Anti-woke voices share a social media saying when sanity returns to the culture, be it acknowledging that sex sells in ads or proof that Cancel Culture is on the run.
Nature is healing.
That rings true regarding the saga of Gina Carano. The MMA standout-turned-action heroine had it all – a burgeoning career, the adoration of fans and a plum gig on Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”
Then Disney fired her for “problematic” social media posts.
Carano just settled her lawsuit against the Mouse House with the suggestion that the two sides might work together on future projects. She didn’t land a knockout legal blow but staring down arguably the biggest company in Hollywood proved a victory all the same.
You might call it a healing moment.
She wasn’t destined for movie stardom, at least not during her MMA days. As fate would have it, Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh saw something in Carano while watching her on TV. He eventually crafted an action thriller around her beauty and brawn via 2011’s “<a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1506999/">Haywire</a>.”

The film <a href="https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt1506999/?ref_=bo_se_r_1">wasn’t a smash</a>, but it proved she could act alongside established stars like Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, and Michael Fassbender. The Hollywood door creaked open.
She kept working on screen, landing notable roles in “Deadpool,” “Fast &amp; Furious 6” and “Extraction.”
And then came “The Mandalorian.” Disney finally got the “Star Wars” magic right with the TV series starring Pedro Pascal as the title character. She joined the cast as Cara Dune, a loner seeking vengeance against the Empire for terminating her home planet of Alderaan. She quickly became a fan favorite, and buzz began to build that Disney+ would spin off her character into her own show.
Carano says “Mandalorian” director Jon Favreau of “Iron Man” fame told her, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/gina-carano-interview-madalorian-firing-elon-musk-disney-1235851597/">“your life is about to change.”</a>

She was this close to stardom, the kind young actors can only dream about. Except Carano didn’t follow Hollywood’s progressive playbook. She wasn’t openly conservative, but she began questioning COVID-19 protocols on social media, echoing the thoughts of many Americans but not the Legacy Media or the Left.
She pushed for election reform, noting how fellow Americans lacked trust in the current system. Once again, a fairly mainstream view was suddenly deemed out of bounds following President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory over Donald Trump.
She considered putting up a black square following the death of George Floyd, but she didn’t want to follow the crowd with empty posturing.
Worst of all to the woke Left, she refused to put her pronouns in her social media bio, instead using a trio of silly words – Beep/Bop/Boop.
The Left went into a frenzy over that stunt, while she defended her actions as a stand against <a href="https://x.com/ginacarano/status/1305301756792860674">social media bullying</a>.

Carano later revealed that Team Disney stepped in, asking her to stop sharing her thoughts online. She added the company put her through media training and even wanted to set up a Zoom meeting between the starlet and <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/gina-carano-interview-madalorian-firing-elon-musk-disney-1235851597/">45 LGBTQ+ Disney employees</a>, all angry at her refusal to share her pronouns.
Carano declined the offer, instead suggesting she have dinner with a much smaller group to reach across the cultural aisle. They refused, she contends.
Disney seemingly craved an excuse to cut ties with Carano. The company got it when she shared a plea for tolerance that evoked Nazi Germany.
<blockquote>Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children … Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. Disney used the post as a pretext for termination. Disney&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-lucasfilm-which-fired-her-pushing-her-for-an-emmy">explanation for her dismissal</a> angered many fans.
<blockquote>Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.</blockquote>
One problem? The post did no such thing. Another problem? Fellow Disney stars said far worse on social media sans punishment. 
Many called out Pascal for a post comparing <a href="https://ewerickson.substack.com/p/meet-the-double-standard-in-cancel">Trump voters to Nazis.</a>
Left unsaid? Disney worked with Bette Midler on “Hocus Pocus 2” following Carano’s dismissal, but Midler’s social media posts can be <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/disney-cancel-bette-midler-hocus-pocus-2/">cruel and dehumanizing</a>.
Disney opted not to punish either star or put them through media training.
Carano stopped working in traditional Hollywood. She next starred in The Daily Wire’s original western “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie?row=0&amp;elementPosition=28&amp;rowType=Square+Show+Carousel">Terror on the Prairie</a>” – a deal signed days after Disney’s dismissal. She also landed a small part in “My Son Hunter,” a Breitbart original film about Hunter Biden directed by Robert Davi.

