An 11-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother operating a lemonade stand in Boston got a <a href="https://whdh.com/news/police-searching-for-suspects-accused-of-robbing-childrens-lemonade-stand-in-south-boston/">brutal lesson</a> in urban lawlessness Wednesday afternoon when a pair of juvenile suspects robbed them at gunpoint.
It was roughly 4:44 p.m. when the suspects first appeared, <a href="https://police.boston.gov/2026/06/11/bpd-seeking-public-assistance-following-armed-robbery-of-childrens-lemonade-stand-in-south-boston/">casing the stand</a> with multiple walk-bys before finally approaching the children and asking whether they accepted Apple Pay. Before the kids could even answer, one suspect snatched the cash box right out from under them. The other made sure there was no resistance — lifting his shirt to flash a black firearm tucked into his waistband. The two then fled on foot. The cash box was later found nearby, empty. The take: approximately $50.
The children&#8217;s father, Dave Byrne, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/south-boston-kids-lemonade-stand-robbed-gunpoint">described</a> what happened: “One of them said, ‘we don’t have any money, but we’re going to see if my mother will Venmo me the money so I can pay for it.’ Next thing you know, they came back and said, ‘we’re just going to take this,’ and they took my son’s and daughter’s – their money, bank that they had all their cash in. “They called me, I&#8217;m at work, they&#8217;re hysterical, saying, ‘someone just came with a gun and took all of our money,’” their mother Jennifer recounted. Byrne added, “My kids immediately just put their hands up and said &#8216;take whatever you want.&#8217; So, I&#8217;m proud of my kids for that and I&#8217;m proud of them for basically protecting each other, but also being smart in that bad situation.”
That pride, however, came wrapped in fury. “This is appalling, this is grotesque. This is something that should not happen to young kids,” Byrne said. “Can&#8217;t have a gun and can&#8217;t be robbing lemonade stands. It&#8217;s as easy as that.”
“The youngest one, my daughter, she was saying she’s scared to walk home from the bus stop, which is only two blocks away,” Jennifer noted.
Boston police released surveillance footage of the two juvenile suspects Thursday, and District C-6 detectives are actively investigating. No arrests have been made.
The story does have one redemptive note: City Councilor Ed Flynn announced that the stand will reopen Friday at 5:30 p.m, adding, “South Boston neighbors are helping these kids reopen their lemonade stand. Let&#8217;s show them how much love and support the Southie community has for them. It is also our understanding that 50% of proceeds will be donated to a local organization working to prevent gun violence.”

An 18-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting two U.S. Bank employees in Berea, Kentucky, before rifling through the teller drawers for cash and speeding off in his car.
Brailen Weaver of Covington, Kentucky, entered the bank at around 2:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, wearing a black mask and gloves, according to the <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/1033646042/BrailenWeaverAffidavit-Redacted?secret_password=6Pd48N8xJJIAk7EFw5t7#download&amp;from_embed">arrest affidavit</a>. Weaver shot and killed a male U.S. Bank employee right after walking into the branch and then gunned down a female teller before he searched through multiple drawers, the affidavit states.
The suspect fled the bank in a silver BMW sedan, which authorities tracked down after finding the same car listed for sale on Facebook by Weaver. Investigators then reviewed Weaver&#8217;s social media and found photos of him that matched the description of the suspect seen on the bank&#8217;s security cameras.
Weaver also posted a meme on Instagram just hours after he allegedly robbed the bank and killed two employees, according to the FBI. The meme depicts an alien holding a stash of $100 bills with the caption, &#8220;I pledge allegiance to da bag.&#8221;

