The Justice Department has reportedly agreed to pay President Donald Trump’s former National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn, roughly $1.2 million to settle a lawsuit over his prosecution during the Russia collusion investigation. 
The settlement, <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.flmd.411523/gov.uscourts.flmd.411523.72.0.pdf">announced</a> Wednesday, resolves a malicious prosecution case Flynn filed in Florida against the DOJ. Flynn argued that FBI agents entrapped him during the investigation, which found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 presidential election. 
“Today, after ten years of fighting, I have reached a settlement agreement with the United States Government in my case regarding the Russian Hoax FBI lawfare against me,” Flynn said in a statement. “Nothing can fully compensate for the hell that my family and I have endured over these many years — the relentless attacks, the destruction of reputations, the financial ruin, and the profound personal toll inflicted upon us all. No amount of money or formal resolution can erase the pain caused by a prosecution that should never have been brought.”
A Justice Department spokesman called the settlement an &#8220;important step in redressing&#8221; the &#8220;historic injustice.&#8221; 
&#8220;This Department of Justice will continue to pursue accountability at all levels for this wrongdoing. Such weaponization of the federal government must never be allowed to happen again,” the spokesman said. 
The DOJ did not disclose the exact settlement amount. The New York Times reported it at $1.25 million, while the Associated Press reported it as $1.2 million.
Flynn was charged during Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to FBI agents about a phone call with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. He later sought to withdraw his plea, arguing he had been misled by federal agents. Trump pardoned Flynn in November 2020.
Flynn&#8217;s attorney, Jesse Binnall, said the agreement reflects acknowledgment that his client &#8220;was seriously wronged.&#8221;
“General Flynn is an American hero and he and his family should have never been put through this hell,” said Binnall. “That they had the courage to stand firm and fight back against the extremists in the Mueller investigation should be a testament to the strength of American character.”

Navarro responded on Monday&#8217;s broadcast to Trump&#8217;s message on Truth Social, where he had posted, &#8220;Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!&#8221; She argued that others would certainly celebrate Trump&#8217;s death in the same fashion — and warned that it was likely to happen sooner than later.
&#8220;This is the same thing he did with John McCain after he died, this is the same thing he did with Rob Reiner. This is who he is because he is a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control,&#8221; Navarro began, adding, &#8220;But let me just say this, karma never forgets an address and he is 80 years old, he&#8217;s got obvious visible physical ailments, and there will be people that when he passes away — as we will all pass away — [who] will write these type of things and celebrate. President Donald Trump took no time taking shots at Robert Mueller, who died at the age of 81, his family announced on Saturday.
“With deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away last night. His family asks that their privacy be respected,” the family said in a statement. Mueller had reportedly been suffering from Parkinson’s disease, though an official cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
But within minutes of the announcement, attention shifted from Mueller to President Trump’s reaction.
In a blunt post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

He later built a reputation as a steady institutional figure, ultimately being tapped by George W. Bush to lead the FBI just days before the September 11 attacks. Over a 12-year tenure, Mueller reshaped the bureau’s priorities toward counterterrorism and intelligence gathering in the wake of 9/11, serving under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
Mueller returned to public life as special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election—an inquiry that would define his public legacy and fuel years of political division.
His 448-page report, released in April 2019, detailed numerous contacts between individuals tied to the Trump campaign and Russian actors, but did not allege a criminal conspiracy.
At the same time, the report outlined episodes in which Trump sought to influence or curtail the investigation, including efforts to assert control over it. Mueller ultimately declined to make a prosecutorial judgment on obstruction of justice, citing longstanding Department of Justice guidance against indicting a sitting president. Trump has maintained that the investigation fully exonerated him, a claim that remained a point of contention long after the report’s release.
Mueller’s death, and the immediate reaction to it, underscored the extent to which his legacy remains deeply polarizing. For many Trump allies, he remains tied to an investigation they view as politically motivated and unfairly damaging. Former FBI director Robert Mueller, whose investigation into President Donald Trump&#8217;s first presidential campaign made him a Democratic hero, is dead at 81.
As special counsel, Mueller led the probe into whether there was Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The investigation, which took place during Trump&#8217;s first term, earned Mueller praise from Trump&#8217;s enemies, and scorn from the president.

