Washington Post journalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-lorenz">Taylor Lorenz</a> shared some details about the &#8220;Hotties for Harris&#8221; party that took place at this week&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-national-convention">Democratic National Convention</a> in Chicago.
The Instagram account, @houseinhabit, which is run by Jessica Reed Kraus, shared a story featuring Lorenz talking about some of the surprising activities and party favors at the event. The post quickly started making the rounds on X as well.
“Taylor is filling us in on some of the DNC highlights since we haven’t been able to get into the convention,” the person recording says in the video. “And what did you get as a party favor?” she asked.

Lorenz replied, “So, well I was at the &#8216;Hotties for Harris&#8217; party last night, which was a party a bunch of people went to, and they had like all of these different sort of things. They had like mini golf where like, you put, you like, go mini golf through like, a ring of tampons and stuff.”
She continued, “And then I went through, then there was like a gumball machine, and I was like oh, let me turn the gumball machine, and you know maybe it’s like a ring or something, and um, it was, I have this,” Lorenz said, showing off her prize to the camera.
“It was Plan B,” she said, laughing about receiving the emergency contraceptive pill as a party favor. “It’s a Plan B pill,” she repeats before the video cuts to a photo of the gumball machine stocked with contraceptives.
Plan B, the brand name used for the drug, Levonorgestrel, &#8220;stops or delays the release of an egg from the ovary,&#8221; according to the <a href="https://www.fda.gov/drugs/postmarket-drug-safety-information-patients-and-providers/plan-b-one-step-15-mg-levonorgestrel-information">FDA</a>.

In another story shared on the same Instagram account, Lorenz mentioned that many attendees were wearing white on Thursday to represent their support for abortion access or, as she put it, “reproductive justice.”
She described Rep. Alexandria Occasio-Cortez (D-NY) as having “charisma” while calling New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul a “void in the room.” 
Besides the tampons and Plan B, Planned Parenthood set up a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/planned-parenthood-bus-offering-free-abortions-vasectomies-outside-dnc">mobile clinic</a> a few blocks outside the DNC, providing free abortions and vasectomies.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tampons">tampon</a> brand Tampax apologized over the weekend for sexualizing their product after receiving backlash online. 
“We messed up with our last tweet. We removed it and we apologize to everyone we offended. Respect is central to our brand values &#8211; our recent language did not reflect that.  We have learned from this, and we will do better,” the official account shared with more than 22,000 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/twitter">Twitter</a> followers.

They were reacting to a joke shared earlier in November that fans deemed “creepy,” especially since it had sexual undertones. 
“You’re in their DM’s. We’re in them. We are not the same,” the tweet read, seemingly referencing that tampons go inside women while simultaneously bragging to any men trying to hit on them.
Followers pointed out how teenagers or even younger girls used the brand’s products as well, which they claimed made the situation even more offensive.
The “we are not the same” line became popular online as a way of indicating a superior romantic or sexual relationship, which the brand was apparently trying to replicate. But their efforts weren’t well received by fans. The hashtag “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/boycott">BoycottTampax</a>” was trending for a while, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/boycott">reported</a>. 
“A women’s period products company is getting off on the idea of their products being inserted in girls and women – getting there first – while men are chatting them up hoping for sex. Overtones of rape, [pedophilia], misogyny – what a hat-trick,” one person fumed.
“So…A tampon is saying – to a dude framed as a sexual rival to the tampon – basically, ‘hey, bro. You’re too slow. I totally *hit* that already. How do you like THEM apples’ And this is supposed to appeal to your customers in some way?” another person agreed.
“No, it’s disgusting and creepy,” a third agreed.
The backlash became so extreme that Tampax backtracked, agreeing the tweet was inappropriate.
However, even the apology was not enough for some. The comments on Tampax’s retraction were still full of outrage over the situation.
&#8220;Women and girls want sanitary products they can trust, not wink, wink sexualization of a basic biological function. Leave us alone and go and &#8216;brand value&#8217; elsewhere,&#8221; one Twitter comment <a href="https://twitter.com/artefactoid/status/1595025724670353408">said</a>.

The feminine product brand <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tampons">Tampax</a> was trending on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/twitter">Twitter</a> Tuesday as some followers demanded a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/boycott">boycott</a>.
Tampax had already come under fire this year due to its leftist ideology and willingness to promote gender theory. This time, Tampax is taking heat for a strange and snarky tweet that some have interpreted as trolling men, though the intended audience is unclear.
“You’re in their DM’s. We’re in them. We are not the same,” the tweet read, seemingly referencing that tampons go inside women and are closer to those individuals than the men trying to hit on them.

