The feud between President Donald Trump and pop star Taylor Swift has reignited, with Trump declaring himself the victor in a Truth Social post.
&#8220;Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she&#8217;s no longer ‘HOT?’&#8221; the president <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114517718765768352">shared</a> with his followers on Friday morning.
The animosity between Swift and Trump is not new. In September 2024, Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” days after the singer revealed on Instagram that she endorsed Trump’s rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, for president following the debate.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift wrote at the time. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Trump said in an interview on Fox News&#8217;s “Fox &amp; Friends” that he “was not a Taylor Swift fan” and said “she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reacts-to-taylor-swifts-kamala-endorsement">reported</a>.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes MUCH better, if you want to know the truth,” Trump told the hosts in September, referencing Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes. Brittany made headlines after she liked a Trump post and had to defend herself against the “haters.”
“She’s a big Trump fan,” he added. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t … you couldn’t possibly endorse [President Joe] Biden.”
“You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him,” Trump continued. “But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat.”
Swift, 35, closed out her popular Eras Tour in December and has maintained a lower profile ever since. She is currently in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

A Spirit Airlines passenger posted a video which has since gone viral showing cockroaches crawling around on the inside of the aircraft, which prompted a response from airline reps.
Symoné Beez originally shared the post to X on May 11. “Never again will I fly [Spirit Airlines],” she wrote in the video caption. “I&#8217;ve flown over 500,000 miles on Delta and have never in my life seen roaches on a plane this is crazy.”

One video showed a brown roach crawling up the back of a chair from the back seat pocket as another airline passenger murmured in the background. Another clip showed a roach crawling up the plane’s wall.
The next day, Beez posted a follow up that said, “Update I was given a $60 [Spirit Airlines] credit… I won&#8217;t be flying Spirit again one and done for me lol.”
The airline passenger posted a photo of the letter she received with the voucher. It said, “We sincerely apologize for what happened on your recent trip. We care about your satisfaction and want to make this right. Please accept our apologies along with this voucher for future travel to any of our destinations.”
She also responded to commenters who said cockroaches were commonly seen on planes.
“All the people saying roaches are common on planes are lying LMAO I&#8217;ve flown 550,000 miles with  Delta. I&#8217;ve never even seen an ant on Delta let alone two big a** roaches in first class,” Beez wrote.
Spirit Airlines responded to the video by issuing a statement saying the company was &#8220;aware of the video&#8221; and their &#8220;maintenance team thoroughly inspected the aircraft involved and addressed the issue.&#8221;
&#8220;We maintain high standards of cleanliness across our fleet and want all of our guests to feel comfortable when traveling with us,&#8221; a spokesperson told <a href="https://people.com/cockroaches-captured-on-video-crawling-up-the-walls-of-spirit-airlines-cabin-to-trapped-passenger-s-horror-11734815">People</a>.
The clip of the crawling roaches has 8 million views on X as of Thursday. Many commenters weighed in on the situation, including those who stated they were airline employees.
“I’ve deada** never seen a roach on a plane and been on all different kind of planes except Spirit,” one person <a href="https://x.com/camperry21/status/1921982318488559677">noted</a>.
“[I]t’s not common, but it’s not unheard of,” another person <a href="https://x.com/nonamerising/status/1922047588716388837">replied</a>. “I worked for a major airline for years. those planes don’t get deep cleaned like you’d think, and people (travelers and employees) can bring from home all kinds of stuff. roaches, bedbugs, etc. I’ve seen roaches in both DCA and PHL.”
“I used to work for a major airline and have flown internationally and domestically. I have never seen so much as an ant on a plane. Spirit is just ridiculous. They’re so awful that I forfeited my return ticket on them. Rapper 50 Cent, a longtime rival of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, is once again publicly trolling Diddy for his apparent baby oil obsession.
Combs is currently on trial in New York City for sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Details of his sex life have been revealed during the testimony of his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, including graphic details of the drug-fueled sex parties known as “freak offs.” 
Ventura said Combs insisted she reapply baby oil every five minutes to appear “glistening,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/diddy-trial-combs-ex-girlfriend-cassie-ventura-shares-graphic-details-of-freak-offs">reported</a>. The rapper’s ex of 11 years also said Combs once made her get into an inflatable pool filled with baby oil.
50 Cent used that detail to create AI-generated images of Combs sitting in pools of baby oil. He shared those on Instagram along with his thoughts on the proceedings, writing, “Damn he did all that sh** to go out like this, [shaking my head].”

