Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, whose blunt declarative side has manifested in criticism of political figures, blasted California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom for criticizing President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Switzerland.
Newsom sharply criticized Trump, dismissing Trump’s address as “boring,” “insignificant,” and largely empty rhetoric, particularly on Greenland. He argued the United States was operating under the “rule of Don” rather than the rule of law, claiming democratic norms had eroded. Newsom urged global leaders to stop being “complicit,” mocking their deference as “pathetic.” He also attacked Trump’s tariffs as harmful, criticized weakened institutional pushback, and positioned California as a counterweight on climate and clean energy policy.
“Gavin Newsom, respectfully, what are you doing?” Smith asked rhetorically. “You’re the governor of the state of California in the United States of America. Why are you over in Davos, Switzerland, talking to folks and speaking negatively about the president of the United States?”
“I have no problem with Gavin Newsom being candid and open about his feelings about our president on United States soil,” he continued. “To go over to another country, Switzerland; to go over there and to be in the presence of other European leaders speaking against the president of the United States, I’m not down with that. Y’all might be; I’m not down with that — at all.”
“Say whatever you want here, as a governor from the opposite of the aisle of a state in the United States on American soil, fine,” he declared. “But I’m one of those people, when we go somewhere else, it’s America first. Our problems are our problems. But we ain’t taking dirty laundry outside. &#8230; You don’t go on a world stage to disrespect your own house, which is the United States of America. I don’t like that at all, not even a little bit.”
“Now, I know that sounds juvenile,” he said. “I get that. Very simplistic in the eyes of a lot of people, but some things are worthy of being simple. I understand you trolling Trump. I understand that you&#8217;re aiming to run for the presidency in 2028. But we got problems here in the United States. And don&#8217;t tell me they don&#8217;t exist in California. But specifically when it pertains to sanctuary city, sanctuary state, border issues, safety in the streets, and I&#8217;ll be damned if affordability ain&#8217;t at the top of the list in the state of California. It&#8217;s expensive as hell. And a lot of it has happened on Gavin Newsom&#8217;s watch.”

Sports and politics analyst Stephen A. Smith ripped into Democrats on Wednesday, saying that it was impossible not to give President Donald Trump credit for political savvy after he pardoned Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX).
Smith gave his assessment on his Sirius XM show &#8220;Straight Shooter with Stephen A.,&#8221; saying that Trump was essentially &#8220;giving the Democratic Party lessons&#8221; in how to navigate the complicated political climate in the United States.

Smith pivoted to address the situation with Cuellar directly, and noted, as Trump did, that Cuellar had been at odds with former President Joe Biden over his handling of the illegal immigration crisis at the southern border. Trump, along with a number of others, alleged that Biden&#8217;s Justice Department had targeted Cuellar largely because of that.

Smith concluded by noting that he&#8217;d long been advising Democrats that they needed to move to the center if they ever wanted to win — and argued that Trump, by extending his pardon power across party lines, had beaten them to the punch.

Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith, a Democrat who nonetheless sometimes espouses perspectives at odds with the Democratic Party, <a href="https://grabien.com/story?id=558294&amp;utm_source=cliplist&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=cliplist20251127&amp;utm_content=story558294">slammed</a> Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) for participating in a video calling for military servicemembers to defy unlawful orders from their superiors.
Last week, a group of six Democrats, comprised of two senators and four members of the House, released an incendiary video in which they encouraged members of the military and intelligence community to disobey illegal orders they receive from the Trump administration.
Sens. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ), along with Reps. Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), and Jason Crow (D-CO), all former members of the military, encouraged military members to “refuse illegal orders.”
“The administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens,” the Democrat lawmakers claimed. “Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, right now.”
The Democrats accused the Trump administration of disrespecting constitutional guardrails, continuing, “The threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home.”

“Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal orders,” they pronounced, reiterating, “You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.”
Smith targeted Kelly, saying, “Respectfully, senator, what the hell are you doing looking into the camera and telling military men and women to ignore the commander-in-chief? How dare you? How dare you do that? That’s right, I&#8217;m calling it out.”
“I never served in the military,” he continued. “That&#8217;s true. I have family members who did. Some of my best friends have, Marines, Air Force, Navy, Army. I haven’t heard one of them, not one of them, say that was okay. How dare you do that?”
“Is it treason? No. Is it punishable by death? It shouldn&#8217;t be,” he said, in an apparent reference to President Donald Trump’s response to the video. “So the answer is no. But you know better, Senator Kelly. You know better! How dare you do that?! What are you supposed to do? You are a ranking senator. You could go to the Senate, you could go to the House, you could put up — draw up paperwork, you could try to start articles of impeachment if you think there&#8217;s something illegal.”
“I mean, damn, it ain&#8217;t like y&#8217;all haven’t done it before,” he pointed out. “You impeached the man twice. Where did that get you? Guy is behind, back in the White House. Had you left him alone in 2016 and 2020, maybe he wouldn&#8217;t be back terrorizing the Democratic Party the way that he is. But you did it! You did it! And here you are again with this nonsense. How dare you do that? I’m not a military person, and I know better than that! You don&#8217;t tell military men and women to ignore an order from the commander-in-chief. You don&#8217;t do that.”

On the heels of a tragic shooting in Utah that claimed the life of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, Stephen A. Smith took a rare detour from his usual sports commentary to deliver a sobering message on humanity, unity, and the role sports must play in a fractured America.
“We saw this man speaking &#8230; and we saw him struck by a bullet in his neck,” Smith said, not mincing words describing the heinous act that took place at Utah Valley University. A 31-year-old father of two was gunned down in broad daylight, in front of his wife and children. And the horror of it, Smith said, transcends politics. It’s about a life lost — a husband, a father, a fellow American — executed for simply expressing his beliefs.
“There&#8217;s a lot more love and a lot more brotherhood and sisterhood and humanity that goes on in this world that does it than doesn&#8217;t,” he stated. “Yet the few who are evil amongst us are the ones that screech and make the most noise. And it&#8217;s affecting us in a way where it&#8217;s getting to a point where you&#8217;re going to get scared to walk out in the streets. You&#8217;re going to get scared to show love and affection and even to say hello to your fellow man and woman, your neighbor.”
While Smith emphasized that Mad Dog Sports Radio is not a political soapbox, he made clear: “I don&#8217;t care what his political beliefs were. I don&#8217;t care what he felt. I care about the fact that a man was gunned down in front of two of his children who are 5 years of age or less. That he&#8217;s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else.”
That, he said, is the only thing that should matter. Not party. Not ideology. Humanity.
Smith blasted those online who celebrated Kirk’s death. “Shame. Shame on you,” he declared. For Smith, the very idea that someone could cheer the assassination of a man for his views marks a grotesque turning point in our moral compass.
“At some point in time, we got to remember that and remember to remind one another that there&#8217;s far more love in this world than hate and not allow evil and hate to dominate us and to strip us of what truly makes us the greatest nation in the world,” he declared. “It&#8217;s that mosaic that we live under, a willingness to embrace any and all and find a way to agree without being disagreeable. Not even because we may want to all the time, but because we know it&#8217;s what&#8217;s best for a society to be civilized and positioned to prosper. Someone forgot about that yesterday and murdered Charlie Kirk. Others forgot about it by parading online and celebrating an evil, vile occurrence.”
The ESPN host, unapologetically black and proud of his journey, highlighted moments of unity he experiences every day. “I see people looking at me and smiling and saying, ‘What’s up, Stephen?’ and they don’t look anything like me. And I don’t care — because they’re showing me love, and I’m showing it right back.”
In closing, he reminded listeners: “He&#8217;s gone at 31 just because he expressed thoughts that differed from somebody else apparently. And some might blame it because, ‘oh my God, he&#8217;s friends with the president’ and they may not be a Donald Trump supporter. I&#8217;m saying bump all that. He&#8217;s a human being living in the United States of America. This is America. We&#8217;re not supposed to condone stuff like this. We&#8217;re not supposed to say it&#8217;s okay.  I don&#8217;t give a damn who you are. Black, white, or anything in between. You&#8217;re a human being. “I don’t think that the subjective definition of life is how we define life,” Shapiro said. “We all agree, for example, that a one-month-old baby should not be drowned. Right, we all agree on that. And that’s not up to the personal … and the question is, well, why? Because we now understand that the one-month-old baby, everyone agrees with this, right, that — except for Peter Singer at Princeton — that a one-month-old baby has an independent interest in life.”

