In the hyper-leftist enclave of Providence, Rhode Island, the &#8220;Creative Capital&#8221; has apparently decided that some victims are more equal than others. Mayor Brett Smiley and State Representative David Morales, both Democrats, have joined forces demanding the removal of a mural honoring Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was brutally murdered in August 2025.
And why? She was not the right kind of victim for the leftist narrative.

Zarutska’s story is a harrowing indictment of the &#8220;soft-on-crime&#8221; policies plaguing American cities. After fleeing the Russian invasion of her homeland in 2022 to seek safety in the United States, she was stabbed to death while commuting home on a Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail train. Her assailant, DeCarlos Dejuan Brown Jr., was a repeat offender with 14 prior arrests — including armed robbery — and was reportedly riding the train without a ticket. Surveillance footage captured the horrific moment he stabbed the Zarutska in the neck, chest, and knee, then casually walked away.

But according to the leftist Providence political establishment, memorializing this innocent woman is &#8220;divisive&#8221; and &#8220;misguided.&#8221; Smiley claimed, &#8220;The murder of the individual depicted in this mural was a devastating tragedy, but the misguided, isolating intent of those funding murals like the one across the country is divisive and does not represent Providence. I continue to encourage our community to support local artists whose work brings us closer together rather than divides us.&#8221;

Morales, who is running for mayor, <a href="https://turnto10.com/news/local/providence-mayor-smiley-calls-for-removal-of-controversial-mural-honoring-slain-refugee-march-29-2026">echoed</a>, &#8220;We’re seeing a right-wing movement that is exploiting the death of the refugee for the purposes of trying to spread division.&#8221;
&#8220;Ultimately, we want to make sure that every community member that calls Providence home feels safe &#8230; and we can both agree that this mural behind us does not reflect Providence&#8217;s values,&#8221; he continued.
The real &#8220;sin&#8221; here isn&#8217;t the artwork itself; it’s the fact that the project received funding from billionaire Elon Musk and has been highlighted by President Donald Trump to illustrate the deadly consequences of lawlessness.
The irony is thick enough to choke on. While Providence officials scramble to scrub the image of a slain refugee from the side of an LGBTQ+ club, they have spent years falling over themselves to celebrate George Floyd, a man who had a lengthy criminal record. Providence has played host to multiple tributes to Floyd, including a prominent mural and an &#8220;<a href="https://turnto10.com/news/local/crews-paint-all-black-lives-matter-on-providence-street">All Black Lives Matter</a>&#8221; street installation.
The owners of The Dark Lady, the LGBT club where the mural is located, released a statement apologizing:

“As the artist I’m very saddened to hear that the mayor is calling for the art work to be removed before I was allowed to finish speaking,” artist Ian Gaudreau, who created the mural, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DWftc3GjpN1/">wrote</a> on Instagram. “I would like everyone to know that the artwork is meant to combat the idea of it being used for a political agenda. I want the Mural to humanize Iryna. The blue shape Motif that I use in my paintings references each individuals point of view, in this painting they wrap around Irina (sic) as if they are strangling her and yet she still shines through. I hope that this is what people will take away and put aside all of the political vitriol. Iryna Zarutska was a human being with a mother and father, who are still with us and still grieving.”
By forcing the removal of Zarutska’s mural, Smiley, Morales, and the Left aren&#8217;t &#8220;fostering unity.&#8221; They are practicing a form of ideological cleansing, signaling that if your death exposes the failures of their preferred policies, you will be erased.