Her career appeared to be over, at least within official Hollywood corridors. Then Elon Musk caught wind of her story and offered to pay for Carano to sue Disney for wrongful termination.
That powerful backing made all the difference. <a href="https://people.com/gina-carano-settles-lawsuit-disney-mandalorian-firing-thanks-elon-musk-11787322">Disney’s official statement</a> following the settlement suggests she might return to the “Star Wars” galaxy at some point. A “Mandalorian” feature film is tentatively slated for a May 2026 release.
<blockquote>Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect… With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.</blockquote>
It’s unclear if Hollywood, still a relentlessly liberal enclave that discriminates against some conservatives, will hire Carano for new projects.
By standing firm and defending her right to speak freely, however, she can hold her head high no matter the direction her acting career takes from here.

Almost no one in the country has a clearer or higher-profile claim to Elon Musk’s offer than the actress who became a breakout star on Disney’s hit Star Wars series, “The Mandalorian.”
In 2020, when Carano began sharing political opinions criticizing COVID mask mandates and poking good-natured fun at online bullies who demand others state their preferred pronouns, the studio forced her to undergo <a href="https://fandomwire.com/i-feel-like-thats-extremely-abusive-gina-carano-claims-lucasfilm-ordered-her-to-watch-trans-documentaries-attend-zoom-call-with-45-lgbtq-members/">reeducation training</a>. But when she suggested that Holocaust-era hatred might provide a cautionary tale for America’s increasing atmosphere of intolerance and division, the company fired her.

“They just dehumanized me,” said Carano.
In our interview for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/podcasts/morning-wire/border-bill-fails-nevada-primary-result-afternoon-update-2-7-24" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Morning Wire</a>, Carano speaks in soft tones that belie the tough fights — both <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lc9eWglEI8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">literal</a> and <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/actress-gina-carano-defies-hollywood-vaccine-mandate-non-union-project-1639076" target="_blank" rel="noopener">figurative</a> — she’s been willing to take on over the course of her career.
“Basically, what Disney and Lucasfilm said to the rest of [the industry], is, ‘Hey, don&#8217;t work with this person.’ And, you know, who&#8217;s not gonna listen to Disney, the most powerful entertainment company in the world?”
Ironically, <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/02/11/see-gina-caranos-tweets-and-posts-that-got-her-fired/">the 2021 post</a> that proved to be Carano’s undoing was a screenshot of a meme meant to encourage acceptance of one another’s differences. Below an historical image of a gang of Nazi youngsters attacking a bloodied and fleeing Jewish woman, the caption read:

Disney wildly mischaracterized the post, calling it “abhorrent and unacceptable,” claiming Carano had “denigrat[ed] people based on their cultural and religious identities.” But worse, Carano says news outlets like <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/11/arts/television/gina-carano-lucasfilm.html?smtyp=cur&amp;smid=tw-nytimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a> dutifully spread the company’s false narrative. 
“When I was going through it, I was like, ‘These people are telling such lies. How are they getting away with this?’” the former MMA fighter wondered. “The media was sick at that time. They would just try to twist everything that I posted into something racist. And it&#8217;s really been kind of humorous now, because people are waking up, and they&#8217;re like, ‘wait a second, what did she say?’”

Yet, for three years, Carano, who starred in the Daily Wire’s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/terror-on-the-prairie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Terror On The Prairie</a>,” lacked the resources to counter the destructive message Disney had peddled about her, making it next to impossible for her to find work in mainstream Hollywood.
“I had to, you know, completely move my life out of California and [the question] was, where am I going to put my funds? In trying to battle Disney for years and years? Or am I going to just try to restart my life? I had spoken to some lawyers, and they said how expensive it was going to be. And I was like, oh my gosh, well, I need to get stable and in a safe place first.”

