Five years ago a 47-year-old man from Senegal hijacked a school bus full of children just outside Milan, the business capital of Italy. He ordered the teachers and a janitor to restrain all the children with zip ties. His motive was clear: The man threatened to carry out a &#8220;massacre&#8221; to avenge all of the illegal migrants who drowned on their way to Europe. Essentially, he wanted open borders, and he was threatening to commit mass murder to get it. And he seemed intent on making good on that promise: During a 40-minute rampage, the man rammed the school bus into several cars on a highway before lighting the bus on fire. At that point, the 51 children on board managed to escape, thanks in part to the adults who didn&#8217;t actually secure the zip ties on any of the students.
This 2019 school bus hijacking changed the trajectory of Italy&#8217;s politics overnight, and you can see why. People will buy into a lot of very bad policies in the name of tolerance and acceptance and so on. But when a guy from Senegal hijacks a school bus full of children and tries to light them on fire, it&#8217;s pretty clear that a red line has been crossed. That&#8217;s an unmistakable sign that things need to change. And voters in Italy responded accordingly. It&#8217;s one of the reasons Meloni was elected prime minister in 2022, on a platform calling for a naval blockade to keep illegal migrants out of the country.
On Wednesday, this country came very close to experiencing a similar incident in the state of California, which long ago adopted European-style migration policies. On two separate occasions, groups of illegal migrants attempted to board a school bus on the highway near the Mexican border, in the Jamul-Dulzura Union School District. In the first instance, three men stood in the middle of the highway, apparently attempting to force the bus to stop. In the second instance, a group of about 20 illegal migrants were waiting on another route for another bus. It&#8217;s not clear if the same illegal aliens were involved in both of these incidents. So the plan is apparently to just leave the kids at the bus stop next time with the &#8220;migrants.&#8221; What else can you possibly do? Surely you can&#8217;t have the police round up and arrest this group of people who are in this country illegally, terrorizing children and threatening to hijack buses. That would just be unthinkable, intolerant even. So instead, the children can just fend for themselves. The school bus will get out of dodge like the last chopper out of Hanoi.

Meanwhile the sheriff&#8217;s office in San Diego says they&#8217;re investigating to determine &#8220;if a criminal act has occurred.&#8221; They&#8217;re not quite sure if standing in the middle of the road, or being in the country illegally, or threatening to hijack a school bus are really crimes. Maybe bus hijacking has been decriminalized too. They&#8217;re still looking into it.
This is one of those moments where an abstract policy debate suddenly becomes a lot less abstract. It&#8217;s one thing to talk about how &#8220;no person is illegal&#8221; and so on. But it&#8217;s quite another to tolerate something like this. And there are very clear signs that Americans, like Italians, are tired of tolerating it. Earlier this year Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/04/25/trump-biden-americans-illegal-immigration-poll" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on a poll showing that: &#8220;Half of Americans — including 42% of Democrats — say they&#8217;d support mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.&#8221; Additionally, &#8220;two-thirds of Americans said illegal immigration is a real crisis, not a politically driven media narrative.&#8221;
As more people see the unavoidable consequences of mass migration in their everyday lives, support for mass deportations is only going to increase even further. The reality of unrestricted illegal migration is that everyday events suddenly become a lot more dangerous, all over the place, to the point that the policy itself becomes untenable.
That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s not just Californians who can&#8217;t escape these consequences anymore. In Aurora Colorado, an apartment complex has reportedly been taken over by a Venezuelan street gang. Surveillance footage shows gunmen with rifles walking around with impunity. There&#8217;s trash everywhere, residents report that a bunch of illegal aliens moved in recently, and shootings are commonplace. Watch:

Several police departments in Colorado have responded to this footage. For their part, Aurora PD says they&#8217;re &#8220;aware&#8221; that &#8220;components&#8221; of this Venezuelan gang (known as T.d.A) are operating in the area. The police department also says it has been &#8220;increasingly collecting evidence to show the gang is connected to crimes in the area,&#8221; although they claim that these crimes are &#8220;isolated,&#8221; whatever that means. But here&#8217;s the most incredible part of the statement.
&#8220;The city and Aurora Police Department, as previously stated, established a special task force in collaboration with other local, state and federal partners to specifically address concerns about Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) and other criminal activity *affecting migrant communities.*”
So they say the gang is committing &#8220;criminal activity affecting migrant communities.&#8221; But obviously, it&#8217;s not just affecting the &#8220;migrant communities.&#8221; It&#8217;s affecting the millions of American citizens who pay taxes in Colorado — people the Aurora police department is supposedly sworn to protect. But they don&#8217;t even get a mention in the police department&#8217;s statement. Even when they&#8217;re talking about the takeover of an apartment building by illegal aliens, the police are still primarily concerned with the illegal aliens.

