On July 4, 2026, American taxpayers celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation, but they&#8217;ll also begin giving money again to the largest abortion organization, Planned Parenthood. That&#8217;s unless Congress acts.
Last summer, Congress included a one-year “defund” provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The law blocked Medicaid payments to certain abortion organizations for “the 1-year period beginning on the date of the enactment” of the law, July 4, 2025. Simply put,  Planned Parenthood and similar organizations were cut off from federal Medicaid reimbursement for one year. That year is coming to an end.
Some Republican lawmakers apparently think this is a difficult political question. It is not.
The whispered argument in Washington, D.C., is familiar: It is the summer of an election year. Do we really want ads saying, “Congressman X defunded Planned Parenthood”? Won’t Democrats accuse Republicans of taking away women’s health care? Won’t Planned Parenthood spend millions telling voters Republicans are extremists?
Of course they will. That is the point. The attack ads are coming either way.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund is publicly campaigning against House Republicans over defunding. Its own press room announced a new investment of nearly $2 million to keep House Republicans from “defunding” Planned Parenthood, after a prior $1.5 million campaign on the same issue. Its 2026 endorsements page says “the stakes could not be higher,” attacking President Donald Trump and Republicans, warning that anti-abortion lawmakers want to make the Medicaid defund permanent.
Republicans face a choice. They can be attacked for defunding Planned Parenthood after actually defunding Planned Parenthood. Or they can be attacked for defunding Planned Parenthood after quietly letting the money flow again.
The first option is a fight that can be won and is good public policy. The second is political malpractice.
The case against funding Planned Parenthood does not require hyperbole. It requires reading Planned Parenthood’s own documents. Planned Parenthood is not a local charity that stumbled into politics. It is the nation’s largest abortion organization. Its 2024-2025 <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/uploads/filer_public/6a/19/6a191461-a0ad-4ea0-8118-aa9184c24a31/digital-2025-ppfa-annualreport-c3.pdf">annual report</a> lists 434,450 abortions committed, each of which is a precious child killed. The same year, they reported $832 million in government reimbursements and grants. It also lists tens of millions of dollars spent on explicit sexual education, public policy, and advocacy expenses.
The organization says its health centers provide hormone therapy and other “gender-affirming” services. Its website lists estrogen and anti-androgen hormone therapy, testosterone hormone therapy, puberty blockers, surgery referrals, and transition support. Planned Parenthood has been described as the second-largest provider of gender hormone therapies in the United States. And they offer nothing to minors who <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/planned-parenthood-offered-hormones-had-no-answers-when-detransitioner-sought-help-undercover-probe-finds">regret</a> transitioning.
Add it up. Planned Parenthood kills hundreds of thousands of preborn children through abortion, pushes ideological sex education, provides <a href="https://www.liveaction.org/assets/1781815371-planned-parenthood-transgender-agenda-official-copy.pdf">gender-transition services</a>, and then turns around to politically mobilize against the very lawmakers debating whether to subsidize it.
This is the organization some Republicans are considering returning to the taxpayer trough.
There is a saying in politics: You cannot beat something with nothing. True. But there is another lesson Republicans should&#8217;ve learned by now: You cannot appease a political machine into silence.
If Republicans extend the defunding, Planned Parenthood and its allies will say Republicans defunded Planned Parenthood. That would be accurate. Fine. Let the argument be had honestly.
If Republicans fail to extend the defunding, Planned Parenthood and its allies will still say Republicans defunded Planned Parenthood, threatened basic care, and tried to shut down clinics. The ads will not disappear. The mailers will not be recalled. The pro-abortion activists will not send thank-you notes. The only people who will notice the retreat are the voters Republicans count on to knock doors, write checks, make calls, and turn out in ugly political weather.
That is the forgotten political cost here: base demoralization.
For pro-life voters, defunding Planned Parenthood is not the ceiling. It is the floor. It is the least a Republican Congress can do. Many of these voters have accepted that change is hard and comes slowly. They have accepted imperfect bills, narrow margins, Senate rules, court fights, and half measures dressed up as strategy. But asking them to accept nearly a billion taxpayer dollars flowing back to the abortion industry, after Republicans had already stopped it for a year, is a different thing.
Republicans should not fund their opposition.
The ads are coming. The accusations are coming. The headlines are coming. Let’s at least reap the reward while bearing the cost.
Defund Planned Parenthood and defend that defunding without flinching. Better to be attacked for taking the hill than mocked by your own voters for abandoning it.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Republicans will make history this September by holding the party&#8217;s first national convention during a midterm election year, an unprecedented gathering designed to energize voters and showcase the administration&#8217;s accomplishments ahead of November.
The Republican convention will take place September 9-10 in Dallas, marking the first time the GOP has staged a national convention outside of a presidential election cycle.
&#8220;BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION,&#8221; Trump announced on Truth Social. Calling it a &#8220;truly Historic Event,&#8221; Trump said Republicans will celebrate what he described as the &#8220;Great American Comeback&#8221; and the successes of his America First agenda.
The president said the convention will feature &#8220;hardworking Americans, our Great Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, First Responders, and Job Creators,&#8221; alongside entertainment and what he promised would be &#8220;a RALLY like none other.&#8221;
Although Trump first floated the idea <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115215261916717696">last year</a>, Tuesday&#8217;s announcement confirms that the event is officially moving forward after the Republican National Committee approved<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scoop-rnc-eyes-america-first-midterm-convention-boost-trump-gop-ahead-critical-elections" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> rule changes</a> earlier this year that allow for a national convention outside the traditional four-year presidential cycle.
The convention comes as Republicans defend a razor-thin House majority and a narrow Senate majority, where even a handful of losses could hand Democrats control of Congress for the remainder of Trump&#8217;s term.
Historically, the president&#8217;s party almost always loses seats during midterm elections, and Republican strategists have <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/18/republicans-trump-campaign-trail-00657271">acknowledged</a> the challenge of motivating voters without Trump&#8217;s name appearing on the ballot. The convention is intended to help counter that trend by putting Trump himself at the center of the campaign and nationalizing congressional races around his administration&#8217;s record.
In his announcement, Trump highlighted a list of administration priorities he said Republicans will celebrate during the convention, including tax relief, border security, lower costs, increased domestic energy production, and what he described as the country&#8217;s &#8220;Golden Age.&#8221;
Holding the event in Texas also places a national spotlight on one of the country&#8217;s most consequential battlegrounds. Texas will feature multiple competitive House races, while Republicans also are defending a closely watched Senate seat between Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democrat Texas state Representative James Talarico. The state also remains central to Republican efforts to preserve and expand their congressional majority following this year&#8217;s mid-decade redistricting fight.
While Republicans move forward with the historic gathering, Democrats ultimately abandoned discussions about organizing a similar midterm convention of their own, despite reportedly considering the idea earlier this year.
The timing of the event is also notable. The convention will conclude on Sept. 10, the first anniversary of the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, whose death last year became a defining moment for many conservatives and prompted renewed discussions about political violence in America. Whether that date becomes part of the convention&#8217;s messaging remains to be seen.

