The hosts of ABC&#8217;s daytime talk show &#8220;The View&#8221; were quick to circle the wagons when guest host Stephanie Grisham dared to suggest that President Joe Biden bore some responsibility for the inflation woes Americans are facing, particularly at the gas pump.
Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts opened the show by mocking freshman Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), who <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/breaking-trump-backed-rep-madison-cawthorn-loses-gop-primary-for-reelection/">lost his primary</a> to GOP state Sen. Chuck Edwards on Tuesday evening. But eventually, the former White House press secretary and spokeswoman for then-first lady Melania Trump brought the topic around to the general election — and the fact that some Americans blame Biden for inflation.

&#8220;I want to say this though,&#8221; Grisham interjected. &#8220;The country&#8217;s not doing well, and so I think that Biden does need to get some stuff in order. We have got high gas prices. We do have inflation. &#8230; Come to the midwest. I invite anybody to come to the midwest where farmers can’t afford fertilizer, they can’t afford fuel. People really are suffering at the grocery store, and there are a lot of things going on that I think could affect the poll.&#8221;
&#8220;And I would say this to you, go to New Jersey. Go to upstate New York. Anywhere in the state of New York, go to the state of New Jersey. Go anywhere in the states. We’re all suffering,&#8221; Goldberg pushed back.
&#8220;I’ll go with you. You come with me,&#8221; Grisham agreed.
&#8220;I have been with you. You have not been with me,&#8221; Goldberg claimed.
&#8220;I’ll come with you,&#8221; Grisham agreed again.
&#8220;I’ll tell you, everybody is suffering, but let’s place it in the places that it belongs. Okay?&#8221; Goldberg continued, insisting, &#8220;Gas prices aren’t bad because of anything Biden did. It’s just what he’s going to absorb.&#8221;
&#8220;There’s also a war going on in Ukraine,&#8221; Sunny Hostin added, filling in the White House&#8217;s boilerplate response to anyone complaining about gas prices.
&#8220;There’s a war going on, and everybody said, this is what we got to do. So we’re in the middle of it. People want baby food, baby stuff,&#8221; Goldberg continued, referencing the baby formula shortage. &#8220;That is also not on him. That’s on Abbott, but I noticed when people talk about these things, specifically what you were just saying, nobody ever says, here’s the cause of this, and here’s how we have to fight this.&#8221;
Goldberg did not address the fact that members of the Biden administration <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/top-biden-official-claims-administration-knew-about-baby-formula-shortage-last-year/">can&#8217;t seem to agree</a> on when they knew that the baby formula shortage was going to be a problem — and that even though a whistleblower from the Abbott plant <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/psaki-claims-white-house-is-on-top-of-baby-formula-shortage-but-hoarding-is-a-enormous-problem/">came forward in October</a> of 2021, that person was not interviewed until December.
&#8220;Now I see this guy – look. He doesn’t do everything I want him to do. He does a lot of stuff I’m very happy with, but he doesn’t do everything,&#8221; Goldberg concluded. But I’m going to give everybody their due when they do do something.&#8221;
&#8220;Same, but you proved my point. People don’t understand a lot of that, and it will affect the polls,&#8221; Grisham insisted.

