&#8220;The View&#8221; host Sunny Hostin claimed on Thursday that President Donald Trump&#8217;s comments on his Truth Social platform amounted to &#8220;insider trading&#8221; and were specifically coded to give a heads up to his billionaire friends.
Hostin argued that because Trump had recommended &#8220;buying&#8221; when the stock market dropped — amid turmoil over his &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs — he had been signaling to billionaires that they should buy with the expectation that the market would shoot up again when he put them on hold.
&#8220;I gotta tell you, I think what&#8217;s fascinating to me is that the corruption is just completely out in the open at this point,&#8221; Hostin claimed. &#8220;You know, because these kinds of actions where Trump tweeted out before this li&#8217;l pause, he said, &#8216;This is a great time to buy.&#8217; And that&#8217;s really a whistle to those billionaires or people that have money that can buy low and then the stock market prices go up, that&#8217;s generally called insider trading and that would ordinarily trigger an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.&#8221;
&#8220;We know now that that&#8217;s not probably going to happen because all of these government agencies have been, you know, destroyed and dismantled,&#8221; Hostin continued. &#8220;But someone with knowledge of an economic policy change that would cause the markets to shoot back up right before posting about how great a time it is to buy right before the policy change happened would certainly be guilty of insider trading in my view.&#8221;

ABC News host Sunny Hostin tripped over several of former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin&#8217;s glaring shortcomings and strategic blunders in her efforts to trash current Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over a Signal chat group that accidentally included Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg.

&#8220;You know, the thing is we all knew that Hegseth was unqualified for this job and he replaced a four-star general with over 40 years of experience, Lloyd Austin,&#8221; Hostin began. &#8220;And this would not have happened and did not happen on Lloyd Austin&#8217;s watch.&#8221;
&#8220;But what I will say is, to your question initially, Whoopi, these people need to be fired,&#8221; Hostin added. &#8220;They need to be held accountable. I remember when, following the July 13th rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when there was an assassination attempt on the president&#8217;s life, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said, &#8216;The buck stops with me,&#8217; and she resigned. She resigned. She didn&#8217;t put it on anyone else.&#8221;
&#8220;Pete Hegseth is the person that is responsible — yeah — he&#8217;s the person, as the Secretary of Defense, he is responsible for everything,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;It was his decision to use that group chat to type out this highly sensitive information.&#8221;
Hostin failed to mention the fact that Austin was the one in charge when American troops were ordered to abandon Bagram Air Base — which could have been more easily defended — and funnel all military and civilian evacuations through the congested streets of Kabul and Hamid Karzai International Airport. That decision left Americans and Afghans alike vulnerable when a suicide bomber attacked near Abbey Gate on August 26, 2021, killing 13 U.S. service members and some 160 civilians — and wounding hundreds more. Not one person in the Biden administration has been held responsible for that — but Hegseth and his team have promised that &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/accountability-will-be-coming-secdef-promises-to-investigate-bidens-afghanistan-boondoggle" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accountability will be coming</a>.&#8221;
Hostin also left out the fact that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pentagon-inspector-general-announces-review-of-austin-going-mia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Austin effectively went AWOL</a> (Absent WithOut Leave) for days, leaving a subordinate in charge while he was hospitalized, but failing to apprise the chain of command — namely the White House — of his situation.

ABC News host Sunny Hostin argued on &#8220;The View&#8221; that anti-Israel agitator Mahmoud Khalil should have the same rights and protections as an American citizen, referring to him as a &#8220;political prisoner&#8221; and suggesting that President Donald Trump was trying to have him &#8220;disappeared.&#8221;
Hostin addressed the issue during Monday&#8217;s broadcast of the midday talk show, where she claimed that Khalil&#8217;s status as a Green Card-holder afforded him the same rights any citizen would have and complained that the Trump administration — and the U.S. State Department under Secretary of State Marco Rubio — was overstepping in efforts to strip him of his immigration status and deport him.

