I am one of countless women who are fighting a battle that was never meant to be ours alone. My journey began at the tender age of 17 when I brought my first child into this world without the safety net of family support. Today, I am the mother of three beautiful children, who are my heart and soul. I worked tirelessly in my twenties, juggling three jobs while attending night school to earn a bachelor’s degree. This pursuit for a better life left me with $60,000 in student debt — a shadow that looms large over my future.
Today, I gross $6,000 a month, working 15-20 hours of overtime each week. It’s an income I once idolized and aspired to during my studies, believing it was the key to making a name for myself. Yet, the harsh reality is that after taxes, $2,400 in rent, $800 in health insurance, $700 in childcare for my toddler, $400 in utilities, $250 in car insurance, and another $400 in legal fees each month — stemming from a bitter custody battle with my ex-husband — I find myself $1,900 in the red every month. I receive $400 in child support, but it barely scratches the surface of what’s needed.
I share these detailed financial numbers to underscore the stark reality that we are all confronting in this country. This isn&#8217;t just my struggle — it&#8217;s the shared plight of countless Americans burdened by an unforgiving economic system.
My car payment is an additional burden, an expensive necessity because financing a vehicle was cheaper than paying any amount in full for something I would own. I am using old food stamp money I had saved up for food when I lost my job last year, but that is dwindling and will run out in a month or so. Soon, I will have no money for food.
In the midst of these struggles, I watch in despair as politicians spend more time in political arenas fighting amongst themselves, rather than putting the needs of Americans like me at the forefront. I feel forgotten, as if my reality is not important to those who profit from the political use of the hurt that people like me endure.
I find myself ensnared in a relentless cycle, each day feeling like I am shackled in a form of modern-day slavery — laboring endlessly, knowing deep down that no matter how fiercely I fight, breaking free seems impossible. It&#8217;s as if my very essence is owned, my labor dictated, my freedom stolen by an unyielding system. This economy, this broken system, holds me captive, squeezing every ounce of strength from my soul as I desperately struggle to break free from the chains of my invisible master.

I write this not only as a call for change, but out of personal desperation. I hope that by voicing my struggles, I can somehow make sense of the daily battles I face, and in doing so, find a way to make them more bearable. Each word is a plea, a testament to the resilience I must muster every day, yearning for a glimmer of hope amidst the overwhelming darkness.
I am exhausted — mentally, physically, and emotionally. It feels as though all my energy is spent on mere survival and my relationship with my children suffers because of it. My health is deteriorating, and I can’t afford the copay to seek help. I make too much to qualify for state assistance, but not enough to survive.
In desperation, I&#8217;ve resorted to taking out small credit cards with excruciating interest rates, just to afford basic necessities. Yet, even these lifelines slip from my grasp as I let payments lapse, unable to keep up with the relentless financial demands. Each month, I sink deeper into a quicksand of debt, watching helplessly as it pulls me further under.
Every day, I send out numerous job applications, hoping to break through the algorithmic barriers that online hiring processes have erected. In a desperate bid to gain an edge, I pay for subscriptions to job board websites, yet the opportunities seem scarce in a sea where everyone is striving for the same lifeline. It&#8217;s a bitter pill to swallow knowing my teenage son has more in his savings than I do, and I wrestle with the urge to borrow from him just to afford basic necessities like laundry detergent.
I see women my age turning to platforms like OnlyFans, tempted by the possibility of financial relief. I hold onto my faith, my dignity, and my love for my children as a shield against that reality. Yet, the temptation lurks as bills pile up and my credit score plummets. Emails from creditors with &#8220;Payment Declined&#8221; messages haunt my inbox. My bank account teeters at $3, and payday is a mere cycle of temporary relief before the next wave of bills crashes in.
Each month, I face the agonizing decision of which bills to pay and which to defer, forced to prioritize their importance to my family&#8217;s immediate well-being. This constant juggling act leaves me perpetually behind, always scrambling to catch up, yet never quite able to break free. It&#8217;s a relentless cycle that chips away at my resolve, leaving me feeling defeated and powerless.
I ask you: How can it be that earning $60,000 to $70,000 a year leaves me scrapping for survival? Why are hardworking people like me stuck in a system that seems to reward the few at the expense of the many?
Each day, the dream of owning my own home slips further away. With every missed payment, my credit score plummets, and any chance of building savings evaporates. The soaring prices of homes stretch far beyond my reach, transforming the American Dream into a distant mirage that taunts me from the horizon.
My heart aches as I watch illegal immigrants walk into this country and receive more support than I do. I cry in solitude, locked in my bathroom, journaling and praying for change. This is not just my story, but the story of many women in America who are slowly being crushed under the weight of an unyielding system.
I am choosing to vote for Donald Trump because I yearn for a life where my hard work truly counts, where I can live on my own terms without depending on government handouts just to survive in a system that those in power have broken. I implore those who share my struggles to make the same choice, recognizing that more government band-aids will only lead to restricted freedoms and make it increasingly difficult to get ahead. We need to reclaim our autonomy and ensure our labor reaps the rewards it deserves.
I&#8217;m not seeking handouts or &#8220;free government money&#8221; — I&#8217;m demanding real, substantial change. I vote conservative because I believe in a future where dedication and determination pave the way to personal success and dignity. We need policies that uplift working mothers, honor our contributions, and empower us to provide for our children without sacrificing our health and well-being.
This is a plea for action, for reform, and for a future where we are not punished for striving for better. America, the land of opportunity, must become a reality, not just a dream. Change is not a luxury; it is a necessity for mothers, for families, and for Americans like me.