&#8220;The View&#8221; got heated on Wednesday when guest host and former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham dared to disagree with her liberal co-hosts on the issues stemming from unchecked illegal immigration.
Grisham, who served in several roles in former President Donald Trump&#8217;s White House, has filled the ABC midday talk show&#8217;s lone conservative seat on several occasions since former co-host <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/conservative-fill-ins-named-for-meghan-mccain-at-the-view/">Meghan McCain departed</a>, and on Wednesday, the topic turned to immigration.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg opened the segment with a comment about Title 42 — the federal regulation that allows agents to turn would-be asylum seekers away at the border due to concerns about the continued spread of COVID-19 — and Republican objections to the Biden administration&#8217;s plan to <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/migrant-tsunami-will-worsen-due-to-title-42-rollback-former-trump-and-biden-border-patrol-chief-says/">end its use</a>.
Goldberg noted that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has suggested Republicans might not support the president&#8217;s next planned COVID-19-relief effort if the administration lifts Title 42, adding, &#8220;I’m not really sure what’s happening here. Should Republicans be using this to hold up this other bill? Or are they listening to – are they listening to Republican voters who want to keep the policy in place? I’m still not sure what – I thought it was a medical policy also, but –&#8221;
Grisham cut in then, saying that because she was from Arizona, she had seen firsthand what happened when <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/dereliction-of-duty-desantis-blasts-biden-for-ending-title-42-program-that-helped-block-illegal-immigration/">illegal immigrants</a> were allowed to flow across the border unchecked.
&#8220;I come from a border state so I can speak to it pretty well. Arizona — 20 years I lived there, and I’ve seen what open border policies can do to the country and to the people who are trying to get into this country,&#8221; Grisham said.
&#8220;What do you mean by open border?&#8221; co-host Sunny Hostin asked.
&#8220;People who are – well, like this. If they lift this, people are going to go from 7,000 people getting into the country every day to 18,000,&#8221; Grisham continued.
Hostin asked, &#8220;So you’ve seen open border policies. What do you mean by that?&#8221;
&#8220;I mean by letting people just come in and not enforcing and sending them back. In the previous administration, I’ll just say it that way, we had a zero tolerance – you need to go back, and you need to come into this country legally, which I agree with,&#8221; Grisham added, noting that she believed in creating a path to citizenship for those who had been brought across the border as young children.
&#8220;People are welcome here with open arms as long as they come here legally, but when people are able to just cross the borders willy-nilly, there’s also a criminal element, and I’ve seen the human trafficking that is done. There&#8217;s people that are called coyotes. They bring women and children across the border and leave them in the desert and do unspeakable things to them, and so to go from 7,000 to 18,000 people daily crossing into our border illegally, I don’t know how we would pay for it. I don’t know where we would put them, and it puts a lot of those people in danger,&#8221; Grisham explained.
Hostin later pushed back, saying that anyone who crossed the border and claimed asylum couldn&#8217;t be called &#8220;illegal,&#8221; firing back when asked whether or not it mattered how they crossed the border.
&#8220;It does not. When you say they’re coming in illegally, I take umbrage to that, especially because 14,000 Haitians were expelled under the Biden Administration,&#8221; she said.
Hostin went on to suggest that racism was at the root of the <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/why-just-africa-sunny-hostin-isnt-sure-bidens-travel-ban-is-any-better-than-trumps/">immigration problem</a>, noting that no one seemed to be upset about the refugees coming in from Afghanistan and Ukraine and adding, &#8220;So it seems to me that the law is okay for some people, but not okay for people that look like me. I don’t like that.&#8221;
&#8220;There are bad people who are also coming into this country,&#8221; Grisham pushed back, saying that an open border was like an advertisement to China that fentanyl could be easily trafficked into the country.
&#8220;Why does this sound like Fox News?&#8221; Joy Behar asked then.
&#8220;Because I’m a Republican,&#8221; Grisham reminded her.
&#8220;Are you spewing talking points here? What are your numbers? I don&#8217;t see stats,&#8221; Behar continued.
&#8220;I lived in Arizona. I saw these things,&#8221; Grisham continued.
&#8220;How much could you see? You’re one person,&#8221; Behar dismissed Grisham&#8217;s claim.
Co-host Sara Haines jumped in then to say that she loved the idea of being able to let everyone in, but she wasn&#8217;t certain the system was capable of handling the influx.
“The problem right now is our boat is not at its strongest. The lifeboat is not at its strongest,” she continued, pointing to the record inflation and other issues. “If you say, &#8216;I want to save everybody,&#8217; and the boat flips, you save no one. If you can’t put your own mask on first, you can’t help other people. We’re floundering.&#8221;
&#8220;So should we not follow the asylum law?&#8221; Hostin objected.
&#8220;You’re jumping straight across to a zero sum explanation,&#8221; Haines protested, saying again that her concern was whether or not the system was set up to handle the likely influx.
&#8220;I don’t know if we can handle it right now,&#8221; she said.

