A four-term Democrat Texas state representative who broke with her party and sided with the GOP on bills such as one banning gender-transitioning surgeries for minors and another designed to remove sexually explicit books from school libraries has announced she will join the Republican Party.
Houston Democrat Shawn Thierry, who lost her seat in a May runoff, announced her decision on Friday.
“As a woman, a mother, and a lawmaker, I have dedicated my life to championing the values that fortify our families and uplift our communities. After much reflection, prayer, and soul-searching, I have come to a decision that aligns with my core values and the best interests of our beloved country,” she wrote on X.
“For my entire adult life, I have voted as a Democrat. I was raised in a household with my amazing parents who believed the Democratic Party was the party of the people—a beacon of justice and opportunity for all,” she recalled. “But as the years have passed, I have watched with dismay as the party I once knew has drifted far from its roots. It has become almost unrecognizable—radicalized and increasingly out of touch with the values that millions of everyday Americans hold dear. The Democratic Party has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies that I cannot, in good conscience, support policies like promoting sex changes for children during a vulnerable stage of their lives, and dismantling Title IX protections for women in sports.”

“This is not the party I grew up with,” she continued. “I have witnessed firsthand how the so-called ‘liberal’ left now stifles thoughtful debate, silencing dissent with an iron fist—demanding blind allegiance to ideology, where one must ‘comply or be cast out.’ This is not the Democratic Party I once supported and represented.”
“And so today, at such a time as thus, I am officially announcing that I am leaving the ranks and rancor of the Democratic Party elite. I now stand with the party of Lincoln, the party that fought to preserve our Union and fought to end the atrocities of slavery. In 2024, the Republican Party champions economic empowerment, by investing in Historically Black colleges and universities like the one I proudly graduated from. It’s the party of parents, believing that they have the fundamental right to determine the best educational environments for their children to learn, grow, and succeed. It is the party that fosters prosperity and entrepreneurial opportunities, enabling small business owners to not just survive, but to thrive, fulfilling the promise of the American dream. Mothers around our country from all backgrounds, races, and communities understand that it’s our sacred duty to preserve the innocence of our children, protect them from being sexualized, and sterilized. To respect universal truths, and to uphold the rights of biological women as defined by science, nature, and common sense. I am leaving the left because the left has abandoned Democrats who feel betrayed by a party that has lost its way, lost its commitment to hard working families.”
“I know that by making this choice, my choice, I will face relentless attacks, criticism, and mischaracterization,” she wrote. “But I will complete my faith walk. Scripture reminds us in Job 13, ‘Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.’ And so, I trust that God will guide me and cover me as I step into this new chapter of my life. It is time to shift our consciousness from the distractions of personalities to the substance of real policies. I will not be alone; I will be with millions of courageous women and men of good conscience, who are willing to place people over political ideology. So, I will continue to be a change maker and a champion for children. Censured, but not silenced, I will use my voice to amplify the voices of women everywhere —women who are willing to make waves across America. Together, we can nurture and protect our children by creating a safer, brighter future for them. Together, we can restore the spirit, security, and soul of America.”

She said in a statement that she voted to ban minors from receiving &#8220;GnRH-analogs, (i.e. &#8216;puberty blockers&#8217;), cross sex hormones, and to undergo irreversible surgeries when experiencing gender dysphoria&#8221; after speaking with constituents and &#8220;reviewing the scientific data in this country and around the globe.&#8221;

Republicans are gaining ground on Democrats in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, registering more new voters than Democrats in July.
Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/local/philadelphia/2024/08/27/pennsylvania-voter-registration-republican-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Tuesday that Republicans added 19,127 new voters to their rolls in July, while Democrats added 17,495. For the year, Republicans are outpacing Democrats in new voter registration in Pennsylvania, leading 94,603 to 87,325, according to the state. The gains for Republicans in Pennsylvania include the all-important Bucks County — to the northeast of Philadelphia — as the GOP is leading the Democrats in new voter registration for the first time in the county in 15 years, according to the <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/politics/election/bucks-county-pennsylvania-registered-republicans-20240724.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Philadelphia Inquirer</a>.
&#8220;It’s a morale booster, it’s something we’ve been targeting for years,” Bucks County GOP Chair Pat Poprik said.
Democrats still hold a lead over Republicans in total registered voters in Pennsylvania, with 3.9 million to the GOP&#8217;s 3.5 million.