A federal appeals court on Thursday temporarily shut down President Joe Biden’s nearly half-trillion dollar plan to cancel or lower student debt by transferring it to taxpayers.
The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca8.109302/gov.uscourts.ca8.109302.805045608.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paused</a> Biden&#8217;s Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan in response to a petition from a group of red states led by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey. The petitioners <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca8.109302/gov.uscourts.ca8.109302.805041888.0.pdf">asked</a> the court to &#8220;enter an immediate administrative stay of Defendants’ actions to prevent millions of dollars in irreparable harm.&#8221;
&#8220;Just as this Court did last time Defendants tried to mass cancel nearly $500 billion in student loan debt,&#8221; the petition reads.
The states sued Biden over the SAVE Plan, which Bailey said would cost taxpayers $475 billion by transferring debt taken out by wealthy, elite college graduates to the working class.
The SAVE plan would lower student loan payments by up to 50% and forgive any unpaid balance after a certain number of years. 
In a separate lawsuit, a lower court in Kansas previously granted an injunction blocking some of the plan, and the Biden administration appealed to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, which set it aside. That case has since been appealed to the Supreme Court.
A Missouri court also blocked part of Biden’s plan, involving outright student loan forgiveness,  and the state appealed to the Eighth Circuit. The Eighth Circuit’s injunction appears to block implementation of the rule in its entirety during litigation, a sign that the court views Missouri’s case as strong.
By overreaching and ignoring Congress&#8217; authority over the federal purse, the Biden administration may have actually rolled back even more longstanding student loan forgiveness programs.
&#8220;Defendants chose to streamline previous plans under one &#8216;umbrella&#8217; regulation,&#8221; the appeal reads. &#8220;Defendants are thus on the horns of a dilemma: they must either present their current actions as a new plan that is unlawful because it did not go through notice and comment, or they must acknowledge that they are forgiving loans under regulatory provisions that the district court preliminarily enjoined.&#8221;
Missouri’s AG was joined by counterparts in Arkansas, Florida, North Dakota, and Ohio.
Biden has boasted that he forgave student debt despite the courts trying to stop him.
In recent days, the Department of Education sent the latest of multiple <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-to-send-email-reminding-150k-student-loan-borrowers-he-got-them-off-the-hook" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emails to borrowers</a> that read like taxpayer-funded campaign messages, giving Biden credit for forgiving the loans while blaming Republicans for objecting. The injunction will deal a blow to efforts to use the program to curry votes prior to the election.
In June 2023, the Supreme Court struck down another of Biden’s student loan forgiveness efforts. Biden had sought to use a post-9/11 bill that gave the president powers to &#8220;waive or modify any statutory or regulatory provision applicable to the student financial assistance programs under title IV of the [Education Act] as the Secretary deems necessary in connection with a war or other military operation or national emergency.” The court said this law was not relevant to the present circumstance.
Nevertheless, Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-ignores-supreme-court-cancels-another-74000-student-loans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed more student debt forgiveness</a> in January 2024.