Co-host Joy Behar kicked off the conversation by attacking the people who still support former President Trump, noting that he was still raising money apparently to fund a new plane.
&#8220;They don&#8217;t see — these people who are giving him money don&#8217;t see the grift here?&#8221; Behar asked.
Grisham pushed back, saying that she understood there were people who still believed in him because she used to be one of them.
&#8220;I want those people to know that he laughs at them behind closed doors,&#8221; Grisham continued. &#8220;He does. I want people to know that, and I used to be there. I believed.&#8221;
&#8220;So for years you heard him do this, right? Laugh behind closed doors. Why did it take so long to find it so objectionable?&#8221; Navarro asked.
&#8220;I asked the same thing,&#8221; Hostin exclaimed, and Grisham said that she had <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/stephanie-grisham-steps-down-as-press-secretary-replaced-by-kayleigh-mcenany/">explained it before</a> but would be glad to do so again.
&#8220;It’s not just you. There’s an entire — we can fill up an entire library of people right now who were there being accomplices and being his minions for years,&#8221; Navarro added. &#8220;I think people deserve an explanation.&#8221;
&#8220;I gave it Tuesday and Wednesday and I’ll give it again today,&#8221; Grisham agreed, saying that she had originally worked for First Lady Melania Trump, but that things took a turn when she moved to the West Wing.
She went on to say that she had wanted to leave entirely, but that she was a single mom who still had to pay bills. Then Grisham took a shot at the liberal co-hosts, adding, &#8220;I knew because of, I’m sorry, people like yourself who are so against me that I would not be able to get a job anywhere.&#8221;
Going back to work for Melania gave her some &#8220;protection&#8221; from Trump, and her plan was to quietly finish the term until the riot on Capitol Hill happened.
&#8220;I said, hell no, I’m done,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I believed in him and half the country believed in him. When you keep attacking me, you’re attacking a lot of people out there who might want an off ramp, and it shows that —&#8221;
&#8220;For me it’s not about attacking you. For me it’s attacking and it’s holding accountable all the people —&#8221; Navarro pressed.
&#8220;I’m looking forward now and trying to change it and I will do everything I can to make sure he’s not elected,&#8221; Grisham pushed back.
&#8220;Why should people believe you now?&#8221; Navarro asked.
&#8220;I’m telling them the truth. This is not fun for me,&#8221; Grisham explained. &#8220;I could be at home with m dogs and family and chickens.&#8221;
&#8220;Is it not possible for someone to see the light and change in your mind?&#8221; Behar asked.
&#8220;Four years later? It takes — after what those people on both sides? After the way he treated immigrants? After what he said about Mexicans? After hearing the sexual assault boasts on tape? After seeing him make fun of a disabled reporter? You need four years?&#8221; Navarro asked.
&#8220;You don’t know the things I stayed in there and stopped. If we want to fight this out for the rest of this, I’m good to go, but I’m sorry. I’m sorry, and I want him to not be ever elected ever again,&#8221; Grisham protested.
&#8220;Maybe for me it’s a little personal because I took attacks for four years from people who were in that White House,&#8221; Navarro explained.
&#8220;I have a question for both of you. You&#8217;re part of the Republican Party and so are you, which is bizarre to somebody like me,&#8221; Hostin said to applause from the audience, turning to attack Navarro. &#8220;If we got to talk real, let’s talk real. Why are you, as a Latina, still part of the Republican Party?&#8221;
&#8220;Because —&#8221; Navarro began
&#8220;And why are you, having seen it first hand, still part of the Republican Party?&#8221; Hostin asked Grisham.
&#8220;Trump is not Republican Party,&#8221; Grisham replied.
&#8220;Is he not?&#8221; Hostin demanded.
&#8220;He’s not,&#8221; Grisham repeated.
&#8220;80% of the Republican voters think he should be,&#8221; Hostin objected.
&#8220;I’ll answer the question you posed as a Latina,&#8221; Navarro pushed back. &#8220;I think the worst that can happen to a minority group is to have one party take you for granted and think you’re going to vote for them because they have no other option, and to have another party that openly attacks and antagonizes you, and it wasn’t too long ago — it wasn’t Jurassic Park. It wasn’t dinosaurs roaming the earth when there were people like George W. Bush who came out and openly supported the Latino community and were able to get 44% of the vote and so I hope that one day there are two healthy parties competing for our vote and earning our support.&#8221;
&#8220;That doesn’t help anybody. Liz Cheney is still a Republican. She’s fighting from within the party. It’s important to fight within the party, don’t you think?&#8221; Behar asked.
&#8220;You know, I think that there’s a time to cut bait, and I think when you have a party that is so sick and so divisive, and so harmful to this country, I think standing in that party makes you complicit,&#8221; Hostin said.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg started off the segment by mentioning former Attorney General William Barr and his new book — in which he blames Trump for instigating the riot on January 6th — and she argued that Barr could have stopped him if he wanted to.
Goldberg also noted that Barr alleged Melania Trump was &#8220;smarter than her husband,&#8221; and she turned to Grisham for her reaction.
&#8220;She — she was really, really aware of optics, and so — she knew how to manipulate her husband,&#8221; Grisham said, adding that the former first lady had always known when to say, &#8220;Maybe we shouldn&#8217;t do that.&#8221;
&#8220;She definitely was more level-headed than he was,&#8221; Grisham continued. &#8220;I did see her many times stop him from even putting out tweets that were crazier than normal if you can imagine. I don’t know.&#8221;
&#8220;She was also a liar. She lied about her educational background, right?&#8221; Hostin claimed.
&#8220;She’s a birther,&#8221; co-host Joy Behar interjected.
&#8220;She’s a birther,&#8221; Hostin agreed, adding, &#8220;She claims to speak — she claims to speak several languages, but there isn’t —&#8221;
&#8220;And I have heard her speak a few of them,&#8221; Grisham pushed back a little bit.
&#8220;Not five though I’m sure,&#8221; Hostin insisted.
&#8220;I’ve heard her speak three of them,&#8221; Grisham confirmed.
&#8220;Plus English?&#8221; Goldberg asked.
&#8220;One of those is English?&#8221; Hostin asked, and Grisham said yes, it was.
&#8220;It’s really two foreign languages she speaks,&#8221; Behar argued.
&#8220;Ok, that&#8217;s fair, but when we would say five, we were including English if that makes sense,&#8221; Grisham added.
&#8220;So she speaks three foreign languages, ok,&#8221; Goldberg responded. &#8220;That’s two more than I do. I got to tip my hat to her, you know?&#8221;
The ladies then went on to mock her for allegedly hating to put up Christmas decorations and to criticize the way she redid the Rose Garden.
The conversation then turned to Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Be Best&#8221; initiative, which brought languages back into the conversation.
&#8220;She said, &#8216;Be best.&#8217; What is she talking about when she says &#8216;Be best&#8217;? That’s the vaguest slogan I’ve ever heard.
&#8220;I could talk about that this whole show, but I&#8217;m not going to do that to you guys,&#8221; Grisham laughed.
&#8220;Who came up with that, anyway? Was it her?&#8221; Behar pressed.
&#8220;She did. She did,&#8221; Grisham confirmed. &#8220;She did what she does.&#8221;
Hostin suggested that she should have said something different like &#8220;do your best,&#8221; or &#8220;be the best,&#8221; but Behar interrupted.
&#8220;Maybe it was a language issue &#8230;&#8221; Behar suggested.

