President Donald Trump is stretching the “politics make strange bedfellows” saw to the breaking point.
Celebrity Nation leans aggressively to the Left, and anyone defying that groupthink puts their career at risk. Actor Zachary Levi said it out loud after he praised President Trump last year, calling the move <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/zachary-levi-endorsing-trump-lifeline-career-1236026923/">“career suicide.”</a>
That wasn’t the case in 2009, however, when celebrities flocked to President Barack Obama following his historic 2008 election. They pledged <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/celebrities-pledge-oath-obama/">to do whatever he told them to do</a>.
Different party, of course.
This past week, President Trump had recording artist Nicki Minaj indirectly singing his praises for drawing attention to a humanitarian crisis. The rapper took Trump’s side after the president called out the shocking slaughter of Christians in Nigeria.
Minaj, in connection with the administration, spoke before a UN event about the shocking headlines coming from the African nation.

&#8220;In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted … Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart &#8230; simply because of how they pray.&#8221;
She also <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nicki-minaj-nigeria-christians-trump-be7b03a3f1d4e43747fa26e600be5d3f">thanked the president</a> for leading the way on the matter to “combat extremism and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of religion or belief.”
Trump critics contend that multiple religions have been targeted during the violence spree, and that the nation has sadly been the source of extreme violence for some time.
Minaj’s appearance understandably rocked pop culture, but it wasn’t the first time.
For starters, Trump’s second term features former Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., his Director of National Intelligence and Secretary of Health and Human Services, respectively.
Journalist Megyn Kelly, who Trump once blistered during an early Q&amp;A, stumped for his presidency in the waning days of the 2024 campaign.
It’s Trump’s pop culture connections, though, that raise eyebrows the highest. Think Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Bill Maher, and others who famously linked arms with the president in the past.
It started during the President’s first White House foray. Rapper Kanye West hopped aboard the Trump Train, meeting with the world leader at Trump Tower in 2016 following an extended concert speech praising the real estate mogul.
Two years later, West wore a <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/snl-kanye-west-gave-pro-trump-speech-maga-hat-1148092/">red MAGA</a> hat on “Saturday Night Live” and praised Trump, but the artist’s string of antisemitic rants and emotional meltdowns caused his fame to curdle into its current, sorry state.
West’s former wife, Kim Kardashian, has arguably had a more productive relationship with Trump. The reality show starlet teamed with Trump on prison reform measures. Kardashian, ignoring a celebrity culture that raged against all things Trump, made the trek to the White House to personally push for her pet cause.
The wannabe lawyer and Trump <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-51744918">discussed reform measures</a> aimed at first-time offenders and those she felt were treated unfairly. That public relations coup led to the 2018 release of three young mothers — Crystal Munoz, Judith Negron, and Tynice Hall, all tied to drug-related charges.

She also played a role in the <a href="https://time.com/5486560/prison-reform-jared-kushner-kim-kardashian-west/">2018 bill</a> that expanded the criminal reform initiative, allowing prisoners to earn credits for early release among its measures. Kardashian wasn’t the only player who made that happen, but she became its public face via her social media empire.
Trump’s second term has seen more of the same, right from the jump.
Rapper Snoop Dogg infamously starred in a 2017 music video in which he <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyle/trump-hits-back-at-snoop-dogg-assassination-video-idUSKBN16O04V/">“shot” a clownish Trump stand-in</a>.
Future Secretary of State Marco Rubio <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-39268735">blasted the clip</a>, telling TMZ at the time that, &#8220;If the wrong person sees that and gets the wrong idea, you could have a real problem.&#8221;
It was part of Hollywood’s collective wish for the real estate mogul to <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/celebrities-wished-trump-dead/">leave this mortal coil</a> during his first term.
The rapper/actor/pitchman apparently had a change of heart over time. By 2025, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2025/01/20/g-s1-43733/snoop-dogg-trump-perform-inauguration">Snoop Dogg performed</a> at a pre-inauguration gala dubbed the Crypto Ball alongside Rick Ross and Soulja Boy. That’s despite previously calling anyone who performed for Trump during his first term “<a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BPGvbw4jnvn/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again">Uncle Toms,” in a stereotypical, Stepin Fetchit-style voice</a>.