A graduate of St. Cloud State University is suing her alma mater after learning that she was charged a mandatory fee for an activist group that pushes liberal political speech.
Tayah Lackie filed <a href="https://libertyjusticecenter.org/wp-content/uploads/Complaint-ECF-1-5-9-24.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a federal lawsuit</a> with the help of the Liberty Justice Center and the Upper Midwest Law Center, The College Fix <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/college-grad-sues-to-stop-mandatory-student-fee-that-supports-liberal-activist-group/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The lawsuit argues that this mandatory fee violates Lackie’s First Amendment rights to free speech.
The lawsuit alleges that the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, of which St. Cloud State is a part, “mandates that every student who attends a school in that system be a member of, and pay union dues to, a group called Students United – a private corporation created for the purpose of engaging in political speech, which advocates for and takes positions on controversial policies and legislation, and which purports to speak on all students’ behalf.”
The lawsuit notes that Students United has “aggressively advocated for the abolition of student debt – including through a website called “Fck Student Debt” and a Twitter/X account, @FckStudentDebt.”
Because of the mandatory fee, every student who attends a school in the Minnesota State University system “is forced to associate with and subsidize Students United and its speech – even if the student disagrees with it.”
Lackie noted that she only learned about the fee after she graduated when she was looking at her “account statement” and saw the deducted fee. Lackie, who “paid [her] own way without taking on debt,” is opposed to abolishing student debt and other policies for which Students United has advocated.
Jacob Huebert, president of the Liberty Justice Center, told the Fix that “a victory in this case would establish that state colleges and universities cannot force students to pay fees to an activist group just to be allowed to attend.”
The current fee is just “80 cents per credit,” the lawsuit says, which amounts to $9.60 for an undergraduate degree, which requires 120 credits.
Lackie says she received only minimal information about the charge.
The lawsuit also revealed that 76% of Student United’s funding comes from the mandatory fees charged to students. The lawsuit says students “are not informed of any right they have not to associate with Students United” and are not “given any opportunity to waive any right not to associate with Students United.”
Minnesota law requires colleges and universities in its system to recognize a statewide student association and draw fees for the organization.

A staffer for a Democratic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/congress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">congresswoman</a> crowed on social media on Thursday about getting his student loans forgiven by the Biden administration, saying &#8220;elections matter,&#8221; but it turns out his boss previously opposed cancelling student loans.
Representative Marcy Kaptur&#8217;s (D-OH) communications director Ben Kamens <a href="https://x.com/BeeKamens/status/1803490997457789263" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">posted</a> a photo of the letter informing him that his student debt had been forgiven.
&#8220;Just got a call to let me know my student debt has been canceled,&#8221; Kamens wrote.
&#8220;This is why elections matter. Thanks @JoeBiden,&#8221; he added.
The letter showed a total of $8,250 in student loans from 2010 were forgiven Kamens.
&#8220;Congratulations! The Biden-Harris Administration has forgiven your federal student loan(s),&#8221; read the letter from Nelnet, the country&#8217;s largest servicer of student loans.
Back in 2022, Kaptur, an Ohio Democrat, <a href="https://sanduskyregister.com/news/404779/kaptur-criticizes-student-loan-debt-relief/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> the Biden administration&#8217;s plan to erase billions of dollars in student loan debt.
“What about the people who paid off their loans?” Kaptur said. “What about the people who didn’t rack up that level of debt? What about people who put college on hold? What about the systemic problems we have in the student loan program, where you walk into an admissions office at a college and they give you a credit card, and you get the money, and you can spend the money on a car or a vacation or whatever, and then the student doesn’t graduate. There’s a lot of issues.”
Kaptur also questioned whether the president has the legal authority to push forward with the massive loan forgiveness plan, saying President Biden likely &#8220;overreached his authority.&#8221;

