The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/the-masters">Masters</a> Tournament is arguably the best week of the year. Every year in April, the grass looks a little greener, the air feels a little warmer, and baby fever is out of control thanks to the Masters Par 3 Contest.
The Par 3 Contest takes place every year at the beginning of tournament week. It&#8217;s the day where the professional golfers battle in a friendly nine-hole competition with their families as the caddies. No offense to the golfers — by the way, no Par 3 winner has ever gone on to win the Masters — but that competition is all about the kids dressed in their mini Augusta caddy outfits golfing with Dad, and my heart can barely handle the cuteness.
Seeing the pros go full-on &#8220;dad mode&#8221; makes me eager to make those memories one day with my family, not at Augusta obviously (my husband is more of a track guy), but in general! And I&#8217;m not the only one swooning over these adorable scenes. Here are the best moments from this year&#8217;s family-focused event.

At this point, everyone is looking forward to the Par 3 Contest to see what Tommy Fleetwood&#8217;s eight-year-old son, Frankie, has to say. The guy takes his golf game seriously, and the kid has the swing to back it up. Fans chanted his name as he tried to clear Ike’s Pond at Augusta National.
&#8220;This afternoon I&#8217;m feeling good, so I feel like I&#8217;ve got a chance,&#8221; Fleetwood said ahead of hole 9.
And Frankie nearly did clear the pond!
&#8220;I’d like to thank everyone right now,” he said after his round as his father proudly looked on. &#8220;I don’t know their names, but yeah, I’d like to say thanks.&#8221;
Another moment that wowed is Meredith Scheffler showing up for her family just 12 days postpartum.

Scottie Scheffler is a pro&#8217;s pro, but so far this week his wife, Meredith, is the real MVP walking the course with their 12-day-old son, Remy! The newborn couldn&#8217;t miss out on the Par 3 fun with his family, including brother Bennett who turns two next month. Meredith wore the famous caddy outfit alongside her two-time Masters champion husband as they watched Bennett chop away at the ball like I&#8217;ve never seen a toddler do before!

Jake: The 2024 Masters begins today. Love him or hate him, Tiger Woods is the most impactful player to his sport in my lifetime — and possibly ever. There&#8217;s a good argument there. And if this weekend is his last go around at the Masters, and regardless of how well he plays or if he makes the cut, I am just thankful I got to be around to watch his rise, his fall, and his rise again.
Never before have I seen one man make a whole sport cool around the globe. He completely changed the way the game is played. He played the villain and the hero, made incredibly clutch shots in huge moments, and overcame adversity time and time again.
Growing up in our house, I loved watching Tiger and my father loved rooting against him because of his “on the course antics.” He was a little bit different in the way that he handled himself. But it didn’t matter how you felt about Tiger Woods: You were going to watch him. And that&#8217;s the most important thing. We saw him make grown men melt in front of our eyes, and he took over the sporting world over and over.
Has Tiger made some questionable choices in his past? Without a doubt. But that is all part of what&#8217;s been the Tiger Woods Experience. And unfortunately, we will never see someone do what he has done in the game of golf again, or maybe any other sport. But in golf, they don&#8217;t have to be concerned because Tiger&#8217;s already elevated the sport so much, from one poll to the other, that golf is here to stay in the forefront for the long haul.

