The captains of Angel City Football Club, a professional soccer team, have labeled their teammate Elizabeth Eddy racist and transphobic after the player called in an <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/27/opinion/national-womens-soccer-league-must-adopt-gender-standards-to-keep-growing/">op-ed</a> for stricter gender guidelines in the National Women&#8217;s Soccer League (NWSL).
Sarah Gorden and Angelica Anderson claim the entire Angel City FC is disgusted with Eddy&#8217;s op-ed.
The piece, published in the New York Post on October 27, stated that women should be the only players competing in the NWSL in order to grow and protect the league. Eddy said, &#8220;I’m concerned that without clarity about who the league is for, it will lose its identity and its momentum.&#8221;
The professional soccer player suggested gene testing, which other sports leagues have implemented, as one way to ensure the women playing women&#8217;s soccer are actually women.
&#8220;The NWSL must adopt a clear standard,&#8221; Eddy wrote. &#8220;One option is all players must be born with ovaries, as the FA requires. Another option is an SRY gene test, like those World Athletics and World Boxing implemented.&#8221;
Her teammates responded negatively.
&#8220;The undertones come across as transphobic, and racist as well,&#8221; Sarah Gorden said at a press conference, the recording of which was posted to the team&#8217;s official <a href="https://x.com/weareangelcity/status/1984318024518631508?s=12&amp;t=A3fcQmBTc_xjf_6w2Ow4nA">X account</a>.

Gorden went on to say in the video that the op-ed, combined with the featured image being of a black player, was &#8220;inherently racist.&#8221;
&#8220;As a mixed woman with a black family, I&#8217;m devastated by this article,&#8221; Gorden added.
Anderson said that when she thinks of Los Angeles, she thinks of inclusivity, which Eddy actually said she stands for in her op-ed.
&#8220;Addressing this challenge entails remembering why women’s sports categories exist in the first place,&#8221; Eddy said. &#8220;Not to exclude but to create a space where female athletes can physically compete on equal footing.&#8221;

This week, NFL fans launched a petition to have an alternate Super Bowl halftime show featuring country singer George Strait. 66,000 signatures so far. Roger Goodell, however, is not moved. It&#8217;s all in response to the NFL tapping Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny for America’s largest stage, giving a platform to a man who openly hates America. 
But not all Puerto Ricans share Bad Bunny&#8217;s sentiment. Samuel Rodriguez is a pastor of Puerto Rican descent who has advised three U.S. Presidents, been a prolific author and movie producer, and has a much different outlook on the United States. In fact, he says the rapper doesn&#8217;t come close to representing traditional Hispanic values. It&#8217;s certainly worth your time. —The Daily Wire

As an American of Puerto Rican descent, I live in tension. I admire Bad Bunny. He is a generational talent, creative, charismatic, and relentless. He rose from the barrios of Vega Baja to the summit of global culture. He did not inherit wealth or privilege. He succeeded through determination, resilience, and hard work. Even those who do not understand his lyrics recognize his artistry and marketing brilliance. He has become a global symbol of Latino influence.
My admiration, however, stops there. As the world prepares to watch his Super Bowl halftime show next February, my heart aches. For all his brilliance, Bad Bunny misunderstands both Puerto Rico and America. His refusal to stand for “God Bless America” during the Major League Baseball playoffs at Yankee Stadium was not an act of protest, it was a moment of detachment. Millions of us who cherish both the island and the mainland felt that sting. We love America; We appreciate its Christian foundation, promise, and opportunity. Simply stated, we believe God has blessed this nation.
Unfortunately, much of what Bad Bunny stands for and espouses in his music not only fails to resonate with many Hispanics in America, but it also fails to honor and understand the community’s deep love for this country.