Pennsylvania is arguably the most important swing state in the 2024 election, and the Trump campaign is heavily focused on reaching out to voters there. President Joe Biden took the state in the 2020 election by more than <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/results-pennsylvania.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">81,000 votes,</a> boosted by a 17,000-vote advantage in Bucks County. In Donald Trump&#8217;s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton, he <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2016/results/pennsylvania" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> Pennsylvania by more than 44,000 votes, coming close to Clinton&#8217;s vote tally in Bucks County.
The Trump campaign and Republican Party are also pushing for Pennsylvania Republicans to embrace mail-in ballots and absentee voting. The campaign launched SwampTheVoteUSA.com on Monday, which RNC Chairman Michael Whatley <a href="https://www.post-gazette.com/news/election-2024/2024/08/27/trump-campaign-gop-push-mail-in-voting-absentee-pennsylvania-voters/stories/202408270072" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> &#8220;will make it faster, easier, and more secure than ever for patriots in the Keystone State to deliver their mail ballots for President Trump.&#8221;

Trump has held multiple campaign rallies in Pennsylvania in the past two months, including the gathering in Butler when a would-be assassin attempted to kill him on July 13. The Republican nominee is <a href="https://www.donaldjtrump.com/events/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scheduled</a> to return to Pennsylvania for a rally in Johnstown Friday afternoon.
Trump&#8217;s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), has also made multiple stops in Pennsylvania, including an <a href="https://thehill.com/video-clips/4851686-watch-live-jd-vance-courts-voters-pennsylvania/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">event</a> on Wednesday where he is expected to speak at a shipping and warehousing company in Erie. Trump has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-to-hold-rally-in-town-of-assassination-attempt-to-honor-supporters-who-were-shot" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promised</a> to return to the town where he was shot for another rally before the election.
Trump is in a dead heat with Vice President Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania, according to the <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/pennsylvania/trump-vs-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics</a> polling average.

