Smith</a> demanded answers from the U.S. government about the drones flying in the northeast, comparing it to something out of the alien invasion film “Independence Day.&#8221;
During the latest episode of “First Take,” Smith and cohost NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe were discussing the New York Giants&#8217; loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday when Sharpe made a quip about how people “might need to fly some more planes overhead.” It was a reference to fans paying to fly a banner over the stadium, demanding that the owner fix the team, as <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/sports/stephen-a-smith-demands-answers-to-drone-sightings-in-the-northeast-i-saw-independence-day-dammit/">Mediaite</a> reported.
“Let me tell you something, these damn drones in New York City,” Smith replied. “The United States government, get it together! Get it together!”
“There’s drones flying over people’s houses in Jersey and New York!” he added. “I saw Independence Day, dammit! I ain’t underestimating none of that stuff! Figure it out!”

The movie Smith referenced is a 1996 sci-fi thriller — starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman, and Jeff Goldblum — in which a group of extraterrestrials come to earth with the plan to annihilate the entire world.
A description about the movie on <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116629/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IMDb</a> read, “The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. Fighting superior technology, mankind&#8217;s best weapon is the will to survive.”
The comments were similar to what others have been saying on social media about the unidentified drones, seen flying primarily over New Jersey, that have alarmed residents and lawmakers as the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have said little beyond admitting they&#8217;re investigating the phenomena, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/unidentified-drones-entered-airspace-over-u-s-navy-weapons-station">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported. 
Fox News host Harris Faulkner recently talked about the drones, taking video and posting it on <a href="https://x.com/HARRISFAULKNER/status/1867697001741140384">X</a>. 
“JUST SAW THE MYSTERY DRONE ACTIVITY FOR MYSELF. Dusk hit moments ago and very large drones flew outside my bedroom windows,” Faulkner’s post read. “My daughter Bella ran to get her cell.”
“There are 6-8 hovering in one area now above the Hudson River,” she added. “Street traffic to the George Washington Bridge is crawling as neighbors stopping to witness this.
She later posted a message from President-elect Donald Trump, who also weighed in on the mysterious flying devices, calling on the government to let the people know what’s going on.
“NOW TRUMP: Incoming President Trump calls for telling American citizens the truth or shoot down the mystery<a href="https://x.com/hashtag/drones?src=hashtag_click"> #drones</a>,” she <a href="https://x.com/HARRISFAULKNER/status/1867706242065412447">added</a> in a second post.
“Mystery drone sightings all over country,” Trump’s post read. “Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I [don’t] think so. Let the public know, and now. Otherwise [shoot] them down! DJT.”

Smith</a> said he’s done defending Democrats&#8217; lies following the revelations of the inspector general’s January 6 report that found the FBI had dozens of informants in D.C., including some inside the Capitol that day.
Speaking on “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXFLUe-ANJA">The Stephen A. Smith Show</a>,” the host pointed to the IG report, calling it a bombshell that revealed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi">FBI</a> had at least 26 informants in D.C., on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6">January 6</a>, 2021, the day of the U.S. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/capitol-riot">Capitol riot</a>, including some who committed offenses but are not among the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/capitol-breach-cases">hundreds who have been charged</a> with crimes, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ig-says-fbi-had-dozens-of-informants-in-d-c-on-jan-6-including-in-capitol" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a>.
“Didn’t hear anything about that before the election,” Smith said. “Didn’t hear anything about that when the quote unquote ‘insurrection’ was broached by Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic [presidential] nominee. By President Biden before her. By Democrats in both the House and the Senate they articulated that [President-elect] Donald Trump was a danger to democracy and used this as a profound illuminating bullet point to make this case.”
“And here we are yet again, adding even more evidence to Donald Trump’s claims when he articulated ‘the process is rigged … they are talking about us, but look at what they do,’” he added. “My big issue is that I&#8217;m really, really sick and tired of every time I turn around, finding something else that the Democrats have lied about or downplayed or misrepresented along the way.”