“People choose that argument because it&#8217;s the hardest one to make emotionally from the pro-life side … but the vast majority of abortions have nothing to do with rape or incest,” he said.

During a debate on Social Security on CNN, Shapiro explained to the panelists how the entitlement program works and how it’s on a path to bankruptcy. 
First, Shapiro shot down the idea pushed by Phillip that Social Security is just a system in which Americans “pay into” to receive that money back at retirement.
“Well no,” Shapiro shot back, adding, “I promise you the amount that people are taking out is not the amount that is going in, which is why we are going bankrupt.”

Later in the panel discussion, Ana Kasparian, host of the leftist show, “The Young Turks,” argued that spending on defense and foreign aid was a bigger problem pushing the country toward bankruptcy than Social Security. 
“You don’t think the trillions of dollars we’ve spent on wars in the Middle East might have something to do with that?” she asked. 
“That is not even remotely a percentage of what we spend on Social Security,” Shapiro replied. And, of course, he was correct. In 2024, Social Security accounted for 21% of the federal budget, totaling $1.5 trillion. Defense spending, meanwhile, made up 13% of the budget, or $872 billion.

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith, who is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/espn-host-stephen-smith-consider-run-president" target="_blank" rel="noopener">considering</a> a run for the presidency in 2028, said on Sunday that he believes the Democratic Party needs to be &#8220;purged&#8221; of its far-left tendencies before he would associate with it as a candidate.
CNN&#8217;s Jake Tapper asked Smith on this Sunday&#8217;s <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/04/politics/video/sotu-jake-tapper-interviews-stphen-a-smith-on-potential-presidentila-bid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">episode</a> of &#8220;State of the Union&#8221; whether he would run for the White House as a Democrat.
&#8220;You know what? I&#8217;m an independent. I&#8217;m a registered independent. I would lean — who leans left. I&#8217;m fiscally conservative when it comes to my money. I&#8217;m socially liberal. I&#8217;m liberal when it comes to social issues pretty much across the board. I believe in living and let living,&#8221; Smith said.
&#8220;So I&#8217;m a moderate,&#8221; he went on. &#8220;And I would say, if I had to run, it would be as a Democrat, but I&#8217;m not happy with the Democratic Party. So the Democratic Party, as presently constructed, it would pretty much need to be purged in order for me to assume that I would want to be associated with them and I would garner their support, because I don&#8217;t like the way they have gone about doing a lot of things for a very, very long period of time.&#8221;

Smith added: &#8220;And I think that I don&#8217;t view Donald Trump as winning the election. I view the Democrats as losing the election, as absolutely, positively blowing it with some of their actions. And that&#8217;s why I think that, again, if somebody was to associate me with that, the party, as presently constructed, where it leans so extremely left, or at least has spent the vast majority of time doing that, oh, that is not something that I would vibe with at all. I would definitely be looking to be a game changer in that regard.&#8221;
When pressed by Tapper, Smith said that he would not name anyone he thinks should be &#8220;purged,&#8221; but the media personality did take aim at the &#8220;extreme left&#8221; of the party.
&#8220;We know how they go about operating. We know what we lean towards when it came to open borders. We know that the spending was excessive, even though it&#8217;s excessive on the Republican side as well. I think a $37 trillion budget, when Republicans try to act like it&#8217;s just the Democrats, that&#8217;s not true. But the Democrats certainly shouldn&#8217;t be absolved from blame in that regard,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;Certainly, with identity politics, woke culture, cancel culture, I thought that that was something that ravaged our nation psychologically, because you had people literally scared they were going to lose their jobs if they pronounced the wrong pronoun, for crying out loud,&#8221; Smith continued. &#8220;It got that bad.&#8221;
Smith said he believes the focus on &#8220;the individual&#8221; rather than &#8220;actual policies&#8221; is one reason why Trump won a second term.
&#8220;I&#8217;m talking about what they preached and what they talked to the American people about more so than what they&#8217;re doing. The kind of messages that they were disseminating was incredibly uncomfortable to listen to and to hear,&#8221; Smith said.
&#8220;And I thought that it wasn&#8217;t emblematic of what most Americans are thinking about. They&#8217;re trying to pay their mortgages, rent, buy food and groceries, pay gas and deal with the prices, the cost of living. And they want safety in the streets. That&#8217;s primarily what most American citizens are about, trying to live in peace and harmony,&#8221; he added.  &#8220;And that&#8217;s not something that I think either side has promoted along the way. And that&#8217;s why I think the state of the nation is what it is at this particular moment in time.&#8221;