‘She Claims To Speak Several Languages’: ‘The View’ Questions How Many Languages Melania Trump Really Speaks

Stephanie Grisham, who formerly served as chief of staff to former First Lady Melania Trump and briefly as press secretary to former President Donald Trump, told CNN on Tuesday that she &#8220;probably&#8221; didn&#8217;t tell the truth during past Fox News interviews and detailed an example of a &#8220;lie&#8221; she told while representing Mr. Trump.
Grisham told CNN’s “New Day” that &#8220;she always wanted to host a press briefing during her time at the White House, but knew she would have to lie and therefore couldn’t bring herself to do it,&#8221; the Daily Caller <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/10/05/cnn-john-berman-brianna-keilar-question-trust-stephanie-grisham-book-lying/">detailed</a>.
As a follow-up question, host John Berman asked Grisham if she was “always truthful&#8221; when she did Fox News interviews while serving the Trump administration.
“I probably wasn’t,” Grisham said on-air. “And I regret that so much.”
The former press secretary then detailed a &#8220;lie&#8221; she says she told on behalf of then-President Trump, concerning former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
“I worked with John Kelly, and he was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great president,” Grisham <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/26/politics/john-kelly-trump-yes-man/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said</a> in a 2019 press release, in response to Kelly criticism of Trump.
Grisham told CNN she doesn&#8217;t &#8220;speak that way&#8221; and that the statement was &#8220;dictated&#8221; to her by Trump &#8220;word for word.&#8221;
She added that she released the statement after speaking to a couple friends who agreed with her that the comments were &#8220;nuts.&#8221;
Trump likely would have &#8220;yelled and screamed&#8221; at her, or perhaps &#8220;fired&#8221; her right away if she refused to release the statement, Grisham told CNN, calling the release of the statement one of her “biggest regrets.”
In the book, she issued an apology to Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, Grisham said.
As highlighted by The Daily Caller, neither CNN host, Berman nor Brianna Keilar, questioned why the public should trust that Grisham&#8217;s words are truthful in her new book after admitting to lying.