On Thursday evening, authorities tracked Weaver to Somerset, Kentucky, which is about 40 miles southwest of Berea. A short time later, the FBI spotted Weaver&#8217;s vehicle on Interstate 75, and federal, state, and local law enforcement pursued the suspect in a high-speed chase.
The affidavit states that Weaver reached speeds of nearly 130 mph and dodged spike strips laid out in the road by law enforcement. The suspect eventually crashed as he was driving toward downtown Lexington, but escaped on foot. Authorities found a firearm in the suspect&#8217;s abandoned BMW. Weaver was finally arrested in downtown Lexington and faces federal charges of armed bank robbery and using/discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
&#8220;The perpetrator&#8217;s heinous actions were not only indefensible but cowardly,&#8221; <a href="https://www.wlwt.com/article/2-employees-killed-bank-robbery-berea-kentucky-suspect/71180865">said</a> Olivia Olson, the special agent in charge at the FBI&#8217;s Louisville field office. &#8220;While there is no longer imminent danger, we understand that the tragedy is far from over for the community. The only solace that we can offer is that this individual who valued a stolen dollar more than two human lives will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.&#8221;
The killings appear to be the first deadly shooting in a bank robbery in the United States since 2021, when a man <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndin/pr/gary-man-sentenced-2-consecutive-terms-life-prison">fatally shot</a> a security guard at a bank in Gary, Indiana, during an attempted robbery. In 2019, a 21-year-old man <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/former-prison-guard-trainee-is-sentenced-to-death-for-killing-5-women-at-a-florida-bank/">executed</a> five women at a SunTrust bank in Sebring, Florida. In that shooting, there was no indication that the gunman intended to rob the bank.
Bank robberies in the United States are becoming increasingly uncommon as banks improve security and hold less cash at any given time, reflecting society&#8217;s shift to digital payments.

Some Democrats answer that question with a resounding yes, but it leads one to wonder what happens to a society when the most basic forms of morality are at stake.
In a recent <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/22/opinion/shoplifting-political-protest-microlooting-whole-foods.html">episode</a> of The New York Times podcast “The Opinions,” leftist streamer Hasan Piker and New Yorker writer Jia Tolentino joined Times opinion editor Nadja Spiegelman to discuss a new kind of public expression — “Why petty theft might be the new political protest.”
The conversation began with a quick exercise on their moral code, in which Spiegelman asked questions such as “Would you dine and dash from your local diner?” and “Would you steal a book from the library?”
To these, Piker and Tolentino both responded “No.”
When asked, “Would you steal from the Louvre?” Piker said he thinks it&#8217;s &#8220;cool,&#8221; and that &#8220;we’ve got to get back to cool crimes like that: bank robberies, stealing priceless artifacts, things of that nature.”
From there, the conversation pivoted to the kind of growing socialist rhetoric where actions that used to be widely considered wrong are now justifiable: &#8220;Because the rich don’t play by the rules, so why should I?&#8221;
When Spiegelman asked, “Would you steal from Whole Foods?” the duo was almost gleeful in declaring that they had no reservations about doing so.
Tolentino proudly said she would, and admitted she regularly had, “I think that stealing from a big-box store — I’ll just state my platform — it’s neither very significant as a moral wrong, &#8230; But I didn’t feel bad about it at all,” she added. This is the same Tolentino who <a href="https://x.com/Daily_MailUS/status/2047050858055995511">owns</a> a $2 million house in Brooklyn.
Piker agreed, declaring he is “pro stealing from big corporations, because they steal quite a bit more from their own workers.” His defense is that stores already inflate prices with inevitable robbery in mind and still &#8220;end up having increased profit margins.&#8221;
The anti-capitalist who praises Hamas and believes America deserved 9/11 is also a millionaire who owns a nearly $3 million house in Los Angeles.
Though Piker admitted he himself does not steal, he added, “if someone needs the food, they should absolutely steal it.”
But when pressed whether the same mindset would apply to a Zohran Mamdani-run, city-owned grocery store with lower prices, apparently, the sentiment is markedly different.
&#8220;No, I would not, because I feel like that’s taxpayer-funded, it’s union labor, and the prices are also adjusted regardless,&#8221; Piker admitted.
Spiegelman further questioned the root of the new protest — anger at the wealthy. &#8220;What I’m seeing on TikTok and social media is people saying that they’re stealing from Whole Foods not just for the thrill of it, but out of a feeling of anger and moral justification.&#8221;
&#8220;I feel part of what I’m seeing around me is that people feel like the laws are immoral. The rich don’t play by the rules. We live in a society where there are billionaires; where the top 1% holds 32% of the net worth and the bottom 50% holds 2.5%.&#8221;
&#8220;So, at some point, if the laws don’t feel moral, do you start to question your own sense of having to abide by them?&#8221; Spiegelman asked.
To which Tolentino responded, &#8220;Of course.&#8221;

