Comedian Seth Rogen, an avowed leftist, weighed in with a blunt take on why the country is so divided politically.
&#8220;I personally try not to go too dark on all of it and think like, ‘Oh, are we on the precipice of global societal collapse?’” the “Knocked Up” star said in an Esquire <a href="https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a63613027/seth-rogen-interview-2025/">interview</a> posted Tuesday. “Since the end of the Civil War, America’s remained a very divided country in a lot of ways.”
Rogen vaguely referenced President Donald Trump’s campaign promises to prosecute criminals as resonating with people, even those in Democrat-heavy urban areas. 
“People get sick of seeing f***ing hippies doing acid and f***ng on their lawns, and they’re like, ‘Let’s f***ing clean up these streets a little bit,’” Rogen told the outlet. “And then people get sick of seeing f***ng dorks cleaning up the streets and they go back the other way. That’s not to say it doesn’t have very real and troubling ramifications on many people’s lives, but I try to maintain hope that the ball will roll onwards, even though it might be wobbling back and forth.”
This observation differs from what Rogen said a couple of years ago when an X user complained about having his car broken into. At the time, the actor urged the crime victim to just deal with it because crime was common, and Los Angeles “still had a lot going for it.”
“Dude I’ve lived here for over 20 years. You’re nuts haha. It’s lovely here. Don’t leave anything valuable in [your car]. It’s called living in a big city,” he responded to the person who had his personal items stolen, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/seth-rogen-slammed-for-dismissing-victim-of-crime-in-la-saying-its-lovely-here">reported</a>.
“i can still be mad tho right? feel so violated,” the person replied, prompting Rogen to write, “You can be mad but I guess I don’t personally view my car as an extension of myself and I’ve never really felt violated any of the 15 or so times my car was broken in to. Once a guy accidentally left a cool knife in my car so if it keeps happening you might get a little treat.”
“I lived in West Hollywood for 20 years and parked on the street. … Also it sucks your sh** was stolen but LA is not some sh**hole city. As far as big cities go it has a lot going for it,” he added in a follow-up.

Artists make movies. Critics review them.
It’s a simple, and symbiotic relationship that dates back to the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2012/jan/17/birth-film-criticism-100-years" target="_blank" rel="noopener">early days of cinema</a>. Actors often thank film critics for their support during awards season and, more specifically at the annual Critics Choice Awards gala.
Lately, that connection has come under fire from the artists’ side of the equation.
Blame social media, the proliferation of news outlets, or our increasingly sensitive times when being a victim is the greatest status possible.
Now, some creatives are lashing out when their work draws angry reviews from the expanding critical classes. Rotten Tomatoes, not only lets artists see a gaggle of reviews in one glance but offers a crisp summation of the critical community. Fresh … or rotten. 
And the artists are paying attention.