Outraged over the Supreme Court’s decision to allow states to count mail-in ballots received after Election Day, Republicans are doubling down on their push to pass the SAVE America Act to “uphold election integrity.” 
Missouri Republican Senator Eric Schmitt <a href="https://x.com/SenEricSchmitt/status/2071598452698456132?s=20">called</a> the court&#8217;s decision on Monday “shockingly wrong.&#8221;
“A shockingly wrong opinion. Justice Barrett joins with the liberal justices to hold that federal election law does not preempt states who allow late mail-in ballots to be counted.” He added, “This is terrible for election integrity. Another reason we must pass the full SAVE American Act.”
The SAVE America Act would require proof of citizenship to vote and would add restrictions to mail-in ballots, including new ID requirements. In its decision on Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that federal law does not bar states from counting ballots that arrive after Election Day, so long as they are postmarked on time.
Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL) echoed Schmitt’s urgency for the Save America Act to be passed. Steube <a href="https://x.com/RepGregSteube/status/2071611241198485944">called</a> on the Senate to “nuke” the filibuster to allow the bill to be passed. “The House already passed the SAVE Act to fix this. The Senate filibuster is the only thing standing in the way. Nuke it,&#8221; he said. 
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that while the decision is &#8220;a loss for election integrity,&#8221; his state &#8220;will continue to only count mail ballots that arrive by Election Day.&#8221;
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters added, &#8220;If we want fair and secure elections, Election Day should mean exactly what it says, which is why this decision makes it even more imperative that Congress pass the Save America Act.&#8221; Gruters argued that by allowing mail-in ballots post-election day, &#8220;Democrats are inviting chaos at the ballot box by allowing elections to drag on for days and weeks after voters cast their ballots.&#8221;
The 5-4 ruling says states can count ballots as long as they are postmarked by Election Day. Recently, the mail-in counting process led to L.A. mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt being edged out of the November runoff by City Councilmember Nithya Raman, who overtook him for second place behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass as late-arriving mail ballots were counted.
In his <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/24-1260_g3cn.pdf">dissent</a>, conservative Justice Samuel Alito wrote, “It opens up and fails to resolve a host of questions for state election officials and courts. And it creates a serious risk of further undermining public confidence in our elections and our system of self-government.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) praised the court&#8217;s decision and hinted that Senate Democrats would work to stop the SAVE America Act.
“The Supreme Court just upheld this bedrock American principle: if you cast your ballot on time, your vote will count. Participation in democracy should never be limited — not by your race, where you live, or how you vote,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Senate Democrats will continue to do everything we can to protect free and fair elections, where everyone’s voice is heard.&#8221;
Schumer and other Democrats have specifically raised concerns that the SAVE America Act could restrict married women from voting if they changed their last names but have not received a new passport or driver’s license to match. 
Ken Martin, chairman of the DNC, <a href="https://x.com/kenmartin73/status/2071613468575236267">said</a> Republicans&#8217; decision to challenge Mississippi’s mail-in voting was an attempt to “rig the system.” 
“Trump and Republicans are attacking our elections and trying to rig the system in their favor because they know the American people are ready to reject their chaos and corruption this November,” he said. “The DNC is proud to have stood with the state of Mississippi to defeat the RNC’s latest attack on Americans’ voting rights.”

