Perhaps the only thing Democrats and Republicans seem to agree on these days is that the pharmaceutical industry is bad. In particular, there has been bipartisan movement in recent years to ban direct-to-consumer drug ads, which are only permitted in the United States and New Zealand. Some supporters, like The Daily Wire&#8217;s Matt Walsh, have called these ads <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/all-the-reasons-why-big-pharma-commercials-should-be-banned">dangerous</a>.
But even those who don&#8217;t feel that strongly about the issue aren&#8217;t jumping up to defend these ads, which generally feature a bunch of shiny, happy stock-photo models dancing around while a narrator speed-reads through a list of side effects ranging from nausea to death.

The ad ends as the couple parks their old Suburban beside a shiny new one, welcoming their grown children and grandchildren home for the holidays.
It’s the kind of commercial American companies have long excelled at: emotionally evocative in all the right ways, tapping into nostalgia, family, and the warmth of the season — and, yes, selling a product. Holiday ads have become part of our cultural fabric. Think of Coca-Cola&#8217;s polar bears, or the Budweiser Clydesdales. These ads don’t just market products; they help set the tone for the season.
Ads like these may not survive if Washington continues down a troubling road of restricting TV commercials for politically unpopular — but legal — products. At the top of this list is pharmaceutical ads, which Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) wants removed from the airwaves. In that fight he has an unlikely ally: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
This may seem like a rare instance of bipartisan cooperation. And in today’s political climate, dinging pharmaceutical companies is almost certain to prove popular.
But we already have strict advertising laws against including false or misleading claims in ads, and severe penalties for violations — and appropriately so. Banning pharmaceutical ads would be regulatory overkill, and could have negative consequences its advocates aren’t considering.
Contrary to what critics say, prescription drugs preserve life and improve health. Because of this, advertising can be a social good. An ad that makes people aware of a new drug’s benefits can literally save lives and alleviate suffering.
Some politicians and regulators say these ads only serve to artificially drive up demand. And they do drive up demand — for treatments that work. That’s a good thing.
Think about what would happen if we had a new wonder drug to help cure or stop the spread of breast cancer. Now imagine that the government prevented the pharmaceutical company from promoting this treatment to patients.
It could take months before patients get access to this miracle cure.
Plus, if lawmakers succeed in chipping away protections for advertisers, it will only empower future government censors. Imagine a future Democrat administration that wants to ban ads for gas-powered cars or disposable diapers in the name of “protecting the environment.”
Pharmaceutical ads may not be the most popular thing in the world. But that doesn’t change the fact that they have a real benefit — or the fact that banning them would do more harm than good.

WASHINGTON—The head of the Food and Drug Administration is facing heavy fire from the pro-life community amid reports that he slow-walked a review of abortion drugs promised by Health and Human Services Director Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The backlash followed a Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-12-08/fda-slow-walking-a-long-awaited-abortion-pill-safety-study">report</a> stating that the FDA had delayed its review of the impacts of abortion drugs, specifically mifepristone — a review promised by both Kennedy and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. Two people familiar with the matter reportedly told Bloomberg that Makary requested that the review be put off until after the midterm elections.
Health and Human Services Press Secretary Emily Hilliard told The Daily Wire on Tuesday afternoon that the FDA’s comprehensive scientific reviews &#8220;take the time necessary to get the science right,&#8221; adding, &#8220;That is what Dr. Makary is ensuring as part of the Department&#8217;s commitment to gold-standard science and evidence-based reviews.&#8221;
HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon similarly rejected the idea that Makary was acting ideologically, telling Bloomberg the &#8220;assertions that the FDA is slow-walking this review for political purposes are baseless.&#8221;
The White House similarly backing Makary, telling The Daily Wire that Makary is working hard to &#8220;ensure that Americans have the best possible, Gold Standard Science study of mifepristone.&#8221; A White House official also pushed back on the claim that the study is being &#8220;slow walked,&#8221; saying that comprehensive and exhaustive reviews take time.

