<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even if you&#8217;ve never seen &#8220;The Boys,&#8221; you’ve probably come across the face of Anthony Starr as Homelander, an evil parody of Superman.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> He gave us one last meme this past week as Amazon’s superhero series reached its conclusion after five seasons. In the climactic confrontation between the antihero Billy Butcher and Homelander, Homelander is stripped of his powers, exposed as a fraud on live television, and forced to grovel on his knees for his life — a plea that is not granted.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After his gruesome demise, is righteous order restored to the land? No. In a subsequent scene, the antihero Billy Butcher is murdered by another cynical comrade who once fought side by side with Billy in their rebellion. Fans of the show complained about its unsatisfactory ending, but this sense of emptiness and the nagging feeling of despair that linger even after the story has ended are actually the most appropriate feelings for the postmodern ideology on which this series was built.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;The Boys&#8221;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is a textbook “deconstruct the superhero myth” trope, and it is far from being new or edgy. Arguably, the original and greatest of superhero-deconstruction stories was Alan Moore’s &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Watchmen&#8221;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> comic book series, which debuted in 1986. In that same year, Frank Miller’s &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Dark Knight Returns&#8221;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> portrayed Superman as a dopey stooge for an evil President Ronald Reagan. The original source material for &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Boys&#8221;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> series was a comic book series that debuted in 2006.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">All of these stories are motivated by the same core ethos of postmodern thought: the suspicion of power. Power corrupts, institutions lie, and every grand story you’ve been told about what’s “good and evil” is just propaganda written by the “oppressor” — this has been the “anti-story” of pop-culture postmodernism over the past 40 years. In this anti-story, there are no true virtuous heroes. The new “hero” is the anti-hero who exposes the lies, rages against the machine, and takes down the powerful.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The pitch is seductive because it isn&#8217;t entirely wrong. Power </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">can, </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">and often does, corrupt. Institutions regularly betray our trust. The heroes you once thought were Superman — whether it was a teacher, parent, pastor, or politician — can have moral failures. There really are Homelanders out there.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But here&#8217;s where &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Boys,&#8221; </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">and the worldview it dramatizes, runs out of road.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What do you do after you expose Homelander? Now what? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Who leads the rebuilding efforts after the ruin? Who flies into the burning building tomorrow? Who do the kids on the playground want to be when they grow up? The show has no answer because the worldview underneath it has no answer. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Long before postmodernism moved into the pop culture mainstream, C.S. Lewis understood that the ideologies of deconstruction — whether Marxist, postmodern, or what many might call “wokism” today — ultimately fail. Lewis argued that we can only know a crooked line because we’ve seen a straight line, and being stuck trying to “see through” everything forever without ever </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">seeing to</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> something better was only a form of blindness. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Deconstruction, treated as the only noble act, can never have a satisfactory ending. Why? Because it only knows that it should be against something; it is always in rebellion, always trying to expose and tear down. If you believe hierarchies are inherently oppressive, your rebellion never ends. There can never be an end like J.R.R. Tolkien’s &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Return of the King</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">,&#8221; where a just and righteous king restores order to the land. You never get that original &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Star Wars&#8221; </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">trilogy moment when darkness is dispelled and the light redeems a fallen republic. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The award-winning writer David Foster Wallace was well acquainted with the “patricidal” nature of the postmodern anti-story. He called living in this state of perpetual cynicism and deconstruction being stuck as a “third-world rebel.” The “third-world rebel” is permanently in opposition, permanently tearing down, and permanently incapable of building.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’ve been stuck in this cultural anti-story for 40 years, and it is why so many people in our cultural moment feel exhausted without being able to name why. They&#8217;ve been handed an anti-story to live in that has only a critical mode. It can spot the lie in every institution, the power play behind every story, the manipulation in every appeal to virtue — and then it stands there in the rubble with nothing to offer. No next steps to a positive reconstruction. No vision of the good worth aspiring toward.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The good news is that something has begun to shift in our culture. People are tired of the endless cynicism and the perpetual rebellion sold to them as “progress.” Hopefully, &#8220;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Boys&#8221;</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> finale is the last we see of the “deconstruct the superhero myth” genre for a long time. We’re ready for positive reconstruction and cultural renewal. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But to get there, we have to be willing to take the risk of hope and faith again. We need to recover and retell stories of virtuous heroes, sacrificial saviors, and ordinary men and women who walk the path of light. We need more than just a Homelander to rail against; we need a Superman to aspire to.</span></p>