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith said on Sunday that he has &#8220;no choice&#8221; but to consider a run for president.
Smith, who recently <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/stephen-a-smith-says-democrats-lost-hints-seriously-considering-presidential-run" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declared</a> the Democrats to be &#8220;lost,&#8221; refused to rule out a future campaign for the White House during an interview on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week&#8221; with anchor Jonathan Karl.
&#8220;I have no choice because I&#8217;ve had elected officials, and I&#8217;m not going to give their names, elected officials coming up to me. I&#8217;ve had folks who are pundits come up to me. I&#8217;ve had folks that got a lot of money, billionaires and others, have talked to me about exploratory committees and things of that nature,&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;I&#8217;m not a politician. I&#8217;ve never had a desire to be a politician. I just signed a contract extension with ESPN. I am very, very happy with my day job.&#8221;
He added later, &#8220;But here’s the reality, people — literally, people have walked up to me, including my own pastor for crying out loud, who has said to me, you don&#8217;t know what God has planned for you. At least show the respect to the people who believe in you, who respect you, who believe that you can make a difference in this country to leave the door open for any possibilities — two to three years down the line. And that&#8217;s what I’ve decided to do.&#8221;
Smith acknowledged that he sees Democrats who &#8220;clearly are more qualified than me.&#8221; Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who resigned from office in 2021 amid controversy but is now <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/andrew-cuomo-launches-bid-to-be-mayor-of-new-york-city" target="_blank" rel="noopener">running</a> to become New York City mayor, all got name-dropped.
&#8220;I would hope somebody else would step up that&#8217;s more qualified than me, but if it has to come down to me, it is something I would consider. Yes, I would, because I don&#8217;t mind the thought of tussling with these folks at all on the left or the right. All of them disgust me to be quite honest with you,&#8221; Smith said.
The ESPN host also responded to Steve Bannon <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-going-run-third-term-230023061.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> on Bill Maher&#8217;s HBO show, &#8220;Real Time,&#8221; that only Smith or another celebrity would be a cause for concern for him in a prospective 2028 election match-up against Trump, assuming that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-probably-messing-with-you-about-3rd-term-thune-tells-reporters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a way around</a> the Constitution&#8217;s 22nd Amendment forbidding a third term can be found.
Bannon is &#8220;trying to be slick because he&#8217;s looking at a non-political individual like myself, looking at me as a populist, but you better be careful what you ask for because some of the stuff that Trump and the Right has been trying to get away with, like circumventing the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution, talking about how there could be a third term,&#8221; Smith said.
He continued, &#8220;Excuse me, be careful what you wish for because if any GOP member, if any Republican supports that, I don&#8217;t want to hear a word out of their mouth ever again about following the Constitution, the Constitution, the Constitution. That&#8217;s what they&#8217;ve been living off for years, and then you&#8217;re talking about circumventing the 22nd Amendment, and you think that&#8217;s cool? No way. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) made it clear on Friday that he was still willing to run cover for an obviously diminished former President Joe Biden — even after a slew of Biden&#8217;s former aides and media personalities have admitted just how compromised he was during his term in the White House.
Just off his record-setting filibuster stunt from earlier in the week, Booker made an appearance on Stephen A. ESPN host Stephen A. Smith on Tuesday told Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro that there was “absolutely nothing” that could get him to change his mind about Derek Chauvin.
Shapiro <a href="https://x.com/realDailyWire/status/1904610435820589375" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joined</a> “The Stephen A. Smith Show” to make his case for pardoning Chauvin, the police officer convicted for killing George Floyd. Earlier this month, Smith<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/stephen-a-smith-attacks-me" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> suggested</a> Shapiro&#8217;s motives were disingenuous, and that he would not have called for Chauvin to be pardoned if he were black, or if Floyd was Jewish.
But even after Shapiro outlined the evidence for why Chauvin should not have been charged with murder, Smith remained unmoved.
“What would it take for you to change your mind on the case?” Shapiro asked after noting that Floyd had requested to leave the police car and that Chauvin was following protocol in detaining him.