While Trump was critical, others lauded Mueller’s career.
“Robert Mueller devoted his life to service — from the Marine Corps to leading the FBI and serving as Special Counsel,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) posted to X.
“He believed deeply in the rule of law and the responsibility to uphold it. His legacy is one of integrity, duty, and strength of character. My thoughts are with his family,” he added.
Mueller had Parkinson’s disease, the New York Times reported in August.
He served as the head of the FBI during under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama from 2001-2013.
Before his decades in federal law enforcement, Mueller served as a Marine Corps officer during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for valor and a Purple Heart after being wounded in combat.
His background helped shape his reputation in Washington as an apolitical institutionalist, a figure trusted by leaders in both parties.
Appointed FBI director by George W. Bush just one week before the September 11 attacks, Mueller oversaw the bureau’s transformation into a counterterrorism-focused agency during one of the most consequential periods in its history.
Mueller returned to the spotlight years later as special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, a probe that would define his public legacy. While the investigation concluded in 2019 that Russia had interfered in the election, it did not establish a criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Moscow. Still, the probe fueled years of political conflict.
Trump repeatedly blasted Mueller throughout and after the investigation, calling the probe a “witch hunt” and accusing the special counsel’s team of bias. Even after the report’s release, tensions lingered, with Trump and his allies arguing the investigation had unfairly damaged his presidency, while critics maintained Mueller’s findings raised serious concerns about conduct and obstruction.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will begin handing over documents regarding deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to Congress by the end of the week, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced on Monday.
Comer shared the development one day before the deadline listed in the <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/2025.08.05-Subpoena-and-Schedule-to-DOJ.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">subpoena</a> he issued to the DOJ.
“Officials with the Department of Justice have informed us that the Department will begin to provide Epstein-related records to the Oversight Committee this week on Friday,&#8221; Comer said in a statement.
&#8220;There are many records in DOJ’s custody, and it will take the Department time to produce all the records and ensure the identification of victims and any child sexual abuse material are redacted,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I appreciate the Trump Administration’s commitment to transparency and efforts to provide the American people with information about this matter.&#8221;
A spokesperson for the DOJ declined to comment.
Comer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congress-subpoenas-clintons-doj-records-and-former-officials-in-sweeping-epstein-investigation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">subpoenaed</a> the DOJ on August 5, the same day he issued subpoenas demanding Epstein-related testimony from former President Bill Clinton, his wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several ex-law enforcement leaders on dates ranging from mid-August to mid-October.

The Oversight Committee also issued a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-subpoenas-epstein-associate-ghislaine-maxwell">subpoena</a> to Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-20-years-prison-conspiring-jeffrey-epstein-sexually-abuse">a 20-year prison sentence</a> after being found guilty of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls, but has yet to finalize details for a deposition after she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ghislaine-maxwell-sends-congress-list-of-demands-for-deposition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded</a> immunity and other &#8220;conditions.&#8221;
All of the subpoenas were approved by members of the Oversight Committee before Comer sent them out.
Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender, was found dead at the age of 66 in his New York City jail cell in 2019 — after being arrested on sex trafficking charges involving young girls. In addition to the Clintons, Epstein had connections to a variety of high-profile people, including President Donald Trump. The Clintons and Trump have sought to distance themselves from Epstein over the years.
In his <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/2025.08.05-Subpoena-Cover-Letters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cover letters</a>, Comer explained how the Clinton family &#8220;appears to have had a close relationship&#8221; with Epstein and Maxwell. To the former law enforcement heads, the chairman noted the various ways the FBI and DOJ were involved in investigations, litigation, and other matters related to Epstein and Maxwell during their tenures.
The first deposition took place on Monday with former Attorney General William Barr, who was cooperative while answering questions from both Republican and Democratic staff and members, a source familiar with the matter told The Daily Wire.
Barr made clear that Trump never provided any views or instructions related to the criminal case against Epstein or his death, and that he never saw any evidence suggesting Trump committed a crime, according to the source, who added that Barr further stated that he believed the Biden DOJ would have released any incriminating evidence against Trump if such evidence existed.
The Daily Wire confirmed with a House Oversight Committee aide that the panel intends to withdraw its subpoena to former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who also served as special counsel of the Trump-Russia investigation from 2017 to 2019, because it learned that health issues preclude him from being able to testify. The Daily Caller was the first to <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2025/08/18/robert-mueller-house-oversight-committee-subpoena-james-comer-jeffrey-epstein-fbi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> the development.
Lawmakers have increasingly pushed for transparency after the DOJ claimed it had no evidence that Epstein had a client list, blackmailed powerful people, or was murdered — despite earlier <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shes-great-trump-backs-bondi-wants-top-officials-to-end-conflict-over-epstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hints</a> from Attorney General Pam Bondi that major bombshells would be revealed.
At the behest of Trump, who has argued that people are falling for a “hoax” spun by the Democrats, Bondi asked multiple judges to unseal grand jury testimony from the cases against Epstein and Maxwell. So far, those requests have been denied.
The DOJ held a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-meets-with-ghislaine-maxwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meeting</a> with Maxwell in July.