Another devastating blow to the European art world was unveiled after thieves broke into a private Italian museum, making off with three masterpieces in a heist last week that lasted only three minutes, officials said on Monday.
The robbery took place the night of March 22 at the Magnani Rocca Foundation in the Italian countryside near the city of Parma. The three stolen artworks by renowned French artists are worth roughly $10 million: “Les Poissons” by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, “Still Life with Cherries” by Paul Cézanne, and “Odalisque on the Terrace” by Henri Matisse. A fourth piece was abandoned at the scene, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/30/world/europe/parma-art-heist-renoir-matisse-cezanne-italy.html#:~:text=Paintings%20Worth%20Millions%20of%20Dollars,to%20the%20Italian%20news%20media.">according</a> to the New York Times.
Four hooded thieves reportedly entered the museum through the front door, where they snagged the art from the French Gallery on the first floor. After they were interrupted by the museum&#8217;s security system, the group then escaped across the gardens and climbed over a fence to freedom.

The museum <a href="https://time.com/article/2026/03/30/italy-museum-art-heist-renoir-cezanne-matisse/">believes</a> a &#8220;structured and organized&#8221; gang was responsible, though the heist was “not completed” because of the quick response from local authorities. There have been no arrests in the days since, and the museum has continued operating as usual.
A police spokesman told <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/30/style/magnani-rocca-art-heist-italy-scli-intl">CNN</a> the officials kept the heist a secret in hopes of catching the thieves if they returned.
It has been less than six months since the infamous Louvre heist transpired in Paris, France, where thieves stole $102 million worth of jewels and other items in the middle of the day. A lawyer for the foundation told CNN that the latest theft may have been inspired by the apparent &#8220;ease&#8221; of the previous crime.

Suspects have been arrested over the brazen jewelry heist at the Louvre, just as one of them was about to fly out of France, the Paris prosecutor said on Sunday.
Two men in their 30s and originally from the capital&#8217;s Seine-Saint-Denis suburb &#8211; which includes some of the country&#8217;s most deprived areas &#8211; were detained on Saturday evening, according to Le Parisien newspaper, which first broke the story.
They were known to French police and one of the suspects was about to fly to Algeria from Charles de Gaulle airport, the newspaper said.
There was no indication on Sunday that any of France&#8217;s stolen crown jewels had been recovered.
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau did not say how many people were arrested or give any more details about them. In a statement, she deplored the fact that information about their arrest was leaked.
&#8220;This revelation can only hinder the investigative efforts of the 100 or so mobilised investigators, both in the search for the stolen jewelry and for all the perpetrators. It is too early to provide any specific details,&#8221; Beccuau said.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, under public pressure to deliver results a week to the day after the robbery, congratulated investigators in a tweet, but gave no more detail.

They broke in using a crane to smash an upstairs window during opening hours and escaped on motorbikes.
News of the robbery reverberated around the world, prompting soul-searching in France over what some regarded as a national humiliation.
The stolen treasures included a tiara and an earring from the jewelry of Queen Marie-Amélie and Queen Hortense from the early 19th century.
The crown of Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, was found damaged outside the museum. The thieves apparently dropped the piece, made of gold, emeralds and diamonds, as they made their getaway.
Built in the late 12th century, the Louvre Palace used to be the official residence of the kings of France, until Louis XIV abandoned it for Versailles. It was turned into a museum for the royal art collection in 1793, four years after the French Revolution.
Its huge collection of masterpieces, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue, brought in 8.7 million visitors last year.

A band of thieves broke into the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday, making off with elegant and historically significant pieces of jewelry of “incalculable” value, France’s interior minister said.
In a heist that lasted seven minutes, a group of thieves used a motorized lift on a side of the museum that is under construction to rise above the ground floor. They entered the museum through a window using a glass cutter, according to the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cg7nrlkg0zxo">BBC</a>.
Once inside, the thieves threatened security guards, who left the area, before breaking into display cases, grabbing the jewelry, and fleeing the scene on two scooters. Nobody was harmed in the heist, which French Culture Minister Rachida Dati described as “very professional.”