&#8220;I love how you started this, Whoopi [Goldberg], because you started it with the law, with Tom Homan saying Americans, once you are here, especially if you have a Green Card, you are a permanent legal resident of the United States,&#8221; Hostin began. &#8220;Which means that you have the constitutional protections that every American citizen has — and that includes free speech, and it certainly includes due process from being disappeared.&#8221;
&#8220;And so I want to point out that on March 8th, a legal permanent resident who has a Green Card, his name&#8217;s Mahmoud Khalil, was taken from Columbia University housing,&#8221; Hostin continued. &#8220;His pregnant wife is due next month. Plain-clothed men in New York grabbed him into an unmarked car, then moved him to Jersey, which is something that is done in authoritarian governments, and moved him to Louisiana, which is one of the worst detention centers that we know of in this country.&#8221;
&#8220;He has said — there&#8217;s a letter that everyone I hope reads — calls himself a political prisoner. I believe that he is,&#8221; she said. &#8220;He wrote on March 18th, 2025, and what is so shocking to me is that this could happen to someone who is a permanent legal resident with a Green Card, with an American wife about to have an American child being disappeared because of — because he spoke out. Because he has his freedom of speech and because he basically spoke out and gave an opinion that now the State Department is saying is against our foreign policy.&#8221;
Hostin left out the reason Secretary Rubio had determined Khalil&#8217;s &#8220;opinion&#8221; ran counter to U.S. foreign policy — the fact that Khalil was affiliated with a group that rallied behind the mission of dismantling the whole of western civilization and had actively fomented anti-Israel protests that resulted in vandalism, violence, and threats against Jewish students and professors.
The ABC personality also left out the most <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/03/24/us-news/mahmoud-khalil-hid-ties-to-unrwa-on-green-card-application-feds-say-as-they-hit-anti-israel-agitator-with-new-accusations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent updates</a> on Khalil — specifically, the fact that when Khalil applied to change his immigration status and obtain his Green Card, he allegedly left out relevant information regarding his affiliation with several groups that would most likely have raised red flags.
Among those groups was the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, known as UNRWA, which had members who participated alongside Hamas terrorists in the atrocities that took place on October 7, 2023. According to the New York Post, Khalil worked with UNRWA as a political affairs officer as recently as 2023. Khalil was also reportedly working for the Syria Office in the British Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon — another association allegedly left off his application — at the time he applied to change his immigration status. Additionally, the State Department has alleged Khalil never revealed ties to the anti-Israel group that disrupted things at Columbia University over the last year: Columbia University Apartheid Divest.
Rubio laid out the State Department&#8217;s case shortly after Khalil was taken into custody, saying that if Khalil had revealed his plans to engage in such activities on his visa application, it would have been denied — and by that logic, Rubio declared that it could be revoked for the same reason.

Hostin made the point during Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View&#8221; on ABC shortly after boasting that she hadn&#8217;t even watched the president&#8217;s remarks in an effort to deny him the ratings.
&#8220;While I didn&#8217;t watch it, I was looking for signs of an opposition party, which is what the Democratic Party must be at this point,&#8221; Hostin declared. &#8220;Not a resistance, because resistance is passive. Opposition is active, and I think that we — what I saw when Representative <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/deported-dem-rep-al-green-booted-from-trump-address-to-congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Al Green</a> stood up and said, &#8216;You don&#8217;t have a mandate to take away Medicaid,&#8217; and he was tossed out, I expected the rest of his Democratic caucus, the rest of his colleagues, to walk out with him! Responding to Trump&#8217;s assertions that he would prefer to ultimately dismantle the federal Department of Education — turning the power over to the states — Hostin argued that he&#8217;d gotten the idea from Project 2025 despite his repeated insistence that he&#8217;d never even read it.

Hostin followed that with her claim that the real reason Trump planned to ax the department was to reduce the number of American children who are provided a good education.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not really about saving money,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I think there&#8217;s a much more nefarious reason for it.&#8221;

