The newest cringe <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris">Kamala Harris</a> endorsement ad comes courtesy of some stars of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/marvel">Marvel</a> film, “Avengers: Endgame.” The staged phone call between the actors was posted to leftist activist Mark Ruffalo’s X page on Thursday.
Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Danai Gurira, Don Cheadle, and Paul Bettany participated in the project.
&#8220;We&#8217;re back. Let&#8217;s #AssembleForDemocracy. In the #ElectionEndgame, every <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2024-election">vote</a> counts,&#8221; Ruffalo wrote in the post caption. 
“Don’t sit this one out. By the end of the video, their suggested slogan had been revised to, &#8220;I’m Kamala Harris, and I am down with democracy.&#8221;
The social media mockery of the new ad was swift and fierce.
“Um, a little too much honesty here… Kamala Harris ‘tearing down democracy!’” Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz <a href="https://x.com/tedcruz/status/1852148187760410757">posted</a> on X.
“I believe we can safely say Vice President Kamala Harris has secured the Hollywood douchenozzle vote,” another reaction <a href="https://x.com/CarmineSabia/status/1852116791947927844">said</a>. 
This isn’t the first time these stars participated in a video supporting the Democratic candidate for president. In 2016, Downey Jr., Johansson, Ruffalo, and Cheadle joined other celebrities in an ad <a href="https://youtu.be/nRp1CK_X_Yw">attacking Donald Trump</a>. 
In that video, Cheadle described Trump as a &#8220;racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.&#8221;

The late-night host set it up by joking that “Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan didn’t have an internet connection so his “porn addiction” would not distract him while working. 
&#8220;Congratulations to [Cillian Murphy&#8217;s] costar Robert Downey Jr. This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.&#8217;s career,&#8221; Kimmel said. He paused and said, &#8220;Well, one of the highest points.&#8221;
The 58-year-old actor smiled at first and tapped his nose as the audience laughed along. The actor’s “Oppenheimer” costar, Emily Blunt, reached across to grab Downey Jr.&#8217;s shoulders in a show of support as he kept a tight smile on his face.
Kimmel responded to the nose-tap gesture, saying, &#8220;Was that too on the nose, or was that a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/drugs">drug</a> motion you made?&#8221;
RDJ then made a circling motion indicating the host should &#8220;wrap it up&#8221; and mouthed, &#8220;Keep it going,&#8221; as the camera stayed focused on him for several more seconds.
Kimmel followed that with another joke. &#8220;Look at this guy, he&#8217;s so handsome, so talented. He&#8217;s won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?&#8221; he quipped.
&#8220;Not even 20 years ago, things weren&#8217;t going that great for Robert. He played the villain and, correct me if I have this wrong, in a movie where Tim Allen turns into a dog?&#8221; At this point, Downey Jr. looks annoyed.

The 58-year-old was accepting the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Best Supporting Actor</a> award for his portrayal of villainous politician Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s highly lauded drama, “Oppenheimer.” Downey Jr. referenced the difference in this role compared to his best-known role as Tony Stark in the MCU.

The Golden Globe-winning actor made multiple appearances as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, between 2008 and 2019, playing the character in the &#8220;Iron Man&#8221; trilogy and all four &#8220;Avengers&#8221; films. He’s credited with helping make Marvel into a money-making machine.
Downey Jr. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/07/09/magazine/robert-downey-jr-interview-oppenheimer.html">told</a> The New York Times in 2023 that he’d been nervous about taking on the demanding “Oppenheimer” part due to the types of movies he’d been in previously.
&#8220;You start to wonder if a muscle you have hasn&#8217;t atrophied,&#8221; the actor told the outlet at the time. &#8220;I knew there was a point where Chris Nolan was endorsing, let&#8217;s work those other muscles, but let&#8217;s do it while rendering you devoid of your usual go-to things,&#8221; Downey Jr. added.
His remarks come on the heels of several high-profile superhero movie flops. This genre churned out massive hits for years, but recent releases have underperformed, leaving industry insiders wondering if audiences are sick of superhero films in general. 
In November, the female-led film “The Marvels” earned just $47 million domestically over opening weekend, making it the lowest-ever opening for a Marvel movie. And it’s not just the MCU suffering. “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was yet another box office disappointment for comic book films, bringing in just over $40 million over the extended four-day Christmas holiday weekend.

 The only Marvel release scheduled for 2024 is “Deadpool 3.” Upcoming DC projects include “Joker: Folie á Deux,” which will debut in November 2024, and “Superman: Legacy,” which will hit theaters in July 2025.

Actor Robert Downey Jr. admitted it was probably better that he did not win the Oscar when he was nominated for the best actor award three decades ago — for his performance in the 1993 biopic &#8220;Chaplin.&#8221;
The &#8220;Iron Man&#8221; star made the revelation on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; last week, just after the news broke that he had been nominated in the best supporting actor category for his turn as Admiral Lewis Strauss in the Christopher Nolan-directed &#8220;Oppenheimer&#8221; (2023).

The 58-year-old won for his part in the summer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">blockbuster</a> “Oppenheimer,” beating out contenders Sterling K. Brown for “American Fiction,” Robert De Niro for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Ryan Gosling for “Barbie,” Charles Melton for “May December,” and Mark Ruffalo for “Poor Things.”
Downey Jr. dug up some of the negative reviews from his past performances and shared them from the stage during Sunday’s broadcast of the awards show.
“I was thinking this morning, I love critics. … You know, they’ve given me such beautiful feedback, really just so many great moments, and some of it is so poetic,” he said, per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/robert-downey-reads-worst-reviews-acceptance-speech-critics-choice-awards-1235787865/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>. “I just want to share some of their thoughts with you over the years.”
“The first one is kind of like Haiku: ‘Sloppy, messy and lazy.’ The next one is more metaphoric: ‘Like Pee-Wee Herman emerging from a coma.’ This was from a Brit: ‘A puzzling waste of talent.’ And lastly, and this one lingered: ‘Amusing as a bed-locked fart,&#8217;” Downey Jr. continued.