&#8220;The White House maintains the utmost confidence in Commissioner Makary, whose leadership at the FDA has delivered and continues to deliver one landmark victory for the American people after another, from cracking down on artificial ingredients in our food supply to conducting the first safety review of baby formula in decades,&#8221; Deputy White House Press Secretary Kush Desai said. &#8220;Uninformed attacks against Commissioner Makary from individuals outside the Administration will not change these facts.”
But a number of high-profile pro-life leaders view the matter differently. They insist Kennedy and Makary promised a timely review of the abortion drugs, and, in their view, wasted time means more babies killed through abortion drugs, and more women harmed by their adverse effects.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, one of the top pro-life groups in the United States, came out swinging on Tuesday morning with a statement condemning Makary, saying he should be &#8220;fired immediately&#8221; and accusing him of &#8220;undermining&#8221; the Trump-Vance pro-life agenda.
&#8220;The FDA is doing nothing while every single day abortion drugs take the lives of children, put women and girls at serious risk, empower abusers and trample state pro-life laws,&#8221; said the organization&#8217;s president, Marjorie Dannenfelser. &#8220;The FDA needs a new commissioner who will immediately reinstate in-person dispensing as it existed under President Trump’s first term and immediately conduct a comprehensive study.&#8221;
&#8220;Commissioner Makary is severely undermining President Trump and Vice President Vance’s pro-life credentials and their position that states should have the right to enact and enforce pro-life protections,&#8221; she added. &#8220;Makary must go.”
Missouri Senator Josh Hawley (R.), who has been particularly vocal throughout the second Trump administration about the need to examine abortion drugs, also slammed Makary on Tuesday, saying that the Bloomberg report suggests the FDA &#8220;lied&#8221; to him and other members of Congress.
&#8220;FDA needs to stop dithering &amp; reinstate the mifepristone safety guardrails,&#8221; Hawley said. &#8220;Nothing less is acceptable.&#8221;

A pro-life leader who has engaged in conversations with the White House on the topic shared with The Daily Wire that the Tuesday report shattered the confidence of pro-life organizations advocating for the review, confirming inklings of delays that they had already heard.
“I don’t think Senator Hawley is alone in his concerns,&#8221; the leader shared.
Lila Rose, a well-known pro-life activist who heads the pro-life organization Live Action, warned in a <a href="https://x.com/LilaGraceRose/status/1998429557909565477">post</a> on X: &#8220;If Dr Makary will not act as head of the FDA to protect children and mothers he should be fired. Under his watch abortion pills kill preborn children and endanger women and the study he promised is nowhere to be found. End mail order abortion. Ban the abortion pill now!&#8221;
SBA Pro-Life America cites peer-reviewed research that found three-quarters of emergency room visits within 30 days after a woman took abortion drugs were coded as severe or as critical. They also point to studies that found more than one in ten women experience at least one severe adverse event when taking the abortion drugs, and point out that complications can include hemorrhaging, infections, sepsis, and, in some cases, death.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reverse-this-wrong-republicans-push-rfk-to-fix-bidens-abortion-drug-mistakes">reported</a> in late November that 175 Republican lawmakers called on HHS to take “immediate action” to reinstate safety requirements on abortion drugs, highlighting the growing body of evidence showing that the drugs are causing severe and underreported harm to women, asking RFK Jr. and Makary to “at a minimum, reinstate the in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone.”
Until 2023, the FDA required abortion drugs to be administered to women under a doctor’s supervision. Under President Joe Biden, that and other safety standards were removed, which the Biden White House justified by citing the coronavirus pandemic.
“The need for urgent investigation and review of this drug comes in the wake of the Biden-Harris administration’s egregious action to remove critical safeguards that once applied to abortion drugs, and the FDA’s approval of a new abortion drug generic in September 2025,” wrote the lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN).
“Under your leadership, HHS and FDA can reverse this wrong,” they conclude. “We urge you to immediately reinstate the REMS requiring in-person dispensing of mifepristone and to expedite the promised review by the FDA into the dangers of abortion drugs.”

