The brand markets itself as &#8220;swimwear designed for every BODY!&#8221;</span></p>

<p>Twitter blew up on Wednesday after images surfaced online of Adidas using a male model to promote a new women&#8217;s swimsuit, with many blasting the move as &#8220;gross&#8221; and  &#8220;disgusting.&#8221;</p>
<p>It started after a social media influencer <a href="https://twitter.com/OliLondonTV/status/1658820339646734336?s=20">tweeted</a> two images of a man wearing the brand&#8217;s new women&#8217;s &#8220;Pride swimsuit&#8221; with a caption that read, &#8220;The new Adidas Women&#8217;s Swimwear Range modeled by…men.&#8221;</p>
<p>Libs Of TikTok <a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1658959146937376770?s=20">tweeted</a> a video of a man modeling the one-piece swimsuit, adding, &#8220;Biological male models women&#8217;s swimsuit in [adidas] new pride collection ad.&#8221;</p>
<p>Reading through the comments on both posts, users slammed the athletic brand for going &#8220;woke.&#8221;</p>

In which other instance do companies advertise to a demographic of ~1%? Women make up ~50% and we&#8217;re struggling lol! Make it make sense.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Ooh, how wonderful that they are showing how your pubic bulge can be so defined,&#8221; another account posted. &#8220;What a joke.&#8221;</p>
<p>Several social media users said as long as companies continue to embrace radical gender theory, they will stop being consumers.</p>

<p>The host of the Sirius XM &#8220;The Megyn Kelly Show&#8221; opened her podcast on Thursday with the news of Adidas, calling it &#8220;disgusting&#8221; and saying that &#8220;women do not have bulges in their bathing suit.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Now we gotta look at the bulge when we are just trying to get our bikinis,&#8221; Kelly told her audience. &#8220;Pardon me, but that&#8217;s disgusting and no one wants to look at it.&#8221;</p>

<p>The Women&#8217;s Swimwear Brand Seafolly recently announced Australian activist Deni Todorovič would be the brand&#8217;s first transgender ambassador, and the news was met with a mix of reactions, <a href="https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/fashion/celebrity/seafolly-announces-first-ever-trans-ambassador/news-story/2c899f392e75eb4f9b3bc8b28321e50b">News.com</a> AU reported.</p>
<p>Deni made the announcement on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CpWdWyBvJQD/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=8f15a507-6a7a-4d80-bd4d-bf52d388548a">Instagram</a>, writing &#8220;we made history! <p>The brand also posted the news, and the label was met with a host of comments — many from people who were upset about the use of a biological male as brand ambassador instead of a female, the outlet noted. The comments have since been turned off on the post.</p>
<p>Following a backlash against the brand, Seafolly released a statement against what it called &#8220;hateful language,&#8221; Sky News <a href="https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/some-women-do-have-penises-seafollys-new-nonbinary-ambassador-deni-todorovi-responds-to-online-backlash/news-story/43df5b03bc9820c22ac8d0ae50227429">noted</a>.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are here to celebrate the Australian beach lifestyle and inspire one another to feel confident at the beach,&#8221; Seafolly said in a statement.</p>
<p>&#8220;In this community, we do not tolerate abusive, offensive, hateful language, trolling, deliberate disruption of discussion, or spam,&#8221; the statement added. &#8220;Please be respectful of each other&#8217;s differences and remember to always be kind.&#8221;</p>
<p>Deni also released a statement that the activist wasn&#8217;t taking jobs from &#8220;biological women.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;First of all, I’m not a man pretending to be a woman, not even close,&#8221; the model wrote. &#8220;Second of all, I&#8217;m not trying to steal jobs from women, at all, there were many women involved in that campaign.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;There were also queer people involved in that campaign, like Thomas who designed (the swimsuit), like me who is non-binary,&#8221; the model added. &#8220;We miss out on jobs all the time, so let&#8217;s just have a bit of nuance before you f***ing troll me like this.&#8221;</p>
<p>The iconic Australian brand has been around since the 1970s with ambassadors such as Lara Bingle, Jesinta Franklin, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models, and Victoria&#8217;s Secret models.</p>