Steve Scalise (R-LA), a victim of left-wing violence in 2017, has already publicly refuted a claim from Grisham&#8217;s book.
In her tell-all, Grisham claims Melania refused to meet Rep. Scalise at the White House after he was shot because she “already said hello” to the Republican at the hospital.
Quote-tweeting a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/melania-trump-refused-scalise-meeting-white-house-after-shooting-grisham-2021-10">post</a> from Insider reporting on the book claim, Scalise wrote via Twitter on Monday, “This is how the fake news media machine against President Trump and [Melania Trump] works. This never happened. My family went to visit the White House while I was still in the hospital and were graciously given a tour by President and Mrs. Trump.”
The Republican included three photos showing his family meeting with the Trumps — both President Donald Trump and Melania — at the White House.
In a statement <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/melania-trump-refused-scalise-meeting-white-house-after-shooting-grisham-2021-10">to</a> Insider, Scalise said he and his family never went to the White House for an unscheduled visit after he was released from the hospital, further refuting Grisham’s claim.
Grisham in response told Fox News she was referring to a different visit to the White House than the one Scalise posted about on Monday. “I respect Steve Scalise and wouldn’t expect he’d know about a conversation that he was not party to,” the former press sec <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scalise-shoots-back-after-book-claims-melania-trump-refused-to-visit-his-family-pathetic">said</a>. “Perhaps he is conflating two separate events. Mrs. Trump chose not to greet him in the Blue Room after he was discharged from the hospital even though she was just upstairs. I found this to be disrespectful to Congressman Scalise and his family – his tweet does not contradict what I wrote in my book.”

Stephanie Grisham, who formerly served as press secretary to former First Lady Melania Trump, says in her new tell-all book that the Secret Service used to refer to Mrs. Trump as &#8220;Rapunzel.&#8221;
&#8220;The story of &#8216;Rapunzel&#8217; is about a beautiful woman trapped in a tower, and Grisham said she assumed the former first lady got the name because she reportedly rarely left the White House,&#8221; the Daily Caller <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/10/01/former-donald-trump-press-sec-nickname-melania-trump-given-secret-service/">detailed</a>, citing The Washington Post. &#8220;Because Melania reportedly rarely left the White House, agents requested the assignment of protecting her, because it allowed them more time to spend with their families, Grisham wrote, the piece noted.&#8221;
The Post received a copy of the book days before its set release date of October 5.
Mrs. Trump last month responded to news of Grisham&#8217;s tell-all book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House,” which promises to expose “surprising new scandals.”
“The intent behind this book is obvious. It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behavior in the White House,” Mrs. Trump’s office <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/melania-responds-to-former-press-secretary-writing-tell-all-book-digging-up-new-scandals">said</a> in a statement.
According to Politico, Mrs. Trump&#8217;s mention of Grisham’s “failed personal relationships” appears to be a reference to her former aide’s “past relationship with former Trump aide Max Miller.”
“Citing three people familiar with the incident, Politico Magazine <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/07/28/max-miller-ohio-congress-trump-profile-500187" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported in July</a> that the relationship ‘ended when he pushed her against a wall and slapped her in the face in his Washington apartment after she accused him of cheating on her,’” Politico noted. “He denied the allegation.”
“Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs. Trump,” the former First Lady’s office concluded the statement.
Grisham also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgruntled-former-trump-press-sec-unloads-hair-sex-putin-and-george-h-w-bush">alleges</a> in the book that White House staff lied to Trump so Air Force One could be used to transport George H.W. Bush’s casket.
“When former President George H. W. Bush died in 2018, White House staff wanted to follow tradition to allow the Bush family use of Air Force One. But, according to Grisham, they hid that plan from Trump. ‘We knew he wouldn’t be OK with that, even for a brief trip,’ Grisham writes. ‘Dead bodies, death, sickness—those things really seemed to creep him out.’ In the end, the plane was loaned to the Bushes for the funeral,” The Daily Beast reported.
Grisham served as press secretary and chief of staff for Mrs. Trump after serving as White House press secretary and communications director for the president. Notably, Grisham never gave a briefing to the media as press secretary for POTUS. She resigned from the White House on January 6 during the breach on the U.S. Capitol.