The stolen items were from the museum’s Apollo Gallery, which houses the crown jewels of past royals of France. The thieves snatched tiaras, earrings, and other items that together contain thousands of diamonds and other jewels.
The stolen items include a tiara, decorative bow, and brooch from Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III. The tiara alone includes 212 pearls, 1,998 diamonds, and 992 rose-cut diamonds, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/19/world/europe/louvre-heist-items.html">The New York Times</a>.
A sapphire set consisting of a matching tiara, necklace, and earrings were also stolen. The set is of unknown origin, but was worn by royals such as Queen Hortense, the wife of Louis Bonaparte. Queen Marie-Amélie, the wife of Louis Philippe I, also wore the set. The pieces together include 24 Ceylon sapphires, which only <a href="https://deliqagems.com/pages/what-is-ceylon-sapphire?srsltid=AfmBOoqIX_AYcDceCAj4IG1B0VKKoQP7QOUlYcoqjuhWpfK4GPslwlhh">come</a> from Sri Lanka, and 1,083 diamonds.
The bandits also made off with an emerald and diamond necklace presented by Napoleon to his second wife, Marie Louise, as a wedding gift for their marriage in 1810. The necklace includes 32 emeralds and 1,138 diamonds. Included in the Louvre’s set was also a pair of matching earrings that the thieves also stole.
French President Emmanuel Macron pledged in a <a href="https://x.com/EmmanuelMacron/status/1979972585094807626">post</a> on social media that the jewelry would be recovered and the thieves brought to justice. He also said a new “renaissance” project to update the Louvre includes updates that have strengthened the museum’s security.

This past week, for example, an armed gang of up to <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/09/25/us-news/wild-video-shows-huge-mob-storming-california-jewelry-store-in-1m-raid/">30 people</a> raided a jewelry store outside of San Francisco. They smashed cases with crowbars and pickaxes and stole around $1 million dollars worth of goods. Due to new security measures that had to be taken after a 2023 robbery, the suspects were locked inside – but they used guns and shot their way out of the store.
So far, authorities have arrested seven suspects; they’re all from Oakland and range in age from 17 to 31. Law enforcement believes these are repeat offenders.
Two similar robberies took place in just the past couple of weeks. One of the targets was a Bay Area shop called Kim Hung Jewelry. In that case, a car crashed through the store and more than a dozen masked robbers smashed display cases and stole merchandise. The 88-year-old store owner was shoved to the ground, suffered a stroke, and was cut by broken glass. 
&#8220;He is okay,&#8221; a family friend <a href="https://abc7chicago.com/post/san-jose-california-robbery-88-year-old-man-assaulted-during-brazen-smash-grab-jewelry-heist-police-say-video/17780018/">told</a> ABC 7 News. &#8220;Business is not okay. Everyone knows that situation right now. Every business is in danger.”
Scott Guginsky, VP of the Jewelers Security Alliance, spoke to ABC7 about this trend and said he&#8217;s “never seen this level of violence.”
&#8220;Since March, we&#8217;ve had 30 violent robberies in California targeting jewelry stores,&#8221; he <a href="https://abc7news.com/post/30-violent-mob-style-jewelry-store-robberies-california-march/17879612/">said</a>. &#8220;This is something I haven&#8217;t seen in my 30-plus years of investigating jewelry crime with the NYPD.”
President Donald Trump has become determined to lower crime rates, particularly in some Democrat-run cities, specifically cited Los Angeles and Oakland, where crime is a major issue. Just last month, U.S. News &amp; World Report <a href="https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/oakland-most-dangerous-places-us-list/3935868/">ranked</a> Oakland as the second <a href="https://realestate.usnews.com/places/rankings/most-dangerous-places">most dangerous city</a> in the nation – only second to Memphis, another city targeted by Trump. The rankings are based on FBI crime rates, specifically murder and property crime for every 100,000 people.
Gov. Newsom, though, has <a href="https://www.gov.ca.gov/2025/08/12/icymi-californias-homicide-violent-crime-rates-down-amid-trumps-continued-assault-on-states-nationwide/">pushed back</a> on this and claims California&#8217;s crime is under control and not an issue. Moreover, he&#8217;s focusing most of his attention on Trump&#8217;s efforts to battle crime and arrest people who are in the country illegally &#8212; including people from Newsom&#8217;s &#8220;sanctuary state.&#8221; 
On Tuesday night, Newsom generated much criticism for how he described U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers during an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s left-wing late-night show.
“Masked men jumping out of unmarked cars, people disappearing,&#8221; Newsom claimed. &#8220;No due process. No oversight, zero accountability happening in the United States of America today.&#8221;
&#8220;People ask, well, is &#8216;authoritarianism&#8217; you being hyperbolic? Bulls*** we&#8217;re being hyperbolic. Over the weekend, Newsom signed a law banning ICE agents from wearing masks while making arrests. Some agents currently mask to protect their identities, considering all the threats and violence against them. Assaults on ICE agents, for instance, have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reprehensible-assaults-on-ice-agents-skyrocket-up-830-over-last-year">jumped 830%</a> compared to a year ago.
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin called the new law “despicable” and “a flagrant attempt to endanger” federal officers.
Agency sources have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nice-try-gavin-newsom-cant-stop-ice-agents-from-wearing-masks-sources-say">told The Daily Wire</a> that the new law isn’t going to stop them from masking. “Nice try by Newsom, but he knows it doesn’t apply to federal agents,&#8221; one source said. &#8220;He loves stirring the pot so that people find more ways to bring conflict to ICE.”

