Earlier this month, several school districts voted to take the book off school library shelves. Per <a href="https://le.utah.gov/~2024/bills/static/HB0029.html">Utah law</a>, if at least three public school districts or five charter schools ban a book due to “objective sensitive” or “pornographic” material, this means the restriction will apply to schools across the state.
While the collection inspired the films “Stand By Me” and “The Shawshank Redemption,” Utah officials said the decision was based on the book&#8217;s content rather than its literary reputation. 
Common Sense Media <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/different-seasons">notes</a> that the book contains “prison rape” and “concentration camp rape, with foreign objects.” It is also reported to have drinking, swearing, smoking, and “vivid atrocities (rape, stabbing, shooting, burning, dismemberment).” 
Many commenters pointed out that King’s book wasn’t “banned,” but was rather made unavailable to schoolchildren, which is not the same thing.
“A book is only ‘banned’ if it becomes illegal to print/own it,” one commenter <a href="https://x.com/Matt19457010/status/2077524511398740320">noted</a>. “A school choosing to not carry a book did not ban it. If I go to a bookstore and buy two books, I have not ‘banned’ the 10,000 other books there by choosing to not own them.” 
Utah&#8217;s law has also led to the removal of other books containing graphic sexual content, including &#8220;Gender Queer&#8221; and &#8220;Let&#8217;s Talk About It.&#8221;

King, a former cocaine addict whose 1986 novel &#8220;It&#8221; depicts group sex among minors, has long promoted Democrats and leftwing causes on social media. But his defense of Platner — as well as his attempt to shift the focus to President Donald Trump&#8217;s alleged misdeeds — leaves him prominent among a rapidly dwindling group of supporters.
On Monday, Politico published a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-new-sexual-assault-accusation-rocks-maine-democrat-graham-platner?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=A+New+Sexual+Assault+Accusation+Rocks+Maine+Democrat+Graham+Platner">bombshell report</a> in which 41-year-old Maine resident Jenny Racicot recounts how Platner drunkenly broke into her house in 2021 and raped her. The report, which includes corroborating evidence from Racicot and people with whom she shared the story, seems to have been the last straw for Democrats who stuck with Platner through revelations of his offensive social media posts, Nazi tattoo, presence on an app popular among sexual predators, and allegations of abuse from other women.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-ditch-platner-over-rape-claims?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=Dems+Ditch+Platner+Over+Rape+Claims">demanded</a> that Platner drop out in a statement with fellow New York Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. The statement said that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee — which Gillibrand chairs — &#8220;will not invest in the Maine Senate race if Platner remains on the ballot.&#8221;
The Maine Democrat has also lost support from Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), two of his earliest and most ardent backers. The Maine Democratic Party also withdrew its support, as did leftist podcaster Hasan Piker. Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego (D), embroiled in a controversy of his own, also called for Platner to drop out of the race.
Platner denied Racicot&#8217;s accusations in a <a href="https://x.com/grahamformaine/status/2074214272628916296?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two-minute video message</a> shared to social media shortly after Politico&#8217;s story dropped.
“Any accusation of nonconsensual behavior is categorically false,” Platner said. “Regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting, but mindful the political reality it will inflict, we are taking time to reflect on the best path forward.&#8221;
Maine Democrats face a <a href="https://legislature.maine.gov/statutes/21-a/title21-Asec374-A.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">July 13 deadline</a> to swap Platner for another Democrat to challenge incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins.
Racicot told Politico that she &#8220;didn’t come forward sooner&#8221; due to &#8220;the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics, but not supporting him as a person.&#8221; Seeing other women come forward motivated Racicot to speak out, she says, noting that “I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person.”
&#8220;Tell you what,&#8221; King wrote on X shortly after posting his initial statement of support. &#8220;If you knew the whole truth about everyone in the Senate and House of Reps, those chambers would be dead empty. Jesus said, &#8216;Let him without sin cast the first stone.'&#8221;

Avowed leftist author Stephen King was forced to admit his error and apologize after being caught spreading lies about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
As other &#8220;progressives&#8221; on social media tried to justify the brutal assassination of Kirk at a free speech event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, King piled on by sharing a tweet that said, “He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin.’”
Multiple accounts swarmed the comments with evidence of Kirk being civil towards gay people while presenting socially conservative viewpoints and maintaining a biblical view of marriage in his personal life. 
Kirk’s fans and friends went after King, sharing clips of the TPUSA founder speaking with gay people and welcoming them to the conservative movement.
“Hey [Stephen King], you are more monstrous than any of the characters you ever came up with. Charlie was never anything but kind to me and my husband,” conservative commentator Dave Rubin <a href="https://x.com/RubinReport/status/1966299918202540515">replied</a> on X.
“We broke bread many times, and he never treated us with anything other than respect. He even came to our house not too long ago and plot twist, didn’t throw rocks at us. Write about that sometime, you hack,” he added.
“Why would Stephen King post something so blatantly false?” X owner Elon Musk wondered.
Others shared screenshots of Kirk’s previous tweets, including one that said, “I believe marriage is one man one woman. Also gay people should be welcome in the conservative movement. As Christians we are called to love everyone. I will always stand against people who wish to establish their own personal values as a reason to kick others out of the movement.”
The backlash and facts became so severe that King backtracked and apologized on Friday morning.
“I apologize for saying Charlie Kirk advocated stoning gays. What he actually demonstrated was how some people cherry-pick Biblical passages,” the horror author <a href="https://x.com/StephenKing/status/1966474125616013664">wrote</a>.

