The GOP’s Site Selection Committee chose <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/milwaukee">Milwaukee</a> to host the 2024 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/republican-national-convention">Republican National Convention</a> in a recommendation to the Party on Friday.
The committee&#8217;s selection will now go to a vote for final approval during the Party&#8217;s August meeting in Chicago, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/07/15/republican-national-convention-milwaukee-00046172">according</a> to Politico.
“Today, the Site Selection Committee voted to recommend Milwaukee to host the 2024 Republican National Convention and it is a testament to the forthright and professional behavior embraced by Milwaukee’s city leaders throughout the process,” RNC Senior Adviser Richard Walters said. “A final decision will be made by Chairwoman [Ronna] McDaniel and the full RNC in the coming weeks.”
Wisconsin’s largest city got the nod from the Republican selection committee over Nashville after two Nashville city council members reportedly stopped a draft agreement to host the Republican National Convention from making it on the meeting agenda at the last minute.
The bill slated to go before Nashville’s Metro Council last week was pulled after a request from the Nashville Host Committee. The Host Committee asked the council to remove the request from the agenda to give members more time “to address multiple concerns and objections,” from council members, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/2022/07/05/draft-agreement-rnc-withdrawn-nashville-council/7812770001/">reported</a>.
Milwaukee is fresh off hosting the Democratic Party’s <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/17/us/politics/democratic-convention-milwaukee.html">2020 national convention</a> that saw a mere 300 attendees due to COVID restrictions. The city stands in an important swing state that voted for former President Donald Trump in 2016 before flipping to the Democrats in 2020. Wisconsin Democratic Governor Tony Evers is up for re-election in November in what is expected to be a <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/governor/Wisconsin.html">tight race</a>.
Wisconsin Republican gubernatorial candidate Rebecca Kleefisch commented on the move to make Milwaukee the host city and predicted a Republican governor will be there to greet the Party when it shows up in 2024.

&#8220;The View&#8221; co-host Sunny Hostin referred to black conservatives as &#8220;people props&#8221; that Republicans trot out to garner votes from black Americans.
During a discussion about a poll out of Florida showing Biden losing ground among Hispanic voters in that state, Hostin said that she wasn’t surprised by the results, and also not surprised that black Americans are not voting for Trump, despite his promises.
&#8220;I actually wasn&#8217;t surprised to hear it because Cubans in Florida typically do vote Republican,&#8221; began Hostin. &#8220;That wasn&#8217;t a surprise to me. It wasn&#8217;t a surprise to me that black voters are overwhelmingly the backbone of the Democratic Party—83% in favor of Biden.&#8221;
&#8220;You know, you hear all of this coming from the Trump campaign about how black people have nothing to lose and they are gonna overwhelmingly vote for Trump, and you had all the black people props all over the RNC talking about all the stuff they’ve done for the black community,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;You heard Sarah Sanders yesterday talking about all the things that have been done for the black community by the Trump administration. They&#8217;re not voting for Trump. So, the poll wasn’t really that surprising to me because Latinos have been very supportive, and have voted Republican for quite some time.&#8221;

Sunny Hostin is far from the first Democrat operative to dehumanize black conservatives so nonchalantly. Shortly after the RNC, Politico also referred to convention speaker Alice Johnson as someone who was &#8220;propped up&#8221; by the Trump campaign to tout criminal justice reform.

Joy Reid of MSNBC even went <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/msnbcs-joy-reid-black-rnc-speakers-trotted-out-to-make-white-americans-feel-good-about-white-nationalism">as far as to suggest</a> that the black RNC speakers were “trotted out to make white Americans feel comfortable about white nationalism,” while Elie Mystal at the far-left publication <a href="https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/rnc-black-republicans/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Nation</a> seemed to compare them to Judas Iscariot—the apostle who betrayed Jesus Christ.
“What anger I have for this particular crop of Black tokens comes from the fact that so many of them volunteered,” he wrote. “These were not schoolboys trying to get by at prep school or single moms trying to hang onto their jobs. These were grown-ass adults, predominantly men, who could have sat this grift out but raised their hands to confirm white bias and quote scripture while doing it. We know Trump doesn’t like to pay his debts, so I hope they got their 30 pieces of silver up front.”
Shortly after night one of the RNC, which featured the likes of NFL great Herschel Walker and GOP Congressional candidate Kim Klacik, racial slurs such as “Uncle Tom” began trending on Twitter.
“Whether through sheer coincidence — or not — ‘Uncle Tom’ was one of the top trending topics on Twitter Tuesday morning following the opening night of the Republican National Convention (RNC) that featured several Black men making the case for Donald Trump to be re-elected,” reported <a href="https://newsone.com/4001965/uncle-tom-trends-on-twitter-after-republicans-trot-out-black-defenders-at-the-rnc/">News One</a>. “More than 6,000 ‘Uncle Tom’ tweets were posted following speeches from Democratic Georgia State Rep. Vernon Jones, former professional football star Herschel Walker and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.”