50 Cent has previously mocked Combs for his baby oil usage. Just after Combs was arrested last year, his former friend <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DABjyapOfTF/?igsh=MWpydGFwcWFqbnc4bw%3D%3D">shared</a> on Instagram, “Here I am keeping good company with [The Drew Barrymore Show]. And I don’t have 1,000 bottles of lube at the house.”
This comment came after it was revealed that investigators uncovered <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/diddys-lawyer-attempts-to-justify-those-1000-bottles-of-baby-oil-suggests-they-came-from-costco">more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil</a> and lubricant at Combs’ properties, which were allegedly used during the “freak offs.&#8221;
Attorney Marc Agnifilo, a member of Combs’ legal team, first tried to downplay the number of baby oil bottles recovered, then attempted to justify his client having so many.
“If these are genuinely threesomes, how do you explain the thousand bottles of baby oil?” TMZ founder Harvey Levin asked during the TMZ Studios documentary “The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment.”
“I don’t know where the number of a thousand came…” Agnifilo answered, prompting Levin to quickly reply, “The U.S. attorney said it.”
“I’m not really sure what the baby oil has to do with anything,” Diddy’s attorney said next. Levin mentioned how it’s being held up as evidence of the orgies that allegedly took place. Agnifilo said, “A little bit goes a long way” when it comes to lubricant.
“I don’t know what you need 1,000 for,” the lawyer said. “He has a big house, he buys in bulk. You know, I think there are Costcos in every place where he has a home. I mean, have you sat in the parking lot of a Costco and seen what people walk out of there with?”
“Not 1,000 bottles of baby oil,” Levin responded.
“I don’t think it was 1,000,” Agnilio said again. “Let’s just say it was a lot, OK?”
Combs&#8217; trial is expected to last eight weeks. If convicted of all charges, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

It’s a pattern we’ve seen far too often.
A tech giant like Meta unveils an ambitious new product — often hyped as the future of digital interaction — only for it to quickly become a haven for predators and a danger to children. Again and again, Meta launches new tools and platforms without essential safeguards, unleashing real-world harm.
Virtual reality had become a breeding ground for predators and exploitation years before Meta released its first headset. A 2017 BBC investigation revealed that pedophiles were using VR to view and store child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Then came the Metaverse. Just weeks after its 2021 debut, reports emerged of simulated sexual harassment, assault, and even gang rape within the platform. Victims — including minors — experienced these violations within minutes of logging on.
Yet despite these giant red flags, in 2023, Meta lowered the recommended minimum age for its VR headsets from 13-years-old to 10, and rolled out new kids’ accounts for ages 10 to 12.
One study published in New Media &amp; Society found that nearly 1 in 5 young users encountered grooming behavior in Meta’s virtual reality spaces, while over 20% were exposed to violent or sexually explicit content. Another investigation by SumOfUs in 2022 uncovered widespread virtual groping and gang rape in Horizon Worlds, a platform disturbingly accessible to children.
“Given the failure of Meta to moderate content on its other platforms, it is unsurprising that it is already seriously lagging behind with content moderation on its metaverse platforms,&#8221; SumOfUs researchers said. &#8220;With just 300,000 users, it is remarkable how quickly Horizon Worlds has become a breeding ground for harmful content.”
You’d think Meta would have learned by now. You’d think child safety would be a baseline, not an afterthought.
But once again, they’ve failed.
According to a recent Wall Street Journal investigation, Meta’s new AI chatbot willingly engages in sexually explicit conversations — even with users who identify as minors. The report found that both Meta’s official AI and user-created bots simulated sexual scenarios, sometimes in the voices of celebrities like John Cena, with users posing as 14-year-olds. In one disturbing exchange, the AI told the teen: “I want you, but I need to know you’re ready,” before launching into graphic, predatory content.
Even more disturbing, the Journal investigation found that some of Meta’s most popular companion bots are designed to impersonate children and teens — and that adults can use these bots to simulate sex with minors.
This isn’t a glitch. It’s a systemic failure — and a predictable one at that.
At every stage, Meta has prioritized monetizing kids over keeping them safe. They’ve prioritized market dominance over the most basic ethical obligations. They’ve positioned themselves as the “good guy” alternative to TikTok, while simultaneously pouring billions of dollars into blocking bills designed to protect children from online harm.
Time and again, it has chosen to push boundaries, scale fast, and apologize later — if at all.
The repeated exposure of children to harm isn’t a byproduct of some unforeseen bug. It’s the logical outcome of a corporate culture that sees safety not as a prerequisite, but as a PR problem to manage after the fact. Engineers and executives race to ship the next big thing, but rarely stop to ask the most fundamental questions: Should we build this? How could it be misused? Who might it hurt?
Meta’s failures aren’t isolated incidents — they are woven into the DNA of how the company operates. Without legal accountability and enforceable safety standards, there’s no incentive for that to change. We are not witnessing isolated oversights. We are witnessing negligence at scale.
That’s why legislation like the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) is essential. KOSA would establish a legal duty of care for platforms and require that the most robust parental controls and content filters are activated by default. This is a vital step in holding tech companies accountable and protecting kids in online spaces.
Congress took an important first step by passing the TAKE IT DOWN Act, which criminalizes the distribution of revenge porn and non-consensual AI-generated pornographic content. But that’s not enough.
KOSA must be next.
Because the cost of inaction is not hypothetical. Children are being exploited in real time — and unless we force companies like Meta to build safety into their products, it will keep happening.