<p>Phillip began a roundtable discussion with a reference to Trump&#8217;s decision to invoke Section 740 of the Home Rule Act and deploy federal resources in Washington, D.C., in an effort to tackle the rampant violent crime that has been plaguing the city and putting residents and visitors at risk.</p>

CNN Slaps Trump With New Nickname, Accidentally Makes Him Sound Cooler

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Director James Gunn has confirmed that the new “Superman” movie is intended to be a political film.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I mean, ‘Superman’ is the story of America,” Gunn </span><a href="https://www.thetimes.com/culture/film/article/james-gunn-interview-superman-film-2025-david-corenswet-dhb3bw3rp"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in an interview with The Times of London published on Friday. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The DC Studios co-chair acknowledged that both sides of the political spectrum will interpret the themes differently, depending on their individual beliefs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Yes, it plays differently, but it’s about human kindness and obviously there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness. But screw them,” Gunn continued.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Yes, it’s about politics,” Gunn said. “But on another level it’s about morality. Do you never kill no matter what — which is what Superman believes — or do you have some balance, as Lois [Lane] believes? It’s really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“This Superman does seem to come at a particular time when people are feeling a loss of hope in other people’s goodness,” he went on. “I’m telling a story about a guy who is uniquely good, and that feels needed now because there is a meanness that has emerged due to cultural figures being mean online.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The entertainment exec added, “And I include myself in this. It is ad infinitum, millions of people having tantrums online. How are we supposed to get anywhere as a culture? We don’t know what’s real, and that is a really difficult place for the human brain to be. If I could press a button to make the internet disappear I’d consider it. And, no, I don’t make films to change the world, but if a few people could be just a bit nicer after, this it would make me happy.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The DC Studios head has been a critic of President Trump in the past. In 2017, he called Trump “an incompetent President forging a full-blown attack on facts and journalism in the style of Hitler and Putin.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He also caught heat for making an inappropriate joke about Trump on X, saying an interview for any potential employee would include the questions, “‘Do you know anything about the position?’ and ‘Are you on my d***?’ The person that answers ‘no’ and ‘yes,’ respectively, gets hired.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gunn was previously fired from Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise when inappropriate tweets he made about 9/11, rape, and pedophilia surfaced. The director was reinstated a year later</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> after making a public apology and attending multiple meetings regarding the incident</span>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative,” Gunn said at the time. “I have regretted them for many years since – not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don’t reflect the person I am today or have been for some time.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The highly anticipated “Superman” movie premieres on July 11, starring David Corenswet in the titular role.</span></p>