Media personalities Chris Cuomo, Bill O&#8217;Reilly, and Stephen A. Smith slammed the media for ignoring a story <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doug-emhoff-accused-of-hitting-ex-girlfriend-in-the-face-at-high-profile-event-report">published</a> by the Daily Mail this week that detailed accusations that Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; husband, Doug Emhoff, struck his girlfriend in the face because he thought she was flirting with another man.
Three friends of the woman, a New York lawyer, told the Daily Mail about the alleged attack in 2012 on the condition that neither they nor the woman, who was only identified as “Jane,” be named out of fear of retaliation.
The report said Emhoff and Jane were in line waiting for a taxi as they were leaving the Cannes Film Festival in France when Jane tipped a valet, hoping to get moved to the front of the line. During the interaction, she allegedly placed her hand on his shoulder, and Emhoff thought that she was hitting on the valet.
He allegedly smacked her across the face so hard that she spun around.
&#8220;If the name were Trump instead of Emhoff in this story, it would be all over the news right now,&#8221; Cuomo said on his NewsNation show.
The reporter who published the explosive story, Josh Boswell, said that the publication would not have published it unless it was &#8220;very credible,&#8221; noting that there were credible contemporaneous accounts of the incident and documents about how the two were traveling to the event together. He added that there was even video footage of them together at the event.
&#8220;If it were Trump or anyone related to him, it would be on every TV show that is on right now,&#8221; Cuomo added. &#8220;And that&#8217;s why I think of the interest of fairness you should look at it.&#8221;

Smith agreed: &#8220;In fairness to Donald Trump, which is not something you hear me or most people say all the time, it is absolutely true if this were him, it would be all over the place. It would be printed. It would be publicized everywhere.&#8221;
&#8220;We also have to take into account 2018 when then-Senator Kamala Harris, obviously, when the whole Brett Kavanaugh situation, when Brett Kavanaugh was obviously running for the Supreme Court &#8230; I remember her wearing all black and saying she was wearing all black, and &#8216;I wore black today in support of all survivors of sexual assault or abuse,'&#8221; Smith continued. &#8220;And it was a hashtag, #BelieveSurvivors, etc, etc. And so when you do something like that, it&#8217;s going to be politicized.&#8221;
O&#8217;Reilly said that left-wing activists and movements like Me Too and Time&#8217;s Up will say nothing about the alleged attack.
&#8220;But if it were a Republican or conservative, they would be denying the person accused of due process, because that&#8217;s what they do, unless it&#8217;s someone on [their] side,&#8221; he said.
Smith agreed, saying that the &#8220;bias&#8221;, &#8220;favoritism&#8221;, and &#8220;lack of neutrality&#8221; in the media was a serious issue.

Indiana Fever star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/caitlin-clark">Caitlin Clark</a> was all class when she reacted to being left off the roster for Team USA this summer at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In a clip posted on <a href="https://x.com/ClayTravis/status/1799879205426974899">X</a>, the WNBA rookie was asked by reporters about not making the team and the level of disappointment she had about it. Clark responded that she had none and only wished those who made the cut the best of luck.
“Honestly, no disappointment. I think it just gives you something to work for,” Clark told the press. “That’s a dream. Hopefully one day I can be there. I think it’s just a little more motivation. You remember that and hopefully, when four years comes back around, I can be there.”

Fever coach Christie Sides told reporters that when the 2024 WNBA drafted guard learned the news that she wasn’t on the team, she said Clark told her, &#8220;[T]hey woke a monster,” <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/caitlin-clark-epically-responds-not-making-olympic-team-1910202">Newsweek</a> noted.
&#8220;The thing she said was, &#8216;Hey, Coach, they woke a monster,&#8217; which I thought was awesome,&#8221; Sides said. &#8220;She&#8217;s young, she&#8217;s going to have so many opportunities in the future.&#8221;
Not everyone was as gracious as Clark about the snub. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stephen-a-smith">Sports broadcaster</a> <a href="https://www.on3.com/her/news/olympics-stephen-a-smith-slams-team-usa-womens-basketball-for-caitlin-clark-snub-how-could-you-be-that-idiotic/">Stephen A. Smith</a> slammed the move and said it was a case of “idiocy.”
“This is about what I will personally label ‘The Idiocy of Team USA Women’s Basketball.’ How dare you make this decision,” Smith said. “It’s stupid. I want all the ladies on this squad to know every single one of y’all deserve it. Caitlin Clark does not deserve a spot ahead of any of the players on this roster — if we’re talking just basketball. You know we’re not.”
“It was a stupid decision,” he added. “Because it compromises what your ultimate goal is, which is to elevate the WNBA brand. How could you be that idiotic and not make that call, when throughout history, Team USA has been, in part, about marketing? It’s dumb, period.”
Barstool’s <a href="https://x.com/stoolpresidente/status/1799467905178091598">Dave Portnoy</a> went viral when he posted about the move, calling it dumb and more.
“Hey dummies, for the first time in the history of basketball you have arguably a player who is the most popular player in the world,” Portnoy said in a clip posted on X. “And you leave her off the Olympics team?”
“It’s not only a showcase for her. It’s for the sport and the other WNBA players who are on this team. How dumb, how braindead, how idiotic do the people running this thing have to be?” he added. 
Clark could still make an appearance at the Olympics if a player gets injured resulting in an alternate making the team. However, in the past, alternates have never been announced, so there’s no indication of whether she’d make that short list, <a href="https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/40314567/caitlin-clark-says-not-disappointed-olympics-snub">ESPN</a> noted.