Notorious left-wing author Stephen King is claiming that guns are to blame for the horrific shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, not the fact that the shooter identified as transgender.
King made his thoughts known in a reply he wrote to Elon Musk on X. “Whether he was transgender is beside the point. The point is he had a gun,” the author insisted.

“There is a clear pattern here,” Musk said in reply to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s post identifying the shooter as a 23-year-old man claiming to be transgender. “This deranged monster targeted our most vulnerable: young children praying in their first morning Mass of the school year. This deeply sick murderer scrawled the words ‘For the Children’ and ‘Where is your God?’ and ‘Kill Donald Trump’ on a rifle magazine,” Noem wrote in her post.
King’s followers disagreed with his assessment.
“He was mentally ill and had a gun[,] dumbass. Had he been diagnosed he wouldn’t have had a gun but d***heads like you celebrate it rather than acknowledge they need treatment,” one person <a href="https://x.com/SaltyGoat17/status/1960830133838942407">wrote</a>.
“Stephen, the gun didn’t walk into a Christian school on its own. A trans-identified man did,” another popular reply said. “That’s the point. You’ll name the tool but never the ideology, because acknowledging the pattern exposes the deviance you and your party defend.”
“Stop blaming inanimate objects for the wicked choices of people you refuse to hold accountable,” the commenter continued.

The shooter in the tragedy, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman (previously Robert Westman), fired “dozens of rounds” into Annunciation Church as students were attending mass on Wednesday morning. An 8-year-old and a 10-year-old died, and 14 children and 3 adults were injured. Westman then turned the gun on himself.
Westman is the latest in a series of transgender-identifying people who have committed school shootings, including the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting in 2019 and the Covenant School Shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023.
Westman wrote in a journal entry that he was “tired of being trans” and regretted that he “brain-washed” himself. His <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-we-know-about-the-trans-identifying-gunman-who-slaughtered-catholic-school-children">personal writings</a> also included references to assassinating President Donald Trump and hatred for Jews. The deceased shooter also wrote that killing “children of innocent civilians” would give him “the most joy.”

A gaggle of notable names have ridiculed ICE for daring to enforce the nation’s immigration laws — laws supported by a majority of U.S. voters.
The agents, to date, have mostly focused on the worst offenders. Think illegal immigrants accused of heinous crimes who managed to remain free during the Biden administration.
Now, they’re being targeted by President Trump’s no-nonsense border czar Tom Homan. And progressive stars are raging everywhere they can against Team Homan. Late-night TV. Social media. Interviews.

Oswalt’s rhetoric grew uglier when it came to Trump’s border czar. The “Ratatouille” star, after hearing about death threats tied to Homan, weighed in <a href="https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:bwvd55e4hsxpuxa5ikrfgqgo/post/3lshyjaky722d?ref_src=embed">via BlueSky</a>.

The far-Left hosts at “The View” couldn’t let the ICE raids go unnoticed. The ABC squad saw the chaos encircling Los Angeles earlier this month during the open borders protests and found the <a href="https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2025/06/10/view-la-riots-were-peaceful-days-ice-brought-crisis">source of the problem</a>.
They pointed to the ICE agents, not the protesters burning cars and hurling bricks at law enforcement officers.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg says the city’s pro-illegal immigration rallies were “mostly peaceful” until ICE agents arrived on the scene. She leaned on impeccable sources for her wisdom.

She claimed “illegal” immigrants <a href="https://news.meaww.com/lizzo-sparks-backlash-over-no-such-thing-as-illegal-no-borders-anti-ice-rant-avoid-this-thinking">aren’t real</a> because no one actually owns land.

Sometimes, profanity is a celebrity’s best friend. Take Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. He <a href="https://variety.com/2025/music/news/bad-bunny-calls-out-ice-video-puerto-rico-raids-1236434813/">blasted ICE agents</a> as “motherf****rs” in a Spanish screed on Instagram, tied to a video of agents interrogating unnamed people.
“Look, those motherf——s are in these cars, RAV-4s. They’re here in Pontezuela,” he posted in Spanish.