On Sunday, substituting for host Joy Reid on MSNBC’s “Morning Joy,” host Tiffany Cross disparagingly referred to the speakers of color at the Republican National Convention, including Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker, as “minstrels,” snapping, “It really did look like a modern-day minstrel show to me.”
Cross preceded her nasty remark by playing clips of various speakers of color, starting with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who stated in her speech, “In much of the Democratic Party, it’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.”
Cross followed with a clip of Walker asserting, “Growing up in the Deep South, I’ve seen racism up close. I know what it is, and it isn’t Donald Trump.”
The next clip featured Scott saying, “Our family went from cotton to Congress in one lifetime, and that’s why I believe the next American century can be better than the last.”
Cross pontificated, “That was not a Saturday Night Live sketch. Welcome back to AM Joy. I’m Tiffany Cross. If you watched the Republican National Convention last week, you’d almost think that the Republican Party was the one welcoming people of color, given the big display of diversity. The convention featured more than a dozen African American speakers alone.”
“But—don’t be fooled that the party of Trump has suddenly warmed to the same people that Trump’s policies and sometimes his rhetoric directly harms,” she continued. “As friend of the show Elie Mystal wrote so eloquently in The Nation, ‘Republicans invited a cadre of professional black friends to validate Donald Trump and make white people feel a little less racist while still very much supporting white supremacy.’”
Cross mocked, “I mean, I watched the Republican convention, and seeing the slew of black speakers that they had, it really did look like a modern-day minstrel show to me.”
<a href="https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/minstrel">Merriam-Webster</a> defines a “minstrel” as a “member of a type of performance troupe caricaturing black performers that originated in the U.S. in the early 19th century. NOTE: The acts of minstrels, who typically performed in <a href="https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/blackface">blackface</a>, featured exaggerated and inaccurate representations of black people in songs, dances, and comic dialogue. The popularity of minstrel shows in their heyday played a significant role in promoting negative racial stereotypes. Professional minstrel shows had fallen out of favor and effectively disappeared by the mid-20th century.”
The accusation that speakers of color at the Republican National Convention constitute a “minstrel show” goes back years. In 2003, New York Times opinion writer Maureen Dowd, referring to the 2000 convention that nominated George W. Bush, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2003/06/25/opinion/could-thomas-be-right.html">wrote</a> of “W.&#8217;s nominating convention in Philadelphia, when the Republicans put on a minstrel show for the white fat cats in the audience.”
As radio host Larry Elder <a href="https://www.larryelder.com/column/whitney-houston-critics-called-her-too-white-black-republicans-can-relate/">wrote</a> in February 2012 of black Republican Michael Steele running for lieutenant governor of Maryland:
<blockquote> … he was derided as “Simple Sambo” and depicted as a black-faced minstrel. At a gubernatorial debate, Oreo cookies were distributed by the opposition. The Washington Times later wrote: “Delegate Salima Siler Marriott, a black Baltimore Democrat, said Mr. Steele invites comparisons to a slave who loves his cruel master or a cookie that is black on the outside and white inside because his conservative political philosophy is, in her view, anti-black.&#8221;</blockquote>