Like all elections, the 2024 presidential election will bring a new wave of Americans to the polls. This year, many Gen-Z members will cast their vote for the first time. As someone who spent 40 years working with America’s youth as a coach and educator, I am proud that our country encourages our young people to make their voices heard. 
This presidential election happens to be an incredibly consequential one too. It’s a choice between two distinct visions for America. I believe President Trump’s vision for our country will bring young voters into the Republican Party like we’ve never seen before. And there is good reason to believe this will happen.
Let’s look at the two different visions for America. On one hand, you have President Trump’s vision of a free, prosperous, and safe America where young people can work hard to achieve the American dream. According to President Trump’s vision, merit, content of character, and love of country will bring you success.
On the other hand, there is the Democratic Party which is the political wing of the “Woke HR Complex” that is ruling our country today. This Woke HR Complex includes corporate America, the mainstream media, Hollywood, and the higher education system. Together, this regime determines winners and losers in our country based on identity, like racial and sexual identity, and judges you based on your adherence to Wokism. It’s like a country-wide HR department that polices people who dare challenge the prevailing liberal narrative.
The main rule of the Woke HR Complex is simple: in order to succeed, make sure you adhere 100% to the standards of political correctness and identity politics. Be sure to never offend the liberal sensibilities of the regime. If you ask questions, you will be labeled an “extremist,” “conspiracy theorist,” or worse. If you transgress the Complex, you will be disciplined, like an HR department, for attempting to think freely.
Gone are the days of Democrats being the party of “free thinkers,” anti-establishment figures, and working-class populists. Democrats like RFK Jr. or Tulsi Gabbard who bravely questioned the liberal-elite narrative were outlawed and ostracized by the Party. 
It is my belief that young Americans will reject this vision for our country. Young people don’t want to be told that they must think a certain way or that they are a prisoner to their own circumstances. They don’t want to be reduced to their skin color, sexual preferences, or by how well they adhere to liberal cultural guidelines. Young people inherently like to challenge the status quo—and the Democratic Party doesn’t permit its members to do so.
Instead, young people want a country that gives them an opportunity stand on their own two feet. They want to think for themselves and not be canceled for questioning the Complex’s equation for success. They’re growing tired of the same old liberal talking points parroted by the media, universities, and corporate America—they want to break free. 
It’s probably why politically incorrect or “edgy” entertainers are making a splash with young people. Take the massive popularity of comedians like Shane Gillis and Joe Rogan. Online streamers are also gaining huge followings for speaking their mind. Trump’s campaign understands this phenomenon and has brilliantly set-up interviews between President Trump and prominent influencers like Jake Paul and Adin Ross. Young people are drawn to these figures because they question the Complex’s narrative—and they see that President Trump is doing the same. If polls are to be believed, perhaps this is why Trump is making inroads with young voters.
In my own experience as a coach, I’ve worked with thousands of young people across the country. I had kids of all races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds on my teams. I’ve coached both men and women’s sports. What was common with all these young adults is that they believed in working hard and earning success on their own merit. They loved to ask questions to figure out how to be the best. They needed a leader to guide them and encourage them to ask questions, not police their thoughts and actions. Similarly, President Trump will provide our Nation’s young people with the environment and the tools needed to prosper.
Many Republican pundits will say that it’s President Trump’s policies that are winning young people over. I agree that his excellent policies play a big part. But many Establishment Republicans don’t see what’s so obvious to young voters: President Trump is a breath of fresh air in the stuffy HR department age we live in. 
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that when young Americans mark an “X” next to Donald J. Trump’s name on Nov. 5, they are taking a revolutionary stance against the toxic groupthink culture represented by Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party. I believe that President Trump offers an alternative to the Woke HR Complex and that many young Americans will choose this path in November.

A few U.S. Senators released statements over the weekend after Secretary of Defense <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lloyd-austin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lloyd Austin</a> canceled plea deals that were given to three of the terrorists who were behind the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
The administration faced severe backlash after news of the plea deal — which included sparing the terrorists the death penalty in exchange for them pleading guilty to the events of that day and the murder of 2,976 people — was made public. The administration later removed retired Brig. Gen. Susan K. Escallier, the person who offered the deal, from overseeing the case and canceled the offer.
Under the pretrial agreements, 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin ‘Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi would have served, at most, life sentences in prison.
&#8220;We are glad that Secretary Austin came to his senses, heeded our warning, and decided to take the concerns of 9/11 victims and families seriously,&#8221; said a joint statement from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR).
&#8220;The Biden-Harris Administration’s consideration of a plea deal with terrorist mass murderers was disgraceful. America deserves a Commander-in-Chief committed to peace through strength, not chaos through weakness,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;The President must know that we continue to watch this situation closely. The Justice for 9/11 Act is introduced, and if the Administration ever changes course, we stand ready to overturn any future cowardly plea deals with the murderous mastermind of that tragic day.&#8221;
The senators added that the U.S. &#8220;must never flinch in holding terrorists accountable for their actions.&#8221;

&#8220;Now deliver long awaited justice for 9/11 families,&#8221; he added.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) also commented on the reversal, posting on X: &#8220;I firmly believe that Secretary Austin did the right thing and exercised good command judgement by revoking the plea deal for the 9/11 mastermind and his accomplices.&#8221;
&#8220;The previous plea deal would have sent absolutely the wrong signal to terrorists throughout the world,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I know the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks will appreciate this — as do I.&#8221;