Celebrity Nation decried the January 6 riot and demanded protesters pay a stiff price for battling beleaguered Capitol Police officers. Things are different now, apparently. They could have objected to ICE raids on different grounds, suggesting that hard-working illegals should find a path to citizenship, not a one-way ticket out of the U.S.
Instead, in the grand “Spinal Tap” tradition, they turned the incendiary rhetoric up to 11.
Worst of all, none of this is happening in a vacuum. The Department of Homeland Security says attacks on ICE agents have shot up <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/assaults-on-ice-agents-increase-500?author=Catherine+Maxwell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Assaults+on+ICE+Agents+Increase+500%25">500% in recent weeks</a>. ICE agents are routinely doxxed, forcing them to mask up to protect their loved ones.
The stars won’t stop their incendiary rhetoric, apparently, even if it gets someone hurt. Or worse.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stephen-king" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen King</a> was dragged on social media after he made an overly-broad claim about how more than two dozen of his books were supposedly banned throughout the state of Florida.
In a post on Sunday on <a href="https://x.com/StephenKing/status/1829984944321360242?t=lXtwH0OPAbDSXXP6n3-pmg&amp;s=19">X</a>, the 76-year-old horror author claimed that “Florida has banned 23 [of] my books. What the f***?” It later went viral, with more than 14 million views at the time of this publication.

The parents can go to a public library in town or any bookstore in FL and purchase or check out any book they would like including yours. Florida Department of Education spokesperson Sydney Booker also disputed the book banning claim, stating, “There are no books banned in Florida. Sexually explicit material and instruction are not suitable for schools,” <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/stephen-king-florida-book-ban-viral-post-1947396">Newsweek</a> noted.
The horror author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/stephen-king-trashed-for-making-comments-about-banned-books-does-this-include-pornography" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously was trashed</a> by online users when he encouraged kids to find and read books that had been removed from school libraries.
“I’m not sure Stephen understands how creepy this is, considering the materials that are being restricted are openly pornographic,” Nick Frietas, a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates, <a href="https://twitter.com/NickForVA/status/1615792600027652099">agreed</a>.

King’s comments come just after Hollywood activist Rob Reiner made a similar suggestion. He tweeted on Sunday that “it’s time to stop f***ing around.”
“If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down,” Reiner <a href="https://twitter.com/robreiner/status/1809982004479533307">told</a> followers.
Even close congressional allies of the president have publicly questioned whether Biden should continue his re-election bid. 
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) appeared on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet the Press&#8221; to discuss Biden&#8217;s falling poll numbers. 
“It should not be even close,” Schiff <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/meet-press-july-7-2024-n1310187">said</a>, insisting that Biden “should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump” because “Joe Biden’s running against a criminal … The only one reason it is close. And that’s the president’s age.”
Despite losing support from major donors, Biden, 81, has repeatedly voiced his intentions to remain in the race. He did so most recently during a call-in interview Monday on MSNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Morning Joe.&#8221; 
&#8220;I don&#8217;t care what those big names think,&#8221; he said, per <a href="https://www.npr.org/2024/07/08/nx-s1-5032737/biden-tells-democrats-stop-speculation">NPR</a>, saying he was getting &#8220;frustrated…by the elites in the party.&#8221;

“The Marvels” was a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/female-led-the-marvels-has-worst-ever-opening-weekend-in-mcu-history">massive disappointment</a> for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marvel">MCU</a>, pulling in just $47 million during its opening weekend — the lowest in the franchise&#8217;s history. The poor showing is partly blamed on multiple factors, including the actors’ strike in Hollywood and general superhero movie fatigue. 
Social media users objected to King&#8217;s implication that the female-led film starring Brie Larson, which was also touted for having the franchise’s first black female director, crashed and burned because would-be moviegoers hate women.
“I am a woman. I saw the movie. It was bad,” BlazeTV host Lauren Chen <a href="https://twitter.com/TheLaurenChen/status/1724063900448981237">replied</a>.
“Or maybe the movie just sucks?” another person <a href="https://twitter.com/ocajjoni/status/1723875608524922904">suggested</a>.
“Given that most of the people who go see these kinds of superhero movies are adolescent boys, absolutely yes, which should immediately tell you something about how fantastically Disney is failing their core audience right now,” a third person observed.
“It&#8217;s fine though. Adolescent boys will simply take their money somewhere else where their audienceship is appreciated and welcomed.”