For a long time, I&#8217;ve been talking about ideological borders for conservatives, because words have meanings and political movements must have borders. It turns out these “Republicans” are self-deporting, which is a good thing, because what we don&#8217;t need in the party are people who won&#8217;t assimilate to our culture or our values and who would like our enemies to win.
Good riddance.
Vice President JD Vance was recently on Megyn Kelly&#8217;s show in order to trot out his defense of the Iran deal, and he said something interesting: that even if you disagree with the administration, you should vote Republican, because the alternative is to put Democrats in power. That makes sense.
Let’s put aside all of the nonsense that the vice president was peddling about how we really need a bunch of people who love the Iran deal to stay in, because otherwise the neocons are going to win, etc., etc.
The whole point of what people on the horseshoe Right, or the woke Right, are doing is to destroy the Republican Party from within, to throw their support to someone else in order to get the Republican Party to run after them.

I&#8217;m okay with people who are rabidly anti-American leaving the party. I don&#8217;t think we need them here. I think that if you came into the Republican Party because you were a refugee from your home party or from your home ideology, and we brought you in here as a kindness, and then you proceeded to take advantage of our system and proceeded to believe that we were going to change all of our principles for you, it&#8217;s time for you to self-deport.
Now, Tucker Carlson is self-deporting from the Republican Party. He&#8217;s very upset with the administration because the administration is not pro-Russia or pro-Iran enough for him.
Yesterday, he announced on the “Can&#8217;t Be Censored” podcast — I have to admit, I find it somewhat hilarious that there are podcasts with sizable audiences that claim that they&#8217;re being “censored” — that he no longer supports the Republican Party; he can&#8217;t because it&#8217;s just too immoral. A moral Republican Party would have sided with Hezbollah, Iran, and the Russians.
Don&#8217;t let the door hit you on the way out.

Tucker acts like he&#8217;s been a Republican for 35 years. That&#8217;s weird, because he was a registered Democrat from 2006 to 2020. He said he did that so he could vote for the Democrats in primaries and manipulate the system — except that Washington, D.C., where he was living, has a closed primary system.
I have some questions.
If the Republican Party will not support Vladimir Putin&#8217;s aspirations in Ukraine, if the Republican Party will not sing the glories of Russian bread and Russian subways and Russian hamburgers, if the Republican Party will not bend over for Qatar completely, if the Republican Party refuses to just cheer on the Iranians as they foster terrorism throughout the region, my goodness, what are we even doing here?
Marjorie Taylor Greene echoed, “There is [sic] a lot of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country. That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either. But we are done with the America Last Republican Party.”
Megyn Kelly told JD Vance that she never believed she should simply leave because she&#8217;s upset over what the Republicans are doing. But two weeks ago, she was with Sean Ryan talking about forming a horseshoe coalition with Ana Kasparian, who has tweeted support for terrorism.
The important point is that the Republican Party has certain principles. If you do not accord with those centralizing principles, e.g., peace through strength, then probably you shouldn&#8217;t be here. That&#8217;s okay. You can leave.
But you should not be the lodestar of a new Republican Party.
Self-deportation is a good policy for people who joined up for the wrong reasons in the first place.