Macklemore, a rapper best known for the 2012 song “Thrift Shop,” was the victim of a home invasion at his Seattle residence over the weekend while his children and nanny were there. 
According to the police report, two men allegedly entered the residence just after midnight on Saturday morning. A woman later identified as the family nanny was able to escape and call 911 after she was hit with a blast of bear spray. 
“She escaped, but three children were still inside the house,” the report said, per <a href="https://people.com/macklemore-seattle-home-reportedly-robbed-3-children-inside-cops-11751678">People</a>. “[The caller] also added that the house belonged to a high-profile individual.”
The woman claims the intruders yelled at her, asking, “Where are the jewels, b*tch?” She then said she brought them to a bedroom and observed as the thieves “went through drawers, cabinets and raided the closet full of clothing, jewelry, and shoes.”
Social media users are pointing out the hypocrisy of police being dispatched to his home during a crisis after the rapper released the song “Hind’s Hall” last year, which was critical of law enforcement and referred to police officers as “actors with badges.”
The report also noted that the nanny believed the attack was “politically motivated for some reason.”
The 41-year-old recording artist, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, shares three children with his wife. The family lives in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. 
Macklemore was in Ireland at the time of the alleged break-in, per <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/06/10/macklemore-seattle-home-burglary-nanny-bear-maced/">TMZ</a>.
Macklemore&#8217;s anti-police single is also explicitly anti-Israel.
“Block the barricade until Palestine is free/When I was seven, I learned a lesson from Cube and Eazy-E,” the lyrics say. “What was it again? Oh yeah, f** the police/Actors in badges protecting property/And a system that was designed by white supremacy.”
The song was also critical of former President Joe Biden. &#8220;The blood is on your hands Biden, we can see it all,&#8221; the lyrics said. &#8220;And f*** no, I’m not voting for you in the fall.&#8221;
In 2023, at an anti-Israel rally in Washington, D.C., Macklemore took the stage and told the crowd, “I don’t know enough, but I know enough that this is a genocide,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rapper-slammed-after-encouraging-crowd-to-chant-fk-america">reported</a>.  Macklemore made headlines in 2024 for encouraging a crowd at a Seattle concert to chant, &#8220;F*** America.&#8221;

