From claiming she sent her children to a racist private school to claiming she was the lone holdout in a high-profile murder trial who swayed all the others, the tall tales pumped out by “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin this week aimed to make her the heroine in her purported Marvel movie of a life. But when you scratch the surface, it’s obvious it was all attention-seeking behavior.
Spurred on by recent commentary from New York Times history revisionist Nikole Hannah-Jones, who expressed regret for not sending her daughter to a private school, Hostin insisted that her son Gabriel and daughter Paloma were allegedly racially tormented at the private school she sent them to.
<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/22/views-sunny-hostin-claims-she-sent-her-kids-racist-private">According to Hostin</a>, they experienced “psychological trauma” and “racism” at the hands of the students of the “predominantly white private school” they went to. “My daughter wears a big afro; kids were trying to stick pencils in her hair. Men — boys were calling her &#8216;butter face,&#8217; meaning she looked good, but her face, and she is a beautiful girl,” she lamented.
She even seemed to suggest the racial makeup of the school made it hard for her kids: “My kids struggled in a predominantly white environment, but they did not struggle academically.”

The obvious question is: why would she continue to send her kids to a school that was supposedly racist and making their lives miserable?
On <a href="https://www.ecfs.org/">their website</a>, Ethical Culture Fieldston School boasted of its “progressive education” for students. “The exploration of being an ethical and responsible member of society forms the core of our curriculum and community,” they write. “We value inclusion and belonging, honoring all students for their unique contributions, cultural backgrounds, and beliefs.”
Hostin came under enormous scrutiny this week after<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/22/sunny-hostin-brags-she-was-holdout-juror-who-kept-killer-out"> she cast herself as the lone holdout</a> in the high-profile murder trial of Daniel Rakowitz, a.k.a. The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park.
According to her, she was the hero, the only one thinking sensibly, and she was slowly able to sway every single one of them to see it from her point of view, in the style of “12 Angry Men.”
“And we were sequestered for nine days; one juror threw a chair at me. They were so angry with me and one by one I picked them off and said ‘what about this, what about that,’ and we ended up, all 12 unanimously voting that he was not criminally responsible by reason [of insanity],” she claimed.

Muddled by varying contemporaneous reports from different outlets at the time, the truth wasn’t so cut and dry.
A <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/24/sunny-hostin-lying-about-being-holdout-juror-truth-may">NewsBusters investigation</a> using LexisNexis found multiple reports that the lone holdout was an unnamed “unemployed man” who wanted to drag out the deliberations as long as possible to collect the $15-per-day payout.
However, a Newsday article reported that there were two holdout jurors who argued to the rest that Rakowitz was mentally ill. Through juxtaposition, the publication seemed to describe Hostin as one of them.
The jurors said that one of the two panel members seeking the insanity acquittal wanted the deliberations to drag on for days. &#8220;He was unemployed and liked the $15 a day and the three free meals. He liked that we were arguing on and on,&#8221; said juror Valerie Holmes, a 35-year-old clerk.
&#8220;We had to compromise,&#8221; said Asuncion Cummings, a 22-year-old paralegal. &#8220;But it is obvious to me he butchered the body and he literally got away with murder. He attempted to commit the perfect crime.&#8221;
Beyond that quote, there was no other possible talk or description of the second holdout. Newsday was the only outlet to report two holdouts.
While Hostin’s quote seemed to suggest she thought he was guilty, the New York Times quoted her as saying “We don&#8217;t think he intended to kill her.”
Still, none of the articles discussed thrown chairs or Hostin methodically convincing anyone of anything.
Hostin has been unabashed in making up stories about her role in formal proceedings. NewsBusters conducted an investigation after <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2023/10/05/he-terrorized-me-sunny-hostin-claims-jim-jordan-terrorist">she once claimed</a> on the show that Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) “terrorized me” in a congressional hearing. Upon reviewing the hearing footage, <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/tim-graham/2023/10/09/fact-check-jim-jordan-did-not-terrorize-sunny-hostin-2019-house">we found</a> that while Hostin was one of the panelists, Jordan never addressed her.
What is clear is that Hostin has a strong desire to be the center of attention and be praised, but she bet wrong that these claims would pay dividends.