“There was no consultation with Congress,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The last time I checked the Constitution, you can’t impact the bottom line of the federal treasury without some bill moving through Congress. I think the president probably overreached his authority on this one. My expectation is it will go to the courts. I’m not sure how that will happen.”
However, Kaptur later <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/20/us-news/aide-to-rep-marcy-kaptur-boasts-of-receiving-biden-student-loan-bailout-which-his-boss-opposed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> twice against House measures criticizing the administration&#8217;s student loan cancellation.
Meanwhile, the criticism online was swift on Thursday.
One X user <a href="https://x.com/Mar__G_3/status/1803557104847859802" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that Kamens makes over $90,000 a year, <a href="https://www.legistorm.com/person/Benjamin_A_Kamens/361249.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Legistorm, but still apparently expected taxpayers to pay his debt.
Others pointed out that Kamens had previously posted about holding Philadelphia Eagles season tickets and that the address on his loan forgiveness letter was for a house valued at over half a million dollars.
&#8220;You are jubilant at having foisted your student debt on other taxpayers. Meanwhile, a cursory spin through your profile in just recent times show multiple examples of extraneous expenditures that could have gone toward your years long debt. Nice,&#8221; one X user <a href="https://x.com/LisasFineLines/status/1803519366455296227" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>.
Kamens switched his X account to private mode after his post garnered attention.
Last summer, the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/supreme-court-delivers-defeat-to-biden-admin-on-student-loan-forgiveness">struck down</a> Biden’s $430 billion student debt relief policy that would have forgiven the student debt of about 40 million people. The high court ruled 6-3 that the HEROES Act of 2003 does not give Biden the authority to cancel billions in student loan debt.
Just weeks later, however, Biden announced the Education Department’s Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, which is <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/07/17/bidens-new-student-loan-forgiveness-to-cost-475-billion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expected</a> to cost taxpayers about $475 billion over the next decade.

Dem Hill Staffer Celebrates Getting Biden Student Loan Cancellation, But His Boss Opposed It

Generation Z&#8217;s efforts to be financially independent are slowed by their mounting personal debt, a problem that appears only to be getting worse for the youngest adults.
Gen Z young adults in their early to mid-20s, most of whom have just entered the workforce or are trying to do so, are plagued by stubbornly low wages and record inflation over the past few years, pushing them into debt, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/gen-z-credit-card-debt-inflation-2f2f927e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Those born between 1997 and 2012 are generally considered to be part of Generation Z.
Many turn to credit cards just to cover the basics like food and rent.
For young adults 22 to 24, the average credit card balance was $2,834 in the last quarter of 2023, according to credit-reporting agency TransUnion. Back in 2013, the average balance for this group was only $2,248, adjusted for inflation.
Rent is likely the main driver of young people&#8217;s climbing debt. It is now <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/its-now-often-cheaper-to-rent-than-buy-property#">cheaper</a> to rent than to buy property.
Thanks to rising housing prices and mortgage rates, renting a two-bedroom residence is cheaper than buying that property for about 89% of Americans, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20231128140139/https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2023/11/28/is-it-cheaper-to-rent-or-buy-property" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to a November analysis by The Economist.
In March, the median rent in the U.S. was $1,987, up nearly 22% compared to the past four years, <a href="https://www.rent.com/research/average-rent-price-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Rent, an online rental marketplace that targets young adults.
Meanwhile, wages have not increased nearly that much.
Last year, the median annual wage for recent college graduates was $60,000, not much higher than $58,858 in 2020, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/gen-z-credit-card-debt-inflation-2f2f927e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Federal Reserve of New York data.
Meanwhile, after the pandemic, credit card companies made it easier for people to get credit cards. This led to more Gen Z young adults opening accounts — they were more likely to have at least one credit card compared with millennials a decade ago, according to data from TransUnion.

During the pandemic, many people&#8217;s credit scores, including Gen Z&#8217;s, rose as stimulus checks hit bank accounts and many places to spend money remained temporarily shuttered. However, rising interest rates have driven down both Gen Z&#8217;s and millennials&#8217; credit scores since the pandemic.
Student debt is another huge debt driver among today&#8217;s young adults. Many leftist loan holders demand taxpayers foot the bill for their loan forgiveness. At the same time, critics blame former students for taking on an unreasonable amount of debt at 18, even though, in many cases, their parents assured them that it was a good investment and did not predict the soaring inflation of the last few years.
This confluence of financial stressors is causing young people to delay marriage, having children, and homeownership until they can support themselves, not to mention dependents.