Several in the audience and around the table laughed as Hostin continued, &#8220;But I will say this: I&#8217;m so tired of this notion that a white man doing something like this at age 25 is a kid doing it, because your frontal lobe is fully developed at 25, you are a graduate of Rutgers University. You&#8217;re an engineer. You have had several positions, jobs, with Elon Musk. You are not a kid. You are a man.&#8221;
&#8220;And so this notion that, oh, well, he made childish mistakes and it shouldn&#8217;t ruin his life because he&#8217;s just a kid, really there&#8217;s a juxtaposition which, how they do treat black boys,&#8221; Hostin claimed. She made no effort to explain why many on the Left still refer to Michael Brown — who was a legal adult (18) and was six feet, four inches tall, and 292 pounds when he physically assaulted a police officer — as a &#8220;child.&#8221;
&#8220;Black kids are often treated as adults when they actually are children,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;So I really, really noticed that. And the other thing I&#8217;ll say is the engineering DOG team under Elon Musk —&#8221;

&#8220;Doggy team. The oldest person is 25. Goldberg complained that the league had opted to remove the &#8220;end racism&#8221; slogan, replacing it with &#8220;choose love&#8221; at one end and &#8220;it takes all of us&#8221; at the other — and noted that the NFL had stated it had nothing whatsoever to do with Trump.
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a little fishy and shady,&#8221; Hostin replied. She went on to say that the league had announced the decision based on recent tragedies including the fires in Los Angeles, the plane crash at Reagan National Airport, and the terrorist attack in New Orleans — and while she agreed that those victims should be honored, she objected to the manner in which it was being done.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know how &#8216;choose love&#8217; and &#8216;it takes all of us&#8217; relates to that,&#8221; she said, adding that she absolutely believed the slogan being removed was related to Trump&#8217;s attendance. She then said that she did not believe that &#8220;racism is over,&#8221; suggesting that the old slogan was more needed.
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin weighed in on the issue, arguing that &#8220;hashtag activism&#8221; in general was &#8220;lazy&#8221; and didn&#8217;t actually accomplish anything tangible. She also pointed to a recent interview with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who said that even as the federal government and numerous major corporations are putting an end to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the NFL plans to maintain its DEI policies.

The hosts of ABC News&#8217; midday talk show &#8220;The View&#8221; aired what amounted to a collective temper tantrum on Tuesday, complaining about the fact that President Donald Trump had unshackled federal agents and tasked them with enforcing immigration law.
The broadcast began with regular host Whoopi Goldberg, who responded to actress Selena Gomez&#8217; tearful video claiming that her &#8220;people&#8221; were being attacked. Goldberg then falsely claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were indiscriminately sweeping up any and all illegal immigrants for immediate deportation.
Border czar <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/homan-ice-has-made-1300-arrests-including-pedophiles-gang-members-and-at-least-1-terrorist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tom Homan</a>, who spoke to NewsNation host Chris Cuomo last week, explained that the agents are targeting criminal aliens first — meaning those who have committed additional crimes beyond simply entering the United States illegally — but that because some of them are hiding in sanctuary jurisdictions, there have also been some &#8220;collateral&#8221; arrests.
Goldberg complained that the Trump administration was not beginning by deporting people who were already in prison because they&#8217;d been convicted of crimes. Joy Behar, ignoring the fact that they were American citizens and had already been pardoned, claimed that Trump couldn&#8217;t do that because he&#8217;d &#8220;have to send the January 6th people back too.&#8221;

She referenced the woman who was set on fire and left to die on a New York City subway — an act committed by an illegal immigrant who &#8220;never should have been in the country,&#8221; and Hostin attempted to rebuff her.

The hosts of ABC News&#8217; &#8220;The View&#8221; took turns scolding Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) on Monday, first for taking a meeting with President Donald Trump and then for daring to vote in favor of any of his cabinet appointments.
Ana Navarro, who self-identifies as a Republican despite her insistence on supporting and defending former President Joe Biden and even hosting one evening of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, went after Fetterman first.
&#8220;You did get a lot of criticism for it from some people who thought you going to Mar-a-Lago gave cover to Trump by creating this illusion that he&#8217;s amenable to working with Democrats,&#8221; she said of Fetterman&#8217;s visit with Trump at his Florida home. She then boasted that she had supported Republicans who crossed the aisle to work with Biden — before lambasting Democrats who dared to work across the aisle when the other side was Trump.
&#8220;I was very supportive when people like Mitt Romney and Rob Portman worked with Joe Biden, so I understand the need for bipartisanship,&#8221; she said, and then immediately pivoted: &#8220;I didn&#8217;t love the optics of you going to Mar-a-Lago, he was going to — which is his palace. He was going to be in Washington a week later.&#8221;