In the discussion of the most impactful player to their sport, no other player’s impact on the game of golf compares to Tiger’s and the way he elevated the sport in every aspect. (I emphasize player because the most impactful person to their sport is the person who invented it because without that, none of this would even be possible.) But is there anybody that&#8217;s been more impactful than Tiger?
David: Well, no. Now, he may not be the greatest athlete of all time. For example, Wayne Gretzky, who we mentioned earlier this week, is just head and shoulders above everyone who has ever played hockey. But if you&#8217;re going to use the word “impactful,” then it would have to be Tiger Woods.
It just so happens that when Tiger was coming around and dominating, we were of the age we were interested and able to see his career unfold. That&#8217;s always going to be a part of our upbringing. But to prove his impact, you can look at the data when it comes to the sport. And I think he&#8217;s one of the first billionaire athletes as well, certainly the first billionaire golfer.
We should be thankful that he&#8217;s going to be competing in this Masters. I don&#8217;t know how well he will do, and I don&#8217;t know if he&#8217;ll make the cut — though his odds did improve overnight. They were +12,000 Wednesday and +10,000 today (Thursday). But it was just February 2021 when Tiger got in his car accident and people wondered if he would ever even walk again. And now, he&#8217;s going to be walking the greens at Augusta National this week. So for that, we should be thankful.
Jake: Blaine, is Tiger going to win? Is he going to make the cut?
Blaine: When it comes to the Masters, you just want to be close. You want to be in shooting range on Sunday where you can make a run. And I don&#8217;t think people realize how dominant Tiger was during his run. Looking at stats, for Scottie Scheffler to catch Tiger&#8217;s total weeks spent at number one, he would need to be at the top every week for 12 years and three days.
Jake: Well, enjoy your pimento cheese sandwiches, fathers and sons, and let&#8217;s see if Tiger can go on the prowl once again in Augusta.

Two professional <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/golf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">golfers</a>, including Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, have vowed to withdraw from the annual tournament if their wives go into labor.
With both their wives not only expecting, but due in 1-3 weeks, Sam Burns and Scheffler&#8217;s participation in Augusta National could be affected, the <a href="https://www.golfdigest.com/story/scottie-scheffler-sam-burns-labor-wives-2024-masters">Golf Channel</a> reported.
The 2022 Masters champion Scheffler and his wife Meredith are expecting their first child, with Meredith due by the end of the month. The couple tied the knot in 2020 and he is at Augusta to try and score his second victory in the annual golf tournament.
&#8220;It&#8217;s going to be pretty wild,&#8221; <a href="https://www.golfdigest.com/story/scottie-scheffler-sam-burns-labor-wives-2024-masters">Golf Digest</a> reported. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s hit either of us quite yet but it&#8217;s an exciting time for us as a family.&#8221;

Sam and Caroline tied the knot in 2019 and have known each other since childhood, <a href="https://people.com/who-is-caroline-campbell-sam-burns-wife-7972891">People magazine</a> noted.
&#8220;I couldn&#8217;t imagine doing life without you. Here&#8217;s to many more memories together with the most beautiful person I know inside and out. I love you, Caroline Burns!&#8221; Burns wrote as he <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CXeSdCjvoH-/?img_index=1">gushed about his wife in an Instagram</a> post in December 2021.
The two professionals are not the first to be dealing with expectant wives at the tournament, Golf Digest noted. In the final round of the Masters in 1999, it was Phil Mickelson&#8217;s turn when he was spotted carrying a beeper around Pinehurst in case his wife Amy went into labor.
Mickelson ended up getting second place behind Payne Stewart, with Amy giving birth the very next day, the outlet noted.
During a recent press conference, <a href="https://x.com/Sports_Spectrum/status/1777825685093921047">Scheffler</a> was asked what defines him and he replied, &#8220;Golf&#8217;s something that I do &#8230; but it doesn&#8217;t define me as a person.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m a faithful guy, I believe in a Creator, I believe in Jesus,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Ultimately I think that&#8217;s what defines me most.&#8221;

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/georgia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Georgia</a> man received an unforgettable letter last week when an invitation to compete in the Masters <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/golf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">golf</a> tournament was delivered to his address with his name on it.
Scott Stallings, a 60-year-old real estate agent, and his wife Jennifer found an envelope outside of their St. Simons Island, Georgia, home on New Year’s Eve. Upon opening the letter, the couple discovered an invitation to the annual golf tournament that takes place April 6-9, but Stallings, a casual golfer himself, soon realized that the invitation was intended for another Scott Stallings, a pro golfer whom he had watched play on TV.
“Right away, I know this isn’t me,” Stallings said, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/03/us/scott-stallings-masters-tournament-invitation.html">according</a> to The New York Times. “How in the heck did it show up here?”