Musk’s willingness to foot the legal bill for anyone who had a legitimate discrimination claim changed her timeline. 
As soon as she saw it, she reached out to X executives and almost immediately heard back from lawyers asking for more information. Carano sent over her story, including a detailed timeline, email records, and text communications she’d kept from her time working on &#8220;The Mandalorian.&#8221; Then she held her breath for the short time it took them to reply back, “Yes, we want to take this on.”
If successful, Carano’s suit, filed February 6 in a California federal court, will force Lucasfilm to recast her and compensate her for lost wages. And she doesn’t believe she’ll be the last wrongful termination complainant Disney will face, especially given that Musk put out a <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1755007753289134162?s=46&amp;t=mc2vHozZJYYzru9DdSGqTQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">second call</a> urging other current and former Mouse House employees to come forward if they believe the company has discriminated against them.
“I think [the lawyers X has provided to pursue cases against Disney] are probably getting flooded,” Carano says. “There’s needed to be a reckoning in that company, I believe, for a long time. Because for a long time, it&#8217;s been like, ‘Well, we&#8217;re Disney. We&#8217;re Lucasfilm. You should just be honored to be here. And that kind of mentality really led to disrespect of people from every single department, not just actors … And everybody who&#8217;s worked in that company knows that there&#8217;s a problem, and it needs to be fixed.”
So far, Disney executives are staying as quiet as mice about Carano’s allegations, with CEO Bob Iger saying he has <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/bob-iger-gina-carano-mandalorian-lawsuit-1235818809/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no comment</a>.
But X is making it clear it’s in the actress’ corner for the long haul. The same day Carano filed her suit, Joe Benarroch, the platform’s head of business operations, made this statement to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/gina-carano-sues-disney-mandalorian-firing-lawsuit-elon-musk-1235817466/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>: “As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.”
One thing is certain: If Musk and Carano are successful, it could have huge implications for the entertainment industry. And for the First Amendment rights of all American workers.

Our friend Gina Carano, whom The Daily Wire hired after Disney fired her from “The Mandalorian” for the great sin of saying that people should not dehumanize one another, is suing The Walt Disney Company.
Gina was fired from “The Mandalorian” after she posted a meme saying, essentially, that othering can end with murder. I thought that was a mainstream point of view, but Disney fired her. So, we hired her and she was in “Terror on the Prairie,” a big win for all involved.
According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/02/gina-carano-sues-disney-mandalorian-1235816821/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline Hollywood</a>:
<blockquote>Three years after ex-MMA fighter <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/02/mandalorian-gina-carano-lucas-film-responds-to-controversial-statement-1234691898/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carano was axed by the then Bob Chapek-run Disney</a> for comparing the political climate in America to Nazi Germany, Carano on Tuesday sued Disney and Star Wars shingle <a href="https://deadline.com/tag/lucasfilm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lucasfilm</a> for dropping her from the bounty-hunter series – and the X/Tesla owner is paying for her lawyers.</blockquote>
Elon is paying for her lawyers.
I love it.
According to <a href="https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/GinaCarano-v-Disney.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the complaint</a> filed in federal court:
<blockquote>A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated. And so it was with Carano. &#8230; The rule of law still reigns over the Defendants’ empire … and Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions — actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income.</blockquote>
You&#8217;ll recall that it was in February 2021, not long after she had been in “The Mandalorian,” that Lucasfilm put out a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/mandalorian-star-gina-carano-out-lucasfilms-after-abhorrent-social-media-n1257429" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scathing statement</a> on their business with her: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
By the way, there was no social media post denigrating anyone based on cultural or religious identity at all.

“Defendants also discriminated against Carano by treating her differently from her male co-stars who also made public, political statements on social media,” the lawsuit states.
That is absolutely true. Pedro Pascal, who is the star of “The Mandalorian,” put out a meme basically about how illegal immigrants were being held in detention facilities like concentration camps.
He put out that tweet — nothing.
“Her male co-stars were not disciplined, let alone terminated in a way to destroy their careers even though some would find their statements ‘abhorrent,’” the lawsuit states. The lawsuit notes Pascal’s statements as well as guest star Mark Hamill comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
So Carano is amplifying all that. And then Elon Musk <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1754956541252263941" target="_blank" rel="noopener">put out</a> a statement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-offers-more-legal-support-for-anyone-discriminated-against-by-disney-as-gina-carano-is-cheered-for-her-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “Please let us know if you would like to join the lawsuit against Disney.”
Revenge is best served cold.
Elon tweeted, <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1755007753289134162" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “If you were discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries (ABC, ESPN, Marvel, etc), just reply to this post to receive legal support,” because he received from an anonymous source evidence that showed Disney general entertainment content and inclusion standards that looked like they violated basic civil rights law and seemed to create all sorts of racist hiring practices.
People are going to take him up on that. I would not be surprised to see Disney sued from a thousand different directions over that because DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) must, in fact, die.

