Who is Shepard Smith? Shepard Smith (full name David Shepard Smith Jr.) is a television news anchor who has hosted a number of shows on the Fox News Channel, where he has been employed since its inception in 1996. Shepard Smith was born on January 14, 1964 and raised in Holly Springs, Mississippi, but moved to Florida during high school. He attended the University of Mississippi’s school of journalism before landing his first television contract in Panama City Beach, Florida. After working in several cities in Florida in the 1980s, Smith moved to Los Angeles to work for A Current Affair. In 1996 he was hired by the new Fox News Channel.