So, Sunny Hostin cannibalized the truth — no surprise to anybody who has watched the misinformation campaign that passes for discourse on the ABC coffee klatch, “The View.” The shock is that this time Hostin, one of the show’s co-hosts, didn’t misremember anything said or done by President Donald Trump, a favorite target.
The person whose actions Hostin lied about this week were her own. Kudos to the New York Post for exposing the truth about the claims she made on Tuesday’s show that she was the lone holdout juror in an infamous 1991 New York City trial of a man, Daniel Rakowitz, accused of murdering his girlfriend, then dismembering and eating parts of her body — and boiling the rest in a soup that he served to the homeless at a local park, hence his acquired moniker “Butcher of Tompkins Square Park.”

Hostin’s tumble into truthiness — the term coined by the late night host Stephen Colbert to describe facts rooted in “knowing with your heart” — calls to mind the hot water that <a href="https://archive.nytimes.com/well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/02/09/was-brian-williams-a-victim-of-false-memory/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-type="link" data-id="https://archive.nytimes.com/well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/02/09/was-brian-williams-a-victim-of-false-memory/">boiled NBC News anchor Brian Williams</a> in 2015, when it came out that he had been lying for years about riding in a helicopter that was shot down by enemy fire while on a 2003 reporting tour in Iraq.
Williams was in one of four U.S. Army aircraft forced to land that day to avoid enemy fire. That much was true. But another helicopter was the one actually hit. Williams, who later apologized and said he had no idea what caused him to conflate one helicopter with another, was suspended without pay for six months. He lost his anchor seat permanently when his NBC bosses decided to stick with his replacement, Lester Holt.
In levying the suspension, NBC officials explained that Williams had jeopardized the trust that its viewers placed in the newscast and that he had a responsibility to be truthful and to embody the news division’s high standards.
At the time, psychologists ascribed Williams’ lie to a phenomenon known as a “false memory,” which is a recollection of an event or detail that a person genuinely believes to be true but is actually a distortion of reality or a fabrication out of whole cloth. The phenomenon could also explain other misremembering like Hillary Rodham Clinton once claiming to have been under sniper fire in Bosnia and Mitt Romney remembering an event that occurred before he was born.
It speaks to the malleability of memory that our past can be reshaped in our own minds by the stories we tell ourselves. Similarly to Williams, Hostin was not making up the part about being on the jury. But what caused her to conflate one jury member with another? According to the New York Post, it was widely reported at the time — and confirmed by a law enforcement source this week — that the holdout juror was a man.
Will Hostin face the same discipline from her bosses that Williams accepted from his? And if she does, will she say it’s because of her sex or race as she does when alleging discriminatory behavior she has been made to endure? A recent case in point was when she asserted that she was a victim of Hollywood gatekeeping “around Black and Brown creative content” because the tawdry book trilogy she had written had not been made into a series or films.
This is the second time in a matter of months that Hostin, 57, has made headlines for behavior unbecoming of a network television talking head. Over the summer, she <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/sunny-hostin-plea-police-backfires-154500308.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/sunny-hostin-plea-police-backfires-154500308.html">unsuccessfully attempted</a> to prevent her 24-year-old son from receiving a trespassing citation.

Police bodycam footage showed officers approaching her son, Gabriel, on active Metro-North property in Westchester County, N.Y., and placing him in handcuffs while he spoke to his mother on the phone.
Hostin arrived on the scene by car and informed officers that she was one of the co-hosts of “The View” and also a former federal prosecutor and that her son, a Harvard graduate, is not someone who gets into trouble. She asked them not to issue a citation.
Never mind those police officers; how can ABC viewers believe a word Hostin says from here on out? Has she given her bosses cause to pull the plug on a show that has been on life support for a while? Stay tuned.

‘The View’ Co-Host Sunny Hostin Has Trouble Telling The Truth (Again); Will ABC Respond?

