Vice President Kamala Harris underwent an obvious vocal metamorphosis over the course of just a few days, taking a very different tone when she addressed a rally crowd in Atlanta, Georgia, than she had when speaking to the drag queens on &#8220;RuPaul&#8217;s Drag Race.&#8221;
When speaking with the drag queens in Los Angeles on the day she officially kicked off her presidential campaign, Harris&#8217; tone was crisp and clear — but by the time she took the stage at her Atlanta rally on Tuesday, the de facto Democratic nominee had adopted a slow drawl.
Conservative communications pro Greg Price shared side-by-side videos that showed just how dramatic the change had been, adding the caption, &#8220;Here is Kamala Harris, who was born in California to Jamaican and Indian college professors, talking to drag queens in Los Angeles a week ago vs. black people in Atlanta tonight. Vice President Kamala Harris made a get-out-the-vote pitch on the final episode of the ninth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” set to air on Friday night.
Harris emerged as the Democrat&#8217;s presumptive nominee earlier this week when Biden ended his bid for re-election and endorsed her. Biden had faced weeks of backlash and pressure to drop out of the race following the first presidential debate in which he appeared feeble and, at times, incomprehensible.
“Hi, everyone. It’s Kamala Harris. Each day we are seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love, openly and with pride,” Harris says during her appearance on RuPaul. “So, as we fight back against these attacks, let’s all remember — no one is alone. We are all in this together. And your vote is your power.”

The RuPaul clip was teased on Thursday and featured Harris flanked by show judges Michelle Visage and Jamal Sims, singer Lance Bass, actress Leslie Jones, and actor Cheyenne Jackson.
The clip ends with Jones exclaiming, “You better vote!”
Harris is the latest in a string of Democrats to visit the set of RuPaul. Other prominent Democratic politicians who appeared on the drag show television series are Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California. Harris is the first sitting vice president or presidential candidate to appear on the show, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/25/us-news/kamala-harris-drag-race-cameo-draws-mixed-reviews-this-might-have-broken-the-cringe-o-meter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>.
Biden announced via social media on Sunday that he was ending his bid for re-election just weeks away from the Democratic National Convention, releasing the delegates pledged to vote for him at the convention. Biden endorsed Harris to become the Democratic candidate for president, though Biden’s delegates are under no obligation to honor his endorsement.
However, Harris appears to have secured enough delegates to ensure her ascension to the nomination. According to her campaign, she also <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2024/07/kamala-harris-drives-record-fundraising-after-biden-exit/">raised</a> more than $100 million within 36 hours of Biden dropping out of the race.

An online <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/books">bookstore</a> that advertised itself as being committed to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/free-speech">sharing ideas</a>, even those which are deemed controversial, has removed titles from conservative authors amid backlash.
Television host and activist RuPaul is a co-founder of the “all-inclusive” online bookstore Allstora, according to <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/rupauls-all-inclusive-anti-censorship-book-store-immediately-removes-right-wing-titles/">National Review</a>. He started the online store with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbtq">LGBTQ</a> advocate and author Eric Cervini and drag performer Adam Powell.
The site advertised that they would carry titles from authors of all points of view, and books for sale on the site initially ranged from Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” to the graphic, controversial coming-of-age book “Gender Queer.”
“We’re a marketplace for all books and all stories, with a focus on elevating marginalized voices,” the site originally touted, according to NR. “You may find books you disagree with,” a pop up ad warned, while the FAQ page said, “Allstora has made the decision to carry all books” and “censorship of any book, perspective, or story is incompatible with the survival of democracy.”
“Banning books is never the answer,” the site&#8217;s messaging, which has since been deleted, said, according to <a href="https://www.themarysue.com/rupauls-online-bookstore-controversy-explained/">The Mary Sue</a>. “We cannot fight the ideologies of hate if we lack the ability to study, understand, and react to them. We do that by reading books.”
However, left-wing activists were outraged that Allstora offered titles by Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Matt Walsh, Riley Gaines, and Libs of TikTok founder Chaya Raichik, among others. At first, the website&#8217;s founders attempted to diffuse tension by promising to create “a community-led flagging system for titles that are contrary to our core values” and subsequently “donating all proceeds from these titles to fight book bans,” National Review noted.
But that wasn’t enough. After three days of critics railing against Allstora for selling “homophobic,” “transphobic,” “anti-woke,” and “Nazi” books, the founders relented and removed all free speech messaging from the page, according to National Review. Many works by conservative authors were removed from the page, while some other titles remained available.
The drama comes on the heels of RuPaul announcing a “Rainbow Book Bus” that seeks to distribute “diverse books to communities facing book bans and censorship, especially in LGBTQ+ communities.” The bus will embark on a cross country tour later this year, the “Drag Race” host told <a href="https://people.com/rupaul-launches-new-online-book-marketplace-and-book-club-8603704">People</a> during an interview this month.