I will be the first to acknowledge that America is not perfect. But despite that, it remains blessed. This nation is not anti-immigrant. It supports legal immigration.
Hispanics know this better than anyone. Many of us lived that journey or watched our parents walk it. We support borders and order not out of cruelty but out of conviction. We believe in compassion expressed through law. <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/06/26/trump-harris-latino-voters-2024-election-pew" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.axios.com/2025/06/26/trump-harris-latino-voters-2024-election-pew&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1761311002633000&amp;usg=AOvVaw197pP1ngxt9G7_phoNF8Bb">Nearly half of Hispanic voters supported President Trump in 2024</a>. More than half of Hispanic men did the same. That was not betrayal. It reflected deeply held values.
These traditional Hispanic values — faith, family, and freedom — stand in contrast to much of what Bad Bunny promotes. His embrace of transgender ideology and sexually explicit performances does not represent the Latino family gathered around the table after Sunday church. We love God. We honor family. We understand freedom as responsibility, not rebellion. The Latino vote has not drifted to the Right, it has returned home to convictions that have always defined us.
Hispanics also see dissonance in Bad Bunny’s condemnation of capitalism, given that he lives from its blessings. He has praised socialist regimes such as Venezuela, yet his success story could not exist without the free market. He thrives in a system that rewards risk, creativity, and persistence. One cannot criticize capitalism while enjoying everything it provides.
The Hispanic future in America is not secular, cynical, or socialist. It is spiritual, hopeful, and devoted to freedom. We pray. We protect our families. We work hard. We still believe that God blesses nations that honor Him.
But before all of this, Bad Bunny must recognize one fundamental truth: He is an American. Every Puerto Rican is. We are born citizens of the United States. We do not need a passport to enter this nation, but we do need humility to understand what a privilege that is.
Bad Bunny may not need a passport, but he needs perspective. He needs humility. He needs clarity about what America truly represents for Puerto Ricans and for every dreamer who still believes this country offers the chance to rise.
America is not flawless. Yet it remains the most transformative and opportunity-rich nation in human history. My prayer is that when Bad Bunny steps onto that stage, gratitude will replace defiance — gratitude for a nation that gave a kid from Puerto Rico the chance to conquer the world.

Footage has emerged from the moments after former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was involved in a stabbing incident in Indianapolis, early Saturday morning.
Sanchez, who suffered serious injuries, was subsequently arrested and charged with battery for his role in the incident.
According to the footage, which was <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/06/sports/bloody-mark-sanchez-seen-stumbling-down-indianapolis-sidewalk-after-being-stabbed-in-fight-with-grease-truck-driver/">obtained</a> by the New York Post, Sanchez appears bloodied and stumbling along a sidewalk and clutching the right side of his lower chest.
The former QB reportedly stumbled from an alleyway into a nearby bar, where paramedics were called. He was treated for stab wounds that initially left him in critical condition. By Saturday, it was confirmed by Fox Sports that Sanchez was in stable condition and recovering.
After initial reports indicated Sanchez could be the victim of a random stabbing incident, subsequent reporting revealed that he allegedly punched a 69-year-old truck driver outside of a bar, which led to a bloody escalation. The altercation was apparently sparked over a parking dispute.
Sanchez was arrested and charged in the incident, and is now <a href="https://fox59.com/news/indycrime/former-nfl-qb-mark-sanchez-charged-after-surveillance-video-shows-alleged-fight-in-downtown-indy-alley/">facing</a> misdemeanor criminal charges of Battery Resulting in Injury, Public Intoxication, and Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle.
Witnesses say Sanchez’s behavior was erratic and that he seemed intoxicated prior to the incident. In apparent self-defense, the victim stabbed Sanchez. The truck driver was hospitalized with severe facial wounds, but is now stable, according to a statement from his family.

Indianapolis police initially <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/plot-twist-nfl-star-mark-sanchez-charged-with-battery-after-being-stabbed">indicated</a> on Saturday that two men were in a “physical disturbance” in downtown Indianapolis around 12:30 a.m., with one man suffering stab wounds and the other cuts.
Police said in the statement that the fight was “an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.”
On Saturday afternoon, Fox Sports released a statement confirming that Sanchez was recovering and “in stable condition.” Sanchez currently works as a Fox Sports analyst.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” the statement said. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Former NFL quarterback and current Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was charged with battery after a fight in downtown Indianapolis that left him hospitalized with stab wounds on Saturday shortly after midnight, police and the TV network said.
Indianapolis police charged Sanchez, 38, with battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, all misdemeanors. Sanchez is still in the hospital and was not booked in the county jail, police said in a statement, adding that final decisions on charges will be made by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office did not immediately return a request for comment.
An earlier statement from Indianapolis police said two men were in a “physical disturbance” in downtown Indianapolis around 12:30 a.m., with one receiving stab wounds and the other cuts. A statement from Fox Sports said Sanchez was in stable condition in the hospital.

Police said the fight was “an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.” The other man’s name was not released. Indianapolis police do not identify victims or suspects “unless the suspect is arrested, charged or being sought,” the statement said.
Sanchez played 10 seasons in the NFL, starting with the New York Jets for five years before short stints with several other franchises. He has not played in the National Football League since 2018.
He was slated to cover the Sunday game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Fox Sports. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support,” the network said in a statement posted on X.
“Sending our thoughts and love to Mark Sanchez and his family. Hoping for a speedy recovery, 6,” said the Jets, referencing his jersey number.

The stabbing took place on a street in downtown Indianapolis, according to reporting from TMZ. In addition Sanchez, one other person was injured.

For an episode that aired on Sunday evening, UFC President Dana White told CBS&#8217;s &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; that in his mind, there was no such thing as being &#8220;too masculine.&#8221;
White, who spoke at the Republican National Conventions in 2016 and 2024 and supported President Donald Trump through three campaigns, spoke with correspondent Jon Wertheim about the concept of &#8220;toxic masculinity&#8221; and whether or not the culture was shifting around that idea.
Wertheim began by quoting a term he said White had used in the past, saying that he&#8217;d decried the &#8220;wussification of America&#8221; — and White suggested that the word he&#8217;d used had actually begun with a different letter, but that he understood why that might be censored for broadcast television.

The UFC is expected to hold an event at the White House in 2026 as part of America&#8217;s 250th birthday festivities — an event that both Trump and White have independently confirmed.
&#8220;We’re literally going to take over Washington, D.C., that week. We’re going to do the weigh-ins there. We’re going to have the weigh-in events. And we’ll have fan events all week. We’re going to do our expo there and just a total Washington, D.C., takeover,&#8221; White said of the planned event.

The NFL is facing major criticism following its announcement that artist Bad Bunny will perform at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.
Critics are pointing out that the decision appears political as Bad Bunny, who hails from Puerto Rico, has refused to perform in the United States due to his disagreement with immigration enforcement and has openly denigrated Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, calling them “motherf***ers” and “sons of bitches” in a <a href="https://x.com/MillyMendezpr/status/1935082845803839745">video</a> he posted to Instagram in June.
The three-time Grammy Award winner said during an <a href="https://i-d.co/article/bad-bunny-puerto-rico-residency-issue-375-cover/">interview</a> earlier this month that he didn’t book any tour stops in the United States because he was worried ICE agents would target concert attendees.
“&#8230;There was the issue of — like, f***ing ICE could be outside (my concert). And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
The singer, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, released a <a href="https://media.nfl.com/news-and-releases/music-entertainment/global-sensation-bad-bunny-to-perform-at-apple-music-super-bowl-">statement</a> Sunday about performing at the Super Bowl. 
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history,” he said. 
Roc Nation will produce the show in conjunction with Apple Music. Company chairman Jay-Z said in a statement, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
The move is being interpreted as a political statement because Ocasio has been outspoken in his political beliefs. He endorsed Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election. 
Bad Bunny also supports the blurring of gender roles. “What defines a man, what defines being masculine, what defines being feminine?” he <a href="https://www.gq.com/story/bad-bunny-june-cover-profile">said</a> in a 2022 interview with GQ. “To me, a dress is a dress.” The Left celebrates the singer for wearing makeup and dresses as a way to protest against traditional masculinity.
On July 4, the singer released a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU5V5WZVcVE">music video</a> for his song, “NUEVAYoL,” which included a voice meant to sound like President Trump apologizing for his crackdown on illegal immigration. 
“I want to apologize to the immigrants in America. I mean the United States. I know America is the whole continent,” the faux Trump voice says. “This country is nothing without the immigrants.”
This, along with other factors, led to an avalanche of backlash on social media. 
Conservative activist Robby Starbuck noted how most of Bad Bunny’s songs aren’t even in English. “This is not a pick designed to unite football fans or let people just enjoy the show. It was a pick designed to divide fans, and no doubt Bad Bunny will find some way to push a woke message,” he shared on X.

Three strikes and you&#8217;re out! Maybe not so fast anymore after Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that it will roll out a new rule allowing players to appeal to robot umpires to overturn pitches they think were incorrectly called by human umpires.
The new rule will take effect for the entire 2026 MLB season and will give each team two opportunities to challenge whether a pitch was correctly ruled a strike or ball. The pitch will then be assessed through a complex automated camera system to judge whether the human umpire was correct.

BREAKING: Major League Baseball will use the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System (ABS) during the entire 2026 season

The rule to bring the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System to the MLB was approved Tuesday by the MLB’s Joint Competition Committee. The system had previously been used in the Minor Leagues, as well as during MLB spring training and the All-Star Game.
The new rules will allow two appeals per game for each team to challenge a pitch call. Challenges must be initiated by a pitcher, batter, or catcher right after the pitch. To challenge, the pitcher will tap his hat or helmet to let the umpire know. According to the MLB, “no help from the dugout or other players on the field is allowed.”
If a game goes into extra innings, each team will get one challenge per inning if it used up its challenges in regulation.
“Throughout this process we have worked on deploying the system in a way that’s acceptable to players. The strong preference from players for the Challenge format over using the technology to call every pitch was a key factor in determining the system we are announcing today,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said.
The MLB said that the system was “powered by T-Mobile 5G network&#8221; and &#8220;uses cameras set up around the perimeter of the field to track the location of each pitch and a graphic on the scoreboard shows the result of the challenge.”
&#8220;We’ve accomplished a lot through our longstanding partnership with MLB, and the rollout of ABS — powered by T-Mobile 5G — is one of our most exciting milestones yet,” said Mike Katz, the president of marketing, strategy and products at T-Mobile. “It’s a powerful example of how we’re using our technology to help MLB innovate, while preserving the character of the game we love.&#8221;

The days following the assassination of Charlie Kirk have been filled with tributes, both public and private, including from major corporations and celebrities. 
Ahead of Sunday’s NFL games, a league spokesperson said it would be left to individual teams to decide whether to acknowledge Charlie Kirk’s tragic death. Some clubs chose to do so, while others did not.
The Tennessee Titans displayed a photo of Kirk and his family on the Jumbotron while observing a moment of silence before the game.
The Miami Dolphins also held a moment of silence for Kirk, the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and “any other victims of violence.” They also offered a “prayer for unity in our country.”
The New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys honored Kirk’s memory, while the New Orleans Saints held a moment of silence.

The Kansas City Chiefs made an announcement at Arrowhead Stadium before their game Sunday night. It said, “Our nation has witnessed several acts of senseless violence in recent weeks, including the deaths of schoolchildren in Colorado, churchgoers in Minnesota, and Charlie Kirk in Utah.”
“At this time, we ask you to join us in a moment of silence as we remember those we have lost.”
The Pittsburgh Steelers did not hold an audible tribute but marked the occasion with a pregame flyover and flags at half-staff.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings chose not to hold any tributes for Kirk.
The Colts explained that the team instead held a moment of silence for Forrest Lucas, founder of Lucas Oil, the namesake of their stadium. They noted this tribute had been scheduled since his death last month. 
Prior to the weekend, the Green Bay Packers held a moment of silence before their Thursday night game against the Washington Commanders on September 11, one day after Kirk’s assassination.

“There have been a variety of moments of silence and tributes in-stadium and on-air in all games or a game immediately following events that rise to a national level. Clubs also often hold moments following a tragic event that affects their community.”
Outside of football, other professional sports teams also paid tribute, including Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen, who wrote “Charlie Kirk” on the side of his hat between two crosses. The New York Yankees also observed a moment of silence before their game on Wednesday. 
A memorial for Kirk <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/charlie-kirk-memorial-to-be-held-next-sunday-in-massive-nfl-stadium">will be held</a> next Sunday, September 21, at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, in Glendale. The venue seats 63,000 people.

Photos have been circulating online of L.A. Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen honoring conservative Charlie Kirk at last night&#8217;s game against the San Francisco Giants.
Treinen wrote the name &#8220;Charlie Kirk,&#8221; sandwiched between two crosses, on the side of his hat.

Kirk, 31, was assassinated while answering questions at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Kirk had massive influence with young conservatives, founding Turning Point USA at just 18 years old. The conservative was known just as well for speaking openly about his faith in God as he was for talking politics.
As highlighted by The Daily Wire, Kirk was asked before his death about how he wanted to be remembered. Unsurprisingly, he pointed to his faith in Jesus Christ.
“How do you wanna be remembered? … [If] everything just goes away [and] you could be associated with one thing, how would you want to be remembered?” Kirk was asked.
“I want to be remembered for courage for my faith,” Kirk responded. “That would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith in my life.”

Treinen, too, has been outspoken about his Christian faith. When the Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, for example, the pitcher <a href="https://churchleaders.com/news/500008-god-is-absolutely-god-says-pitcher-blake-treinen-after-dodgers-win-world-series.html">said</a>, &#8220;God is absolutely good.&#8221;
&#8220;I gotta give a shout out to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this moment, man. It’s a lot of hard work, what I’ve gone through,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;This moment is such a blessing.”
Taking on questions from the press, Treinen said it was &#8220;God&#8221; on his mind after the final game. &#8220;Everything I’ve been through, it’s just so good to be here and have this platform,&#8221; he said.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was ejected early in the season opener Thursday night after he was caught spitting on Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
The incident occurred following the opening kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. As some staff tended to an injured player, Carter was seen going helmet to helmet with Prescott. 
Carter was immediately hit with a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and ejected from the game. An Eagles staffer escorted him off the field, with cameras following and announcers expressing their shock.

Footage later emerged showing Prescott spitting towards Carter first, which is why he claimed he retaliated. But the quarterback insists he was just spitting forward and not aiming at anyone.
“I was just looking at him and I was right here in between two linemen,” Prescott said of the incident. “I guess I needed to spit, and I wasn’t going to spit on my linemen, so I just spit ahead.”
“He asked or goes, ‘Are you trying to spit on me?’ At that point, I felt like he was insulting me,” the Cowboys quarterback continued. “I wouldn’t spit on somebody, and I’m damn sure not trying to spit on you, we’re trying to play a game… He just spit on me in that moment, and it was more of a surprise than anything. The refs obviously saw it and threw a flag. I was like, ‘Hell yeah, we get 15 yards to start the game off,’ I didn’t realize he was getting ejected. Unfortunate that he did and hell of a player.”
Carter issued an apology after the game. 
“You know it was a mistake that happened on my side, and it just won’t happen again,” Carter <a href="https://www.nfl.com/news/eagles-dt-jalen-carter-ejected-before-playing-snap-after-spitting-on-cowboys-qb-dak-prescott-in-season-opener">told reporters</a> after the game. “I feel bad for just my teammates and the fans out there. You know, I’m doing it for them. I’m doing it for my family also but the fans, they show the most love. You heard them out there and not being able to start the game to finish the game just f*** me up, but it won’t happen again.”
Despite losing one of their best defensive players, the Eagles managed to eke out a win for week one, besting the Cowboys with a final score of 24-20.

After a video of him snatching a hat from a child at the U.S. Open went viral and ignited widespread outrage, Polish businessman Piotr Szczerek publicly apologized for his actions.
Szczerek, head of the paving company Drogbruk, shared his regrets on the company’s official Instagram page and stated that all other comments attributed to him and his wife were fake. The exec explained that he didn’t mean to take the hat from the little boy, saying he thought it was meant for him.
The footage captures tennis star Kamil Majchrzak holding out the hat toward the child until Szczerek abruptly intercepted, grabbed the hat, and tucked it into his wife’s tote bag. In the video, he appears to ignore the child’s protestations.

“I would like to unequivocally apologize to the boy who was harmed, his family, as well as all the fans and the player himself,” Szczerek <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DODrR8ZCMsI/?hl=en">wrote on Instagram</a>, via a translation. “I made a serious mistake.”
“In the emotions, in the crowd’s joy after the victory, I was convinced that the tennis player was handing the cap in my direction — for my sons, who had earlier asked for autographs,” the CEO went on. 
“Today, I know that I did something that looked like deliberately taking a souvenir from a child. That was never my intention, but it doesn’t change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans. The cap has since been given to the boy, and apologies made to the family. I hope that at least in part I have repaired the harm I caused,” he added. 
“It is a painful but necessary lesson in humility,” Szczerek wrote.
Since the incident, Majchrzak located the boy, who was identified as Brock, and posed for photos with him. “Hello World, Together with Brock we wish you a great day!” the tennis pro wrote in an Instagram caption shared on Saturday.
He showed a photo of himself giving more gifts to Brock in another Story. 
Szczerek has been targeted online since the incident, with angry individuals bombarding his company with negative reviews and publicly criticizing him for his actions.