Pro-Trump Democratic Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones called on federal investigators Friday to look into the origin of the mobs that harassed him and other attendees of the Republican National Convention.
&#8220;Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and the entire DNC and Congress and all the state heads and chairs of Democratic parties, they need to come out and denounce this hatred, this vitriol, condemn Black Lives Matter and then Antifa,&#8221; <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/vernon-jones-investigations-dc" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jones told Fox News</a>.
&#8220;Congress should hold hearings [&#8230;] and hear testimonies from those of us who are being attacked. It should also do a thorough investigation to see who&#8217;s funding &#8230; these professional domestic terrorists, and they should be held accountable,&#8221; he added.
Jones was among the several lawmakers and others who were accosted by protesters Thursday as they left the South Lawn of the White House on the final night of the Republican National Convention.
According to footage of the incident outside the White House, belligerent Black Lives Matter activists surrounded Jones, asking him if he was Trump supporter and demanding he say Breonna Taylor&#8217;s name.

Jones delivered an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/georgia-democrat-torches-his-party-during-rnc-convention-infected-with-bigotry-tolerating-violence" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">endorsement speech</a> for President Donald Trump on Monday in which he torched his party for tolerating violence and being &#8220;infected&#8221; with &#8220;bigotry.&#8221; He afterward tweeted, &#8220;Yesterday, I addressed the Republican National Convention. I’m a lifelong Democrat, but I’m breaking free. The Left doesn’t own me. I’m breaking the chains.&#8221;

Jones&#8217;s call for an investigation echoed Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who was also targeted by a mob, which required him to move with a police escort.
As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rand-paul-attackers-may-have-been-paid-and-from-out-of-town-id-be-dead-if-it-werent-for-the-police" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a>, Paul was also suspicious that the protests roiling Washington, D.C., were organized and funded by interstate groups:

This mob is their voters. This is the new Democrat Party, and if we don’t resist this, United States is going to become Portland. We’re going to become Chicago. All of these failed cities Democrats have run—the president said it in his speech—if we allow them to take over the White House, we are going to become Portland, the country will be on fire. We have to have law and order and we have to support the police. I can’t say that strong enough.&#8221;</blockquote>

If the election were held today, Joe Biden would most likely win. Democrats could probably capture the Senate. The problem for Democrats is that the election is not today and the Republicans have had a good convention.
After the Democrats&#8217; convention, President Donald Trump went up five points with independent voters in a CBS News poll. I am hard-pressed to find previous conventions where one candidate got a bump from the other candidate&#8217;s convention. Trump has drawn close to Biden in swing state polls. Polling averages in several key states, including Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, have Trump closer to Biden right now than Trump was against Clinton.
That has Democrats concerned, and rightly so. Republicans orchestrated a convention that left much of the media and Democrats screaming, but the convention was never for them, anyway. The convention was not really even for the Republican base. It was for voters who may not like Trump but do like a lot of his policies. It was for voters who like Biden but harbor concerns about progressivism.
Democrats had an opportunity to address those voters, but they failed. They wanted to make their convention a Manichean dichotomy between lightness and dark, good and evil, Biden and Trump. They could have addressed rioters and looters. They could have addressed crime. They chose not to.
Pew Research, one of the best pollsters in the country, routinely surveys voters on the issues they care about. Four years ago, crime was not even in the top 10 issues voters were concerned about. Now the issue is the fifth most important issue voters care about. Gun control is the seventh most important issue. On both, many voters favor the GOP over the Democrats. Many voters also favor Trump to handle the economy. But the virus continues to drag down the President.
If the virus recedes, the President&#8217;s popularity could increase. In fact, it appears that is happening. On Wednesday of this past week, The New York Times noted the virus has declined 21% over the past two weeks. Each of the past several weeks have seen declines in most states, and as the virus declines, Trump moves up in polling.
Between the virus receding and rioters burning businesses and destroying livelihoods, Trump has a real path to victory in November. The Democrats failed to address the riots, and now many voters believe Biden supports defunding police departments, which most voters oppose. Biden, in fairness, is opposed to the idea, but he ceded the ground to the GOP, which is taking advantage of the issue.
Republicans, however, have their own problem. Their stagecraft, unaided by Hollywood elite and not filled with celebrities, relies on real people with real stories of how Trump has helped them. More than one of them said they did not vote for Trump in 2016, but he kept his promises, and they will support him now. More than one Democrat came forward to endorse him, and the stage was filled with a diverse array of people.
The Vice President and the President hit all the right notes. Nikki Haley and Sen. Tim Scott provided sound voices for reelection that connected with people who do not like the President and want a return to the age of something resembling normal. The week was well done, and the GOP should be proud, but there is that problem. It is defined by two words: President Trump.
All the stagecraft, messaging, themes and people in support of the President can be undercut with a single tweet. The President is his own worst enemy in that regard. The base may love it, but they will vote for him regardless. Republicans just spent a week trying to give people who hate the President a reason to vote for him. Polling suggests they were headed in the right direction.
Unfortunately, Trump too often steps on his own momentum. Someone needs to take away his phone, discourage his tweeting and make him stay on the message so carefully put on display this past week.