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk shot back at reports that he&#8217;s donating $45 million each month to boost former President Donald Trump&#8217;s campaign, telling Dr. Jordan B. Peterson in a live <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/dr-peterson-x-elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DailyWire+ interview</a> earlier this week that media&#8217;s reporting &#8220;is simply not true.&#8221;
Musk, who supported Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, &#8220;fully&#8221; endorsed Trump shortly after the former president was shot in the right ear by a 20-year-old gunman&#8217;s bullet at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania on July 13. The billionaire entrepreneur has become increasingly critical of the Democratic Party and what he calls the Left&#8217;s support of the &#8220;woke mind virus.&#8221;
After Musk endorsed Trump, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/elon-musk-has-said-he-is-committing-around-45-million-a-month-to-a-new-pro-trump-super-pac-dda53823" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Musk would be donating $45 million a month to his newly formed America PAC to help elect Trump in November. Trump commented on Musk&#8217;s reported donations during his rally on Saturday, saying, &#8220;He didn&#8217;t even tell me about it,&#8221; Fox Business <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/elon-musk-pushes-back-reports-hes-donating-45m-month-super-pac-backing-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. In his interview with Peterson on Monday and in a social media post on Tuesday, however, Musk denied that he was donating the massive monthly sum to support Trump.
&#8220;What&#8217;s been reported in the media is simply not true. I&#8217;m not donating $45 million a month to Trump,&#8221; Musk told Peterson. &#8220;What I have done is created a PAC [political action committee] or Super PAC &#8230; the America PAC.&#8221;
Later in the interview, Musk distanced himself from Trump&#8217;s campaign slogan, &#8220;Make America Great Again,&#8221; saying &#8220;the intent&#8221; of his America PAC &#8220;is to promote the principles that made America great in the first place.&#8221;

Kentucky Democratic Governor Andy Beshear, the son of a former governor, criticized the background of Donald Trump&#8217;s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), on Monday.
Beshear appeared on MSNBC and was asked if he would be open to being tapped as Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; running mate after President Joe Biden ended his re-election campaign on Sunday. After saying he would &#8220;at least listen&#8221; if Harris asked him to join her ticket, Beshear took a swipe at Trump&#8217;s VP choice.
&#8220;And I want the American people to know what a Kentuckian is and what they look like. Because let me just tell you that JD Vance ain&#8217;t from here,&#8221; Beshear said. &#8220;The nerve that he has to call the people of Kentucky, of eastern Kentucky, lazy. Listen, these are the hard-working coal miners that powered the industrial revolution, that created the strongest middle class the world has ever seen.&#8221;

Beshear&#8217;s criticism of Vance stems from the Republican senator&#8217;s 2016 book &#8220;Hillbilly Elegy,&#8221; where Vance describes growing up in a poor family who moved to western Ohio from Kentucky&#8217;s Appalachian region. After Trump selected Vance to run with him last week, the senator was slammed for how he depicted Appalachian communities in his memoir.
Vance was primarily raised by his maternal grandparents as his mother battled poverty and drug addiction. While Vance grew up in Middletown, Ohio, he spent time with his extended family in Jackson, Kentucky. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marines and graduated from Ohio State University and Yale Law School.
Beshear was born into one of Kentucky&#8217;s most powerful families. His father, Steve Beshear, served as a state representative from 1974 to 1980 and as the attorney general from 1980 to 1983. He then served as lieutenant governor from 1983 to 1987 before he was elected governor of Kentucky in 2007, serving until 2015. The younger Beshear followed in his father&#8217;s footsteps, serving as attorney general from 2016 to 2019 before he was elected governor.
An MSNBC host also criticized Vance after the vice presidential nominee said he wanted to be buried in his family&#8217;s plot in Kentucky. The host, Alex Wagner, <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-host-calls-jd-vance-wanting-to-be-buried-in-family-plot-an-easter-egg-of-white-nationalism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> Vance&#8217;s wish an &#8220;Easter egg of white nationalism.&#8221;
During his speech at the Republican National Convention last week, Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jd-vance-introduces-his-mom-at-rnc-celebrates-her-10-years-of-sobriety" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened up</a> about his family and introduced his mother to the crowd.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro responded with a six-minute video on Sunday to President Joe Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-drops-out-of-presidential-race?topStoryPosition=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcing</a> he would be ending his campaign while finishing his first term in office.
Shapiro said the unprecedented announcement, which Biden made less than four months before the 2024 election, opens up &#8220;massive&#8221; questions for the Democratic Party, especially Vice President Kamala Harris, whom Biden threw his support <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-endorses-harris-to-be-democrats-new-nominee?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">behind</a> after dropping out. The Daily Wire host began his video by addressing how Biden made the huge announcement in a letter that was posted on the president&#8217;s X account.
&#8220;You would figure that he would do a sort of &#8216;farewell&#8217; press conference,&#8221; Shapiro said.
&#8220;He is not retiring from the presidency itself. He is only saying that he is not going to run, which leaves open a massive question as to why exactly he is qualified to continue running the country right now, but he is not qualified to continue running for the nomination of the Democratic Party.&#8221;
&#8220;He is not leaving because he is senile. He is leaving because he is losing,&#8221; Shapiro added.