Meanwhile, the pro golfer Scott Stallings was beginning to wonder when his Masters invitation would show up after they were sent out the week before Christmas. Stallings knew he had qualified for the tournament after reaching the Tour Championship last year, and thought that maybe his wife, whose name is also Jennifer, was going to give him the invitation for Christmas, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/sports-scott-stallings-georgia-3a94af2295be3a8c6cf9edca9f1fd4f3">reported</a>.
The pro golfer then received a message on Instagram from the other Scott Stallings informing him of the mixup.
“Hi Scott. My name is Scott Stallings as well and I’m from GA. My wife’s name is Jennifer too!” the real estate agent <a href="https://apnews.com/article/sports-scott-stallings-georgia-3a94af2295be3a8c6cf9edca9f1fd4f3">wrote</a>. “I received a FedEx today from the Masters inviting me to play in the Masters Tournament April 6-9, 2023. I’m (100 percent) sure this is NOT for me.”
The American golfer, who now lives in Tennesse, said he used to own a sports management company with an office in St. Simons Island, next to the other Scott Stallings’ condo.
Stallings thanked the man with the same name by inviting him to dinner and giving him tickets to join him for a practice round at the famed Augusta National.
“Literally had been checking the mailbox five times a day and then I got this random DM yesterday,” the golfer said, sharing a screenshot of the message he received. “My Masters invite got sent to a different Scott Stallings.”

Scheffler followed later by stating humbly, “The human condition is just to make things bigger than they really are. You know, years from now, people may not remember me as a champion and that’s fine. But in the moment, you think it’s a lot bigger deal than it really is.”
Scheffler has won four PGA Tour events in only 57 days, “marking the shortest stretch from a first to fourth victory in PGA Tour history,” <a href="https://au.sports.yahoo.com/masters-golf-2022-scottie-scheffler-wins-green-jacket-masters-title-makes-history-233805173.html">Yahoo Sports</a> noted. “He had already smashed Tiger Woods&#8217; record for shortest number of days (42) to rise to World No.1 after winning his first PGA Tour title.”
A reporter asked him, “Scottie, how did you handle the late tee time today? What did you do last night? What did you do this morning? And how many episodes of The Office did you watch?”
“You know, last night was pretty easy; I was tired, we went and got some food. I spilled my dinner in the car on the way home; that was extraordinarily frustrating,” Scheffler recalled, referencing his wife. “You can see Meredith is still laughing at me. She thought it was the funniest thing ever; I didn’t think it was so funny at the time. (laughing) And so last night was fine.”
“This morning was a totally different story; I cried like a baby this morning; I was so stressed out,” he admitted. “I didn’t know what to do. I was sitting there; I was telling Meredith, I was like, ‘I don’t think I’m ready for this, you know. I’m not ready. I don’t feel like I’m ready for this kind of stuff.’ And I just felt overwhelmed. And so she told me, ‘Who are you to say that you’re not ready? Who am I to say that I know what’s best for my life?’ And so we talked about that God is in control and the Lord is leading me, and if today’s my time, then it’s my time, and if I shot 82 today, somehow I was going to use it for His glory.”
“Gosh, it was a long morning. It was long,” Scheffler laughed.
Asked, “Did you calm down at any point,” Scheffler responded, “I think when — she made me some more food, I had a big breakfast. My stomach has been hurting for like two days straight. And so I would say I calmed down when I got to the course.”
A reporter asked why he felt the way he had in the morning. Scheffler replied, “I think because it’s The Masters. I’ve dreamed of having a chance to play in this golf tournament. I teared up the first time I got my invitation in the mail. We were fortunate enough to play here in college. I love this place. I love this golf course. If you’re going to choose a golf tournament to win this would be the tournament I want to win.”
“You don’t know how many chances you’re going to get, and so having a chance — I think I had a five-shot lead on Friday and then a three-shot lead going into today— I don’t know if you get better opportunities than that,” he said. “You don’t want to waste them. Woods said in an interview late last year that would not be returning to being a full-time professional golfer on the PGA Tour and will instead selectively pick which tournaments that he wants to compete in.
“I think something that is realistic is playing the tour one day—never full time, ever again—but pick and choose, just like Mr. [Ben] Hogan did. Pick and choose a few events a year and you play around that,” Woods <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tiger-woods-reveals-major-changes-to-the-future-of-his-golf-career-after-car-accident">said</a>. “You practice around that, and you gear yourself up for that. I think that’s how I’m going to have to play it from now on. It’s an unfortunate reality, but it’s my reality. And I understand it, and I accept it.”