“The View” host Sunny Hostin bragged about how she was once a holdout juror and helped a cannibal avoid prison.
Hostin stunned other members of the panel when she admitted to being part of the reason “The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park” was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 1991. The discussion came up on Tuesday as the hosts discussed the Lindsay Clancy case.
“The insanity defense has been around in Massachusetts for 182 years, so I think it’s well-established. And I thought absolutely that she was not criminally responsible by reason of insanity,” she said of the Clancy trial, which ended in a mistrial earlier this month.
“And the reason I felt that — I feel so strongly about this holdout juror is because I was a holdout juror in a case; in the Daniel Rakowitz case. I don’t know if people remember it, The Butcher of Tompkins Square. It was in 1991 …” she said while trailing off.
“The guy who ate the victims?” fellow host Joy Behar asked.
“Yes,” Hostin confirmed, causing panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin to gasp. 
Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, went on to read from a New York Times article about Rakowitz being acquitted.
“Several jurors questioned afterwards said one holdout juror was principally responsible for preventing them from returning a guilty verdict,” Hostin read aloud from the article.
“That was me, and it was because I saw clearly that he was psychotic, he was in psychosis, he did not mean to kill her and once he killed her he panicked. He chopped up her body parts, yes, boiled her body parts, tried to commit the perfect crime and then …” she explained before Griffin cut her off.
“And you got this guy off?” Griffin asked in disbelief.
“That’s how much I believe in the insanity defense, and he fed her body parts to the unhoused,” she went on. 
“All that being said, it was so clear to me in the jury room. And we were sequestered for nine days, one juror threw a chair at me. They were so angry with me but one by one I picked them off and said, ‘What about this? What about that?’ and we ended up, all 12, unanimously voting that he was not criminally responsible by reason of insanity.”
“But he is still in a mental institution being treated,” Hostin added.
The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park case involved Daniel Rakowitz, a known drug dealer and eccentric who carried around a Bible and live rooster while making threats no one believed. He slaughtered his roommate Monika Beerle, a 26-year-old dance student, in 1989. He was accused of dismembering her body and boiling her head for soup, which he then said he served to the homeless.

Sunny Hostin Says She Kept Murderous Cannibal Out Of Prison As Holdout Juror

Sunny Hostin’s chronic desire to always be a victim of purported racism may have finally caught up with her and may land her in the defendant’s seat in a courtroom. Earlier this week, lawyers representing a group of white Mississippi teenagers sent “The View” co-host a letter threatening to sue her for defamation. The complaint stemmed from her on-air comments suggesting they were involved in a racist murder of their close black friend Nolan Wells, despite there being no evidence of foul play.
Hostin’s chronic grievance also led her to recently claim Hollywood was being racist against her by not turning her poorly written smut books into movies and TV shows.
The threat of a lawsuit stemmed from the July 14 episode of “The View,” where they discussed the Wells case when it was barely a week old.
Despite the lack of publicly available evidence, and local authorities also saying there was no evidence of foul play, <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/17/teenagers-threaten-sue-views-sunny-hostin-defamation">Hostin openly suggested</a> that it was more likely than not a racially motivated murder by Wells’ white friends:

HOSTIN: They turned off their social media accounts. They say that they have cooperated with the police, but they took his — they kept his phone and didn&#8217;t give it to his parents.