Days later, however, Mrs. Trump released a lengthy statement condemning violence.
&#8220;I am disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week,&#8221; the statement said in part. &#8220;I find it shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks, and false misleading accusations on me – from people who are looking to be relevant and have an agenda. This time is solely about healing our country and its citizens. It should not be used for personal gain.&#8221;
&#8220;Our Nation must heal in a civil manner,&#8221; Mrs. Trump added. &#8220;Make no mistake about it, I absolutely condemn the violence that has occurred on our Nation’s Capitol. Violence is never acceptable.&#8221;

“Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?” Grisham asked the first lady.
A minute later, Melania replied with a one-word answer: “No.” At that moment, she was at the White House preparing for a photo shoot of a rug she had selected, according to exclusive excerpts of Grisham’s forthcoming book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in The Trump White House,” obtained by POLITICO.
Grisham, a years-long Trump loyalist who resigned within hours of that text exchange, also writes that she asked Melania a couple times whether she should reach out to JILL BIDEN during the transition to set up the traditional inauguration tea. But instead of setting up the meeting, Melania told her that they should “see what the West Wing does.” The reason, according to Grisham: Melania, like her husband, believed the election was illegitimate.</blockquote>
Notably, Mrs. Trump issued a statement days following the breach at the U.S. Capitol to condemn violence.

Closest Melania Aide To Publish Tell-All Book Trashing Trump Family 

An opinion piece by the Forbes Media chief content officer and an editor of Forbes Magazine threatens any company that might hire any of Trump&#8217;s White House press secretaries, past or present.
After claiming he was issuing a “truth reckoning” and listing all of Trump’s White House press secretaries <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/randalllane/2021/01/07/a-truth-reckoning-why-were-holding-those-who-lied-for-trump-accountable/?__twitter_impression=true&amp;sh=22f1a5fa5710">in his op-ed</a>, Randall Lane, CCO of Forbes Media and editor of Forbes Magazine, writes:

Lane praised former President Barack Obama’s press secretary Jay Carney and former President Bill Clinton’s press secretary Joe Lockhart as having “left the White House with their reputations in various stages of intact, made millions taking their skills — and credibility — to corporate America.”
In response to the Forbes op-ed, <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/business/joseph-vazquez/2021/01/11/blacklist-forbes-magazine-threatens-companies-hire-trump">Newsbusters</a> commented, “This is the same <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-bozell/2014/09/27/bozell-graham-column-jay-carneys-pinocchio-problem">Jay Carney who made a career out of spewing falsehoods</a> on behalf of his former boss. During one 2012 press conference, Carney had said that the rate of government spending under Obama was lower than &#8216;all of his predecessors since Dwight Eisenhower, including all of his Republican predecessors.&#8217; That false statement earned him a three-Pinocchios rating from Washington Post &#8216;fact-checker&#8217; <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/people/glenn-kessler/">Glenn Kessler</a>.”
Lockhart, who became a CNN political analyst years after he left the Clinton White House, where he served as press secretary from 1998-2000, has a history of his own. In 2018, he stated, “If you look at the Russia stuff and the campaign finance stuff and the fact that 40,000 votes going the other way over three states, we now don’t know, and that’s why this is important. It’s not the campaign finance. It’s not, ‘Did they have a meeting at Trump Tower with some Russians?’ It’s &#8216;Was he legitimately elected?&#8217;”
In January 2020, Lockhart <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-analyst-joe-lockhart-admits-he-fabricated-conversation-between-gop-senators/">admitted</a> that he made up a conversation between two Republican senators that he claimed were stunned about what they were learning during President Donald Trump&#8217;s Senate trial.
Lockhart tweeted: &#8220;Overheard convo between two Republican Senators who only watch Fox News. &#8216;is this stuff real? I haven&#8217;t heard any of this before. I thought it was all about a server. If half the stuff Schiff is saying is true, we&#8217;re up shit&#8217;s creek. Hope the White House has exculpatory evidence.[&#8216;]&#8221;
After some time passed, Lockhart added a second tweet to his first tweet, writing, &#8220;Ok maybe I made up the convo, but you know that&#8217;s exactly what they&#8217;re thinking.&#8221;