Followers were outraged at this sentiment, which they claimed was “sexualizing” tampon usage.
“Peak patriarchy: a company making women&#8217;s products insults its entire customer base and thinks this is OK. You utter creeps,” one person <a href="https://twitter.com/NeedaGin/status/1595046216559398912">shared</a>.
“A women&#8217;s period products company is getting off on the idea of their products being inserted in girls and women &#8211; getting there first &#8211; while men are chatting them up hoping for sex. “No, it’s disgusting and creepy,” another reaction <a href="https://twitter.com/nosoup4knowles/status/1594871178078081025">read</a>. 
Many outraged users pointed out how girls as young as 11 were likely to use tampons, which they claimed made the sexual joke even more inappropriate. 
The social media fight evolved into some users accusing critics of being “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">transphobes</a>” for insisting on a boycott and taking offense to the joke. 
“Has anyone else noticed that the people screaming #BoycottTampax aren’t really upset about the joke? They’re actually a bunch of transphobic bigots attacking a company that showed support for a group of people they like to be cruel to,” one person <a href="https://twitter.com/Elepitts1997/status/1595101115074633728">wrote</a>. 
Another brought up the recent mass shooting inside a Colorado gay bar, saying anyone advocating for a Tampax boycott is also disrespecting the magnitude of that tragedy. 
“So much #TransHate in the #BoycottTampax trend,” that person shared. “And only two days after an [sic] horrific hate crime against the LGBTQ community. You all should be ashamed of your denial of human rights to individuals, many of them very young, trying to live safe live [sic].”
In September 2020, Tampax inspired controversy by posting a tweet that <a href="https://twitter.com/Tampax/status/1305952342504767491">said</a>, “Fact: Not all women have periods. Also a fact: Not all people with periods are women. Let&#8217;s celebrate the diversity of all people who bleed!&#8221;

Procter &amp; Gamble, noting the shortage of tampons nationwide, blames comedian Amy Schumer’s ad for their product&#8217;s rise in demand.
P&amp;G makes Tampax, the best-selling tampon brand in America. Schumer’s 2020 ad campaign featured her as a tampon supplier helping women get tampons.
“Retail sales growth has exploded” since the ad campaign, spokeswoman Cheri McMaster told <a href="https://time.com/6184644/tampon-shortage-supply-chain/">TIME</a>.
“P&amp;G said in its most recent earnings call that it was still having trouble sourcing raw materials for feminine care products, getting them to the places that need them, and getting products on trucks to retailers,” TIME added.
“To put it bluntly, tampons are next to impossible to find,” radio host  Michelle Wolfe stated. “I would say it’s been like this for a solid six months.”
“Amazon sellers were taking advantage of the shortage; in January, one box of 18 Tampax listed for $114, about six dollars more—per tampon—than women usually pay,” TIME stated.
Thyme Sullivan, the CEO and co-founder of The Organic Project, which makes tampons in Europe, said shipping tampons to the U.S. has become 300% more expensive since last year.
“Amazon is out of stock of nearly every brand and variety, especially the most popular brands,” <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-and-other-online-stores-have-run-out-of-tampons-2020-3">Business Insider</a> reported in March regarding the tampon shortage. “Depending on the product, Amazon is promising to deliver as soon as anywhere from 4 to 5 days from now to several weeks. Other items make no promises on the delivery date at all, but just say ‘currently unavailable.’”
“We have thousands of PG employees working around-the-clock to continue serving consumers, as many of our products play an important role in maintaining healthy habits and a healthy home environment, both critically important at this time,” a spokesperson for P &amp; G said in March. “We are maximizing production and distribution capacity where possible to ensure we can get products to as many consumers as quickly as possible. We are taking the right steps to safeguard our workplaces through appropriate social distancing and work-from-home protocols.”
Melissa Suk, vice president of North America Tampax and Always for P&amp;G, saw Schumer’s 2019 Netflix special and thought an ad campaign featuring Schumer would work, <a href="https://adage.com/article/cmo-strategy/tampax-gets-amy-schumer-pitch-tampons/2266201?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_term=ad+age&amp;utm_content=814c035f-1c4c-475e-8793-ef43b62b3191">Ad Age</a> reported.
“We really wanted to normalize things by making period and tampon conversations as normal as periods,” Suk said. “There’s a lot of taboo really preventing people from asking the right questions, and a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to education about both your body and your periods and how you use tampons. We knew the only way we were going to be successful at that was to use humor. Frankly, in our category, a lot of celebrities may not be interested in talking about tampons or periods.”
Schumer’s ad campaign, which educated women about the use of tampons and the various sizes available to them,  included titles such as “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BicWNagCwSQ">What’s Your Combo? Time To Tampax with Amy Schumer</a>,” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_NstgBFE2w">How to Insert a Tampon: Time To Tampax with Amy Schumer</a>,” and “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nGa7ywJexE">Let’s Talk About It: Time To Tampax with Amy Schumer</a>.”
The campaign was created by Publicis Groupe, MSL, and Schumer with the comedian’s comedy writing team and was directed by Kathy Fusco of Hungryman.