<p>Spain&#8217;s equality ministry has launched a new ad campaign in the name of diversity with the message that &#8220;all bodies are beach bodies.” The campaign includes photos of a topless woman after a mastectomy and more.</p>
<p>Minister of Social Rights Ione Belarra said that the idea behind the campaign is for women to stop worrying about how their bodies look, enjoy the summer, and hit the beach no matter what their size, the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62325030">BBC</a> reported in a piece published Wednesday.</p>
<p>&#8220;Summer is ours too,&#8221; the slogan on the campaign poster reads.</p>
<p>&#8220;All bodies are beach bodies,&#8221; Social Services Minister Ione Belarra <a href="https://twitter.com/ionebelarra/status/1552237445407576064">tweeted</a> in promotion of the campaign.</p>

<p>In the campaign, people can see illustrations of five women at the beach. One goes topless after having a mastectomy, several plus-size models wear bikinis, and another woman lies on a towel in a swimsuit.</p>
<p>The Spanish Women&#8217;s Institute, the organization behind the initiative, said the idea behind the campaign is to show the validity of all bodies, the BBC noted.</p>
<p>&#8220;Today we toast a summer for all, without stereotypes and aesthetic violence against our bodies,&#8221; the ad explained.</p>
<p>However, not everyone was impressed with the move, with many calling it absurd to assume that women need government permission to go to the beach. Junior equality minister Ángela Rodríguez Pam took to <a href="https://twitter.com/Pam_Angela_/status/1552270386125066240?s=20&amp;t=He0p99aXavcYnmvSqw2hVQ">Twitter</a> and wrote that &#8220;of course we go, but we&#8217;re assuming we&#8217;ll attract hatred for showing a body that isn&#8217;t standard,&#8221; the outlet noted.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson on Monday said he was leaving Twitter after receiving an “endless flood” of backlash inspired by a recent opinion he shared about a plus-sized model on the cover of the 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The endless flood of vicious insult is really not something that can be experienced anywhere else,” Peterson wrote. “I like to follow the people I know but I think the incentive structure of the platform makes it intrinsically and dangerously insane.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He continued in a follow-up, “So I told my staff to change my password, to keep me from temptation, and am departing once again. If I have something to say I&#8217;ll write an article or make a video. If the issue is not important enough to justify that then perhaps it would be best to just let it go.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In his following tweet, Peterson wrote, “And I plan to write an article on the technical reasons that Twitter is maddening us all very soon. Bye for now.”</span></p>
<p>There were several tweets and other interactions following this public departure, however, making some fans question whether Peterson was really exiting the social media platform.</p>
<p>Peterson <a href="https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson/status/1526388875496759296">said</a> he had &#8220;recently stopped accessing Twitter for three weeks as an experiment&#8221; and had staffers post content in his absence, which might explain why his account was still active.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 59-year-old author went viral for posting his thoughts on a newly released Sports Illustrated cover featuring a plus-sized model.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Sorry. Not beautiful. And no amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that,” Peterson wrote in response to a New York Post headline about Yumi Nu, who was announced as a cover model for the 2022 SI Swimsuit Issue.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Twitter was swift and brutal, denouncing Peterson’s reaction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“&#8217;Authoritarian’? Chunky women on magazine covers? You sound like a parody of you,” one Twitter user said in response. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Peterson clarified his position, saying, “It’s a conscious progressive attempt to manipulate &amp; retool the notion of beauty, reliant on the idiot philosophy that such preferences are learned &amp; properly changed by those who know better … but don’t let the facts stop you.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote To Chaos” author also shared links to studies that supported the claim that beauty was quantifiable and could be linked to rates of reproduction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Standards of beauty change over time. Plus you posted two studies that don’t substantiate your point,” one commenter wrote back. The psychologist’s Twitter feed was flooded with hate and vitriol after he criticized the image.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Peterson also </span><a href="https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson/status/1526388875496759296"><span style="font-weight: 400;">discussed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> how he felt “genuine relief” after taking a three week Twitter hiatus even before this current controversy. “I started using it again, a few days ago, and I would say that my life got worse again almost instantly,” the professor emeritus explained.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When asked why he used the social media platform at all, Peterson said he’d felt a “moral obligation” to stay on. <p>The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue got everyone&#8217;s attention Monday when it finally released images of the magazine&#8217;s multiple 2022 covers, and Kim Kardashian has landed on one of them.</p>
<p>In a post shared on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CdnmhpHLibo/">Instagram</a>, Sports Illustrated shared four silhouette cover shots of its annual swimsuit edition and then revealed in a second post that one of those models is the 41-year-old reality star.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CdoC_fdOdO-/">caption</a> next to the post read, &#8220;KIM. KARDASHIAN. Yes, you read that correctly. Mogul, sister, friend and damn good mom – #KimKardashian is here to break the internet (again!).&#8221;</p>