“As of right now, I feel like I am going to play,&#8221; Woods told reporters on Tuesday. “As of right now. I’m going to play nine more holes tomorrow. My recovery has been good, I’ve been very excited about how I’ve recovered each and every day. And that’s been the challenge. That’s why I came up here and tested out for 27 holes, because we played the par 3 course, Charlie couldn’t help himself. So, was able to play 27 holes that day and at home, testing it. But it’s the recovery. How am I going to get all the swelling out and recover for the next day? My team has been fantastic and worked very hard. So, we’ve got another day of nine more holes, then come game time.”

On Sunday, Woods left the door open to compete this upcoming weekend, telling his fans that he’ll be a “game-time decision” for the Masters.
“I will be heading up to Augusta today to continue my preparation and practice,” Woods <a href="https://twitter.com/TigerWoods/status/1510613298022129668?s=20&amp;t=E8l4W5Uv5ShTyPliiNhmnw">posted</a> to Twitter on Sunday. “It will be a game-time decision on whether I compete. Congratulations to 16-year-old Anna Davis on an amazing win at the [Augusta National Women’s Amatuer] and good luck to all the kids in the [Drive, Chip &amp; Putt].”

“I think for golf and for the Masters Tournament and for everyone, to have Tiger there would be phenomenal,” Rory McIlroy told reporters in San Antonio earlier this week at the Valero Texas Open, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/33661937/tiger-woods-practice-augusta-national-game-decision-playing-masters">ESPN</a>. “I think it just adds to the event. Obviously, it does. Anything Tiger Woods does in the game of golf is heightened whenever he’s there. I mean, it would be awesome for him to be there.”
Woods has at least played a full round since the car crash, playing at the PNC Championship in December, though he did use a golf cart. Partnered with his son Charlie, Woods finished second behind two-time major champion John Daly and his son, turning heads on the final 18 holes with a string of 11 consecutive birdies. 
The first round of the Masters is Thursday, April 7.

The most famous golfer in the world on Tuesday spurred numerous reports that he might play next week&#8217;s Masters a little more than a year after suffering severe injuries in a car crash.
Eyan Lavner, senior writer at Golf Channel, was among the first to spark speculation. &#8220;Tiger, this you?&#8221; Lavner wrote on Twitter, posting a picture showing the flight path of a plane.

The 15-time major champion &#8212; who has won the Masters five times, remains on the list of 91 starters for the 2022 tournament, which begins on April 7.
The early reports were soon backed up by accounts saying Woods was playing a practice round with his son, Charlie, and his longtime friend, fellow PGA pro Justin Thomas. Finally, the Professional Golf Association Tour posted a tweet showing Woods with the caption: &#8220;Tiger Woods is practicing today at Augusta National.&#8221;