President Donald Trump and his son appear to be rooting for different candidates to be the next governor of Georgia ahead of Tuesday&#8217;s runoff election.
Trump endorsed Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, but on Monday, Donald Trump Jr. put out a statement praising Jones’ rival, Rick Jackson. Trump Jr. clarified that his post was not an endorsement.
&#8220;Regardless of what happens in the Georgia Governor’s race tomorrow, we should celebrate the patriots building up MAGA and an America First economy like Rick Jackson has,&#8221; Trump Jr. <a href="https://x.com/DonaldJTrumpJr/status/2066590785756418413">wrote</a>. 
&#8220;When China threatened our amoxicillin supply, Rick saved the last amoxicillin manufacturing facility in America because he knows we can’t let China control our entire supply of antibiotics,&#8221; he added. &#8220;When the U.S. faced an oil refining shortage and the woke banks wouldn’t finance a new one, Rick stepped up again and became the largest outside investor. This has been a hard-fought race with a lot of mudslinging, but I know Rick Jackson to be a good man and that counts for a lot.&#8221;
Trump Jr. added that either outcome would be a win for conservatives. &#8220;By the way, this is not an endorsement of Rick and I think Burt Jones is a great guy too. My only point is that no matter who wins tomorrow, it’s a victory for MAGA.&#8221;
President Trump endorsed Jones last summer and then reaffirmed his endorsement in a post on Truth Social in March.
&#8220;Hello Georgia. I am thrilled to give my complete and total endorsement to my good friend and your next Governor Burt Jones. He is fantastic. He&#8217;s done a great job,&#8221; <a href="https://www.facebook.com/burtjonesforga/videos/a-message-from-president-trump/1514950866924504/">said</a> Trump in a video endorsement.
President Trump and Georgia’s current Republican governor, Brian Kemp, have had a tumultuous relationship. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kemp was the first governor to reopen the state in late April of 2020, just weeks after the emergency lockdown was called.
At the time, Trump had urged Kemp to wait, but Kemp diverged from the president and reopened Georgia. It would not be the last time Kemp went against Trump’s wishes. The governor also certified the 2020 presidential election results from Georgia despite Trump&#8217;s objections, securing 16 electoral votes for then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Kemp, who is term-limited, also endorsed Jones.
The Kalshi prediction market favors Jones over Jackson in the runoff. The winner will face Democratic nominee and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Jones, once a prominent oil executive, has served as the state’s lieutenant governor for the last three years. Jackson, like the president himself, is a self-made billionaire. Jackson grew up in foster care and founded his first healthcare company in the Atlanta area in 1978. He has spent over $100 million of his own money on his race.

House Divided: Don Jr. Praises Governor Hopeful Running Against Trump’s Pick

Congressional Republicans are exploring whether a budget reconciliation bill could be used to drive out &#8220;wokeness&#8221; in higher education and overhaul the accreditation system that determines whether colleges and universities can access billions of dollars in federal student aid. 
The effort was discussed on Thursday during a panel hosted by Defending Education. This conservative, grassroots organization argues that accrediting agencies have become vehicles for pushing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and other leftist priorities onto schools.
Accreditation is a little-understood but powerful process that determines whether colleges and universities can access billions of dollars in federal student aid. Defending Education argues that some accrediting agencies have abused their authority by becoming ideological enforcers pushing requirements unrelated to educational quality. 
The group pointed to the American Bar Association’s law school accreditation agency as one example. Defending Education said the ABA pushes anti-bias training mandates that universities must adopt to secure accreditation for their law schools.
Republicans are now discussing whether changes to the accreditation system could be included in a budget reconciliation package, which can pass the Senate with a simple majority and avoid a Democrat filibuster. 
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), a leading advocate for accreditation reform, argued Thursday that the current system advances a left-wing agenda that undermines Western civilization. 
Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) echoed that criticism, saying, “They use forces like this [accreditation] to jam their beliefs on us. There shouldn’t be left-captured monopolies that get to decide what we believe and what we do.”
The panel also featured current and former law students who argued that ideological pressure extends beyond accrediting agencies and into the classroom. 
Edward Goul, a second-year law student at the University of Pennsylvania, told the panel that only one right-leaning professor currently serves on the law school&#8217;s faculty. He added that many conservative students choose not to disclose their political views out of concern that doing so could hurt their chances of receiving recommendations for clerkships, law review positions, and other opportunities critical to their legal careers.
The other student, a recent University of Virginia law graduate who asked not to be identified, told The Daily Wire that some professors appear to factor students&#8217; political views into classroom interactions and grading.

Missouri GOP Sen. Eric Schmitt hit the dirt Wednesday night at Nationals Park — and came up bloody. But the Republican senator&#8217;s dive-and-snag in left field was just the highlight reel moment in another merciless GOP dismantling of the Democrats, 11-2, the sixth consecutive Republican victory in the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity.
Schmitt opened his face going full stretch for a ball that had no business being caught. He got it anyway. That, in a nutshell, is the difference between these two teams right now.