Reality star Kim Kardashian, 44, testified at the trial for individuals accused of being involved in a 2016 robbery in Paris.
The social media influencer took the stand and described her experience of being held at gunpoint in her hotel room, saying, &#8220;I absolutely did think I was gonna die,&#8221; per <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/live/ce81drd3m6gt">BBC News</a>. Kardashian also described what happened, saying she was wearing nothing but a robe when she was tied up by the assailants.
She said her robe opened when one of the men was handling her, “exposing everything” on her body.
&#8220;They threw me on the bed and the smaller one started to tie my hands,&#8221; she said during the testimony. &#8220;I started to freak out.&#8221;
&#8220;I was sure that I was going to be raped,” Kardashian testified before adding that at that point, her legs were tied together.
The celebrity said she kept repeating, &#8220;I have babies and I need to get home to my babies,&#8221; to the men. Kardashian said she believes one told her to “shut up” at one point, the outlet noted.
&#8220;Then they tied me up and I was hysterical. When he was about to tape my mouth, he leaned toward me and said in English &#8216;shh&#8217; and &#8216;you’ll be OK.'&#8221;
She recalled continuing to fear for her life and being worried for the safety of her mother Kris Jenner and her sister Kourtney, who were with her on the trip, but not in the room at the time of the burglary.
&#8220;At that point, I was sure that&#8217;s when they were going to shoot me,&#8221; Kardashian said, according to the BBC. &#8220;So I said a prayer for my family and my mom and my sister and best friend.&#8221;
She said she believed she &#8220;would be shot dead on the bed and [Kourtney] would see that and have that memory forever.&#8221;
Kardashian added that after the men made away with jewelry worth nearly $9 million, they left her tied up on the bathroom floor. She didn’t try to escape for a while until she knew they were truly gone.
The social media influencer said she used to feel safe in Paris, but now travels with four to six bodyguards everywhere she goes.
The men on trial are part of a group that’s referred to as the &#8220;Grandpa robbers&#8221; by French media due to how old they were at the time, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/world/europe/kim-kardashian-testify-grandpa-robbers-paris-trial-9m-jewelry-heist-rcna206243">NBC News</a>.
One of the suspects, Yunice Abbas, 71, has publicly admitted to being involved in the robbery. He is also co-author of the 2021 book “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian,” a title which he later said he didn’t choose.
Most of Kardashian’s stolen jewelry was never recovered, the outlet noted. 
The men were arrested three months after the robbery occurred, but the legal process has been plagued by delays and due to the age of the accused, not all of them are physically able to stand trial. One suspect died before the case went to court.

A Florida man has been charged with robbery after he asked a bank teller to withdraw one cent.
Michael Fleming, 41, was arrested on June 29 after he entered a Chase Bank and filled out a withdrawal slip for one cent, according to <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24793410-mp-fleming-affidavit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his arrest report</a>. When Fleming handed the slip to the bank teller, he was told his request could not be fulfilled.
Fleming allegedly then responded: “So you want me to say the other word?” It is assumed this &#8220;other word,&#8221; he was referring to was &#8220;robbery.&#8221;
The bank teller realized what was going on and became afraid that Fleming could become violent and notified law enforcement. Sheriff’s deputies received a call just before 2 p.m. about an “in-progress robbery.” Fleming was still in the building when law enforcement arrived and was taken into custody without incident.
During a recorded interview, Fleming allegedly told authorities that he had first gone to a Citizens First Bank to make the withdrawal, but it was closed so he drove to the Chase Bank branch.
Fleming told law enforcement, “Most of the time, the way tellers are trained, if someone comes in to rob you, you give them the money and let them go.” He also allegedly told police that he expected the teller to give him the penny and said he would then sit in a chair and wait for law enforcement. He said that even though he didn’t receive anything from the teller, he still waited in the lobby for authorities, saying his goal was to be arrested.
Fleming received no money from the bank, and doesn’t even have an account with Chase, the arrest affidavit said.
Even though Fleming only asked for a penny and received nothing, he has still been charged with felony bank robbery without a weapon. The relevant Florida statute defines &#8220;robbery&#8221; as &#8220;the taking of money or other property which may be the subject of larceny from the person or custody of another, with intent to either permanently or temporarily deprive the person or the owner of the money or other property, when in the course of the taking there is the use of force, violence, assault, or putting in fear.&#8221;
If, in committing a robbery, the suspect didn&#8217;t use a weapon, then they are charged with a second-degree felony.
Fleming was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center, where he was booked and processed. He has no previous convictions for robbery.
Since his arrest, Fleming has qualified as indigent and was granted a court-appointed attorney, Law &amp; Crime <a href="https://lawandcrime.com/crime/you-want-me-to-say-the-other-word-florida-man-arrested-after-allegedly-trying-to-withdraw-1-cent-from-bank/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, and his bond has been set at $5,000.
It is unclear at this time why Fleming wanted to be arrested, or how he knew how tellers are trained if he didn’t have previous convictions for robbery.