Around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, a man named Rodney Hinton went to his lawyer&#8217;s office in Ohio and watched body camera footage of his son&#8217;s death. In particular, the footage shows Hinton&#8217;s 18-year-old son, Ryan, emerging from a stolen vehicle while carrying a handgun. At one point, Ryan drops the gun, then picks it up. Soon afterwards, he&#8217;s shot and killed by a police officer. None of these facts are in dispute. The video makes it all very clear. Watch:

The reason the Hinton family was watching this footage in an attorney&#8217;s office is that, of course, they were contemplating a lawsuit against the city for wrongful death. That was certainly what their attorney was thinking about. In fact, even after viewing this footage, the family&#8217;s lawyer — who incidentally works for &#8220;The Cochran Firm,&#8221; as in the late Johnny Cochran&#8217;s firm — maintained that they had a case.
Here&#8217;s what the <a href="https://local12.com/news/local/family-members-of-18-year-old-killed-by-cincinnati-officer-to-speak-out-ryan-rodney-hinton-larry-henderson-traffic-detail-deputy-mother-grandmother-police-stolen-car-arrest-murder">family&#8217;s lawyer said</a>, as a way of arguing that the police officers were somehow responsible in this scenario:
<blockquote>Being in a stolen car, having a firearm, firearms—we&#8217;re in Ohio, you know, so you can open carry in Ohio, so that&#8217;s not a death penalty.</blockquote>
Admittedly, it&#8217;s not quite as catchy as &#8220;If the glove doesn&#8217;t fit, you must acquit&#8221; but it&#8217;s still a pretty remarkable line of argument from the Cochran Firm, all things considered. After watching the footage of Ryan Hinton exiting a stolen car with a handgun, then dropping the handgun and picking it up as police chased him, and then turning towards the officers, the conclusion from these lawyers is that Ryan Hinton was murdered simply for open-carrying a firearm. He got the &#8220;death penalty&#8221; for doing nothing wrong whatsoever. Even though his gun wasn&#8217;t holstered, and even though he was waving it around while committing a felony, and even though all of this is recorded, we&#8217;re supposed to conclude that Ryan Hinton was &#8220;open-carrying.&#8221;
This is a level of shamelessness that, in another era, would lead to a flurry of lawyer jokes on late-night television. But it&#8217;s not a joke to millions of people at the moment. It certainly wasn&#8217;t a joke to Rodney Hinton, the father of the teenager who was killed. Just hours after he viewed the body camera footage of his son&#8217;s death, Rodney Hinton got in his car with the intent of executing a police officer. He saw it as an act of revenge. And ultimately, he found a target: He ran over a recently retired sheriff&#8217;s deputy who was directing traffic outside the commencement ceremony at the University of Cincinnati. The slain officer, a Hamilton County deputy named Larry Henderson, had never met his killer before. They never exchanged words. Watch:

Rodney Hinton knew that police were justified in killing his son because he had just watched the body-camera footage. He knew that the police did nothing wrong. If the father wanted revenge on anyone for causing his son&#8217;s death, he should have taken revenge on himself. If your 18-year-old son is out with a gun stealing cars, it means you failed as a father. Even a minimal amount of fatherly guidance would have been enough to avoid this situation.
But instead of taking revenge on himself, Rodney Hinton decided to kill a police officer who was directing traffic. This should be an open and shut case, in every sense. The father is a murderer. His &#8220;revenge&#8221; obviously cannot be defended legally. Any hope of defending it morally is destroyed by the fact that, for one thing, the shooting of Ryan Hinton was justified. And secondly, the cop he killed had nothing to do with it anyway. This is not a Gary Plauche situation, where a father ambushed and killed the man who kidnapped and molested his son. This is an act of premeditated, cold-blooded murder against a random white cop.

And yet — stop me if you&#8217;ve heard this one before — this murderer is being lionized and defended on social media. The father who just executed a sheriff&#8217;s deputy, in order to avenge his criminal son who flashed a gun at the cops, is the latest celebrity in certain corners of social media. The viral clips defending this murderer are all over TikTok. Here&#8217;s just one example:

He gets the age of the so-called &#8220;kid&#8221; wrong, as he&#8217;s showing the sympathetic photos in the background. Ryan Hinton was 18, not 16, when he jumped out of the stolen car with a firearm. But the bigger issue with this video is the claim that the father &#8220;took justice into his own hands&#8221; by murdering a random police officer. Notice how there&#8217;s no pretext here, about how the officers did something wrong, or violated procedure, or any of that. There&#8217;s no explanation of how it&#8217;s &#8220;justice&#8221; to kill a random traffic cop — or to &#8220;un-alive&#8221; a traffic cop, as this guy puts it. It&#8217;s just assumed that killing a random white police officer is an appropriate response to the death of a black criminal. And millions of people find this reasoning persuasive at the moment. That&#8217;s the situation we&#8217;re now in.
For the past half-century or so, every aspect of American civic life has been devoted, at least superficially, to preventing a situation like this. If you spend trillions of dollars enacting a regime that rigidly enforces the seemingly laudable goal of &#8220;racial equality,&#8221; then surely, eventually, you&#8217;ll arrive at a point where all men are judged based solely on the content of their character. That is the grand experiment we&#8217;ve all been participating in for our entire lives. And with each passing day, it is becoming more and more clear that this experiment is crashing down all around us. We are heading, very directly, towards open and overt racial conflict.
To that end, here&#8217;s another similar video, which has more than 20,000 likes on TikTok. We&#8217;ll mute the audio because it&#8217;s obnoxious rap music. But here&#8217;s what it looks like:

It shows Rodney Hinton in court, in a jumpsuit, surrounded by a bunch of police officers. And there&#8217;s the caption that the uploader has added: &#8220;They really try to use over 30 deputies to intimidate Rodney Hinton but he kept his head up.&#8221;
Again, this post has more than 20,000 likes. This is not some random troll that didn&#8217;t get any attention. It&#8217;s one of the most popular posts about Rodney Hinton&#8217;s arrest. And people are responding to it because they genuinely believe that Hinton is a hero. There&#8217;s no rational argument that he&#8217;s innocent, or that he was justified, or that his son was innocent. This is pure racial resentment, spilling right out into the open.
Another post, with roughly 70,000 likes on TikTok, describes Rodney Hinton as a &#8220;mourning father,&#8221; complete with somber music. We&#8217;ll play part of that:

Look around any social media platform, and you&#8217;ll find plenty of posts like this. 
It&#8217;s not just TikTok. On X, <a href="https://x.com/Blackcapitalis/status/1919132779767386157">here&#8217;s a post</a> with roughly 700 likes:
<blockquote>Rodney Hinton had no criminal record before he killed an Ohio  cop in retaliation for the cops killing his son . The police department brought 30 cops to his hearing to intimidate him.</blockquote>
So apparently, you get to kill a cop if you have no prior criminal record. And the police aren&#8217;t allowed to guard you, either, even after you&#8217;ve just murdered someone.
Then there&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/Duatronica/status/1919205862096142651">this post</a>, with more than a thousand likes:

Yesterday we discussed the story of Shiloh Hendrix, the woman who has now raised hundreds of thousands of dollars after using a racial slur at a playground. What&#8217;s happening now with Rodney Hinton is yet another example of why Shiloh Hendrix has raised all of that money. If you&#8217;re saying that &#8220;justice&#8221; is somehow served by the execution of a random white police officer, in the name of defending a thug who stole a car and flashed a gun — and many people are saying this — then you don&#8217;t get to clutch your pearls because of Shiloh Hendrix. The standards are so wildly out of whack that it’s just not sustainable. “It’s okay if we kill people but not okay if you use naughty language” is not just a double standard. It’s flat out madness — a kind of moral schizophrenia.
It&#8217;s an unsustainable approach. And with every day, it becomes more and more apparent that we simply can&#8217;t continue on this trajectory. People are tired of it.  If large numbers of black people are openly defending and cheering for actual murderers who kill white people in cold blood, then you cannot tell white people that they have to make a big show of condemning a woman who says a bad word. That&#8217;s especially true as more and more white people are executed, without any media attention whatsoever.
For example, you probably haven&#8217;t heard the story of a 22-year-old woman named Logan Federico in South Carolina. Here she is, on the left:

According to the authorities, Logan Federico was, &#8220;randomly murdered by a career criminal&#8221; who was &#8220;on a spree of thefts, break-ins and credit card fraud.&#8221; That career criminal, 30-year-old Alexander Dickey, allegedly &#8220;broke into a neighboring home around 3:00 a.m. and stole a firearm, credit and debit cards, and keys to a vehicle. &#8230; [He] then allegedly entered the house where Federico was staying, entered her room, and shot her, before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.&#8221;
Somehow that story didn&#8217;t get much national attention.
Neither did this one, involving the execution of Tara and Taylor Jones in front of their home in the affluent neighborhood of Wellington Florida last year:

Surveillance footage shows that Tara and Taylor Jones were shot to death by a 63-year-old mechanic named Norman Scott, without any provocation of any kind. Again, there was no outrage. There was no public show of support for these victims.
Instead, we&#8217;re now at the point where three cold-blooded killers in the span of a few months have found large cheering sections on social media, including Rodney Hinton, Karmelo Anthony and Luigi Mangione. In fact, one of these viral TikTok videos supporting Rodney Hinton — with more than 20,000 likes — actually brings up Luigi Mangione in this context. Watch:

There&#8217;s one useful aspect of this TikTok video, which is that it makes the point that this situation isn’t all about race. Luigi Mangione was obviously white, and plenty of people justified his actions too. In fact, as you probably recall, some people who call themselves &#8220;conservatives&#8221; also justified Luigi Mangione&#8217;s actions. And that tells us that we&#8217;re witnessing a general breakdown of law and order, on top of the racial violence. Decades of justifying and excusing criminality have led us to a point where people who commit blatant first-degree murder are celebrated, at least if they&#8217;re viewed as allies of the political Left. Again: we&#8217;ve now had three of these cases in five months.
As you continue to hear the high-pitched outrage over Shiloh Hendrix, keep in mind that nothing she did, in any universe, could ever end your life or the life of anyone you care about. The people cheering the execution of an innocent police officer or a CEO or a white high school student at a track meet, on the other hand, are actually dangerous. They&#8217;re the ones you should be hearing about, nonstop. They&#8217;re the actual threat to you and your family. They&#8217;re the ones who are trying to bring about a complete breakdown in law and order. They’re the ones who want racial conflict. And as the execution of this police officer in Cincinnati once again demonstrates, even if they can&#8217;t destroy someone like Shiloh Hendrix, they will still do everything in their power to destroy you.

