Former Washington Post and New York Times tech reporter Taylor Lorenz repeatedly refused to offer outright condemnation of vigilante violence like that allegedly perpetrated by Luigi Mangione against the late UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Lorenz, who faced backlash for her initial reaction to the broad-daylight execution of the insurance executive, joined Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday — and every time he pressed her on the issue, she tried to qualify Thompson&#8217;s murder by suggesting that insurance company policies provoked violence.

He’s a person who seems like he’s this morally good man, which is hard to find.&#8221;
She tried to explain her assessment in greater detail to Hannity.
&#8220;What I&#8217;m describing, and if you watch the full segment, not just the clip, you&#8217;ll see that I&#8217;m just describing the mentality of these fangirls [who] show up outside Luigi&#8217;s court and show up outside his jail cell. Those girls are not me, OK? We have very separate belief systems. But I was describing how they believe,&#8221; she said.
But when Hannity pressed her, several times, to either condemn Mangione&#8217;s alleged actions or others&#8217; calls for assassinations, Lorenz deflected — and at one point, she joked, &#8220;Gosh, you&#8217;re gonna ask if I condemn Hamas next. This is insane!&#8221;
Hannity repeated his prompt several times, but Lorenz continued to pivot, complaining, &#8220;You want to talk about the assassination of innocent people? I believe that the tens of thousands of Americans [who] die each year because of the lack of health insurance. That is, to me, a violence in itself. That is assassination.&#8221;
Hannity tried once more, asking if those cheering on the death of another human being — a husband and a father — lacked &#8220;a soul, a conscience and a heart.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, what I will say, Sean, once again, is that I believe in free speech. I don&#8217;t believe in things like, you know, religious things like souls and all of these things.&#8221;

Former Washington Post and New York Times tech reporter Taylor Lorenz doubled down on her previous comments regarding Luigi Mangione, the man who is charged with the broad-daylight slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Lorenz, who was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ex-wapo-reporter-taylor-lorenz-says-united-healthcare-ceos-murder-brought-her-joy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously blasted</a> for saying that she&#8217;d felt &#8220;joy&#8221; when she heard that Thompson had been gunned down — and then, while attempting to walk that back slightly, simultaneously argued that insurance companies that delayed or denied coverage were guilty of murder. &#8220;Maybe not joy, but certainly not — certainly not empathy,&#8221; she said, shocking show host Piers Morgan and her fellow guests.
Lorenz followed that up with an appearance Sunday on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;MisinfoNation&#8221; with host Donie O&#8217;Sullivan, where she laughed off the people who seem obsessed with Mangione and claimed it was because he seemed to be a &#8220;morally good man&#8221; — and mocked the people who were shocked that anyone would look at an alleged murderer as a hero.

&#8220;To see these millionaire media pundits on TV clutching their pearls about someone stanning a murderer when this is the United States of America. O&#8217;Sullivan pressed her to elaborate, mentioning the women who had even showed up outside the courthouse when Mangione was there.
&#8220;You’re going to see women especially that feel like, Oh my God, right? Like, here’s this man who’s revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who is young, who’s smart. He’s a person that seems like this morally good man, which is hard to find,&#8221; Lorenz claimed.
Instead of pushing back, O&#8217;Sullivan joked, &#8220;Yeah, I just realized women will literally date an assassin before they swipe right on me. That’s where we’re at.&#8221;
One point of agreement, for both O&#8217;Sullivan and Lorenz, was their belief that the people raving over Mangione and supporters of President Donald Trump were no different.
&#8220;I totally agree. They want somebody to take on this system. They want someone to tear down these barbaric establishment institutions,&#8221; Lorenz explained.

In a video clip that circulated on Monday, Lorenz sparked an immediate reaction from Morgan when she made the comment on his show.

Morgan cut in again, showing surveillance video that had caught the execution-style murder, and asking, &#8220;How can this make you joyful? This man is a husband, he&#8217;s a father —&#8221;
Lorenz argued that Thompson was himself guilty of &#8220;murder,&#8221; claiming that he was responsible for &#8220;millions&#8221; of deaths because of his business practices.
&#8220;So are the tens of thousands of Americans — innocent Americans — who died because greedy health insurance executives like this one push policies of denying care to the most vulnerable people,&#8221; she complained, quickly revising down her numbers.
Lorenz went on to say that she had personally watched people she loved &#8220;suffer&#8221; because of people like Thompson.