Their covers can be seen by clicking the links of their names.</p>
<p>&#8220;The journey we&#8217;ve been on — to break out of the mold the world put us in — may sound familiar. It&#8217;s certainly familiar to the women we&#8217;ve chosen to be our cover models: Maye, Ciara, Yumi, Kim,&#8221; MJ Day, editor in chief of the SI Swimsuit Issue, shared in a statement to <a href="https://people.com/style/kim-kardashian-sports-illustrated-swimsuit-2022-emotional-letter-younger-self/">People magazine</a>. &#8220;At course, Kim, no stranger to the world&#8217;s judgment, continues to live proudly, authentically and unapologetically through the noise.&#8221;</p>

<p>Sports Illustrated (SI) has found a way to advance their new agenda even further, trumpeting the new cover model for their swimsuit issue because she shows the c-section scar just above her pelvic area.</p>
<p>On Wednesday, SI chortled, “We are proud to partner with @fridamom to celebrate all moms who bare C-Section scars by featuring @kellyhues in #SISwim22- the FIRST woman to expose her C-Section scar in magazine’s history!”</p>
<p>“I am speechless and so honored to be in @si_swimsuit2022 as the FIRST woman to expose her c-section scar in magazines history!” cover model Kelly Hughes wrote on Instagram, “This partnership with @fridamom #paywithchange partnership to normalize and embrace the changes with a woman’s body especially when becoming a mom is so amazing to be a part of.”</p>
<p>“I struggled with insecurities from my scar being that I’m a model and my incredibly difficult recovery but it wasn’t until I ‘embraced my scar that I experienced the true power in it,’” she added.</p>

<p>Frida Mom posted the photo of Hughes on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cda7blJLt98/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=69c0c211-da4e-4ddf-a5d7-5fea2bfb251b">Instagram</a>, adding, “We’ve partnered with @si_swimsuit to feature a model showing her C-Section Scar &#8211; for the first. time. ever. To @kellyhues &amp; all the C-Section moms, wear that scar with pride. It’s proof you’re strong as a mother.”</p>
<p>The featuring of a model baring a c-section scar fits with the trends of the body positivity movement. For example, in 2018, morbidly obese model Tess Holliday was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cosmo-covergirl-morbidly-obese-body-acceptance-amanda-prestigiacomo">featured</a> on the cover of Cosmopolitan U.K., and in 2021, the magazine published an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/covid-19-proves-the-danger-of-the-body-positive-celebration-of-obesity">article</a>, titled “11 women who prove wellness isn’t ‘one size fits all.’” The cover promoted an overweight woman with the caption, “This is healthy!”</p>
<p>In January, SI announced their swimsuit issue would only accept advertising from brands for the swimsuit issue “who are helping drive gender equality forward.”</p>
<p>“All brands who prove they are creating change for women will be certified as a Changemaker, which is defined as a brand who has made, is making and will make progress for women by May 2022 when the annual SI Swimsuit Issue hits stands,” Sports Illustrated boasted, as reported by Outkick.</p>
<p>Brands would be “vetted on a case-by-case basis by the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit team. The bottom line is that they need to show they are making change for women,” a public relations exec who worked with SI told <a href="https://www.marketingbrew.com/stories/2022/01/21/sports-illustrated-is-only-letting-brands-that-drive-gender-equality-forward-advertise-in-its-swimsuit-issue">Marketing Brew</a>.</p>
<p>Hillary Drezner, general manager at Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, <a href="https://adage.com/article/media/sports-illustrated-swimsuit-wants-gender-equity-ads-brands/2394276">said</a> this “might take the form of an internal commitment to pay equity for female employees or an external commitment to challenging the status quo of what it means to be a woman by representing a more diverse range of women in marketing and advertising initiatives.”</p>