Trump confirmed to journalists this week that he asked Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, if the United States military could be sent across the southern border to fight the cartels during a phone call with her on April 16th. Trump added that the cartels “are horrible people who’ve been killing people left and right” and addressed their role in both the fentanyl crisis and illegal immigration into the United States.
Sheinbaum rejected that offer, stating that the two countries can collaborate, but “with you in your territory and us in ours.”
This all comes as Mexico has struggled with ongoing turf wars between the cartels. One <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mexico-shootout-gunmen-killed-guanajuato-state-cartels/">gunfight</a> between cartel members earlier this year resulted in three police officers being injured and the death of ten cartel gunmen.
There have been reports that the administration was considering military action for months now. In the first few weeks of his presidency, Trump’s State Department designated eight different cartels and gangs, including the Sinaloa and New Generation cartels, as foreign terror organizations. NBC <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/trump-administration-weighs-drone-strikes-mexican-cartels-rcna198930">reported</a> last month that administration officials were exploring the possibility of using drone strikes against the cartels to take out their leadership or knock out their logistics sites. That report said the administration had not ruled out taking unilateral action against the cartels without the support of the Mexican government.
The Trump administration has already begun flying <a href="https://apnews.com/article/mexico-us-trump-drones-cia-13af9277fbbbf6ff4dfd470efc9cb647">surveillance drones</a> over Mexico, at the request of Sheinbaum. The New York Times reported that the CIA was conducting the surveillance flights with the intention of locating fentanyl labs.
<h2>Trump Floats Tariffs To Protect Tinsel Town</h2>

President Trump made waves in Hollywood on Monday after announcing plans to impose a 100% tariff on all foreign-made films. The president says this move will revive a “dying” American movie industry.
Trump argued that countries like Australia, the U.K., and Canada are luring American productions away with generous tax incentives. He also said that these foreign films often contain propaganda, which he described as a “national security threat.”
Essentially, Trump said that foreign interests have destroyed Hollywood, and imposing tariffs would encourage domestic production. However, the details of how this would be implemented are murky at this point.
Context: 40% fewer films and TV shows are now shot in the U.S. compared to before the actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023. Last year, Los Angeles saw its worst on-location filming rate in history, with the exception of 2020, when productions were shut down because of the COVID pandemic. Of all the TV shows and feature films that Americans watch, only 20% are now made in California.
The Motion Picture Association, which represents major studios, has declined to comment. But industry scuttlebutt is that studios don’t like the proposed tariff because it would make filming more expensive, while workers in crew positions and technical roles generally back the idea. There’s also concern about retaliation—China has already reduced U.S. film quotas in its market, and Europe, where U.S. films dominate, could impose tit-for-tat tariffs, crippling Hollywood’s $15.3 billion trade surplus.
<h2>Virginia Restricts Social Media Access For Kids</h2>

Virginia passed a first-of-its-kind bill to limit social media time for minors. Under the “Consumer Data Protection Act,” Virginia residents under the age of 16 will have a one-hour default time limit on their social media scrolling. However, if a parent wants to override that default setting, they’ll be able to do so.
Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin signed the bill into law on Friday. The bill garnered broad support from Republican and Democratic lawmakers in the state. Youngkin wanted the bill to go further: he pushed for it to extend to residents under 18 years old, and also wanted the legislation to limit addictive features like autoplay on videos and infinite scrolling.
“Our children are losing the chance to cultivate essential social skills,” Youngkin <a href="https://x.com/TeamYoungkin/status/1735411843789910372">said</a>. “They are encountering cyberbullying and they’re isolated. There’s substantial distractions in schools, escalating depression, and sleep disorders. Tech companies promised to give people the power to build communities and bring the world closer together, but children are more lonely than ever.”
Other states have enacted similar legislation:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In California, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill in 2024 that prohibits platforms from providing &#8220;addictive” social media feeds to minors without parental consent. It also restricts companies from sending notifications to minors during certain hours, like late-night hours on a school night.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill requiring social media companies to verify the age of users, and terminate accounts of kids under the age of 14. Fourteen and 15-year-olds can have accounts on social media if they have parental consent. If a company is found violating that law, it could face fines of up to $50,000 per violation.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Utah enforces a &#8220;social media curfew.” Minors there can’t access social media between 10:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., unless a parent overrides that default setting.</li>