It’s why actress <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/rachel-zegler-shazam-2-critics-hate-1235559517/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Zegler cried foul (on Twitter)</a> when “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” scored a meek 52% “rotten” score you-know-where.
<blockquote>“Hey our film is actually really good. But mostly I just absolutely loved making it and the people I met whilst doing so. Go see it! Give it a chance. We have an 85% audience score for a reason.”</blockquote>
The film’s director, David F. Sandberg, <a href="https://deadline.com/2023/03/shazam-fury-of-the-gods-director-david-f-sandberg-surprised-film-criticism-1235305168/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took a lighter approach</a> but still called out critics who didn’t enjoy his film.
<blockquote>“I wasn’t expecting a repeat of the first movie critically but I was still a little surprised because I think it’s a good film. Oh well.”</blockquote>
Those comments came days after Seth Rogen, one of the most successful comic actors/producers of the modern era, <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2023/03/08/seth-rogen-bemoans-film-critics-reviews-podcast/11428413002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">came down even harder on the critical community</a>.
<blockquote>&#8220;I think if most critics knew how much it hurt the people that they are writing about (they would be) second guessing the way they write these things … I know [artists] who never recover … it is devastating when you are being like institutionally told that your personal expression was bad. Like that is like devastating.&#8221;</blockquote>
It’s worth noting Rogen can be pretty cruel himself, lashing out at conservatives and, more specifically, once demeaning former <a href="https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/seth-rogen-insults-paul-ryan-kids/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rep. Paul Ryan in front of his children</a>.
Sometimes critics do go too far, making their reviews personal, even petty. And, on occasion, the stars will call them out for it.
Carey Mulligan earned raves for her work in 2021’s “Promising Young Woman.” One criticism in Variety rubbed her the wrong way by mocking her physical appearance.
<blockquote>“Mulligan, a fine actress, seems a bit of an odd choice as this admittedly many-layered apparent femme fatale — Margot Robbie is a producer here, and one can (perhaps too easily) imagine the role might once have been intended for her. Whereas with this star, Cassie wears her pickup-bait gear like bad drag; even her long blonde hair seems a put-on.”</blockquote>
Mulligan complained, and the outlet served up a sheepish apology.
Reliably grouchy critic Rex Reed once pummeled “Identity Thief” star Melissa McCarthy as both a “female hippo” and being a “a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/16/movies/melissa-mccarthy-goes-over-the-top.html?pagewanted=1&amp;_r=0&amp;hp=" target="_blank" rel="noopener">McCarthy complained about the review</a> publicly, but Reed defended his critique. He added the controversy helped stir up ticket sales while offering an olive branch, of sorts, to McCarthy by calling her “classy.”
Other artists have taken critics on in a more direct, and divisive manner.
Night Shyamalan’s 2006 dud “The Lady and the Water” featured a film critic character played by Bob Balaban. Roger Ebert noted both the character and his role in the film in his scathing, but comic review.