A few of King’s followers called him out for not patronizing the movie himself and then complaining about poor numbers.
“Since you don&#8217;t go to MCU movies and don&#8217;t care for them, that means you rejected The Marvels, right? Does that mean you hate women?” one person wrote with a screenshot of the horror book writer’s previous tweet. 
King had <a href="https://twitter.com/StephenKing/status/1723754733024780549">tweeted</a> earlier the same day, writing, “I don’t go to MCU movies, don’t care for them, but I find this barely masked gloating over the low box office for THE MARVELS very unpleasant. Why gloat over failure?”
Marvel Studios recently <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/the-marvels-bombs-box-office-whats-next-marvel-cinematic-universe-1235788706/">postponed</a> three projects originally slated for 2024. 
“Captain America: A Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts,” and “Blade” are being pushed to 2025 because of strike-related production delays. That means the only Marvel release scheduled for 2024 is “Deadpool 3.” 
Though these actions aren’t necessarily due to “The Marvels” being a flop, it does give the studio time to regroup and come up with a new strategy.

In the clip, Cruz discussed the fact that Border Patrol had already encountered 125 people who were on the Terror Watch List in fiscal year 2023 — which isn&#8217;t even over yet — up from 98 such encounters in 2022, 15 in 2021, and just 3 in 2020.

Twitter owner and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and author Stephen King have been duking it out over the blue-check verification badges since Musk first announced his plan to charge a monthly fee — and King attempted to escalate matters on Saturday.
The acclaimed horror author — who remains verified despite his repeated claims that he has not paid the requisite fee — responded to Musk&#8217;s implication that he was footing the bill personally by suggesting he do something else with his money.

Some Twitter users saw the move as a form of trolling since those three individuals have vowed to not pay for the new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/twitter">Twitter</a> verification on principle. The social media platform recently removed their blue check verification from prominent business and celebrity accounts unless they paid the $8/month subscription fee. 
Following the Thursday update, only government accounts were eligible for free verification on Twitter.

I’ve been here for 15 years giving my [time] &amp; witty thoughts all for bupkis. Now you’re telling me that I have to pay for something you gave me for free? Since the updates, certain celebrities, including Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Ellen DeGeneres, and Miley Cyrus, still have their blue checkmarks, though it’s unclear if they paid for Twitter Blue. Other celebrities lost their checkmarks and had various reactions.

Bette Midler was furious to have her blue check taken away. “Elon took my blue check away! I’m unverified! After all these years and thousands of tweets and free content, this worm has the nerve to de-certify me,” she wrote.
Later in the day, the “Hocus Pocus” star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bette-midler-melts-down-over-losing-blue-check-on-twitter-contributed-mightily-to-your-platform">lashed out</a> again.

Outspoken leftist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stephen-king">Stephen King</a> is getting dragged online by conservatives as a &#8220;transphobe&#8221; for a Thursday comment he made about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/abortion">abortion</a>.
The best-selling author tweeted, “It has been said before, but it bears repeating: if men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.”

This led many Twitter users to point out that his side of the debate believes that men can actually get pregnant, which means his conclusion stands in opposition to his supposed beliefs.
“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender">Transphobe</a>,” <a href="https://twitter.com/BillboardChris/status/1646738179939254274">replied</a> Billboard Chris, a critic of radical gender theory.
“Never pegged Stephen King to be a TERF,” another person said, identifying King’s stance as that of a “trans-exclusionary radical feminist.”
“Are you saying men can&#8217;t get pregnant?” another person asked.
“Welcome to the transphobe club, Stephen! There are many of us already here, including fellow author [J.K. Rowling]. Have you met?” another person responded.
“I’m reliably told that men, in fact, can get pregnant. You bigot,” another person said.
The tweet quickly went viral after the author shared it Thursday, earning 4.2 million views.

Abortion remains a hot button political issue following the 2022 reversal of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court. Now states are able to make their own abortion laws, which most recently led to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signing the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ron-desantis-signs-heartbeat-protection-act-into-law-cementing-historic-pro-family-agenda">Heartbeat Protection Act into law</a>. This will restrict abortions in the state after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which is usually around six weeks gestation. 
Other states which have similar laws include Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Texas. A new report found that there were 32,000 <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/11/health/abortion-decline-post-roe/index.html">fewer abortions</a> since the Dobbs decision.  
King is no stranger to getting mocked online. In January, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/stephen-king-trashed-for-making-comments-about-banned-books-does-this-include-pornography">shared his opinion</a> on banned books, which also sparked a big reaction on social media.
“Hey, kids! It’s your old buddy Steve King telling you that if they ban a book in your school, haul your ass to the nearest bookstore or library ASAP and find out what they don’t want you to read,” King’s tweet said.
Many followers pointed out that these “banned” books often included pornographic images which are inappropriate for children.
“Does this include pornography? Because I’m pretty sure parents don’t want you telling their children to access pornographic material.” Stephen Miller, former senior advisor to President Trump said at the time.
“I’m not sure Stephen understands how creepy this is, considering the materials that are being restricted are openly pornographic,” Nick Frietas, a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates, responded.