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who lost both his legs while serving in Afghanistan, was leaving the Republican National Convention Thursday night when a group of Black Lives Matter activists surrounded him and began screaming questions at him.
Mast remained calm and collected throughout the event, as the lead instigator &#8212; a white woman &#8212; screamed a question at him: “What do you think about police killing black people in this country?”
Just prior to that, Daily Caller reporter Phillip Nieto was walking with Mast and filming him as he asked questions.
“What do you think of all these protests?” Nieto asked Mast.
“Everyone has a right to protest,” Mast replied. “That’s a beautiful thing.”
“You’re not afraid for your safety?” Nieto then asked.
“No,” Mast said, before the camera turned to show a group of activists following the congressman and closing in on him. “Should I be?”
At this point, a white woman with blond hair wearing all black approached Mast and asked angrily: “What do you think about police killing black people in this country?”
Mast didn’t immediately respond, so she asked her question again, this time louder. This time, Mast responded by telling her: “I don’t think anybody should get killed wrongly.”
This didn’t satisfy the woman or the crowd, so she yelled her question at him again. Mast responded that people have a “right to due process,” and the woman demanded he “answer the question that I am asking.”
Another person in the crowd asked: “How do you feel about abolition?”
“No! Answer the question. How do you feel about police killing black people in this country? In this city?” the white woman demanded.
“Anybody has a right to due process,” Mast replied.
The white woman then shouted her question at Mast, emphasizing each word.
Mast responded by telling her “it is morally wrong to take anybody’s life,” as several people in the crowd shout, “black people.”
The camera then showed that a larger crowd had formed around the congressman, and he begins walking away as they continue to shout at him.

Mast lost his legs nearly a decade ago, when he was 31, after being injured in a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. Offensive jokes he made to his friend &#8212; who is now his campaign manager &#8212; during that time have recently resurfaced as he faces a tough re-election campaign.
In 2011, Mast responded to a Facebook post from his friend and now-campaign manager Rocco LeDonni asking for pick-up lines by saying, “How about don’t turn this rape into a murder.” In another post, Mast joked about having sex with 15-year-old girls overseas. Mast apologized for the posts as soon as they were reported.

During his speech, Trump directly addressed the violent mobs that have sought to intimidate people across the country, as well as the riots and looting that have struck Democratic-controlled cities.
&#8220;This election will decide whether we save the American dream or whether we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our cherished destiny,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;As has foolishly been done for many decades, your vote will decide whether we protect law-abiding Americans, or whether we give free rein to violent anarchists and agitators and criminals who threatened our citizens. And this election will decide whether we will defend the American way of life or whether we will allow a radical movement to completely dismantle and destroy it. That won’t happen.&#8221;

“During their convention, Joe Biden and his supporters remained completely silent about the rioters and criminals spreading mayhem in Democrat-run cities,” Trump continued. “They never even mentioned it during their entire convention. Never once mentioned. Now, they are starting to mention it because their poll numbers are going down like a rock in water. It is too late, Joe. In the face of left-wing anarchy and mayhem in Minneapolis, Chicago, and other cities, Joe Biden’s campaign did not condemn it. They donated to it. At least 13 members of Joe Biden’s campaign staff donated to a fund to bailout vandals, arsonists, and anarchists, looters, and rioters from jail.”
“If the Democrat Party wants to stand with anarchists, agitators, rioters, looters, and flag burners, that is up to them,” Trump concluded. “But I, as your president, will not be part of it. Leftists assaulted a police officer that was protecting Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Thursday night as the senator left the White House.
Paul, who was accosted during the incident, later released a statement saying that he had been &#8220;attacked.&#8221; Multiple videos were posted to social media of the incident, which happened after the fourth and final night of the Republican National Convention.