OK, not me, precisely, but Film Criticism Itself, embodied by the splendid (movie critic word) <a href="https://www.rogerebert.com/cast-and-crew/bob-balaban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bob Balaban</a> as Mr. Farber, who is this film&#8217;s own resident newspaper movie critic, offering caustic, self-aware commentary on the shortcomings of &#8220;Lady in the Water&#8221; as it sloshes along. In Shyamalan&#8217;s rickety mythology, Mr. Farber represents&#8230; well, nothing so much as the filmmaker&#8217;s pre-emptive strike against the bad reviews he expects to receive for making this poorly written, stiffly directed, audience-insulting story-without-a-cause.&#8221;</blockquote>
Actor/director Zach Braff offered up a more balanced take on the artist/critic divide, and he should know. Critics swooned over his 2004 directorial debut, “Garden State.” Now, some of those same critics have soured on the presentation, suggesting it’s aged badly via its indie tropes and twee characters.
Braff recently told Variety he’s at <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/zach-braff-garden-state-hatred-manic-pixie-dream-girl-backlash-1235560324/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">peace with the shift.</a>
<blockquote>“I just feel lucky that I get to make stuff. I can’t really dwell on it,” Braff said. “Anyone who’s ever got a bad grade on an essay from a teacher can relate — just imagine it was out there in public, you know? No one said being a creative person was easy, but you have to be vulnerable and authentically yourself. Otherwise, what’s the point?”</blockquote>
Quentin Tarantino, a critical darling, may have the final word on the increasingly tenuous ties between filmmaker and critic.
The “Pulp Fiction” auteur’s 10th and allegedly final film will be called <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/quentin-tarantino-sets-the-movie-critic-final-movie-1235351260/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Movie Critic.”</a> We know little about the project beyond it being set in the 1970s and boasting a female lead.
Will it pay tribute to Pauline Kael, arguably the most influential critic outside of Siskel &amp; Ebert? Or will it serve up a mash note to critics from the former video store clerk? Perhaps Tarantino will settle old scores with the few critics who have savaged his movies over the years.
If it’s the latter, the floodgates may open on actors following in the auteur’s footsteps.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/seth-rogen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Seth Rogen</a> claims his life is “happier” and better overall because he and wife Lauren Miller decided not to have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">children</a>.
The 40-year-old Canadian-born actor and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filmmaker</a> is best known for his comedic roles in hit films such as “Superbad” and “Knocked Up.” Rogen discussed his outlook on his life and career during an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR8Zq0xuCz8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with the “Diary of a CEO” podcast that was released Wednesday.
“There&#8217;s a whole huge thing I&#8217;m not doing, which is raising children,” the actor said. When host Steven Bartlett asked Rogen if his life would have been “happier” with kids, the “Freaks and Geeks” alum said that it would not.
“I don&#8217;t think it would,” Rogen replied. “I&#8217;ve been around obviously a lot of children. I&#8217;m not ignorant to what it’s like … Everyone I know has kids. I&#8217;m 40, you know? I know.”
“Some of my friends have had kids for decades. Some people want kids, some people don&#8217;t want kids,” he continued. “I mean, a lot of people have kids before they even think about it, from what I&#8217;ve seen, honestly. You just are told, you go through life, you get married, you have kids — it’s what happens.”
Rogen went on to say how he and Miller never wanted children and haven’t really wavered on that stance since they wed in 2011. Further, the actor claims his life is better without any kids to distract from his career goals.
“Me and my wife, neither of us were like that,” he said. “Honestly, the older we get the more happy and reaffirmed we are with our choice to not have kids. It was something we kind of talked about more, and we were like, ‘Have we made the right choice? Are we sure?’ Now, more than anything, the conversation is like, ‘Honestly, thank God we don’t have children.’ We get to do whatever we want.”
Rogen went on, “We are in the prime of our lives. We are smarter than we&#8217;ve ever been. We understand ourselves more than we ever have. We have the capacity to achieve a level of work and a level of communication and care for one another, and a lifestyle we can live with one another that we&#8217;ve never been able to live before, and we can just do that and we don&#8217;t have to raise a child — which the world does not need right now.”