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz warned during an interview over the weekend that the federal indictment against former President Donald Trump is &#8220;much stronger&#8221; than the indictment that he faces from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg&#8217;s office.
The remarks from Dershowitz come after he has repeatedly defended the former president, including as a member of his defense team during his first impeachment trial and as a pundit on cable news where he regularly defended the former president over a variety of issues, most notably against former special counsel Robert Mueller&#8217;s Russia investigation.
Dershowitz <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/alan-dershowitz-slams-trump-indictment-shares-one-damning-piece-evidence-doj-case">told</a> Fox News on Sunday that he thinks that the indictment was an example of &#8220;targeting&#8221; the former president, but admitted that there was one &#8220;damning piece of evidence&#8221; included in the indictment that could cause serious problems for Trump.
The piece of evidence Dershowitz referred to was the following <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/5-of-the-most-shocking-allegations-and-details-in-the-federal-indictment-against-trump">allegation</a> in the indictment:

[Trump] told the individuals that the plan was “highly confidential” and “secret.” [Trump] also said, “as president I could have declassified it,” and, “Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.”</blockquote>
&#8220;There&#8217;s one problem with that, and that is the tape recording in which Donald Trump foolishly waves a piece of paper and says, &#8216;I could have declassified this, but I didn&#8217;t. It&#8217;s secret. Here, look at it,'&#8221; Dershowitz said. &#8220;Now, maybe he didn&#8217;t actually allow the person to read it. But that tape recording, which can&#8217;t be cross-examined, you can&#8217;t say it&#8217;s a flip witness or a witness who shouldn&#8217;t have been able to testify. That&#8217;s a damning piece of evidence.&#8221;
Dershowitz added that attempts to claim that Trump had the right to have the document because the Presidential Records Act allows him to have it are a &#8220;weak defense.&#8221;
&#8220;I think this is a much stronger indictment than the Bragg indictment, but it&#8217;s the product of targeting,&#8221; he claimed.
Former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr told Fox News on Sunday that if even half of the things Trump is accused of doing are true that the former president is “toast.”
“It’s a very detailed indictment and it’s very, very damning,” Barr said. “And this idea of presenting Trump as a victim here, or a victim of a witch hunt, is ridiculous. Yes, he’s been a victim in the past. Yes, his adversaries have obsessively pursued him with phony claims. And I’ve been at his side defending against them when he is a victim. But this is much different. He’s not a victim here.”
Barr said the federal indictment is very different from other cases in which the justice system was weaponized against the former president.
“There was no problem or issue underlying the Russiagate claim. It was an effort to knock him out with a false claim,” Barr said. “Here, I think the government acted responsibly. They gave him every opportunity to return those documents. They acted with restraint. They were very deferential to him. And they were very patient. They talked to him for almost a year to try to get those documents and he jerked them around. They finally went to a subpoena, and what did he do? According to the government, he lied and obstructed that subpoena. And then they did a search, and they found a lot more documents.”

It was Baker who advised Twitter not to allow sharing of the Hunter Biden laptop story just before the 2020 election. Polls suggest the laptop story, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reminder-these-50-intelligence-officers-claimed-without-evidence-that-new-york-posts-hunter-biden-story-was-russian-disinformation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">broken by the New York Post</a> and full of shocking evidence of the younger Biden selling his father&#8217;s influence, would have <a href="https://tippinsights.com/shock-poll-8-in-10-think-biden-laptop-cover-up-changed-election/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">swung the election</a> if social media platforms Twitter and Facebook, together with legacy media outlets, hadn’t squashed it. But Baker wasn’t done sabotaging free speech from inside Twitter, even though he is now.
When Musk turned over the platform’s internal communications to a pair of respected journalists, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiro-twitter-files-show-2020-was-rigged-not-stolen-but-trump-is-hurting-himself/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matt Taibbi</a> and Bari Weiss, so they could raise the curtain on Twitter’s partisan, swamp-directed “content moderation,” Baker sprang into action one last time. Since Musk hadn’t yet rooted him out, Baker was the one in position to screen the communications given to Taibbi and Weiss.
Taibbi’s bombshell first review of the behind-the-scenes deliberations that led to killing the laptop story showed Twitter’s old regime looking hapless and corrupt. The Democrats appeared to dictate the platform’s social justice warriors&#8217; every decision. Baker let one email through that he undoubtedly thought portrayed him as a wizened attorney, out to protect the company.
“It’s reasonable for us to assume that they may have been [hacked] and that caution is warranted,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-fbi-lawyer-turned-twitter-counsel-supported-decision-to-suppress-hunter-biden-laptop-story-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Baker opined</a> about the laptop to Twitter&#8217;s social justice warriors.
Astute observers like Miranda Devine, the indefatigable New York Post reporter and author of “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/s?k=laptop+from+hell+miranda+devine&amp;adgrpid=1346902504718127&amp;hvadid=84181633375201&amp;hvbmt=bp&amp;hvdev=c&amp;hvlocphy=83836&amp;hvnetw=o&amp;hvqmt=p&amp;hvtargid=kwd-84181892496714%3Aloc-190&amp;hydadcr=20615_13322643&amp;tag=mh0b-20&amp;ref=pd_sl_5trisix487_p" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Laptop from Hell: Hunter Biden, Big Tech, and the Dirty Secrets the President Tried to Hide</a>,” noticed there was a dog that wasn’t barking in the first tranche of emails, texts, and Slack messages pored over and poured out by Taibbi.
Where was the FBI?
Yoel Roth, whose job at Twitter involved silencing conservatives and bore the absurd title of “global head of safety &amp; integrity,” had already let slip that the FBI had warned Twitter that the laptop story was coming, claiming that it was a Russian disinformation operation.
“I was told in these meetings that the intelligence community expected that individuals associated with political campaigns would be subject to hacking attacks and that material obtained through those hacking attacks would likely be disseminated over social media platforms, including Twitter,” he said in a Dec. 21, 2020 sworn declaration to the Federal Election Commission. “I also learned in these meetings that there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden.”
That jibes perfectly with Facebook founder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/evidence-of-fbi-meddling-in-2020-election-mounts-after-zuckerbergs-hunter-biden-laptop-revelation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mark Zuckerberg’s August revelation</a> to podcast king Joe Rogan that the FBI had warned the company just before the 2020 election that a “dump” of “Russian propaganda” was on the way.
Yet nothing in the first batch of Twitter files implicated the FBI. If you find that suspicious, so did Musk. He “<a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1600237095364096000?s=20&amp;t=ctk9fY6WnPtFKEQrEKWiqA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exited</a>” the FBI operative post haste, allowing him to join fan favorites <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-musk-rehires-recently-fired-twitter-employees-rahul-ligma-and-daniel-johnson-says-firing-them-was-the-biggest-mistake/ar-AA14bGnG" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ligma and Johnson</a> on the sidewalk outside Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters.
With the fox out of the henhouse, we may soon see more proof of the FBI’s complicity in burying the Hunter Biden laptop story. As for seeing more of James Baker, tune in to MSNBC. They’re probably reviewing his resume right now.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said that Robert Mueller’s report on former President Donald Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia failed to turn public opinion against Trump because Congress did not hold enough public hearings about it.
MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle told Rep. Schiff that his work on the January 6 commission “just takes me back to the definitive Mueller report that was filled with so many things that didn’t actually resonate or make their way to the American people. Why do you think it will be different?”
Schiff <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/now/rep-schiff-says-jan-6-191128104.html">replied</a>, “The Mueller report didn’t change many attitudes, because it really wasn’t brought to life through public hearings. I think that was one of the failings.”
In fact, Hollywood actors literally brought the report to life in a 10-act play that featured them reading Mueller’s transcripts: John Lithgow played President Trump on stage, alongside Annette Bening, Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Kline, Joel Grey, and Ben McKenzie. “If you still can&#8217;t get enough or if you haven&#8217;t finished your own copy of the Mueller Report, well, you can head to Washington in the next few weeks for an 11-hour long reading of volume two. Also there are plans for a graphic novel,” <a href="https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/nday/date/2019-06-25/segment/01">reported</a> CNN’s Alexandra Field.

Experts said the greatest problem with the Mueller report was that it failed to deliver evidence of collusion between the Trump-led Republican Party and Vladimir Putin’s Russia. “The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” the report <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/8-things-you-need-know-about-mueller-report-ben-shapiro">concluded</a>.
“We did have obviously two hearings with Bob Mueller himself,” Schiff conceded on Thursday, “but what we really needed was I think to bring forward the actual witnesses to those events.”
Congressional hearings at which Robert Mueller appeared mentally inert and uninformed about the report, which was putatively his own work, did not help the prosecution’s case. President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-mocks-democrats-over-disastrous-mueller-ryan-saavedra">thanked the Democrats</a> for holding the spectacle publicly. Obama aide David Axelrod called Mueller’s performance “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/very-painful-democrats-left-wing-media-implode-ryan-saavedra">very, very painful</a>,” adding that the special counsel “does not appear as sharp as he was.” As Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/very-painful-democrats-left-wing-media-implode-ryan-saavedra">reported</a>:

Far from breathing life into his damning report, the tired Robert Mueller sucked the life out of it. MSNBC’s Jeremy Bash complained that Mueller “sucked the life out” of the Russia report and seriously “set back” efforts to hold Trump “accountable” — meaning impeachment.
Bash added that Mueller was “evasive,” “lost at times,” and was “very ineffective” at defending “his own work.”</blockquote>
Schiff, who led the charge to tie former President Trump to the Kremlin, is now a member of the congressional committee investigating the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Ruhle interrupted Schiff’s remarks, which occurred after President Joe Biden’s speech about the riot last January 6, to return to Biden speaking with a gaggle of reporters.

Adam Schiff: Biggest Problem With Mueller Report Was It ‘Wasn’t Brought To Life Through Public Hearings’