President Joe Biden, facing poor polling numbers for a Democratic candidate with young voters, announced another student loan bailout program this week ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
His new plan comes after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked his attempt to this last year because it was illegal.
Biden&#8217;s new plan would take taxpayer money to wipe out the student loan debt of over 30 million borrowers, the White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/04/08/fact-sheet-president-biden-announces-new-plans-that-would-provide-relief-to-borrowers-disproportionately-burdened-by-student-loan-debt/">said</a>. The administration said that the actions were specifically designed to provide relief to black and Latino borrowers who attended community college and who are financially vulnerable because they took out debt but never had the chance to complete their degree.
The plan would provide relief to borrowers who owe more than they did at the start of repayment; borrowers who are otherwise eligible for loan forgiveness, but have not yet applied; borrowers who first entered repayment many years ago; borrowers who enrolled in low-financial-value programs; and borrowers experiencing hardship paying back their loans.
&#8220;Today, too many Americans, especially young people, are saddled with unsustainable debts in exchange for a college degree,&#8221; Biden said from an event in Wisconsin. &#8220;The ability for working and middle class folks to repay their student loans has become so burdensome that a lot can&#8217;t repay it for even decades after being in school.&#8221;
&#8220;Even when they work hard and pay their student loans, their debt increases, not diminishes,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Too many people feel the strain and stress wondering if they can get married, have their first child, start a family because even if they get by, they still have this crushing, crushing debt, and it&#8217;s not just a drag on them.&#8221;
Biden claimed that people couldn&#8217;t buy homes because they had to repay their student loans when most people can&#8217;t afford homes because of high interests that were sparked by the inflation that his American Rescue Plan caused.
&#8220;Tens of millions of people&#8217;s debt was literally about to get canceled, but then some of my Republican friends and elected officials and special interests sued us and the Supreme Court blocked us, but that didn&#8217;t&#8211;well, that didn&#8217;t stop us,&#8221; he said. &#8220;No, I mean it sincerely. We continue to find alternative paths to reduce student debt payment that are not challenging.&#8221;

Just to make sure the borrowers of student loans know whom to thank for escaping responsibility for fully paying back their student loans, President Biden will send over 150,000 borrowers a <a href="https://static.politico.com/40/46/a57929b4456089c00c15abbd1214/02212024-potus-forgiveness-email.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal email</a> reminding them that he’s their guy.
The plan to let the borrowers off the hook will cost the American taxpayers $1.2 billion, Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/21/biden-student-loan-borrowers-00142343" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, adding that the administration has cancelled $138 billion in debt for almost 4 million borrowers since Biden took office in 2021.
“Congratulations—all or a portion of your federal student loans will be forgiven because you qualify for early loan forgiveness under my Administration&#8217;s SAVE Plan,” the email states. “From day one of my Administration, I vowed to fix student loan programs so higher education can be a ticket to the middle class—not a barrier to opportunity.”
More bragging from Biden follows:

This action is on top of everything else my Administration has achieved for students and borrowers. We have already approved nearly $137 billion in debt cancellation for 3.7 million borrowers through various actions, secured the largest increase to Pell Grants in a decade, fixed the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program so borrowers who go into public service get the relief they are entitled to under the law, and we are pursuing a new path to deliver more debt relief to as many borrowers as possible.

According to a senior administration official, the emails are “an important way to communicate with borrowers, to make sure emails get opened, and to raise the profile of the benefits that we’re offering, and encourage more borrowers to take advantage of them.”
Last September, Republicans tried to stop Biden’s SAVE plan — which allows a majority of students who got loans for their bachelor’s degree to avoid paying off their loans and would result in only $0.50 on every $1 borrowed being repaid — by <a href="https://www.help.senate.gov/ranking/newsroom/press/ranking-member-cassidy-thune-cornyn-colleagues-introduce-cra-to-overturn-bidens-newest-student-loan-scheme" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offering</a> a Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn it.