Morgan asked whether she&#8217;d be &#8220;more joyful&#8221; if those other executives were killed off as well, and Lorenz continued to backpedal. She claimed that feeling &#8220;joy&#8221; at the death of one did not mean she wanted more of them to die.
Shortly after the clip went viral, Semafor <a href="https://www.semafor.com/article/12/08/2024/taylor-lorenz-and-vox-are-parting-ways" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Vox Media — which partnered with Lorenz to distribute her podcast — was severing ties with her. The report indicated that the contract between Lorenz and Vox was set to expire at the end of the year, and that a decision had been made not to renew that contract prior to her controversial comments.
Lorenz has denied that Vox is walking away from the partnership, promising to reveal all on her podcast in the coming days.

After the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, PA, there was an outpouring of very primal and vicious rage from all corners of the Left — both on social media, and in the mainstream corporate outlets. For the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-deafening-silence-of-academia-and-corporate-america-after-the-trump-assassination-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first time</a> in American history, the near-assassination of a president didn&#8217;t bring about a period of national mourning, or condemnations from Hollywood and academia. Instead, the overwhelming sentiment was, in effect, that Donald Trump had it coming. It continued even after their second assassination attempt on Trump, which led the the New York Times to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/16/us/politics/trump-violence-assassination-attempt.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explain</a> that Trump was blameworthy because he had &#8220;stirred&#8221; anger among the public. Many other publications followed suit.
Obviously, blaming Trump for his own attempted assassination was always demented. But we were supposed to believe that it was acceptable to blame Trump, at least in part, because he&#8217;s such a polarizing figure. The Left insisted that they aren&#8217;t always this bloodthirsty. They said that they didn&#8217;t want to see every single one of their enemies get murdered in public, live on national television. Instead, they said that they just wanted to see Donald Trump get murdered in public, because he&#8217;s basically Hitler, and Hitler is a special case. Once Hitler&#8217;s out of the way, they said, they&#8217;d return to being normal, functioning citizens who don&#8217;t want to murder their enemies all the time.
This is a defense that was never believable. But after the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan this week, even the Left is completely abandoning the whole pretense. If anything, the Left seems to be gloating over the execution of Thompson even more than the Trump assassination attempt. It&#8217;s not an exaggeration to say that I&#8217;ve never seen anything quite like this. They are declaring, without any hint of reservation, that it&#8217;s “open season” on everyone they don&#8217;t like. They are gleefully celebrating the horrific demise of a human being. Whether you&#8217;re a politician or a business executive, it doesn&#8217;t matter. They don&#8217;t want you fired, they don&#8217;t want you in prison — they want you dead.
Former Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz couldn&#8217;t have been any more explicit about this. She posted an <a href="https://substack.com/home/post/p-152626476" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> on her newsletter entitled, &#8220;Yes, &#8216;we&#8217; want insurance executives dead.&#8221; She also posted an image of party balloons with the celebratory caption, &#8220;CEO Down.&#8221; And she wrote that, while people shouldn&#8217;t &#8220;murder&#8221; these executives, it&#8217;s &#8220;normal&#8221; to wish death upon them.

Separately, in response to a news article about how Blue Cross Blue Shield recently announced that it won&#8217;t pay for anesthesia past a certain point, Lorenz <a href="https://x.com/JeremiahDJohns/status/1864728908098146642" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>: &#8220;And people wonder why we want these executives dead.&#8221; She also <a href="https://x.com/Legal_Fil/status/1864460915174678961" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> the name and picture of the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield, effectively suggesting that someone assassinate her. There&#8217;s really no other way to interpret it. This is the same woman who says you&#8217;re a psychopath if you go outside without a mask and &#8220;rawdog the air.&#8221; But wishing death on healthcare executives is apparently completely fine.
I could spend the next month going through all of the reactions like this from the Left. Suffice it to say, this kind of response was not unusual. For example, Columbia University professor Anthony Zenkus, who apparently specializes in the field of &#8220;social work,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/anthonyzenkus/status/1864415627844178087" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>: &#8220;Today, we mourn the death of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, gunned down&#8230;. wait, I&#8217;m sorry &#8211; today we mourn the deaths of the 68,000 Americans who needlessly die each year so that insurance company execs like Brian Thompson can become multimillionaires.&#8221;
Then there was this response from someone named &#8220;Angie,&#8221; who said that the murder of the CEO had made her feel &#8220;reinvigorated&#8221;:

These people are euphoric over the murder of a man with a family, supposedly because they&#8217;re not happy with his company&#8217;s insurance coverage. And now, like Taylor Lorenz, they&#8217;re turning their attention — and their threats — towards other CEOs.
And it appears to be working. Within hours of the online campaign to harass and threaten the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield, the company announced a reversal of its planned policy on anesthesia coverage. They now <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/05/health/anthem-blue-cross-blue-shield-anesthesia-claim-limits/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">say</a> they&#8217;re going to &#8220;halt&#8221; their proposed limits on coverage for anesthesia during surgery. The company put out <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/05/health/anthem-blue-cross-blue-shield-anesthesia-claim-limits/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a statement</a> reading: “There has been significant widespread misinformation about an update to our anesthesia policy. As a result, we have decided to not proceed with this policy change. To be clear, it never was and never will be the policy of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to not pay for medically necessary anesthesia services. The proposed update to the policy was only designed to clarify the appropriateness of anesthesia consistent with well-established clinical guidelines.”
On the surface, this looks like a victory for the assassin and his supporters. The assassin kills one insurance company CEO, and then the next day, an insurance company rescinds its plans to limit coverage. It&#8217;s the kind of thing that seems like a major victory if you have no idea how the health insurance industry works.
The catch is that, as a result of this reversal, anesthesiologists no longer have any incentive to stop overbilling — which has been a major problem in their field in recent years. Blue Cross Blue Shield, along with other insurance companies, was <a href="https://x.com/cremieuxrecueil/status/1864856183544168544" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trying</a> to force anesthesiologists to accept the standard, per-procedure Medicare rate for their services. Anesthesiologists hated that idea, because they&#8217;d prefer to keep charging high rates for hours that they weren&#8217;t even working. And now, because of a harassment campaign by Left-wing activists in the wake of a CEO&#8217;s murder, those anesthesiologists have won. In other words, the same people who complain that healthcare costs are too high might have just made it a lot easier for anesthesiologists to jack up healthcare costs even further.
It&#8217;s a development that underscores the complexity of the situation here. There are nuances that are lost when you&#8217;re re-enacting the French Revolution and murdering people in the street, instead of discussing complicated issues like reasonable people are supposed to do, in the &#8220;democracy&#8221; that the Left told us was so important.
To be clear, there&#8217;s certainly evidence that companies like UnitedHealthcare are becoming much more aggressive in denying certain kinds of claims. A <a href="https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024.10.17-PSI-Majority-Staff-Report-on-Medicare-Advantage.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate report</a> from this year, for example, found that: &#8220;In 2019, UnitedHealthcare issued an initial denial to 8.7 percent of the post-acute care prior authorization requests it received; by 2022, it denied 22.7 percent of all such requests, an increase of 172 percent. &#8230; Its 2022 denial rate for skilled nursing facilities was nine times higher than it was three years before.&#8221; 
The Democrat-led Senate committee concluded that, &#8220;Medicare Advantage insurers are intentionally targeting a costly but critical area of medicine — substituting judgment about medical necessity with a calculation about financial gain.&#8221;
What the report doesn&#8217;t mention is that UnitedHealthCare has profit margins of around 6%. After tax, it&#8217;s really under 4%. That means that, as a matter of basic finance, they&#8217;re not driving up profits to some ridiculous degree. Like any business, they have a lot of operating costs. They assume risks. If they started approving every claim, they&#8217;d go out of business overnight.