The gender-confused man who murdered his wife and son at a Rhode Island hockey game defended men in women’s bathrooms, said transgender people go “BESERK” when criticized, and urged the Right to welcome “conservative trans people,” a review of his social media reveals 
The X posts of shooter Robert Dorgan, who called himself &#8220;Roberta,&#8221; suggest that he adhered to a disjointed belief system that blended transgender ideology, Jew hatred, Nazi iconography, and pornography, as well as some standard conservative views. The posts give a picture of Dorgan’s twisted mental state in the weeks leading up to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/transgender-identifying-man-opens-fire-at-rhode-island-hockey-game-killing-two">deadly attack</a> at a high school hockey game in Pawtucket.
During the attack, Dorgan killed himself, his ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan and their adult son, Aidan, and left Rhonda Dorgan&#8217;s parents and family friend Thomas Geruso injured. Court records from 2020 <a href="https://www.wpri.com/target-12/pawtucket-shooters-gender-identity-tied-to-past-family-disputes-court-records-show/">show</a> that Dorgan’s wife filed for divorce, initially citing “gender reassignment surgery, narcissistic + personality disorder traits” as the reason before crossing them out and writing “irreconcilable differences.”
Just one day before he opened fire in Pawtucket, Dorgan posted on X that transgender people go &#8220;berserk&#8221; because of criticism of their identity. 
Responding to Christian actor Kevin Sorbo’s post on X that transgender-identifying Rep. “Sarah” McBride was a man, Dorgan <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2023184227240730760">posted</a>, &#8220;Keep bashing us. but do not wonder why we Go BERSERK.” He <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2023182462449582173">added</a> in another post, “Go f your mutha.”
After Alex Jones responded to Sorbo’s post by saying, “creepy,” Dorgan wrote, “stfu Alex dont be so butt hurtt over somebody different. then wonder why trans ppl go fkn BERSERK.”
The shooting comes just days after a transgender-identifying man <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/youtube-confirms-trans-themed-page-is-linked-to-canada-mass-shooting-suspect">opened fire</a> at a school in Canada, killing six people at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia. Transgender-identifying shooters also carried out deadly attacks on Christian schools in Nashville in 2023 and in Minneapolis in 2025. In the aftermath of the Minneapolis shooting, officials in the Justice Department began considering a ban on gun ownership for transgender-identifying people.

Other posts from Dorgan show him telling conservatives to compromise on transgender ideology and discussing how his wife did not approve of his decision to identify as a woman. 
In September 2018, Dorgan shared an article called “What Is It Like Being Married To A Transgender Woman.” Dorgan <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/1044966909031174144">wrote</a>, “My wife says she Hates the person who stole her husband. I think it&#8217;s extremely important to take special care of those who stand by us. Listen and understand what they are going through for our sake!”
In another <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/1126645396061683717">post</a> from May 2019, he wrote, “Transwoman, 6 kids: wife- not thrilled.”
Dorgan called the young woman <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/detransitioner-awarded-millions-in-first-malpractice-verdict-this-is-how-it-all-ends">who won</a> $2 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit after she had her breasts removed at age 16 because she identified as a boy a “jerk” and an “a hole.”

Dorgan also downplayed concerns about men going into women’s bathrooms because of their gender confusion.

He also <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2022022364498997304">appeared</a> to claim that historical figures like Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and King James <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2020871905834602867">were</a> all gay. 
Dorgan claimed to be a conservative, and he frequently shared posts from conservative figures like White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, undercover journalist James O’Keefe, and others. 
More posts show Dorgan <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2018805971515269485">claiming</a> that he was conservative because he hated taxes, abortion, and supported the Second Amendment. “My gripe is the knee jerk reaction that ‘ALL’ lgbt are ‘D’,” he wrote.