On Friday, the Biden administration <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/01/19/statement-by-president-joe-biden-on-nearly-5-billion-in-additional-student-debt-cancellation-for-74000-borrowers/">announced</a> they were canceling the loans of another 74,000 student loan borrowers, hiking the total number of people who have gotten their debt canceled to over 3.7 million Americans.
The Biden administration has been ignoring the Supreme Court, which struck down Biden&#8217;s student loan relief plan last June, because it had not been approved by Congress. The Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision resulted from the six conservative justices voting to strike down the plan while the three leftist justices opposed them. The Biden administration had cited the 2003 Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students Act (HEROES Act) to buttress its argument in favor of the student loans, as it stated the loans were permitted in case of a “national emergency,” but Chief Justice John Roberts said the 2003 act was “clearly before a department secretary can unilaterally alter large sections of the American economy.”
In announcing the new student loan recipients, President Biden claimed his administration was acting legally, “My Administration is able to deliver relief to these borrowers – and millions more – because of fixes we made to broken student loan programs that were preventing borrowers from getting relief they were entitled to under the law. Today’s announcement comes on top of all we’ve been able to achieve for students and student loan borrowers in the past few years.”
“And, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision on our student debt relief plan, we are continuing to pursue an alternative path to deliver student debt relief to as many borrowers as possible as quickly as possible,” he stated, adding, “From Day One of my Administration, I vowed to improve the student loan system so that a higher education provides Americans with opportunity and prosperity – not unmanageable burdens of student loan debt. I won’t back down from using every tool at our disposal to get student loan borrowers the relief they need to reach their dreams.”
The 2003 Heroes Act, which came after the U.S. went to war following the 9/11 attacks, stated that the Secretary of Education could “waive or modify any statutory or regulatory provision applicable to the student financial assistance programs under title IV of the [Education Act] as the Secretary deems necessary in connection with a war or other military operation or national emergency.” The Secretary could issue such waivers or modifications only “as may be necessary to ensure” that “recipients of student financial assistance under title IV of the [Education Act affected by a national emergency] are not placed in a worse position financially in relation to that financial assistance because of [the national emergency].”

The majority opinion of the Court <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/22pdf/22-506_nmip.pdf">asserted</a>, “The text of the HEROES Act does not authorize the Secretary’s loan forgiveness program. The Secretary’s power under the Act to ‘modify’ does not permit ‘basic and fundamental changes in the scheme’ designed by Congress. MCI Telecommunications Corp. v. American Telephone &amp; Telegraph Co., 512 U. S. 218, 225. Instead, ‘modify’ carries ‘a connotation of increment or limitation,’ and must be read to mean ‘to change moderately or in minor fashion.’ That is how the word is ordinarily used and defined, and the legal definition is no different.”

Some student loan borrowers are refusing to make payments in protest, hoping they can force the Biden administration to cancel all student loan debt.
According to an Intelligent.com <a href="https://www.intelligent.com/1-in-10-borrowers-who-havent-resumed-student-loan-payments-are-boycotting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survey</a> of 1,000 federal student loan borrowers, about 25% <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/01/17/news/some-student-loan-borrowers-refusing-to-pay-out-of-protest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> they had not made any payments, and 9% of those who had not paid at all said they were not paying to pressure the government into canceling their debt.
According to the survey, about 44% of those boycotting their payments said they believe their protest will result in the government canceling at least some federal student loan debt, the survey found.
About 28% said they think the boycott is &#8220;likely&#8221; to succeed in getting the government to cancel all student loan debt. As many as 86% said they think it is &#8220;very&#8221; or &#8220;somewhat likely&#8221; that the boycott will bring attention to the student loan issue.
The pandemic pause on student loan payments expired in October after more than three years.
Close to nine million people missed their first payment, the Department of Education <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nearly-9-million-student-loan-borrowers-missed-first-payment-after-pause#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last month. That means about 40% of the 22 million people who had student loan payments due in October still had not made a payment by well into November.

Leftist lawmakers and activists have long called for broad student debt relief, and for years have urged the Biden administration to grant it. Critics argue that forgiving student loans is unfair to those who sacrificed to pay off their loans, especially since taxpayers ultimately pay for any government-funded debt relief.
About 69% of the borrowers who had not made a payment after the pause ended said they could not afford to do so, the Intelligent.com survey found. About 18% of borrowers who had not started making payments again said they planned to wait until September, which is when the more severe consequences for missing payments kick in.
For the next few months, the Biden administration has an “on-ramp” program to protect borrowers from the “harshest consequences” of missed payments such as delinquency, default, and mandatory collections.