&#8220;General Hospital&#8221; actor Johnny Wactor was shot and killed early Saturday morning during what appeared to be an attempted robbery of his parked car. He was 37 years old.
According to a <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/05/26/general-hospital-actor-johnny-wactor-dead-shot-killed-robbery-attempt-car-catalytic-converter/?adid=social-tw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> published Sunday by TMZ, the actor&#8217;s mother Scarlett told the outlet he had been out with one of his coworkers in downtown Los Angeles when they saw several people who appeared to be doing something to Wactor&#8217;s car. The outlet noted that police had also reported — without mentioning any names — an incident in the vicinity around that same time that involved three suspects who were allegedly after a catalytic converter.
Wactor, according to his mother, did not try to stop the alleged thieves — but they still shot at him as they fled the scene. TMZ reported that paramedics reached the scene around 3 a.m. local time, but that Wactor was pronounced dead upon his arrival at the hospital.
The actor, who appeared in more than 200 episodes of the daytime drama, also appeared on &#8220;NCIS,&#8221; &#8220;Criminal Minds,&#8221; and got his start on Lifetime&#8217;s &#8220;Army Wives.&#8221; He leaves behind his mother and two younger brothers: Lance, and Grant.
Fans and friends took to X to share tributes to the young actor, praising him both for his talent and for his humility and kindness.

Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/adam-schiff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Adam Schiff</a> (D-CA) was robbed in San Francisco on Thursday before attending a dinner with wealthy backers of his Senate campaign, which caused him to show up to the event without a suit, <a href="https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/car-burglars-snatch-rep-adam-schiff-s-luggage-19424026.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Chronicle reported that car thieves stole Schiff’s luggage, including his clothes, before he was set to speak at a dinner attended by lawyer Joe Cotchett, who is supporting Schiff’s Senate run against Republican candidate Steve Garvey. The race will determine who will occupy the seat occupied by Dianne Feinstein before she died. 
“Yes, they took my bags,” Schiff told the Chronicle when asked about the theft of his bag from a vehicle in a downtown San Francisco parking garage. “But I’m here to thank Joe.”

Cotchett, a top Democratic <a href="https://www.opensecrets.org/search?order=desc&amp;q=joseph+cotchett&amp;sort=N&amp;type=donors">donor,</a> praised Schiff after the dinner, saying he would “change” the Senate. 
“Adam really showed himself tonight,” Cotchett said. “He’ll be a great senator — he’s going to change the Senate tremendously.”
The dinner took place at the Ristorante Rocca, an Italian restaurant in Burlingame, a city near San Francisco. 
“I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco,’” Cotchett’s press agent Lee Houskeeper told the Chronicle. Houskeeper added that Schiff could maybe go out shopping for new suits with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. 
“Maybe he can go out with Willie Brown to choose a new suit from one of the many fine clothing establishments in San Francisco,” he added.  “Willie knows them all.”

The robbery comes as San Francisco has been riddled with crime in recent years after it moved to defund the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd. In July 2020, Mayor London Breed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sf-democrat-mayor-london-breed-after-backing-defunding-police-reverses-need-aggressive-policing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indicated</a> that the city would be moving $100 million from the San Francisco Police Department to social justice programs. Breed later backtracked on her support for defunding the police, saying in December 2021 that the city needed to be tougher on crime. 
“It’s time that the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,” Breed said. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement, more aggressive with the changes in our policies, and less tolerant of all the bulls**t that has destroyed our city, we are going to turn this around.”
