House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced the move one day after members of his panel <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-panel-votes-to-subpoena-ghislaine-maxwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> to authorize him to issue a subpoena. A <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/2025.07.23-Subpoena-Cover-Letter-to-Maxwell-FINAL.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cover letter</a> to Maxwell says Comer seeks a deposition at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, on August 11. The chairman&#8217;s office said the Department of Justice (DOJ) is &#8220;cooperating&#8221; and would &#8220;help facilitate&#8221; the interview.
&#8220;The facts and circumstances surrounding both your and Mr. Epstein&#8217;s cases have received immense public interest and scrutiny,&#8221; Comer wrote on Wednesday.
&#8220;At the outset of the 119th Congress, on February 11, 2025, the Committee and the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice requesting a briefing regarding documents in the Department&#8217;s possession regarding &#8216;the investigation into and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein,'&#8221; Comer added. &#8220;On May 8, the Task Force sent another letter to the Department requesting the public release of &#8216;the entirety of the Epstein files&#8217; and a briefing regarding the release of these files.&#8221;
Comer&#8217;s team noted in a press release that The Daily Mail had reported on July 13 that Maxwell was open to speaking with Congress about Epstein&#8217;s criminal activities. The news outlet cited <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14901591/Jeffrey-Epstein-Ghislaine-Maxwell-trump-congress.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unnamed sources</a> close to Maxwell.
Maxwell is serving <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-20-years-prison-conspiring-jeffrey-epstein-sexually-abuse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a 20-year prison sentence</a> after being found guilty of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls.
Her attorney, David Oscar Markus, <a href="https://x.com/kaitlancollins/status/1948103871802315038" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told CNN</a> in response to the subpoena, &#8220;Ms. Maxwell is taking this one step at a time. She looks forward to her meeting with the Department of Justice, and that discussion will help inform how she proceeds.&#8221; He also <a href="https://x.com/kaitlancollins/status/1948104188975796703" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that concerns about Maxwell&#8217;s credibility are &#8220;unfounded&#8221; while stressing that his client would speak &#8220;truthfully&#8221; and not plead the Fifth if a deposition with Congress were to occur.

A growing number of lawmakers have been pushing for the disclosure of more information on Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who was found dead at the age of 66 in his New York City jail cell in 2019 after being arrested on sex trafficking charges involving young girls. &#8220;Statements in the press by you and your representatives indicate that you and other executive officers were involved, or had knowledge of, MDE’s administration of the FCNP and responsibilities and actions regarding the massive fraud,&#8221; she added.
The committee also sent subpoenas for documents to MDE Commissioner Willie Jett, Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack, and Agriculture Department Inspector General Phyllis Fong. Walz and the others received a September 18 deadline.

In 2022, federal prosecutors announced charges against dozens of defendants linked to FOF in what the DOJ described at the time as being &#8220;the largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the nation.&#8221;
In June of this year, U.S. Attorney Andrew Lugar <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-mn/pr/five-defendants-found-guilty-their-roles-250-million-fraud-scheme" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that five defendants had been convicted by a federal jury, and a total of 23 individuals had been &#8220;held accountable&#8221; for their roles in the $250 million fraud scheme.
Foxx&#8217;s letter to Walz noted that the governor, when asked about not holding agencies accountable and whether MDE employees would be disciplined, <a href="https://www.startribune.com/we-can-always-do-better-gov-tim-walz-says-of-education-department-after-report-criticizes-oversight-of-feeding-our-future/600374449" target="_blank" rel="noopener">replied</a>, &#8220;This wasn’t malfeasance.&#8221;
Walz also stated, &#8220;There’s not a single state employee that was implicated in doing anything that was illegal. They simply didn’t do as much due diligence as they should’ve.&#8221;
The Office of the Legislative Auditor in Minnesota <a href="https://www.auditor.leg.state.mn.us/sreview/pdf/2024-mdefof.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a report this summer that said MDE&#8217;s oversight of FOF had been &#8220;inadequate&#8221; and listed ways in which it &#8220;created opportunities for fraud.&#8221;
A spokesperson for Walz told <a href="https://www.axios.com/local/twin-cities/2024/06/14/feeding-our-future-fraud-minnesota-department-education-audit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a> his administration &#8220;made many of the corrective actions suggested by the OLA [Office of the Legislative Auditor] and taken &#8216;strong steps to find and eliminate any remaining vulnerabilities in government programs.'&#8221;