&#8220;An anonymous source told Sports Illustrated that the five-time Masters winner arrived at Augusta National on Tuesday with his son Charlie,&#8221; the PGA Tour <a href="https://www.pgatour.com/news/2022/03/29/tiger-woods-practicing-the-masters-augusta-national-will-he-play.html">wrote</a> in an article. &#8220;That confirmation came after social media accounts posted flight-tracking info that showed Woods’ private jet flying to Augusta earlier in the day. A Twitter account belonging to the Augusta-based aerial photography company Eureka Earth posted video of a plane with the logo of Woods’ TGR Foundation on the tail landing at Augusta’s airport, as well.&#8221;
If Woods does actually play, it would be his first start since a spectacular car crash in February 2021 that nearly led to the famous golfer having his leg amputated. Woods underwent numerous surgeries to repair his legs, and he played with son Charlie in a father-son tournament in December.
“You will see me on the PGA TOUR, I just don’t know when,” Woods told CBS’ Jim Nantz on the telecast of last month’s The Genesis Invitational, according to the PGA Tour.
But Woods has warned that it&#8217;s one thing to ride in a golf course and play &#8212; as he did with his son &#8212; and entirely another to walk a golf course over 72 holes. Especially Augusta National.
&#8220;Even the harshest critic would be hard-pressed to call a round at Augusta National &#8216;a good walk spoiled,&#8217; but the truth is, a round at the home of the Masters is definitely a good walk—a good, long walk,&#8221; Golf.com reported in 2019. &#8220;If you’ve only ever seen the course on TV, it’s almost impossible to imagine just how hilly and undulating (and we’re not talking about the greens here) the terrain can be.&#8221;
&#8220;Combine that with four consecutive days of tough, pressure-packed golf, and it’s easy to see why—at least as far as aerobic exercise is concerned—the Masters is a &#8216;tradition unlike any other.&#8217; It also highlights just how impressive a Masters win is for players like Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Mark O’Meara and Ben Hogan, all of whom won the tournament in their golf-rickety forties,&#8221; the site said.
Hogan famously came back from a devastating car crash, winning the Masters twice after suffering a double-fracture of the pelvis, along with fractures to his collar bone and left ankle.

Speculation Soars That Tiger Woods Could Play In Masters Next Week

Hello, friends. 
We’re back. The 85th playing of the Masters Tournament at famed Augusta National is underway and all feels right, if only for a moment.
The sun is shining, the smell of spring is in the air, and if you listen closely, the ping of drivers squarely hitting golf balls can be heard in the distance. If this doesn’t warm your soul, it might be time for some inner reflection. 
It’s been a brutal year. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected us all. For many, a separation from families has been the most difficult part, with the inability to meet with loved ones and friends causing loneliness and anxiety. But for others, the lack of sports at the beginning of the pandemic and subsequent lack of fans at events as games commenced, was troubling in its own right. 
The 2021 Masters is a return to normalcy. Last year&#8217;s tournament was truly “unlike any other,” as the traditional start date of the first full weekend of April was moved to November. The patrons, who are truly the heartbeat of The Masters, were not present, resulting in an eerie feeling throughout. 
Without fans, the tournament just didn’t feel the same. The lack of fans and the ability to listen in to conversations between golfers and their caddies was fun and different for a hot minute, but it quickly got old. With the roar of the crowd and their collective anxiety missing, Sunday at The Masters lacked its traditional zip. As 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson walked up the 18th hole on Sunday to win his first Masters, you could sense the victory wasn’t the same without the standing ovation by the patrons. 
Fret no more, friends. The patrons have returned. 
While the Masters won’t say just how many fans are on site this week, we do know there will be some in attendance. The energy and atmosphere that spectators provide should be felt immediately. Unlike any other sport, golf is a mental game. It can play with the mind with the snap of a finger. And at Augusta National, the mental strain is even more present. Even with a smaller number of fans than Augusta is accustomed to, the roars will be heard by golfers all around the course. The pressure will build as the roars reach the golfers and they know someone in front of them just made a move up or down the leader board. 
The golf course will also return to normal. With last year’s tournament being played in November, The Masters saw record low scores. Johnson went on to win the tournament with a scoring record at 268. The course was significantly softer due to the time of year the tournament was played. This year, expect a return to firmer greens and a faster course. As always, weather will be a major factor in the course conditions. But if the rain can stay away, don’t expect to see a repeat of last year&#8217;s record setting numbers. 
And while this year&#8217;s Masters won’t be without its fair share of controversy as Georgia’s new election law has taken center stage, the Masters is also a chance for us to take a collective breath.  With all that has happened over the past year, it’s an opportunity to sit down with friends and family and enjoy “A Tradition Unlike Any Other.” It’s a weekend where we can put down our political swords and enjoy our shared love of golf. 
Will Johnson be able to repeat his record breaking performance from just five months ago? Will Justin Thomas finally break through and win his first green jacket? Will anyone be able to replace the energy that Tiger Woods brings to the course as he recovers from his February car accident? 
The college basketball season ended on Monday, the NBA is in its usual slog as they try to finish up the regular season, and Major League Baseball is just getting started. All eyes will be trained on The Masters. Normalcy is back. Enjoy it.