The actor’s comments come just after comedian Chelsea Handler made similar claims about being happier without offspring. She created a spoof “day in the life” video showing herself sleeping in, traveling, and wearing high heels to brag about all the things she could do because she was childless.
“I wake up at 6 a.m. I remember that I have no kids to take to school, so I take an edible, masturbate, and go back to sleep,” Handler brags during the video.
Viewers pointed out how “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/extremely-sad-chelsea-handlers-day-in-the-life-of-a-childless-woman-spoof-goes-viral" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extremely sad</a>” the video was. They also called it misleading, as it mentioned chasing toddlers around the grocery store. 
“Chelsea Handler acts like she wouldn’t be able to do all the traveling and relaxing she does if she had kids. Said she gets to wear heels because she’s not ‘chasing a kid around a grocery store.’ Girl, you are 47. Your kids could be graduated from college and married by now,” conservative podcast host Allie Beth Stuckey wrote in her response.

The artist was responding to a tweet from @uberfacts — billed as &#8220;the most unimportant things you&#8217;ll never need to know&#8221; — that revealed such a job actually existed.

But Snoop Dogg apparently wanted to make sure everyone knew he was doing right by his staff during trying economic times, so he fired off a tweet of his own.

The rapper first mentioned the fact that he had a professional blunt roller on his staff during an interview with veteran shock jock and Sirius XM host Howard Stern.
&#8220;That motherf***er is like Lurch from &#8216;The Addams Family,'&#8221; he said. &#8220;‘You rang?’ That motherf***er’s timing is impeccable.&#8221;
Actor Seth Rogen — also well&#8217; known for his own enthusiasm for the occasional blunt — appeared alongside the artist and confirmed that professional blunt rollers did, in fact, exist.
When Stern pressed for more information, asking whether Snoop Dogg really did officially employ someone whose sole purpose was making sure he was never lacking in the blunt department — and the rapper obliged.
&#8220;That’s his J-O-B—his occupation. On his resume, it says, &#8216;what do you do?&#8217; I’m a blunt roller. Professional — P-B-R, professional blunt roller,&#8221; Snoop Dogg confirmed.
&#8220;How does that come about, Snoop?&#8221; Stern asked.
&#8220;If you&#8217;re great at something that I need, I&#8217;m hiring you,&#8221; Snoop Dogg replied matter-of-factly, prompting laughter from Rogen and more questions from Stern.
&#8220;What kind of income can a guy make, rolling joints?&#8221; he asked, comparing a professional blunt roller to a professional wine steward — who <a href="https://www.salary.com/research/salary/benchmark/sommelier-salary/ca">might make</a> between $52,000 and $83,000 annually. &#8220;You know, it&#8217;s almost like a sommelier. How do you figure out a salary for this guy?&#8221;
That was when Snoop Dogg revealed that the going rate for the job was &#8220;somewhere between $40,000 and $50,000 a year.&#8221;
Since that interview took place in 2019, however, inflation has certainly taken its toll. According to <a href="https://www.officialdata.org/us/inflation/2019?amount=40000">OfficialData.org</a>, inflation has risen by 13.08% since 2019. That means that if the rapper has been raising his blunt roller&#8217;s salary to keep pace with inflation, the new salary range would have to be between $45,230 and $56,500.

Actor Bill Murray gave an interview over the weekend where he addressed the allegations of inappropriate behavior that led to his latest film being shut down.
The movie, &#8220;Being Mortal,&#8221; which includes other top actors like Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogan, was set to be released in 2023 before the incident. It is now not clear whether Murray will continue to be a part of the film.
Speaking to CNBC on Saturday, Murray chalked up the incident, which he did not elaborate on, as a &#8220;difference of opinion,&#8221; <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/04/bill-murray-being-mortal-production-suspension-speaks-out-1235013728/">saying</a> that he did something that he thought was funny, but that it was not received that way by the other party.
“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray said. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production. But as of now, we’re talking and we’re trying to make peace with each other. I think that’s where the real issue is, between our peace. We’re both professionals. We like each other’s work. We like each other, I think, and if you can’t really get along and trust each other, there’s no point in going further working together or making a movie as well.”
“And I feel like if I don’t see that, you know, the world is different than it was when I was a little kid,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You know, what I always thought was funny as a little kid isn’t necessarily the same as what’s funny now. Things change and the times change, so it’s important for me to figure it out. And I think the most important thing is that it’s best for the other person. I thought about it, and if it’s not best for the other person, doesn’t matter what happens for me.”
Murray said that what would make him the happiest is if all parties involved could get back to work and learn to trust each other and the work that they&#8217;ve been doing, and that they can grow from the incident.
Searchlight Pictures sent a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/filming-suspended-after-inappropriate-behavior-complaint-filed-against-bill-murray-report">letter</a> to everyone involved with the project last week, notifying them that they had decided to pause production until the incident was thoroughly investigated.
“Late last week, we were made aware of a complaint, and we immediately looked into it,&#8221; the letter stated. &#8220;After reviewing the circumstances, it has been decided that production cannot continue at this time. We are truly grateful to all of you for everything you’ve put into this project. Our hope is to resume production and are working with Aziz and [producer] Youree [Henley] to figure out that timing.”

Seth Rogen may be a well-known actor, but he understands why the audience has been shrinking in recent years for Hollywood&#8217;s biggest night. The “Knocked Up” alum said he’s not surprised that viewers have stopped tuning to the ceremony in recent years. 
“I don’t get why movie people care so much if other people care what awards we give ourselves,” the 39-year-old actor said during an <a href="https://www.insider.com/seth-rogen-people-dont-care-the-oscars-2022-2">interview</a> with Insider.
“To me, maybe people just don’t care,” Rogen continued. “I don’t care who wins the automobile awards. No other industry expects everyone to care about what awards they shower upon themselves. Maybe people just don’t care. Maybe they did for a while and they stopped caring. And why should they?”
Viewership for the Oscars has been declining for years. According to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/02/11/seth-rogen-people-dont-care-about-oscars-outside-hollywood/">New York Post</a>, only 9.85 million people tuned in for the 2021 installment while 23.6 million watched the Oscars in 2020. Viewership was at 29.6 million in 2019.
There could be a few reasons for this, and no doubt some of them are pandemic related. Notable in 2019, the Academy did away with in-person hosts after a controversy caused the slated host, comedian Kevin Hart, to back out of the gig.
Fans brought up “homophobic” jokes Hart made in the past. The comedian voluntarily stepped down as host after apologizing for offending anyone. 
“I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscars,” the comedian said at the time on Twitter. “This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”
The Oscars will have hosts in 2022 for the first time since Jimmy Kimmel did the job back in 2018. It’s believed that Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall will be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amy-schumer-regina-hall-and-wanda-sykes-tapped-to-host-2022-oscars">sharing hosting duties</a> for the 2022 installment of the show.
Rogen has never been nominated for an Oscar but has attended and even performed at several ceremonies. The “Knocked Up” actor teamed up with his “Pineapple Express” co-star James Franco for a skit at the Oscars show in 2009.
The Academy Awards haven’t been back to “normal” since the COVID-19 pandemic began, but this year is the closest it’ll be to a time before masks and vaccines were part of every conversation about large gatherings. 
In yet another controversial moment, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/amy-schumer-regina-hall-and-wanda-sykes-tapped-to-host-2022-oscars/">announced their plan</a> not to mandate proof of vaccination (with or without a booster) in order to attend this year’s in person Oscars ceremony. Instead, attendees will need to provide a negative PCR test or a negative rapid antigen test on the day of the event.
However, the Academy does require their employees to be vaccinated with rare medical exemptions. These truths have been met with derision and anger on social media since the announcements were made.

Actor Seth Rogen was among the many people who called out the 2021 Emmy Awards ceremony for seemingly failing to abide by COVID health and safety protocols, though he did not mention the hypocrisy of the elites getting to break rules that others are forced to follow.
Rogen was the first presenter of the night and used his moment to ask why the awards ceremony was not as advertised when it came to COVID restrictions.
&#8220;Let me start by saying, there’s way too many of us in this little room. What are we doing? They said this was outdoors. It&#8217;s not,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They lied to us. We&#8217;re in a hermetically-sealed tent right now. I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided.”
&#8220;This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to Paul Bettany sneezing in my face. So, that’s a big week! If anyone’s gonna sneeze in my face, Paul, I want it to be you,&#8221; he added.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has since said that the event didn&#8217;t violate COVID-19 guidelines because it followed the rules in place for films and productions, which have &#8220;additional safety modifications&#8221; intended for &#8220;controlled interactions.&#8221;
&#8220;The Emmy Award Show is a television production, and persons appearing on the show are considered performers,&#8221; read the statement, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/emmys-2021-los-angeles-county-responds-criticism-lack-covid-19-protocols">according</a> to Fox News. &#8220;All persons appearing on or in the audience of the Emmy Award Show were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.&#8221;
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/emmys-go-maskless-get-blasted-masking-is-solely-reserved-for-us-peasants">reported</a>, other presenters at the show did not take kindly to Rogen’s &#8220;criticism.”

