology">said</a> during the briefing.
“There’s eight billion people in the world and a lot of them want to live in the United States, so we need to make sure that we have an orderly process on how we let people into this country,” Ryan said.
Border authorities encountered more than two million migrants at the border in fiscal year 2022, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/22/politics/border-encounters-migrants-2022">according</a> to data released last month from Customs and Border Protection. Some of those encounters were people who repeatedly tried to cross the U.S. border.
In September, border authorities encountered nearly 228,000 migrants, up 12% from August, partly <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/22/politics/border-encounters-migrants-2022">due</a> to people fleeing failing regimes in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.
Ryan faces Republican candidate J.D. Vance in the general election on November 8.
Vance has run on a platform of strong border security that includes no amnesty for illegal immigrants, doubling the number of border agents, and working to finish construction of a border wall.

Democratic Ohio Senate candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-ryan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Ryan</a> cut a cringeworthy ad Friday in a seeming attempt to mask his liberal voting record.
Ryan posted the ad to his Twitter account Friday. In the ad, he attempts to downplay his record of voting in line with President Joe Biden using the fact that he does not always agree with his wife, Andrea. But Ryan has voted 100% of the time with Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on every major policy item.
&#8220;Some people think that they have to agree with their politicians 100% of the time,&#8221; Ryan captioned the ad on Twitter. &#8220;And I ask these people, &#8216;Are any of you married?’”
In the ad, Ryan is sitting on the couch with his wife. He then professes his love for his wife, while his stepdaughter looks at them and his stepson stares at his phone. &#8220;Gross,&#8221; the daughter says. &#8220;Yeah, it&#8217;s disgusting,&#8221; the son adds.
The ad then cuts back to Ryan and his wife on the couch. &#8220;If we have 10 conversations in one day, and agree on seven, we crack a bottle of wine,&#8221; the couple says before the ad cuts to a shot of them opening a bottle and toasting. &#8220;The same goes for the country,&#8221; Ryan continues. &#8220;We have to stop the stupid fights, find some common ground, and be Americans first.&#8221;

According to an analysis from <a href="https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/biden-congress-votes/tim-ryan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FiveThirtyEight</a>, Ryan has voted with Biden&#8217;s agenda 100% of the time. He also scored a plus-minus rating of +30.4%, meaning he far and away outperformed how much experts predicted he would agree with Biden. According to <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/represent/members/P000197-nancy-pelosi/compare-votes/R000577-tim-ryan/116" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ProPublica</a>, Ryan also agreed with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time in the 116th Congress, from 2019-2020.
Conservatives on Twitter mocked the ad, pointing out that despite Ryan&#8217;s appeal to bipartisanship, as a congressman, Ryan has agreed more with Biden and Pelosi than his own wife.

Thanks to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s declaration that COVID is still an emergency, even after the president stated that the pandemic was &#8220;over,&#8221; members of Congress are still allowed to vote via proxy — allowing someone else to cast their votes in person. The theory is that COVID poses a risk to some, and they cannot travel for work. Of course, theories don&#8217;t always transfer into reality, and some folks like Ryan are using the measure for personal travel and fundraising opportunities.

As flagged by The Wrap, Ryan <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/ohio-senate-hopeful-tim-ryan-175143254.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">met</a> with a number of  &#8220;Hollywood-esque type people who care about politics&#8221; at multiple fundraisers Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Hollywood super-agent Jay Sures hosted Ryan at one dinner and told The Wrap, &#8220;I’ve been friends with Tim, and I’m hosting because I think he’s amazing.&#8221;
&#8220;He someone I’ve known for a while,&#8221; Sures added. &#8220;I care about him and I would really like to see him and his family do well.&#8221;
Per The Washington Free Beacon, Ryan also <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/tim-ryan-attends-fundraiser-hosted-by-attorney-who-pressed-to-minimize-payouts-to-nassars-victims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">met</a> with &#8220;Mitchell Kamin, a high-powered Los Angeles-based litigator.&#8221;
Kamin represented  the &#8220;U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, which in 2020 attempted to avoid paying damages to the victims of former U.S. women&#8217;s national gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted in 2017 of systematically sexually abusing women and girls.&#8221;
Ryan isn&#8217;t the first Democrat caught playing hookey while blaming COVID. Last winter, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) voted proxy throughout December, yet traveled to Miami, Florida, for a New Year&#8217;s rendezvous with her then-boyfriend. The democratic-socialist stated that critics of her trip were simply jealous and sexually frustrated men who wanted to date her.
AOC wasn&#8217;t fundraising, she was doing things like partying at a <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10363679/AOC-spotted-partying-maskless-crowded-drag-bar-Miami-vacation.html">drag brunch with celebrity Billy Porter</a>. She shortly caught COVID after the trip.
Republican members of Congress have also taken advantage of the House&#8217;s lax proxy rules, including <a href="https://www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com/news/local-news/2022/01/sefanik-votes-by-proxy-to-fundraise-with-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">high-ranking</a> Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
For his part, Ryan is apparently hoping to catch some momentum in his race against Vance. Polling <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/senate/oh/ohio_senate_vance_vs_ryan-7624.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shows</a> that Vance has a slight lead.

Ryan has attempted to rebrand himself as a moderate Democrat in his Senate race against GOP candidate JD Vance, but critics say his language is evidence of his extremism.
“The Democrats aren’t right on everything,&#8221; Ryan said on Tuesday. &#8220;And I’m willing to sit down and have conversations about how we can move out of this age of stupidity and into an age of reconciliation and reform. How do we fix all of these broken systems? Some of those answers will come from Republicans, not the extremists that we are dealing with every single day. We’ve got to kill and confront that movement, but working with normal mainstream Republicans, I think that’s going to be really, really important because we have to reform these systems.&#8221;

The Ohio congressman has attempted to distance himself from the president, even <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicholasreimann/2022/09/09/rep-tim-ryan-suggests-biden-shouldnt-run-in-2024-joining-these-other-democrats/?sh=31a324336233" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggesting</a> that Biden should not seek re-election in 2024. However, Ryan&#8217;s comments on Tuesday morning echo President Joe Biden&#8217;s stance on what he calls &#8220;MAGA Republicans.&#8221;
Ryan&#8217;s remarks come just weeks after Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-soul-of-joe-bidens-america-is-dark-as-hell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">delivered</a> a primetime speech in front of Independence Hall declaring that &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; are a threat to the nation&#8217;s very foundation.
Last Thursday, the president also told the Democratic National Committee, &#8220;Extreme MAGA Republicans just don&#8217;t threaten our personal and economic rights, they embrace political violence.&#8221;
“They refuse to accept the will of the people,” Biden <a href="https://apnews.com/article/2022-midterm-elections-biden-donald-trump-presidential-pennsylvania-edd46881a1c0c71df97663ac37236f26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a>. “They threaten our very democracy.”
Ryan&#8217;s authenticity has also been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/midterm-exam-all-the-latest-on-the-2022-elections-part-two-4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called into question</a> in recent weeks after he flip-flopped on whether or not to ban gas vehicles.
While running for the presidency, Ryan said in 2019, “Senator Sanders and I got into this in the debate a little bit. He was like, banning gas cars in 2040. In my mind, in all honesty, it’s like okay great, whatever, but if we’re waiting for 2040 to get rid of gas vehicles, we’re doing something terribly wrong.”
Politico’s Natalie Allison tweeted, “Tim Ryan running for president in 2019 said Bernie Sanders’ plan to ban gas cars by 2040 wasn’t aggressive enough, @haleybemiller reports. His Senate campaign now ‘maintains that he doesn’t support gas vehicle bans.’”

In response, Vance remarked, “Tim Ryan’s plan to eliminate gas-powered vehicles is radically disconnected from the needs of everyday Ohioans, and is even more extreme than Bernie Sanders’ proposal.”
“This would impoverish thousands of workers in our state, but Tim Ryan is more focused on the fact that it would enrich his liberal donors,” Vance continued. “The working people of Ohio are going to reject his far-left climate insanity come November.”
Polls currently <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/republican-jd-vance-democrat-tim-ryan-tied-ohio-senate-race-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">show</a> that Vance and Ryan are neck and neck.

Ohio Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, who is running against Republican J.D. Vance for the Senate seat to be vacated by GOP Senator Rob Portman, admitted that the “Democratic brand” could hurt him in the November election.
Ryan was interviewed by Manu Raju of CNN, who pointed out that Ryan’s ads “do not emphasize he is a Democrat and often votes with President Biden.” He asked Ryan, “Is that because it&#8217;s an implicit recognition that it&#8217;s a liability here?”
“Yeah, well, I mean, the Democratic brand, as we know, and you and I have talked about this for a long time is not good in a lot of these places,” Ryan confessed.
Ryan then made another in one of his continuing attempts to limn himself as a Democrat willing to take on his own party, saying, “What I want people to know is in this environment, do you have the guts to take on your own party? And from my vantage point for me, it&#8217;s a resounding yes.”
But as <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/dont-fall-makeover-tim-ryan-liberal-democrat-opinion-1736980">Newsweek</a> pointed out, the perception Ryan is attempting to create is absurdly false:

In the present iteration of Congress, Ryan has voted for Biden&#8217;s positions every time.
Video footage <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/you-can-count-on-me-video-shows-tim-ryan-admitting-hes-avoiding-his-progressive-stances-on-culture-wars/">obtained by The Daily Wire</a> showed a private Zoom meeting with the Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus, at which Ryan admitted that he would continue to vote with his progressive Democratic colleagues on abortion, LGBTQ and trans issues.
Asked by a caller, “Will you be the advocate that we need on abortion rights, the advocate that we need on trans people’s human dignity and their human rights and on gay rights?”
Ryan noted he had heavily supported the <a href="https://timryan.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-tim-ryan-votes-defend-womens-reproductive-health-freedoms">Women&#8217;s Health Protection Act</a>, adding, “&#8221;I’ve been very vocal on these other issues that you mentioned. So you can count on me to be in the fight … I’m progressive. I’m going to vote that way. I’m going to support you in every way, shape, or form … You can count on me.”
Yet one of Ryan’s TV ads featured him saying, “You want culture wars? I’m not your guy. You want a fighter for Ohio? I’m all in.”

Tim Ryan has painted himself as a moderate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-party">Democratic</a> candidate determined to represent the interests of the working families of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ohio">Ohio</a>, insisting that he&#8217;s uninterested in &#8220;culture wars.&#8221;
Video footage obtained by The Daily Wire, however, suggests that Ryan is a staunch progressive who has been avoiding discussing the “culture wars” on the campaign trail because these issues “don’t serve us very well in Ohio.”
During a private Zoom meeting with the Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus, he admitted that he will continue to vote with his progressive Democratic peers on abortion, LGBTQ and trans issues. Ryan did not immediately respond to requests for comment for this story.
“We’re keeping the message very much around economics,&#8221; Ryan said during the virtual March meeting. &#8220;You know, staying away from the culture wars, which don’t serve us very well in Ohio.”

“You keep mentioning that you’re not about the culture wars and you know you’re talking about these bread-and-butter issues for people,&#8221; a woman on the call asked him. &#8220;But as a young woman of reproductive age, as someone who identifies as queer and who has a lot of friends in the queer community, I just want to make sure, like, will you be the advocate that we need on abortion rights, the advocate that we need on trans people’s human dignity and their human rights and on gay rights?”
Ryan responded by assuring the woman that he gave a floor speech mere days before on the <a href="https://timryan.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-tim-ryan-votes-defend-womens-reproductive-health-freedoms">Women&#8217;s Health Protection Act</a>, noting that he heavily supported and voted for the legislation (which would codify a right to an abortion nationwide).
&#8220;I’ve been very vocal on these other issues that you mentioned,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;So you can count on me to be in the fight … I’m progressive. I’m going to vote that way. I’m going to support you in every way, shape, or form … You can count on me.”
The comments do not jive well with the Democratic senatorial candidate&#8217;s campaign messaging. In one of his first TV ads during the general election, Ryan warned the audience as he played darts: “You want culture wars? I’m not your guy. You want a fighter for Ohio? I’m all in.”

Polls show Republican candidate JD Vance and Ryan are <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jd-vance-leads-ryan-ohio-senate-poll-dewine-whaley-2022-8">neck and neck</a> heading into the midterms.
&#8220;On TV screens all across Ohio, Tim Ryan plays the part of a moderate Democrat in his campaign commercials,&#8221; Vance told The Daily Wire. &#8220;In real life, Tim Ryan promises far-left liberals behind closed doors that he&#8217;ll be a fighter for the radical woke agenda that&#8217;s destroying the fabric of our society. And make no mistake, he has delivered on those promises in the form of his destructive voting record.&#8221;
“He has voted for taxpayer-funded late-term abortion, for transgender students to compete in girls&#8217; sports, and he approved tens of millions in funding for programs to indoctrinate America&#8217;s youth with toxic, racist propaganda,&#8221; the Republican candidate added. &#8220;Tim Ryan claims he takes no part in the culture wars, but his record proves that he is the face of woke, radical far-left extremism in Ohio.&#8221;
Ryan&#8217;s past voting record also indicates that he votes with some of the most radical members of the Democratic Party on culture war legislation.
In addition to his vote for the most pro-abortion legislation the House of Representatives has ever seen, he&#8217;s also voted for the Equality Act, legislation that would require that biological males who identify as transgender women be allowed to compete in girls sports.
Ryan voted for President Joe Biden&#8217;s “American Rescue Plan” in 2021, legislation that funneled <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/15m-american-rescue-plan-funds-went-anti-racism-social-activism-programs-kids?intcmp=tw_fnc">millions</a> into programs teaching children about &#8220;racial equity,&#8221; anti-racist&#8221; education, and &#8220;social activism.&#8221;
In 2002, Ryan also voted as an Ohio state senator against a bill that would expand the state&#8217;s sex offender registry to include sex offenders who were not yet 18. News reports from the time show that he said the bill lacked counseling provisions and would inhibit the rehabilitation of juveniles.
As recently as last week, Ryan would not say whether he supported a single restriction on abortion, insisting that an abortion should be a decision between a woman and her doctor.

In response, former Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel said in a statement provided to The Daily Wire, &#8220;Tim Ryan’s Democrat Party is the home for anyone who hates Israel and despises the Jewish people’s right to self-defense and peace.&#8221;
In the past, Ryan has avoided condemning Democratic representatives like Congressman Ilhan Omar (MN) for espousing anti-Israel rhetoric.
Mandel, who Vance defeated in the Ohio GOP Senate primary, added, &#8220;J.D. Vance will be a strong friend and ally of the US-Israel relationship and should be applauded, not attacked, for taking the time to visit the Holyland.&#8221;
Michael Byer, a communications staffer for the Ohio Democratic Party, also tweeted, &#8220;J.D. Vance said he feels ‘out of place’ in Ohio &#8211; so of course he’d rather be anywhere but here #OHSen.”