The rapper even stood up to social media critics who trashed him for his about-face.
“Y’all can’t hate enough for me, I love too much,” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BdjP-n8rIs">he told his critics</a>, via Entertainment Tonight. “We gotta pick each other up instead of putting each other down.”
Earlier this year, longtime Trump critic Bill Maher made the trek to the White House to break bread with his ideological foe. Maher got roasted for his trouble, including a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/21/opinion/larry-david-hitler-dinner.html">seething New York Times op-ed</a> from Larry David of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fame.
Maher even suggested recently he’d like a second dinner with Trump while continuing to roast his leadership.

The wildest part of the dinner? Maher had <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EwqzHsSEZY">Trump sign a list</a> of all the insults the president had thrown the comedian’s way over the years. Maher considers it a prized possession, one he has shown to his “Club Random” guests.
It took courage for stars to align with Trump during his first term.
Now, with a few more celebrities bucking conventional wisdom, the president’s “bedfellows” are looking a little less strange.

Just two months after making headlines for questioning a same-sex kiss scene in the Disney film “Lightyear,” Snoop Dogg has fully caved to the progressive mob. The 53-year-old rapper just announced that he teamed up with the LGBT activist organization GLAAD and wrote a new song with gay pride themes for his children’s series.
The recording artist, whose legal name is Calvin Broadus Jr., worked with GLAAD to promote “Spirit Day” for LGBT teens on Thursday. He teamed up with The Voice contestant Jeremy Beloate on “Love Is Love,” a song highlighted in the latest episode of Snoop’s animated children’s series Doggyland on YouTube.

“It’s teaching parenthood. “This is a program we’ve been doing for years where we involve kids,” he added. “These are things that kids have questions about so now hopefully we can help answer these questions and help them to live a happy life and understand that love is love.”
The rapper went on, “It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is … being able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it be two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”
This is a drastic about-face for Snoop, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snoop-dogg-calls-out-hollywood-for-lgbt-themes-in-childrens-films-theyre-putting-it-everywhere">criticized the inclusion</a> of same-sex couples in children’s programming in August after watching the movie “Lightyear” with his grandkids.
“What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop said before referencing the 2022 Disney film, which featured a same-sex couple. 
“They’re like, ‘She had a baby with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’” he went on.
The rapper said he thought, &#8220;&#8216;Oh sh**, I didn’t come in for this sh**. I just came to watch the g**damn movie.’” But his grandson wouldn’t let it go, and said, &#8220;They just said, she and she had a baby … they’re both women. How does she have a baby?” 
Snoop said the whole thing “f***ed me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh** that I don’t have an answer for.”
“It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this? … These are kids,” he added. “We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”
Many of Snoop’s followers were furious over the comments and accused him of defecting to the conservative side, especially considering that he had performed at a celebratory event before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
An Instagram apology that appeared to be sent from the rapper’s official Instagram account went viral one week later, but Snoop’s rep <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/was-snoop-doggs-apology-for-criticizing-gay-kiss-in-disney-movie-a-fake?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Was+Snoop+Dogg%E2%80%99s+Apology+For+Criticizing+Gay+Kiss+In+Disney+Movie+A+Fake%3F">denied</a> that it was legitimate. Snoop never issued an official apology for the “Lightyear” comments.

Rapper Snoop Dogg did not apologize for criticizing a gay storyline in the Disney film “Lightyear,” his rep said.
Rumors swirled that the recording artist was walking back his previous statement after a posted reply appeared on Instagram, which came from Snoop’s verified Instagram account. A video clip shared to Hollywood Unlocked included actress TS Madison discussing the controversy. 
The posted comment on the video from Snoop’s verified account said, “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-yr-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect,” it said.

However, according to multiple <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/08/snoop-dogg-my-bad-lightyear-lgbtq-comments-1236502279/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">outlets</a>, Snoop’s representative denies that the rapper made the apology himself, and also stated that no one on his team has admitted to doing so either. It’s unclear how the comment was posted from his verified account.

“Lightyear” screenwriter Lauren Gunderson defended the storyline after Snoop’s criticisms started circulating on social media. “So. I created the LIGHTYEAR lesbians,” she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DN21gOmUDwx/?img_index=1">wrote</a> in a statement on Instagram.
“As we wrote early versions of what became LIGHTYEAR, a key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write ‘she’ instead of ‘he.’ As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it,” Gunderson went on. 
“I’m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love… I was proud to see a happy queer couple (even for a few seconds) onscreen. I know they got a lot of sh** for this inclusion, but stuff like this matters because beautiful love like this exists,” she concluded.
“Lightyear” caused a controversy leading up to its release due to the inclusion of a same-sex kiss, which was initially edited out, then restored in response to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” by several legacy media outlets and leftists.
The film earned a paltry $226.4 million against a $200 million budget, meaning it likely lost money after factoring in marketing and other expenses.

“Lightyear” caused a controversy leading up to its release due to the inclusion of a same-sex kiss, which was initially edited out, then restored in response to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” by several legacy media outlets and leftists.
The film earned a paltry $226.4 million against a $200 million budget, meaning it likely lost money after factoring in marketing and other expenses. One Disney exec speculated in 2023 that the movie was a flop because they “asked too much of the audience” by doing a concept film based on the beloved “Toy Story” franchise. But critics say the boycotts and negative press surrounding the gay storyline were likely also a factor.
Many of Snoop’s left-wing followers are furious over his statements, evidenced by their insistence that he should be replaced as the headliner at the upcoming Australian Football League’s Grand Final, per <a href="https://ew.com/snoop-dogg-criticizes-lgbtq-representation-in-childrens-films-11796606">Entertainment Weekly</a>. 
This isn’t the first time critics have been angry. The rapper also caught heat for performing at a celebratory event before President Donald Trump’s January 2025 inauguration.

Rapper Snoop Dogg stole the show at the annual NFL Honors award show on Thursday, playfully poking fun at the 49-year age gap between former New England Patriots legendary head coach Bill Belichick, 72, and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
Snoop performed a monologue at the pre-Super Bowl event in New Orleans, saying he&#8217;s been a “football fan for a long time” while reminiscing about how things used to be in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL</a>.

Rap artist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/snoop-dogg">Snoop Dogg</a> clapped back at critics who took issue with him performing at one of the celebratory events ahead of the inauguration of President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a> last week.
The 53-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rap-music">entertainer</a>, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., addressed his haters via a video uploaded to Instagram on Sunday. Snoop had performed at an event called the Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C., on January 18, which is why so many followers were reacting badly. Soulja Boy and Rick Ross also performed at the event.
&#8220;For all the hate, I&#8217;m going to answer with love,&#8221; Snoop said in a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DFTK5UUy4y7/#">video</a> recorded in his car. &#8220;Y&#8217;all can&#8217;t hate enough; I love too much. Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I&#8217;m cool, I&#8217;m together. Still a black man. Still 100% black. All out &#8217;til you ball out, or &#8217;til you fall out.&#8221;
While the rapper had been critical of Trump during his first term as president, Snoop seems to have changed his mind in recent years. Critics couldn’t help but point out that the artist once pretended to shoot a clown dressed as Trump in 2017 in a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snoop-dogg-has-nothing-but-love-and-respect-for-trump-as-feud-goes-up-in-smoke">music video</a> for the song “Lavender.”
He also voiced his disdain in the song &#8220;M.A.C.A (Make America Crip Again),&#8221; saying, &#8220;The president say he wants to Make America Great Again, f***- that s***.&#8221;
Snoop <a href="https://x.com/XXL/status/1270826921455243268">called</a> Trump a &#8220;f***ing weirdo&#8221; on X in 2020, saying, &#8220;if you voted for him, I have no problem with that, but if you&#8217;re still with him, f*** you.&#8221;
But then in recent years, the rapper seems to have changed his mind. In 2021, Trump commuted the 25-to-life sentence of Michael Harris, co-founder of Death Row Records, for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. &#8220;That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out. They did some great work while they was in there,&#8221; Snoop said at the time.
Then in 2024, Snoop showed his appreciation for Trump again. “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me,” Snoop Dogg said, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snoop-dogg-has-nothing-but-love-and-respect-for-trump-as-feud-goes-up-in-smoke">reported</a>. “He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
Other mainstream artists have also come under fire for performing at Trump’s inauguration events, including “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood, Jewel, and Nelly.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not political. I&#8217;m not out here trying to tell anybody who they should vote for,&#8221; Nelly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-isnt-politics-rapper-nelly-defends-decision-to-perform-at-trumps-inaugural-ball">said</a> after performing at the inaugural ball. &#8220;But what I will say is that, I respect the office. Ritchie said, &#8220;Like, it&#8217;s OK … we think differently on a lot of things, but if you&#8217;re a reasonable person, and I really got to stress ‘reasonable,’ because Lord knows there are some fruitcakes out there.&#8221;
Underwood caught a lot of heat from fans due to her decision to sing “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration. She eventually issued a statement to fans, saying, &#8220;I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

Rap artist-turned-actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/snoop-dogg">Snoop Dogg</a> provided a brief update on Tuesday about his 24-year-old daughter Cori Broadus’ current condition as she recovers from a severe stroke.
“She&#8217;s doing a little bit better,” the 52-year-old told <a href="https://people.com/snoop-dogg-on-daughter-cori-broadus-recovery-after-stroke-exclusive-8548442">People Magazine</a> while attending the Los Angeles premiere of his new sports comedy, “The Underdoggs.” 
When the interviewer asked Snoop if the scary incident helped put his life’s priorities in perspective, the recording artist replied, “Yeah, yeah. Something like that.”
Cori is still in the hospital after experiencing a stroke on January 18, the publication noted. The rapper’s daughter shared on social media that she may be able to go home by Wednesday.
“They took me off heaprin [sic] tonight (blood thinner) &amp; most likely can go home tomorrow,” she told fans on Tuesday.
Cori had previously updated her social media followers on her condition after the stroke occurred. “I had a severe stroke this a.m. I started breaking down crying when they told me,” she wrote in a post shared Thursday. “Like I’m only 24, what did I do in my past to deserve all of this.”

Snoop’s daughter was diagnosed with Lupus, an autoimmune disease that targets healthy tissue and organs throughout the body, when she was six years old. Her mom, Shanté Broadus, said it took a while to get a correct diagnosis.
“No one could tell me what was wrong,” she said in 2010. “They drew tons of blood and said she has old-person cells. They gave her all kinds of [medication]. But she went downhill.”
“She’s the toughest little thing I’ve ever met,” Snoop said at the time. “She’s on the honor roll, playing volleyball and softball, living life. She has all this joy. In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is.”
Cori admitted to struggling with mental health and attempting suicide in 2021. 
“Just because my dad is who he is doesn’t mean I don’t get sad, that doesn’t mean that I don’t want things or that I don’t feel a way. I don’t know how to explain it,” she said during a May 2021 interview with <a href="https://people.com/music/snoop-dogg-daughter-cori-broadus-mental-health-suicide-attempt/">People</a>. “I’ve always been sad. I’ve always been depressed. I feel like I’ve been through a lot.”

Rapper <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/snoop-dogg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Snoop Dogg’s</a> 24-year-old daughter, Cori Broadus, said this week that she was hospitalized after suffering a &#8220;severe stroke.&#8221;
Broadus made the announcement Thursday on social media, which included photos from her hospital bed.
“I had a severe stroke this a.m. I started breaking down crying when they told me,” she wrote. “Like I’m only 24, what did I do in my past to deserve all of this.”
No details were shared about what led to her stroke or if she had an ischemic stroke, which occurs when blood clots or other particles block the blood vessels to the brain; or if she had a hemorrhagic stroke, which happens when an artery in the brain leaks blood or ruptures, according to the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/stroke/about.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CDC</a>.

In 2021, Cori Broadus revealed that she had experienced serious mental health struggles, including a suicide attempt, stemming from her illness.
Then 21 at the time, she said that she had become frustrated by comparing her life to others and feeling as though her struggles were not important to others, according to <a href="https://people.com/music/snoop-dogg-daughter-cori-broadus-mental-health-suicide-attempt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a>.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has been added as a reporter to NBC&#8217;s Olympic coverage of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.
The 52-year-old, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., will join NBC Sports broadcaster Mike Tirico to provide regular reports during primetime coverage, <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/nbc-snoop-dogg-2024-paris-olympics-primetime-1235858972/">Variety</a> reported.
&#8220;I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It&#8217;s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness,&#8221; he said in a statement. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It&#8217;s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked.&#8221; 
In a post on <a href="https://x.com/SnoopDogg/status/1741868267684462720?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X</a> on New Year&#8217;s Day, the rapper went viral with a video post where he danced in front of a background showcasing the Eiffel Tower.

The move to add the rapper to the broadcasts comes after the &#8220;Gin and Juice&#8221; hitmaker teamed with comedian Kevin Hart to give commentary for the 2020 Tokyo Games, <a href="https://www.si.com/olympics/2024/01/01/nbc-add-snoop-dogg-reporter-for-paris-olympics-coverage">Sports Illustrated</a> noted.
Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production, told Variety that Snoop&#8217;s past coverage generated &#8220;tens of millions of views.&#8221;
&#8220;That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our Special Correspondent in Paris,&#8221; she added. &#8220;We don&#8217;t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our re-imagined Olympic primetime show.&#8221;
The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics is currently scheduled for July 26.