This is not the first time that leftists have gotten physical with Paul, who was present at the Virginia baseball field in 2017 when a left-wing terrorist attempted to kill GOP lawmakers. He was also the victim of an attack by his neighbor, who was a Democrat.
“I was there at the ball field when Steven Scalise almost died from a very, very angry violent man who was incited really by rhetoric on the left,” Paul during an interview in 2018. “And this hasn’t been reported enough, when he came on the field with a semi-automatic weapon firing probably close to 200 shots at us, shooting five people and almost killing Steve Scalise, he was yelling ‘this is for healthcare! He also had a list of conservative legislators, Republicans, in his pocket that he was willing to kill.”
Paul&#8217;s neighbor was sentenced to 30 days in prison in June 2018 after pleading guilty to felony assault.
“No one deserves to be violently assaulted,” Paul <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/15/us/politics/rand-paul-attack.html">said</a>. “I commend the F.B.I. and Department of Justice for treating this violent, premeditated assault with the seriousness it deserves.”

“President Trump knows he inherited the first generation of Americans who couldn’t promise their children a better life than their own,” McConnell continued. “He’s made it his mission, of this administration to change that. I know because I work beside him every day. Today’s Democrat party doesn’t want to improve life for middle America. Ultimate Fighting Championship boss Dana White went all in on Thursday night during the Republican National Convention in endorsing President Donald Trump for a second term in office.
“I spoke at this convention four years ago, and I’m back because I believe we need President Trump’s leadership now more than ever,” White said. “Before the pandemic, President Trump built the greatest economy in our nation’s history and created opportunities for all Americans like no one before him. Financial markets hit all-time highs, unemployment was at an all-time low, and we weren’t facing the lawless destruction that now is occurring in a few of our great cities.”
“It blows my mind how quickly some of the leadership in this country has forgotten the critical role first responders play in our society,” White continued. “Police departments, and other law enforcement, even some fire departments have faced opposition from many in this country, but they are always the people who are asked to step up when things are at their worst, and put themselves at risk. That has certainly been the case during this ongoing pandemic. Come on, America. Defunding these vital positions is not the answer. The first responders have always taken care of us, and now more than ever, we need to take care of them.”
“Now, let’s talk about COVID, and let’s be very honest about it. No one person and no one place could have anticipated the challenges that COVID would bring,” White continued. “But President Trump has faced all these obstacles head on. He immediately put protective measures in place, and he reached out to the best and the brightest leading American businesses across all industries to discuss what he and his administration could do to get the economy back up and running safely.”
“Let me give you more detail,” White continued. “In early April, President Trump organized a task force of business leaders across the country, and I was fortunate enough to serve on that task force. UFC President Dana White Goes All In For Re-Electing Trump, Unloads On Those Demonizing Police