Smith also attempted to argue that Shapiro could not weigh in on the Floyd case because he did not have the “lived experience” of “black folks.”
“What about the argument that when we talk about black folks, you can talk about data all you want to … but the real experiences that we endure from time to time, is not something that you can necessarily calculate,” Smith said. “How seriously do you take those assertions coming from a community whether it’s your own, mine, or anybody else&#8217;s?”

Shapiro admitted it’s true that we can “never fully get into one another&#8217;s shoes,” but said that “when it comes to making public policy then the only sort of gauge that you can have really is the data.”
“When it comes to trying to craft law, for example, making law based on the personal feelings of people’s quote unquote lived experiences, is a bad way to make law that is going to have to be generally applicable.”
Smith agreed and said “Yeah, you make a valid point about policy when you talk about policy. You can’t just go by personal experience. It’s got to be the numbers. It’s got to be the data.”
Shapiro earlier this month launched &#8220;The Case For Derek Chauvin,&#8221; a five-part series diving into the Floyd incident and making the case for Chauvin&#8217;s innocence.
&#8220;The evidence demonstrates that Derek Chauvin did not, in fact, commit the murder of George Floyd,” Shapiro said. “George Floyd was high on fentanyl; he had a significant pre-existing heart condition. George Floyd was saying he could not breathe before he was even out of the car. He was in the car saying he could not breathe.”

Stephen A. Smith Tells Ben Shapiro ‘Absolutely Nothing’ Could Change His Mind About Derek Chauvin

A lot of people have been asking why I’ve focused on the pardon of Derek Chauvin. After all, he&#8217;s convicted on both federal charges as well as state charges.
There are a few reasons. 
The first and most obvious reason is that there is a likelihood he serves less time if the federal charges are relieved because federal inmates can&#8217;t earn good-time credit that reduces sentences. That happens at a much lower rate at the federal level than it happens at the state level. With Chauvin&#8217;s concurrent sentences, he has roughly a 22.5-year sentence on state charges and 21 years on federal charges.
But under Minnesota state sentencing structure, inmates usually serve about two-thirds of their sentence behind bars and one third under supervised release. So he would serve roughly 15 years of the 22.5-year state sentence in actual confinement under the state charges, thus less time in jail.
But the second reason I have focused on pardoning Chauvin is that when someone believed to be not guilty is languishing in prison, that is the time when the President of the United States ought to either commute his sentence or pardon him. 
Chauvin is the perfect example. It is immoral to allow a person whom you believe is innocent to languish in prison just because that person was made into the face of American racism. With no evidence of such a claim, Chauvin was made the face of American racism before his trial. Every media outlet in the country decided he was guilty. 
The governor of Minnesota decided he was guilty. The mayor of Minneapolis decided he was guilty. The presidential candidates on the Left side of the aisle at that time, including Joe Biden, decided he was guilty. Thus, it was necessary for the jury to convict him in order for an entire narrative structure to be created.
That was wrong.