Smith</a> said WNBA players are “jealous” of rookie <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/caitlin-clark">Caitlin Clark</a> and all the attention she’s getting after recently entering the league.
During Monday’s episode of “First Take,” Smith reacted to the WNBA upgrading a common foul to flagrant after Chicago Sky player Chennedy Carter pushed the Indiana Fever player to the ground during a recent game, Mediaite <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/sports/stephen-a-smith-believes-wnba-players-are-jealous-of-caitlin-clark-following-hard-foul-in-recent-game/">reported</a>.
“There are girls — young ladies — in the WNBA who are jealous of Caitlin Clark,” Smith said. “She is a white girl that has come into the league. She has burst onto the scene. She hasn’t proven herself yet.”
“It’s not even about them thinking they’re better than her because they probably know it at this particular juncture because they’ve been playing on a level she just arrived to,” he added. “Where the resentment comes in is the hard work, the commitment, the dedication, the pounding of the payment, the being on the grind.”
“All of these years trying to uplift this brand that is the WNBA and is women’s professional basketball; and all of their efforts were in vain until this girl comes along and take the league by storm — takes sport by storm — in college and has accomplished in a short period of time what they haven’t been able to,” Smith continued.

The sportscaster also said that he would think these players would be “smart enough to recognize and appreciate” the attention Clark has brought to the league and therefore “piggyback off of that to their benefit, and praise her and support her for it while competing on the court against her and trying to take her out.”
The comments were similar to what NBA legends Charles Barkley and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lebron-james-charles-barkley-come-to-caitlin-clarks-defense-against-naysayers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LeBron James</a> have said about the reception and backlash against Clark since being picked number 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA draft.
During TNT’s “Inside the NBA” pregame show, host Barkley <a href="https://x.com/ComplexSports/status/1793432883966706169">reacted</a> to the criticism against Clark after the Fever fell 0-5 to start the season and said “You women out there, y’all petty, man.” He also talked about the comments James made on the “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqJ2u11OTY0">Mind the Game</a>“ podcast when he slammed the criticism against the rookie of the Indiana Fever team.
“LeBron, you’re 100% right on these girls hating on Caitlin Clark,” Barkley said. “Y’all petty, girls. I expect men to be petty because we’re the most insecure group in the world.”

“Y’all remember Bill Clinton? &#8230;Lying under oath. Remember that? No sexual relations?” he added, pointing out other Democrats like former Democratic Vice Presidential nominee John Edwards who had an illicit affair with a campaign aide.
The host asked if the Democrats were “really, really” planning to “push this where a state like New York has a former President in a courtroom because he paid $130,000 in hush money…to keep a porn star’s mouth shut about the fact that they got loose with each other because he didn’t want that to taint his campaign.”
Smith then talked about the “sexual encounter” Clinton had with the former White House intern Monica Lewinsky during his presidency and slammed the trial as “much ado about nothing.”
“To my liberal friends out there, all you’re doing is showing that you’re scared you can’t beat him on the issues and the merits,” the host said. &#8220;That’s why he [Trump] keeps saying they can’t beat me at the election, at the polls. This is the only way they can do it.”
&#8220;And if you don’t put him in jail, and he still goes from being the presumptive GOP nominee to the official GOP nominee, and he goes to the polls, even though he was going to whine about winning and [the election] being rigged again, you have given more fodder to that argument, which means we’ll never have peace in this country,” he added. &#8220;Because tens of millions of people see what extent the other side is willing to go through just to keep him out of office because they can’t beat him on their own merits.”
“And they’re going to say, ‘Hey, you trumped us up against him again,’ and we’ll have no peace when all you gotta do is figure out a way to beat him on the issues,” Smith continued. “But you haven’t been able to do it. You can’t beat him [Trump]&#8230; Everything you do shows me you can’t beat him. It’s a damn shame. It really, really is. It’s embarrassing. &#8220;