Republicans play baseball disciplined, hungry, and willing to bleed for it. Democrats play like they govern: full of optimism, short on execution.
Not including players lost by elections, the GOP rolled out the exact same starting lineup that crushed the Democrats 13-2 last year because why mess with a winning formula? Florida Rep. Greg Steube took the hill and was virtually unhittable, going the distance and fanning five. Meanwhile, Democratic starter Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania kept decent control — until a wild throw on a routine grounder in the second let two more GOP runners score. Poor fielding haunted the Dems all night. By the end of the fourth, Republicans led 11-0.
The Democrats did manage to hit the ball. They just couldn&#8217;t do anything with it. A Morgan McGarvey ground-rule double in the fourth ended in an out at the plate. Rep. Dave Min drove in two runs on an RBI single to give the libs something to cheer about. That was about it.
More than 32,000 fans packed the park — blowing past the average Nationals attendance this season of about 22,000 — and raised a record $3.2 million for charity, up from last year&#8217;s record $2.8 million. After every GOP big play, the conservative faithful <a href="https://rollcall.com/2026/06/10/congressional-baseball-game-2026/">erupted</a> in a chant of &#8220;U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!&#8221;
Which brings us to the broader point. Republicans don&#8217;t just play America&#8217;s game better — they respect it better.
Remember October 30, 2001 — 49 days after 9/11 — when George W. Bush walked to the Yankee Stadium mound in a bulletproof vest hidden under an FDNY fleece, with a Secret Service agent disguised as an umpire, and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjGcCI9ByWw">drilled a perfect strike</a> before a stunned, grieving nation? That pitch didn&#8217;t just open a World Series game. It told New York City — and every terrorist watching — that America was still standing.
Contrast that with Barack Obama — the same person who claimed he was a Chicago White Sox fan who attended games at “Kaminsky Field” (the park&#8217;s name at the time was &#8220;Comiskey Park&#8221;) and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-Tart58c7E">short-armed</a> a fluttery arc that forced the catcher to lunge. A president who throws like that manages the country like that.
Wednesday night, the GOP played like Bush pitched that night. Hard, accurate, and straight down the middle — even if it cost them a bloody nose.
The series record now stands at 48 wins for Republicans and 42 for Democrats, with one tie. The streak started in 1909. America&#8217;s been keeping score ever since.

The House struck comments made by Ohio Republican Rep. Max Miller after he blasted Michigan Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib on the House floor Wednesday as someone who &#8220;advocates for terrorists on a daily basis&#8221; — but a look at Tlaib&#8217;s decade-long record suggests Miller&#8217;s got the receipts to back up every word.
Miller unloaded on Tlaib during debate, telling her directly: &#8220;Hezbollah is a terrorist organization, gentle lady from Michigan, and its members are butchers that you like to hang out with to a certain extent.&#8221;
When Tlaib erupted in anger, Miller didn&#8217;t flinch.
&#8220;Oh, I&#8217;m sorry. Are we getting a little emotional?&#8221; he shot back.
After the chairman asked him to suspend, Tlaib erupted again — and Miller doubled down: &#8220;I certainly believe you advocate for them, yes. You advocate for terrorists on a daily basis. You advocate for a terrorist regime every single day.&#8221;

Tlaib immediately demanded Miller&#8217;s words be stricken from the record, calling them &#8220;a direct attack on my character.&#8221; The House struck the comments after Miller refused to voluntarily retract his remarks, Axios <a href="https://x.com/AndrewSolender/status/2062310787314524349">reported</a>.
&#8220;Such remarks impugn the patriotism and loyalty of a member of the House, which is not in order,&#8221; said California Republican Rep. Jay Obernolte, who was presiding over the House. &#8220;Without objection, the offending words are stricken from the record.&#8221;
The House itself has already weighed in on Tlaib&#8217;s record. In November 2023, the chamber voted 234–188 to censure her, with 22 Democrats crossing the aisle to support the rebuke. The resolution cited a years-long pattern of anti-Israel rhetoric, her <a href="https://d12t4t5x3vyizu.cloudfront.net/maxmiller.house.gov/uploads/2023/11/MILLOH_024_xml5.pdf">promotion</a> of the &#8220;from the river to the sea&#8221; slogan — a Hamas rallying cry calling for Israel&#8217;s destruction — and her inflammatory statement the day after the October 7 massacre, in which she called Israel an apartheid state and suggested the U.S. cut off support for its closest Middle East ally.
That was far from an isolated incident. She once said on the ‘‘Skullduggery” podcast, “There’s always kind of a calming feeling, I always tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust and the tragedy of the Holocaust.&#8221;
In 2021, Tlaib <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-rashida-tlaib-speaks-at-fringe-rally-where-activists-call-for-the-elimination-of-israel">spoke at a rally</a> outside the State Department where activists chanted for the elimination of Israel — even as Palestinian terrorists were firing hundreds of rockets into Israeli cities. In 2020, she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rashida-tlaib-expresses-support-for-palestinian-terrorist-who-tried-to-kill-israeli-soldiers">boosted</a> defenders of Ahmad Erekat, a man Israeli police say drove his car into a border checkpoint in a deliberate terrorist attack. In February 2024, she was the sole member of the entire House — Democrat or Republican — to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rashida-tlaib-votes-present-on-resolution-condemning-hamas-rape">refuse</a> to vote yes on a resolution condemning Hamas&#8217;s use of rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war, voting &#8220;present&#8221; instead.
She was also a member of a private Facebook group whose members <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rashida-tlaib-is-a-member-of-facebook-group-that-praised-hamas-after-its-attack-on-israel-report">glorified</a> Hamas in the immediate aftermath of October 7, posting photos of Hamas fighters posing with elderly hostages and celebrating the slaughter of Israeli soldiers as &#8220;achievements.&#8221; The group&#8217;s founder — one of Tlaib&#8217;s key fundraisers — has posted videos questioning the Holocaust and calling Jews &#8220;satanic.&#8221;
Miller called Tlaib a terrorist advocate on the House floor. The House censured her. Her own colleagues slammed her. Her own Facebook group cheered Hamas.