There are many people who object to all of this. One of those people is Steven A. Smith, a loud-mouth on ESPN. When I say loud-mouth, I mean the man does not have a volume that goes below eight on the spinal tap scale. I&#8217;m not sure that there is such a thing as a normal Stephen A. Smith voice, and I say this as a long-time viewer of ESPN. Every time Smith comes on the TV, you have to turn down your volume significantly.
Smith is very angry that I have suggested that Chauvin ought to be pardoned. He <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5EhE8LcwNU">said</a> on his show, “Would you have taken that position if George Floyd was a Jewish person? A white Jewish person? If a black cop had his knee on a white Jewish person for over nine minutes, Ben Shapiro, would you have called for that individual to be pardoned?” 
First, let&#8217;s start with this: I don&#8217;t know why he believes that it would be important, even in his stupid example, for it to be a “white Jewish person” as opposed to just a Jewish person.
His claim is that I am a tribal identitarian; thus, I would be just fine with the wrongful prosecution of a cop if a Jew died under the knee of that cop — even if the cop was not responsible and the fact patterns were exactly the same — and George Floyd’s name had been Harold Bernstein (or something equivalent), and the cop had been named George Floyd, a black man.
That is intensely stupid. It&#8217;s intensely stupid for a variety of reasons. Why don&#8217;t we begin with the first? This would not have been a national news story if that were the case. The reason this entire story was national news is because of the race of the people involved. In fact, when black people were routinely beating up Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn, it was covered up by the New York Times. It was not a national story. 
The reality is that this was made a national story specifically because the media had a preexisting narrative of race in America, and this fulfilled their narrative, even if the facts didn&#8217;t match.
Second, if, in fact, the facts had matched, and this was a Jewish person who had been arrested for counterfeiting (for passing counterfeit bills), had been high on fentanyl with a preexisting heart condition, and then had died under the knee of a cop, would I have said that the cop was innocent?
Yes, because if the cop is innocent, the cop is innocent. That&#8217;s the way this works.
The race or religion of the pseudo-victim is irrelevant to the question of whether this person was in fact murdered or not.
Stephen A. Smith is one of the deepest racial identitarians in our society. He does it all the time. All the time. He does it when he talks about sports — all the time. If you&#8217;re talking about Nikola Jokić, the greatest basketball center of our generation, he&#8217;ll talk about how Jokić should not be included in conversations for MVP specifically because of his race.
The reason Smith makes these kinds of statements is because he is projecting. He is projecting a racial conversation where none exists. I’m a Boston Celtics fan, so the following example with Smith from just a couple of years ago springs to mind.
Danny Ainge was the chief of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics; then, Brad Stevens was elevated to fill his position. Stevens is a really good president of basketball operations. How do we know this? The Celtics won an NBA championship last year, and he&#8217;s been one of the most successful NBA executives in all the NBA over the course of his tenure.
But Smith was firmly convinced the only reason Stevens was elevated was because of his race, <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/ESPN/comments/1dk2a26/from_3_years_ago_how_does_anyone_like_or_respect/">saying</a>, “It&#8217;s moments like this where I get on people&#8217;s nerves, particularly white America and the NBA community specifically, because I point out it&#8217;s beautiful to be a white guy. It&#8217;s just beautiful. You know, you&#8217;re a question mark as a coach in some people&#8217;s eyes, including in Boston. But somehow, someway, you’re moving upstairs.”
It’s worth noting that “it&#8217;s beautiful to be a white guy in America” has not precluded Smith from a five-year $100 million contract for ESPN, a failing network with plummeting ratings.
The reason that Smith is exercised over the George Floyd situation is specifically because of a racial narrative that is not predicated on facts. Now, he&#8217;s projecting that onto me as being some sort of racist for suggesting the racial narrative should not predominate. This is the whole reason that Black Lives Matter was such a mistake and failure, because it was racializing of a question that was not, in fact, racial.
This is just more evidence that what I&#8217;m saying about Chauvin is true, that the reason that Chauvin is in prison right now is because he was the wrong race and George Floyd was the wrong race. Because of that, Chauvin is in prison.
Here&#8217;s the dirty little secret: It never would have been a national news story if the races had been reversed, or if both people had been white or both people had been black.
And that means the officer would have been assessed on the facts of the situation rather than the racial narrative that people like Stephen Smith were propagating.

Smith argued that the 2024 election was not so much about President Donald Trump and the Republicans &#8220;winning&#8221; as it was about the Democrats losing because they couldn&#8217;t get a handle on a message that resonated with the American people.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not about him winning. It was an indictment against the Democratic Party and what the Democratic Party was offering the American citizens,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We might sit up here and talk about, hey, you should be a party for the working class, which the Democratic Party was once known for — they&#8217;re not known for that right now. Why? Because their message was catering towards others and towards other issues.&#8221;
&#8220;The forgot about the people that brought them there, that elevated the Democratic Party to what it was over these last few decades. That&#8217;s why they lost. He didn&#8217;t win, the Democrats lost,&#8221; Smith insisted.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s remind people what those issues were,&#8221; Goldberg replied. &#8220;Making sure that families had what they need &#8230; making sure stuff is there. Making sure that the America we all grew up in, where you could come and be whoever you were supposed to be or want to be, you still have that right.&#8221;
&#8220;All these things are the things the Democrats have always said, but now we have a guy who&#8217;s in who says you know, I&#8217;m gonna bring down the price of eggs, but first I&#8217;m gonna cut all these jobs,&#8221; Goldberg continued. &#8220;And I&#8217;m not gonna see why they need to be cut, I&#8217;m just gonna cut them &#8230; that&#8217;s what he&#8217;s doing.&#8221;