Media personality Stephen A. Smith teed off on Democrats during a recent episode of his podcast for caring more for illegal aliens than American citizens who are in need.
Smith made the remarks while talking about Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams&#8217; new $53 million <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nyc-to-start-53m-program-that-will-hand-out-prepaid-credit-cards-to-illegal-immigrants">program</a> that will give illegal alien families who have arrived in the Big Apple a prepaid taxpayer-funded credit card.
&#8220;So you can pick and choose, what it came down to, for me is this: I see homeless folks in the streets of New York all the time that are American citizens,&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;I damn sure see them in California. We&#8217;ve got poor, impoverished, starving people who were born and raised in this nation. How in the hell do we come up with a $53 million pilot program for illegals — but folks who are here legally or born here — we don&#8217;t have enough for them?&#8221;
Smith said that while he supports helping Israel and Ukraine, it should not come at the expense of not taking care of Americans who are in need.
&#8220;What about poor and desolate citizens here?&#8221; he asked. &#8220;How the hell do you print money for foreign countries, but you don&#8217;t print that money to help eradicate folks that are starving right here in the streets of America who were born and raised here? This is what I&#8217;m talking about.&#8221;
Smith said that the solution to fixing homelessness was implementing policies that create a thriving economy and limit inflation.

But guess what, if you ain&#8217;t making no damn money, and you got to get two jobs, to pay the same prices or to buy the same amount of stuff that you used to buy and the price is higher than it used to be because of inflation, then guess what, what are you really accomplishing? That&#8217;s why Trump is on the verge of getting elected, re-elected. Because when he was in office, there was a flourishing economy.&#8221;

Smith</a> gushed over California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom this week as a potential replacement for President Joe Biden atop the Democratic Party ticket in 2024, but noted that Newsom has a problem.
Smith started out the segment by talking about Trump&#8217;s legal problems and how his fundraising apparatus has been paying for his legal bills, and said that Democrats needed to turn the page and go a different route if they wanted to be sure they would win in 2024.
&#8220;You have any idea how stupid you’re going to look as a party [if you nominate President Joe Biden]?” Smith said. &#8220;First of all, you look stupid enough because you call yourself progressives. And you’re riding the coattails of a guy that’s going to be 82 years old during election year, begging him to run for re-election.&#8221;
Smith noted that the sky-high taxes in California are what keeps him from supporting Newsom.
“You call yourself progressives and the best you can do is an 82-year-old that’s already in office, an 82-year-old incumbent,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I personally believe if it wasn’t for these damn high taxes out here in California, I would be a Gavin Newsom supporter.&#8221;
Smith then praised Newsom for going after Fox News host Sean Hannity during an interview several months ago.
&#8220;I’ve never seen, since Biden has been president, anyone on the liberal side that has been more forceful, more convincing, and more defying against the Right than Gavin Newsom,&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;And more effective. He was brilliant.&#8221;

&#8220;But then I come out to California and these damn taxes, they invent ways to take your money in this state. So that might be problematic,&#8221; he added. &#8220;But I got to tell you. I still approve of that. Better than you rely on an 82-year-old candidate.&#8221;

Smith</a> doubled down on viral comments he made slamming Democrats for backing President Joe Biden as the party&#8217;s &#8220;best candidate&#8221; for 2024.
During the sports commentator&#8217;s appearance on Fox News&#8217;s &#8220;Hannity&#8221; on Tuesday, Smith said he&#8217;s &#8220;certainly not a liberal&#8221; but a registered independent. Smith said he preferred former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who recently entered the race for the 2024 GOP nomination, over Biden or any other Democrat running.
&#8220;I&#8217;d vote for him [Christie] before I&#8217;d vote for any of the Democratic candidates that I&#8217;ve seen,&#8221; Smith said, before going on to criticize Biden.

&#8220;I&#8217;m looking at him and I don&#8217;t like what I see,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I&#8217;m not impressed with what I see, and I&#8217;ve been very concerned with what I&#8217;ve seen, and the fact that he&#8217;s going to be 82 years of age at election time, if he were to win the election, then he&#8217;d be in the White House until he&#8217;s 86 years old.&#8221;
&#8220;I think in the year 2023 it is utterly embarrassing that the liberal side has him as their best candidate,&#8221; Smith continued. &#8220;What does it say about you when that is the best candidate that you can give the Left? That is ridiculous!&#8221;
The ESPN host said it was less of a slam on Biden and more an &#8220;indictment against the Democratic Party.&#8221; The comments were similar to those Smith made during a recent episode of &#8220;<a href="https://twitter.com/stephenasmith/status/1664739852280102912?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Stephen A. Smith Show&#8221;</a> podcast that ended up going viral.