A group of more than two dozen <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-republicans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Republicans</a> unveiled this week a resolution that aims to rescind <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6-committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6 Committee</a> subpoenas against several associates of former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a>.
The measure also seeks to withdraw recommendations that these individuals be held in contempt of Congress and require the House speaker to notify the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the actions.
At focus are four ex-White House officials who refused to cooperate with subpoenas: Stephen Bannon, Peter Navarro, Dan Scavino, and Mark Meadows.
The DOJ <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/03/politics/justice-department-declines-charge-meadows-scavino-january-6/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declined</a> to prosecute Scavino and Meadows, but did open up cases and secure convictions against the others.
Former White House trade adviser Navarro is <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/19/us/politics/peter-navarro-jail-contempt-congress.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">serving</a> a four-month prison sentence. Bannon, Trump&#8217;s former chief strategist who left the White House in 2017, is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-judge-orders-bannon-to-report-to-prison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slated to report</a> to prison on July 1.
Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) <a href="https://burlison.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-burlison-introduces-resolution-rescind-subpoenas-stephen-k-bannon-mark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the resolution on Tuesday, noting that it had 24 co-sponsors, including Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Chip Roy (R-TX).
&#8220;The subpoenas that were issued were legally insufficient and should be rescinded, and the contempt of Congress referrals based on those subpoenas should be withdrawn,&#8221; Burlison said in a statement.
Democrats led the House when the now-defunct January 6 Committee ran its investigation. Two Republicans, now-former Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), served on the panel.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who served as chairman of the January 6 Committee, pushed back against the bid to revoke the subpoenas and withdraw the contempt of Congress recommendations.
&#8220;Thankfully, this resolution will have no impact,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/jan-6-subpoenas-against-trump-aides-would-revoked-under-new-bill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he told Fox News</a>, adding that the subpoenas &#8220;were litigated exhaustively, with contempt of Congress charges going as high as the Supreme Court.&#8221;
It remains to be seen whether the resolution will even be considered by the GOP-led House, but its co-sponsors would like to see a vote.
&#8220;The Republican House should, by an official vote of the House, declare the subpoenas on Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro to be illegitimate and repealed,” Massie said.
He added, &#8220;If Congress does so, it will be an effective and needed repudiation of the sham January 6th committee.&#8221;

Former White House Press Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jen-psaki" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jen Psaki</a> has agreed to testify for a congressional investigation into the Biden administration&#8217;s chaotic 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan — but with a catch that may still result in a subpoena being issued, a top House Republican announced on Monday.
House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), who had <a href="https://foreignaffairs.house.gov/press-release/chairman-mccaul-sends-final-letter-requesting-psaki-testify-on-afghanistan-withdrawal-or-face-subpoena/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">threatened to subpoena</a> Psaki if she did not stop dodging an interview after several months of correspondence, said her counsel sent a response last week, and now a transcribed interview has been scheduled for July 26.
Yet the issue is not fully resolved, as McCaul said in a new <a href="https://foreignaffairs.house.gov/press-release/chairman-mccaul-secures-date-for-transcribed-interview-of-jen-psaki-for-afghanistan-withdrawal-investigation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to Psaki that it is his understanding that she &#8220;conditioned&#8221; her appearance upon receiving approval from the White House. The chairman noted that his committee is willing to attend any meetings geared toward overcoming the hurdle.
&#8220;While I hope to proceed with your voluntary appearance, I expect you to have resolved the conditionality of your appearance by June 26, 2024,&#8221; McCaul said. &#8220;If not, I must treat your June 12 response as a refusal to appear and you will be compelled to sit for a deposition on July 26, 2024.&#8221;

Psaki served as an &#8220;authoritative source&#8221; on the withdrawal of U.S. military troops and civilians in August of 2021, McCaul wrote in his letter, adding how his committee &#8220;has a vested interest in understanding those diplomatic and information transmission failures, which led to misrepresentations regarding, amongst other things, coordination with allies, contingency planning, the foreseeability of Afghanistan’s collapse, and the safety of Americans and allies in Afghanistan.&#8221;
McCaul added, &#8220;As a former public servant, and now, a private citizen in the public sphere, you have a duty to appear before Congress when called upon. Should you wish to avoid being the sole witness to date compelled to appear in this investigation, the limitations imposed on your appearance by the White House must be resolved by June 26, 2024.&#8221;