Ann Dorn, the wife of slain <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/retired-police-captain-was-murdered-while-protecting-his-friends-pawn-shop-during-riots-widow-says">former St. Louis Police Captain David Dorn</a>, called on governors and mayors to accept federal help in putting down violent riots after recounting the painful night that her husband was killed.
Ann spoke at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, the fourth and final night of the proceedings. Her husband, a 44-year veteran of law enforcement, died on June 2 while defending a friend’s pawnshop from rioters who were defacing and destroying property and looting businesses across the city. The riots broke out following protests over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis on May 25.
Ann recounted that David, a “friend to thousands,” once befriended a young man named Lee. The two bonded, and when Lee decided to start his own business and open a pawn shop, he asked David to help with security. David became the de facto man in charge of checking out the shop any time the alarm bell went off.
“Most of the time they were false alarms triggered by a storm or animals, but I never rested easily until I heard Dave’s key turn in the door knowing he was home safe,” Ann said.
“The alarm that went off the morning of June 2 was for real,” she continued, her voice cracking slightly as she began to recount her husband’s final moments.
She continued:
<blockquote>It was a violent night in St. Louis. Four officers were shot, others were hit with rocks and fireworks. At least five businesses were damaged, looted, or set on fire. As the Officer Wellness coordinator and CIT coordinator with the police department, I was keenly aware of the rioting, and I spent the evening getting ready to mobilize support for officers who were impacted.
After I had gone to bed, David received a call from Lee’s alarm company. The front door of the pawn shop had been breached. This time, he didn’t wake me up to tell me. He probably knew I would have tried to stop him, or insist on going with him. As I slept, looters were ransacking the shop. They shot and killed David in cold blood, and then live-streamed his execution and his last moments on Earth. David’s grandson was watching the video on Facebook in real time, not realizing he was watching his own grandfather dying on the sidewalk.
I learned of all this around 4 a.m. when our doorbell rang. The chief of police was standing outside. I wondered why Dave had not answered the door. It wasn’t uncommon for him to be up watching TV at this time. I called out to him several times; there was no reply. He just wasn’t there. I let in the chief, and fighting back tears, he uttered the words every officer’s spouse dreads.</blockquote>
Ann said that she hoped David’s story would help end the rioting, looting, and destruction that has surged in the biggest cities across the United States following Floyd’s death amid the coronavirus pandemic.
<blockquote>I relive that horror in my mind every single day. My hope is that having you relive it with me now will help shake this country from this nightmare we are witnessing in our cities, and bring about positive, peaceful change. How did we get to this point where so many young people are callous and indifferent towards human life? This isn’t a video game where you can commit mayhem and then just hit reset and bring all the characters back to life. David is never, never coming back to me. He was murdered by people who didn’t know and just didn’t care he would have done anything to help them.</blockquote>
Ann pleaded with local elected officials to accept aid from the federal government to “help restore order in our communities.”
“In a time when police departments are short on resources and manpower, we need that help. She worked with troubled youth, military veterans, and Native Americans. Everywhere Kayla went, people smiled. Kayla had a gift to be able to see the world through someone else’s eyes. She became a humanitarian aid worker, and when she was helping children at an orphanage in India, Kayla wrote, ‘I find God in the suffering eyes reflected in mine. If this is how you are revealed to me, this is how I will forever seek you.’&#8221;
&#8220;She went to Turkey to help Syrian refugees in 2012. In August 2013, she was asked by another aid worker to cross the border into Syria to help at a hospital,” Marsha Mueller continued. “On August 4, 2013, ISIS terrorists stopped her vehicle and took her captive.&#8221;
&#8220;Kayla was mostly held in a 12 x 12 cell in solitary confinement. It was cold and dirty. ISIS terrorists shined bright lights in her face,&#8221; Carl Mueller said. &#8220;They shaved her head, they beat her, and tortured her. The leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, raped her repeatedly. For 18 months, she endured, and we endured in agonizing back-and-forth between us, the Obama administration, and ISIS.&#8221;
&#8220;We put all our faith in the government, but the government let us down. President Obama refused to meet with us until ISIS had already beheaded other Americans,&#8221; Carl Mueller continued. &#8220;To this day, we never heard from Joe Biden. Instead, the Obama administration hid behind policy so much that we felt hopeless when they kept us from negotiating to save Kayla’s life. The administration showed more concern for the terrorists in Guantanamo than the American hostages in Syria.&#8221;
“The military prepared a rescue mission, but the White House delayed it,” Carl Mueller continued. “By the time it went forward, Kayla had been moved to another location. After 18 months of brutal torture, we learned from ISIS that Kayla had been killed. The Obama administration kept telling us they were doing everything they could, but their version of everything wasn’t enough.”
“What a difference a president makes,” Carl Mueller continued. “Under President Trump, U.S. Army special operators conducted a raid on al-Baghdadi’s compound. After we learned that al-Baghdadi was killed, we learned something else: the operators named themselves Task Force 814, after August 14, Kayla’s birthday. And the mission was named Operation Kayla Mueller. To those soldiers, thank you. Kayla was looking down on you.”
“The Trump team gave us empathy we never received from the Obama administration,” he said. “The Obama administration said it was doing everything it could; the Trump administration is. Let me just say this—Kayla should be here. If Donald Trump had been president when Kayla was captured, she would be here today.”