The Return Of The Masters Brings A Sense Of Normalcy

On Friday, Major League Baseball announced they will move the 2021 All-Star Game and 2021 MLB draft out of Atlanta in response to Georgia’s Election Integrity bill.
“Over the last week, we have engaged in thoughtful conversations with the clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players alliance, among others, to listen to their views,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.”
Corporations are now rushing to cave to the woke Left, with Major League Baseball joining the ever-growing list of organizations who decided that folding was easier than making a stand. 
There was a time when sporting events were a wonderful way to get away from it all. It gave us a short reprieve from days filled with doom and gloom headlines and nasty political disagreements with neighbors.
Those days are long gone. Sports, athletes and politics are now tied together at the hip. From athletes kneeling during the national anthem to Black Lives Matter commercials at every turn, political statements during sporting events have become our “new normal.” 
While we may find this kind of messaging annoying, even downright offensive, we can still enjoy the actual events. After all, we are capable of blocking out the social justice messaging on the back of jerseys and watching our favorite teams compete, safe in the feeling that they couldn’t possibly take it any further. But, as always, the Left continues to find new ways to ruin everything it touches. 
Georgia’s election integrity bill has given the Left another opportunity to tighten its long tentacles around the world of sports.
As usual, the Left sees the bill as another opportunity to divide us by focusing entirely on the issue of race. Is the bill intended for a particular group of people? Of course not. It affects every single voter in the state of Georgia regardless of race, class or ideology. But Democrats want you to believe this bill specifically targets the black community. 
President Biden has gone as far as describing the bill as “Jim Crow on steroids.” Stacey Abrams, the self proclaimed Governor of Georgia, and The New Georgia Project (a group Abrams helped found), even filed a lawsuit against state election officials in the U.S. District Court in Atlanta. 
The new law is intended to fix the voting process in a state that was mired in controversy during the 2020 Presidential race. It’s meant to make elections safer and more transparent. The bill requires absentee voters to provide identification when requesting and returning a ballot. According to a new Rasmussen <a href="https://twitter.com/cabot_phillips/status/1376926154632880129?s=20">survey</a>, it’s even a requirement that is supported by just under 70% of black voters. It also makes it illegal for anyone other than poll workers to provide water or food to voters waiting in line. While Democrats have pounced on this specific issue, its inclusion is only to dissuade groups on both sides of the aisle from influencing voters with gifts. 
Democrats vocally condemn this common-sense bill as a form of voter suppression. It’s a term the Left throws around with ease. And what better way to get the message out than through Americans shared love of sports?
Pressuring individual states by threatening to move major sporting events is a tactic the progressive Left has used in the past with great success. For example, in 2017, the NBA moved its All-Star game out of Charlotte after North Carolina passed the “bathroom bill”, which prevented transgender individuals from using the bathroom that matches their gender identity. 
And now, they’re at it again. 
It’s almost as if Major League Baseball hasn’t read the bill. They were told it’s racist, and that’s all they needed to hear. Almost immediately, Major League Baseball decided they would rather bend to the demands of the woke mob than form their own educated opinion. Once again, another major corporation has refused to put up a fight. 
Not surprisingly, MLB’s decision was applauded by Democrats, including former President Barack Obama.