Georgia&#8217;s Fulton County District Attorney <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fulton-county-prosecutors-have-another-recording-of-trump-pressuring-georgia-house-speaker-to-overturn-election-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fani Willis</a>, who is leading a 2020 election interference case against former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a> and his allies, issued a combative response to House Judiciary Chairman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jim-jordan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jim Jordan</a> (R-OH) this week in a clash over documents.
The prosecutor sent Jordan a <a href="https://twitter.com/ZcohenCNN/status/1773052447558103124?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> on Monday saying that she &#8220;categorically&#8221; rejected the chairman&#8217;s assertion that her office has not sufficiently responded to his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jim-jordan-subpoenas-fulton-da-fani-willis-following-whistleblower-allegations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">subpoena</a> from early February.

Jordan issued the subpoena after the Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-unveils-audio-of-staffer-warning-georgia-prosecutor-of-federal-money-being-misspent-ahead-of-firing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> audio of an employee telling Willis about the potential misuse of federal funds weeks before the worker was fired. Willis said a February 23 letter she sent Jordan expressed that her office was &#8220;in the process of producing relevant documents to you on a rolling basis and is undertaking a good faith effort to provide you with responsive information about our federal grant funding.&#8221;

Although the DA said her office was making another production on Monday as part of that &#8220;ongoing process,&#8221; she claimed Jordan&#8217;s &#8220;extensive&#8221; demands that cover several years for records in less than two months are &#8220;unreasonable and uncustomary.&#8221;
Willis insisted that such an endeavor would require her office to &#8220;divert resources from our primary purpose of prosecuting crime,&#8221; though she did not name any particular case.
&#8220;Let me be clear, while we are abiding by your subpoena in good faith and with due diligence, we will not divert resources that undermine our duty to the people of Fulton County to prosecute felonies committed in this jurisdiction,&#8221; Willis said.
&#8220;We will not shut down this office&#8217;s efforts to prosecute crime — including gang activity, acts of violence and public corruption — to meet unreasonable deadlines in your politically motivated &#8216;investigation&#8217; of this office,&#8221; she added.
Willis said her office will make another production in the &#8220;coming weeks.&#8221;

Trump and 18 co-defendants pleaded not guilty in the Georgia election case. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) subpoenaed Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis on Friday following allegations that the leftist district attorney fired a staffer who tried to warn her about misusing federal funds. The subpoena is part of the Judiciary Committee&#8217;s probe into whether Willis used federal funds in her investigation of former President Donald Trump.
Willis, who is pursuing convictions for Trump in a Georgia racketeering and election interference case, has failed to voluntarily hand over documents after the Judiciary Committee requested them multiple times last year, Jordan wrote in a <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-02-02-jdj-to-fani-willis-re-subpoena.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> addressed to Willis. Jordan said the committee’s oversight of Willis’ office is “particularly relevant” given the recent <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-unveils-audio-of-staffer-warning-georgia-prosecutor-of-federal-money-being-misspent-ahead-of-firing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allegations</a> that the DA’s office misused federal funds and then fired the whistleblower who tried to warn Willis of the misuse, which was first <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/fani-willis-axed-employee-who-blew-whistle-on-misuse-of-federal-funds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> by The Washington Free Beacon.
“These allegations raise serious concerns about whether you were appropriately supervising the expenditure of federal grant funding allocated to your office and whether you took actions to conceal your office’s unlawful use of federal funds,” the letter states.
The Free Beacon reported that it reviewed a recording that revealed Amanda Timpson — an employee in the district attorney&#8217;s office — met with Willis in 2021 and warned her that one of her campaign aides “planned to use part of a $488,000 federal grant—earmarked for the creation of a Center of Youth Empowerment and Gang Prevention—to pay for ‘swag,’ computers, and travel.”
Timpson was reportedly fired less than two months after meeting with Willis. The DA’s office issued a statement after Timpson filed a whistleblower complaint, saying Timpson was a &#8220;holdover from the prior administration&#8221; who was fired because of her &#8220;failure to meet the standards of the new administration.&#8221;

A key advisor to former President Donald Trump was sentenced Thursday to serve four months in prison for doing exactly what President Joe Biden&#8217;s son Hunter did just a few weeks ago.
Peter Navarro, who advised Trump on matters of trade and manufacturing, was subpoenaed to appear before the January 6th Committee for a deposition in March of 2022 and was ordered to provide documents to the committee one month prior — neither of which he did.
The Justice Department charged Navarro as a private citizen several months later, on June 2, 2022.
In addition to his <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-white-house-official-peter-navarro-learns-sentenced-months-defying-jan-6-subpoena" target="_blank" rel="noopener">four-month sentence</a>, Navarro was ordered to pay a fine of $9,500 — reduced by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta from the six months and $200,000 the Justice Department had requested. As the DOJ noted in the request, every individual count of contempt of Congress can carry 30 days to one year in jail, and a fine of up to $100,000.