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has yet again jumped on the slightest adverse news regarding the Trump administration to call for an investigation.
Schiff, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, used a New York Times article from late August to draft <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/sites/democrats.oversight.house.gov/files/documents/2020-10-28.Schiff%20CBM%20SFL%20Waters%20Nadler%20Pascrell%20to%20DOJ%20IC%20IGs%20re%20CI%20Investigation.pdf">a six-page letter</a> demanding inspectors general at the Justice Department and in the intelligence committee investigate allegations that former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein hampered the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. The letter quotes heavily from a Times report from Michael Schmidt, which was adapted from his book, “Donald Trump v. The United States: Inside the Struggle to Stop a President.”
Relying on anonymous sources, Schmidt wrote: “The Justice Department secretly took steps in 2017 to narrow the investigation into Russian election interference and any links to the Trump campaign, according to former law enforcement officials, keeping investigators from completing an examination of President Trump’s decades-long personal and business ties to Russia.” The report also claimed Rosenstein “curtailed the investigation without telling the bureau, all but ensuring it would go nowhere.”
As the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/adam-schiff-calls-for-watchdog-investigations-based-on-discredited-new-york-times-story">reported</a>, however, many of the prominent anti-Trump officials who worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation disputed the Times report shortly after it was published.
Fired FBI agent Peter Strzok, famous for having an affair with another FBI official and discussing an “insurance policy” in case Trump won the election, said in September that the Times reporting was inaccurate.
“During the time I worked at the Special Counsel’s Office, I didn’t feel such a limitation,” Strzok told The Atlantic’s Anne Applebaum. “When I discussed this with Mueller and others, it was agreed that FBI personnel attached to the Special Counsel’s Office would do the counterintelligence work, which necessarily included the president. But that’s an extraordinarily complex task, one of the most difficult counterintelligence investigations in the FBI’s history.”
Andrew Weissmann, a prosecutor for Mueller, also disputed the Times article.
“NYT story today is wrong re: alleged secret DOJ order prohibiting a counterintelligence investigation by Mueller, ‘without telling the bureau.’ Dozens of FBI agents/analysts were embedded in Special Counsel&#8217;s Office and we were never told to keep anything from them,&#8221; Weissmann said after the article was published.
As Dunleavy noted, Mueller’s own report contradicted the claims in the Times article on which Schiff relied.
“From its inception, the Office recognized that its investigation could identify foreign intelligence and counterintelligence information relevant to the FBI’s broader national security mission. FBI personnel who assisted the Office established procedures to identify and convey such information to the FBI,&#8221; Mueller’s report said. &#8220;The FBI’s Counterintelligence Division met with the Office regularly for that purpose for most of the Office’s tenure. For more than the past year, the FBI also embedded personnel at the Office who did not work on the Special Counsel’s investigation, but whose purpose was to review the results of the investigation and to send — in writing — summaries of foreign intelligence and counterintelligence information to FBIHQ and FBI Field Offices.”

CNN&#8217;s Brian Stelter chided Washington Examiner Chief Congressional Correspondent Susan Ferrechio for calling out the mainstream media&#8217;s &#8220;ethics&#8221; when it came to reporting on supposed Trump/Russia collusion conspiracies, which have been largely <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/25/primary-source-for-bogus-steele-dossier-was-deemed-a-national-security-threat/">discredited</a>.
To Ferrechio&#8217;s point, the sudden onset of supposed &#8220;media ethics&#8221; comes in time to protect Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden from a potentially damaging story concerning his son Hunter Biden and the alleged selling of political access.
On the panel, Stelter dismissed the potential bombshell as old news and railed against Big Tech for not censoring conservatives even more. (The New York Post has been suspended on Twitter for days now after releasing the Biden story.)
The reason conservatives are seeing their news and voices censored by Big Tech, rationalized Stelter, is because of &#8220;asymmetric nastiness,&#8221; meaning Team Biden is running a clean campaign without lies, and the Trump campaign is misinforming the public.
Conservatives are being censored more, he said, because there is &#8220;more (bulls***) being spread by the Right. It&#8217;s sad, hopefully it&#8217;ll stop, but right now it&#8217;s true.&#8221;
Ferrechio, however, would not allow Stelter to skate.
“This is not last year’s news,” she told the CNN host of the Biden story. “It’s whether or not his son was coordinating to get him to talk to these Ukrainian oligarchs, and he was benefiting from it. It’s really dirty, and it needs to be looked at.”
Stelter claimed “newsrooms in America are very careful about this stuff” and work to slowly and cautiously vet the news. “I think bottom line is we don’t know what is real and what is fake in these emails, if there is anything real in them,” Stelter said.
“Yeah, but that didn’t stop [anyone] from reporting the Mueller and the dossier and all that stuff,” Ferrechio shot back.
“I know you’re bitter. I understand that you have a lot of resentment about that,&#8221; Stelter dismissed Ferrechio.
“Now we have ethics,” Ferrechio mocked.
“Don’t you dare,” an angry Stelter scolded the reporter. “Don’t you dare act like newsrooms didn’t have ethics in 2017 and 2018.”
“You can ‘don’t dare’ me all you want, Brian,” Ferrechio responded. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, so say whatever you want. It’s my view, and I have a right to say it.”
“I didn’t discard the Mueller stuff,&#8221; she later added. &#8220;I was much more skeptical because I knew the sourcing, and I knew where it came from on Capitol Hill, where I have stood in the building for the past few decades,” she said. “I had real reason to doubt that stuff, and I constantly did, and it turned out a lot of it was a bunch of bunk.”
“I think everybody deserved to look at the Mueller stuff, and everyone should look at this and give Biden the scrutiny,&#8221; Ferrechio said. &#8221; &#8230; He’s not running for president of the Glee Club; he’s running for President of the United States, and this is serious.”