He continued with a word of thanks for his “Oppenheimer” co-stars, whom he referred to as his “Oppenhomies.”
“Every day of filming was like having my ego’s ass handed to me at the door, and I think it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy,” he quipped.
The actor played Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s historical drama. Strauss was a trustee at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton and serves as the primary antagonist against Cillian Murphy’s titular character, J. Robert Oppenheimer, as he wrestles with the moral dilemma of creating the atomic bomb.
“Oppenheimer” raked in more than $955 million worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing film of 2023, the highest-grossing World War II-related film ever, the highest-grossing biographical film, and the second-highest-grossing R-rated film. 
The biographical thriller was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and eight Critics Choice Awards. It’s also expected to be announced as a nominee for the 96th Academy Awards.

Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robert-downey-jr">Robert Downey Jr.</a> had nothing but praise for his “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/watch/movies">Oppenheimer</a>” co-star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Cillian Murphy</a>, who he says sacrificed a lot for the role. 
Downey Jr., who plays Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss in the movie, said of Murphy, &#8220;I have never witnessed a greater sacrifice by a lead actor in my career.&#8221;
&#8220;He knew it was going to be a behemoth ask when [director Christopher Nolan] called him. But I think he also had the humility that is required to survive playing a role like this,&#8221; the Marvel star added during an interview with <a href="https://people.com/robert-downey-jr-costar-cillian-murphy-greatest-sacrifice-any-actor-exclusive-7564218">People</a>.

Actress Florence Pugh appears opposite Murphy in the film as Jean Tatlock, one of the major loves of Oppenheimer&#8217;s life. She had equally glowing things to say about the actor.
&#8220;Chris had one of the most incredible leads in Cillian,&#8221; she told the outlet. &#8220;He is an actor that I have been watching for quite some time and have been desperate to work with for ages. You’d have to be mad to say no. It was truly one of the best experiences that I’ve had.&#8221;
&#8220;Working with him was hugely impressive,&#8221; she went on. &#8220;Every single day he shows up knowing every single possible way, intonation, inflection of how to bring this character to life. That was hugely impressive to me. There&#8217;s a reason why he is one of the greats.&#8221;
Besides just learning the lines and mimicking the mannerisms of the real Oppenheimer, Murphy also went on an incredibly restrictive diet for the part. And he could only eat, like, an almond every day. He was so emaciated.”

Combined with international box office numbers, the film brought in a total of $174 million.
Murphy’s performance is getting a lot of attention specifically, with <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/jul/22/cillian-murphy-oppenheimer-peaky-blinders">reviewers</a> calling his performance “enigmatic” and “intense.”

The 58-year-old actor made the comments during an <a href="https://twitter.com/APEntertainment/status/1677370644068179968">interview</a> with The Associated Press.
The interviewer asked, “I was curious if you took away any, like, commentary on patriarchy and war?”
Downey Jr. replied, “Men start wars and the entire planet should be a matriarchy. But I’ve never changed position on that.”
“So you already had that going into this?” the interviewer asked.  
“Well, this was just a triple confirmation,” Downey Jr. said.
In the interview, the actor discussed why he was drawn to the drama about J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the man who invented the atomic bomb and oversaw the Manhattan Project.   
 “Context is so critical,&#8221; the actor <a href="https://apnews.com/video/movies-nuclear-weapons-christopher-nolan-robert-downey-jr-643a622770e844afaf5022125234e6f0">said</a>. &#8220;The timing of the Manhattan project, the need for it, the deployment of it, necessary or not, you can read plenty of data that would support either. But regardless, the &#8216;why&#8217; can be debated, but here we are now. That’s the cold, hard truth.”
“So being able, under Chris Nolan’s direction, to kind of invite the audience to be involved in this meditation, it’s kind of — we all know the films of the last 50 years that have kind of been important in that way, as well as [being] entertaining and thrilling and just cool to watch. And I guess that’s the transcendent thing about certain films, and I got to be in one.”

He ended up only serving a year, after getting early release in 2000 on the condition of posting bail, THR noted.

His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.&#8221;
During the interview, Foxx <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/08/17/jamie-foxx-cancel-culture-movie-robert-downey-jr-playing-mexican-man/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gave an update</a> on &#8220;All-Star Weekend&#8221; — the film he now believes might never make it into the hands of the public. The movie, a comedy that costars &#8220;Entourage&#8221; actor Jeremy Piven, is about two basketball fanatics who score tickets to a major NBA event. It was supposed to be released in 2019, but has been delayed.

A jury recently found that Heard defamed Depp in an op-ed about domestic violence published by The Washington Post in 2018, awarding him a total of $15 million in monetary damages, though it was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jury-awards-johnny-depp-15-million-but-hell-get-millions-less-heres-why">dropped</a> to a total of $10.35 million due to Virginia law.
Josh Richman, a close friend to Depp, said during a live-streamed charity event for the Children&#8217;s Hospital Los Angeles that Downey congratulated Depp after the verdict.
“John, thank God it’s over,” Downey told Depp on the FaceTime call, Richman said.
The call has been confirmed by a spokesperson for Depp, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/06/13/robert-downey-jr-congratulates-johnny-depp-after-trial-win/">reported</a>.
Back in May, unverified rumors circulated that Downey wanted Depp to be cast in &#8220;Sherlock Holmes 3,&#8221; according to FandomWire.