The other important element here that Democrats overlook, for obvious reasons, is that Democrats are the ones who implemented coverage mandates, which inevitably raise the price of insurance for everyone. We saw that immediately after Obamacare, which was supposed to lower everyone&#8217;s premiums. In reality, it increased them dramatically. 
The point I&#8217;m making here is not that UnitedHealthcare is blameless, or that the insurance industry in general shouldn&#8217;t be criticized. Or that the CEO that was just killed is some kind of saint. I have no idea what kind of guy he is. He could be the very face of evil, or he could be a decent guy, or somewhere in between. I have no clue. What I&#8217;m saying is that there are no open-and-shut, clear-cut solutions to this problem. Any kind of solution requires real debate and discussion, not murdering executives in the streets. And that should make you wonder why, exactly, the Left is so supportive of Brian Thompson&#8217;s murder. If they don&#8217;t actually care about fixing the health insurance industry, then what do they care about?
It would be one thing if these Left-wing activists had the view that sometimes, when things get bad enough, an assassin needs to step up and take someone out for the good of the community. I&#8217;m not endorsing that view, obviously, but at least there&#8217;s a kind of moral coherence there. If they really believed that United Healthcare is essentially murdering people, and profiting from unspeakable moral evils, then you can see why some of these depraved Leftists might get excited by the prospect of eliminating one of the company&#8217;s executives.
But any semblance of coherence goes out the window the moment you zoom out a hundred feet, and look at how these same activists are reacting to the trial of Daniel Penny. If these people really thought that it&#8217;s good and righteous to eliminate a clear and present danger to the community — as they do with the CEO of UnitedHealthcare — then why exactly do they have any objection to what Daniel Penny did? Why did they storm the subways in protest after Jordan Neely&#8217;s death, chanting &#8220;No justice, no peace&#8221;? Why have they been outside the courthouse for every day of deliberations, pressuring the jurors to convict? Why isn&#8217;t Taylor Lorenz writing articles about how it&#8217;s &#8220;normal&#8221; to be happy that Jordan Neely is dead? Why aren&#8217;t the Columbia professors telling us not to mourn his death?
Even if we assume that Daniel Penny actually murdered Jordan Neely, which isn&#8217;t true, what&#8217;s the objection? Even if you pretend that Daniel Penny put a silencer on a pistol, waited until 6 AM until Jordan Neely started walking into a Hilton Hotel to terrorize some shareholder meeting, and then shot him in the back — then why exactly would Leftists be upset?
There&#8217;s no way to dispute that Jordan Neely was a menace to the community. He violently assaulted multiple people, including women who were just trying to take a ride on the subway. He was threatening an entire subway car of innocent passengers the day he died. His Michael Jackson impersonation didn&#8217;t seem particularly noteworthy. He was, in every respect, a net negative on society — a clear threat to the safety and well-being of the working class. So why exactly is anyone on the Left upset that Daniel Penny took action to eliminate the threat posed by Jordan Neely, while they&#8217;re busy swooning over the assassin of the UnitedHealthCare CEO in Manhattan?
There&#8217;s really only one way to make sense of it. In their world view, Jordan Neely — as a black drug addict criminal — has a life of greater value than a white male health insurance CEO. Nobody wants to say that out loud, but it&#8217;s true. If Brian Thompson had been the CEO of the same company, but he was a black woman, you would not be seeing any of the gloating and celebration. You&#8217;d probably be seeing the opposite, in fact. The Washington Post would be working overtime to find the assassin and dox everyone in his family. They&#8217;d re-hire Taylor Lorenz and have her track down the white supremacist killer, along with every single social media post he&#8217;s made since he was in kindergarten. They&#8217;d probably solve the case in about ten minutes.

But as it stands, his victim happened to fit the demographic profile of a greedy, sub-human colonizer. In other words, he was white. It didn&#8217;t even matter to them that this CEO was probably a liberal. His company&#8217;s PAC certainly donated a lot of money to Kamala Harris. That wasn&#8217;t important to them. 
So we&#8217;re left with murderous, unrestrained anti-white race hatred under the guise of concern about health insurance costs — a problem that none of these people actually have any interest in fixing, because all they do when they&#8217;re in power is make insurance premiums even higher. Their primary interest is destabilizing this country by dehumanizing as many white people as possible. And if that means killing some of them, so be it.
That explains the response to what happened in Butler. And it explains the response to what just happened in Midtown Manhattan in front of the Hilton Hotel. If you&#8217;re a white conservative Christian, and you think that these people wouldn&#8217;t gloat the same exact way if you were murdered while you were on your way to work, then you have no idea what the Left is capable of, or what they really believe.
At this point, we don&#8217;t know why exactly Brian Thompson was executed. But we do know why these ghouls are celebrating his assassin, even as they demonize men like Daniel Penny. Pay attention to what they&#8217;re saying. Spend some time reading their euphoric posts on social media. And soon enough you&#8217;ll find that, even if you&#8217;re not the CEO of a major health insurance company, they&#8217;ll have no problem coming for you next.

Taylor Lorenz, a former Washington Post and New York Times reporter and current podcaster for Vox Media, said on Wednesday that she wants health insurance executives &#8220;dead&#8221; just hours after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was assassinated in Midtown Manhattan.
On the social media platform Bluesky, Lorenz reposted a report about Blue Cross Blue Shield not covering anesthesia costs for the entirety of some surgeries. Lorenz wrote, &#8220;And people wonder why we want these executives dead.&#8221; In <a href="https://x.com/clairlemon/status/1864503233798131957">another post</a>, Lorenz reposted a different link to the Blue Cross report and included a screenshot of Blue Cross Blue Shield CEO Kim Keck.
On X, Lorenz <a href="https://x.com/GrittyGetLitty/status/1864357104435249663" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reposted</a> a user who wrote, &#8220;Brian Thompson killed more US Citizens than every serial killer combined, but because he made money off it the media considered him a successful businessman and morally upstanding citizen.&#8221; Lorenz also reposted a Bluesky user who wrote, &#8220;[H]ypothetically, would it be considered an actionable threat to start emailing other insurance CEOs a simple ‘you&#8217;re next’? Completely unrelated to current events btw.&#8221;
Lorenz later justified her posts about Thompson and other health insurance executives, <a href="https://bsky.app/profile/taylorlorenz.bsky.social/post/3lcj4y7ndak2x" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writing</a>, &#8220;People have very justified hatred toward insurance company CEOs because these executives are responsible for an unfathomable amount of death and suffering. As someone against death and suffering, I think it’s good to call out this broken system and the ppl in power who enable it.&#8221;
The leftist tech writer told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/former-wapo-reporter-says-we-want-executives-dead-after-murder-health-insurance-ceo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> that her post &#8220;is explaining the public sentiment.&#8221;