Sports commentator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/stephen-a-smith">Stephen A. Smith</a> is apologizing to the public for comments he made insinuating that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/beyonce">Beyoncé</a> is a superior performer to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rihanna">Rihanna</a>.
The controversy began when Smith was asked for his opinion about Rihanna’s upcoming Super Bowl Halftime performance on February 12.
“I don’t want to say I’m not excited. She’s fantastic,” he <a href="https://youtu.be/iy2P2oU27Qc">said</a> during an appearance on “Sherri.” “That’s not where I’m going with this. She’s a lot of things,” Smith continued. “She’s spectacular. And congratulations on new mamahood. There’s one thing she’s not: She ain’t Beyoncé.”
His comments inspired a loud chorus of “boos” from the audience.
“The only reason I brought up Beyoncé is because Beyoncé recently performed at the Super Bowl. And without Bruno Mars and Coldplay.”
Sherri Shepherd argued that Beyoncé “had her time” to shine, but the ESPN host wouldn’t budge.

After receiving a ton of backlash from Rihanna fans, Smith decided to embark on an apology tour. 
He posted a <a href="https://twitter.com/stephenasmith/status/1615808582833868831">video</a> in his own defense, saying he’d compare any artist to what he considered to be an unbeatable performance from Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars in 2016 at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.
“I’m gonna own it,” he said in the video, which was posted to Twitter and Instagram. “I know what y’all trying to do, but I’m gonna own it because I get paid to speak for a living, so I need to be more careful.”
“I want Rihanna to know, you’re a superstar, you’re sensational, you’re spectacular, you’re no joke and you are a worthy person to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show,” he continued.
“Michael Jackson could still be alive and I would say, ‘He’s gotta measure up to that,’” Smith asserted in the video. “I’ve always said that. I meant it as no disrespect to Rihanna. I know she’s phenomenal, and she’s my sister. Nothing but love for her. But Beyoncé is my sister too. I got love for both of them. I just think that Beyoncé is the greatest performer out there today.”
“Rihanna, go do your thing,” Smith said. “I apologize for creating whatever brouhaha comes of this. I gotta be more careful, where people twist it and turn it into something it ain’t. My bad on that.”

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith launched a tirade during Friday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;First Take,&#8221; agreeing with LeBron James and saying that a suspension of &#8220;at least five games&#8221; for Brooklyn Nets guard <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/fans-deliver-silent-court-side-fight-anti-semitism-protest-to-nets-star-kyrie-irving/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kyrie Irving</a> was &#8220;excessive.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.mediaite.com/sports/stephen-a-smith-compares-kyrie-irvings-suspension-to-a-knee-on-his-neck/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Smith</a> took the assessment a bit further, however, saying that the suspension — which came about because Irving tweeted a clip from a film rife with <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/brooklyn-nets-suspend-kyrie-irving-after-he-refuses-to-apologize-for-tweeting-anti-semitic-movie/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anti-semitic tropes</a> (&#8220;Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America&#8221;) — was akin to people &#8220;trying to put their knee and keep their knee on Kyrie’s neck.&#8221;
Irving initially refused to apologize, which led to the suspension, but offered an <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/kyrie-irving-apologizes-for-posting-link-to-anti-semitic-film/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">apology</a> after he was suspended. &#8220;To all the Jewish families and communities that are hurt and affected from my post, I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize.&#8221;
And Smith argued that if NBA Commissioner Adam Silver — who is Jewish — could say that he didn&#8217;t believe Irving was anti-semitic, that should be the end of it.
&#8220;We got riots that took place in the streets a couple of years ago. And I told everyone back then; I said when George Floyd had that knee on his neck, what people didn’t get, outside of the black community, is that black folks were going off because we were saying from a figurative perspective, from a metaphorical perspective, we always feel like we got a knee on our neck,&#8221; Smith claimed. &#8220;And that’s where the frustration and the fulminant of vitriol and hostility and, dare I say; violence came shining through.&#8221;
Smith went on to draw a line from what happened to <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/ex-minneapolis-police-officers-found-guilty-of-violating-george-floyds-civil-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">George Floyd</a> — when he was killed in the custody of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin — to the way the team was treating Irving.
&#8220;So here we are again. Now, this doesn’t have anything to do with that in a literal perspective, but this is somebody or a bunch of people out there trying to put their knee and keep their knee on Kyrie’s neck. Kyrie does not deserve that,&#8221; Smith continued. &#8220;He made a mistake. He made a mistake; he had to apologize for it. He’s been embarrassed because of it. He’s cost himself money because of it. He’s been suspended because of it.&#8221;
Smith then argued that there were racial implications to Irving&#8217;s suspension as well, suggesting that if Irving was white, his suspension might have a definitive end point.