And the Left isn’t done. They have their eyes on the most prestigious golf major, the Masters. The National Black Justice Coalition is calling on the PGA Tour to move the upcoming Masters Tournament from its home in Augusta, GA.
“The PGA Tour and Masters Tournament have both made commitments to help diversify golf and address racial inequities in this country,” NBJC executive director David J. Johns told Golfweek. “And we expect them to not only speak out against Georgia’s new racist voter suppression law, but to also take action”. 
The idea of moving The Masters from the hallowed grounds at Augusta National is absurd. The golf course is arguably the most recognizable sports venue American sports has to offer. The tournament has been played during the first full week of April since 1940. Amen corner, Magnolia Lane and the famed azalea have provided the perfect backdrop for generations of golf fans. The Masters played at a course other than Augusta National? It’s comical. There is no Masters without Augusta, GA.
For now, The Masters will go on as planned. ESPN, a company that never misses an opportunity to pander to the Left, won’t be letting a little thing like “voter suppression” impact their bottom line. 
“The event is happening and we are televising it. If events warrant we will cover them within our sports news coverage,” ESPN spokesperson Andy Hall told Fox News. 
We can ignore the Left’s messaging for a little while to enjoy a few hours of the sports we love. But what happens when the games themselves are taken away because of politics? It’s an issue we never thought we’d have to grapple with. 
But, like everything the Left touches, nothing is sacred. Nothing is left unscathed.

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) has called on the PGA Tour to strip the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia of the annual Masters Tournament over the state&#8217;s new voting law, according to a new report.
David J. Johns, executive director of the NBJC, said the law is intended to restrict voting rights of African Americans in Georgia.
&#8220;Georgia’s new law restricting voting access is designed to turn back the clock on civil rights, and return Black and poor and already disenfranchised voters in Georgia to second class citizens,&#8221; Johns said in a statement <a href="https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2021/03/27/civil-rights-pga-tour-masters-augusta-national-protest-georgia-new-voting-law/">provided</a> to Golfweek. “This is an unacceptable attack on our democracy and companies that operate in Georgia must speak out against this restrictive law.&#8221;
&#8220;The PGA Tour and Masters Tournament have both made commitments to help diversify golf and address racial inequities in this country — and we expect them to not only speak out against Georgia’s new racist voter suppression law — but to also take action.&#8221;
“Professional golf should not reward Georgia’s attacks on democracy and voting rights with the millions of dollars in revenue that the tournament generates and the prestige it brings to the State,” Johns said. “We all must act to protect our democracy and the right to vote.”
The civil rights group also urged professional golfers to boycott the event if it is not moved.
President Joe Biden has blasted voting laws like the one in Georgia as &#8220;un-American&#8221; and “sick,&#8221; and called the new Georgia voting law &#8220;an atrocity.&#8221;
&#8220;You don’t need anything else to know that this is nothing but punitive, designed to keep people from voting,&#8221; Biden said.
Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, however, said the law will make elections in Georgia “secure, accessible and fair.”
It&#8217;s not the first time the club and event have come under fire.
Last year, a sportswriter who had already suggested that the NFL eliminate the playing of the national anthem before each game said that the Masters Tournament change its name because “in the current climate, with all the sweeping changes, it’s only right and just.”
Rob Parker wrote a Deadline piece <a href="https://deadspin.com/we-ve-lived-with-the-masters-name-long-enough-1844121041">headlined</a> “We’ve Lived with ‘The Masters’ Name Long Enough.”
“Augusta National was built on grounds that were once a slave plantation and was the property of a slave owner. And according to a 2019 New Yorker piece about the course, it’s believed that enslaved Blacks were housed on the property,” he wrote.
“Tiger Woods, other big-time golfers and corporate sponsorships should demand it. In the current climate, with all the sweeping changes, it’s only right and just. Best of all, in this case, it’s a simple and smooth fix. The Masters never felt good or even sounded good when you said it,&#8221; Parker wrote. &#8220;When you hear anyone say the Masters, you think of slave masters in the South. There’s nothing else, nothing special. You don’t think of someone mastering the game of golf. When has anyone mastered golf?”
“Augusta National admitted no African American members until 1990 and no women members until 2012” and the “club long required all caddies to be black and banned black golfers from the Masters Tournament until Lee Elder participated in 1975,” Parker wrote. “Even at<a href="http://dictionary.com/" data-ga="[[&quot;Embedded Url&quot;,&quot;External link&quot;,&quot;http://dictionary.com&quot;,{&quot;metric25&quot;:1}]]"> dictionary.com</a>, one of the definitions you get for ‘master’ is ‘owner of a slave.”’

