Some Taylor Swift fans have theories about why she didn&#8217;t attend the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday despite being nominated for six awards.
One anonymous <a href="https://x.com/repgirlypop/status/1927194423063884012?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1927194423063884012%7Ctwgr%5E07e6f1f2ea34d03e62a6bfb9bc43b867e301bf77%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.dailywire.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D926219action%3Dedit">X post speculated</a> that the pop star might have skipped due to politics, suggesting that it could be because Billboard Magazine, which is affiliated with the award show, was owned by conservatives. But the post, which has amassed hundreds of thousands of views on X, appears to confuse Jay Penske and his Penske Media Corp with Penske Corp, a company owned by his father, the billionaire former race car driver Roger Penske. 
The younger Penske does not appear to have made any donations to Trump, or any affiliated political groups. His media group, Penske Media Corp, owns several prominent entertainment news outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone.
Jay Penske maintains a politically neutral public persona. His father, Roger Penske, formally endorsed President Trump in 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019 . Penske Corp, according to a review of <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/penske-corp/summary?id=D000036594">campaign finance records</a>, has made several donations to Trump and other Republicans. 
Trump is on the mind of Swift&#8217;s fans due to his recent barb, in which he renewed criticism of the singer he once said he hates.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” the president shared with his followers on May 16.

While some fans believe Swift skipped the ceremony due to Trump drama, another theory says the singer did not attend because of the ongoing legal drama between her friend, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni.
Swift was subpoenaed in one of the lawsuits, but the court order was later withdrawn. An unnamed source told <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14754785/Taylor-Swift-AVOIDED-AMAs-keeps-low-profile-boyfriend-Travis-Kelce.html">The Daily Mail</a> that the legal issues were the real reason Swift skipped the AMAs.
&#8220;She avoided the AMAs because she didn&#8217;t want to deal with 1000s of questions about the Blake Lively saga,&#8221; a source told the outlet.
&#8220;It is all anyone wants to talk about, and Taylor is really tired of it,&#8221; the source added.
Other <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/articles/real-reason-taylor-swift-skipped-143737766.html">fans have speculated</a> that Swift&#8217;s absence had to do with rumors that an engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce is on the horizon.
Swift currently holds the record for most AMA wins in history with 40. Winners of the AMAs are determined by fans voting on social media and through an online platform.
With Swift&#8217;s absence, performers at the AMAs included Benson Boone, Gloria Estefan, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Reneé Rapp, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Rod Stewart, Alex Warren, and Lainey Wilson. The feud between President Donald Trump and pop star Taylor Swift has reignited, with Trump declaring himself the victor in a Truth Social post.
&#8220;Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she&#8217;s no longer ‘HOT?’&#8221; the president <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114517718765768352">shared</a> with his followers on Friday morning.
The animosity between Swift and Trump is not new. In September 2024, Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” days after the singer revealed on Instagram that she endorsed Trump’s rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, for president following the debate.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote at the time. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Trump said in an interview on Fox News&#8217;s “Fox &amp; Friends” that he “was not a Taylor Swift fan” and said “she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reacts-to-taylor-swifts-kamala-endorsement">reported</a>.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes MUCH better, if you want to know the truth,” Trump told the hosts in September, referencing Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes. Brittany made headlines after she liked a Trump post and had to defend herself against the “haters.”
“She’s a big Trump fan,” he added. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t … you couldn’t possibly endorse [President Joe] Biden.”
“You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him,” Trump continued. “But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat.”
Swift, 35, closed out her popular Eras Tour in December and has maintained a lower profile ever since. She is currently in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Speaking on Kelce’s “New Heights” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EUOvKB3jgs">podcast</a> with his brother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dont-feel-sorry-for-me-jason-kelce-addresses-those-retirement-rumors">Jason Kelce</a>, the Kansas City star tight end admitted this year was “grueling” and he’s not sure what his future in football looks like right now.
“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year,” Travis said. “Right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road. … and I’m not making any crazy decisions, but right now, the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding that there’s a lot goes into this thing.”