The Trump-led redistricting effort in South Carolina failed in the state senate Tuesday after several Republicans defected to join Democrats in blocking the new map from advancing to a final vote.
The 20-24 vote fell short of the 26 needed to move the map forward, a defeat that came despite Trump&#8217;s public pressure on South Carolina Republicans to follow the lead of red states such as Texas, Florida, and North Carolina and give the GOP a stronger advantage in November&#8217;s pivotal elections.
The new map, which passed the state house last week, would have axed the state&#8217;s lone Democratic district, represented by longtime Democratic Rep. James Clyburn. The failed vote is a significant setback to President Trump&#8217;s redistricting agenda, which suffered an additional defeat Tuesday after a panel of federal judges blocked the use of a Republican-backed map in Alabama.
Several Republican defectors joined all Democrats in voting against advancing the map, a move that closely <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/indiana-senate-rejects-trump-backed-redistricting-bid-dealing-blow-to-gops-2026-outlook">mirrors</a> the Indiana state senate&#8217;s December action after it rejected a map that would likely have flipped two Democratic seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The vote reportedly came as a surprise to the Trump administration, with an administration official <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-election/south-carolinas-redistricting-effort-fails-state-senate-gop-opposition-rcna346962">telling</a> NBC News that &#8220;the votes were there&#8221; and that the White House had &#8220;no new information&#8221; indicating the map would fail to advance. Another White House adviser called the vote a &#8220;betrayal.&#8221;
GOP leadership in the state senate had shown some resistance to enacting the new map, given that primary elections were already underway across the state.
“Republicans are stronger when the Democrat Party is vibrant and viable,” GOP Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-election/south-carolina-state-senate-rejects-effort-tackle-redistricting-pressu-rcna344815">said</a> earlier this month, adding that he refused to surrender to Trump on this issue. “I have too much Southern blood in me to surrender. Indeed, as some of you will recognize, it is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid, to think and act for myself.”
Following the vote, several Republican state senators defended their votes on more practical grounds.
“South Carolina citizens are going to the polls today. And neither my conscience or common sense is going to let me stop an election that is already underway,” Republican state Sen. Richard Cash <a href="https://www.southcarolinapublicradio.org/sc-news/2026-05-26/sc-senate-rejects-president-trumps-call-to-redraw-congressional-maps">said</a>.
To proponents of the bill, the &#8220;too late&#8221; rationale expressed by defecting GOP state senators is simply a cover for ducking a tough vote, given that the senators had debated the map for weeks before voting even began. The affected congressional primaries, after all, would merely have been rescheduled to August.
Earlier this month, President Donald Trump had personally urged South Carolina lawmakers to move forward with the measure. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he was “watching closely” and called on state Republicans to “be bold and courageous,” citing Tennessee’s recent decision to split up its only deep blue district.

Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality TV star Spencer Pratt opened up about the personal experience that led him to register as a Republican.
In an interview that aired Wednesday night, CNN anchor Elex Michaelson asked Pratt point-blank, “Why are you a Republican?”
Pratt, best known for his role on MTV’s 2000s-era reality series &#8220;The Hills,&#8221; teased the revelation by saying, “You want to break some news here? This is the first time I’ve ever said this, so this is breaking news. Everyone’s going to freak out.”
&#8220;When I was a hated reality star, I got so many death threats, I had so much security and police, and what did they tell me to do? Get a gun,&#8221; Pratt said. &#8220;I know people don&#8217;t like guns, but L.A. was dangerous if you&#8217;re hated, so I got a gun. My wife got a gun, and then we needed [concealed carry permits].&#8221;