&#8220;The View&#8221; co-host Sara Haines said she thinks &#8220;everyone belongs at a drag show&#8221; while speaking with drag queen RuPaul.
During the <a href="https://x.com/NickFondacaro/status/1765059783923560557?s=20">ABC talk show</a> on Tuesday, Haines asked RuPaul Charles about legislation in multiple states targeting drag performances, like in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-district-attorney-blocked-from-enforcing-state-law-shielding-kids-from-explicit-performances">Tennessee</a>, that outlaws adult cabaret male or female impersonators from performing &#8220;nudity, sexual excitement, sexual conduct, excess violence or sadomasochistic abuse&#8221; on public property.
Throughout the segment, none of the co-hosts said the bans are intended to protect children, and such performances could still occur in age-restricted venues under the law.

Grammy-winning singer Lizzo protested a new Tennessee law intended to protect children from sexually explicit “adult cabaret” performances, otherwise known as drag shows, by featuring a group of drag queens on stage at her all-ages Knoxville concert on Friday.
During her performance at the Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena, which kicked off the second leg of The Special 2our last weekend, Lizzo featured several performers who were alumni of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, including Aquaria, Vanessa Vanjie, Asia O’Hara, Kandy Muse.
“In light of recent and tragic events and current events, I was told by people on the internet, ‘Cancel your shows in Tennessee,’ ‘Don’t go to Tennessee,’” Lizzo <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CrU0CndvWV1/">said</a> during her performance, which kicked off her second leg of The Special 2our tour on Friday in Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena. “Their reason was valid, but why would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most?”
Lizzo’s beef with the law comes after the Tennessee General Assembly voted this year to protect children from sexually explicit performances, which bans adults from impersonating the opposite sex in public or near where children could see it while appealing to prurient interests — that is, engaging in a sexually suggestive performance.
“Why would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences?” Lizzo <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CrWHQziuqMc/">said</a>.
“What people in Tennessee are doing is giving hope, so thank you so much for standing up for your rights, protecting each other, and holding the people accountable who should be protecting us.”
In the last year, footage has emerged from around the country, including in Texas, that has appeared to show children present at sexually explicit drag shows, prompting some lawmakers to introduce legislation.
Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin) told The Daily Wire that he would introduce a law to protect children from “sexually explicit” performances last year. 
“I think we would all agree that some of the video we have seen recently of some of these drag shows that were quote-unquote family-friendly were anything but that,” Johnson said. “And if I had attended one of those with my kids, I would have been mortified, and I would have wanted someone to be prosecuted for engaging in that kind of entertainment in front of my kids.” 
The law came before Parker after Friends of George’s, a self-described “LGBTQ theatre company” based in Memphis, filed a suit challenging the law. Several upcoming shows by the company include “Drag Rocks” and “The Dragnificent Variety Show: The Gay Ole Opry.”
Following the state’s Republican Gov. Bill Lee signing the legislation into law, a federal judge in Tennessee issued a temporary injunction against the law, saying it was too vague and a potential violation of the First Amendment.
Democrat Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy told The Associated Press that he does not mind that the judge placed an injunction on the law. 
“There has been much concern and confusion about the law from the community,” he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/judge-blocks-tennessee-law-protecting-children-from-viewing-sexually-explicit-performances">said</a>. “This will allow the court to clarify the scope, application, and constitutionality of the statute. It’s important to understand the scope of this law so that it doesn’t have a harmful effect on constitutionally protected expression.”

A GOP-backed law in Tennessee would ban drag queen performances for children and in public spaces where they could be viewed by minors. The law was set to take effect at the beginning of April but has been temporarily <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/judge-halts-tennessees-drag-ban-law-rcna77743" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blocked</a> by a federal judge.