Close to nine million people missed the first <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/student-loans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">student loan</a> payment they were supposed to make after the pandemic pause ended this fall, the Department of Education said Friday.
That amounts to about 40% of the 22 million people who had student loan payments due in October. The nearly nine million borrowers had not made their payments by well into November.
For comparison, less than 26% of borrowers missed their payment in October 2019, before the pandemic pause went into effect.
The payment pause began in March 2020 in the thick of the COVID pandemic. It ended in October after more than three years.

In an email to student loan holders, the administration even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/scotus-got-it-wrong-biden-administration-tells-student-borrowers-in-email" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the Supreme Court “got it wrong” on student debt.

Another move the administration has taken is creating the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan, which cuts monthly payments to $0 for millions of low-income borrowers.
On Friday, the Education Department said that more than 5.5 million borrowers are already enrolled in the SAVE Plan, including 2.9 million who do not have to make any payments.

As I have made abundantly clear, I cannot get on board with coddle culture or new-age parenting. New-age parenting has effectively created a society of young adults who cannot come to terms with reality because they have been coddled their entire lives. But it’s all they have ever known. College campuses are full of students who don’t have any idea what hard work is and they walk around actively pursuing victimization, as oxymoronic as that seems. Not only do I not support coddle culture, but I also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kids-entertainment-out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speak out against it</a>. However, what I do support is coddle-cultured kids entering the real world. When these kids are met with reality and forced to leave the made-up world they’ve been living in, I predict they will develop more conservative principles. All it will take is their past and all its beliefs crashing down around them as they get hit with a tidal wave of reality. 
Gen Z has taken to TikTok to speak out about facing reality, and after listening to what some of them have to say, I stan Gen Z. Take 25-year-old Alison Johnson (<a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@fitnesswithalison?lang=en">@fitnesswithalison</a>), who lamented her marketing degree since it’s gotten her absolutely nowhere in corporate America. Where it has gotten her is $80,000 in the hole of student loan debt. On top of that, she’s discovered she doesn’t stand a chance of landing a job that pays $150,000 because the degree, as it turns out, isn’t enough. This TikTok is just comical. In her defense, Alison was told to go to university, have some fun, and everything will be great. Alison has “her literal business marketing degree.” How is she not making $200,000 a year by now? That is stressful for Alison, she is frustrated, and I feel Alison’s frustration — because these kids are deluded. They have been made to believe that life is just going to be really easy. They’ve been told all their lives to follow the right steps: go to college, get a degree, and watch your life fall into place. They don’t want to work hard. And why should they? They’ve never had to.
Situations like this always remind me of a young woman I went to college with. She came from an extremely wealthy family, and her parents paid for absolutely everything — while I worked a full-time job as a full-time student because my parents paid for nothing. They didn’t have the money to send me to college, so I worked and took out student loans to be able to go. This friend and I became fast and best friends back in my liberal days. We moved into the city after graduation, and we had both started working.

Neither one of us had in money, but her parents were paying for her apartment in Manhattan, until she they called her one day to give her an update on their future payment plans: For six months, they would continue to pay for everything in the city; after six months, they would begin weaning her off, only paying for 75% for a few months, then 50%, then 25%, until they would stop paying for anything at all. I was at the apartment after she had this phone call, and as we sat and talked it over, she cried and cried. She was devastated but she was also angry at her parents for doing this to her. (“Doing this to her” was how she viewed it.) I will never forget what she said to me: “If they wanted to teach me responsibility, they shouldn’t have gotten me an f-ing pony when I turned two.” I felt bad for her because she had a point. How could they expect her to understand the real world when they had gifted her a pony at two-years-old? Whereas I was a little rough around the edges, so to speak, I’d had a job since I was 15. And I was much better equipped for the real world. 
When it comes to some of the Gen Z videos on this topic, your instinct may very well be to laugh, and you may have to stifle that laughter while watching Brielle (<a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@brielleybelly123" target="_blank" rel="noopener">@brielleybelly123</a>). In one of Brielle’s TikTok, she is crying because she is finding that working nine to five is quite a bit harder than she expected. She admits she is probably “being so dramatic and annoying,” but she is in her first full-time job after college, and she is commuting to the city which “takes forever to get there” but there is no way she is “going to be able to afford living in the city right now, so that’s off the table. Like, duh!” She says she gets on the train at 7:30 a.m. and doesn’t get home until 6:15 at the earliest because “you don’t get off at 5:00 … but like, I literally get off, it’s pitch black, like I don’t have energy.” She doesn’t have time or energy to workout, cook, or see friends, and she definitely doesn’t have time to meet a guy. I would actually like to give Brielle a hug. I can sense her sincerity. We make fun of Gen Z, but it’s our fault we are producing a generation who cannot handle the real world because we made everything so comfortable for them. They aren’t prepared. Long gone are the stories of our grandparents who told us they walked to school in the snow uphill both ways. My grandfather got up before 5:00 a.m. to work on the farm. Brielle is having a hard time getting to the train by 7:30 a.m. for her commute to work. She feels like her life is over because she actually has to work, and we have conditioned her to this. So we can laugh all we want, but it’s not her fault. It is the generations before Gen Z who have produced these individuals who have just been weakened to the point they have no sense of reality. 
But I believe if we give these people some time to meet the real world, to get acquainted with it, and to suffer in it, the things we conservatives are saying will sound much more appealing to them. They will eventually <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/podcasts/candace" target="_blank" rel="noopener">come across a podcast</a> episode and realize that had they been realistic with their degree and debt and what that would mean for them in the world, they might have chosen a different path. Soon enough, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lifes-tough-get-a-helmet-man" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conservatives who sounded so harsh</a> are, instead, going to sound like people they should have been listening to all along. We will have people we can convert. That’s my opinion and prediction. 
Give them some time in the real world, and they come around to see our perspective.

Companies are scrapping their college degree requirement as sky-high tuition costs keep four-year degrees out of reach for many young people.
Several U.S. companies including Google, Walmart, IBM, Bank of America, and Accenture have <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/us-companies-eliminate-college-degrees-requirement-school-costs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> plans to slash the number of their jobs that require college degrees.
At Walmart, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/us-companies-eliminate-college-degrees-requirement-school-costs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hundreds</a> of corporate roles no longer require a college degree, the company saying last month that it wants to remove &#8220;unnecessary barriers&#8221; to career advancement.
Walmart also <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/retail/walmart-dropping-college-degree-requirements-corporate-jobs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> it will waive the college degree requirement if a candidate can demonstrate they developed the necessary skills through previous experience or another kind of learning.
College tuition prices have been rising for years, pricing more and more families out of higher education and causing students to take out tens of thousands of dollars in massive student loans.
Some experts say companies placing less emphasis on degrees is a sign that companies are focusing more on skills.
&#8220;If you are going to work for a tech company, what&#8217;s more important? A college degree or practical experience that you can code,&#8221; Entrepreneur Ted Jenkin, CEO and founder of Exit Stage Left Advisors and Oxygen Financia, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/us-companies-eliminate-college-degrees-requirement-school-costs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News.
&#8220;It&#8217;s becoming clear with the out-of-control cost of college education that the very word &#8216;degree&#8217; is getting watered down and companies want to hire people who can prove they can get things done,&#8221; Jenkins said.
Google has been scrapping the degree requirement for certain positions for several years. About 93% of Google&#8217;s job postings included a degree requirement in 2017, but by 2021 that number had dropped to 77%, according to a Burning Glass Institute <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/6197797102be715f55c0e0a1/t/6202bda7f1ceee7b0e9b7e2f/1644346798760/The+Emerging+Degree+Reset+%2822.02%29Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>.
For entry-level positions, Google also allows its online certificate program to replace the four-year degree requirement.
Apple has also seen an 18% drop in its job postings that include a degree requirement — in 2017, 88% required a bachelor&#8217;s degree, but that dropped to 72% in 2021, according to the report.
IBM <a href="https://www.ibm.com/policy/education-skills/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> in 2021 that it was stripping bachelor’s degree requirements for more than half of its U.S. job openings, saying the company was moving to &#8220;prioritize skills over specific degrees.&#8221;
Bank of America <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/25/companies-eliminate-college-degree-requirement-to-draw-needed-workers.html#:~:text=Christie%20Gragnani%2DWoods%2C%20senior%20vice,its%20Pathways%20program%20in%202018" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last year that it dropped college-degree requirements for most of its entry-level jobs.
At Accenture, a Dublin-based information technology services and consulting company, 80% of the company&#8217;s 1,200 employees do not have four-year degrees. Instead, Accenture has an apprenticeship program.