Smith is leading two prosecutions against Trump: one is a 2020 election case in which the Supreme Court is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-camp-accuses-jack-smith-of-election-interference-over-supreme-court-gambit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now considering</a> whether to take up the question of presidential immunity, and the other is a case over the former president&#8217;s handling of classified documents.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces in these cases and other legal matters that loom over his latest White House bid. He claims that politically motivated prosecutors are conducting a “witch hunt” against him.

&#8220;Accordingly, the Committee is conducting oversight in order to inform potential legislative reforms, including possible reforms regarding politically motivated prosecutions of current and former Presidents by federal prosecutors and disclosure requirements for Special Counsels and their staff,&#8221; they added.
Their new set of demands aims to secure documents and communications related to discussions about the case against Trump between DOJ offices, salaries and expenses, hiring for the special counsel&#8217;s team, and the <a href="https://www.dcd.uscourts.gov/sites/dcd/files/23sc31%20Attachment%20B-%20Documents%20unsealed%20without%20redactions.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter search warrant</a>. A new deadline for this information and past requests was set on January 4.
The DOJ told The Daily Wire it received the letter but declined to comment further.
Democrats have <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4036853-dem-leaders-outrageous-for-gop-to-demand-info-on-doj-probes-of-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> the GOP&#8217;s efforts to gather information from Smith&#8217;s endeavors, accusing Republicans of trying to interfere with law enforcement activities.

The attorney, Abbe Lowell, argued that a &#8220;public proceeding would prevent selective leaks, manipulated transcripts, doctored exhibits, or one-sided press statements.&#8221;
Comer indicated that lawmakers would be willing to have Hunter Biden testify in an open hearing at a &#8220;future date&#8221; — but insisted that the first son must also testify in the closed-door deposition scheduled for mid-December.
In an interview with Newsmax, Comer said Johnson <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2023/11/29/oversight_chairman_comer_speaker_johnson_has_our_back_to_hold_hunter_biden_in_contempt_if_he_doesnt_show_at_private_deposition.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;has our back&#8221;</a> and House Republicans would &#8220;take steps&#8221; to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress if he does not comply with the subpoena.
The top Democrat on the oversight panel, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), issued a <a href="https://oversightdemocrats.house.gov/news/press-releases/ranking-member-raskin-s-statement-on-chairman-comer-s-rejection-of-hunter-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> condemning his Republican counterparts for rejecting the open hearing offer.
&#8220;What an epic humiliation for our colleagues and what a frank confession that they are simply not interested in the facts and have no confidence in their own case or the ability of their own members to pursue it,&#8221; Raskin said.
&#8220;After the miserable failure of their impeachment hearing in September, Chairman Comer has now apparently decided to avoid all Committee hearings where the public can actually see for itself the logical, rhetorical and factual contortions they have tied themselves up in,&#8221; he added.
Stefanik made the case for why an open hearing can be counterproductive to a serious inquiry.
“An open hearing is five minutes on the Democrat side, five minutes on the Republican side. It becomes a very public press opportunity for the Democrat to politicize,” Stefanik said. “We want to go about this from a legal and factual perspective and the only way to go about that is through a deposition.”

Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) brought up the issue <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/legislation/hearings/budget-hearing-fiscal-year-2024-request-department-justice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">during a House Appropriations Committee hearing</a>, noting that he is also a member of the judiciary panel led by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) that has oversight of the Justice Department.
&#8220;My chairman, Mr. Jordan, has asked me to ask you about a letter he sent back in January, asking you to appear before his committee. He has not gotten a response to that letter,&#8221; Cline said. The congressman asked if he could &#8220;get a commitment&#8221; from Garland to respond to Jordan in the near future.
&#8220;Of course I’m going to appear before the House Judiciary Committee,&#8221; Garland said in response.
The attorney general further explained that he believes &#8220;there are discussions about scheduling that have been going on&#8221; and stressed that he did not think there were any problems in those talks.
Cline again noted there has been no formal response to the letter and pressed for a commitment to appear, after which Garland started, &#8220;I am willing. More than willing.&#8221;
Jordan <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-01-17-jdj-to-garland-doj-outstanding-requests.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sent a letter to Garland</a> in mid-January that said several requests for documents and information, dating back to before Republicans took control of the House this session of Congress, remained outstanding.
There are a number of issues House Judiciary Republicans are looking into, including immigration law, the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump&#8217;s Mar-a-Lago residence, and the treatment of journalists.