Dorgan frequently shared posts from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R), and often interacted with posts related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 
At the same time, he frequently shared clips of white nationalist Nick Fuentes speaking, <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2022671035536150787">calling</a> Fuentes “sXe.”
One post he shared <a href="https://x.com/TheRISEofROD/status/2002252987750604990">claimed</a> that the “Jews killed Charlie,” and another wildly <a href="https://x.com/cirnosad/status/1966349804830863721">asserted</a> that Israel orchestrated Kirk’s assassination so that Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro could take over Turning Point USA. 
The suspect accused of assassinating Kirk had a trans-identifying romantic partner. 
Other posts <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2022304728915353966">alluded</a> to American neonazi William Pierce, praised music videos <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2020665366846804138">glorifying</a> the Nazis, and suggested he <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2021587533243515352">embraced</a> “world wide white pride.” In October 2024, he <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/1849107125592523025">wrote</a> that he was “post op” transgender and “to the right of Hitler.” 
Photos on social media circulating of Dorgan appeared to show he had Nazi-affiliated tattoos. 
He frequently commented on pornographic posts at the same time as he obsessed about the influence of Jeffrey Epstein. One disturbing photo he shared on X showed Dorgan posing in a thong while standing outside admiring a motorcycle. 
Law enforcement said that Dorgan had two guns on him, a Glock 10 mm and a SIG Sauer P226. In a post from January 31, 2026, he <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2017636206184456606">boasted</a> about having a 10mm 357SIG. Ironically, he <a href="https://x.com/Tgirlcuda/status/2015466436819288117">wrote</a> on January 25, 2025, less than one month before the shooting, that “rational, thinking, people realize that there are certain places you’re simply not allowed to carry.”
Family members have come out and said that the shooting was motivated by anger at his family. 
“I just want to make sure people understand this was one person’s vendetta against their family,” Amanda Wallace-Hubbard, Dorgan’s daughter, <a href="https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news/blackstone-valley/this-was-one-persons-vendetta-daughter-speaks-out-on-pawtucket-suspect/">told</a> WPRI.  
“We were targeted,” she added. “This was very specific. It wasn’t random.&#8221;

Tragic new details have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/transgender-identifying-man-opens-fire-at-rhode-island-hockey-game-killing-two">emerged</a> following Monday’s deadly shooting at a Rhode Island ice rink. 
Friends and family had gathered for a high school hockey game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Shortly after the game started, a lone gunman who identified as transgender descended from the back row of the bleachers and opened fire, killing his ex-wife and his son, and injuring at least three others, including his father and mother-in-law — all three victims are in critical condition. A livestream from the game captured the shooting and showed the players drop their sticks as they realized what was unfolding, as panicked spectators also attempted to flee. Rather than running for safety, one heroic bystander instead rushed the shooter. The video shows him jumping on top of the gunman and bringing an end to the carnage. Police later praised that man, saying his actions “led to a swift end to this tragic event.” During the ensuing scuffle, the gunman ultimately took his own life. 
Hours later, one of the gunman’s daughters spoke briefly with reporters and <a href="https://x.com/WCVB/status/2023544634216005773?s=20">said</a> her father had “mental health issues.”
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Iran Talks</h2>
The United States and Iran held nuclear talks in Geneva on Tuesday, and both sides are reporting progress.