Meanwhile Denver PD released its own <a href="https://x.com/DenverPolice/status/1828902961138811317" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. They actually do mention the &#8220;residents&#8221; of their community, and not just the &#8220;migrants.&#8221; So that&#8217;s something. They also denied that an apartment was &#8220;taken over,&#8221; despite the video evidence to the contrary. That assessment would also contradict the conclusion of Aurora&#8217;s mayor, who just said on national television that multiple buildings have fallen to Venezuelan gangs, and it&#8217;s possible they were funded by the U.S.government:

This would seem like something the Denver police department should know about. But to be fair, they admitted that the Venezuelan gang is committing a lot of crimes and they&#8217;re, &#8220;learning&#8221; about.
And there&#8217;s a lot of that kind of &#8220;learning&#8221; going on right now in Colorado, one way or the other. This week for example, the residents of Colorado learned that illegal immigrants can legally drive big rigs on the road, kill American citizens while driving recklessly, and then get off with a maximum sentence of one year in prison. That&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening now in the case of Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, an illegal alien without a valid commercial driver&#8217;s license who crashed his 18-wheeler into a car being driven by Scott Miller. Allegedly the Democrat DA&#8217;s office just made an innocent little mistake here. Apparently it&#8217;s their first day on the job. They didn&#8217;t realize that by charging this illegal alien with misdemeanors and nothing else, that he could then plead guilty to those misdemeanors. And then double jeopardy kicks in, and they can&#8217;t charge him anymore. This was all supposedly totally unforeseeable to the DA. 
In order to believe that, you&#8217;d have to know nothing about the leadership of the state of Colorado, which goes out of its way to mock concerns about illegal alien crime. In response to the apartment takeover I mentioned earlier, for example, the state&#8217;s governor, Jared Polis, put out a snarky statement mocking Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky, who initially complained about the incident. Polis&#8217; office said, &#8220;the purported invasion is largely a feature of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.” (Even though it&#8217;s on tape).  He also said crime has been going down.
This is the extent of the response that voters in Left-wing states can expect when they object to the systematic destruction of their way of life. The more they complain about school bus hijackings, apartment takeovers and highway crashes, the more their leaders will laugh at them. There&#8217;s precedent for this; it&#8217;s what happened in Italy, among many other European nations. And if that precedent is any indication, it means that we are getting very close to the point at which people have had enough. And when that point comes, none of these people will be in power. They&#8217;ll be replaced with leaders who, like Meloni, will promise to end unrestricted migration. And hopefully, unlike Meloni, the people we elect will actually fulfill that promise.

More than 20 illegal immigrants in southern California attempted to board school buses on two separate occasions as the buses were on routes transporting children, school district officials said.
Two bus routes in the Jamul-Dulzura Union School District were interrupted by groups of illegal immigrants earlier this week, forcing the school district to warn parents to &#8220;stay [vigilant],&#8221; Fox 5 San Diego <a href="https://fox5sandiego.com/news/local-news/migrants-attempt-to-board-school-buses-in-east-county/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The first incident happened on Tuesday afternoon and involved three men walking in the middle of the road and trying to get the school bus filled with children to stop. Superintendent Liz Bystedt said that the bus had to &#8220;go around&#8221; the group to continue on its route.
On Wednesday, another bus stopped at a designated pick-up spot near where the bus from Tuesday was forced to drive around illegal immigrants and was met with a group of 20 illegal immigrants who attempted to board the bus. Bystedt said that parents who were at the bus stop waiting with their children ensured that the kids made it onto the bus safely and that no illegal immigrants boarded.
It is unknown if the groups are connected, the Fox report said.