Pratt said only Republican candidates supported concealed carry rights, a key pillar of the Second Amendment that many Democrats oppose. In 2022, the <a href="https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/597/20-843/case.pdf">U.S. Supreme Court ruled</a> that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to carry a concealed handgun outside the home for self-defense.
&#8220;That was what I aligned with: my safety, my personal safety, my family&#8217;s safety. I know people don&#8217;t like guns, but when people are threatening your life and your own security is telling you, you need to have home protection &#8230; that&#8217;s it,&#8221; Pratt said.
Pratt, running in deep-blue Los Angeles, acknowledged gun rights represent a &#8220;hot button&#8221; issue, but vowed to use law enforcement to protect sensitive sites. 
&#8220;I&#8217;m also going to be the mayor that puts LAPD in front of every school to make schools safe from guns,&#8221; he said, not backing down on his position. &#8220;I know people don&#8217;t like guns, and we need to make everything, especially schools, safe, but that is where I connect to, and once you feel fear, and it&#8217;s real, you want to protect your family.&#8221; 
Beyond the cameras and Hollywood studios, Pratt is criss-crossing the City of Angels, meeting wildfire victims in the Pacific Palisades and <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/05/20/us-news/spencer-pratt-trades-the-debate-stage-for-bbq-in-south-la/">firing up the grill</a> with voters in South L.A. 
One voter, frustrated by what she described as Karen Bass’ inaction, pledged her support for Spencer Pratt.
&#8220;Karen Bass is not doing anything; she&#8217;s been bullsh*tting us,&#8221; the voter said, detailing her daughter&#8217;s painful drug addiction. &#8220;My daughter needs the help. They put her in jail. No treatment, no medicine, and we need more than that.&#8221; 
“She’s not homeless — she has a mother — but she’s downtown right now, walking around, and people probably don’t think she has a mother who loves her,” the emotional woman said as she embraced Spencer Pratt in a hug.
Pratt is set to face incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and far-Left Councilwoman Nithya Raman in the June 2 mayoral primary.

Georgia’s political future came into focus Tuesday night as voters narrowed crowded primary races down to six major contenders in two of the state’s most consequential races. 
Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and billionaire dark horse candidate Rick Jackson advanced to a runoff election to decide the Republican nominee for governor. Meanwhile, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms emerged victorious on the Democrat side, setting up a competitive election to succeed Republican Governor Brian Kemp. 
Republican Congressman Mike Collins and former University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley also advanced to a runoff to determine who will challenge incumbent Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff in November. 
Georgia is expected to be one of the most-watched battleground states heading into the 2026 midterms, with national implications for both parties.
Jones, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump and one of Georgia’s most recognizable conservative figures, entered the race with significant momentum after securing the president&#8217;s endorsement. As lieutenant governor, Jones championed lower taxes, increased funding for the education system, and supported law enforcement. 
Billionaire Rick Jackson <a href="https://www.wabe.org/rick-jackson-burt-jones-headed-to-a-runoff-in-the-republican-primary-for-georgia-governor/">spent</a> more than $83 million of his own fortune on the race, vastly outspending the other GOP candidates. Jackson, who made his fortune as a healthcare executive, framed his campaign around government accountability and spending reform.  
“Work brings dignity, purpose, and independence. If you want to sit on your butt, binge-watching Netflix and eating Cheetos, do it with your own money,” he said during the campaign. 
Despite Jackson&#8217;s massive spending advantage, Jones received the endorsement of President Trump, leaving the race neck-and-neck. The runoff election will now decide who advances to the general election against Bottoms. 
Bottoms, who rose to national prominence during her tenure as Atlanta mayor, positioned herself as the establishment Democrat in the governor’s race. Backed by major Democrat donors and party operatives, Bottoms ran on expanding healthcare, protecting abortion, and increasing government investment in social programs.
Her nomination sets her up for her first attempt to win a statewide general election after she served as a senior adviser in the Biden White House following her departure from City Hall.
As mayor, Bottoms oversaw Atlanta during the COVID pandemic and the riots that followed the death of George Floyd. She has been staunchly opposed to President Trump, whom she has described as “a madman in the White House.” Bottoms <a href="https://www.atlantaga.gov/Home/Components/News/News/11448/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eliminated</a> cash bail requirements for several offenses and pushed policies that restrict police from pursuing misdemeanor suspects. 
On the Senate side, the Republican race in Georgia could become one of the most expensive and nationally significant contests in the country. 
Collins, a conservative congressman and trucking business owner, campaigned as a pro-Trump outsider focused on border security, economic growth, and rolling back Biden-era policies. Dooley decided to get involved after becoming frustrated with &#8220;congressional gridlock and a failure to service the public.&#8221; The primary will determine who will face Ossoff, one of the Democrats’ highest-profile incumbents. 
Ossoff narrowly won his Senate seat in the 2021 runoff elections, which temporarily gave Democrats control of the Senate. With Georgia serving as a swing state in recent elections, both parties are expected to pour significant resources into the race ahead of November.