A famed doctor with tens of millions of followers on social media was recently schooled on the issues plaguing public health by a supporter of the &#8220;Make America Healthy Again&#8221; agenda.
Mikhail Varshavski, known online as Dr. Mike, argued on a recent episode of Jubilee&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y90R8BPc8Ag">Surrounded</a>&#8221; that Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should step down from his position, citing cuts to bureaucracy within the department.
A supporter of the MAHA movement named Brian needed under two minutes to decimate Dr. Mike&#8217;s argument.
&#8220;So considering all of that &#8230; where did that get us?&#8221; the MAHA supporter asked Dr. Mike, responding to specific HHS cuts cited by the online personality.
Notably, Secretary Kennedy has defended cuts to HHS, citing absurd bureaucracy and overlapping offices that he contends are wasteful and not helping improve public health.
&#8220;Look at the state of America, of Americans&#8217; health, and you tell me that the public is actually healthy,&#8221; Brian dared Dr. Mike. &#8220;What RFK is doing is he is saying, &#8216;enough is enough, something has to change.&#8217; And I will say this very politely &#8212; I think that you have to be f***ing insane to say &#8216;more&#8217; is somehow going to get us out of the current public health crisis that we have right now.&#8221;
&#8220;Americans are fat and they are sick and it is not getting better, and taking more and more money and continuing to flush it down the toilet is not going to solve the problem,&#8221; he continued.
&#8220;We know what will stop cancer dead in its tracks. We know what will stop all chronic disease dead in its tracks. Do you know what it is?&#8221; Brian asked.
&#8220;Lifestyle changes,&#8221; Dr. Mike responded.
&#8220;Lifestyle changes,&#8221; the MAHA supporter agreed. &#8220;The American Heart Association has known about this for years, that the most important predictor of longevity, risk of chronic disease, all-cause mortality is <a href="https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1161/cir.0000000000000461">VO2 max</a>. So why aren&#8217;t doctors &#8212; why isn&#8217;t the government creating a public health system that says, &#8216;you know what, we&#8217;re gonna focus on VO2 max because even if we stopped every dollar we had [going] into cancer research right now, and we took that money and we said, let&#8217;s get people moving, let&#8217;s increase their VO2 max.'&#8221;
&#8220;The question is, when is enough enough to admit that the system you are a part of has drastically failed Americans?&#8221; Brian posed.
The supporter added that Secretary Kennedy, &#8220;by the very fact of how he looks in his 70s, does more to encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle and truly make America healthy again.&#8221;

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention&#8217;s (CDC) vaccine panel recommended this week that the hepatitis B immunization should not be given to all babies immediately after birth. The decision was fully supported by President Donald Trump, who then took the issue one step further, signing a memorandum to &#8220;fast track&#8221; a full evaluation of the childhood vaccine schedule.
The decision from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP, marks a major shift, changing up standard practice in the United States for some 30 years.
In an 8-3 vote, the panel recommended the hepatitis B vaccine only be given at birth for infants whose mothers test positive for the virus, or whose status is unknown. If a mother has a negative hepatitis B status, she should speak to her doctor about getting the first dose of the vaccination at birth.
Traditionally, the vaccine is given in three separate doses. The ACIP panel decided that some children do not need a third dose, and recommended testing children&#8217;s antibody levels before determining if they need follow-up doses.

On Friday, Trump posted on Truth Social that the decision from ACIP is &#8220;very good&#8221; and criticized the general vaccine schedule for children.
&#8220;[T]he CDC Vaccine Committee made a very good decision to END their Hepatitis B Vaccine Recommendation for babies, the vast majority of whom are at NO RISK of Hepatitis B, a disease that is mostly transmitted sexually, or through dirty needles,&#8221; the president wrote.
&#8220;The American Childhood Vaccine Schedule long required 72 &#8216;jabs,&#8217; for perfectly healthy babies, far more than any other Country in the World, and far more than is necessary,&#8221; Trump continued. &#8220;In fact, it is ridiculous! Many parents and scientists have been questioning the efficacy of this &#8216;schedule,&#8217; as have I!&#8221;
Trump then announced that he signed a &#8220;Presidential Memorandum directing the Department of Health and Human Services to &#8216;FAST TRACK&#8217; a comprehensive evaluation of Vaccine Schedules from other Countries around the World, and better align the U.S. Vaccine Schedule, so it is finally rooted in the Gold Standard of Science and COMMON SENSE!&#8221;

WASHINGTON—The Department of Health and Human Services took momentous action Wednesday to protect the rights of parents to know what medical procedures their children are being subjected to.
The department opened an investigation into a Midwestern school that allegedly illegally vaccinated a child, ignoring a religious exemption request the parents had submitted under state law. Additionally, HHS issued a &#8220;Dear Colleague&#8221; letter to health care providers emphasizing that federal law requires them to let parents access health information about their children. The department also ordered its Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to add a grant requirement noting that any funding recipients must comply with federal and state parental-consent laws for any &#8220;services or care provided to minors at HRSA-supported health centers as a condition of receiving Health Center Program funds.&#8221;
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said in a statement Wednesday that HHS was &#8220;putting pediatric medical professionals on notice.&#8221;
&#8220;You cannot sideline parents,” the HHS secretary said. “When providers ignore parental consent, violate exemptions to vaccine mandates, or keep parents in the dark about their children’s care, we will act decisively. We will use every tool at our disposal to protect families and restore accountability.”
The action is particularly momentous given the progressive activist push in recent years to promote &#8220;Adolescent Medicine&#8221; — the idea that medical professionals should be able to give medical care to children without telling parents. In many blue states across the country, particularly under President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, activists were pushing the notion that young girls and boys struggling with their gender identity should be able to transition without their parents&#8217; knowledge or consent, or that young girls should be able to obtain abortions or other medical procedures their parents were unaware of.
HHS Office of Civil Rights Director Paula Stannard told The Daily Wire in a phone interview that the department was first made aware of &#8220;Adolescent Medicine&#8221; and its dangers through a report issued by &#8220;Do No Harm,&#8221; a group that fights back against gender ideology, and has raised many concerns about the medical community transitioning children without parental consent. Stannard called this activist push for &#8220;Adolescent Medicine&#8221; very &#8220;concerning,&#8221; particularly from her perspective and her role in enforcing HIPAA.