Another question Democrats must consider, according to Shapiro, is how they will campaign if Harris is granted the Democratic nomination.
&#8220;All of the attacks that have been leveraged against Joe Biden can now be leveraged against Kamala Harris,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And because he&#8217;s not stepping down from the presidency, the question is going to be to Kamala Harris, &#8216;You know he&#8217;s too senile to be President of the United States. Why don&#8217;t you 25th Amendment him? Why don&#8217;t you push him out?'&#8221;

Shapiro also pointed out that if Harris becomes the nominee while Biden finishes the final months of his second term, it puts the vice president &#8220;between a rock and a hard place.&#8221;
&#8220;On the one hand, she doesn&#8217;t want to be responsible for everything Biden is doing; on the other hand, she can&#8217;t actually control the government,&#8221; he said. &#8220;She can&#8217;t actually control anything. &#8230; She is an extraordinarily vulnerable candidate.&#8221;
Shapiro added that he doubts any of the leaders of the Democratic Party, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, would want to make a move for the nomination in an open convention. Instead, those Democrats could &#8220;wait this one out, watch Kamala Harris go down in flames, and then bank on 2028,&#8221; said Shapiro.
&#8220;This is a total mess for the Democratic Party.&#8221;
Earlier this month, Shapiro <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/scamala-kamala-harris-unmasked" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a three-part series dissecting how Harris rose through the political ranks of the Democratic Party, an ascent Shapiro described as being marked by &#8220;deceit and corruption.&#8221;
The Daily Wire editor emeritus said that Republicans have some questions to answer as well.

The GOP platform then goes into detail on how the party will tackle major policy positions on social issues such as abortion, &#8220;woke and weaponized government,&#8221; and &#8220;left-wing gender insanity.&#8221; The Republican Party platform&#8217;s position on abortion was a noticeable change from its last platform, focusing more on protecting state laws on abortion instead of addressing the issue at a national level.
The RNC Convention begins in Milwaukee next Monday. Along with Trump becoming the official nominee, Republicans will also find out who the former president will tap as his running mate. Trump will head to the convention following a major debate victory against Biden as the White House continues to assuage fears about the 81-year-old president&#8217;s mental and physical stamina.

The Republican National Committee is hyping its upcoming convention in Milwaukee, at which former President Donald Trump is expected to be officially nominated as the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
The start of the convention is 10 days away, scheduled to begin on July 15 and last through July 18. The RNC prepared a short video hyping the three-day event that was first obtained by The Daily Wire.
The video is about 15 seconds long and is narrated by Republican Rep. Bryan Steil of Wisconsin. It features scenic video of Milwaukee, images of preparations taking place at the convention center, footage from Trump&#8217;s campaign, along with other images.
“Our nation’s at a crossroad and in July, Wisconsin will be in the driver’s seat. See you in Milwaukee,” Steil says as the shots flash by.