Special U.S. envoy to Northern Ireland Mick Mulvaney, former chief of staff to President Donald Trump, announced his resignation from the White House on Thursday, citing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-shots-fired-inside-capital-rioters-storm-senate-members-of-congress-don-gas-masks">rioters</a> at the United States Capitol on Wednesday.
“I called [Secretary of State] Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I can’t do it. I can’t stay,” Mulvaney <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/07/mick-mulvaney-resigns-from-trump-administration-expects-others-to-follow.html">told</a> CNBC News.
The former chief of staff said he spoke to others who are planning to resign too but are currently staying on &#8220;because they’re worried the president might put someone worse in.&#8221;
“Those who choose to stay, and I have talked with some of them, are choosing to stay because they’re worried the president might put someone worse in,” Mulvaney said.
Matthew Pottinger, deputy to National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, resigned Wednesday. Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff for first lady Melania Trump, and White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews, have also resigned, CNBC noted, adding that it is rumored O’Brien&#8217;s resignation is imminent, too.
Mulvaney highlighted yesterday&#8217;s chaos at the U.S. Capitol in his rationale for resigning. “We didn’t sign up for what you saw last night,” he said. “We signed up for making America great again, we signed up for lower taxes and less regulation. The president has a long list of successes that we can be proud of.”
“But all of that went away yesterday,&#8221; he added, &#8220;and I think you’re right to ask the question as to ‘how did it happen?’”
Trump, Mulvaney said, is &#8220;not the same as he was eight months ago.”
“The folks who spent time away from our families, put our careers on the line to go work for Donald Trump, and we did have those successes to look back at, but now it will always be, ‘Oh yeah, you work for the guy who tried to overtake the government,’” the former chief of staff said, adding, “That legacy is gone as of yesterday and that’s extraordinarily disappointing to those of us who work for him.&#8221;

Resignations Stack Up At White House: ‘I Can’t Do It. I Can’t Stay Here’

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham will be stepping down from her role and returning to the First Lady&#8217;s office, where she will serve as Melania Trump&#8217;s spokesperson and Chief of Staff, the White House said in a statement Tuesday morning.
The White House was rumored, as recently as a week ago, to be making a move in the press office, but Grisham denied reports. Tuesday morning, however, it became clear Grisham, who never held a single press conference as the president&#8217;s spokeswoman and head of the White House communications department, would be redeployed.
New White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/kayleigh-mcenany-replaces-stephanie-grisham-trump-press-secretary-2020-4">Business Insider</a> says, made the decision to swap out Grisham as part of a full Oval Office &#8220;reorganization.&#8221; No other senior staff changes have been announced just yet but are expected.
To take Grisham&#8217;s place, the White House tapped former Trump campaign surrogate Kayleigh McEnany, who had been working on the president&#8217;s 2020 re-election campaign.
&#8220;McEnany will be Trump&#8217;s fourth press secretary in under four years, succeeding Grisham, Sarah Sanders, and Sean Spicer in a communications office that has been marred by turnover,&#8221; BI reported Tuesday. &#8220;McEnany has been a constant presence in the pro-Trump media and political sphere, going to bat for the president since the 2016 presidential election and onward.&#8221;
Although McEnany is best known as a CNN political pundit, she has served in a variety of everyday political roles, most notably as an intern and then campaign official for President George W. Bush. She went on to work for Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee before becoming a surrogate for then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in 2016.
Grisham will not leave her role immediately, as the White House wants to make the transition as smooth as possible amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has seen Trump rise to the job of being his own best public relations specialist.
“I continue to be honored to serve both the President and First Lady in the Administration,” Grisham said in a statement to media Tuesday morning. “My replacements will be announced in the coming days and I will stay in the West Wing to help with a smooth transition for as long as needed.”
Grisham was sharply criticized by members of the media for failing to hold a &#8220;daily briefing,&#8221; which had become commonplace under the Obama administration, when the media was much friendlier and less aggressive toward the White House. When the briefings became contentions &#8212; almost daily knock-downs between the press and the Press Secretary &#8212; the White House press office stopped holding the events, preferring to schedule press conferences only when needed.
Lately, though, the president has been holding his own daily press conference to update the nation on the Federal response to coronavirus &#8212; a development that the perennially unsatisfied press corps has also criticized sharply. Some members of the media have even called for Trump&#8217;s daily briefings to be left off air, so as to avoid &#8220;confusing&#8221; Americans with &#8220;disinformation.&#8221;
The First Lady&#8217;s office, at least, is happy to welcome Grisham back.
“I am excited to welcome Stephanie back to the team in this new role,” the First Lady said Tuesday. “She has been a mainstay and true leader in the Administration from even before day one, and I know she will excel as Chief of Staff.&#8221;