Cedric the Entertainer chimed in, “It actually feels amazing in here unlike what Seth (Rogen) was talking about. It feels good. We’re all vaxxed. We had to get vaxxed to come here. I got vaxxed. I did not have a reaction like Micki Minaj’s cousin’s friend. I got Pfizer because I’m bougie. Pfizer is the Neiman Marcus of vaccines. Moderna, that’s Macy’s. Johnson &amp; Johnson, that’s TJ Maxx.”</blockquote>
The Emmys took place in a region with strict COVID restrictions, yet celebrities appeared to flout those restrictions and fall back on the fact that they are vaccinated, even though cities with strict mask guidelines have set them in place regardless of vaccination status.
Just a week earlier, numerous elites &#8212; including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY – attended the annual Met Gala. Just like the Emmys, the Met Gala was indoors, yet celebrity attendees did not wear masks while those serving them were required to do so, as one Twitter user noted.
“Why is it that only ‘the help’ have to wear masks at the Emmy’s? First it was the Met Gala. And now this. Seems that Covid-19 gives you a pass if you are wearing black tie or a designer frock. Or maybe it is just one rule for one group … and one for another,” the user wrote.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also called out the celebrities, saying they are the “same liberals [who] sanctimoniously mock Republicans for giving parents a choice about masks.”
Celebrities aren’t the only ones ignoring COVID rules forced on other people. Politicians have also ignored their own rules. Most recently, San Francisco Mayor London Breed was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/san-francisco-mayor-photographed-indoors-without-mask-despite-mandate-responds-by-denouncing-fun-police">photographed dancing and singing</a> at a jazz club without her mask. When asked about it, Breed lamented the “fun police” and said that she “got up and started dancing because I was feeling the spirit and I wasn’t thinking about a mask.” Other people aren’t allowed such an excuse.

Actor-turned-producer Seth Rogen (&#8220;Knocked Up&#8221;) makes comedies for theatrical release, a stiffly competitive market, apparently, due to Marvel.
Speaking with <a title="(opens new window)" href="https://www.gamesradar.com/seth-rogen-interview-an-american-pickle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GamesRadar</a>, Rogen said that Marvel movies are essentially &#8220;$200 million comedies&#8221; that comedic filmmakers have to compete with.
&#8220;Something that me and [producing partner] Evan [Goldberg] talk about a lot is how <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/category/topic/marvel" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Marvel</a> movies are comedies,&#8221; Rogen said, as reported by <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/seth-rogen-marvel-films-coemdy-competition">Fox News</a>. &#8220;&#8216;Thor: Ragnarok&#8217; is a comedy. &#8216;Ant-Man&#8217; is a comedy at its core. So that&#8217;s what&#8217;s out there. There are $200-million comedies out there, and so that&#8217;s something, as a comedic filmmaker, to be aware of. That is the benchmark that people expect!&#8221;
&#8220;If you&#8217;re going to make a big huge comedy, just know that your competition is Marvel. Not to say you should not make those types of films, but know that&#8217;s what audiences are seeing, and that, when you see those movies in theaters, they are playing like comedies. They are legitimately funny and star comedy stars,&#8221; continued Rogen.
The trick, according to Rogen, is to differentiate the comedies he offers from the comedy that Marvel offers.
&#8220;What we&#8217;re offering is pure comedy and emotion and relatability and nostalgia. That&#8217;s the trade-off,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You don&#8217;t get to see the God of Thunder being hilarious, but you get to see something that maybe represents your actual life, and that&#8217;s very gratifying in another way.&#8221;
Seth Rogen, who leans politically Left, made headlines last week when he said that he is &#8220;actively trying to make less things starring white people.&#8221; He said this even while promoting his recent film, &#8220;An American Pickle,&#8221; in which he plays both lead characters at the same time.
“I mean, personally, I think I am just actively trying to make less things starring white people,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/seth-rogen-im-actively-trying-to-make-less-things-starring-white-people">Rogen said</a>. “And if I’m succeeding or I’m not, I’m very much looking to have a far more diverse group of writers and directors and actors that we generally work with, because that group is not incredibly diverse, you know?”

“So that’s how I’ve been trying to deal with it, is just to actively take as they would say, anti-racist measures to assure that some work is [being] done to acknowledge that Black people are very marginalized in American society,” he added.
Prior to that statement, Rogen outraged Jewish conservatives when he openly knocked the state of Israel as something that makes no sense and thrives on propaganda at the expense of the Palestinians.
“You don’t keep all your Jews in one basket,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/seth-rogen-i-was-fed-a-huge-amount-of-lies-about-israel">he said</a> on Marc Maron&#8217;s podcast. “It makes no sense whatsoever. It would be nice to live somewhere that was not a part of the Christian apocalyptic prophecy. … Maybe settle somewhere that the Christians don’t think you all have to die in order for the Apocalypse [to happen].”
“To me it just seems an antiquated thought process,” he continued. “If it is for religious reasons, I don’t agree with it, because I think religion is silly. If it is for truly the preservation of Jewish people, it makes no sense, because again, you don’t keep something you’re trying to preserve all in one place — especially when that place has proven to be pretty volatile, you know? ‘I’m trying to keep all these things safe, I’m gonna put them in my blender and hope that that’s the best place.&#8217;”

Seth Rogen: Marvel Films Are ‘$200 Million Comedies’

In an <a href="https://ew.com/movies/seth-rogen-interview-american-pickle/">interview</a> published Monday, vocal anti-Trump actor and producer Seth Rogen said he is actively working to create fewer projects that star white people, responding to a question concerning the apparent lack of racial diversity in Hollywood.
&#8220;One of the biggest conversations of the last couple years, at least in Hollywood, has been around inclusion riders and the general efforts to bring more diversity to the movies we see, both behind and in front of the camera,&#8221; Entrainment Weekly said to Rogen. &#8220;As a famous white guy in the industry, what do you feel like your role in that can be?&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, personally, I think I am just actively trying to make less things starring white people,&#8221; Rogen answered. &#8220;And if I’m succeeding or I’m not, I’m very much looking to have a far more diverse group of writers and directors and actors that we generally work with, because that group is not incredibly diverse, you know?&#8221;

As noted by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/citing-white-privilege-jenny-slate-gives-up-voiceover-role-of-mixed-animated-character-after-discussion-with-shows-black-collaborators">The Daily Wire</a>, actress Jenny Slate announced in June that she would be stepping down from her voiceover gig as a mixed-race animated cartoon character on Netflix’s “Big Mouth,” maintaining that “Black characters on an animated show should be played by Black people.”
According to Slate, it was her “white privilege” that helped her obtain the role in the first place. And while she initially thought taking the role was okay, since the animated charter has a Jewish mother, and Slate is Jewish, she ultimately decided to step down so a person of color could take the job.
Actress Kristen Bell also stepped aside from her role voicing a non-white character named Molly on the animated show “Central Park.”
&#8220;She apologized for her &#8216;lack of awareness&#8217; of her &#8216;pervasive privilege,&#8217; and admitted that &#8216;casting a mixed race character with a white actress undermines the specificity of the mixed race and Black American experience,'&#8221; outlined <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/walsh-our-country-is-finally-realizing-that-its-simply-not-okay-for-actors-to-pretend-to-be-something-they-arent">Matt Walsh</a> in an op-ed for The Daily Wire.
During the Entertainment Weekly interview, Rogen was also asked about the legalization of weed with the U.S.

&#8220;I’m happy, but it’s not over at all,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If anything right now it’s in a worse place, because it’s completely legal for some people and completely illegal in other places for other people, and it’s almost at the most hypocritical point it’s ever been in America right now.&#8221;

&#8220;Like when the full-on war on drugs was happening, at least they were fully entrenched in their own bulls***, you know? But now there’s this acknowledgment that it’s not bad and it’s good business and that it reduces crime when it’s legal, but they still are putting a lot of not-white people in jail for it in a lot of states,” he continued.

&#8220;So on one hand [the government] acknowledges that it’s fine, and on the other hand people are having their lives ruined. It’s nice in general to see the acknowledgement that it’s not some horrible drug, though my attitude toward it has been the same,&#8221; Rogen added. &#8220;Nor did I ever feel any shame about it or any of the stigma associated with it, so I personally don’t feel that different.&#8221;

The actor made headlines back in June when he, along with other celebrities, donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) to help bail out rioters in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd.
Other celebrities like Steve Carell, Janelle Monae, Ben Schwartz, and Don Cheadle also chipped in $1,000 to the MFF.