“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/the-mandalorian">The Mandalorian</a>” recently surprised fans with two cameo guest star appearances: <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lizzo">Lizzo</a> and Jack Black.
The two actors were featured in Wednesday’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">episode</a>, &#8220;Chapter 22: Guns for Hire.&#8221; The popular “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/star-wars">Star Wars</a>” spinoff stars Pedro Pascal as the titular character in the Disney+ series. 
Lizzo and Black played the Duchess and Captain Bombardier, a married couple ruling a planet named Plazir-15, which is being terrorized by its droids. Din Djarin (Pascal), Grogu, and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) meet the duo on their travels.
The episode also featured “Back to the Future” star Christopher Lloyd playing Commissioner Helgait.
Social media users shared their reactions upon seeing the “School of Rock” star and “Truth Hurts” singer appearing on the show.

Lizzo, who has dressed as “Star Wars” characters before for Halloween, posted on Twitter about the cameo. 
“As a kid my dad showed me Star Wars like a rite of passage. When I got the role of The Dutchess [sic] I cried all day. Dad I wish u were here to see this! Thanks to everyone in the Galaxy I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars,” she <a href="https://twitter.com/lizzo/status/1643995599216451585">wrote</a>. “This is The Way… May the Force be with U.”
Black also commemorated his cameo by sharing a post of himself and Lizzo in full makeup and costumes to his Instagram. He wrote in the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqp_pLruyap/">caption</a>, “So fun working. with @lizzobeeating on @themandalorian as the king and queen of Plazir-15!!!”
While some viewers admitted that Black and Lizzo weren’t horrible in the episode, their cameos still confused fans.

Baby Yoda and Gizmo from “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Gremlins</a>” are the same in that they’re both fan-favorite characters with big eyes and even bigger powers, but Gizmo’s creator is convinced that his idea was ripped off.
“I think the longevity of [the films] is really key to this one character [Gizmo], who is essentially like a baby,” director Joe Dante told the <a href="https://datebook.sfchronicle.com/movies-tv/gremlins-director-says-baby-yoda-is-completely-stolen-from-classic-film/amp">San Francisco Chronicle</a>. “Which brings me, of course, to the subject of Baby Yoda, who is completely stolen and is just out-and-out copied. Shamelessly, I would think.”
Baby Yoda’s real name is Grogu (he’s also called “The Child”) on the smash hit <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/disney">Disney</a> series “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/the-mandalorian">The Mandalorian</a>.” Meanwhile, Gizmo is featured in the “Gremlins” franchise, which premiered in 1984. Fans of the movie will recall how Gizmo is a mogwai, which spawn when coming in contact with water or if they are fed after midnight.
&#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; show-runner Jon Favreau told <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/08/the-mandalorian-jon-favreau-dave-filoni-baby-yoda-interview-ludwig-goransson-contenders-tv-watch-1203012666/">Deadline</a> in 2021 that he used another iconic 80s character as inspiration for the cute and cuddly character everyone fell in love with, the publication reported.
“Dave [Filoni] had done a sketch of kind of a Michelangelo/E.T. moment, and that was a source of inspiration,” Favreau said of Grogu’s first appearance. That image depicted The Child’s cradle floating along with his hand reaching up to touch fingers with Mando. The sketch combines Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” along with the famous scene from Steven Spielberg’s classic sci-fi film.
&#8220;Then Doug Chiang and the whole art department started generating drawings of it, and the Legacy [Effects] people built it,” Favreau continued. “We got lots and lots of drawings. Some of them were too cute, some of them were too ugly, some of them were the wrong proportions.”
“Finally there was one image that Chris Alzmann did that had him wrapped up in what looked like a piece of a flight jacket,” the “Mandalorian” director continued. “His eyes were a little weird, and he looked a little out of it, there was something a little off with it. But we found it charming, and that became the rallying image that we said, ‘This is good.’ And it developed from there.”
The perceived ripoff came up in conversation as HBO Max gets ready to debut an animated series this fall called “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.” Dante is a consultant on the series. He’s also looking forward to screening the original films this weekend in San Francisco at the Castro Theatre.

&#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; actress and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Sasha Banks is taking heat for allegedly &#8220;liking&#8221; an Instagram post that questions the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The screen-capped posts that made Banks <a href="https://shinemycrown.com/wwe-star-sasha-banks-accused-of-being-an-anti-vaxxer/">trend</a> online and sparked criticism of the actress being a so-called &#8220;anti-vaxxer&#8221; are not entirely clear.
Twitter user @tayredacted <a href="https://shinemycrown.com/wwe-star-sasha-banks-accused-of-being-an-anti-vaxxer/">posted</a> two photos of images Banks supposedly &#8220;liked&#8221; from Instagram that were posted in May. One image suggests the COVID-19 vaccine is meant to sterilize the masses, and the other reads, &#8220;COVID Jab: They skipped all animal trails because all animals were dying &amp; went directly to people.&#8221;

The images come from the same post, however, and they come after you scroll past numerous other photos in the post. In other words, Banks could have &#8220;liked&#8221; the first photo, which is a mild meme mocking lockdown measures, and not even seen the other posts about the vaccine. See the front image, below:

YouTubers online racking up hundreds of thousands of views and media blogs have highlighted an apparent campaign against actress Rosario Dawson to be next on the &#8220;Cancel Culture&#8221; chopping block, resurfacing accusations of &#8220;transphobia&#8221; tied to Dawson, who has consistently denied the allegations.
Dawson appeared on Disney+&#8217;s &#8220;The Mandalorian&#8221; in the second season and is set to be featured in a Disney+ spinoff for the Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano. The show&#8217;s release date remains unknown, though it has recently generated headlines over the <a href="https://www.cinemablend.com/television/2563216/the-mandalorians-ahsoka-tano-spinoff-is-rumored-to-be-eyeing-a-live-action-ezra-bridger-actor">rumored</a> live-action casting of &#8220;Aladdin&#8221; star Mena Massoud.
In October 2019, a transgender man claimed in lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court that Dawson and her family &#8220;subjected him to transphobic harassment and violent abuse,&#8221; NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/rosario-dawson-her-family-sued-over-alleged-transphobic-assault-n1069756">reported</a>.
About a year later, Dawson <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2020/11/rosario-dawson-dave-filoni-mandalorian-ahsoka-tano-grogu">spoke</a> to Vanity Fair about the &#8220;backlash&#8221; she&#8217;s faced concerning the suit of the alleged &#8220;transphobic assault.&#8221;
“Well, firstly, I just want to say I understand…why people were concerned, and are concerned. I would be, too, if I heard some of those claims,” Dawson told the magazine in an interview published in November 2020. “But I mean, as we’re seeing right now in these past months, and just recently actually, the truth is coming out. Every single claim of discrimination has been dismissed by the person who made them, and as you’ve said, the fact that this is coming from someone I’ve known since I was a teenager, the better part of my life, and who my family was trying to help as we have many times in the past, it really just makes me sad. But I still have a great empathy for him.”