Two people were killed and at least three others critically injured after a man who identifies as a woman opened fire at a high school hockey game in Rhode Island.
Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2kkgm-QJmU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> in a Monday evening press conference that Robert Dorgan, who goes by the name Roberta Esposito, killed himself after what she said was likely a targeted shooting stemming from a family dispute. A <a href="https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/2023568697302880622?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clip</a> circulating on social media appears to show Dorgan&#8217;s daughter leaving a police station and telling reporters that her father &#8220;shot my family&#8221; and &#8220;he&#8217;s dead now.&#8221; The woman added that Dorgan &#8220;has mental health issues,&#8221; and &#8220;was very sick.&#8221;
Court records from 2020 <a href="https://www.wpri.com/target-12/pawtucket-shooters-gender-identity-tied-to-past-family-disputes-court-records-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirm</a> that Dorgan had undergone gender reassignment surgery. Dorgan claimed to North Providence Police at the time that his father-in-law attempted to throw him out of the house following his surgery. Around that time, Dorgan&#8217;s wife filed for divorce, initially citing “gender reassignment surgery, narcissistic + personality disorder traits&#8221; as the reason before crossing them out and writing &#8220;irreconcilable differences.&#8221;
Authorities have not publicly identified the victims, nor have they confirmed the precise relationships involved in the apparent family dispute. Police have also not released information about the weapon used.
This is the latest shooting perpetrated by a transgender-identifying attacker. Transgender-identifying shooters perpetrated deadly attacks on schools in Nashville in 2023 and in Minneapolis in 2025. The latter attack was the subject of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-last-questions-charlie-kirk-answered-were-about-a-trans-gun-ban-that-initiative-is-stalled" target="_blank" rel="noopener">last question</a> Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was asked when he was assassinated in September.
Kirk&#8217;s killer, Tyler Robinson, was, at the time of the attack, living with his &#8220;transgender partner,&#8221; a man named Lance Twiggs, who identifies as a woman. As The Daily Wire&#8217;s Mary Margaret Olohan reported this week, though the Trump administration was reportedly considering a ban on gun ownership for transgender-identifying people in the wake of the Minneapolis shooting, that ban has seemingly stalled. A source familiar with the Trump administration’s thinking said that the topic is not something that they have heard discussed since The Daily Wire’s original reporting in September.
Monday&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/SpencerHakimian/status/2023516920973316389" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shooting</a> occurred at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena during a game involving multiple high school teams. Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2kkgm-QJmU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the suspected gunman is also dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Federal authorities, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, responded to assist state and local law enforcement at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena on Monday. Police said shots were fired inside the arena while spectators and players were present for what had been scheduled as a senior night celebration for the Blackstone Valley Schools cooperative hockey team.
“You don’t know what’s going on at first,” Melissa Dunn, the mother of one player, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/video/woman-says-she-re-entered-pawtucket-rhode-island-ice-rink-during-shooting-to-find-her-son/?hsfs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters. “You just hear the loud noises … then you realize something is very wrong.”
A player who was on the ice at the time said multiple shots were fired and that players ran to the locker room for safety.
“We pressed against the door and just tried to stay safe,” he <a href="https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news/blackstone-valley/coventry-hockey-player-on-ice-during-deadly-shooting-im-overwhelmed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “It was very scary.”
Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien called the shooting “a terrible tragedy” and said the city is working closely with law enforcement and the Rhode Island attorney general’s office.
“What should have been a joyful occasion … was instead marked by violence and fear,” Grebien <a href="https://x.com/cityofpawtucket/status/2023549722959770109?s=46&amp;t=pc9rx8l9zLnkazX2Y6G_TQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “Tonight, Pawtucket is a city in mourning.”

A longtime custodian at Brown University said he alerted a security guard after seeing a suspicious man walking around campus at least 10 times in the weeks leading up to the mass shooting on December 13.
Derek Lisi told the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/12/22/metro/brown-custodian-saw-shooting-suspect/">Boston Globe</a> on Sunday that 48-year-old Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente, who killed two students and wounded nine others, was peering into classrooms and pacing the college&#8217;s hallways weeks before his attack. Lisi said Valente was walking around the Barus and Holley engineering and physics building at Brown, where on December 13, the gunman opened fire, killing 19-year-old Ella Cook and 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov as they studied.
“He’d been casing that place for weeks,” Lisi said, adding, “I knew there was something off with him.&#8221;
Lisi said that he notified a staff member of a private firm he believed was working as a security guard about a suspicious person on two different occasions, adding that the staff member did not investigate. Brown uses Event Staffing Services, a private firm that provides security on campus. Event Staffing Services confirmed that one of its employees received a report of a suspicious person in December, but added that it is not responsible for investigating such reports, according to the Globe.
In the weeks before the shooting, the suspicious man was especially interested in room 166, according to Lisi. Room 166 is where the gunman shot multiple students days later.
“I thought it was someone trying to steal something,” Lisi said. “Every time he saw me, I think he thought I was security, because he would always walk away.&#8221;
Lisi said he recognized the suspicious man who had been walking around campus in the photos shared by police during the manhunt for the shooter. Providence, Rhode Island, police said that after the shooting, the custodian also told them that he had alerted campus security about a man who appeared to have been casing the campus.