&#8220;Part of what the HIPAA rules outline are the rights that individuals and their personal representatives have with respect to their health information,&#8221; she noted. &#8220;And one of those rights is the right to access. Starting in the first Trump administration, we had begun an initiative to enforce the individual&#8217;s right to access of their medical records. And so when I saw this, I immediately decided and recommended to the secretary that we further emphasize this particular aspect of the privacy rule in our enforcement efforts under this initiative.&#8221;
The HHS Office of Civil Rights is reminding health care providers, in very plain terms, of a parent&#8217;s right to access their child&#8217;s health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule, which states that a parent is the personal representative of their child and has the legal authority to make health care decisions for the child. In the department&#8217;s &#8220;Dear Colleague&#8221; letter, HHS emphasized that parents are indeed their children&#8217;s personal representatives and absolutely have the right of access to their child&#8217;s health information.
Additionally, the HHS Office of Civil Rights says it is initiating compliance reviews of many health care providers to make sure that parents are not just receiving their child&#8217;s health information, but are also receiving it in a timely manner.
&#8220;Both the president and the secretary are very focused on making sure that parents&#8217; rights are respected and enforced,&#8221; Stannard explained. &#8220;We are investigating the particular healthcare provider, as well as the state, to find out what the facts are and to make sure that the state and the providers understand what federal law requires with respect to parental rights and religious exemptions for vaccination or the vaccines for children program,&#8221; noting the investigation into the Midwestern school. 
HHS&#8217; Office for Civil Rights will be investigating whether the school, which it did not name, failed to comply with the requirements of the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC). WASHINGTON—Republicans are calling on the Department of Health and Human Services to take &#8220;immediate action&#8221; to reinstate safety requirements on abortion drugs, highlighting a growing body of evidence showing that the drugs are causing severe and underreported harm to women.
In a letter first obtained by The Daily Wire, New Jersey Rep. Christopher Smith and Tennessee Rep. Diana Harshbarger call on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Marty Makary to &#8220;at a minimum, reinstate the in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone.&#8221; Until 2023, the FDA required abortion drugs to be administered to women under a doctor&#8217;s supervision.
&#8220;The need for urgent investigation and review of this drug comes in the wake of the Biden-Harris administration’s egregious action to remove critical safeguards that once applied to abortion drugs, and the FDA’s approval of a new abortion drug generic in September 2025,&#8221; write the 175 lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN).
&#8220;Under your leadership, HHS and FDA can reverse this wrong,&#8221; they conclude. &#8220;We urge you to immediately reinstate the REMS requiring in-person dispensing of mifepristone and to expedite the promised review by the FDA into the dangers of abortion drugs.&#8221;
The move is significant since President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration green-lit the removal of safety standards on the drugs during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing women to easily obtain the drugs at home. Pro-life advocates have long argued that women are being put in danger simply from taking the abortion drugs, but they are even more anxious about women taking the drugs on their own.
New studies are showing that complications are &#8220;astonishingly higher than what is reported on the drug’s label,&#8221; the lawmakers say: &#8220;Even the current Obama FDA-approved label for mifepristone — which the data show understates the dangers to women — says that roughly 1 in 25 women who use mifepristone as directed will end up in the emergency room.&#8221;