Thompson, 50, was killed on Wednesday morning by a masked gunman in dark clothing. The assassin shot the health insurance CEO multiple times before fleeing the scene and is still at-large. Detectives investigating the scene where Thompson was killed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cryptic-messages-found-on-shell-casings-at-scene-where-health-insurance-ceo-was-gunned-down" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found shell casings</a> with the words “deny,” “defend,” and “depose” written on them, according to ABC News.
Thompson received multiple death threats before he was killed, and authorities are looking into the nature and source of those threats. UnitedHealthcare has been criticized for denying patients’ claims.

One of the main lines of attack against Jair Bolsonaro, who served as president of Brazil until 2022, was one that we&#8217;re all very familiar with at this point. Liberals claimed that Bolsonaro was an &#8220;enemy of democracy.&#8221; Media outlets — both in the United States and Brazil — claimed that Bolsonaro was an autocrat who wanted to suspend the rule of law and use the force of government to punish his political enemies. This message resonated with Brazilians because some very prominent figures promoted it — including a former prosecutor-turned Supreme Court judge named Alexandre de Moraes. Among the Brazilian Left, de Moraes was something of a hero for taking on Bolsonaro. Most notably, the judge presided over a tribunal that banned Bolsonaro from running for office for 8 years.
Why? Bolsonaro allegedly spread &#8220;lies about voting machines,&#8221; which supposedly inspired a mob to ransack Congress, the presidential palace and other government buildings. It was basically Brazil&#8217;s January 6. So in the name of protecting democracy, the judge prevented people from voting for Bolsonaro for the better part of a decade.
He did to Bolsonaro exactly what the Left wanted to do to Donald Trump.
So what are the &#8220;defenders of democracy&#8221; up to in Brazil, just two years later? How are these crusaders for democratic norms faring in 2024?
As you may have heard, de Moraes just issued maybe the single most undemocratic and authoritarian court decision in the modern history of Brazil. He has unilaterally ordered a total ban on Elon Musk&#8217;s social media platform, X. No one in Brazil — a country where more than 20 million people used X — is legally allowed to use the platform. Anyone caught using a VPN to bypass this restriction can be fined roughly $9,000 per day, which is about 6 times the average Brazilian&#8217;s monthly salary. Additionally, de Moraes has fined X more than $3 million.

He&#8217;s also frozen the assets of Elon Musk&#8217;s company Starlink, which provides internet access to hundreds of thousands of Brazilians living in remote areas. The point was to compel Starlink, an independent internet provider, to ban X as well. And on top of that, the Brazilian court system is now pressuring SpaceX, even though they have nothing whatsoever to do with the company. So SpaceX now has to pull employees out of Brazil.
The judge has gone to war with X for a very simple reason: The company refused to block certain accounts that, in the eyes of the Brazilian government, &#8220;harmed democratic institutions in Brazil.&#8221; And then, X refused to appoint an in-person local legal representative in Brazil, because the judge had threatened to arrest the representative to extract concessions from X. So in order to &#8220;protect democratic institutions&#8221; supposedly, tens of millions of Brazilians can no longer access the single most popular news app in the country. They have to turn to the corporate press to learn what they&#8217;re allowed to hear. Only approved narratives are allowed in Brazil right now.