The Justice Department issued a combative response, saying the subpoenas were <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/doj-fires-back-at-jim-jordan-over-wray-garland-subpoenas/ar-AA17iWh8?ocid=msedgntp&amp;cvid=0ff227f856ac462a83d83862e02affee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;premature&#8221;</a> because the agency &#8220;offered to engage with the Committee and provide information voluntarily.&#8221;
The House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government issued a <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-03-21-school-board-documents-interim-report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">preliminary staff report</a> this month that found, based on materials obtained through the subpoenas, that federal law enforcement had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/weaponization-panel-finds-no-legitimate-basis-for-doj-school-board-memo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;no legitimate basis&#8221;</a> for Garland&#8217;s <a href="https://www.justice.gov/ag/page/file/1438986/download" target="_blank" rel="noopener">memo</a> in October 2021 sharing plans to have the FBI, U.S. attorneys, and others to meet and strategize about addressing threats to school officers around the country.
Republicans in particular have raised concerns that the Biden administration was inappropriately targeting parents speaking out at school board meetings. During his exchange on Wednesday with Cline, Garland insisted the memo was &#8220;aimed at violence and threats of violence&#8221; and not &#8220;aimed at parents protesting to their school boards.&#8221;

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said on Monday that Jankowicz, who achieved <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/my-ears-want-to-commit-suicide-greg-gutfeld-bashes-thought-police-over-new-chiefs-mary-poppins-mash-up" target="_blank" rel="noopener">viral fame and mockery for</a> her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-disinfo-czar-mocked-over-viral-musical-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video singing</a> about the manipulation of information to the tune of the “Mary Poppins” song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,&#8221; and two other targets for subpoenas ignored voluntary requests for a transcribed interview.
&#8220;We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collect information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights,&#8221; Jordan wrote in his <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-03-06-jankowicz-deposition-subpoena-cover-letter.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter to Jankowicz and her lawyer</a>s.

Chip Slaven, the former interim executive director and CEO of the National School Boards Association (NSBA), and Viola Garcia, the former President of the NSBA, also received subpoenas.
They &#8220;co-signed the September 2021 letter to President Biden requesting federal law enforcement assistance to target parents voicing concerns at local school board meetings,&#8221; a press release from Jordan&#8217;s office said. &#8220;That letter led to an October 4, 2021, memorandum that directed the FBI to establish a &#8216;threat tag&#8217; to investigate Americans.&#8221;
Jankowicz is the former executive director of the Department of Homeland Security&#8217;s (DHS) Disinformation Governance Board, which was <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2022/08/24/following-hsac-recommendation-dhs-terminates-disinformation-governance-board" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disbanded last year</a> in the face of intense criticism by Republicans.

In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RV66xYwukOk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video posted to YouTube</a> last week, Jankowicz claimed the board was subject to &#8220;baseless claims&#8221; that it was an Orwellian &#8220;Ministry of Truth&#8221; and she was President Joe Biden&#8217;s &#8220;chief censor.&#8221;
Jankowicz said her job really was meant &#8220;to make sure different entities within DHS were coordinated, to bring the latest research to bear in the Department, and to help the Department set up policies to ensure its existing counter-disinformation work was grounded in American values: privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties.&#8221;
Though the focus of the video was to <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/ex-biden-administration-disinformation-czar-crowdfunding-lawsuit-to-hold-fox-accountable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promote a crowdfunding effort</a> to sue Fox News over coverage of her, Jankowicz also claimed Jordan lied about her and the work that she has done, <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/ex-biden-administration-disinformation-czar-crowdfunding-lawsuit-to-hold-fox-accountable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to National Review</a>.
The Daily Wire reached out to Lawrence &amp; Bundy LLC, which Jordan indicated was her legal representation in his letter, for comment. The Daily Wire also reached out to NSBA for comment.