Louisiana Republicans voted to oust Sen. Bill Cassidy on Saturday, rejecting the incumbent who voted to convict President Donald Trump on impeachment charges.
With more than half the vote counted, Cassidy is trailing his conservative primary rivals, Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA) and State Treasurer John Fleming. Trump-backed Letlow, buoyed by the president’s endorsement, currently leads the race with 45% of the vote. With no candidate clearing the 50% threshold, Letlow and Fleming will advance to a June 27 runoff. <a href="https://x.com/DecisionDeskHQ/status/2055829975475859625?s=20">Decision Desk HQ called the race 9:56 p.m. ET.</a>
Cassidy’s fall from grace is another sign of Trump’s enduring grip on the Republican base, as the president continues flexing his political clout to target GOP lawmakers he views as disloyal to his agenda.

“Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana is a disloyal disaster,” the president wrote on <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116584450399753941">Truth Social</a>, noting that the two-term senator voted to impeach him after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. “Bill Cassidy is a sleazebag, a terrible guy, who is BAD FOR LOUISIANA. Now he’s going to get CLOBBERED, hopefully, in today’s BIG election, by two great people!!!”
 In January, Trump endorsed Letlow (R-LA) to replace Sen. Cassidy, who was one of seven Senate Republicans who voted to convict Trump after the January 6 Capitol riot. 
In a <a href="https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/article_67fa0a74-6ee1-11eb-8bd4-6bda88cda171.html">February 2021 column that has since come back to haunt him politically</a>, Cassidy wrote that Trump was &#8220;guilty” of inciting the riot and “actively subverting the peaceful transfer of power.” 
Ryan Girdusky, a conservative political consultant, called that vote the &#8220;ultimate betrayal.&#8221; 
&#8220;The impeachment vote against Trump is really what did him in; had he not voted to impeach Trump, he wouldn&#8217;t be in this position,&#8221; Girdusky said. &#8220;If they successfully had a trial against him, he would have been ineligible to run for President. So maybe that&#8217;s what Cassidy was rooting for.&#8221;
That reality, Girdusky said, pushed Trump to get involved. 
&#8220;“Highly Respected America First Congresswoman, Julia Letlow, of the wonderful State of Louisiana, is a Great Star, has been from the very beginning, and only gets better!’ <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116578950880982545">Trump said in a Friday Truth Social post</a>. “Election Day is tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th. Vote for Julia Letlow — She has my Complete and Total Endorsement, and will never let you down!”
In her campaign launch, Letlow said that in “a state as conservative as ours, we shouldn’t have to wonder how our senator will vote when the pressure’s on. Louisiana deserves conservative champions, leaders who will not flinch,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-slugfest-all-but-inevitable-as-trump-backed-lawmaker-enters-louisiana-race">The Daily Wire previously reported.</a> The congresswoman took office in April 2021, following a special election triggered by her husband’s death.
During the campaign, Cassidy and Fleming targeted Letlow over <a href="blank">past comments praising diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts</a>, questioning her conservative credentials.
&#8220;She&#8217;s as moderate as Bill Cassidy is,&#8221; Girdusky told The Daily Wire. &#8220;So it&#8217;s not like they&#8217;re trading a moderate for a conservative. They&#8217;re trading a moderate for a moderate, but one that Trump approved versus one that Trump didn&#8217;t approve.&#8221; 
Cassidy also faced heat for stalling some of Trump&#8217;s high-profile nominees, including Surgeon General pick Dr. Casey Means.  
A physician and chairman of the Senate health committee, Cassidy stopped short of supporting her, effectively sinking her nomination prospects — a move that infuriated MAHA supporters and the president himself.
“Bill Cassidy is a mindless avatar for his donors and a blind defender of the status quo system that is profiting from American sickness,” Calley Means, Casey Means&#8217; brother, <a href="https://x.com/calleymeans/status/2049893588985638974?s=20">said on social media.</a>
The president piled on, calling Cassidy a “very disloyal person” who “stood in the way” of RFK Jr.’s preferred nominee.
Trump, widely viewed as the GOP’s kingmaker, recently exacted revenge on a handful of Indiana Republicans who bucked his redistricting push. With Cassidy&#8217;s defeat, the White House is already shifting its attention to another bruising primary battle: backing Captain Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL, against Rep. &#8220;It shows that it&#8217;s really about Trump,&#8221; Girdusky said. &#8220;It shows that voters have this innate belief that he has their best interests at heart, and that he is feeling the anger that they&#8217;re feeling of betrayal from the elected officials.&#8221;