The superintendent said that the district reported both bus incidents to the U.S. Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol, and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, according to Fox 5.
“The San Diego Sheriff’s Office was made aware of this incident today. We are conducting a follow up investigation to determine if a criminal act has occurred. The Sheriff’s Office takes issues regarding student safety very seriously and are working with the school district in order to keep the students and our community safe,” the sheriff&#8217;s office said in a statement.
Jamul is just 25 miles from the Mexican border city of Tijuana. The San Diego sector has been a hot spot for illegal border crossing this year, with more than 37,000 arrests made by the U.S. Border Patrol in the area in April, the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/san-diego-border-asylum-biden-mexico-da1e7b7c81e4e58912deff6d36dbdb9e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
As authorities investigate the incidents, the school district said that bus drivers will drive past any bus stops where suspected illegal immigrants are present and told parents to follow the bus to the next stop &#8220;for the safety of students and bus drivers.&#8221;

House Speaker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mike-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Johnson</a> (R-LA) visited the U.S. southern border on Thursday, calling out President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> and Vice President Kamala Harris over their handling of illegal immigration.
In a visit to the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego alongside Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Johnson specifically went after the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and called for Congress to pass new legislation to safeguard elections from non-citizen voting. San Diego has been a hot spot for unlawful crossings in recent months, with tens of thousands of migrants crossing into California. 
&#8220;This has become in many ways the epicenter of the Biden-Harris border catastrophe, and now we’re very concerned in Congress that this illegal immigrant invasion is threatening even the integrity of our elections,” Johnson <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGndM5nx3Uk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. 
He added that the “catastrophe” at the border had been “engineered” by the Biden-Harris administration. He said, “Border czar and San Francisco radical Kamala Harris bears the responsibility for this disaster.”
“And now we’ve all seen on our television screens, there’s yet another caravan of immigrants heading to the border to get in here. And of course they want to come in before the election because they believe there may be a good chance that President Trump wins that election. I certainly believe that and this won’t be tolerated any longer,” Johnson said.
The House speaker also discussed the SAVE Act, legislation that would require individuals to show proof of citizenship to register to vote in elections for federal office. 
“Kamala Harris and 198 House Democrats want to allow illegal aliens to decide American elections, and right now every non-citizen can do that, and there’s no real impediment except the honor system,” he said. “We don’t believe that is going to work.”
While the GOP-controlled House <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nearly-all-house-dems-vote-against-bill-requiring-voters-prove-citizenship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed</a> the SAVE Act earlier this month, the Democrat-controlled Senate has not taken it up. The White House also voiced opposition to the legislation. 
Johnson was joined by National Border Patrol Council Executive Vice President John Anfinsen, who said that the situation at the border was not improving.

“Instead of crossing illegally between the ports, asylum seekers, many of whom are only seeking to abuse the system, are now primarily showing up at ports of entry and airports,” he said.
Anfinsen said that U.S. customs officers had encountered more people trying to claim asylum in June than Border Patrol had. 
Harris has come under intense scrutiny for her record as vice president after Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race. Much of the criticism has focused on her handling of the border crisis after Biden gave her that responsibility.

The Biden administration has reportedly released 72% of migrants who entered the country unlawfully through the San Diego border sector despite the administration&#8217;s supposed crackdown on the border.
More than 4,900 migrants have been released out of the more than 6,800 migrants border authorities encountered in the Southern California border sector between June 5 and Tuesday, according to internal federal data <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/11/us-news/72-of-migrants-who-crossed-into-san-diego-since-crackdown-released/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> by the New York Post.
The San Diego area is one of the busiest for illegal border crossings.
The internal federal data comes just days after a Border Patrol guidance document <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/immigration/3031941/border-agents-told-release-migrants-us-biden-asylum-ban/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leaked</a> showing agents in the San Diego area were advised to release migrants from all but six of the more than 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe into the U.S. rather than deport them.
Only adult migrants from Georgia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will be immediately sent to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation, the memo said.
“It’s all smoke and mirrors,” Manny Bayon, the National Border Patrol Council President for the San Diego border sector, told the Post.
One issue is that some of these countries are reluctant to accept migrants back.
“We have to have cooperation with the countries where we’re sending them back,” Bayon said.
The leaked memo was reportedly distributed to border authorities in San Diego after President Joe Biden&#8217;s executive order ostensibly cracking down on the southern border.
Biden’s order announced last week will shut down the southern border when more than 2,500 migrants cross illegally every day for seven days in a row.
Once triggered, the order will remain in effect until two weeks after daily crossings drop to an average of 1,500 a day for seven days in a row, <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/06/us-news/jen-psaki-makes-stunning-admission-about-bidens-border-action-its-political/?utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to officials.

The president’s move comes as immigration continues to dog him in public opinion as the election cycle heats up.
Earlier this year, immigration <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/644570/immigration-named-top-problem-third-straight-month.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">surged</a> to become the top issue on voters’ minds, bumping inflation down to second place, polls showed.
In the battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, immigration ranks second in importance after only the economy, which typically dominates presidential elections, a recent poll <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/biden-trump-poll-swing-states-battleground-election-1908122" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a>.
Meanwhile, Biden has reversed many of former President Donald Trump’s border policies aimed at slowing the flow of illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, including the Remain in Mexico policy, which forced illegal migrants to stay on the Mexican side of the border while they awaited their asylum hearing.