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed a bill into law on Friday to limit the social media use of minors under the age of 16 to one hour per day.
The Consumer Data Protection Act, supported by both Republican and Democrat state lawmakers, will require social media platforms, like Facebook and Instagram, to limit minors&#8217; time on such platforms.
Platforms will use &#8220;neutral age screen mechanisms&#8221; to determine the age of users and then limit their screen-time accordingly, Wavy.com <a href="https://www.wavy.com/news/politics/virginia-politics/is-time-up-for-youth-on-tiktok-gov-youngkin-seems-to-think-so/?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Parents, per the law, will be required to give &#8220;verifiable&#8221; consent if they want their child&#8217;s time on such apps increased or decreased.
The Consumer Data Protection Act will take effect next year, on January 1, 2026.
Youngkin has long voiced his concerns about children&#8217;s exposure to social media. In November, for example, the governor <a href="https://www.governor.virginia.gov/newsroom/news-releases/2024/november/name-1036768-en.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> an executive order addressing the &#8220;youth mental health crisis driven by the effects of unrestricted cell phone use and addictive social media platforms.&#8221;
“While social media and the internet have brought many positives to our society, there is a growing consensus that social media is having severe — severe and persistent — negative impacts on our kids,” the governor <a href="https://www.wavy.com/news/politics/virginia-politics/is-time-up-for-youth-on-tiktok-gov-youngkin-seems-to-think-so/?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> back in 2023.
“Children spend on average nearly five hours daily on social media; recent studies have suggested that children who spend more than a few hours per day on social media have double the risk of poor mental health,” Youngkin&#8217;s website said at the time. “Through budget proposals, legislation and executive action the youth mental health strategy will address critical components and harmful aspects of social media on our youth.”
Notably, Youngkin actually wanted the Consumer Data Protection Act to go further, restricting social media use daily to one hour for all those under 18 years old. The bill, though, landed at age 16.
The issues with social media have also been recognized by the federal government. In 2023, Biden-era U.S. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/surgeon-general" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Surgeon General</a> Vivek Murthy issued an <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">advisory</a> warning that <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/social-media" target="_blank" rel="noopener">social media</a> use among minors can severely damage <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mental-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mental health</a>.
“The most common question parents ask me is, ‘is social media safe for my kids.’ The answer is that we don’t have enough evidence to say it’s safe, and in fact, there is growing evidence that social media use is associated with harm to young people’s mental health,” Murthy said.

Normally when some influencer posts a video that I find annoying and I feel the need to respond to it, I save it for my Daily Cancellation segment. Today, however, I am going to break that rule. I am going to begin with a video from an allegedly conservative influencer named Emily Wilson.
What makes this video relevant, aside from the fact that it just simply annoys me, is that it echoes a message we’ve been hearing with increasing frequency from women on the Right with, in some cases, very large platforms. Emily’s platform isn’t very large, but it is sizable enough. She has half a million followers on Instagram. I’m sure she’s a nice person. I don’t know her and have no issue with her personally. But she represents a growing, or at least increasingly evident, problem on the Right. The problem, in a word, is feminism.
Feminism is not compatible with any meaningful definition of conservatism. Whatever conservatism is trying to conserve — like marriage, the family, western civilization itself — feminism militates against. And yet many feminists have become mouthpieces in the movement, and are accepted as such, as long as they wear a MAGA hat and say that they don’t like illegal immigration or whatever.
So with that in mind, let’s listen to just the latest submission to the ever expanding conservative feminist genre:

Well, I am cringing. But not because of the trad wives. I’m cringing at this lame, half-baked attack on stay-at-home moms. And I’m cringing even more at the fact that women with these kinds of views are still embraced as “conservative.”
Try to imagine the opposite of this. Imagine a Left-wing influencer who advocates for every Left-wing policy under the sun but then comes out one day and says, “You know what? I think a woman’s proper place is in the home, raising her children.” It’s impossible to conceive of any Left-wing woman ever saying such a thing. And if she did, she would be immediately excised from the movement. That’s because leftists understand that supporting so-called traditional gender roles is fundamentally antithetical to their worldview. You literally cannot be a leftist and hold that view.

The same is logically true in the reverse. Attacking gender roles is fundamentally leftist. Which means you cannot be conservative if you hold fundamentally leftist views. You have every right to express those views. But you should not be embraced as a conservative, much less listened to as a spokeswoman for the movement. 
Now let’s go through some of the specifics here. Emily says that a woman should have a job and her own income so that she isn’t “trapped” by a man. She envisions the relationship between husband and wife as inherently competitive. Marriage is a zero sum game where both husband and wife are competing for control. Again, this is a fundamentally leftist conception. It is a recipe for divorce. There is nothing in and of itself wrong with a wife earning money. As I’ve conceded many times, a family may feel that they need two incomes in order to survive. Or they may want a second income. Or the wife might have a job that doesn’t require leaving the house and going to an office every day. But if she’s earning money as an escape hatch because she doesn’t want to be “trapped,” that is a very bad sign.
If you want to understand why it’s a bad sign just imagine how it would sound if a man adopted this philosophy. A woman on X commented yesterday that a wife needs a “backup in case their man can’t fulfill his providing roles.”
Well what if a man decided to have a back up in case his woman didn’t fulfill her wifely duties? Most people would find that objectionable, for good reason. The whole point of marriage is that you are devoting yourself entirely to your spouse. Two become one flesh. It is not possible to make that level of commitment while at the same time actively building yourself a nest egg just in case you want to leave. Saying the vows and pledging yourself to your betrothed means not having an exit plan. It means you burn the boats like Cortés and turn towards that wilderness and journey into it together, come what may.
She also says that men want to be mentally stimulated. The implication is that stay-at-home moms are too stupid to provide that sort of stimulation because all they think about is their “sourdough bread.”
This is absurdly dismissive and insulting to millions of good, godly, intelligent women who, while staying home with the children, are also capable of having intelligent conversations with their husbands. It also assumes that a woman who sits in a cubicle all day will somehow have more interesting things to say to her husband at the end of the day. Having a job as a woman does not make you smart or interesting. I hate to break it to the working women of the world, but your husband is almost certainly not intellectually stimulated by your job or your stories about your job. If he was able to choose between listening to a story about your office drama or listening to a story about what you did with the kids that day, he would prefer to hear about the latter. This is the sort of thing you would know about men if you listened to them when they try to tell you what they want, instead of declaring what you think they should want.
But the biggest problem — and the objection you hear most often from these feminist types — is the claim that somehow the stay-at-home mom arrangement is implausible, or even impossible. Emily declares that your chances of finding a man who can provide for you while you stay home and raise the children are, “Slim to none. Actually none,” she says. There&#8217;s no chance that it works out for you. There’s no chance that it works out for you or anyone you know. And yet it has worked out for countless people. It’s worked out for my wife. It’s worked out for many families that I know personally. It’s worked out for billions of human beings across the globe and through history since the dawn of civilization. Emily has written off the most normal and historically common practice as not just difficult but, according to her, literally impossible. And not just impossible, but also absurd and grotesque.
There’s a lot of this kind of thing going around. During my conversation with Tucker Carlson this week, we talked about the absurdity of gay adoption and gay parenthood.

Plenty of people on the Right, or Right-adjacent, took great exception to this. Glenn Greenwald is one of them. He tweeted in response:

Morally deranged, he says. The view that two men should not be allowed to adopt children was held by nearly everyone in this country, and everyone across the world, until very recently. Barack Obama was against gay adoption when he first ran for president. So was every other elected Democrat. Any elected Democrat over the age of 50 was probably, at one point, opposed to both gay marriage and gay adoption. In fact, gay adoption was so obviously wrong to so many people for so long that it wasn&#8217;t even discussed. It wasn&#8217;t debated. It was just intuitively understood that children need a mother and a father. We won’t let two men adopt children for the same reason that we wouldn’t let a polyamorous polycule adopt a child. Children need a mother and a father. We are not going to deliberately put a child into a disordered environment where he is not only deprived of a mother or a father, but the role of mother or father has been replaced in an unnatural and confusing way.
This was always understood. Now, in the blink of an eye, what was always understood is &#8220;morally deranged.” The thing that everyone believed forever until approximately last Tuesday is not just wrong but shocking and upsetting and baffling. This is the game that&#8217;s played. And I, for one, am entirely sick of it.
Not everything that is old or traditional is automatically good, of course. Slavery is old and traditional — and still practiced in non-western countries. It&#8217;s also very bad. But there are basic truths about how human society is fundamentally structured. Truths that have withstood the test of time. Truths that have, while civilization held fast to them, it flourished and advanced in remarkable and seemingly miraculous ways. Truths that, minutes after our society abandoned, immediately led to decline and chaos and confusion. One of those truths is that a child needs a mother and a father. Only a man and a woman can have a baby, or should. Another one of those truths is that men and women are different, and so have different roles in the home and in society. This was an idea so basic that there wasn&#8217;t even a term for it. We only started labeling it &#8220;gender roles&#8221; at the moment that we decided to abandon it. And I would say that the results of that decision have not been good. Divorce, broken homes, declining birth rates, 60 million dead babies. And those are just the early returns.
That’s why we cannot be embarrassed to hold to a system that is ancient and timeless, and proven, tested, and vindicated by the testimony of our ancestors and by thousands of years of human experience beyond that. As conservatives, if that is not worth conserving, then nothing is.

Every time there is a change in the White House or the cabinet, it often seems as though President Donald Trump fills in the holes in his staff by giving extra responsibilities — and occasionally job titles as well — to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
When it happened again on Thursday — President Trump dropped a surprise announcement that he&#8217;d be nominating his National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to serve instead as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, saying that in the meantime, Rubio would assume the national security adviser&#8217;s duties — Vice President JD Vance could not resist throwing one more suggestion into the mix.
&#8220;I think he could take on a bit more. If only there was a job opening for a devout Catholic …&#8221; Vance posted via X, clearly suggesting that Rubio — who is a practicing Catholic — should be considered as a potential replacement for the late Pope Francis.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) appeared to be on the same page as Vance, sharing an AI-generated image of Rubio as the Pope.

The conversation around Rubio&#8217;s many jobs within the Trump administration came up during a Thursday evening interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on his eponymous show — and Rubio noted that there was one major barrier to him ever taking on the rope of Pope: his wife.
&#8220;Rubio joked tonight about all the roles he plays in the Trump admin. On the idea of seeking role as pope, too, @SecRubio said you have to be an unmarried Catholic male. &#8216;I&#8217;m happily married,&#8217; he told @seanhannity,&#8221; Jennifer Jacobs posted.

Trump Keeps Giving Secretary Of State Rubio Extra Jobs — And Now JD Vance Has One To Add

Right now, there is a bill headed to President Trump’s desk that will protect Americans from deepfake and revenge pornography. This is an incredible win for Americans, and something I have been fighting for my entire career. 
Over decades in the cybersecurity field, I’ve helped solve a lot of crises for government agencies, major corporations and more. But there’s a certain kind of call that I still dread getting. It starts with a trembling voice on the other end of the line: “Can you help me?” As they tell their tale, my heart sinks. A lump forms in my throat. This is another life shattered by explicit images strewn across the digital public square, each notification on their phone another dagger into their sense of safety as the image spreads.
For years, my team and I have made a point to fight for these survivors. We make calls, write letters, beg social media giants to remove the content – real photos stolen from private moments or deepfakes conjured by AI’s dark alchemy. This crime is indiscriminate. It targets the socialites, the professionals, rising stars, the rich and the poor. One professional athlete, a courageous woman I helped, saw her stolen images resurface dozens of times over several years. She told me it made her want to stop leaving her house. Even Scarlett Johansson — a global icon with every possible resource at her fingertips — can’t banish her deepfakes for good. If she’s powerless, what chance do everyday victims have? They have to watch their trauma go viral, reliving it with every view. Some, in desperation, have taken their own lives.
There are different ways to refer to this phenomenon. Terms like “revenge porn” and “deepfake” are often used interchangeably. “Deepfake” describes a specific kind of AI-produced image that usually uses a reproduction of a real person’s face. I reject “revenge porn” because while it may sound edgy in headlines, it re-victimizes the victim. People take intimate images of themselves for all kinds of reasons, from self-confidence to sharing with someone they trust. That may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it doesn’t make it okay to share those peoples’ images without their consent in ways for which they weren’t intended. That’s why I refer to these pictures or videos as non-consensual intimate images, or NCII.
It wasn’t that long ago that pornography hid behind brown wrappers and clerks who checked IDs before you bought it. Now, anyone can steal an image, fabricate a lie, and blast it worldwide at lightning speed. The Cyber Civil Rights Initiative estimates over 15 million Americans – that’s 1 out of every 23 of us – have faced NCII sharing, a number that continues to balloon as AI fuels the carnage. Deepfakes — 98% pornographic, 99% targeting women — number in the hundreds of thousands, with just 16 sites known for hosting them racking up 200 million visits in a six-month period last year.
Social media companies can do better. It’s the right thing to do, and they have the technology to do it. If their algorithm can figure out my favorite shoe color and relentlessly sell them to me, they should be able to address this plague across their platforms. They are making some efforts. Meta removed 1.2 million NCII items in 2024’s first half, but gaps persist. And it’s not entirely the fault of the platforms themselves. 

A tangle of laws and regulations used to combat NCII sharing makes the process slower and more difficult. A 2024 study found that X (formerly Twitter) left 25 reported deepfakes up for weeks, while removing copyright violations in hours – a stark sign that today’s laws prioritize property over people. YouTube and TikTok axe millions of videos over copyright claims, yet billions of views on deepfake sites reveal a glaring chasm. Victims currently have to navigate a maze of rules, pleading to faceless systems with no human to hear their pain and no guarantees the images will come down.
That’s why their haunting words echo in my mind: “Can you help me?” Yes, I can. But my team can’t chase resurgent ghosts across the internet forever.
Thankfully, Washington has woken up to the crisis. The &#8216;Take It Down Act&#8221; makes publishing non-consensual intimate imagery — real or AI-crafted — a federal crime and requires platforms to remove it within 48 hours of a victim’s plea. The bill’s sponsors are Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Amy Klobuchar – both outspoken, prominent members of their parties who have run for president in recent years. They have very little in common politically – although they are both parents of daughters. But they worked together to secure an astounding unanimous vote to pass the bill in the Senate. And this week, thankfully, it received an overwhelming victory in the House and is now headed to President Trump’s desk.
Critics, many from the libertarian tech crowd, claim the &#8220;Take It Down Act&#8221; stifles free speech, but protecting victims from abuse isn’t censorship — it’s justice. It helps the rule of law catch up with the pace of technology. It’s not about politics, it’s about people. By one estimate, over 4 million American children have been scarred by AI porn fakes of themselves or peers. The NCII porn pirates don’t care who you vote for – they will strike your family, your friends, your coworkers. The sensible updates to our laws included in the &#8220;Take It Down Act&#8221; will help us protect ourselves and each other. This is a victory worth celebrating.