The convention is expected to attract 50,000 delegates, officials, and other guests. Roughly 10,000 hotel rooms have been booked in Wisconsin to accommodate the attendees. According to one estimate, the event’s economic impact is <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/money/real-estate/commercial/2024/02/09/heres-how-the-rnc-ranks-among-other-big-milwaukee-events/72269409007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expected</a> to be around $200 million for the state of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is shaping up to be a key battleground state in the 2024 presidential race. Trump currently has a slight edge over President Joe Biden, whose campaign has struggled to overcome a wave of opposition from Democrats after his feeble debate performance last week. Trump is running two points ahead of Biden in the <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/wisconsin/trump-vs-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Real Clear Politics</a> polling average for Wisconsin. The latest poll, conducted by Remington Research after last week’s debate, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-poll-shows-bidens-election-problems-widespread-among-democrats-in-key-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">showed</a> Trump leading Biden in the state by 6 points.
Trump is expected to name his vice presidential choice either just ahead of the convention or during it. He has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-hes-decided-on-a-running-mate-expects-this-person-to-attend-debate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teased</a> his pick for weeks leading up to the event. The reported finalists for the spot include North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is also reportedly in contention, though his position is complicated by laws surrounding the residency of the president and vice president. Rubio would have to establish his residence outside of the state of Florida. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas have also been mentioned.

As the 2024 election nears, the Democratic National Committee is doubling down on its effort to make abortion laws in Republican-led states a top issue for voters.
In addition to investing $8.3 million across every state party in the country for 2024, the DNC is also committing to handing out grants of more than $1 million to battleground states to hone their messaging on abortion, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/abortion-dnc-2024-election-red-states/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, citing a party memo that was circulated on Monday, the second anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
&#8220;As we mark the second anniversary of Dobbs, our work to mobilize voters continues today and lasts through November,&#8221; DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin wrote in the memo. &#8220;The only way to restore and expand women&#8217;s reproductive freedoms is reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris, and electing Democrats up and down the ballot.&#8221;
Democrats are &#8220;building infrastructure in red states to fight back against these bans,&#8221; according to the memo. That infrastructure will include the &#8220;Red State Fund,&#8221; which focuses on putting Democrats on the offensive in Republican-leaning states and seeks to provide voters with pro-abortion resources. The DNC put $4.5 million into the &#8220;Red State Fund&#8221; for 2023-2024, according to CBS News.
The DNC memo also called out presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, claiming that he supports a national abortion ban. Trump, however, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/10/politics/trump-says-he-wouldnt-sign-federal-abortion-ban/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in April that he would not sign a national abortion ban if he&#8217;s elected to a second term in the White House. The former president also criticized Arizona&#8217;s near-total abortion ban and questioned Florida&#8217;s six-week abortion limitations.
Democrats have repeatedly sought to shift voters&#8217; focus to abortion ahead of the 2024 election as President Biden continues to struggle in the polls and recently dipped to all-time <a href="https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/biden-approval-rating/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">low approval ratings</a>. Since the overturning of Roe in June of 2022, the pro-abortion side has won every abortion-related ballot measure, even in red states.
With Biden <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/elections/president/2024/battleground-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trailing</a> Trump in the polls in the vital battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, Democrats are doubling down on abortion messaging. &#8220;American soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines joined allies and took the fight to the Axis powers not as a first instinct, but as a last resort. They ended a war that the free world’s inaction had left them no choice but to fight,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Generations have taken pride in the triumph of the West’s wartime bravery and ingenuity, from the assembly lines to the front lines. We reflect less often on the fact that the world was plunged into war, and millions of innocents died, because European powers and the United States met the rise of a militant authoritarian with appeasement or naïve neglect in the first place.&#8221;
&#8220;We forget how influential isolationists persuaded millions of Americans that the fate of allies and partners mattered little to our own security and prosperity. We gloss over the powerful political forces that downplayed growing danger, resisted providing assistance to allies and partners, and tried to limit America’s ability to defend its national interests,&#8221; he warned. &#8220;Today, America and our allies face some of the gravest threats to our security since Axis forces marched across Europe and the Pacific. And as these threats grow, some of the same forces that hampered our response in the 1930s have re-emerged.&#8221;