Numerous cell phones from special counsel Robert Mueller&#8217;s team were &#8220;accidentally wiped&#8221; before the Department of Justice inspector general was able to review the devices, according to newly released government records.
&#8220;The records show at least several dozen phones were wiped of information because of forgotten passcodes, irreparable screen damage, loss of the device, intentional deletion or other reasons — and came before the DOJ’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) could review the devices,&#8221; Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doj-records-mueller-team-wiped-phones">reported</a>. &#8220;The OIG opened an investigation into possible bias in the origins of the Russia Investigation, but determined that the FBI complied with policies in launching the politically explosive probe. Still, the OIG flagged &#8216;significant concerns with how certain aspects of the investigation were conducted and supervised.'&#8221;
The OIG&#8217;s investigation into possible political bias that was involved in the origins of the FBI&#8217;s counterintelligence surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016 was limited in scope. U.S. Attorney John Durham launched a full-scale administrative review over what happened, which quickly turned into a criminal investigation after he reportedly uncovered evidence of misconduct.
Federalist co-founder Sean Davis was the first to release the new records showing that Mueller&#8217;s team wiped their phones.
&#8220;Newly released DOJ records show that multiple top members of Mueller&#8217;s investigative team claimed to have &#8216;accidentally wiped&#8217; at least 15 (!) phones used during the anti-Trump investigation after the DOJ OIG asked for the devies to be handed over,&#8221; Davis wrote. &#8220;Federal records show that Mueller deputy Andrew Weismann claims to have &#8216;accidentally&#8217; wiped, via wrong passwords at least 2 phones detailing his activity during the anti-Trump probe. James Quarles&#8217; phone &#8216;wiped itself.&#8217; Greg Andre also made the same wrong password claim.&#8221;

&#8220;Mueller deputy Kyle Freeny similarly claimed that his phone was accidentally wiped after too many wrong passwords were entered. Same with Mueller deputy Rush Atkinson. At least a 12 other officials whose names are redacted also claimed to have &#8216;accidentally&#8217; nuked their phones,&#8221; Davis continued. &#8220;The newly released DOJ records from the OIG investigation of corruption during the Mueller probe shows that a key tactic used by the Mueller team was to put the phones in airplane mode, lock them, and then claim they didn&#8217;t have the password.&#8221;

Negative 100,000%?&#8221;
Durham&#8217;s criminal investigation has already netted at least one guilty plea as attorney Kevin Clinesmith admitted to a judge that he &#8220;had intentionally inserted words into the text of the email, which discussed past relations between the C.I.A. and Carter Page,&#8221; The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/19/us/politics/kevin-clinesmith-guilty.html">reported</a>.
&#8220;The alteration was uncovered last year by an inspector general report laying out a litany of errors and omissions in the Page wiretap applications,&#8221; the Times added. &#8220;They included the F.B.I.’s failure to tell judges about Mr. Page’s history of talking to the C.I.A. about his interactions with Russian intelligence officials, a fact that might have made him look less suspicious. The report suggested that Mr. Clinesmith’s move prevented a colleague from recognizing the problem.&#8221;