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh slammed the popular toy company Build-A-Bear on Thursday after it added a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drag-queen">drag queen-</a>inspired teddy bear to its lineup.
The Missouri-based retailer is a big hit with kids around the nation. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/children">Children</a> visit Build-A-Bear store locations to customize stuffed animals tailored to their preferences, providing a one-of-a-kind experience. But this new teddy bear is not appropriate for young people.
RuPaul, a 62-year-old celebrity drag queen, announced a collaboration with the retailer Wednesday in an Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CqYZJXNpymz/">video</a>. The “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rupauls-drag-race">Drag Race</a>” host unboxed a “gorgeous” pre-stuffed brown bear clothed in a gold one-shoulder gown. The bear also has gold eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, red lipstick, and a blonde wig, plus high heels which can be purchased separately.
“I feel like a proud parent,” RuPaul said in the video. 
The new RuPaul doll is featured in a section of the Build-A-Bear website called The Bear Cave, which is “filled with unexpected collabs and unique plush gifts, intended for shoppers 18 and older.” But the doll is being promoted on the website’s landing page, which is accessible to children.
“Cover BEAR! Put the fur in your walk. Head to paw, let your whole body talk,” the RuPaul Bear product description says, referencing many “Drag Race” phrases.
“She done already done had herses — and now you can have yourses with your very own RuPaul Bear! Two iconic pop culture institutions join forces for this one-of-a-kind collector’s item made in tribute to the world’s most famous drag queen,” it says.

Maren Morris just made an apology to &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lgbtq">LGBTQ+</a> members&#8221; on behalf of the entire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/country-music">country music</a> genre.
The 32-year-old singer became emotional during an appearance on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">after-show</a>, “Untucked.”
“Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry,” Morris said in a video clip posted to the show’s Instagram page. “I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me.”
Morris told the gathered group of drag performers that she was “going to cry” after expressing her feelings. Contestant Isabelle Brooks added, “Just you being here shows you’re an ally.”
Drag performer Spice chimed in, “I love hearing Maren share her story because a lot of times with country artists, they can’t really express their more progressive ideals. Just her being here shows she’s down to roll with the LGBT.”

Recently, the “Chasing After You” singer got into a public spat with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, over transgender policies, especially regarding the transition of minors. 
“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase,” Brittany captioned her post. “I love this girly life.”
Morris called Brittany an “Insurrection Barbie” and told her to “not be a scumbag human” in reply to the post, setting off a back-and-forth that involved several other celebrities. 
The singer <a href="https://people.com/country/cmas-2022-maren-morris-skips-cmas-despite-nomination/">skipped</a> the 2022 Country Music Awards red carpet in November because she wasn’t “comfortable” attending. 
“I think there are people in country music that want it to be niche,” Morris <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/liberal-country-star-says-shes-not-comfortable-going-to-cma-awards-after-attacking-brittany-aldean-over-trans-post">explained</a> of her dilemma. “They don’t want it to expand. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Kids and parents filled one of America’s oldest continuously operating children’s theatres last weekend for a professional performance of the classic “The Wizard of Oz” — only this showing of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-im-saving-the-childrens-book-genre" target="_blank" rel="noopener">children’s fantasy</a> contained a spin: a man in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drag-queen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drag</a>.
As play-goers waited patiently for the performance to start, young children voiced their excitement, especially about seeing the Wicked Witch of the West on stage.
 “I heard she flies on a broom,” one girl excitedly told her mother moments before the play began.
To the audience’s delight, the Wicked Witch soon appeared on stage, dressed in green with a broom in hand, but this Wicked Witch wasn’t the conventional character seen in the beloved children’s story. At the Nashville Children’s Theatre (NCT), the Wicked Witch was played by a drag-obsessed male actor in a dress, and some parents were not entertained.
“I never once ever thought, ‘You know what, maybe I should prescreen this play before I take my children to a children’s theatre,’” Kelley Judd, a Nashville-area homeschool mom, told The Daily Wire after she attended a previous showing of NCT’s “The Wizard of Oz.”
Judd explained that the children around her in the audience, including her daughter, reacted immediately after actor James Rudolph appeared on stage for the first time. “That’s a man! That’s a man!” they shouted.