It&#8217;s Masters week. The fact that I&#8217;m writing those words in the second week in November shows just what an unmitigated cluster 2020 has been.
Be that as it may, I&#8217;m not going to let the calendar or the dire national circumstances in which we find ourselves detract from what is possibly my favorite event on the sports calendar.  No other sport treasures its traditions quite like golf does, but The Masters is, as Jim Nantz is quick to remind us, a Tradition Unlike Any Other, warranting a little extra reverence.
I’ve looked back over my decades of Masters-watching and come up with my own top 7 Masters Moments, and given the stakes and the setting, these take their place with the greatest moments in sports history.
7. Norman’s Collapse, 1996
Nick Faldo was a great player, and a big part of Sir Nick&#8217;s greatness was the fact that he was always around, ready to capitalize on a collapse. Collapses don&#8217;t come any more epic than the one that Greg Norman endured at the 1996 Masters. Norman held a six-shot lead over Faldo entering the final round but shot a Sunday 78 to Faldo’s 67 and lost by five in what amounted to a day-long, slow-motion car crash.
6. Couples Defies Gravity, 1992
Nursing a slim lead on Sunday, Fred Couples arrived at the benign-looking but diabolical par-3 12th and narrowly avoided disaster when his mis-clubbed tee shot somehow clung to the bank above Rae&#8217;s Creek instead of trickling down into the water. Couples saved par, then played 1-under golf the rest of the way to win by two shots.
5. Larry Mize, 1987
Many of Greg Norman&#8217;s heartbreaking losses were self-inflicted; this one was more like an explosion taking out an innocent bystander. Playing a few miles from his home, Mize holed a seemingly impossible 140-foot pitch shot on the second playoff hole, the brutal par-4 11th, to deny Norman a green jacket.
4. The Ultimate Nike Ad, 2005
The Nike marketing office couldn&#8217;t have drawn it up any better. Tiger Woods&#8217; chip shot on 16 on Masters Sunday, the ball hanging tantalizingly on the edge of the cup, the Swoosh momentarily freeze-framed on our television screens before the ball tumbled into the hole, unleashing an awkward golfer high-five moment between Tiger Woods and caddie Steve Williams. Woods went on to win his fourth Green Jacket in a playoff with Chris DiMarco.
3. Lefty’s Leap into History, 2004
Sporting a bemused grin, as though he was actually enjoying the pressure, Phil Mickelson got the major monkey off his back, following up an opening-round 72 with three straight 69s to hold off a charging Ernie Els. Mickelson’s clinching putt on 18 and subsequent &#8220;leap&#8221; for joy provided one of golf’s most cathartic moments.
2. Tiger&#8217;s Arrival, 1997
In the spring of &#8217;97, I had the good fortune to attend a practice round at Augusta on the Tuesday of Masters week. As we stepped onto the meticulously manicured grounds, our first stop was the impossibly picturesque par-5 13th, scene of so much glory and heartbreak. On the tee in the distance was the threesome of Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Olazabal and a young phenom named Tiger Woods. Five short days later, Tiger had changed the sport forever. The 1997 Masters lacked any of the event&#8217;s typical drama; instead, it was a four-day coronation, as Tiger dismantled the storied course en route to an 18-under finish and 12-shot victory — despite going out in 40 on his opening 9.
1. Jack’s Back, 1986
At 46, Jack Nicklaus seemed to be little more than a footnote as Masters week dawned. An Atlanta newspaper article went so far as to call him “done, washed up, through.&#8221; That article found its way onto the refrigerator at Jack&#8217;s rental house, and suitably motivated, the Bear emerged from hibernation. Four shots back heading into the final round, Jack birdied 9, 10 and 11 to creep up the leaderboard. He bogeyed 12 when his par putt brushed a spike mark, but he got it back with a two-putt birdie at 13. Then, an eagle putt at 15, a near-hole-in-one at 16 and a birdie at 17 unleashed roars that rattled the pines, along with his competitors. Nicklaus’s 65 put him at 9-under, a score that no other contender could match. Jack needed only 33 strokes to complete the final ten holes of the greatest Masters of them all.