The Daily Wire reached out to Brown University for comment.
After hearing about the shooting at Brown, Lisi said he told a friend, &#8220;I hope it’s not the guy I’ve been seeing.&#8221; But after the police released the first images and videos of a person of interest, Lisi knew immediately.
“I knew it was him because I could tell by the walk,” he said. “He had a pretty distinctive walk.”
Lisi wasn&#8217;t alone in witnessing odd behavior from the shooter. A Brown faculty member told police that she saw a car matching the description of the suspect&#8217;s rental car slowly driving around campus just before the shooting. Another man, whom police identified as &#8220;John,&#8221; said that he saw the suspect acting suspiciously on campus in the days before the attack.
Valente, a Portuguese resident and former Brown student, was finally tracked down by police five days after the shooting, and was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a storage unit he owned in New Hampshire. Authorities believe that Valente was also responsible for the murder of MIT professor Nuno Loureiro, who was found shot in his Brookline, Massachusetts, home on the morning of December 15.

President Donald Trump on Thursday ordered a pause on the United States green card diversity lottery immigrant visa program, which authorities say allowed the man who killed two Brown University students and a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor to enter the country.

Authorities found Valente dead in a New Hampshire storage unit on Thursday night, from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“The Brown University shooter, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente entered the United States through the diversity lottery immigrant visa program (DV1) in 2017 and was granted a green card. This heinous individual should never have been allowed in our country,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem <a href="https://x.com/sec_noem/status/2001873077089767435?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">said</a> on X. “In 2017, President Trump fought to end this program, following the devastating NYC truck ramming by an ISIS terrorist, who entered under the DV1 program, and murdered eight people.”
Trump called on Congress to eliminate the visa lottery after that attack, but the effort failed.
“At President Trump’s direction, I am immediately directing USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) to pause the DV1 program to ensure no more Americans are harmed by this disastrous program,” Noem added. 
The “diversity visa” program allows up to 55,000 immigrants from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States into the country every year, according to the State Department.

Valente, a lawful permanent resident, attended Brown University as a physics student in 2001 and re-entered the United States 16 years later under the diversity visa program as a green card holder. Authorities believe he acted alone and have not revealed a motive. Investigators say Valente remained at large for six days after the Brown shootings, during which he allegedly entered an engineering building and opened fire, leaving two people dead and injuring nine more. While on the run, authorities believe he fatally shot MIT professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro at his home.
Police traced Valente to the New Hampshire storage facility after receiving a tip based on a Reddit post from someone who said they had seen the vehicle used by the gunman. “I’m being dead serious. The police need to look into a grey Nissan with Florida plates, possibly a rental,” the post said, according to a police affidavit. 
That person later came forward to the police and provided a description of Valente. He said that he asked Valente why he was circling the block near the university, to which he replied, “I don’t know you from nobody,” and “Why are you harassing me?” 
Brown University officials and police have faced scrutiny over their handling of the investigation, including questions about why more surveillance footage was not available from the campus building where the shooting occurred.
“I know this has been hard on all of us over the past five days,” Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said at a Thursday night press conference. “Minutes have felt like hours, but the people of Providence have done what we’re best at – we’ve leaned on one another, come together and supported one another, and showed the nation what a tight-knit community looks like.”

Asked about the lack of footage of the person of interest, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said that &#8220;unfortunately&#8221; due to the age of the building where the gunman opened fire, &#8220;we just don’t have additional video footage.&#8221;
&#8220;So, there&#8217;s the back part of the building, the old part, and the front part, the new part,&#8221; Neronha said. &#8220;The shooting occurs in the old part towards the back … and that older part of the building, there are fewer, if any, cameras in that location, I imagine, because it&#8217;s an older building.
The attacker shot and killed 19-year-old University College Republicans Vice President Ella Cook and 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov while they were studying in a first-floor classroom in the Barus &amp; Holley building.
Neither Neronha nor school officials have explained why the older building could not have been equipped with security cameras. Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/older-brown-building-where-shooting-happened-had-no-cameras-presidents-even-older-home-appears-equipped">reported</a> that the university president&#8217;s residence is even older than the Barus &amp; Holley building, but appears to have multiple security cameras.
The university said its cameras focus on &#8220;high-traffic areas, such as streets, sidewalks and campus walkways with significant foot traffic; and in academic and administrative buildings with an emphasis on entry and exit points. Brown’s security cameras do not extend to every hallway, classroom, laboratory and office across the 250+ buildings on campus.&#8221;
&#8220;For security reasons, it is not prudent to share where cameras are and are not relative to individual buildings and locations,&#8221; Brown University added.