<p>The stars of one of the next films in Disney&#8217;s Marvel Cinematic Universe — &#8220;The Fantastic Four: First Steps&#8221; — made it clear in a recent interview that their plan is to effectively &#8220;Snow White&#8221; the franchise.</p>
<p>Despite Disney&#8217;s spectacular crash-and-burn with the Rachel Zegler-led live-action &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snow-white-bombs-with-one-of-disneys-lowest-opening-weekends-for-a-remake" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Snow White</a>&#8221; — which struggled under the weight of Zegler&#8217;s woke commentary and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snow-white-producers-son-destroys-rachel-zegler-amid-films-box-office-struggles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anti-Semitic social media posts</a> in addition to the widely-panned decision to use CGI rather than live <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/total-travesty-dwarfs-to-protest-snow-white-after-cgi-used-instead-of-actors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dwarf actors</a> — the cast of &#8220;First Steps&#8221; appears ready to deliver a similar offering when the film is released in late July.</p>
<p>In a recent interview for <a href="https://ew.com/the-fantastic-four-first-steps-mcu-plot-character-details-cover-story-11712063?taid=67f7ebcc645bb3000131484d&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+New+Content+%28Feed%29&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Weekly</a>, Jessica Kirby (who plays Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman) explained how she planned to reinterpret her character despite the fact that the film is set in the 1960s in a parallel world within Marvel&#8217;s multiverse.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you played an exact &#8217;60s Sue today, everyone would think she was a bit of a doormat. So figuring out how to capture the essence of what she represented to each generation, where the gender politics were different, and embody that today, was one of the greatest joys of this,&#8221; Kirby began. &#8220;Matt and I were really aware that there hasn&#8217;t really been a mother with a baby in these superhero archetypes women have been getting. One of the things I love most from Sue&#8217;s history is when she becomes Malice, and all her dark stuff comes out. I was obsessed with that chapter of her life. So I wanted to make sure that there were tones of Malice in there with her, that she wasn&#8217;t just the stereotype of a goody, sweet mother.&#8221;</p>
<p id="mntl-sc-block_117-0" class="comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html">&#8220;I&#8217;ve always been really interested in the mess of femininity, and how can you be both? How can you be all the things? Not just the tough, invincible, powerful woman, but also a mother who gives birth, which is itself a superhero act. I love that these characters are real humans in a messy family who argue and try to work it out and get things wrong,&#8221; Kirby continued.</p>
<p>Joseph Quinn took on the role of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, and he described how cultural changes had led them to move away from previous portrayals that cast Johnny as an immature hothead and a bit of a player.</p>
<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s a man that leads with a lot of bravado, which can be an affront sometimes. But also he&#8217;s funny,&#8221; Quinn explained. &#8220;Myself and [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin [Feige] were speaking about previous iterations of him and where we are culturally. He was branded as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy, but is that sexy these days? I don&#8217;t think so. This version of Johnny is less callous with other people&#8217;s feelings, and hopefully there&#8217;s a self-awareness about what&#8217;s driving that attention-seeking behavior.&#8221;</p>
<p>The foursome — which also includes Pedro Pascal&#8217;s Mr. Fantastic and Ebon Moss-Bacharach&#8217;s Thing — are expected to reprise their roles in 2026&#8217;s &#8220;Avengers: Doomsday.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Avengers are assembling for a new installment, and it looks like just about everyone is invited to the upcoming MCU movie, “Avengers: Doomsday.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Marvel Studios revealed key figures during a five-hour livestream this week. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”), Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”), Anthony Mackie (“Captain America”), Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”), Letitia Wright (“Black Panther”), Simu Liu (“Shang-Chi”), Danny Ramirez (“The Falcon”) and Winston Duke (“M’Baku”), per </span><a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/avengers-doomsday-cast-announced-1236172556/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Hollywood Reporter</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Other names include Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Tenoch Huerta, Sebastian Stan, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Florence Pugh. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Robert Downey Jr. will also be returning, as was previously announced.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Some key actors missing from the new film include Tom Holland (“Spider-Man”) and Chris Evans (“Captain America”), though Evans is expected to participate in the sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Marvel first announced the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” at San Diego Comic-Con in July. During that announcement, they revealed that Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers, who both left the MCU after “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), would be returning for this project. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Doomsday” has a scheduled release date of May 2026, while the second part is slated for May 2027.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Russo brothers recently spoke with THR about how they cast for movies and keep all the characters straight, which they said involves using baseball cards to keep it all organized.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Now they have magnets on them so we can put ‘em on a board and look at ‘em. It’s the only way to keep track of the amount of characters that we’re working with,” Joe Russo </span><a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/avengers-doomsday-directors-1236161664/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">told</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the outlet. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anthony Russo chimed in, saying, “And as far as how do we look at who’s in the movies, it’s just a long creative process of exploring where we want to take the story. What is the most surprising and exciting area for us to push into, and which characters help us in that effort?”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The directors also discussed their strategy for avoiding spoilers. “We’re pretty good about shutting that down,” Joe told </span><a href="https://collider.com/avengers-doomsday-secret-wars-runtime-russo-brothers/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Collider</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in an interview with Anthony. “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that,” he added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That’s why the Russo Brothers prefer filming on soundstages. Joe said, “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind as well,” Anthony agreed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The studio is hoping to have another major blockbuster on its hands after the success of “Avengers: Endgame,” which earned a record-breaking $2.7 billion worldwide.</span></p>

<p>Marvel actor Anthony Mackie said during a recent appearance that he did not believe that &#8220;the term America&#8221; was one of the things that was represented in the superhero Captain America.</p>
<p>Mackie, whose Sam Wilson character steps into the role of the titular hero in &#8220;Captain America: Brave New World,&#8221; made the comments while doing press for the latest Disney/Marvel venture in Rome. The role was previously played by actor Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.</p>

