In the latest episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/facts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facts</a>,” Daily Wire Editor Emeritus <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ben-shapiro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Shapiro</a> explains the history behind the World Economic Forum and what Americans need to know about its power-hungry agenda. 
In the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/tbdeee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">episode</a>, released on Saturday ahead of the WEF’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, next week, Shapiro explained the history of the organization and how it evolved into the entity it is today. He said that the organization had little respect for representative democracy or liberty, but wanted to impose top-down control. 
“The World Economic Forum was first established in 1971, led by a German engineer, economist, and professor with a master&#8217;s from Harvard. His name was Klaus Schwab. Schwab was the originator of a theory of governance and markets he called stakeholder capitalism, defined in opposition to shareholder capitalism,” Shapiro said. 
Shareholder capitalism is when businesses primarily focus on returns to investors while stakeholder capitalism suggests that businesses should answer to the world at large. 
“This philosophy, of course, means that those who control corporations ought to act as philosopher kings, answerable to no one but their own perceptions of moral duty. Unsurprisingly, this particular argument is attractive to those who love the idea of top down command and control,” Shapiro said. 
In recent years, the WEF has pushed for a “Great Reset” of capitalism to transform industry in pursuit of the so-called fourth industrial revolution. This includes pushing the concepts of “social sustainability” and “environmental sustainability” onto global corporations. It’s a call to revolutionize the world and how it currently works, Shapiro explained.

“Almost certainly the new revolution will look like top down social engineering by the big brain, all in the name of smoothing out the bumps of technological change. Regulators will work hand-in-glove with big business to work out the rules for your life,” Shapiro explained.
He also said that pushing this global agenda of elite control conflicted with traditional Western concepts like liberty and representative democracy, which were disliked by the WEF.  
“If all of this sounds frightening, that&#8217;s because it is. The arrogance of the business and governmental elite seeking to control all of us is absolutely breathtaking. The policies discussed at Davos shape the elite caste in nearly all Western countries. When you hear about the end of carbon-based fossil fuels or a global tax regime or corporate governmental cooperation, a lot of that is coming from Davos and the World Economic Forum,” Shapiro concluded. “And when those globalists get together at Davos, understand the ideas they are discussing will have a real world effect on you, your business, your church, and your family.”

Elon Musk, the entrepreneur who serves as CEO of Space X, Tesla, and Twitter, reacted harshly after Klaus Schwab, the chairman of the World Economic Forum, preached at the WEF’s summit about an attempt to “master the future.”
Schwab, the world’s leading proponent of “stakeholder capitalism,” made his remarks while at an awards ceremony for &#8220;cultural leaders&#8221; who have worked to promote things like climate change.
“We couldn’t meet at a more challenging time,” Schwab declared. “We are confronted with so many crises simultaneously. What does it need to master the future? I think to have a platform, where all stakeholders of global society are engaged; governments, business, civil society, young generation, and I could go on, I think is a first step to meet all the challenges.&#8221;
Musk lacerated Schwab and his cobelligerents, tweeting, “‘Master the Future’ doesn’t sound ominous at all. How is WEF/Davos even a thing? Are they trying to be the boss of Earth!?”

The WEF, which was founded by Schwab, states that its mission is to “demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. … Our activities are shaped by a unique institutional culture founded on the stakeholder theory, which asserts that an organization is accountable to all parts of society.”
That, in essence, means corporations are no longer accountable to their shareholders, instead serving “societal aspirations,” as the <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/12/davos-manifesto-2020-the-universal-purpose-of-a-company-in-the-fourth-industrial-revolution/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Davos Manifesto</a> acknowledges.
During the WEF&#8217;s meeting, American leaders have reportedly enjoyed a lavish lunch with some of the planet’s most powerful corporate leaders and Schwab.
Officials such as Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), and “a few members of the House of Representatives” took part in a luncheon at the conference alongside prominent executives on Monday, according to a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/16/world-economic-forum-manchin-sinema-attend-davos-luncheon-with-ceos.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from CNBC.
One attendee told the outlet that Coons and Manchin each addressed the crowd of business leaders. Coons reportedly discussed efforts to fund the Ukrainian war effort against Russia, while Manchin commented on the merits of American energy independence.
Coons told the outlet that “about 50 CEOs” would attend the luncheon at the Hotel Schatzalp, a property situated in the Alps and decorated in belle époque style. Among the executives in attendance at the lunch was Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Antonio Neri.