Police in Rhode Island released &#8220;enhanced&#8221; footage on Tuesday of a person of interest in the shooting at Brown University that left two dead and nine injured as the hunt for the gunman continues. 
The Providence Police Department released the footage of a person of interest walking down the street before the shooting took place. The footage shows a person wearing a hat and mask walking along the street and through neighborhoods a few hours before the attack. 
“We are releasing an enhanced video of the person of interest in the Brown University incident. Footage was captured on the East Side of Providence on Saturday afternoon before the incident,” they posted on X.

The university has faced criticism over the little amount of footage they have released so far related to the shooting, including from President Donald Trump. 
“Why did Brown University have so few Security Cameras? There can be no excuse for that,” Trump posted on Truth Social. &#8220;In the modern age, it just doesn’t get worse!!!”

During a press conference, authorities were asked about the lack of footage released to the public so far. Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said that there was additional footage that showed “chaos” after the shooting, but none that would help identify the attacker.
“There are cameras that they have in place in an effort to protect their students. And unfortunately here, given location, given age of building there, we just don&#8217;t have additional video footage,” he said. “Trust me, I wish we did, but we don&#8217;t.”
The FBI, which is assisting in the investigation, also shared the footage and asked for anyone with tips on the incident or the person of interest to report it to the authorities. They are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the culprit. 
The manhunt for the gunman has now entered day five as police have still not named any suspects or motive. There have been reports that the gunman shouted something during the shooting, but law enforcement have not yet confirmed that. 
“There&#8217;s nothing about what we know was perhaps said that indicates any kind of motive that is related at all to ethnicity or political outlook or culture. There&#8217;s nothing at all that we know right now about that. And I think that is a dangerous road to go down, particularly in today&#8217;s environment,” Neronha said. 
The two students who were killed in the attack have been identified as 19-year-old University College Republicans Vice President Ella Cook and 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.

Authorities have released new images and video of a person of interest related to a mass shooting at Brown University while the FBI has offered a $50,000 bounty.
Law enforcement have been attempting to track down a gunman who killed two students and injured nine others on Saturday. Authorities had detained a “person of interest” early on Sunday, but released him after concluding he did not commit the shooting.
The new video and reward offer come as law enforcement have continued a frenzied search to find the shooter. Local officials on Sunday asked residents in Providence, Rhode Island, for additional information, tips, videos, and images of the person of interest after he was caught on CCTV footage in the area of the university.
“The FBI and [the Providence Police Department] are releasing new images of a person of interest in the mass shooting at Brown University on 12/13/25. The [FBI] is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual,” the bureau’s Boston office said in a post on X.

The Providence Police Department released additional videos of what appears to be the person of interest dressed in black clothing with a mask on.

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley attempted to reassure the public on Monday that there is no active threat despite the shooter still being at large.
“Ever since 4:05 on Saturday, which is when the call came in for [the Brown University shooting] there has been no new credible specific threat anywhere in the Providence community,” Smiley <a href="https://x.com/RedWave_Press/status/2000696187725467805">said</a> at a press conference on Monday.

Unconvinced reporters pushed Smiley on his basis for claiming that the community remains safe. Officials have increased police presence throughout Providence and at Brown University while the hunt for the shooter continues.
A gunman on Saturday stormed into a classroom in Brown’s engineering department and killed two students, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. Cook was from Alabama and served as vice president of the university’s Republican Club. Umurzokov was an Uzbek national in his first year at the school.