Cohost Sunny Hostin joined the fray then, complaining that Fetterman had called out the politically motivated nature of the hush-money case against Trump in Manhattan.
&#8220;Just for clarification, did you mean that the 34-count case in which Donald Trump was found guilty of various financial crimes was politically motivated?&#8221; Hostin pressed.
&#8220;I found that when the judicial system gets weaponized, and targeted political enemies for political gain, I think that&#8217;s inappropriate, and I think that degrades our collective trust in this very important institution,&#8221; Fetterman pushed back, arguing that it was wrong no matter which side was guilty of such action.
&#8220;I think I like to call it strikes and balls, but the judicial system has to remain impartial. I mean, that&#8217;s really the cornerstone of our society,&#8221; he added.
Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to deflect away from the political prosecution of Trump, asking the audience, &#8220;Wouldn&#8217;t that be great if that&#8217;s the way that things actually worked?&#8221;
After the commercial break, Hostin kept at it, saying that many Democrats were frustrated because Fetterman appeared to have &#8220;made a rightward shift.&#8221; By way of evidence, Hostin listed his previous meeting with the incoming President of the United States, the fact that he joined Truth Social, and his support of border security and fracking — the latter of which sustains many jobs in his home state of Pennsylvania.

Navarro brought the topic back around to Trump&#8217;s cabinet nominees, complaining that Fetterman had met with them on Capitol Hill — which he has repeatedly said he&#8217;d do because the Senate is called to &#8220;advise and consent&#8221; — and that he&#8217;d even voted for a few of them. Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar, cohosts of ABC News&#8217; &#8220;The View,&#8221; opened Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast of the midday talk show by defending former President Joe Biden&#8217;s 11th-hour pardons for several of his family members.
Hostin and Behar, both of whom have repeatedly accused President Donald Trump of weaponizing the Justice Department, made excuse after excuse for the blanket pardons Biden issued just moments prior to leaving the White House for the final time.
Hostin began the conversation by complaining about Trump&#8217;s decision to pardon nearly all of those who&#8217;d been charged in relation to January 6, claiming that it was out of bounds for him to pardon people who were guilty of &#8220;violence toward law enforcement.&#8221;

Griffin pushed back, noting that she was referring to the pardons issued on Monday to his siblings and in-laws.
Hostin interrupted, saying that Biden was only responding to extreme circumstances and trying to protect his family from a president &#8220;on a revenge tour.&#8221;
Cohost Sara Haines argued that she could understand where Biden was coming from, even if pardoning his family members might send a message that was not optimal.
&#8220;Whenever I see something like this I try to parse out how would I feel in their shoes &#8230; knowing what Donald Trump is capable of and what he said he would do &#8230; even at the expense of weakening [American institutions] I would say at least protect my family,&#8221; Haines explained.

Griffin tried once more, arguing that even Trump had backed away from issuing blanket pardons to family members and key allies — despite Democrats and media insisting he was likely to do so — in the final hours of his first term in the White House.
Cohost Ana Navarro complained that the two presidents&#8217; actions were not in any way comparable, saying that Biden was less of a problem because he had waited until the very last day to issue the pardons he&#8217;d repeatedly promised not to issue, while Trump had made good on day one on his campaign promise to issue pardons for most of those charged over the January 6 riot.

Sunny Hostin spent part of Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View&#8221; on ABC complaining that President Donald Trump had been allowed to take the oath of office on Monday, beginning his second term on Martin Luther King Day.
Hostin, who admitted that she did not watch any of the proceedings because she&#8217;d &#8220;decided to protect my peace,&#8221; argued that it was hypocritical to have Trump sworn in on a day honoring King.
Instead of watching the inauguration, she said she&#8217;d chosen to participate in a service day in Harlem with her sorority sisters.

Additionally, after being sworn in on Sunday, January 20, both former Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama held multiple inaugural events on the holiday in 1985 and 2013, respectively. It was Reagan, in 1983, who declared that the third Monday in January would be recognized in honor of the Civil Rights leader.