Border Patrol released hundreds of illegal migrants into the streets of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/san-diego" target="_blank" rel="noopener">San Diego</a>, and some were given court dates on the other side of the country in places they had never heard of before.
The released illegal migrants hailed from all over the world, including Senegal, China, Ecuador, Rwanda, the Dominican Republic, Mauritania, India, and Kazakhstan. They were released because Customs and Border Protection had no places to detain them until they could have their cases heard in immigration court. Local nonprofits, which have been given millions from the San Diego government to shelter the illegal migrants, did not have the infrastructure to handle the influx. 
On Friday, The Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/border-patrol-street-releases-asylum-7ae9ff48b48e203ecdd5c099942dc1f5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke</a> with several who appeared to be unfamiliar with where they were or where they were told to show up in court. 
One 31-year-old man from Kazakhstan told the outlet that he was told to show up in immigration court in Philadelphia in August 2025, but that he didn’t know where that was because he had never heard of it. Philadelphia is about 2,700 miles away from San Diego. 
A Mauritanian man told the outlet that he took a flight from Africa to Nicaragua before flying to Mexico and crossing into the United States. Another man from the Dominican Republic asked, “Are we in San Diego?” and was told to head to Boston in June for an immigration court hearing in June. Boston is nearly 3,000 miles away from San Diego. 
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin posted video on Friday showing Chinese nationals being released in San Diego.

The five Marines aboard a helicopter that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/helicopter-with-5-u-s-marines-found-after-going-missing-search-for-crew-ongoing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went missing</a> and was later found to have crashed in California earlier this week are dead, the U.S. military said Thursday morning.
The helicopter was flying from Creech Air Force Base in Nevada to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego for a routine training exercise when it was reported as &#8220;overdue,&#8221; prompting a search and rescue operation. Authorities with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the Civil Air Patrol found the CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter while searching a snowy mountainous region on Wednesday, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/08/us/helicopter-crash-5-marines-dead.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Hours later, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing announced that all the Marines on board the helicopter were dead.
&#8220;It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the loss of five outstanding Marines from 3d Marine Aircraft Wing and the &#8216;Flying Tigers&#8217; while conducting a training flight last night,&#8221; Maj. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte said in a statement. &#8220;These pilots and crewmembers were serving a calling greater than self and were proud to do so.&#8221;

The U.S. military did not identify the five deceased Marines as policy requires their identities to remain concealed until 24 hours after all next-of-kin have been notified. As of Thursday morning, authorities were still working to recover the Marines&#8217; remains and launch an investigation into what caused the deadly crash.

Tatyana Remley was a glamorous would-be-heiress until she attempted to hire a hitman to murder her husband of 12 years, Mark Remley. Now, the beautiful but dangerous woman will spend the next three years and eight months behind bars.
When Tatyana was a young girl, her parents moved the family to Valley Center, California, a small town in San Diego County. Tatyana was in the fourth grade, but her parents didn’t enroll her in school, and for the next 10 years, allegedly kept their daughter from experiencing the world outside her home.
Her own mother, Vera, admitted to Tatyana’s troubled upbringing during a custody battle in 2009 between Tatyana and her first husband, Kenneth Woolcott.
“My husband … wanted to do home school, whatever, once we came to California,” Vera said during the battle, according to documents <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/14/tatyana-remley-was-molested-as-child-only-had-4th-grade-education-docs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reviewed</a> by the New York Post. “We had a lot of difficulties with [Tatyana’s father].”
“If I could go back, I would undo everything, and see to it that she be in school … I’m very sorry, because I believe in school,” Vera added.
In his own deposition, Woolcott, a successful lawyer and businessman, claimed that Tatyana “was kept isolated/captive on rural property in Valley Center, without school, social activities and interaction with her community” and that the religious views of her parents included “the rejection of traditional medicine and medical care professionals.”
“She also was denied access to childhood friends out of the parents’ fear any such friends would lead to discovery of her captivity,” Woolcott added. “Essentially, Tatyana was captive for about 10 years (9 – 20 years old) with little, if any, contact with the outside world, education, social interaction or structure.”
Woolcott also said he helped get Tatyana her GED so she could work, but she refused to get a job.
Woolcott was 43 when he married Tatyana, who was only 23 at the time. Tatyana gave birth to a son, but the couple divorced 11 months after their wedding. The custody battle lasted nearly a decade before a judge determined Woolcott was more fit to care for the couple’s son, the Post reported.
During that decade, Tatyana gave birth to a daughter and had several failed engagements. Her former friends <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/08/sex-crazed-tatyana-remley-targeted-rich-men-at-polo-club-sources/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Post that Tatyana sought out “rich men” who could give her a life of luxury.
She met Mark Remley in a Starbucks in March 2011 and began working together on what would become an epic failure: Valitar.

Tatyana described Valitar as “Cirque du Soleil with horses,” to a reporter in 2012, The San Diego Union-Tribune <a href="https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sdut-horse-opera-decline-fall-valitar-2013jan19-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> at the time. The show was to rival Cavalia, which included horses and acrobatics and was created by a founder of Cirque du Soleil, according to Erik Martonovich, a former Cavalia cast member hired to direct Valitar.
“They had no clue what they were doing — about anything,” he told the Union-Tribune about the Remleys. “They weren’t horse people and they weren’t show people.”
Ads for the show featured Tatyana prominently, but she had little riding experience and wasn’t really part of the actual show.
“She didn’t do any of the stunts,” Roza Tabasa, the hospitality manager for the show who saw some of its performances, told the outlet. “But in the end, when the whole cast lined up and everybody is applauding, this blonde lady comes down the center, the other cast members part for her — and there’s silence. People are thinking, ‘Who’s she? Oh, it’s the lady in the poster.’”

The Remleys seemed to throw money around haphazardly, spending lavishly on salaries and equipment but then refusing to spend $1,500 to save a horse’s life. On another occasion, Tatyana reportedly went on a shopping spree at a tack shop and purchased items the show already had.
Weeks before the show’s opening performance, the Remleys stopped sending checks to vendors and employees, the Union-Tribune reported. Martonovich was fired after a horse broke its leg during practice, but he believes other factors led to his firing.
“I’m pretty sure at that point, it was about Tatyana. She didn’t want me around because I didn’t want her,” he told the outlet.
After Martonovich was fired, about 18 of the 25 performers quit, and the show could no longer use acts that Martonovich and his production company owned. Former Cavalia performer Sylvia Zerbini was hired to completely rewrite the show – in two months.
When Valitar opened, reviews found it underwhelming when compared to Cavalia. The first weekend failed to sell out seats, and only ran for five days before filing for bankruptcy.
Mark and Tatyana, however, reconciled their marriage and remained together for another decade, continuing their passion for money, horses, drugs, and orgies, the Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/13/inside-the-twisted-marriage-of-tatyana-remley-equestrian-accused-of-murder-plot/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The couple separated and reconciled multiple times during that period, NBC San Diego <a href="https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/north-county-woman-behind-failed-horse-themed-show-sentenced-in-murder-for-hire-attempt/3391158/">reported</a>.
The final separation came in early 2023, when Tatyana filed for divorce and accused Mark of abuse, including claims that he pointed a gun at her head and chased her with a knife. She also claimed that he watched as one of his friends raped her. Mark has denied all accusations.
Tatyana also demanded $15,000 a month in spousal support to keep up her lavish lifestyle, the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12917783/equestrian-Tatyana-Remley-sentenced-hitman-husband-mark-remley.html">reported</a>.
In the summer of 2023, Mark learned that Tatyana had offered a mutual friend $2 million to murder him, the Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/06/tatyana-remley-said-she-was-raped-by-pal-of-husband-she-tried-to-kill/">reported</a>. He told police and undercover detectives conducted a sting operation to catch her in the act. She was arrested on August 2 and charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband.
In late December, Tatyana pleaded guilty to solicitation to commit murder and was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison, NBC reported.

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-navy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Navy</a> helicopter carrying six crewmembers crashed into San Diego Bay on Thursday evening during a training exercise. 
All six crewmembers, who were operating a MH-60R Seahawk helicopter, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-01-12/crew-rescued-after-navy-helicopter-crashes-into-san-diego-bay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">survived</a> and were rescued off the coast of Coronado by a nearby Navy boat after they went down at around 6:40 p.m. local time. 
&#8220;Due to the nature of the training, a safety boat was on location,&#8221; a statement from Cmdr. Beth Teach of the Naval Air Force Pacific Fleet said.  The crew members went through medical evaluation but none of them appeared to suffer any life-threatening injuries, <a href="https://abc7.com/navy-helicopter-crash-san-diego-bay-southern-california-mh-60r-seahawk/14313874/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Navy. 
The Federal Fire Department San Francisco helped with the rescue, as did a helicopter from the U.S. Coast Guard. The MH-60R Seahawk had been stationed at Naval Air Station North Island, according to Navy officials. 
The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing. 
The Navy <a href="https://www.navair.navy.mil/product/MH-60R-Seahawk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> that the MH-60R Seahawk is its “primary anti-submarine and surface warfare helicopter specially designed for all aspects of land or maritime operations from any aviation ship or air-capable vessel. The MH-60R has demonstrated unmatched multi-mission capabilities since achieving full operational capability in 2010 and has achieved the highest mission capable rates of any maritime helicopter.”
Its primary purpose is for anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, electromagnetic warfare, command and control, and non-combat operation, according to the Navy.

The helicopter crash comes just one week after a B-1 Lancer bomber <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/b-1-bomber-crash-lands-in-south-dakota-forcing-crew-to-eject" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crashed</a> in South Dakota, forcing the entire crew to eject during a training mission. 
The crash landing took place at Ellsworth Air Force Base during a training exercise. The 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth said that the accident happened while the plane was “attempting to land on the installation. At the time of the accident, it was on a training mission. There were four aircrew on board. All four ejected safely.”

U.S. border authorities dropped off 42,000 illegal immigrants on San Diego County streets between September and November of 2023, according to a <a href="https://calmatters.org/california-divide/2023/12/immigration-california-street-releases/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=ActiveCampaign&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=Migrants+to+California+released+on+San+Diego+streets&amp;utm_campaign=WhatMatters&amp;vgo_ee=1VZSjOW%2B2InkaCpN620mFqFwr9nIqJawkno14pKj6RWrMdbCVmHCnDzN%3AhnsYyqzV03FW9Q6ljLlBTeA%2FQSRB2h23" target="_blank" rel="noopener">new report</a> from Cal Matters.
The migrants have often been left at bus and trolley stops, three prominent sites for drop-off have been the Iris Transit Center San Diego; in San Ysidro, near the Port of Entry; and in Oceanside. In September, Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez said roughly 100 illegal immigrants arrived every day in Oceanside from San Clemente, where they had been processed.
In October, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors spent $3 million for migrant support services. On Tuesday, the board will vote whether to spend another $3 million for a welcome center for the immigrants.
“Illegal crossings topped a daily average of more than 8,000 last month,” AP <a href="https://apnews.com/article/biden-border-migrant-shelters-afd3a60803902eb4e1d6890785275a2c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> in mid-October.
Title 42 expired in May 2023. It had been implemented in in March 2020, permitting Border Patrol agents to reject illegal immigrants who might bring Covid-19 into the U.S. Two days before the policy expired, the Border Patrol recorded more than 10,000 arrests. Speaking of the Biden administration letting the policy expire, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/what-is-title-42-border-rules-migration-11649118539" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>, “President Biden’s transition team knew illegal border crossings had started to rise after Mr. Biden’s election, in part fueled by the widespread notion that he would be friendlier to migrants than Mr. Trump.”

After Title 42 expired, one homeowner who owns 78 acres of land on the border with Mexico roughly 75 miles east of San Diego spoke to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/13/us/migrants-san-diego-border-culver/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a>, which reported that he claimed he saw “dozens, if not hundreds, of migrants crossing onto his land each day.” Another homeowner five miles east of that saw immigrants camping out on his 17-acre property, leaving discarded clothes and trash on the land. His wife commented, “The migrants have more rights than we do.”
Commenting on the illegal immigrant influx, CNN added, “The San Diego Border Patrol Sector has reported more than 230,000 encounters during the fiscal year that ended in September – a level of activity the agency has not seen in over two decades.”