&#8220;Recent studies already point to serious risks when mifepristone is used without proper medical oversight,&#8221; he said, and he clarified of the new abortion pill that that the FDA just approved: &#8220;[The FDA] only approved a second generic mifepristone tablet because federal law requires approval when an application proves the generic is identical to the brand-name drug.&#8221;
In their appeal, the Republican lawmakers express gratitude to Kennedy and Makary for serving the most pro-life president in American history, saying that Trump has &#8220;done more to advance a culture of life and the protection of women and children from the violence of abortion than any president before him.&#8221; But they also cite polling from McLaughlin and Associates that found that 7 in 10 voters agree that it &#8220;makes sense&#8221; to bring the former FDA safety standards back, arguing that &#8220;clear majorities of Americans recognize the extreme overreach of the previous administration’s actions.&#8221;
The lawmakers also dive into how the abortion drugs affect mothers, citing an Ethics and Public Policy Center study showing the adverse events from mifepristone are about 22 times more frequent than the FDA recognizes. That study found that almost 11% of women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other life-threatening events after aborting their unborn baby with mifepristone.
&#8220;While we have long known that mifepristone causes the death by starvation of children alive in the womb — it is baby poison — we now know with greater certitude that their mothers are also being seriously harmed. Despite the mainstream media and the Biden-Harris administration perpetuating the lie that these drugs are &#8216;safer than taking a Tylenol,&#8217; science and women’s lived experiences clearly say otherwise.&#8221;
And while the Biden administration claimed that the removal of safety standards was in response to the COVID pandemic, to help women receive &#8220;medically necessary&#8221; care, the lawmakers argue that the former administration was really just using COVID as a &#8220;smokescreen&#8221; to &#8220;accomplish its radical abortion agenda, which even now wreaks havoc across the nation.&#8221;

They also say that the Biden FDA ignored warning signs from the studies on which it had already relied, including data showing that 3% of the women who took the drugs need to be hospitalized, &#8220;a 330% increase over the rate on the approved drug label,&#8221; data showing that 6% of participants had unplanned visits to emergency rooms, surgery was required to complete the abortions for 4.1% of the women, and, in the telemedicine group, 5.8% of women had emergency room visits.
&#8220;Beyond the studies, women tell us how they have suffered harm from mifepristone, and stories of coercion and abuse involving abortion drugs now run rampant,&#8221; they continue. &#8220;Real women like Rosalie Markezich — who is just one example of many — felt coerced by her boyfriend to take abortion drugs that he ordered from an out-of-state prescriber in her name and had delivered to her home through the U.S. Postal Service.&#8221;
&#8220;Rosalie did not want to have an abortion, but Biden’s egregious weakening of mifepristone’s safety standards let her boyfriend obtain abortion drugs and force her to take them,&#8221; they argue. &#8220;The dangerous Biden mail-order scheme was designed to give abortion activists license to mail drugs everywhere, even into states like Markezich’s home state of Louisiana that have pro-life protections for pregnant mothers and their unborn babies.&#8221;
&#8220;Today, abortion drugs account for nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the United States; there are over six hundred thousand abortions committed using these drugs each year,&#8221; the lawmakers write. &#8220;The Biden FDA’s reckless, no-contact, mail-order abortion scheme is to blame. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its website to suggest that autism could be caused by infant vaccinations &#8212; a major agency shift from past administrations.
&#8220;The claim &#8216;vaccines do not cause autism&#8217; is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism,&#8221; the site now reads.
The CDC also now says that studies &#8220;supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities,&#8221; and Health and Human Services (HHS) &#8220;has launched a comprehensive assessment of the causes of autism, including investigations on plausible biologic mechanisms and potential causal links.&#8221;

The CDC also previously stated that &#8220;no links have been found between any vaccine ingredients&#8221; and autism.

As part of his investigation into the massive spike in autism cases, Kennedy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/potential-cause-treatment-of-autism-revealed-by-trump-rfk-jr">announced</a> back in September that acetaminophen use during pregnancy is tied to an increased risk of autism. Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol, one of the most widely used medications globally for pain relief and fever reduction. But in late October, Kennedy <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/us-health-chief-says-not-enough-data-show-tylenol-causes-autism-still-advises-2025-10-29/">said</a> he did not have sufficient evidence to back up a definitive link.
&#8220;The causative association between Tylenol given in pregnancy and perinatal periods is not sufficient to say it definitely causes autism, but it is very suggestive,&#8221; he <a href="https://x.com/atrupar/status/1983591905385390220">said</a>.

‘Far Overdue!’: RFK Jr. Makes Major Women’s Health Announcement To High Praise

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he&#8217;s reached deals with major pharmaceutical companies to lower the costs of popular weight loss drugs known as GLP-1s.
Pharma companies Eli Lilly, which makes Zepbound, and Novo Nordisk, which makes Wegovy and Ozempic, have agreed to lower prices of their drugs to the tune of hundreds of dollars, Trump said. Notably, Ozempic is primarily a type 2 diabetes medication, but is often prescribed off-label for weight loss.
Now, monthly out-of-pocket costs of the drugs will range from $50 to around $350, depending on a person&#8217;s dosage and insurance coverage. The drugs currently cost at least $1,000 a month.
Medicare patients will cover a $50 copay each month for the injectable drugs, no matter if the medications are used for obesity or diabetes.
Through Trump&#8217;s direct-to-consumer government website, called TrumpRx, Americans will pay $350-a-month for Wegovy, Zepbound, or Ozempic. Moreover, the cost is expected to soon drop to $245 a month, according to the administration.