“The reason that all of the discrimination claims were dropped is because they didn’t happen,” the &#8220;Rent&#8221; actress said, noting that some <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2020/11/gina-carano-fan-backlash-transgender-parler-cara-dune-mandalorian-rosario-dawson">18 of the 20 charges</a> had already been voluntarily withdrawn. “I was raised in a very inclusive and loving way, and that’s how I’ve lived my entire life. I’ve always used my voice to fight for, lift up and empower the LGBTQA community, and use my platform to channel trans voices, in fiction and nonfiction work that I’ve produced and directed. Dawson is a left-wing activist who is publicly dating Democratic Sen. Corey Booker (NJ). She&#8217;s an advocate for abortion giant Planned Parenthood and the <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/10/17/voto-latino-interview-2020-election-429857">cofounder</a> of the activist group Vote Latino.
Disney+ and Lucas films thus far have stood by Dawson during the backlash, including withstanding a <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23FireRosarioDawson&amp;lang=en">#FireRosarioDawson</a> Twitter hashtag. Some users of the hashtag claim the actress is transphobic, citing the lawsuit; others slammed both Dawson and now-fired &#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; actress Gina Carano with the tag.
Carano was notably fired earlier this month from the show over conservative social media posts. Reports indicate Carano was first targeted for firing after she posted &#8220;beep bop boop&#8221; in lieu of gender pronouns in her Twitter bio. The actress emphasized online that she wasn&#8217;t targeting transgender people, but rather the bullies who force others to adhere to their ideology, especially those pressing Carano to add her pronouns to her bio.
The Geeks + Gamers YouTube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_5VPFP5Q80">account</a>, which has hundreds of thousands of subscribers, argued this week that Dawson could be the next target of &#8220;Cancel Culture&#8221; now that Social Justice Warriors had successfully launched a campaign for firing Carano.
The account highlighted a Monday post from media outlet Inverse discussing the &#8220;Ahsoka Problem,&#8221; detailing Dawson&#8217;s potential &#8220;transphobia.&#8221; Inverse spoke to Star Wars &#8220;Stans&#8221; (diehard fans of the franchise) about the issue. The Mix <a href="https://www.themix.net/2021/02/star-wars-stans-set-sights-on-rosario-dawson-as-next-potential-target-of-cancel-culture/">reported</a>:
<blockquote>While the bulk of the Inverse article focuses on the events of this past winter that resulted in #FireGinaCarano trending on Twitter, when they finally do get around to talking about Rosario, they point to only a single event as reason behind the calls for her cancellation.
Three years ago, a member of the trans community lobbed some hefty allegations against Dawson and her family. The accuser, a trans male, filed a lawsuit Dawson’s family and claimed that they had both assaulted and purposefully misgendered him.
&#8220;It bugs me and several other people and I think that it would be good if they at least recast the actress because she already makes so many people uncomfortable,” said V, an anonymous stan interviewed by Johnston.
Another stan, Kennedy, noted that the aforementioned court case was a stain upon Dawson’s name among stans, telling Jonston, “I think that the majority of stan Twitter, myself included, are skeptical of her because we don’t know if the charges on her are true or not.”
Stan twitter’s arguement against Dawson’s was best summed up by @ladywillowgrey, who declared that “Ahsoka Tano doesn’t deserve to be played by a transphobic, she deserves better”, before demanding that Disney “Fire Rosario Dawson like you did Gina Carano” .</blockquote>
Disney+ <a href="https://tvline.com/2020/12/10/the-mandalorian-ahsoka-tano-spinoff-rosario-dawson/">announced</a> in December, a month after Dawson addressed the backlash, that the actress would star as Ahsoka Tano in her own spinoff.

Online sellers are looking to cash in on Cara Dune, The Hill reports Thursday, after actress Gina Carano was fired from the wildly popular Star Wars show, &#8220;The Mandalorian,&#8221; over comments she made on Twitter.
&#8220;The former Disney star was cut from her role on &#8216;The Mandalorian&#8217; earlier [in February] in a move that the mass media company had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/final-straw-hollywood-reporter-sources-say-disney-wanted-to-fire-carano-in-november">reportedly</a> been planning for months over right-wing views Carano has expressed over social media,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-to-produce-and-star-in-upcoming-film-for-the-daily-wire">The Daily Wire reported</a>. &#8220;Disney officially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-fires-actress-gina-carano-after-post-comparing-hating-someone-over-politics-to-nazi-germany">cut ties</a> with Carano over an image the actress posted to her Instagram depicting a Jewish woman running from Nazi guards.&#8221;
Carano has since announced that she is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gina-carano-to-produce-and-star-in-upcoming-film-for-the-daily-wire">partnering with The Daily Wire</a> on an upcoming film project.
Earlier this week, toy company Hasbro announced that it would be ending a production run of figures for Carano&#8217;s &#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; character, Cara Dune &#8212; a production run they announced shortly following the series&#8217; season two conclusion. A retailer told The Hollywood Reporter that the decision was made in light of Carano&#8217;s recent social media activity.
“The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received,” the retailer said in an email to the outlet. “Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting preorders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.”
The decision &#8212; and, it seems, Carano&#8217;s popularity with the &#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; audience &#8212; has sent prices for Cara Dune figures skyrocketing on secondary retail sites like eBay, with some sellers listing limited edition Cara Dune toys at up to ten times their suggested retail price.
&#8220;Action figures for Gina Carano&#8217;s &#8216;Mandalorian&#8217; character are being hawked for big bucks online after a top toymaker reportedly said it would no longer produce the items following the actress&#8217;s firing from Disney for controversial social media posts,&#8221; the Hill noted. &#8220;Some sellers on eBay were listing their six-inch Cara Dune figurines for nearly $500, while others were being sold for $250 a piece on Tuesday.&#8221;
&#8220;One eBay listing is offering an action figure of Carano&#8217;s character for $495. A product that appears identical to the one on eBay is sold out on Target&#8217;s website but normally goes for $25,&#8221; the outlet continued. &#8220;Another seller peddling a &#8216;mint condition&#8217; Dune figure for $91 says in a listing for the item, &#8216;Try to get it now for low before the price skyrockets even more.'&#8221;
&#8220;This figure will be discontinued due to the actress who plays her being fired and this figure will become very rare. Competitors are listing for 3x the price,&#8221; the seller said.
It does appear that some secondary retailers are able to sell the figures for that price, and the seller identified by The Hill seems to have been proven correct. The lowest price for a traditional, 3.5-inch Hasbro Cara Dune &#8220;Mandalorian&#8221; action figure is around $85. Figures from other toy companies, like Funko and LEGO, are still going for retail price.

Gina Carano could have kept on punching.
The MMA stand out last fought in 2009 when she was still in her late 20s. She had something else in mind for her career — using her skills on the big screen. Carano had already appeared in the first sanctioned female fight in Las Vegas, among career milestones, but she had a hunch Hollywood could use a performer like her.
She was right.
She successfully pivoted from the Octagon to movies and TV work, ending up on streaming TV’s biggest showcase, Disney’s “The Mandalorian.”
Let’s look back at the steps she took along the way.
“Blood and Bone” (2009)
This direct-to-video MMA saga gave Carano her feature film debut. She was far from the star, though. She played Vendetta, an MMF fighter, but one whose part is so small the expansive Wikipedia plot description fails to name check her role.
The star here is Michael Jai White, cast as an ex-con who transforms into an MMA warrior at the behest of an old friend.
“Haywire” (2011)
Imagine dreaming of a film career and fielding a call from director Steven Soderbergh of “Traffic” and “Oceans Eleven” fame. Carano’s next big screen movie made that scenario a reality. She’s front and center as Mallory Kane, a former Marine on the run after a government agency betrayed her.
Soderbergh saw Carano during one of her matches, a rare loss, and envisioned her anchoring a major action movie. She did just that, sharing the screen with heavy hitters like Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum and Ewan McGregor.
The film earned a robust 80 percent “fresh” rating at RottenTomatoes.com, and she nabbed a nomination for Best Actress in an Action Film from the <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1506999/awards">Critics Choice Association.</a>

“Fast and Furious 6”
Carano seemed a natural for this adrenaline-fueled franchise. Indeed, she fit right in as Dwayne Johnson’s on-screen partner, Riley Hicks. The role wasn’t carried over to subsequent “Furious” films, but the experience solidified her action movie chops.
She had two fight scenes with franchise mainstay Michelle Rodriguez, including one conducted in a subway tunnel.
The scenes required extensive rehearsals, but Carano praised both Rodriquez’s energy and how both emerged from the scenes <a href="https://collider.com/gina-carano-fast-and-furious-6-interview/">without a sizable scratch</a>.
“Nobody was hurt; I really pride myself on that. I don’t think I’ve ever hurt anybody unless I intended to,” she cracked.

Robert De Niro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kate Bosworth star in a tale of a casino employee who risks everything to pay for his sick daughter’s operation. Carano co-stars as a cop chasing the film’s robbers, eventually realizing they aren’t as one-dimensionally crooked as expected.