For Elon Musk, the showdown in Brazil is obviously a major test. He&#8217;s long maintained that he&#8217;ll obey the laws of whatever countries his companies are operating in. But he maintains that Brazil&#8217;s judges are violating Brazil&#8217;s constitution, which isn&#8217;t exactly a hard case to make at this point. This week The Economist took a closer look at the judge who issued this order against X and Starlink. <a href="https://www.economist.com/the-americas/2024/09/03/the-all-powerful-judge-taking-on-elon-musk">Here&#8217;s</a> what they found:
<blockquote>Mr Moraes also has form: he is a man who likes and understands power. He has extensive contacts in the federal police, military and intelligence services. &#8230; Other decisions have made the court look authoritarian. In 2019 Mr Moraes was put in charge of investigating misinformation about the Supreme Court and threats against the court’s members and their relatives. These had spiked after the election of Mr Bolsonaro. The &#8216;fake-news&#8217; inquiry was contentious from the start. Normally investigations are opened by the public prosecutor or the police. By giving itself the power to initiate investigations the Supreme Court became victim, prosecutor and judge all at once. No time limit was set, there is no legal definition for disinformation in Brazil and Mr Moraes has not made public which accounts he has ordered shut and why.</blockquote>
This is a violation of one of the most basic principles of every functioning legal system, which is that courts are only supposed to resolve legal disputes that are brought to them. That is their one and only job. Some party — whether it&#8217;s a citizen or the government or some other entity — needs to bring a case to the courts. And then the courts rule on it.
Once the courts have the authority to generate cases on their own, and make up arbitrary rules to enforce, then they&#8217;re not really courts anymore. Instead of judges, you have de facto dictators. And that&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening right now to Elon Musk and his companies in Brazil.
You&#8217;d hope that an incident like this would trigger immediate condemnations from the State Department. After all, the Biden administration claims to care very deeply about democracy. It&#8217;s essentially all they ever talk about. But there has been no condemnation from the mainstream Left in this country. In fact, if you listen to the corporate press, you&#8217;ll find a handful of reports essentially blaming Elon Musk for objecting to what the courts in Brazil are doing. 
Here for example is the BBC, which for some reason is pretending Taylor Lorenz — who openly hates Elon Musk — is an impartial expert on this topic. Watch:

&#8220;He could have prevented the ban, but he chose not to.&#8221; Notice how the Brazilian government — which just shut down an entire social media app for millions of people — has no agency in Taylor Lorenz&#8217;s analysis. A private company refused to do the bidding of the Brazilian government. And therefore, it&#8217;s the private company&#8217;s fault that they got shut down. That&#8217;s how Taylor Lorenz, who works for The Washington Post, is selling this decision by the Brazilian Supreme Court. It&#8217;s how the BBC is presenting the news.
It&#8217;s not hard to see what&#8217;s going on here. Brazil is the template for mass censorship in the United States. If they can pull it off in Brazil, they&#8217;re going to try to pull it off here. That&#8217;s why the corporate press is presenting Elon Musk as the villain in this scenario. The media has a vested interest in shutting down X because it&#8217;s one of their biggest competitors. Random posts on X get more viewers than CNN&#8217;s entire primetime lineup. So in order to lay the groundwork for shutting down X in this country, they&#8217;re saying Elon Musk had it coming in Brazil. 
And it&#8217;s not just the media that&#8217;s trying to send this message. Senior figures in the Democrat Party are doing it too. For example, Keith Ellison is the attorney general of the State of Minnesota. He&#8217;s the chief legal officer of a major state. He&#8217;s also closely aligned with Kamala Harris&#8217; campaign. He just spoke at the DNC a few weeks ago. Here&#8217;s what Keith Ellison says about what&#8217;s happening to Elon Musk&#8217;s companies in Brazil.

Again, Keith Ellison is not some backbench politician from a no-name congressional district. He&#8217;s the chief law officer of Minnesota. And he&#8217;s endorsing the total shutdown of a major social media platform because it wouldn&#8217;t censor the political opponents of the government.
Politicians like Keith Ellison crave censorship because they&#8217;re corrupt. They only care about power. And they&#8217;re willing to lie in order to get it. Remember what Keith Ellison did during the George Floyd riots. Ellison&#8217;s office hid bodycam footage showing that George Floyd said, &#8220;I can&#8217;t breathe,&#8221; several times, while he was struggling with cops in the backseat of a police cruiser — long before he was on the ground with a knee near his neck. That was obviously relevant information because it suggested that Floyd was having a fatal overdose, and that he couldn&#8217;t breathe because he had taken a lethal quantity of fentanyl. So Keith Ellison&#8217;s office suppressed the footage.
Democrats like Keith Ellison want total control of social media platforms like X so that they can suppress information like that even more often, and even more easily. They want to be able to shut down any information or opinions that contradict their preferred narrative. That&#8217;s why they&#8217;re thrilled with what&#8217;s happening in Brazil. 
It&#8217;s also why they have no problem with what the Biden administration is doing to Tusli Gabbard. Gabbard has emerged as one of the most effective critics of the modern Democrat Party. She has what no prominent Democrat has, which is integrity. She was on the fast-track to be a senior official in the Democrat Party, even serving as vice chair of the DNC. But she threw all of that away because she wanted to follow her principles — particularly concerning foreign affairs — instead of seeking power. So, Tulsi Gabbard can&#8217;t be controlled by party elites. What&#8217;s their solution? They put her on a terror watch list. Watch:

This should be leading every nightly newscast in the United States. There is no reason for a political figure like Tusli Gabbard to be placed on any kind of terror watch list, or to receive 30 minutes of extra screening every time she tries to fly. The only conceivable explanation is that this is a federal program intended to harass and intimidate her. She&#8217;s not following the party line, so this is what she gets.
But she&#8217;s able to speak freely about what&#8217;s happening to her on X, at least for now. That&#8217;s the platform where Tulsi Gabbard posted that video I just showed you. It&#8217;s where she — and many other political dissidents in many other countries — can speak their minds, for the most part. At the very least, it&#8217;s a freer platform than any of the alternatives. That&#8217;s why the government, in both this country and Brazil, wants to shut X down. It&#8217;s also why France is trying to shut Telegram down and jail its founder. We are in the middle of a historic war on the freedom of speech, in countries where it would&#8217;ve been unthinkable just a few years ago.

If they&#8217;re allowed to succeed in places like Brazil and France, it won&#8217;t be long until they try the same thing here. Our Constitution won&#8217;t protect us. Brazil and France have constitutions that supposedly protect the freedom of speech, and it&#8217;s not working out so well for them. The only solution is to do exactly what Elon Musk and Tusli Gabbard are doing, which is to respond to censorship and intimidation with more speech — call out what they&#8217;re doing. And in November, do everything you can to prevent these tyrants from seizing any more power than they already have.

Washington Post journalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-lorenz">Taylor Lorenz</a> shared some details about the &#8220;Hotties for Harris&#8221; party that took place at this week&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-national-convention">Democratic National Convention</a> in Chicago.
The Instagram account, @houseinhabit, which is run by Jessica Reed Kraus, shared a story featuring Lorenz talking about some of the surprising activities and party favors at the event. The post quickly started making the rounds on X as well.
“Taylor is filling us in on some of the DNC highlights since we haven’t been able to get into the convention,” the person recording says in the video. “And what did you get as a party favor?” she asked.

She described Rep. Alexandria Occasio-Cortez (D-NY) as having “charisma” while calling New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul a “void in the room.” 
Besides the tampons and Plan B, Planned Parenthood set up a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/planned-parenthood-bus-offering-free-abortions-vasectomies-outside-dnc">mobile clinic</a> a few blocks outside the DNC, providing free abortions and vasectomies.

The Washington Post&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-lorenz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor Lorenz</a> on Saturday sat down with the woman behind the popular &#8220;Libs of TikTok&#8221; X account, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-censorship-is-ramping-up-libs-of-tiktok-says-account-was-suspended-from-facebook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chaya Raichik</a>, for a videotaped interview, and made a stunning admission.
Lorenz, who doxxed and has routinely targeted Raichik, mostly for reposting videos that people on the Left post of themselves, admitted that she has not viewed some of the most sexually graphic material aimed at children that Raichik has posted about online. Still, Lorenz was ready to defend the sexual content and suggest Raichik is a hateful bigot for standing against its promotion in schools.
At one point in the interview, Lorenz says she &#8220;doesn&#8217;t know&#8221; about the content Raichik has posted on her feed and argued that any sexual education a &#8220;sex educator&#8221; deems necessary is good. In response, Raichik pulled up images of gay oral sex from controversial book &#8220;Gender Queer&#8221; to show Lorenz, who was left speechless for a moment, before defending the content.
Lorenz contended there was missing &#8220;context&#8221; to the images of oral sex and scolded Raichik for not trusting &#8220;sex educators.&#8221;
&#8220;So, should this picture of a b***job be in elementary schools?&#8221; Raichik asked.
&#8220;I&#8217;ve never seen a book like that in elementary schools, but &#8230; I have no idea the context,&#8221; Lorenz answered, adding, &#8220;I would defer that question to a qualified professional, a sex educator.&#8221;

During the interview, Lorenz wore a mask, though the pair were outside and it&#8217;s been years since the pandemic. Raichik was wearing sunglasses and a t-shirt of a photo of Lorenz  literally crying over internet harassment during an MSNBC appearance last year. Again, Lorenz doxxed Raichik.
In fact, Lorenz caught a suspension on X in December 2022 for doxxing.