Executive Artistic Director Ernie Nolan — an award-winning playwright, director, and choreographer — cast James Rudolph as the Wicked Witch for the play geared toward elementary school audiences, telling The Daily Wire that Rudolph was the best fit for the role.
“We cast what we felt was the best actor in a role for our play. We had someone who we thought could do a fantastic job, he’s a fantastic actor, and we cast an actor in a role,” Nolan said.
Rudolph wore a form-fitting green dress, stilettos, and matching lipstick throughout the play, and some parents were appalled at what they saw as a push to normalize drag at a children’s theatre.
Nolan pushed back on any suspicions that NCT had a political agenda in its “Wizard of Oz” performance. He referenced British pantomime, ballet, and opera that “are presented to young people that use gender-blind casting.”
“We made our decision based on theatrical tradition and theatricality for the world that we had. That’s really what we were focused on at the time we were creating our play,” Nolan added.
Rudolph has been a professional performer for 15 years, according to his bio on the NCT <a href="https://www.nashvillechildrenstheatre.org/teaching-artists-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> complete with “he/him” pronouns next to his name. The actor is also a teaching artist at NCT, helping young children explore acting at the theatre’s drama school that offers in-person day-long camps throughout the year. 
But what’s not advertised under Rudolph’s bio on NCT’s website is that he also hosts a profanity-laced podcast called “Gettin’ 2 The Drag,” a “drag queen read-view show” that Rudolph and two other hosts dedicate to analyzing “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The <a href="https://anchor.fm/gt2drag" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description</a> for the show’s latest episode reads, “60&#8217;s girl group challenge got us feeling supreme. Join the gang as they review RuPaul&#8217;s Drag Race, Season 14, Episode 8!”
The play&#8217;s director informed The Daily Wire that Rudolph hosting a drag queen podcast “didn’t have any influence” over his decision to cast Rudolph as the Wicked Witch. But casting a man in a dress isn’t the only way NCT has pushed boundaries on gender and sexuality.
A quick read through NCT’s drama school <a href="https://www.nashvillechildrenstheatre.org/nct-drama-school">web page</a> reveals that the children’s theatre has fully bought into radical gender theory. NCT dedicates over 600 words on its website to “LGBTQ+ Support,” which states that “Students are allowed to use the bathroom that best matches their gender identity.”
NCT also says students may change their preferred pronouns or name during class sessions, and the theatre promises not to inform parents if their child uses a different gender identity if the parents don’t know or approve of their child making that decision.
“[I]f a student confides in us that they are not ‘out’ at home, we will protect a student’s confidentiality and use the names and pronouns that were listed on the student’s registration when communicating to grown-ups, but use the preferred names and pronouns during class/camp,” the <a href="https://www.nashvillechildrenstheatre.org/nct-drama-school" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> states.
The performance was one of many showings of Dorothy and her fun-loving dog Toto running from November 17 through December 23 at the downtown Nashville theatre that has been in operation since 1931. Judd, who attended the play with a group called the Nashville Homeschool Calendar, praised the theatre for its past showings of classic plays for children that the homeschool group always looked forward to.
Nashville Homeschool Calendar leader Jennifer Chavez organizes the group’s field trips, and she also had high praise for the theatre’s past plays, but after hearing from parents like Judd who attended the performance, Chavez had other thoughts on NCT.
“Nashville Children’s Theatre is a location we have been going to for 10-plus years,” Chavez told The Daily Wire. “Over the last several years, they’ve started to get a little more liberal, but not to the extent of what happened at ‘The Wizard of Oz.’”
Chavez added that she’s heartbroken that NCT appears to be moving in a direction that normalizes radical gender theory, even in plays aimed at young children. The Nashville Homeschool Calendar planned on attending two more shows in the spring of 2023, but the group pulled their tickets after attending “The Wizard of Oz.”
“It’s very sad because for so long we couldn’t go with COVID, and it’s always been just a really well-loved fun location. They’ve done really great shows. Most of the time, they’re literature-based, and they’re just good, clean, and pure shows for our youth, and as time goes on, those things just seem to be harder and harder to find,” Chavez remarked.
The Nashville Homeschool Calendar said it will not be sending groups to the theatre after attending “The Wizard of Oz.” Judd said she called the theatre after seeing the performance and voiced her concerns, but she was disappointed with NCT’s response.
“I felt like my opinion was falling on deaf ears because they didn’t care,” she commented. “It was almost as if [they said] ‘haha got you.’ That’s how I felt.”