The family of a child with a rare illness is suing a children’s hospital that secretly recorded them in a failed attempt to prove abuse.
Madison Meyer, 20, grew up with a mysterious illness that was first diagnosed as a connective tissue disorder, but when treatment failed and her health continued to decline, her parents, Bill Meyer and Dana Gascay, took her to numerous doctors across the country searching for answers, KPBS <a href="https://www.kpbs.org/news/health/2023/11/07/san-diego-rady-childrens-hospital-surveilled-teen-parents-failed-attempt-abuse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The family is now suing Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California, after staff allegedly filmed the family to prove Meyer’s condition wasn’t real.
Meyer’s illness resulted in numerous broken bones, dislocated joints, and chronic pain. She had multiple surgeries to correct these issues, but her family didn’t know what was causing them.
“To say we were concerned is an understatement,” Gascay said. “Obviously, as a parent, you hate standing by and seeing your child suffer,” Gascay told KPBS.
In 2019, Meyer’s doctors transferred her to Rady Children’s Hospital so she could receive care around the clock. Her parents were by her side the entire time, cleaning and bathing her and taking turns sleeping on a bed they cobbled together in Meyer’s hospital room.
The family is suing the hospital, saying that during that time – and unbeknownst to them – staffers secretly recorded the family 24/7, searching for signs of abuse. In court documents reviewed by KPBS, hospital employees admit to the surveillance.
Meyer’s family says in their lawsuit that the hospital didn’t have a search warrant for the surveillance and didn’t catch any signs of abuse. The family is suing the hospital, San Diego County, and individual employees, arguing the family’s privacy rights were violated.
“This was just beyond a horrific violation,” Gascay told KPBS. “You feel violated and dirty, because somebody&#8217;s there watching everything that you do.”
The hospital suspected that one or both of Meyer’s parents suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, in which a parent or guardian fakes or exaggerates illnesses and injuries in their child to receive attention from medical professionals.

A San Diego County Superior Court commissioner reportedly said that the surveillance against the Meyer family was “unbelievable” and an “insensitive invasion of privacy,” according to the lawsuit.
The hospital did not comment on the specifics of the case.
“At Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, our top priority is providing the highest level of care to our patients and families,” the hospital said in a statement to the outlet. “The hospital does not comment generally on pending litigation and cannot comment specifically on this case due to patient privacy protections under federal and state law.”
San Diego County spokesman Michael Workman told KPBS that “social workers and medical professionals are required by law to report and investigate suspected child abuse.” He added that “no county employees were involved in the decision to surveil plaintiffs’ daughter’s hospital room.”
Dr. Shalon Nienow, Rady’s division director of child abuse pediatrics, said that she spoke to the county’s main child abuse investigator throughout the investigation into the alleged abuse.

Californians are complaining about barely-clothed prostitutes roaming the streets in broad daylight, an issue heightened by Democratic Gov. Newsom signing Senate Bill 357, local officials say. 
SB 357, which was authored by Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener and backed by the ACLU, decriminalizes “loitering with intent to commit prostitution.” Critics say the law effectively decriminalizes prostitution in California.
National City Mayor Ron Morrison, an independent, recently <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/nearly-naked-prostitutes-prowl-streets-broad-daylight-california-law-ties-cops-hands-mayor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">criticized</a> the law, telling Fox News that prostitutes are now “wearing less than what you would consider a scanty negligee” and “flaunting it in everybody&#8217;s face.”
Morrison also said the law, which was signed by Newsom last year, ties the hands of law enforcement, stating that the &#8220;moment&#8221; the bill was signed “everyone knew the rules were out the window.”
San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit, likewise, told The Daily Wire that the law has &#8220;made it extremely difficult&#8221; for police to get involved. 
&#8220;In the past, you know, when we were able to contact women or those involved in sex trafficking, we could use the &#8216;loitering with intent&#8217; after we watched them. Once they decriminalize that, we really don’t have an entryway into making that contact anymore,” he said during a phone interview.
“What we’re seeing now, is we have these open sex markets, 24 hours a day, 365 days out of the year,&#8221; the police chief said. 
Morrison claimed police also can&#8217;t apprehend these women for indecent exposure, since the way that law is written, if their genitals are covered, they can’t be arrested.