<p>&#8220;When you look out your door and you see a five-year-old with a stick and he&#8217;s slaying dragons to save the princess in the tower, that kid really believes there are dragons out there, that stick is really a sword, and he&#8217;s really trying to save that princess,&#8221; Mackie continued. &#8220;Then one day, somebody told him no. There are no dragons, that&#8217;s not a sword, and that princess is not there. And all of his little dreams were dashed.&#8221;</p>
<p>While many agreed with at least the second half of Mackie&#8217;s statement, they were unimpressed with the lead-off.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It felt harsh, and it bothers me, especially from heroes. It was an eye-roll for me, people bashing the superhero space,” the 40-year-old “Thor” actor said during a recently published </span><a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/chris-hemsworth-alzheimers-interview-mad-max-gw7kb8tvs"><span style="font-weight: 400;">interview</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with U.K.-based outlet The Times.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hemsworth went on to point out how even industry greats have failures. “Those guys had films that didn’t work too — we all have. When they talked about what was wrong with superheroes, I thought, cool, tell that to the billions who watch them. Were they all wrong?” he added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media. Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition, and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation,” Hemsworth said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Scorsese authored an op-ed published in the New York Times in 2019 titled “Martin Scorsese: I Said </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marvel"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Marvel</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Movies Aren’t Cinema. Let Me Explain.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“There’s worldwide audiovisual entertainment, and there’s cinema,” the “Goodfellas” director </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/martin-scorsese-shreds-marvel-movies-says-theyre-not-cinema"><span style="font-weight: 400;">wrote</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in the piece. “They still overlap from time to time, but that’s becoming increasingly rare. And I fear that the financial dominance of one is being used to marginalize and even belittle the existence of the other.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He added, “For anyone who dreams of making movies or who is just starting out, the situation at this moment is brutal and inhospitable to art. And the act of simply writing those words fills me with terrible sadness.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Coppola, director of “The Godfather,” agreed with that assessment. He sparked controversy in October 2019 when he </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/francis-ford-coppola-backs-scorsese-marvel-movies-are-despicable"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, “When Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he’s right, because we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration. I don’t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it’s not cinema. He didn’t say it’s despicable, which I just say it is.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hemsworth also told The Times he’s unhappy with actors who blame the genre for their failures.</span></p>

One of the older actors on ‘Home and Away’ said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.’ That stuck with me.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He continued, “But hey, it’s all a lesson. And if I ever went back to [‘Thor’] I’d wonder how we could change it again. But there is a superhero curse in the sense you get pigeonholed, and I’ve felt a little hamstrung with what I could do, so [I] desperately wanted something to scare the s*** out of me. And ‘Furiosa’ did.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I think there was something unique about this character, and something grounded,” Taylor-Johnson said when discussing accepting the role. “We’ve all had enough of seeing certain studio films, a certain kind of pop culture… where they’re churning out stuff that dilutes wanting to go to the cinema. I wouldn’t have signed onto it if I felt there wasn’t something to really bring to life with this character.”  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Taking on a Sony/Marvel movie is a different challenge altogether,” he added at another point in the interview. “There’s the story, the character, the role; that’s one thing. But then you also step into a world where you’re dealing with a studio and a franchise — or possible franchises, though let’s not get ahead of ourselves.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The actor went on, &#8220;So, they’re rolling the dice on me, in a sense, which is a lovely thing. But you’ve got to appease the studio, please the audience and do what’s dignified for you as an actor. I find all of that super challenging.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Besides working with Marvel, Taylor-Johnson is rumored to be replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond. When the interviewee inquired about it, the British actor said, “I can only really talk about the things I’m going to show and tell. I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like: whatever’s drawn out for me, I can f***in’ do better.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Taylor-Johnson will be featured in several upcoming films in 2024 in addition to “Kraven,” including a supporting role in “The Fall Guy” and an ensemble role in “Nosferatu.” </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It was a joke, but on Spider-Man, they would call me &#8216;girly-girl&#8217; sometimes on the walkie-talkie. &#8216;We need girly-girl&#8217;” she mimicked. &#8220;But I never said anything &#8230; like, don’t call me that.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;You didn&#8217;t say anything. You just took it,&#8221; Dunst said of being on set in the pre-MeToo era. Marvel’s “Spider-Man” starring Tobey Maguire and featuring Dunst as Mary Jane premiered in 2002.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Despite her negative experience, the 41-year-old actress said she’d be open to another superhero movie &#8220;because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“There’s definitely less good roles for women my age,” the actress said, mentioning how “every role I was being offered was the sad mom” after being nominated for her first Oscar for “The Power of the Dog” in 2022.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“That’s why I did ‘Civil War.’ When I read the script, I thought, ‘I’ve never done anything like this,&#8217;” Dunst added.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dunst’s comments about being willing to consider superhero movies come as the genre suffered several recent high-profile box office flops, including “Madame Web” starring Dakota Johnson, “The Marvels,” “Aquaman 2,” and “The Flash.” </span></p>
<p>In response, some studios,<span style="font-weight: 400;"> including Disney, have rescheduled some of their upcoming projects. While some of the bad numbers are being blamed on residual effects of the pandemic and the Hollywood strikes last year, many industry insiders have dubbed the phenomenon “superhero fatigue” as audiences become sick of seeing the same type of content over and over.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It’s an interesting moment where everybody has to go like, ‘OK – what now?’ Hopefully from that, somebody either breathes new life into [comic book movies], or something else blossoms which is not superheroes,” Dano told The Independent during an interview published Friday. “I’m sure there will still be some good ones yet to come, but I think it’s kind of a welcome moment.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It’s a larger thing, too,” he continued. “As soon as the word ‘content’ came into what we do – meaning making movies or TV – it meant quantity over quality, which I think was a big misstep. And I certainly don’t need that as a viewer or as an artist.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dano went on to speculate why “The Batman” succeeded where so many others had failed. “There are enough comic book movies where you just know what you’re gonna get,” the actor said. “Reading the script for &#8216;The Batman,&#8217; you knew it was a real film. Every sentence… that’s just [writer/director] Matt Reeves.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A sequel to The Batman is slated to be released on October 3, 2025. Dano is currently promoting his newest film, “Spaceman,” a sci-fi movie starring Adam Sandler about an astronaut sent on a mission to the edge of the solar system while encountering a giant spider-like creature who will help him solve his problems.</span></p>

In November, the newest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) installment, “The Marvels,” had the lowest opening weekend in the franchise’s history with just $47 million.</span></p>

<p>The &#8220;Hawkeye&#8221; actor offered his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-video-shows-first-responders-who-rescued-jeremy-renners-life-after-snowplow-accident" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gratitude</a> in a post he shared via Instagram on Friday, saying, &#8220;Rollin through Reno, NV with joy, blessings, and [pizza]!!!! <p>He shared the message along with a photo of himself, riding in the passenger seat of what appeared to be a fire truck. A sign on the truck&#8217;s door touted the &#8220;<a href="https://www.rennervationfoundation.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rennervation Foundation</a>&#8221; — <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jeremy-renners-mom-wants-to-burn-the-snow-plow-that-nearly-killed-him-he-says-no-way" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Renner&#8217;s</a> charitable organization geared toward providing &#8220;solid and compassionate support to vulnerable children, offering them a safe haven and targeted programs to develop their skills, confidence, and opportunities.&#8221;</p>
<p>Since the accident — which occurred when the snow-cat he&#8217;d been driving rolled over him — the actor has often shared updates documenting his recovery and offering encouragement to others who may also be struggling.</p>
<p>His first post came within days of the accident — when he was still &#8220;too messed up to type&#8221; but wanted his fans to know he was grateful for their prayers and well-wishes.</p>

<p>By early September, despite breaking 30 bones and suffering a collapsed lung, Renner was back on the leg-extension machine.</p>
<p>&#8220;Positive daily routines have been a solid foundation in my recovery. Build your mind, the body will follow. I make sure I get leg movements and stretches everyday … &#8216;oil&#8217; up inside my metal/joints with movement … push out scar tissue, strengthen muscle, tendons to have more joint support,&#8221; Renner captioned the video.</p>
<p>&#8220;If you’re struggling, just know your attitude will dictate every waking moment moving forward …. Let go of the past, and move with positive intention and you will be provided. I promise.&#8221;</p>

<p>Just two months later — 10 months into his recovery — the actor was skipping and galloping down his driveway, a move that he said inspired &#8220;tears of joy&#8221; when he realized that he could do it.</p>