Stephanie Grisham Steps Down As Press Secretary, Replaced By Kayleigh McEnany

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham called out the media and Democratic Party on Friday over the way that they responded to the Trump-approved airstrike that killed Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani.
Soleimani, leader of Iran&#8217;s Quds Force, which is a designated terrorist organization, was killed on Thursday in an airstrike as he was traveling in an convoy as it was leaving Baghdad International Airport.
Grisham, who made the remarks on Fox Business Network’s &#8220;Lou Dobbs Tonight&#8221; with host Lou Dobbs, called out The Washington Post and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer.

Transcript from White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham&#8217;s interview:
Dobbs: Good to have you with us. The president is to be congratulated, the administration, and the national security team in particular for taking out a man who is responsible for hundreds and hundreds of American lives being lost in Iraq and the spread of state-sponsored terrorism from Iran. Your thoughts tonight, the mood in the White House and within the administration.
Grisham: Well, certainly it&#8217;s a great day for our country, because of the president&#8217;s decisive action thousands more American lives and other lives will be saved. This man, this terrorist was brutal, and not only was he responsible for hundreds of deaths of Americans, but thousands of horrible injuries to Americans and others. He wasn&#8217;t going to stop targeting Americans. That&#8217;s something to think about. The president, you know, he knew there was imminent danger. We had good Intel that there was imminent danger and that Americans were going to be killed and so he took the bold and often times hard action that he had to as president knowing that he was going to save lives and save lives then and in the future too.
Dobbs: And to hear the Democrats, at least many of them, tell it, this was an imposition on a stable world order in the middle East that only President Trump seems to be able to affect. I mean, it&#8217;s outrageous what I have heard today in the course of the morning, earlier, from the Democratic leadership. It&#8217;s as if they are completely unhinged.
Grisham: Well, they are. You know, I continue to be so disappointed by these Democrats. No matter what this president does, it is not good enough. The Democrats should be happy along with the rest of this country that American lives were saved, and instead they were complaining that they weren&#8217;t notified. You know, time is of the essence when things like this are going down and the president does have constitutional authority to protect Americans when they are in danger. Also, I would say that, you know, Schumer was complaining that he wasn&#8217;t briefed, and then when he got briefed today, he was complaining that it wasn&#8217;t good enough and he still had questions.
Dobbs: I think Chuck Schumer was born complaining and I wouldn&#8217;t expect any quick change in his behavior. It is also I think a good case could be built, it would be utterly irrational of the Trump Administration to brief the very people who are trying to unseat him, remove him from power, to overthrow his presidency and to have done everything in their power to do so. I mean, I just can&#8217;t understand why a neutral voice in this &#8212; say in the national media &#8212; isn&#8217;t saying what are the Democrats talking about? And why would they expect anything other than to be found untrustworthy by the president of the United States?
Grisham: Well, I&#8217;m going to say because there is no mutual voice in the media right now. You know, the Washington Post talked about Soleimani as the most revered military leader. Again, we&#8217;re getting into, you know, he was a terrorist. He was a murderer. Watching cable news today, it was like they were hoping for retaliation. You know, they are like scaring the American public for ratings. I don&#8217;t understand why, again, the media and the Democrats aren&#8217;t happy along with the rest of this country that our president took the bold action to kill a murderer. We should all be very proud today, and we should all be very happy that American lives were saved.