Video footage from the Bay Area and San Diego, in particular, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W70hQknsCM&amp;t=173s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">show</a> women walking the streets in g-strings, bras, and high heels, sometimes bending over in traffic, at all times of the day. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OjP2x9v_TI">Residents</a> have routinely <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11731621/Furious-California-residents-rage-thong-clad-prostitutes-allowed-linger-streets.html">complained</a> about the noise, the fighting, the drug use, and how it’s wildly inappropriate for such behavior to be around children. The residents who have spoken out, typically anonymously, also worry for the women selling themselves, fearing they could be sex trafficking victims. 
Chief Nisleit said the law emboldens those trafficking women, &#8220;specifically younger women,&#8221; and makes it &#8220;much harder for us to rescue those victims. Just because you decriminalize something, doesn’t mean the impact on the victim, those who are being trafficked, or on the community goes away. In fact, sometimes, like this, it increases.”
Wiener said he drafted the legislation to protect <a href="https://sd11.senate.ca.gov/news/20220620-senator-wiener%E2%80%99s-legislation-repeal-discriminatory-loitering-law-targeting-sex-workers#:~:text=The%20Coalition%20to%20Abolish%20Slavery,to%20be%20a%20sex%20worker.">“trans and black and brown women,”</a> whom he claims are harassed by police for their identity. 
“Why would we have a criminal law allowing a police officer to arrest you based exclusively on how you look, not on what you do?&#8221; Wiener <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r2fAwJUcB4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;That’s wrong, we shouldn&#8217;t have that kind of law on the books. And police have plenty of laws that deal with trafficking and they should be doing more work on addressing trafficking and less time complaining.” 
Anti-sex trafficking advocates and local leaders, including both Democrats and Republicans, are currently working to <a href="https://src.senate.ca.gov/content/california-senate-democrats-say-no-way-effort-repeal-legislation-protects-pimps-hurts-human">repeal SB357</a>, but thus far those efforts have fallen short. The law continues to have strong support from Democrats in the state Senate. In March, Senate Democrats voted against a repeal effort <a href="https://src.senate.ca.gov/sites/src.senate.ca.gov/files/SB%20100%20Roll%20Call.pdf">29 to 8</a>.

A new video shows Border Patrol releasing hundreds of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/immigration">illegal migrants</a> onto the streets of San Diego.
The three unmarked white Border Patrol buses can be seen pulled over on the side of the road as they begin releasing several hundred migrants onto the city streets across from a transit terminal, the video from Fox News shows.
Some of the migrants on the buses were from China and Pakistan, Fox News reported. The majority of the migrants were adult men, NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/border-patrol-release-dozens-of-migrants-in-california-193008197542" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
One notable exchange between a migrant and a Border Patrol agent was caught on video.
&#8220;You&#8217;re free to go on and do whatever you want,&#8221; the Border Patrol agent said.
&#8220;It&#8217;s no problem if I go to Chicago?&#8221; the migrant asked the agent.
&#8220;You can do whatever you want. You&#8217;re free,&#8221; the agent said.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reportedly <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/now/video/border-patrol-release-dozens-of-migrants-in-california-193008197542" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the migrant drop-offs are standard procedure. They are reportedly a way to relieve crowding at border crossings.

Migrant releases are also happening in Arizona south of Tucson as well.
In Sierra Vista, a Guatemalan migrant family was dropped off by Border Patrol in a Dollar Tree parking lot, leaving them confused about what to do next, Fox News reported.
The local Arizona sheriff slammed CBP for releasing the migrants onto the streets.
&#8220;People come from all over the country to smuggle here, endanger this community, the citizens, and we work united to combat that,&#8221; said Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels.
&#8220;Then to find out yesterday that CBP is doing street releases, as they call them, safe. There&#8217;s nothing safe about it,&#8221; Dannels said.
In El Paso, the Texas National Guard is using razor wire to try to keep large groups of migrants from crossing the border illegally.
The CBP estimates that there were about 230,000 migrant encounters in August, Fox News reported, which would be the highest monthly total so far this year.
In July, CBP <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-releases-july-2023-monthly-update" target="_blank" rel="noopener">encountered</a> a total of 183,503 migrants, including those who presented at ports of entry.
Meanwhile, major cities are struggling to handle tens of thousands of new migrants streaming in from the border.
New York City is trying to metabolize <a href="https://www.fox5ny.com/news/house-democrats-migrant-crisis-tour-interrupted-by-protesters-outside-roosevelt-hotel#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">more than</a> 113,000 migrants who have shown up in the city since last spring, nearly 60,000 of whom are still being housed on the city&#8217;s dime.
The city has already <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-city-migrant-crisis-approaches-breaking-point-with-disorderly-migrants-shelter-space" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spent</a> more than $1.2 billion on the migrants and is projected to spend up to $5 billion.
“This issue will destroy New York City,” Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, <a href="https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2023/09/11/esuh-s11.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> this month. “We’re getting 10,000 migrants a month. … Every community in this city is going to be impacted.”
Chicago has <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/us/politics/gop-migrants-blue-cities.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seen</a> an influx of about 13,500 migrants recently. The country’s third-largest city has already <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-mayor-facing-pushback-from-city-council-members-over-migrant-tent-plan">spent</a> at least $250 million on the issue.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is facing pushback from members of the city council over his plan to house <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/immigration">migrants</a> in tents across the city.
The situation has sparked tension between Democratic governors and mayors and the Biden administration, with local leaders pleading for more federal help with the migrant crisis.