Additionally, both Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are working on oral GLP-1 medications for the public. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised the deal.
“This is the biggest drug in our country, and that’s why this is the most important of all the announcements we’ve made,&#8221; he said. &#8220;This is going to have the biggest impact on the American people. All Americans, even those who are not on Medicaid, Medicare, are going to be able to get the same price for their drugs, for their GLP-1s.”

Eli Lilly will also provide Emgality, a treatment for migraines, for $299 per pen, which is $443 lower than the current list price. Also, a diabetes medicine from Eli Lilly called Trulicity will be discounted by $598, now costing $389 per month.
NovoLog and Tresiba, popular insulin products from Novo Nordisk, will now cost $35 per month.
The president has also secured a $10 billion investment from Novo Nordisk to &#8220;to strengthen its domestic footprint&#8221; in the U.S. and $27 billion from Eli Lilly in new U.S. manufacturing investments.

Hines had initially joined the host of “The View” to promote her memoir, “Cheryl Hines Unscripted,” but host Sunny Hostin used the time to criticize comments RFK Jr. made and policies he promoted.
“Respectfully, your husband is the least qualified Department of Health and Human Services head that we’ve had in history. I think that’s very, very dangerous,” Hostin opened with. 
“Why is he less qualified than an economist? How is that possible?” Hines replied, referencing former President Barack Obama’s choice for the position, economist Sylvia Burwell.

“He has spent his career studying toxins, studying people’s health, fighting for one guy who was using Roundup for his job,” Hines defended her husband.
“He has also spread a lot of misinformation, a lot of chaos, a lot of confusion. And I think it’s just a very dangerous thing,” Hostin said before claiming, “I say it with the utmost respect.”
“Some of it’s good and some of it is not. That’s the point,” Joy Behar interrupted.
“Listen, we all have different views here. Yes. And when you say misinformation, disinformation, we could go back to COVID when —” Hines said. 
“He’s connecting circumcision to autism,” Hostin interrupted.
“May I finish?” Hines asked.
“Please,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg chimed in.
“When people, Fauci, people were saying when you get the vaccine, you cannot transmit COVID, it will stop COVID. And that was disinformation, misinformation,” Hines reminded the panelists.
At the end of the interview, Goldberg said it was important to have guests with different viewpoints and invited Hines to come back. 
“We don’t often get people on this show who we can ask these questions to, and I appreciate that you came on,” Goldberg said. “Because you know what, if we can have the discussion back and forth, it then becomes people’s — then they can decide what they believe, and they don’t just hear one side.”

Topline: President Trump is applying more pressure on Democrats as the government shutdown stretches on. Meanwhile, a major political opponent of Trump is referred for charges.
Former CIA Director John Brennan has been referred for charges from the Justice Department. Similar to former FBI Director James Comey, he is in hot water over statements he made during the probe into Trump-Russia collusion.
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced that his committee was recommending the charges on Tuesday. Jordan said that Brennan “knowingly made false statements” during sworn testimony last year. The Judiciary Committee says Brennan lied when he denied using the discredited Steele Dossier in drafting an intelligence assessment in 2017 – specifically, the Intelligence Community Assessment on Russian interference.
Rose Garden lunch: Trump – in typical Trump fashion – surprised lawmakers on Tuesday with a Rose Garden lunch. No one really knew what the lunch was about, not even Republicans.
A reporter asked Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana what the purpose of the lunch was, and he said, “I have no idea.” But Chuck Schumer and the Democrats saw things through a more sinister lens, <a href="https://x.com/AmberJoCooper/status/1980656632246988850">calling</a> the event a “Rose Garden pep rally” for the shutdown.

There was a pep rally element to the lunch. The president had just redone the Rose Garden and spoke excitedly about how it looks. YMCA blared over the speaker system prior to the president’s remarks.
Despite the festive atmosphere, Trump and Senate Republicans were clear that they were there for business: the business of reopening the government.
“From the beginning, our message has been very simple: we will not be extorted on this crazy plot of theirs. They’ve never done this before. Nobody has!” <a href="https://x.com/EricLDaugh/status/1980681699529752893">said</a> Trump. “Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats need to vote for the clean, bipartisan CR and reopen our government. It’s gotta be reopened, right now. We’re not doing that. They are the obstructionists. The reason they’re doing that is because we’re doing so well.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) spoke with the press after the lunch concluded. He stressed that Republicans are united on Trump&#8217;s team.
Senate Republicans are planning to hold a separate vote on paying troops and law enforcement agents for the remainder of the shutdown. It’s not clear if Democrats will join them. But there’s a chance that, if they manage to get those essential workers paid, it may empower both sides to dig in and keep the shutdown fight going even longer.
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Democrats’ ‘Shadow Public-Health Alliance’</h2>

Topline: More than a dozen Democrat governors have signed on to a new health alliance, in a direct challenge to the Trump administration&#8217;s federal health agencies. 
The Governors&#8217; Public Health Alliance is being pitched as “non-partisan” and “all about the science.” The claim is that the Trump administration, and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., in particular, is anti-science. Therefore, this organization is necessary to protect Americans. However, so far, the Governors’ Public Health Alliance is strictly partisan: only Democrat governors have signed on. 
The alliance will dole out medical guidance that will likely challenge federal agencies such as the CDC and FDA, or at least lobby the federal government on these matters. It will make public health guidelines or offer “best practices&#8221; on vaccines and other measures. The allied states will share medical statistics, data, and advice on preventive care, and buy vaccines and supplies in bulk. 
The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.hcinnovationgroup.com/policy-value-based-care/article/55323774/fifteen-governors-create-new-public-health-alliance?utm_source=chatgpt.com">called</a> the alliance a “shadow public-health alliance” and said it’s the “largest move” so far “to create an alternative public-health universe outside the federal government.”
Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois, a Democrat, signed on to this association and <a href="https://gov-pritzker-newsroom.prezly.com/gov-pritzker-joins-launch-of-governors-public-health-alliance-to-protect-illinoisians-from-trumps-attack-on-science?utm_source=chatgpt.com">claimed</a> that Trump and Kennedy have turned the CDC “into a misinformation machine.”
California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom also signed on. He said “extremists” in the Trump administration are trying to “weaponize the CDC and spread misinformation.”
Other states include Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and the territory of Guam. The residents in these states make up about one-third of the U.S. population.
The Democrat health effort has to do mostly with vaccines. The governors who have signed on have highlighted vaccine “access” and attacked Kennedy for challenging orthodoxy. There was also mention of abortion “access.”
The association is primarily funded by a nonprofit called Governors Action Alliance, known as GovAct. The nonprofit claims to be nonpartisan, but supports Democrat causes and generally teams up with Democrats to expand Medicaid and bolster abortion and voting rights.
GovAct is behind the “Reproductive Freedom Alliance,” a coalition of 23 Democrat governors working to expand abortion. GovAct is also behind the “Governors Safeguarding Democracy” alliance that is like a Resist Trump 2.0 effort launched just days after Trump won the 2024 election.
Trump admin’s response: HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon <a href="https://apnews.com/article/governors-public-health-alliance-kennedy-7d5f277178697bbdfc228567c6d9f616">called</a> out Democrat governors for “destroy[ing] public trust in public health.” He noted that Democrat-led states “imposed unscientific school closures, toddler mask mandates, and vaccine passports during the COVID era.” He said the Trump administration is rebuilding trust by “grounding every policy in rigorous evidence and Gold Standard Science – not the failed politics of the pandemic.”