“That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body, and it’s a lot of time spent in the building focusing on your craft, focusing on the task at hand, every challenge that you set up for yourself, and that process can be grueling,” Kelce continued. “It can weigh on you. It can make you better, it can drive you crazy, the same time. And right now, it’s one of those things where it was kind of driving me crazy this year.”
Travis’ brother Jason, who <a href="https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/jason-kelce-announces-his-retirement">retired</a> from the NFL last year after playing for the Eagles his entire career after being drafted in 2011, sympathized with his brother, who admitted that the reality is he’s now “toward the back nine of your career.&#8221;
“As you see yourself or not feel yourself have the success that you once used to have,” Kelce said. “Man, it’s a tough pill to swallow.”
“And then on top of that, to not be there in the biggest moments, knowing your team’s counting on you, man, those are all extremely hard things, to0, it’s just a tough reality,” he added. “I think I am going to take some time to figure it out.”
“I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, then it’s going to be something that is a wholehearted decision; I’m not half-a**ing it,” Kelce continued. “I’m fully here for them. I think I can play — whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”
Kelce was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013 had has had a Hall of Fame career as the team&#8217;s star tight end.

On Sunday night, after the Philadelphia Eagles had defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, President Donald Trump took aim at pop singer Taylor Swift, who invariably is shown on TV at NFL games cheering for the Chiefs and her boyfriend Travis Kelce, the Chiefs&#8217; All-Pro tight end.
Trump targeted Swift, who had endorsed Kamala Harris for president, noting that fans booed her when she was shown on TV.

Swift actually grew up in Philadelphia as an Eagles fan but switched to the Chiefs after she started dating Kelce, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/taylor-swift-hears-loud-boos-super-bowl-lix-after-trump-gets-raucous-cheer">noted</a>. Trump received cheers when he was shown on the Jumbotron inside the Caesars Superdome.
Last September, Swift endorsed then-Vice-President Kamala Harris for president on <a href="applewebdata://88643B06-700D-4D5D-94C1-68CB856F6CA5/v">Instagram</a>. Calling herself a “childless cat lady,” she wrote, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. President Donald Trump gave his pre-Super Bowl analysis in a Truth Social post on Friday morning, praising players on both the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadephia Eagles while ripping the NFL&#8217;s new kickoff rule.
Trump is expected to be in attendance at the big game in New Orleans on Sunday, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. In his social media <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113962763765213252" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a>, Trump had some nice words for both teams&#8217; coaches, quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Trump saved his highest praise for Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
&#8220;Two great Quarterbacks in this game. Also, an unbelievable running back, and the absolute best tight end in football (Ever!),&#8221; the president wrote. &#8220;Incredible coaching!&#8221;
Trump&#8217;s praise of Kelce comes after the tight end <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/travis-kelce-shakes-off-haters-calls-it-a-great-honor-that-president-will-attend-super-bowl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told reporters</a> earlier this week that &#8220;it&#8217;s a great honor&#8221; to have Trump in attendance at the Super Bowl. &#8220;I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool,&#8221; Kelce said.
Trump harshly criticized Kelce&#8217;s superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift during the 2024 presidential campaign after she endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris. In a Truth Social post in September, Trump wrote, &#8220;I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!&#8221;
In his Friday post, Trump blasted the new kickoff rule the NFL instituted at the beginning of the 2024 season, which is meant to cut back on injuries. He also reminded people that he would sit down for an interview with Fox News&#8217;s Bret Baier before the game. The pre-Super Bowl presidential interview was a tradition before President Joe Biden <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/06/media/biden-skipping-super-bowl-interview/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">skipped</a> it in 2023 and 2024.
&#8220;If they would only get rid of that really weird looking new Kickoff &#8216;deal,&#8217; which actually makes football more dangerous, they would be doing everybody, especially the fans, a big favor,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;ANYWAY, IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME!!! Speaking to members of the <a href="https://people.com/travis-kelce-says-it-s-a-great-honor-to-have-trump-at-super-bowl-8786317">press</a>, the Chiefs player was asked his reaction to Trump becoming the first sitting U.S. President to ever attend the Super Bowl, which is set to take place between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome.
“That’s awesome. In a clip Kelce posted to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEP410wIt46/?igsh=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA%3D%3D">Instagram</a> on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs star made a brief appearance in the trailer for the new Netflix movie, telling Sandler’s character, &#8220;It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore!”
He captioned the post, “It’s great to see you back in 2025, Mr. Gilmore! Wishing everyone a HAPPY New Year with HAPPY GILMORE 2, coming to<a href="https://www.instagram.com/netflix/"> @netflix</a> in the new year.”
There were several reactions to the clip, including one message from fellow Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes, who wrote, “Let’s Go,” along with a fire emoji.

Kelce’s involvement in the film comes after the Chiefs tight end made it clear on a past episode of his podcast that he was a Happy Gilmore fan, and if there were a sequel in the works, he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae1J82fM23Q">would love to be part of it</a>. 
Sandler later appeared on the Kelce brothers&#8217; podcast and hinted at the role the Chiefs star player would have in the movie.

Fans have been waiting a long time for a sequel to Sandler’s hilarious 1996 golf comedy, in which he played hockey player turned golfer to save his grandmother’s home. Based on the trailer, several original movie stars are returning for the sequel, including Christopher McDonald as rival golfer Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen, who plays Gilmore&#8217;s love interest.
It’s fair to say the movie helped launch Sandler&#8217;s movie career, turning him from supporting roles to the leading man in such hits as “The Wedding Singer,” “The Waterboy,” “Anger Management,” and “50 First Dates.”
“Happy Gilmore 2”  is expected to debut sometime in 2025.

Former NFL player and ESPN host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jason-kelce-breaks-silence-on-penn-state-heckler-incident">Jason Kelce</a> has been cleared in a phone-smashing heckler incident at Pennsylvania State University last month.
In a statement on Tuesday, Penn State police said it has closed its investigation and Kelce has been cleared of any wrongdoing after he was seen on video throwing a heckler’s phone to the ground after the person called his brother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/travis-kelce">Travis Kelce</a> a “f****t for dating Taylor Swift,” the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nfl/article-14177971/Police-issue-major-update-Jason-Kelce-phone-smashing-incident.html">Daily Mail</a> reported.
“The individual in the video footage circulating on social media has not been identified, and no one has come forward to University Police with a related complaint about damage to personal property,” the Penn State statement read. 
In the <a href="https://x.com/Outkick/status/1852792827710697785">video</a> that surfaced on X, the former Philadelphia Eagles star was attempting to walk into the Ohio State-Penn State college football game when he was surrounded outside Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, as The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jason-kelce-harassed-at-penn-state-smashes-hecklers-phone">Daily Wire</a> previously reported. One of the people who was walking very close to him was a male college student who pointed his phone&#8217;s camera in Kelce’s face and began harassing him.
In the clip, the person could be heard saying to Kelce, whose brother is dating the superstar singer, “Kelce, how does it feel that your brother is a f****t for dating Taylor Swift?”
A second <a href="https://x.com/barstoolsports/status/1852779425990914182">video</a> showed a close-up shot of Jason looking directly at the heckler while he made the comments. In response, Kelce grabbed the phone and threw it to the ground. He then bent down to pick it up before walking away.
In a third <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB4pgg5CqFZ/?igsh=MTBlZjE4YzMxOA%3D%3D">clip</a>, Kelce could be seen bending down to pick up the dropped phone, at which point the heckler put his hand on Kelce and shoved the former NFL player to the ground. Kelce then stood up and lashed out at the heckler, saying “Who’s the f****t now?” before he walked off to attend the game.
The former Eagles star later addressed what happened in the video and admitted that he wasn’t happy with any of what had happened.
“Listen, I’m not happy with anything that took place,” Kelce said on the show. “I’m not proud of it. And in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate. And I just don’t think that that’s a productive thing.”
“I really don’t,” he added. “I don’t think that it leads to discourse and it’s the right way to go about things. In that moment I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. So, bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught … even though I fell short this week.”
Kelce retired from the Eagles in March 2024. He is a host of the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis in addition to working for the sports network.

Pop star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a> closed out her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">Eras Tour</a> this past weekend, setting a record for highest ticket sales ever, closing with just north of $2 billion in sales that were double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history, per <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/arts/music/taylor-swift-eras-tour-ticket-sales.html">The New York Times</a>.
Previously, the highest-earning tour was Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, which started in 2022 and is ongoing. That has earned just over $1 billion so far. In third place is Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour (2018-2023), which earned $939 million.
Swift’s first stop on the Eras Tour was in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023. She closed out the tour in Vancouver, Canada, at the BC Place Stadium on Sunday, telling fans, &#8220;We have toured the entire world. We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I&#8217;ve ever done in my entire life.”
Right before playing her last song, “Karma,” and leaving the stage, the 14-time Grammy Award winner said to the crowd, “I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date — my beloved Eras Tour.”

According to a report from <a href="https://people.com/taylor-swift-gave-eras-tour-crew-usd197-million-in-bonuses-exclusive-8758216" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a>, Swift gave out $197 million worth of bonuses to her tour crew, which included truck drivers, caterers, instrument techs, the merch team, lighting and sound, production staff and assistants, carpenters, dancers, a band, security, choreographers, pyrotechnics, riggers, hair, makeup, wardrobe, physical therapists, and the video team.
The singer, who now has a personal net worth of more than $1 billion, didn’t just earn money from the tour and merchandising. Swift was also the top streamed artist of 2024 on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, the outlet noted. Her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, was also the most streamed album of the last year.
She also released a self-published book called The Eras Tour Book over Thanksgiving weekend. The book included photos and text about the tour and reportedly sold 814,000 copies in two days. 
Fans headed to TikTok to point out <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-errors-tour-fans-complain-taylor-swifts-self-published-book-full-of-typos-layout-issues">multiple typos</a> and photo layout errors in the book, which they nicknamed “The Errors Tour Book.” Those complaints were not enough to stop the tidal wave of sales ahead of the holidays.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a>’s book about her massively popular Eras Tour was released on Black Friday, prompting fans to line up to purchase a copy. But now those same buyers are expressing their frustration on social media about all of the typos and layout issues in the 256-page coffee table book.
&#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/books">The Eras Tour Book,</a>&#8221; along with a vinyl and CD version of &#8220;The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,&#8221; debuted exclusively at Target for a sale price of $39.99. Fans waited in line overnight after Thanksgiving for a chance to nab their copy, and it became an instant bestseller, moving an extraordinary 814,000 copies over the holiday weekend.
That made it the biggest publishing launch of 2024, per <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/taylor-swift-eras-tour-book-first-week-sales-1235845444/">Billboard</a>.
But now that fans have had a chance to page through the book, which features more than 500 photos from The Eras Tour and some of Swift&#8217;s thoughts about it, they’re pointing out multiple problems. Some have even nicknamed it “The Errors Tour.”
These mistakes likely stem from the fact that the 34-year-old singer chose to self-publish instead of going through traditional publishing channels. The book was released through Taylor Swift Publications.

Some examples include the &#8220;Folklore&#8221; song &#8220;This Is Me Trying,&#8221; which appears in the book as &#8220;This Is Me Rying,&#8221; per <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/taylor-swift-fans-lined-target-220553826.html">Business Insider</a>. The song &#8220;Gold Rush,&#8221; from &#8220;Evermore,&#8221; appears as one word in the book but is supposed to be two.
The book also incorrectly lists the singer’s Toronto tour stops as &#8220;November 14-16, 22-23,&#8221; ignoring the show she also played there on November 21.

As for the insider snippets from Swift, many are <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/12/06/taylor-swift-eras-tour-book-typos-tiktok-labour-wembley/">saying</a> the book included unnecessary commas and had the same words in consecutive lines, as well as “clunky sentences.” Fans also said they wanted more behind-the-scenes details.
&#8220;I thought there would be a lot more little blurbs about the making of the show,&#8221; one purchaser told BI. &#8220;Not full essays, but like, &#8216;Oh, here&#8217;s me behind stage,&#8217; you know, little things and a few more behind-the-scenes pictures.&#8221;
Typos aren’t the only issue being called out. After many fans expressed dismay over the cover image, which shows Swift making a face they say is weird, they also noticed that the image layouts throughout the book seem off. In some cases, it’s hard to see the photos that span across multiple pages, and they say some images look blurry.
“Maybe that’s stylistic and cute to some people, but that’s a mistake to me,” one TikTok user said.
Some fans complained of pages being printed upside down. Social media is full of Swifties posting examples of the mistakes.

Once a feature of far-left organizations, land acknowledgment have become popular among liberals in recent years. The 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/dnc-opens-land-acknowledgment-forcibly-removed-tribal-nation">opened</a> with a statement that the convention was taking place on land where a Native American tribe had been &#8220;forcibly removed&#8221;
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-school-districts-across-the-country-say-america-was-built-on-stolen-land">reported</a> earlier this year that over 100 public school districts in the United States have “land acknowledgement statements,” many of which say the United States was built on “stolen land” and committed genocide.

There was a mildly successful <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkzAgsOQJQE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commercial</a> back in 2016 where LeBron James was promoting Sprite. He keeps looking into the camera and saying, &#8220;I won&#8217;t tell you to drink a Sprite.&#8221; It&#8217;s supposed to be engaging and funny because you see, normally, when celebrities appear in advertisements, they tell you to buy a product. But here you had LeBron James, appearing in a Sprite commercial, refusing to endorse Sprite. It really subverted everyone&#8217;s expectations.
Reverse psychology like this has become popular in advertising because the typical direct, straightforward celebrity endorsement doesn&#8217;t have the same impact that it once did. This is also why the idea of &#8220;reverse endorsements&#8221; has become a thing. This is when a company puts a celebrity on its board of directors to make them seem really invested in the company, when it&#8217;s basically a no-show job. Derek Jeter had a &#8220;reverse endorsement&#8221; <a href="https://www.lawjournalnewsletters.com/2016/10/18/jeter-endorsement-dispute-examines-role-as-a-director-of-apparel-company/?srsltid=AfmBOopnBt1NPpb0WFiFsazkLNHD4cPHVt___A7Xqh7cNIaYkWtRI7QP&amp;slreturn=20241107193919" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deal</a> with a company called RevolutionWear, that makes some kind of high-tech underwear. It all fell apart and ended in lawsuits when the company collapsed, because the world of high-tech underwear is apparently extremely cutthroat.
But the point is, this underwear company thought they&#8217;d get more value out of presenting Derek Jeter as a &#8220;director&#8221; of the company, rather than just going with the normal, direct celebrity endorsement. There are about a million other examples of this, because the memo has gone out. In the entertainment world, traditional celebrity endorsements aren&#8217;t as interesting as they used to be. If you want a celebrity endorsement to have an impact, you have to get creative with it. And even then, most people probably still won&#8217;t care.

They think that, once the normal person hears one of these endorsements, they undergo a form of mind control where they&#8217;re hopeless to resist.

This is Joy Reid trying to process how Donald Trump could have possibly defeated Kamala Harris. After all, Kamala Harris ran a &#8220;flawless campaign.&#8221; And as evidence of the proposition that Kamala Harris ran a &#8220;flawless campaign,&#8221; Joy Reid cites all of Kamala Harris&#8217; celebrity endorsements. This is footage that belongs in a museum for future historians studying the downfall of the Democrat Party and the corporate press. Watch:

There&#8217;s a lot to consider in that clip, but really at this point you can&#8217;t be mad at Joy Reid. Everyone knows she is what we may call, politely, a very special person. What&#8217;s kind of remarkable is that everyone else on the panel — people who are extremely partisan, but not clinically insane — just nod along when she makes this claim. She&#8217;s suggesting that a political endorsement by Queen Latifah is so rare and enigmatic that, if a candidate should ever obtain it, then that candidate must be blessed by the gods. That candidate would be destined to win. I guess that makes sense. She is royalty after all.
But that was a moment that should&#8217;ve been a bridge too far, even for an MSNBC panel. For one thing, the premise isn&#8217;t even true. We&#8217;re talking about the same &#8220;Queen Latifah&#8221; who performed at Obama&#8217;s inauguration after telling people to vote for hope and change. And then she did a skit with Kamala Harris just a few months ago at the &#8220;NAACP Image Awards,&#8221; telling everyone to register to vote because otherwise Trump will win. Yes, this is the Queen Latifah that supposedly never gets involved in politics.
But on top of that, even if we pretend Queen Latifah never gets involved in politics, the idea that her endorsement will sway anyone — or that it&#8217;s a sign of a &#8220;flawless campaign&#8221; — suggests that Democrats are suffering from a level of delusion that is truly unprecedented. And that becomes even more apparent when you look at this vaunted Queen Latifah endorsement they&#8217;re talking about. 
She just sits in a chair and, instead of talking about makeup, she reads off some talking points from Kamala Harris&#8217; campaign. Watch:

One of the many amusing things about this video is the comments section, and how it differs depending on the platform. If you go on Instagram, a lot of the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/queenlatifah/reel/DB-94jSRJtS/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comments</a> are pretty supportive. There&#8217;s people posting heart emojis everywhere, saying it&#8217;s a powerful message, and how Queen Latifah is their hero and so on. One person wrote, &#8220;I’m going to always love you Queen Latifah ! Never change.&#8221;
And then you go on X, and it&#8217;s a completely different scenario. It&#8217;s like stepping out of a country club and into the Vietnam War. The top <a href="https://x.com/hodgetwins/status/1853816198627999886" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comment</a> is, &#8220;Did you go to the Diddy parties too?&#8221; The next <a href="https://x.com/apst_paul_Adams/status/1853752752205111495" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one</a> is, &#8220;How much were you paid?&#8221; And then <a href="https://x.com/VernonForGA/status/1853770039305945296" target="_blank" rel="noopener">there&#8217;s</a>, &#8220;Another weak man for Kamala.&#8221; It&#8217;s just brutal, if also hilarious, and completely justified.
It&#8217;s yet another reason the Left wants to destroy X. People on X generally reflect what&#8217;s going on in the country. But if you spend all your time on Reddit or Instagram, you might end up like Joy Reid. You might have thought Kamala Harris had this in the bag. After all, Queen Latifah&#8217;s on her side, and everyone else on the platform loves it. And then you go on X and everyone&#8217;s wondering how much she was paid.
Now, to be clear, I&#8217;m not saying Queen Latifah was paid for this endorsement. I would never suggest such a thing. But in general, it is worth noting that the Kamala Harris campaign raised something like $1 billion dollars, and they ended the campaign in debt by $20 million dollars. They had $120 million in the bank just a month ago, and now they&#8217;re in the red. And a lot of that money probably did go to some celebrity performances, like the one Megan Thee Stallion did at a Kamala rally. But in any event, it&#8217;s clear that this was a horribly managed campaign in every respect. So it&#8217;s not exactly unthinkable that these people truly thought an endorsement by Queen Latifah would help them win. They really seemed to think that people wanted to see stuff like this.
That would explain why they courted the endorsement of Cardi B, who&#8217;s so illiterate that it actually caused problems for the campaign. Mid-endorsement, her teleprompter went out, so she couldn&#8217;t say anything until someone ran up with a phone containing her prepared statement. Watch:

You have to wonder, again, who this is supposed to impress. Even if she had read all of that perfectly, who exactly is supposed to care about this? What demographic are they targeting?
Whatever they were going for, it didn&#8217;t work. Pretty much the only demographic group that Kamala Harris won on Tuesday, according to exit polls, was the same group Joy Reid belongs to: black women. She won by something like 92%. It&#8217;s a two-percent improvement from Joe Biden two years ago. But both of these numbers are actually low, by Democrats&#8217; standards. Obama got more than 95% of the vote from black women. Hillary Clinton got 94%. So if anything, there&#8217;s some evidence that endorsements like this aren&#8217;t really helping, even among Democrats&#8217; most loyal constituency.
The Guardian certainly seems to think there&#8217;s a good chance these endorsements aren&#8217;t helping anywhere. They just ran a big article that explores the question of why all these celebrities, from Bruce Springsteen to George Clooney to Taylor Swift, may have actually been <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2024/nov/06/celebrity-endorsements-didnt-help-kamala-harris-taylor-swift-beyonce">counterproductive</a>: 
<blockquote>A poll from YouGov shortly after [Taylor] Swift’s endorsement found that only 8% of voters would be &#8216;somewhat&#8217; or &#8216;much more&#8217; likely to vote for Harris – with a surprising 20% saying the endorsement actually made them less likely to vote for her.</blockquote>
Yes, as we talked about at the time, Taylor Swift&#8217;s endorsement might have made people less likely to support Kamala Harris. And there&#8217;s evidence this took the Harris campaign by surprise. 
The article also <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2024/nov/06/celebrity-endorsements-didnt-help-kamala-harris-taylor-swift-beyonce">states</a>:

The Harris campaign leaned into the endorsement, changing the backdrop of its official X page to the same garish green colour used on the record’s sleeve. &#8230; Yet as the dust settles on an extremely depressing election result, it appears clear that not only did Charli xcx’s tweet have no meaningful impact on the election result, nor did the endorsement of any celebrity.</blockquote>
This was a big problem for Kamala because, to the extent she had a campaign strategy at all, it hinged almost entirely on endorsements. Kamala was endorsed by all of the most famous celebrities in Hollywood and the music industry. It paid off with a crushing and historic defeat. Why might that be?
Unlike the panel on MSNBC, I&#8217;ll answer that question. For one thing, as I mentioned earlier, celebrity endorsements in general aren&#8217;t that effective anymore. But they&#8217;re particularly ineffective right now, when inflation is high and people are struggling to afford essentials. In an economic environment like that, Americans aren&#8217;t particularly interested in sermons from obscenely wealthy entertainers — not that they&#8217;re all that interested even in a good economy.

The other problem is that the power of celebrity in general has been massively watered down in recent years. There are just so many of them that even the biggest ones (like Taylor Swift or Beyonce) don&#8217;t have the kind of culture-changing impact that Michael Jackson or Elvis had decades ago. When a woman can become famous by saying &#8220;Hawk Tuah,&#8221; the whole concept of a &#8220;celebrity&#8221; loses a lot of its luster. 
This has been obvious to everyone for some time, which is why a lot of celebrities have found new ways to endorse products, like those &#8220;reverse endorsement&#8221; deals that I mentioned. But apparently, it wasn&#8217;t obvious to the Kamala Harris campaign. They believed, in all seriousness, that amassing a bunch of these vapid, cookie-cutter endorsements would win them the election. They thought Americans cared so little about substance that they&#8217;d vote for a candidate who can barely articulate a coherent thought, all because of the endorsements of some other morons who also can&#8217;t articulate coherent thoughts. After what happened on Tuesday, there&#8217;s no one — except maybe MSNBC anchors — who seriously thinks that these celebrities have any sway over anyone anymore.