“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rupauls-drag-race">RuPaul’s Drag Race</a>” is one of the most well-known, long-running <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">reality shows</a> in the history of the genre, and producers Randy Barbato And Fenton Bailey have some thoughts about why that is, giving credit to “Drag Race” for pulling <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drag-queen">drag queens</a> into the mainstream and appealing to “families, kids, grandparents.”
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">series</a> features a revolving cast of drag queens competing for the approval of the eponymous host. “Drag Race” received 11 Emmy nominations this year, putting it in the running to become the fifth most Emmy-winning TV show in history. 
It’s been on television for 14 seasons and spurred multiple spinoffs in that time. 
Bailey delved into the popularity of “Drag Race&#8221; with <a href="https://deadline.com/2022/08/rupauls-drag-race-randy-barbato-fenton-bailey-interview-emmys-1235093528/">Deadline</a>, boasting it comes at an “important time” in history. Conversations are heating up over the morality of drag shows, especially for young audiences, as drag becomes mainstream and gets promoted at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ny-library-hosts-events-for-young-teens-to-learn-the-art-of-drag">local libraries</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/desantis-makes-move-against-florida-bar-that-held-sexually-explicit-drag-shows-with-kids">restaurants</a>, and even <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/four-colorado-elementary-schools-dei-groups-teamed-up-to-promote-drag-queen-story-hour">public schools</a>.
“We are seeing an attempt to turn the clock back to stereotypical values,” Bailey says. “To a time when women weren’t empowered, when there wasn’t marriage equality — there’s been a huge sort of retrenchment. And this show is the antithesis of that, because the message of ‘Drag Race’ is: ‘Don’t be afraid to be yourself, be who you are.’”
The producer points out that even in Catholic-majority countries such as Italy and the Philippines, “Drag Race” is popular. He says it’s “a counterbalance to conservatism, bigotry, and homophobia, and all those other unpleasant things that make everyone’s life so unpleasant.”
Bailey goes on to claim that “drag is universal” and that while some consider it niche, he believes that everyone is participating in drag simply by getting dressed in any clothing. 
“In the past, people thought, ‘Oh, drag is great, but drag’s for the margins, drag’s a downtown thing.’ But, really, you’re born naked and the rest is drag,” he insists. “Everything you put on is some kind of statement of identity about yourself. It’s like kids in the attic playing dress-up. It’s as old as time and everybody’s done it.”
The “Drag Race” producer goes on to say drag is for everyone, including children. 
“‘Drag Race’ isn’t what I think it was originally perceived to be, which is a niche LGBTQ+ show. It isn’t. And that’s I think the secret of the success,” he says. 
“Because I don’t know if you’ve ever been to RuPaul’s DragCon, but you’ll see from the people there it’s not just LGBTQ+. I mean, obviously we’re queer and that’s our core being, but at DragCon you get families, kids, grandparents — it’s multi-generational and fun.”
Barbato agrees, saying “Drag Race” is “about love and self-expression and openness.” 
“It’s like we’re on a mission. &#8230; It does feel like we’re answering to a higher drag being,” he says.
Many critics are becoming concerned about the mainstream nature of drag culture, especially as it’s being marketed to children. They point out how the overly-sexualized performances are not appropriate for kids, especially as now some are being encouraged to participate.

Bryan Watkins, a former contestant on the reality show “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rupauls-drag-race">RuPaul’s Drag Race</a>” and current performer in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/las-vegas">Las Vegas</a>, is defending himself over a viral video clip that allegedly shows him stealing money from a woman’s purse.
The incident occurred at a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drag-queen">Drag Brunch</a> event in Vegas where Watkins performs under the identity of “Shannel,” TMZ <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/08/18/rupaul-drag-race-queen-denies-stealing-money-vegas-guest/">reported</a>. A <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@meggymomma/video/7132259564904254763">TikTok clip</a> showing the reality star reaching into a woman’s purse as part of a gag during the show has more than four million views as of Thursday, especially after the woman claimed Watkins pocketed her money without permission.
The publication says they spoke with Watkins and he claims he only took several dollars as a joke. But the alleged theft victim tells a different story. 
Megan Gerber said she had over $1,000 in her bag since she was there celebrating her birthday and accused the performer of taking out $700. The video does not make it clear how much money was actually taken.

Gerber shared details of what happened in a series of TikTok videos. Over the weekend, Gerber was at the Mexican-themed bar and grill franchise Señor Frogs, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/drag-performer-accused-stealing-700-audience-members-purse-rcna43618">NBC News</a>. Gerber claims that after the incident, Watkins asked her from the stage why she looked so upset. Gerber publicly accused Watkins of stealing her money, to which Watkins allegedly replied, “B****, please, I took a dollar.” 
“There were tables next to us that saw him take the wad of cash out of my wallet, and nobody told him he could go into my purse,” Gerber explains in one of the videos. She says she sought out the venue manager and later reported what happened to local authorities. 
Watkins alleges that the venue manager paid Gerber $700 cash in a good faith payment plus refunded her cost of admission, per TMZ.
Las Vegas police confirmed in an email to NBC News that they had received Gerber’s larceny report. A spokesperson said the case “will be turned over to that bureau or detective to do a followup or investigation.” 
Watkins posted an 11-minute Instagram <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/ChW-8pBFn5H/?hl=en">video</a> defending himself and further explaining the incident. The post, titled “In My Words,” includes the drag performer apologizing to Gerber and detailing how the whole thing was supposed to be a joke. 
While many commenters expressed their support, they also agreed that touching Gerber’s purse was a huge mistake.
“It’s common sense to not go into anyone [sic] personal belongings wether [sic] it’s a joke or not. That simple. I love and support drag queens but definitely feel some feel that they can get with things people normal can’t just because they’re a performer,” one follower shared.

A drag and Pride event in Austin, Texas at which drag queens strutted their stuff before a crowd that reportedly included scores of children was partially sponsored by a Catholic health ministry.
“Rainbow on the Creek is a free family-friendly celebration that connects, educates, and celebrates Austin’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQIA+) community,” the event <a href="https://waterloogreenway.org/rainbow-on-the-creek/">announcement</a> on the website boasted.
“The celebration will include 25+ activations by LGBTQIA+ nonprofits and partners, a Queer BIPOC and Latinx artisan &amp; craft market, gender-affirming care &amp; sexual health resources, and many more activities for the whole family,” the website added.
The event was sponsored by many <a href="https://stayhappening.com/e/rainbow-on-the-creek-%E2%80%94-free-family-friendly-pride-celebration-at-waterloo-park-E2ISUKTTVK9">organizations</a>, including Ascension Seton, a medical center in Austin that is a part of Ascension, a <a href="https://ascension.org/Our-Mission?_ga=2.67198550.635889550.1655221301-232102286.1655221301">Catholic health ministry</a>.

“Fostering a more inclusive culture and advocating for social justice can help provide more equitable employment opportunities while also helping to remedy healthcare disparities perpetuated by racism and systemic injustice,” the website declares.
“We have a shared responsibility and accountability, as individuals and as a ministry, to lead and model the changes we wish to see in our communities of valuing inclusion, justice and equity for all,” Ascension President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Impicciche <a href="https://www.ascension.org/Our-Mission/Diversity-and-Inclusion?_ga=2.227111069.1277243785.1655217701-1919750533.1655217701">stated</a>.

“Performers at the event June 11 included multiple drag queens, including ‘Pelvis Wrestley’ and ‘Roxxxy Andrews of RuPaul’s Drag Race’ as a featured performer, according to the event page,” <a href="https://pluralist.com/rainbow-on-the-creek-pride-event-hosts-family-friendly-drag-show-says-its-sponsored-by-google/">Pluralist</a> reported. “While children were watching, the participants performed suggestive dancing moves. Other parts of the event included the Austin Drag Queen Showcase, ‘Hosted by Vylette Ward &amp; Jezebel’ and Drag Queen Storytime, ‘Presented in partnership with Austin Public Library.’”
After a drag show was held at Jesuit university in Philadelphia in late April,  Dr. Denise Donohue, Vice President for Educator Resources at the Cardinal Newman Society condemned the event, telling the <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251084/catholic-education-expert-decries-drag-show-at-saint-josephs-university">Catholic News Agency</a>:
