&#8220;Curb Your Enthusiasm&#8221; executive producer Jeff Schaffer talked about the greatness of the late <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/richard-lewis">Richard Lewis</a> and revealed that he would appear in two more episodes in the series&#8217; final season.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Shaffer said Lewis, who died last month at the age of 76, had previously filmed scenes with co-creator Larry David that will appear in Season 12.
&#8220;The thing about Richard is that everyone knows how funny he was,&#8221; Schaffer said. &#8220;But I want people to know also that he was the sweetest, kindest man. Everyone loved him. He loved being on the show. He will be missed.&#8221;

&#8220;Three weeks to the day before he passed, we shot with him,&#8221; Schaffer said. &#8220;He looked great. He was moving around way better than he was when we were shooting the rest of the season.&#8221;
&#8220;He was just excited and it was great,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It was a bit of a shock. I&#8217;d say his body may have betrayed him, but his wit never wavered the entire time.&#8221;
&#8220;He said he wasn&#8217;t going to do standup again or tour anymore, obviously due to health reasons,&#8221; Schaffer continued. &#8220;But he never stopped coming up with jokes. He was funny every minute he was on set.&#8221;
Schaffer said Lewis, who was honored in an opening title card in the March 3 episode, would appear in the eighth episode and the series finale.
&#8220;No one has seen the last of Richard Lewis,&#8221; Schaffer explained.

Last April, Lewis announced that he was retiring from standup comedy and had been diagnosed with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/curb-your-enthusiasm-star-richard-lewis-reveals-he-has-parkinsons-disease">Parkinson&#8217;s disease</a>.
On February 28, <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/richard-lewis-dead-comedian-curb-your-enthusiasm-1235925744/">Variety</a> magazine confirmed Lewis&#8217; death following a <a href="https://x.com/BetteMidler/status/1762937842991530132?s=20">post</a> on X from actress Bette Midler, who wrote, &#8220;On a sad note, the great Richard Lewis has died.&#8221;

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/larry-david">Larry David</a> posted a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and colleague <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/richard-lewis">Richard Lewis</a>, who passed away this week.
“Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me,” David wrote in a statement shared by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">HBO</a>, per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/larry-david-tribute-richard-lewis-curb-your-enthusiasm-1235925761/">Variety</a>. “He had that rare combination of being the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedian">funniest</a> person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.”
Lewis played a fictionalized version of himself opposite David in the long-running comedy series. 
“Comedian/Actor Richard Lewis passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles last night after suffering a heart attack,” Lewis&#8217; rep <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/legendary-comedian-richard-lewis-dead-at-76">shared</a> in a statement on Wednesday. “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship and support and asks for privacy at this time,” the statement continued.
The news comes almost one year after Lewis announced that he was retiring from stand-up comedy after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
“For the last three-and-a-half years, I’ve had sort of a rocky time,” Lewis said in a video he posted on social media in April 2023.
“I went to a neurologist and they gave me a brain scan and I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and that was about two years ago,” he added. “But luckily I got it late in life and they say you progress very slowly if at all and I’m on the right meds so I’m cool.”
Lewis and David discussed the reality of death in an episode of “Curb” which aired shortly before Lewis’ death this week.

“I’m leaving you in my will. I’m tweaking it, and you’re in it,” Lewis said in the episode, which aired February 18. David got annoyed at the prospect, saying he didn’t need the money.
“When I die, I want you to know how much I cared about you,” Lewis said. “You’re my best friend. You’re getting it.”
David kept insisting against it, but Lewis won out, saying it was happening anyway. David finally replied by saying, “Oh my God, f*** you.”
Later in the episode, David accused Lewis of making the gesture just so David would reciprocate. This led to them arguing about who would live longer.
“I’m going to outlive you by 20 years,” David told his friend.

&#8220;I just wanted to let you know that&#8217;s where it&#8217;s been at,&#8221; the comedian said at the end of the video. &#8220;I&#8217;m just focusing on writing and acting. I have Parkinson&#8217;s disease but I&#8217;m under a doctor&#8217;s care and everything is cool. I love my wife, I love my little puppy dog and I love all my friends and my fans. And now you know where it&#8217;s been at the last three and a half years. God bless you.&#8221;

Lewis became famous as a stand-up comedian in the 1980s, gaining a reputation for dark and self-deprecating humor. He is known for co-starring alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in the sitcom &#8220;Anything but Love&#8221; and for his role in the comedy &#8220;Robin Hood: Men in Tights.&#8221; The comedian plays a fictionalized version of himself on &#8220;Curb Your Enthusiasm.&#8221;
Lewis is survived by his wife Joyce, whom he married in 2005. The comedian did not have any children.
