Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, best known for starring in the HBO drama series “Sex and the City,” explained why she doesn’t always comment on political issues.
“I often don’t talk on social media because I don’t think it’s a place that’s deserving of any real complicated conversation,” the 60-year-old celeb <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-best-people-with-nicolle-wallace/id1817225413">said</a> during an appearance on the Monday episode of Nicolle Wallace’s “The Best People” podcast.
“I’m not interested in quick little snippets when it’s dealing with conflict or even elections sometimes,” she added. “I really was so thoughtful about how I wanted to talk about the election because I think it turns into a distraction from a campaign. It turns into fodder. It’s misunderstood. You have no control over it.”
Parker also cited historical precedent, noting how “FDR was elected without social media.”
“Many things happened, right and left, Republicans and Democrats for many, many, many, many years — many generations were elected without someone having to say something on Instagram,” Parker continued.
The HBO star said she will only speak on social issues if she’s “comfortable,” plus said she’s unwilling to speak on topics she doesn’t know enough about.
“I’m not going to talk about stuff that I don’t feel educated on,” Parker told the podcast audience. “I’m not going to jump in on really complex areas that I feel are deserving of far more thought, consideration, nuance — which I know no one’s interested in. And I just feel like I want to be helpful. I don’t want to hurt something that matters to me.”
To help educate herself about political issues, the actress said she tries to figure out “what is scary and what is dangerous.” She said she wants to know “the difference between something being said and the reality of it happening.”
While Parker has been criticized by fans for not always talking politics like so many other celebs, she did endorse Harris and Walz ahead of the 2024 election.
“For the love of my country, For our public schools, for books, For common sense gun laws, For a living wage, For opportunity, For women, For voting rights, For the Dreamers, For arts and culture, For my mother and senior citizens,” she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBeB6dTxFgz/?hl=en">listed off </a>in a 2024 Instagram caption alongside a photo of her hanging up a campaign sign. “With an abundance of joy, optimism and pride, I am voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”

&#8220;Sex And The City&#8221; star Sarah Jessica Parker backed out of two events Wednesday because of a &#8220;devastating family situation,&#8221; which was later reported to be the death of her stepfather, Paul Giffin Forste.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sarah-jessica-parker">57-year-old</a> actress was set to be honored at the New York City Ballet&#8217;s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center before reportedly <a href="https://www.etonline.com/sarah-jessica-parker-has-family-emergency-misses-nyc-ballet-gala-and-press-event-191780">backing out</a>, and news of her stepdad&#8217;s passing surfaced. Forste, who was 76, had been married to her mom, Barbara Parker, for more than fifty years. He died on Wednesday, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/09/29/sarah-jessica-parkers-devastating-family-situation-revealed/">Page Six</a> reported.
Parker&#8217;s family has since released a statement on the loss of their loved one.
&#8220;Our family is sad to announce that after an unexpected and rapid illness, Paul Giffin Forste passed away yesterday at age 76,&#8221; the statement read. &#8220;In his last moments he was surrounded with the love and gratitude of his adored wife Barbara of 54 years, and children, including Sarah Jessica Parker.&#8221;
&#8220;Paul will be remembered with the spirit of loving kindness which was his faith, his special delight in his 13 grandchildren, and his sustained belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant, and beautiful place for all,&#8221; the statement added.
The superstar actress not only missed the gala but a global virtual press conference for &#8220;Hocus Pocus 2&#8221; as well. Parker&#8217;s rep confirmed to the <a href="https://www.etonline.com/sarah-jessica-parker-has-family-emergency-misses-nyc-ballet-gala-and-press-event-191780">outlet</a> that her absence at both events was due to a &#8220;family emergency&#8221; but didn&#8217;t elaborate on what that was.
A person attending the New York Ballet 2022 event previously told <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/09/28/sarah-jessica-parker-misses-gala-after-devastating-family-situation/?_ga=2.8160946.1668182818.1664279072-611153849.1658343382">Page Six</a> that as soon as the &#8220;Failure To Launch&#8221; star arrived, she left. A speaker at the gala reportedly told the audience that she had to back out because of a &#8220;sudden devastating family situation.&#8221;

News of her family&#8217;s loss comes just a day after the premiere of the long-awaited &#8220;Hocus Pocus 2,&#8221; a sequel to Disney&#8217;s 1993 hit, &#8220;Hocus Pocus.&#8221; Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy all returned for the Halloween-themed movie that hits the Disney+ streaming site on Friday, September 30.

The “Sex and the City” revival “And Just Like That” is reaching the end of season one soon, leading viewers to wonder if that’ll be the end of the line for Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda. The fate of these three cult favorite characters doesn’t feel certain after mediocre reviews plagued the reboot.
Now it sounds like the trio will live to see another season. Sarah Jessica Parker addressed the looming question during an <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/and-just-like-that-more-seasons-michael-patrick-king-1235168146/">interview</a> with Variety Tuesday.  
“[Executive Producer Michael Patrick King] and I spoke two weeks ago, and said: ‘OK, when are we going to talk about this?’” Parker told the publication. “There’s a calendar and you don’t want to let too much time pass. There feels like there’s momentum.”
The critics may not love the series, but HBO Max executives are pleased with how many people are tuning in regardless. “In terms of viewership, it’s been phenomenal. I couldn’t be happier with how it’s doing in terms of reception,” chief content officer Casey Bloys said.
King also told Variety that a Kim Cattrall cameo is highly unlikely. &#8220;I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again,” the producer told Variety.
However, fans have already proven they’re willing to watch the other three main characters navigate dating and life in their 50s, even if some viewers are watching out of morbid curiosity and not necessarily because they’re loving it.
A New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/12/09/new-sex-and-the-city-series-is-woke-weird-and-awful/">review</a> early in the season pointed out several issues with the reboot, which only reinforced some of the worst aspects of the original “Sex and the City.” 
“Carrie was always the worst, a narcissist who grew more malignant with each passing season. It’s amazing that SJP can’t see it — she’s always played Carrie as a charismatic, irresistible heroine rather than the soul-sucking friend and mediocre writer she is,” the review said.
The article also addressed some of the bizarre additions to the narrative, which tried its best to be woke and progressive but instead got slammed for trying too hard.
“The cringe, after all these years, remains strong,” the review continues, citing several examples. “The sophisticated and urbane lawyer Miranda Hobbes acts as though she’s never encountered a black person in her decades of living in Brooklyn and New York City.”
“And we’re meant to believe a humorless nonbinary character [Sarah Ramirez as Che Diaz] — jackknifed into this milieu — is a stand-up comic, given to hyper-woke campus jargon such as, ‘What can … a straight cis male personally do to eradicate the harmful patriarchal system of this gender binary compulsive heterosexuality?’”
Since that review dropped, Miranda separated from her husband, fan-favorite character Steve Brady, to pursue a relationship with the nonbinary podcast host Che. But instead of embracing Miranda’s new adventure, viewers are mostly sad the character is confusing infatuation with love and giving up on her marriage for a fling. Especially when she chastised Carrie for doing the same during the original “Sex and the City.” 
With promising viewership numbers plus Parker’s hinting at a season two, there’s a good chance “And Just Like That” will be renewed. Hopefully writers take the criticism to heart and start crafting a more realistic script that isn’t so focused on pandering to the woke crowd.

Spoiler alert: Peloton has responded in hilarious fashion to the &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; reboot, which featured one of the fitness equipment company&#8217;s bikes in the death of a key character.
Peloton’s stock dropped 11.3% last Thursday — hitting a 19-month low — after “Mr. Big” was shown dying of a heart attack after a 45-minute power workout on one of the company’s in-home exercise bikes. On Friday, the stock price continued to drop, closing at -5.4% for the day.
“According to Peloton, the company had approved the show’s use of the bike as well as the appearance of ‘Allegra,’ a fictional instructor played by real-life Peloton cycling instructor Jess King,” detailed <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/peloton-stock-drops-just-character-152555676.html?guce_referrer=ahr0chm6ly93d3cuz29vz2xllmnvbs8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=aqaaagokptheyjxptpjkowdbtositn3k16kkzs4deizz8jipyjbi-unhozzv-n4ij7lwud5gb9dsuw1ymxqjl9dxomauqpyjubrfgnqmwh-emzlkvccgnanf9jbrfdgzcoyii10-0poztryx9doc69g20ric9wycn64ss4a7lrgt8azd">Variety</a>. “However, Peloton did not know that ‘And Just Like That,’ which premiered Dec. 9, would show Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, collapsing and then dying after a Peloton workout.”
“This was not a product/brand placement,” a Peloton spokeswoman <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/peloton-strikes-back-at-sex-and-the-city-reboot-with-new-ad-11639404970">said</a>. “Peloton did not have a formal product placement agreement with either the show or HBO. This was a casting opportunity for one of our instructors, not a brand integration, paid or otherwise. The show procured our equipment on their own, not through us.”
In response, Peloton released an ad that brings Mr. Big back to life, alongside the caption, “And just like that&#8230; he&#8217;s alive.”

In the video, Noth and King are sitting by a fire. “To new beginnings,” Noth begins, to which King responds, “To new beginnings.”
“You look great,” she said. “I feel great,” Noth replies.
“Shall we take another ride,” he asks, looking over his shoulder toward two Peloton bikes. “Life’s too short not to.”
“And just like that, the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation,” said actor Ryan Reynolds, whose advertising firm produced the video. “Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels.”
“He’s alive,” Reynolds added.
A Peloton spokeswoman said Monday the ad reinforced how cardiovascular exercise can help people lead long, healthy lives, reported <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/peloton-strikes-back-at-sex-and-the-city-reboot-with-new-ad-11639404970">The Wall Street Journal</a>.
“Reaction from our members to the video has also been overwhelmingly positive. In fact, our community is already taking to social media to tell real life stories of how Peloton and cardiovascular exercise has helped with their heart health and overall wellbeing,” the spokeswoman said.
The New York City-based company&#8217;s stock rose as much as 6% on Monday morning.

‘Shall We Take Another Ride?’ Peloton Releases Hilarious Response To ‘Sex And The City’ Reboot

With just days to go before the highly anticipated &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; sequel set to premiere, series alum Chris Noth is speaking up about a well-known controversy. The 67-year-old actor recently voiced his thoughts about the rumored feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall to make it clear he was firmly on Team Carrie.
&#8220;And Just Like That&#8221; picks up years in the future for the four best friends made famous by the HBO series. Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha (Cattrall), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) were super close on screen, but rumors of animosity between Catrall and Parker persisted. Those allegations seemed even more credible when Cattrall refused to return for the reboot.
“We’ve never been friends,” Cattrall confirmed during a 2017 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8XSAwNQ0As">interview</a> with Piers Morgan, when she confirmed she had no interest in any additional &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; projects. Of her co-star Parker specifically, Cattrall admitted, “she could have been nicer.” 
So far, Cattrall hasn’t explicitly said why she’s not reprising her role as Samantha Jones for the reboot. But co-star Noth, who played Carrie’s on-again, off-again boyfriend for most of the series, seemed to confirm the rumors during a recent interview with The Guardian.
When asked why he thought Catrall wasn’t in the series, the 66-year-old actor had a candid answer. “I have to tell you, I have absolutely no idea what her thinking is, or her emotions. I do know that I’m very close with SJ and [Cattrall’s] descriptions of her don’t even come close,” Noth explained. 
“I liked her, I thought she was marvelous in the show and some people move on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers were. I just wish that whole thing had never happened because it was sad and uncomfortable,” he continued.
In true Mr. Big fashion, Noth said he didn’t love how Parker was “a target” and “people can be nasty” to the actress, including when it came to rumors about the feud. “I feel very protective of her and I was not happy about that. That’s all I’ll say about that,” Noth concluded.
During the same interview, the actor also explained that he was reluctant to return for the series reboot, especially after the movies received such a mixed reception from fans. After Mr. Big and Carrie finally tied the knot, he wasn’t sure where the story could go or if it was worth telling. Eventually, the show’s director talked him into it. 
The three other main characters &#8212; Parker, Nixon, and Davis &#8212; will be coming back to reveal what happens to Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte in the future. The trailer was scant on plot details and didn’t indicate how writers will address Samantha’s absence. 
&#8220;And Just Like That&#8221; premieres on HBO Max beginning December 9 with the first two episodes. After that, new episodes will air Thursdays.

Of course, this break from Hollywood dogma left an opening for the ever-tolerant liberal media to swiftly move in and ridicule her. Surprise, surprise. 
&#8220;I am not a feminist,&#8221; Parker boldly told the feminist magazine. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think I qualify. I believe in women and I believe in equality, but I think there is so much that needs to be done that I don&#8217;t even want to separate it anymore. I&#8217;m so tired of separation. I just want people to be treated equally.&#8221;

In a similar tone, Parker made headlines by rejecting feminism last year, calling herself a &#8220;humanist&#8221; instead. 
Following up, the actress was asked about other women in Hollywood who are supposedly &#8220;speaking out&#8221; about so-called women&#8217;s issues (aka abortion and the mythical gender pay gap). Parker simply replied by applauding women like actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson.
&#8220;Listen, Jennifer Lawrence deserves every bit as much as her male counterpart. It&#8217;s indisputable,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Emma Watson is an amazing young woman, and it&#8217;s important for her to talk about women&#8217;s issues. She isn&#8217;t concerned about herself. Women are paying the bills, getting it done, getting the kids here and there. The more we address that, we are all going to be better.&#8221;
The actress was also asked about the phony gender pay gap&#8211;a litmus test of sorts for female Hollywood elites. The Sex and the City star half-coherently explained that she &#8220;would like all of that nonsense to end. I would like women to get paid for the value of their contributions, not by old-fashioned ideas about gender.&#8221;
In other words, Parker isn&#8217;t exactly some rare non-conforming starlet who rejects phony victimhood narratives completely, but she does understand, at least on some level, how divisive and harmful third-wave feminism is. Even still, this lukewarm rejection was met with ridicule and undermining from feminists in media. 
For example, <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/sarah-jessica-parker-declares-i-am-not-a-feminist/">The Wrap</a> explained that Parker was actually a feminist; she&#8217;s just too stupid to know she is: &#8220;One has to wonder if Parker is aware that despite saying she is not a feminist that her ideas about gender equality sound an awful lot like feminism.&#8221;

Calm down ladies, Parker is allowed to reject the feminist label, you conforming, victimhood-seeking drones.