Brad Kastan, chairman of the Community Relations Council of JewishColumbus, also said in a statement given to The Daily Wire, &#8220;Israel is our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East. All Americans and particularly the citizens of Ohio benefit from the strong strategic and economic ties, not to mention shared values, we enjoy with Israel.&#8221;
&#8220;Ohio Democrats or anyone who appreciates the role our U.S. Senators must play in foreign policy should strongly encourage, not discourage, our leaders to visit the Jewish state,&#8221; he continued.
Ryan has previously supported the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, which Israel opposed. Ryan <a href="https://www.cfr.org/article/presidential-candidates-iran-nuclear-deal">criticized</a> former President Donald Trump for pulling the U.S. out of that agreement. While campaigning for president, Ryan <a href="https://www.cfr.org/article/presidential-candidates-iran-nuclear-deal">said</a> he &#8220;would absolutely support entering a new version of the JCPOA that extends restrictions even further into the future.&#8221;
Kastan added, &#8220;I would encourage Tim Ryan to join with Mr. Vance in calling on the Biden Administration to reject any support of future nuclear agreements that allows Iran to grow their influence without completely dismantling their nuclear infrastructure.&#8221;
Sam Markstein, Republican Jewish Coalition national political director, also weighed in on the situation and pointed out that Ryan is endorsed by the Left-leaning J Street, which critics <a href="https://www.jpost.com/opinion/can-j-street-stoop-any-lower-in-backing-anti-israel-views-opinion-666073">assert</a> holds animosity toward Israel while supporting pro-Palestinian policies.
“It’s sad and troubling that far-left Democrat Tim Ryan’s campaign and the Ohio Democratic Party would criticize JD Vance for traveling to our greatest ally in the Middle East, Israel,&#8221; Markstein told The Daily Wire in an e-mail. &#8220;Unfortunately, this reflects a growing trend of hostility to the Jewish state in the Democratic Party. Tim Ryan is endorsed by the anti-Israel group J Street, supports the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran that would endanger not only Israel but our regional partners, and consistently votes in lockstep with the failed Biden-Pelosi agenda.&#8221;
Markstein predicted Ohioans &#8220;will reject Tim Ryan and his radicalism this November.&#8221;
During his speech, the Vance <a href="https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-712661">told</a> the CPAC Israel crowd, &#8220;I will be as strong an advocate for the U.S.-Israel relationship as anyone.”
Vance also <a href="https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-712661">said</a> that the alliance is &#8220;an expression of deeper things, of cultural affinity and shared heritage and values.”
He also tweeted photos from his trip, saying, &#8220;Incredible to walk around Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel, and trace the footsteps of Christ today.&#8221;

Ohio Democrats Criticize J.D. Vance For Visiting America's Ally Israel

Ohio Democrat Tim Ryan, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat against Republican J.D. Vance, faced backlash online Wednesday over past remarks that he made about the U.S. Justice System.
In the controversial remarks, Ryan calls the U.S. Justice System &#8220;racist,&#8221; claiming that it was &#8220;the new Jim Crow.&#8221;
“I believe the current criminal justice system is racist,&#8221; Ryan <a href="https://twitter.com/henryrodgersdc/status/1537112726698348545?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1537112726698348545%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fpolitics%2F2022%2F06%2F15%2Fohio-democrat-tim-ryan-attacked-cops-in-2019-criminal-justice-system-is-racist%2F">said</a>. &#8220;I believe in my heart it’s the new Jim Crow.”
Even more shocking about Ryan&#8217;s remarks was the fact that they were made in the summer of 2019, a year before Black Lives Matter protests and riots rocked the nation following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.
Ryan&#8217;s remarks generated a wide range of responses from former U.S. officials, political figures, and media personalities.
Vance responded, &#8220;Hey @TimRyan care to comment?&#8221;
&#8220;Yikes!!!&#8221; Donald Trump Jr. responded. &#8220;We already knew that Two-Faced Tim Ryan was a flip-flopping fraud, but now he&#8217;s been exposed as a leftwing anti-police radical.&#8221;
Richard Grenell, the former Acting Director of National Intelligence, also weighed in, writing on Twitter: &#8220;I hope every police officer in Ohio and their family members see what @TimRyan said in 2019.&#8221;
&#8220;He joined the mob’s attacks on law enforcement!&#8221; Grenell added. &#8220;Disgraceful.&#8221;