A former New York Times journalist claimed Monday that the newspaper only allows its writers to express &#8220;right-wing opinions,&#8221; not Left-wing views, prompting raised eyebrows.
Taylor Lorenz, a tech reporter who now writes for The Washington Post, made the claim in a <a href="https://www.threads.net/@taylorlorenz/post/C0udsGiSPAx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">post</a> on Instagram&#8217;s Threads.
&#8220;Anyone who&#8217;s worked as a journalist at the NYT knows that journalists there are absolutely allowed to loudly espouse political opinions, you just have to espouse the *right* political opinions. Right wing opinions are fine, left wing opinions are not,&#8221; Lorenz wrote in her post.
She added, &#8220;For instance, at the NYT I wasn&#8217;t allowed to express the &#8216;opinion&#8217; that online harassment was a bad thing, in the midst of having my entire family harassed and doxxed. I also once had to delete a tweet where I said I don&#8217;t like living in America lol. But saying &#8216;wokes&#8217; are taking over campus is totally fine in their book.&#8221;
Lorenz&#8217;s post was met with amused and incredulous reactions on social media.
&#8220;The parody writes itself,&#8221; Elon Musk, owner of X, posted along with two laughing emojis, reacting to a post about Lorenz&#8217;s comments.

Back in May, the Times published a piece <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/16/style/polyamory-somerville.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advising</a> readers which U.S. cities grant more &#8220;rights&#8221; to people engaging in polyamory.
Lorenz herself frequently attracts criticism for her opinions and reporting <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taylor-lorenz-questions-libs-of-tiktok-about-fostering-violence-gets-mocked-in-reply" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tactics</a>.
Last year, Lorenz wrote a controversial article for the Post revealing the identity of Chaya Raichik, the woman behind the popular Libs of TikTok account on X. Initially, the story linked to Raichik’s real estate license, which showed her name, real estate license number, and possible physical address. The Post removed the link after being accused of doxxing Raichik.
Lorenz has also been a vocal critic of lifting pandemic restrictions such as mandatory face masks, <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/02/13/taylor-lorenz-in-twitter-feud-with-sopranos-meme-account/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> the lack of COVID rules places immunocompromised people like herself at risk. Twitter CEO Elon Musk suspended left-wing Washington Post reporter <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/straight-trash-twitter-explodes-as-washington-post-reveals-who-runs-libs-of-tiktok-account">Taylor Lorenz</a> on Saturday night after saying late last week that her &#8220;shameful behavior&#8221; would not be tolerated on the platform in the future.
Lorenz claimed in a blog post that she &#8220;received zero communication from the company on why I was suspended or what terms I violated.&#8221;
She suggested that she was suspended because she tweeted at Musk asking him for a comment on a story.
&#8220;Never once in my 13 year career in social media have I received a single terms of service or community guidelines violation, for my personal account or any account that I’ve run,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;Twitter has served as an essential real time news source and played a crucial role in the journalism world, but Musk’s arbitrary suspensions of journalists who report on him should worry anyone who values free speech and expression.&#8221;

At the conclusion of the video, a &#8220;reporter&#8221; seemingly appearing in a foreign country is actually just standing in front of a green screen — another obvious dig at the corporate media.
&#8220;Our goal was to highlight just how important the national media is in rallying support for foreign intervention and safety lockdowns,&#8221; Pool joked. &#8220;If it wasn&#8217;t for these great heroes of national media, we would have never liberated Iraq and Afghanistan and untold millions could have died without support for strict lockdowns.&#8221;
&#8220;Libya today is a shining example of the great work our national media does to ensure peace and prosperity around the world,&#8221; he added sarcastically. &#8220;If the fascists had their way, people would have visited their loved ones as they were dying in hospitals making the pandemic much, much worse.&#8221;

On Monday, Lorenz again questioned the woman behind the Libs of TikTok account on Twitter, asking her for comment on a colleague&#8217;s story.

Lorenz said her colleague was publishing a story on influencers who &#8220;spread narratives about election fraud in 2020.&#8221;
&#8220;You are not one of these influencers, but your account has received extensive promotion from them. We mention in the story that your account has helped to foster violence and that your posts led to death threats against medical providers at Boston Children’s Hospital, and a bomb threat caused the hospital to be evacuated. We also say you intend to continue to target hospitals. Do you have any comment?&#8221; Lorenz wrote.
Lorenz&#8217;s deadline for comment was less than five hours away at the time she messaged Libs of TikTok. She followed up again before the deadline.
&#8220;I’m sorry but I can’t date you. I’m straight,&#8221; the Libs of TikTok founder replied, adding in a tweet with screenshots of the exchange, &#8220;Why is she obsessed with me?&#8221;
&#8220;I think you accidentally replied to the wrong DM. This is Taylor Lorenz from the Washington Post and we’re asking you to reply to the question above,&#8221; Lorenz replied.

The hospital later said those employees were incorrect and it does not perform gender-affirming surgery on minors.
Police said a bomb threat called in to Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital after Libs of TikTok tweeted about the hospital&#8217;s gender program <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-boston-childrens-hospital-fake-bomb-threat-20220831-7bsd2qp36ngd3c7tolozsw6t6u-story.html">turned out</a> to be a hoax.