Topline: Investigators are still scrambling for clues after priceless jewels were stolen from the world’s most famous museum during a daring, broad-daylight heist.
On Sunday morning, a half-hour after the Louvre Museum in Paris had opened its doors, four thieves arrived in a construction truck with an electric ladder mounted on top. Two men, posing as construction workers, then ascended to a second-floor facade, where they used special disc cutters to slice holes through the windows.
The thieves entered through the windows to the famed Galerie d’Apollon, home to some of France’s most priceless Crown Jewels. With stunned patrons watching, they smashed two display cases. They removed nine objects, including a large brooch, a pair of emerald earrings, a necklace, and other jewelry belonging to Empress Marie-Louise, the second wife of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The thieves then joined their accomplices on the street, where they escaped on motorbikes, fleeing along the banks of the Seine River. The operation lasted no more than seven minutes.
As the heist went on, museum visitors were ordered to evacuate immediately. Many said they thought the building was on fire or had been struck by terrorists.
French President Emmanuel Macron called the heist an “attack on a heritage that we cherish.” The biggest concern now is that the jewels may never be recovered. Experts say the thieves certainly know they’d likely get caught if they tried to sell them on the black market, so it’s a real possibility they could remove the stones and melt down the precious metals to sell piece by piece. One of the tiaras alone had more than 1,000 diamonds and dozens of sapphires.
One official said the heist wasn’t an art crime, but a “commodity theft.” The jewels they took are of “inestimable worth,” according to the museum.
The haul could have been even larger. In their haste to get away, the thieves abandoned efforts to take the crown of Empress Eugénie, which contained nearly 2,500 diamonds and more than 50 emeralds, though it was damaged during the robbery.
The investigation: Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the robbery was “a major, highly organized operation” carried out by a team that had clearly done scouting. But at the moment, if they have any leads, they aren’t letting the public know.
Speculation has been rampant. Many people wonder if this could’ve been part of an inside job – they want to know if someone on staff at the Louvre could have offered aid. The country’s foreign minister said they weren’t ruling out an inside job.
Others have questioned why these specific jewels were targeted. In the same room they hit lies a display case housing the famous Regent Diamond, a $60 million stone. Even some French officials have expressed confusion over why the thieves, who clearly had done their research, seemingly ignored such a prime target just a few feet away.
Heist hysteria: Just last week, a group of thieves stole a number of collectible clocks from the President Jacques Chirac Museum in the French town of Corrèze. Then last month, a separate heist saw thieves lift $700,000 worth of gold from the French Museum of Natural History. Weeks before that, $11 million worth of porcelain was stolen from yet another museum in the city of Limoges.
This is only the latest heist to hit the Louvre. A diamond-studded sword was stolen back in 1976. Most famous of all, the Mona Lisa was lifted back in 1911. Ultimately, the world-famous portrait painting was located two years later.

More than a dozen Democrat governors have signed on to a new health alliance that is effectively meant to challenge the Trump administration&#8217;s health agencies.
The Governors&#8217; Public Health Association, which was created last week, seeks to dole out medical guidance that will likely be at odds with the Trump administration&#8217;s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It will make recommendations on vaccines and other public health measures, and work with allied states to share medical statistics and data. 
It&#8217;s been pitched as “non-partisan” and science- and health-backed, and a way to restore public trust. However, only Democrat governors have signed on to the initiative. So far, those states include California, Illinois, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and the territory of Guam.
Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesman Andrew Nixon has <a href="https://apnews.com/article/governors-public-health-alliance-kennedy-7d5f277178697bbdfc228567c6d9f616">called</a> out the allied Democrat governors for imposing school closures and mask mandates, even for toddlers, during the pandemic. He asserted that they are the ones who “destroyed public trust in public health&#8221; &#8212; not the Trump administration.

 Nixon added that Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are rebuilding that trust &#8220;by grounding every policy in rigorous evidence and Gold Standard Science – not the failed politics of the pandemic.”
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) unsurprisingly signed on to the Governors&#8217; Public Health Association, and has <a href="https://gov-pritzker-newsroom.prezly.com/gov-pritzker-joins-launch-of-governors-public-health-alliance-to-protect-illinoisians-from-trumps-attack-on-science?">claimed</a> it’s a necessary body since &#8220;public health should never be politicized.” Trump and RFK, he claims, have turned the CDC “into a misinformation machine.”
Fellow Democrat, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, similarly emphasized that science should be put before politics. Newsom, who <a href="https://sd11.senate.ca.gov/news/senator-wieners-historic-bill-provide-refuge-trans-kids-and-their-families-signed-law">supports</a> sex changes for minors based on &#8220;gender identity,&#8221; added that “extremists” are trying to “weaponize the CDC and spread misinformation.”
The association is primarily funded by a nonprofit called Governors Action Alliance, known as GovAct. The nonprofit claims to be nonpartisan, but supports Democrat causes and generally teams up with Democrats to expand Medicaid and bolster so-called abortion and voting rights.
Notably, GovAct is behind the “Reproductive Freedom Alliance,&#8221; which is a coalition of Democrat governors working to expand abortion. The nonprofit dumped more than half a billion dollars into the initiative. It’s also behind the “Governors Safeguarding Democracy” alliance, which was launched to resist Trump shortly after he won the 2024 election.
The goal of the Governors&#8217; Public Health Association is seemingly to undermine the FDA and CDC with heavy focus on vaccine and abortion “access.&#8221; 
This will, however, come with complications for Democrats. States have to comply with certain federal health guidance or standards if they want federal funding. Additionally, health insurers generally follow federal guidance for their coverage, and large health insurers operate in multiple states if not nationwide. It would be chaotic and impractical to implement different sets of standards in different states.
Opposing guidance could also trigger legal battles. For example, the FDA is currently reviewing the safety of a controversial abortion pill called mifepristone. If there were some determination that the governors&#8217; alliance disagreed with, that could potentially set up a legal challenge.