Of course, she took the word of Crump, the camera-chasing, race-baiting lawyer and friend. She has previously hyped Crump as America’s “black attorney general” on the show.
In their letter demanding Hostin retract and apologize for the aspersions she cast on their clients, the teens’ lawyers called out Hostin&#8217;s “brand of ‘journalism’” as “no Sunny Delight: rather, your ‘brand’ is toxic, moronic, and daft.”
“We now understand why, instead of seeking justice, you now work for ‘The View,’ a show that long betrayed any semblance of fairness, reason, or common sense,” they continued.
The allure of constantly being a victim is an enticing one for Hostin, and she’s made it a large part of her public persona. That’s even though <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2024/02/08/racial-revelations-hostins-family-owned-slaves-still-demands">she’s descended</a> from a long line of prolific slave owners. Slaves whose descendants <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/02/06/two-years-finding-her-roots-sunny-hostin-poor-reparations">she has made no effort </a>to pay reparations to (while demanding the United States pay her).
The virtue she sees in victimhood is what has led her to <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/14/sunny-hostin-claims-hollywood-racist-against-her-wont-adapt">claim Hollywood was being racist against her</a> and “gatekeeping” her smut books from being turned into features, thus leading her to partner with a production company that uses AI.
“I&#8217;ve written a trilogy, and for six years, I&#8217;ve tried to get my films or my stories made into series and films. And the gatekeeping in Hollywood around black and brown, creative content is insane,” she whined. “I cannot get New York Times best-selling books onto the screen to tell diverse stories to diverse communities.”
She defended the use of AI, and thus not giving black actors work, by ridiculously suggesting no black actor can find work in Hollywood. “[T]he real people are not getting jobs in Hollywood. Black and brown actors are not getting the jobs,” she lied.
In all likelihood, Hollywood is not interested in adapting her books because they’re terrible. Her books are on The New York Times best-seller list because she has a large, baked-in fan base from being a TV personality, which doesn’t always translate to a successful production.
Hostin’s inability to exhibit honest self-reflection and deep-seated need to be the victim, especially for racial grievances, may lead her to refuse the apology to the white teens. In such a case, discovery should be fun.

“The View” is thumbing its nose at the Federal Communications Commission amid the ongoing review of the show’s “bona fide news program” status. Sparked by the show’s inclusion of candidates as guests, the FCC is paying particular attention to how “The View” aims to influence elections, including<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/05/18/view-demands-votes-democrats-if-americans-want-end"> blatant efforts to electioneer</a> by explicitly telling people to “vote Democrats” into office. They kicked off Season 30 with more lies aimed at scaring people to the polls to vote against Republicans, while also lying about what the wave of Democratic Socialist nominees actually stood for.
In their very first episode of the season, moderator Whoopi Goldberg proclaimed that if Americans didn’t vote to “change” who was in power in the midterms, then everyone in the country would<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/08/view-vote-democratic-midterms-or-everyone-will-literally-die"> “literally” die</a> as a result:

As an extra incentive to vote for Democrats, Sunny Hostin suggested that losing control of Congress would give President Trump’s Cabinet the opening to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him from office:

Trying to scare Americans into voting against Republicans wasn’t enough. They also had to make sure they weren’t afraid to vote for the slate of Democratic Socialist extremists put up by their party. To that end, that was <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/09/10/view-hates-fettermans-gop-message-claims-dsa-only-about">Hostin and Goldberg’s effort</a> later in the week.
Following Senator John Fetterman’s (D-PA) message at the Republican midterm convention to stand against the far-Left of his party, Hostin was offended that he would “try to use the word &#8216;socialism&#8217; as a boogieman. He&#8217;s playing right into Republican hands.” “Communists. They call liberals communists,” Joy Behar clutched her pearls.
When token “Republican” Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that their party had just nominated a slew of socialists, Hostin claimed they weren’t real socialists, and Goldberg insisted they were only concerned about “Social Security”:

“The View” has been very open about admitting that the show is meant to be a vector to help the Democratic Party. They’re trying to do what they can ahead of Election Day, defying the FCC and ignoring that it violates ABC’s broadcast license. ABC is fully supporting it.

Talk Show or Campaign Ad? ‘The View’ Dares The FCC

In October 2025, Joy Behar made headlines when she suggested that conservatives wouldn’t come on “The View” because “<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/10/14/view-whines-republicans-wont-go-their-show-theyre-afraid-us">they’re afraid of us</a>.” Obviously, this caused <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/10/21/conservatives-call-out-view-not-accepting-appearance">several conservatives to speak out</a> and show proof that the show had actually refused their requests to come on and speak with the liberal cast, including members of Congress. A new <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/07/29/views-number-conservative-guests-swells-5-compared-87">NewsBusters study</a>, out this week, shows just how bad <a href="https://cdn.mrc.org/static/pdfuploads/The%20View%20Season%2029%20Guest%20Count.pdf-1785189121072.pdf">the disparity</a> was between which views “The View” allowed to be shared with their audience.
According to an examination of all 321 guests “The View” spoke with during their 29th season (September 8, 2025 to July 24, 2026), 87 of them expressed liberal opinions while only five expressed a conservative opinion.
Breaking down those numbers further, 16 of the liberal guests were Democratic politicians, both active and former. Additionally, they spoke with two of the liberal U.S. Supreme Court justices, Sonia Sotomayor (their first guest of the season) and Ketanji Brown Jackson, as well as former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Then there’s the conservative side of the data.
In addition to the highly publicized appearance of Vice President JD Vance on June 16 (the last time they spoke to a conservative), they also had on L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, actress Cheryl Hines, and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
At the time, Sunny Hostin commended Pratt’s candidacy by saying, “You are going to do so much.” That was before they <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/05/14/whoopi-wildfire-victim-pratt-shouldnt-be-passing-judgment">turned against him</a>.
The conversation they had with Hines was less about her and more about using her as a punching bag in lieu of her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Greene seemed to be their favorite guest since they had her on three times over the course of the season. Only one of her appearances counted as a conservative appearance since the other two featured her bashing the rest of the party and pushing liberal talking points.
It says a lot about “The View” that Greene met the “<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/11/07/view-conservatives-dont-live-our-certain-caliber-guest">certain caliber of guest</a>” they insisted they would only speak to.
As a way of writing off most conservative writers and thought leaders, “The View” has publicly said they only want to speak with the people they talk about on the show. But that’s a lie.
In the spring of 2026, “The View” targeted and smeared The Daily Wire’s Isabel Brown for her CPAC comments encouraging women to get married and have kids. One co-host even suggested Brown was in an abusive marriage.
When Brown reached out and requested an appearance so they could have a rational conversation, “The View” <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/04/03/view-continues-smear-isabel-brown-encouraging-marriage-kids">rejected the request and lied to her</a> about being all booked up. Meanwhile, they continued to attack and smear her on their podcast.
The real reason “The View” doesn’t like bringing on conservatives is because they’re the ones who are afraid. They’re afraid of being called out and having their farces exposed. “The View” is ending Season 29 with an uncertain future, with <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/06/23/mrc-leads-charge-strip-view-bona-fide-news-status">the FCC breathing down their necks</a> as their “bona fide news program” status was being scrutinized and ABC News reportedly <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/07/22/feeling-pressure-view-reportedly-slashing-budgets-denying">denying raises and slashing budgets</a> as advertisers looked elsewhere. Amid all of this, the liberal ladies stayed on message and cranked up the crazy in the closing week of the season with a torrent of lies crafted to scare their audience and drive them to the polls in utter terror in November.
Arguably one of the most outlandish things anyone on “The View” has ever uttered came from Joy Behar on Thursday. She was shouting about how we needed to “follow the money.” Supposedly, President Trump was being paid by Saudi Arabia to allow them to get nukes so they could drop one on Cleveland, Ohio.
It was truly wild stuff:

No. The agreement with the Saudis was not to give them nukes or allow them to construct nukes. The agreement was for <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-saudi-arabia-nuclear-program-uranium-15fdb262bb9c83d0d959ca96b7561c12">enriching uranium for nuclear energy</a>. And claiming Trump was selling out America so another country could nuke us was downright dangerous and incendiary rhetoric that could spur another liberal nutcase to violence.

Also, why Cleveland? Do the Saudis or Trump have a particular hatred for the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame? Maybe they&#8217;re still upset over the end of “The Drew Carey Show.”
“The View” also repeated the refrain they’ve been singing all year, that Trump was planning to steal the 2026 midterm elections.
“The question is: do you think he&#8217;s laying the groundwork to contest the election? Hell, yeah,” Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed. Behar added: “That speech was not about 2020. That speech was about 2026 and he is petrified that the Democrats are going to take over.”

Additionally, Behar’s brain apparently deleted every <a href="https://www.advocate.com/print-issue/current-issue/2012/12/01/new-joy-behar">comment she</a> and <a href="https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2022/09/07/doing-her-part-view-defends-2016-election-denial-jean-pierre">her co-hosts</a> had made <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/06/08/cant-believe-sunny-hostin-justifies-skepticism-trump-2024">doubting</a> every Republican presidential victory since 2000, including 2024. According to her, no one had ever questioned the validity of an American election before Trump:

Behar has also claimed <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2023/04/06/view-power-hungry-gop-only-win-elections-cheating">every Republican electoral victory</a> is suspect.
Finally, on Friday’s show, Hostin (<a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/2080677999733596489?s=20">who thought only 5 states required I.D</a>.) equated requiring I.D. to vote to having black people &#8220;count jelly beans in a jar&#8221; and &#8220;having to answer citizenship questions.&#8221; &#8220;I believe that in my soul,&#8221; she proclaimed.

‘The View’ Closes Season 29 With A Torrent Of Lies To Scare Their Audience

Sunny Hostin, the co-host of ABC’s “The View,” is facing backlash for appearing to use her position as a celebrity and former federal prosecutor to try to save her son from a police charge.
Hostin&#8217;s son, 24-year-old Gabriel Hostin, was briefly arrested June 16 in New Rochelle — a city about 17 miles from New York City. Officers spotted Gabriel “on the right-of-way of the active railroad tracks, in violation of the posted no trespassing signs,” according to court records <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/07/17/us-news/sunny-hostin-was-on-phone-with-son-when-he-was-caught-trespassing-on-metro-north-tracks/">obtained</a> by the New York Post. 
Immediately after being handcuffed, Gabriel asked if he could call his mother and have the police talk to her. The police agreed.
Bodycam footage received by the New York Post shows Sunny using her position as a former federal prosecutor and her son’s background as a Harvard graduate and elementary teacher to try to get the charge dropped.
When Sunny got on the phone, one police officer explained the nature of the incident.
“Besides being illegal, it’s actually very dangerous for him to be around the railroad tracks. We get people who get hit all the time,” one police officer, identified as Officer Gomez, stated.
“That’s my son. He’s a Harvard graduate. He’s not a criminal. He has no criminal record, no criminal history,&#8221; Sunny replied over the phone.
The officer replied that police had changed the charge from the usual criminal misdemeanor to a violation. “There’s nothing on his record, and he’s been very cooperative with us. But as of right now, we will have to issue him an appearance ticket,” Gomez said.
“Officer, is that really necessary? This is a kid who doesn’t do anything. He’s a Harvard graduate and a Yale researcher,” Hostin replied. “He teaches geometry to 4th graders in the Bronx. Why would you put something on his record like this?”
“It’s not anything criminal. He just has to appear. That’s all it is. It’s not a misdemeanor,” Gomez said. “He would have to appear, which is an inconvenience, but with all due respect, man, I still have a job to do, and we have to deter people from being on the tracks.”
Sunny arrived at the scene and asked for the violation to be reduced to a warning, to which Gomez said, “I cannot at this point.”
The officer <a href="https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/PEN/140.05">issued</a> Gabriel Hostin a 140.05, which constitutes a trespass violation. In New York <a href="https://www.nycourts.gov/help/criminal/types-criminal-cases">courts</a>, violations are for “non-criminal offenses [that] can still be punishable by arrest, fines and/or jail time.” However, violations do not create a criminal record and can remain off most applications. 
Gabriel claimed the gate was open to the railroad and his trespassing was “an innocent mistake.”
&#8220;The View&#8221; host has decided to represent her son in his case to try to clear him of the violation.
“The circumstances of this case do not reflect the type of conduct the New York Penal Law § 140.05 was intended to address,” Hostin stated in a letter to Assistant District Attorney Amanda Greene, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/07/17/sunny-hostin-and-son-gabriel-on-body-cam-footage/">obtained</a> by TMZ.
She continued in the letter, stating that Gabriel was a Harvard graduate and a former Junior Olympian track athlete who was training when he “observed what appeared to be a gravel incline that could be used for his training.” Her letter alleges that the “No Trespassing” sign was on the left gate and thus not visible since the gates were open.
In response to Sunny’s claim, the Metro-North Railroad police released a photo showing the “No Trespassing” sign was visible on a pole near the open gates.
&#8220;The View&#8221; host has yet to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/sunnychostin/">discuss</a> the situation on social media or broach the subject on her show.

‘The View’ Host Uses Her Privilege After Son Is Arrested

Meanwhile, the new sexual assault allegations against Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/07/07/sunny-hostin-doubles-down-support-platner-despite-sexual">weren’t enough to scare her away</a> from fully supporting him.
Hostin clearly has some deep-seated issues about certain neighborhoods and the certain people who live in them, including her own.
Last year, she <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/10/23/sunny-hostin-fears-her-all-white-neighborhood-will-call-cops">shared her concern</a> that everyone in the “all-white neighborhood” into which she had just moved was secretly racist, and that they were going to call the police to harass her son on his jogs.
“I have had to be in the position where I&#8217;ve gone to my local police department because I know my son is going to be training for the Junior Olympics, running around the neighborhood, in an all-white neighborhood, and I have brought him to the police and said he belongs to me, this is my son. Do not harass him, do not stop him,” she recounted.

Hostin suggested her fear stemmed from her being “a mother of black children.” “I know that black boys are not given the presumption of innocence and the presumption of youth,” she added.
Hostin’s brazen anti-Americanism apparently is supported by ABC News and Disney.
Earlier this year, she admitted that she was &#8220;embarrassed” to be an American and called America a “<a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2026/06/05/sunny-hostin-embarrassed-america-calls-it-failed-experiment">failed experiment</a>.”

But where did Hostin learn to hate America this much? According to her, she learned from her father, and she’s been fairly open about it.
In reacting to a SCOTUS ruling against Affirmative Action in 2023, <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/2074616889523794213?s=20">Hostin shared</a> the corrupting “wisdom” her father taught her: “It&#8217;s been harder for us, and I&#8217;m sorry, people may not agree with that. My father always told me you have to work twice as hard to get half as far in this country and that remains true.”

&#8220;The View&#8221; co-host Sunny Hostin returned to a well-worn theme on Monday: the sight of the Stars and Stripes fills her with dread.
Discussing the viral image of masked Patriot Front marchers riding a Washington Metro train alongside a black woman who sat expressionless nearby, Hostin used the moment to revive her years-old claim that Old Glory has effectively become a white supremacist emblem in parts of the country.
Hostin told viewers, “There are times when I walk into a community and I see American flags all over the community and I suddenly feel unsafe because there is a section of this country that has co-opted the American flag and they equate being an American, or an American flag, with white supremacy.”
She made sure to note this wasn&#8217;t a new position — she&#8217;s held it for roughly a decade on the show.
Naturally, the internet had questions, chief among them: doesn&#8217;t Hostin herself live in one of the whitest, wealthiest zip codes in America? Commentators were quick to point out that her Purchase, New York neighborhood boasts an average income around $800,000 and a population that&#8217;s overwhelmingly white — the kind of demographic makeup that, by her own logic, might warrant suspicion.

This isn&#8217;t Hostin&#8217;s first rodeo with flag-based fearmongering. Back in 2021, she made similar remarks defending an MSNBC analyst who had called American and Trump flags in Long Island &#8220;disturbing.&#8221;
“When someone of color, a black woman, is telling you her feelings, people need to listen and not, you know, repudiate it and not say, ‘Well, that can’t be true,&#8217;” Hostin said at the time. “When I drive into a neighborhood, and it’s not July 4th, and I’m not in a predominantly military household neighborhood and there are flags, American flags, everywhere, alongside Trump flags, alongside flags with stars in a circle, I feel threatened.”
“Because the message is very clear,” she had added. “It’s a message of white supremacy. It’s a message of racism, and it’s a message of their country, not my country. I don’t understand why that would receive backlash. People need to listen when I am saying this is how I feel. This is my experience in this country.”
Co-host Michelle Buteau piled on, questioning what, exactly, the nation has to celebrate at 250 years and arguing that the viral Metro photo validated the experiences minorities face in their daily lives.
Flag anxiety is just the latest entry in Hostin&#8217;s catalogue of grievances. She&#8217;s previously argued that Trump&#8217;s 2025 inauguration on Martin Luther King Day was hypocritical, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/violence-is-justified-sunny-hostin-excuses-ceo-killer-says-this-country-was-built-on-violence">called</a> the assassination of a healthcare CEO a normal byproduct of a nation &#8220;built on violence,&#8221; and — despite learning her own ancestors owned slaves — <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/1881741976405516415">maintained</a> she&#8217;s still owed reparations.
In Hostin&#8217;s America, a flag flying on a porch is a five-alarm threat.

Co-host Sunny Hostin came in hot this week, proclaiming on Monday that Americans had good reason to doubt the results of the 2024 presidential election. Did she provide any evidence? Of course, not. It was just another example of ABC’s “bona fide news program” poisoning America’s body politic with misinformation and lies.
Spurred on by President Donald Trump’s Meet the Press interview, where he clashed with moderator Kristen Welker over California’s election system, co-host Sara Haines falsely suggested that election denialism only occurred since Trump first came into office. Cue the clips of Democrats from 2000.

Haines clutched her pearls about how it was supposedly only a Republican conspiracy, but had since grown popular with Democrats. “I actually think that this is a coordinated effort to steal the 2026 election,” Hostin said. “Remember what happened in Minnesota with Pretti and Good. Pam Bondi sent a letter to the governor of Minnesota and said that they would withdraw ICE agents if they provided all of their voter data.”

&#8220;The View&#8221; co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin blew a gasket on Tuesday&#8217;s show, reacting to President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-and-mark-cubans-white-house-moment-takes-unexpected-turn?author=Amanda+Prestigiacomo&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+And+Mark+Cuban’s+White+House+Moment+Takes+Unexpected+Turn">reducing the cost</a> of hundreds of prescription drugs for Americans.
Behar and Hostin railed about drugs being added to the federal government&#8217;s direct-to-consumer drug site, called TrumpRx, which now boasts more than 600 drugs. The pair claimed that Trump had bad intentions, thereby discounting the achievement.
&#8220;First of all, you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas,&#8221; Behar said. &#8220;Once Trump puts his name on prescriptions, we’re all going to die, okay? He put his name on the Trump Shuttle, the Trump Vodka, Trump University, the Trump Hotel, and my favorite, the casinos that all went bankrupt.&#8221;
Hostin said she was in complete agreement with Behar. She called Trump a &#8220;failed businessman&#8221; and bizarrely excoriated the president for saying he wanted to make Americans &#8220;wealthy.&#8221; Trump &#8220;didn&#8217;t say &#8216;healthy,'&#8221; Hostin reasoned.
&#8220;This is not a well-intentioned person,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;He is not doing this out of the goodness of his heart!&#8221;
The peculiar take landed the pair at odds with some of their fellow leftist hosts. Sara Haines, for example, praised the price drop for Americans, even if she dislikes Trump.
“This helps people,&#8221; she said. &#8220;People who are literally suffering from illness and cannot pay for their medicine.”
In return, Hostin called her &#8220;so naive.&#8221;
Alyssa Farah Griffin also pushed back on the naysayers. &#8220;A medication I had to take for IVF is a tenth of the price on TrumpRx,&#8221; she explained.
&#8220;Whatever, it’s tacky that his name is on it,&#8221; Farah Griffin continued. &#8220;The average family, one third of Americans cut back on essential foods and utilities to be able to cover their prescription drug costs.&#8221;
&#8220;You’re not going to convince me that, just because Trump is involved, we should be like, ‘Screw it, don’t bring down prescription drugs,'&#8221; she added.