“Extraction” (2015)
Carano plays a CIA agent who once dated Bruce Willis’ character, giving the actress a chance to share the screen with the iconic actor. The latter’s on-screen son (Kellan Lutz) also joined the family business and must rescue his daddy after he’s kidnapped during an operation.
Carano shared how she <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/stories/ufc/exclusive-gina-carano-talks-extraction-deadpool-and-her-inspiration-for-future">approached her action sequences</a> during the promotional push for the film.
“I think the trick in coming into these action movies is respecting the craft that a stunt director has worked their entire life on. Sometimes on smaller films you don’t get a decent amount of prep, sometimes not any, you show up and there is a surprise fight scene one night and you just kind of roll with it. Not ideal but it helps to be athletic on most jobs I&#8217;ve had.”

“Deadpool” (2016)
No, Carano didn’t fight the bad guys alongside Ryan Reynolds’ wisecracking anti-hero. She’s part of the villainous team Deadpool must vanquish between R-rated quips and sexual slapstick. 
She played Angel Dust, a villain who squared off against the steely Colossus character, one of several X-heroes featured in the film. Her character is based on one created by Geoff Johns and Shawn Martinbrough for 2002’s Morlocks limited series.
The film version is <a href="https://www.cbr.com/deadpool-who-is-gina-carano-marvel-villain/">radically different</a>, though, with Angel Dust’s powers stemming from an experiment, rather than mutant heritage.
Once again, Carano’s fighting background served her well in this superhero smash.

“Kickboxer: Vengeance” (2016)
Carano joins a long-running franchise which dates back to the ‘80s. This time, series star Jean-Claude Van Damme is the mentor to a new fighter seeking to avenge his brothers’ death at the hands of a brutal Muay Thai champ, played by “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista. 
This time, Carano isn’t playing a cop, federal agent or law enforcement type. She’s a sketchy fight promoter caught up in the story’s mayhem. In real life, Carano studied Muay Thai fighting as part of her athletic training, <a href="https://www.womeninstunts.com/gina-carano/">racking up a 12-1-1 record in the combat sport.</a>

“Scorched Earth” (2018)
It was only a matter of time before the actress got a post-apocalyptic story to call her own. Here, she’s leaning into Hollywood’s progressive messaging while hitting her action movie beats.
Carano plays a bounty hunter named Attica Gage who tracks down “eco-criminals” after global warming turned the globe into a wasteland. Drive a gas guzzler and face Attica’s wrath.
The character was written for a male actor, but Carano convinced the producers to change their mind.

“Daughter of the Wolf” (2019)
The MMA alum gets another star vehicle as Clair, a former military specialist trying to reconnect with her estranged son. Just when the two make some emotional headway, he’s kidnapped by a scenery-snacking Richard Dreyfuss.
Now, Momma Bear Clair must come to the rescue, making an unlikely ally along the way.

The Complete Guide to Gina Carano’s Post-MMA Career

Disney reportedly cut ties this week with conservative actress Gina Carano, one of the stars of Lucasfilm’s hit TV series “The Mandalorian,” on Wednesday. The alleged cause of the firing was a series of posts Carano made on social media that critics claimed were offensive.
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disney-fires-actress-gina-carano-after-post-comparing-hating-someone-over-politics-to-nazi-germany">reported</a>, “The post that generated the most controversy was a screenshot of another person’s post that she then posted onto her own Instagram account. The post compared the current politically divisive culture in the U.S. to Nazi Germany.” The screenshot stated:
<blockquote>Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?</blockquote>
Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, announced in a statement, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Social media noted that another actor starring in “The Mandalorian,” Pedro Pascal, had also <a href="https://twitter.com/pedropascal1/status/1009572721548595201?lang=en">made a reference</a> to the Holocaust, but no action had been taken by Disney. On June 20, 2018, Pascal posted two images, one of a concentration camp in Germany in 1944 and another of immigrant children &#8220;in cages&#8221; that he suggested was taken in 2018, hashtagged &#8220;#ThisIsAmerica.&#8221; Tweet below followed by screenshot:
