WASHINGTON—As the White House pushes the Senate to pass President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;big, beautiful bill,&#8221; they&#8217;ve gathered workers from across the country in support of the massive legislation.
In a video first obtained by The Daily Wire, subcontractors from Kansas to New Mexico and Mississippi voice support for the bill, arguing that it will create massive opportunities for the middle class, specifically through its tax breaks, such as the 199A tax deduction.
Not all the subcontractors are named, but they include Brad Miller, who runs the Kansas-based Midwest Crane; Robert Abney, one of the leaders of F.L. Crane and Sons, Inc. in Mississippi; Marni Goodrich, director of business operations at Yearout Mechanical in New Mexico, and others.
&#8220;The 199A tax exemption is very important to our small businesses to be able to reinvest that money in their small business and have job growth,&#8221; explains one of these subcontractors.
Another unnamed subcontractor calls on her peers to encourage their senators to let them know that they support the bill, saying, &#8220;Get out to your senators!&#8221;
&#8220;We need to unite, we need to get to our senators, we need to get out there, make our voices heard, and we have to get this bill onto the president&#8217;s desk and get it executed as soon as possible,&#8221; said Andrew Christ, co-owner of Compass Constructors.
The video comes as the White House pushes Congress to pass the bill by July 4. The House already passed the legislation — which is full of the president&#8217;s second-term priorities and promises — and it is now up to the Senate to advance the package.
The White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/06/50-wins-in-the-one-big-beautiful-bill/">argues</a> that the bill would deliver the largest tax cut in American history, putting an extra $5,000 into the pockets of Americans with a double-digit percent decrease to their tax bills. It would also, according to the White House, make Trump&#8217;s first-term tax cuts permanent; raise Americans&#8217; take home pay by up to $13,300 and wages by up to $11,600; remove taxes on tips and overtime; provide funding to complete the president&#8217;s border wall and boosts Border Patrol and ICE agents on the frontlines; increase child tax credit to $2,500 per family, and more.
Critics argue that it would only add to the United States&#8217; already massive budget deficit. The national debt, as of Thursday, sits at $36,213,581,723,797, <a href="https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/national-debt/">according to the Treasury Department</a>.

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump held a White House roundtable on Monday to formally announce the &#8220;Trump Accounts&#8221; Pilot Program included in his &#8220;Big, Beautiful Bill.&#8221;
Under the &#8220;Trump Accounts&#8221; program, the federal government will mark the birth of every United States citizen with a one-time $1,000 contribution into a deferred, low-cost index fund, the White House said. The account, which will track the stock market, will be controlled by the guardians of the child.
While the accounts start at $1,000 per child, they allow for $5,000 additional dollars to be added every year throughout the life of that child.
&#8220;They&#8217;ll really be getting a big jump on life,&#8221; Trump said of the babies benefiting from the investments as he spoke Monday at the White House. The event was also attended by House Speaker Mike Johnson, a number of high-profile Republican lawmakers, and top CEOs Trump described as some of the greatest minds in business today.
“The passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill will literally change the lives of working, middle class families across America by delivering the largest tax cuts in history, increasing the child tax credit, AND by creating this incredible new &#8216;Trump Account&#8217; program, which will put the lives of young Americans on the right financial path,&#8221; White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement ahead of the roundtable.

During Thursday&#8217;s press briefing, Leavitt called the bill the &#8220;most significant piece of legislation in years.&#8221; While there were many &#8220;good faith&#8221; negotiations that went into crafting the bill, Leavitt argued that Trump&#8217;s actions to bring &#8220;all sides together&#8221; were what brought the bill over the finish line.
&#8220;This could not have happened without the President’s leadership,&#8221; Leavitt said in a post on X. &#8220;President Trump is the greatest closer in the history of presidential politics.&#8221;

House Republicans are urging the Senate not to water down any of the provisions they included in the reconciliation bill, warning that it may not make it through the House a second time if the Senate alters it too much.
“They cobbled together a very delicate balance over there,&#8221; Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/22/megabill-senate-republican-changes-00366407">reportedly</a> said. &#8220;But, you know, the Senate will have its imprint on it.”
“They’ve got to do what they can get 218 for, and we’ve got to do what we can get 51 for.”
For his part, Trump has heralded the bill as historic, promising it will be the most significant piece of legislation signed in American history. In a Truth Social post earlier this week, he touted the bill&#8217;s &#8220;massive tax cuts,&#8221; the inclusion of &#8220;no tax on tips,&#8221; &#8220;no tax on overtime,&#8221; &#8220;tax deductions when you purchase American made&#8221; vehicles, strong border security measures, pay raises for Border Patrol Agents and ICE, and more.

WASHINGTON—Border Czar Tom Homan is celebrating the passage of President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” reconciliation bill, arguing in an interview with The Daily Wire that the bill is pivotal to protecting the southern border and empowering border authorities to do their jobs.
“We’ve made a lot of progress on the border, but we want to keep it permanent,” he told The Daily Wire outside the White House Wednesday, ahead of the bill&#8217;s passage. “We need the money, not just for the border, but interior enforcement operations. Money for the border is gonna help continue building the border wall. Every place the border barrier&#8217;s been built, illegal immigration went down, illegal drug flow went down, so we gotta put more border wall up.”

The Republican-led House passed the bill in a 215 to 214 vote early Thursday morning, a significant victory for the president after back-to-back, all-night sessions in the Rules Committee and on the House floor.
The Trump administration has emphasized the massive role that the bill would play in securing the border. As he spoke with The Daily Wire on Wednesday, Homan broke down the specifics of how the bill would assist in guarding the United States from illegal entries.
There’s also technology in the existing border wall that must be implemented, Homan argued. Particularly in areas where there is not a wall, or authorities are unable to build a wall, the border czar said it is important to have the technology to “let us know when someone’s crossing the border.”
“We need the technology added to the wall so border patrol agents can communicate to one another in dead areas. It&#8217;s gonna let us know when people approach the wall, climb over the wall, dig under the wall. We need that technology. So wall and technology plus technology where there&#8217;s not a wall, right?”
“Also, technology at the ports of entry,” he added. “So trade can continue at a fast pace, but we have best technology, find drugs and other contraband coming through the ports.”
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also needs money, Homan pointed out.
“ICE is in the hole right now,” he explained. “They&#8217;ve got about 50,000 people in beds. We&#8217;re funded for 34,000. ICE is already in the hole, so if we want to continue this massive deportation operation, we need more money.”
He also touted the Trump administration’s success on the border thus far.
“We&#8217;re doing great. Right now, the criminals arrested by ICE are about three times higher than Joe Biden under the same timeframe, but it should be 10 times higher because Joe Biden wasn’t doing anything. So we need more money to do more.”
“People are asking, they don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s enough deportations, not enough ICE arrests,” he continued. “I agree with &#8217;em. I&#8217;m pushing for more arrests. We need money to do it. We need more money for boots on the ground. More money for detention beds. We should have at least a hundred thousand beds.”
“We need more for transportation contracts. We need more money for contractors to do jobs that don&#8217;t require a badge and gun. A badge and gun shouldn&#8217;t be doing administrative work. We need &#8217;em on the street wrestling bad guys. So we need money for all those things.”
Homan repeatedly emphasized that securing the border should be a bipartisan issue, noting that &#8220;there are a handful of Democrats that believe in border security and national security.&#8221;
&#8220;But as a party, you’re never gonna get every vote from every Democrat,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;&#8216;Cause I think a lot of &#8217;em put politics over public safety plus politics over national security.”
“I think there&#8217;s a political firestorm right now,” he explained. “I don&#8217;t think Democrats are ever gonna agree. Our success shows their failure. Our success shows the lies of the last administration saying the border is secure, showing they&#8217;re vetting everybody, and all the lies they told we&#8217;re proving &#8217;em wrong.”
“We&#8217;re proving &#8217;em wrong by arresting people that they released, they said were vetted. We find out they have significant criminal histories. We&#8217;re arresting national security threats every week that they said didn&#8217;t exist, and we truly secured the border. So I think our success shows their failure and they don’t wanna show that,” Homan shared.
Homan pointed out to The Daily Wire that he’s been involved with border security since 1984.
“I’ve worked for six different presidents. I&#8217;ve seen hundreds of policies come and go. I know what works, what doesn&#8217;t. What we&#8217;re doing right now is working. It&#8217;s a game changer.”
“There’s people who don&#8217;t want [us] to succeed,” he emphasized. “There’s members of Congress truly that don&#8217;t want President Trump to succeed, and I find that shocking as an American, as a taxpayer, as someone who&#8217;s dedicated 40 years to doing this, it&#8217;s shocking that every member of Congress, regardless of political opinion, why would you not want the President of the United States to succeed in securing the border and removing public safety threats and national security threats from this country?”
“Give us some money to deal with it, prove that you&#8217;re really representing your constituents,” he concluded. “Prove that you actually care about the safety and security of this country. Love your community more than you hate President Trump.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson is making plans to move rapidly on legislation on a multitude of issues if the GOP wins the White House and Senate and retains a majority in the House in November’s election.
Johnson asserted that in 2017, the GOP didn’t fully take advantage of the budget reconciliation process, by which they could have passed bills on multiple issues because they were focused on tax cuts.
“We did one round of health care reform, one round of tax reform, right, but there are multiple issue areas that we think can and should survive the Byrd Rule analysis and being allowed here. So we’re just looking at it from a very different, much more comprehensive approach. And I think there’s a lot of interest among House Republicans — and the outside groups of course — about what that can look like and what the potential is,” Johnson <a href="https://punchbowl.news/archive/53024-punchbowl-news-am/#__whatmikejohnsontoldusaboutisraelandhis2025plans__" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, according to Punchbowl News.
The Byrd rule can be cited by a senator to challenge provisions of a reconciliation bill.
Johnson is already planning on moving rapidly, saying the GOP “wasted at least a couple of months” during the first quarter of former President Donald Trump’s term; he surmised the GOP was not prepared because they thought Hillary Clinton would win the election.
“The cautionary analysis on that is that we’re going to have such an aggressive first 100 days agenda if we get unified government, which we anticipate will have, that it might encumber that agenda somewhat if you then have to deal with the appropriations process,” he said. “So we’re very carefully analyzing the number of calendar days that we’ll have to work, floor time, all the rest — everything that will be required to achieve all these big goals that we have. So that’s the analysis and there are a number of ideas on the table right now.”

Democrats in the Senate voted along party lines on Sunday to pass the so-called &#8220;Inflation Reduction Act.&#8221;
The bill was brought to a vote after an all-night floor session that began at around 11:30 p.m. ET Saturday night in a process known as a &#8220;vote-a-rama.&#8221; Debates on amendments lasted all night and into Sunday afternoon, when the bill was put up for a final vote at around 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. All 50 Democrats voted for the bill, while all 50 Republicans voted against it. Vice President Kamala Harris broke the tie vote.
The $740 billion legislation now heads to the House of Representatives, which is set to reconvene at the end of this week to vote on it, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3591443-senate-passes-sweeping-tax-climate-package-after-marathon-vote-harris-breaks-tie/">The Hill</a> reports.
The largest portion of the bill is a $369 billion climate spending package. An analysis conducted by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer&#8217;s office claims the spending will cut carbon emissions by 40% by 2030. The plan includes tax credits of $4,000 and $7,500 to buy used and new electric vehicles, but does not allow the credits to be used on vehicles that have batteries with materials processed in China. The bill also contains a 16.4 cents per barrel tax on crude oil and petroleum products imported into the U.S.
The bill also includes a number of Democratic health care priorities. The bill purports to lower the cost of prescription drugs for senior citizens by allowing Medicare to negotiate the prices of drugs administered by a doctor&#8217;s office or pharmacy. According to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/07/politics/senate-democrats-climate-health-care-bill-vote/index.html?utm_source=twCNN&amp;utm_content=2022-08-07T19%3A25%3A55&amp;utm_term=link&amp;utm_medium=social">CNN</a>, the bill allows the Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate prices for 10 drugs beginning in 2026, 15 drugs in 2027 in 2028, and 20 drugs per year from 2029 onward. The bill also extends Obamacare premium subsidies through 2025, a year later than originally discussed.
In terms of new taxes, the bill proposes to raise some $258 billion in new revenue by imposing a 15% minimum tax on companies with more than $1 billion in profits and force companies to follow &#8220;generally accepted accounting principles when reporting income to the IRS,&#8221; The Hill reports. The bill also imposes a 1% excise tax on stock buybacks, which is estimated to take in some $74 billion in new taxes.
According to a report from <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/07/democrats-senate-reconciliation-votearama-00050222">Politico</a>, more than 20 amendments to the bill were proposed by Senators on both sides of the aisle, but the Senate struck down nearly all of them, voting as a bloc, even on provisions they supported, to get the bill over the finish line.
Republicans forced votes on several last-minute amendments on Sunday. First, they successfully cut out a portion of the bill that placed a $35 cap on insulin prices in the private insurance market.
Then, House Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD) introduced an amendment to create exemptions for the 15% corporate minimum tax established by the bill.
According to Politico, the amendment exempted businesses owned by private equity, and paid for the lost revenue by extending the cap on State and Local Tax deductions for one year. It was supported by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), but <a href="https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1556333522285219841?s=20&amp;t=LpFdtGtj6usPhRF6yERWyg">caused a stir</a> because it would cause electoral problems for House Democrats in coastal districts who campaigned on ending the SALT cap. Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) replaced the SALT cap extension with an amendment to extend existing limitations on how certain businesses can write off their losses for another two years, Politico reported.

On Monday, the Supreme Court refused to review a challenge brought against a tax deduction limit which was implemented by the Trump administration and has continued through the Biden administration. 
The SALT (state and local tax) cap doesn’t allow people to deduct more than $10,000 of specific state and local taxes from their federal income taxes through 2025.
As the Tax Foundation <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/tax-basics/salt-deduction/">explained</a>, the “deduction permits taxpayers who itemize when filing federal taxes to deduct certain taxes paid to state and local governments,” noting that the current cap “[consists] of property taxes plus state income or sales taxes, but not both.”
The deduction provision was included as a way to increase revenue in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in order to make sure it would not add more than $1.5 trillion to the federal deficit over a 10-year period, a House reconciliation necessity, per <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/finance/3271661-supreme-court-wont-hear-challenge-to-salt-tax-deduction/">The Hill.</a>
New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Maryland previously challenged the 2017 policy, calling it an overreach into state’s independent rights. 
In a court filing from March, the states <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scotus-turns-away-salt-cap-challenge">said</a>, per Fox News, &#8220;Congress’s taxing authority (as set forth in Article I, Section 8 and the Sixteenth Amendment) is cabined by the structural requirements of federalism, which prevent the federal government from directly interfering with the States’ ability to generate revenue to sustain their operations.”
“The long history of federal income taxation demonstrates that Congress and the States equally understood that a deduction for all or nearly all state and local property and income taxes was constitutionally required to preserve state sovereign taxing authority,” the filing added.
Lower courts sided against the states, and decided the deduction was allowed, leading the states to bring the issue to the high court. 
Last month, the Treasury Department weighed in, asking the court to reject the appeal of the states. 
“Congress has acted well within that power both in establishing, and in placing limits on, the deduction for state and local taxes,” the department <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/finance/3271661-supreme-court-wont-hear-challenge-to-salt-tax-deduction/">said</a> in court documents. “As the courts below observed, no constitutional provision compels Congress to provide any SALT deduction, let alone a deduction of a particular amount.” 
The SALT tax debate isn’t going away anytime soon. 
As Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/scotus-turns-away-salt-cap-challenge">reported</a>, the House passed legislation last year that would bring the cap up to $80,000 until 2031, when it would be limited once again to $10,000. The Senate has not acted on the measure yet, but Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has a plan to limit the tax break according to income levels.
In November, Sanders spoke out against Democrats’ considerations to get rid of the $10,000 cap. 
In a statement, Sanders <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/579710-sanders-proposed-five-year-salt-cap-repeal-beyond-unacceptable/">stressed</a> that the potential move by House Democrats at the time would mean “the top 1% would pay lower taxes after passage of the Build Back Better plan than they did after the Trump tax cut in 2017. This is beyond unacceptable.”
In the past, Sanders noted that an adjustment to the SALT deduction limit should be centered on helping the middle class. 
“There are middle-class families in states where property taxes are very high that are paying a whole lot in state and local taxes. And I think we have to support them,” Sanders reportedly <a href="https://www.sanders.senate.gov/in-the-news/sanders-proposed-five-year-salt-cap-repeal-beyond-unacceptable/">said</a> during an interview in June.
&#8220;On the other hand, if you got some billionaires who own a massive mansion, should they be able to write off their state and local taxes? The answer is no, they should not,” he added.

Pelosi&#8217;s remarks came in response to a reporter telling her that a new poll found that only 10% of Americans knew a lot about what was in the bill and that the majority do not know about anything in it.

While Democrats often brand themselves as the champions of the poor and downtrodden, they have morphed into the party representing the views — and financial interests — of America’s wealthiest elites. Their role as caretakers of the rich is on display in many of their tax-and-spending proposals, which would disproportionately favor those they claim to oppose.
Repealing The SALT Tax Limit
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, signed by President Donald Trump, did not merely lower federal taxes but had a provision which squeezed <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/state-and-local-tax-deduction-benefit/">high-tax</a> state and local governments. Prior to the bill, people could deduct 100% of the amount they paid in state and local taxes (SALT); in effect, the federal government made it easier for people to live in blue states and urban areas with progressive tax rates. But the 2017 law capped the SALT deduction at $10,000, forcing wealthy people to feel the financial burden of liberal governance in blue states and cities.
Democratic congressmen who represent those areas want to eliminate the SALT limitation — a move that would massively favor the top 1% of income earners. The left-of-center Brookings Institution <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2020/09/04/the-salt-tax-deduction-is-a-handout-to-the-rich-it-should-be-eliminated-not-expanded/">calculated</a> that 57% of the benefits from repealing the SALT cap “would benefit the top one percent (a cut of $33,100); and 25 percent would benefit the top 0.1 percent (for an average tax cut of nearly $145,000).” The middle class would save “a little less than $27” a year.
Repealing the SALT limit would also worsen racial income disparities, according to the left-leaning Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. “[J]ust 5.6 percent of [b]lack families would see a tax cut compared to 9.7 percent of white families. Similarly, only 6.5 percent of Hispanic families would see a tax cut from SALT cap repeal, meaning they are 33 percent less likely than white families to benefit,” ITEP <a href="https://itep.org/salt-cap-repeal-would-worsen-racial-income-and-wealth-divides/">reported</a>.
Yet repealing the SALT limit remains a top priority of some Democrats — especially <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/northeast-dems-threaten-to-block-bidens-infrastructure-package-unless-tax-deductions-included/">in the Northeast —</a> who have threatened to derail the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package if it doesn’t contain a sop to America’s toniest taxpayers. “We’re going to keep fighting until this is part of the bill. It’s as critical as a road or a bridge or a tunnel, which is why we are going to keep fighting for it until the end,” <a href="https://www.standingforfreedom.com/2021/04/28/irs-data-shows-that-democrats-not-republicans-are-now-the-party-of-the-rich/">said</a> Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ). Gottheimer was one of eight congressmen who wrote in a <a href="https://sherrill.house.gov/sites/sherrill.house.gov/files/4-1-21%20Sherrill%2C%20Malinowski%2C%20and%20Gottheimer%20Letter%20to%20Secretary%20Yellen%20re%20SALT.pdf">letter</a> to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on April Fool’s Day that they “could not vote for a bill that has a meaningful tax impact on our constituents unless it restores SALT deduction relief to our middle-class families,” adding that it’s a “misconception that the SALT deduction doesn’t help middle class families.”
Republicans have skewered Democrats’ devotion to the issue. Raising or eliminating the SALT limit would “create tax havens for billionaires against the very tax hikes that they are proposing,” <a href="https://www.rollcall.com/2021/10/01/making-salt-relief-pay-for-itself-among-democrats-options/">quipped</a> Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee. “Penthouse occupants are cheering. The building janitor gets nothing.” Similarly, Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI) <a href="https://twitter.com/votemeijer/status/1437573352760152064">called</a> the “Tax the Rich” dress that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wore to the Met Gala “quite the swipe against [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer [and Speaker of the House Nancy] Pelosi’s plan to repeal the SALT deduction cap.”

As President Joe Biden met behind closed doors with Democrats on Capitol Hill Friday, congressmen <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-10-04/salt-cap-relief-faces-rollback-as-democrats-eye-less-spending">negotiated</a> various scenarios to help their most affluent patrons, such as raising the SALT limit without abolishing it or enacting a one- or two-year suspension of the cap. A one-year suspension would reduce tax revenues by $89 billion; a two-year suspension would lower revenues by $178 billion, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation.
And, as left-of-center think tanks have noted, virtually every dollar saved will benefit the rich.

As part of their efforts to reduce carbon emissions, congressional Democrats have proposed greatly expanding subsidies for those who buy electric cars, trucks, and e-bikes. Yet, even after taxpayers are forced to pay for a portion of the sticker price, the wealthy will overwhelmingly benefit.
The <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/14/tesla-toyota-and-honda-criticize-4500-tax-credit-for-union-made-evs.html">$15.6 billion</a> giveaway to the rich, which is part of the reconciliation bill, would give up to $12,500 to people who bought electric vehicles. “A married couple would have to earn at least $200,000 to owe that much in taxes,” <a href="https://www.aei.org/op-eds/democrats-love-tax-cuts-for-the-rich/">wrote</a> Tim Carney of The Washington Examiner. “So basically, this is another tax break for wealthy lawyers and doctors.”
The current proposal would compel taxpayers to give these funds to people making up to $400,000 a year — placing the recipients well within the <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/personal-finance/how-much-income-puts-you-top-1-5-10/">top 5%</a> of income earners — and to underwrite the cost of an electric car worth up to $55,000 and or a truck with a sticker price of up to $74,000.
Another provision of the bill would give $750 to people who buy electric bicycles, which is still well below the cost of low-end e-bikes. Taxpayers’ financial commitment to e-bikers doesn’t end when the new owners pedal their purchases back to their driveways; Democrats want to assure that taxpayers provide another $81 a month to pay for maintenance and upkeep.
All of this amounts to an enormous giveaway to rich, white men. “The top demographic of 2019 EV owners are middle-aged white men earning more than $100,000 annually with a college degree or higher and at least one other vehicle in their household,” <a href="https://www.fuelsinstitute.org/Research/Reports/EV-Consumer-Behavior/EV-Consumer-Behavior-Report.pdf">according</a> to the Electric Vehicle Council. But the electric vehicle subsidy would also benefit a core Democratic constituency: labor unions. The current Democratic proposal would cap the subsidy at $8,000 for manufacturers who make their cars with non-unionized workers; the extra $4,500 is reserved for union shops.
Democrats hope the funding will nudge Americans into purchasing electric vehicles and reduce greenhouse gases. But President Biden will need for a lot more people to purchase e-vehicles if he wants his carbon-cutting agenda to succeed. “A recent <a href="https://rmi.org/insight/scaling-us-climate-ambitions/">forecast </a>by RMI, an environmental advocacy organization, concluded that a 45 percent cut in emissions from transportation by 2030 — in line with Biden’s overall goal for the nation — would require 70 million electric cars on the road and for Americans to drive 20 percent less,” <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/transportation/2021/09/18/ebikes-reconciliation-carbon-emissions/">reported</a> The Washington Post.
Tax Write-Offs For Paying Union Fat Cats’ Salaries
If the Democrats’ favoritism to unions were not yet clear, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), would like to allow union members to deduct $250 a year in <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/09/14/house-democrats-tax-plan-511805">union dues</a> from their taxes. Only <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.nr0.htm">10.8%</a> of the workforce is unionized — down from <a href="https://www.historycentral.com/sixty/Economics/Laborunion.html">33%</a> in 1955 — and the vast majority of union workers are employed by government agencies. While this tax write-off goes to union members, the dues it offsets flow upward to well-paid union leaders. No fewer than 15 employees at the AFL-CIO alone earn enough to rank among the richest 10% of Americans (requiring a salary of more than $158,002 a year), <a href="https://www.unionfacts.com/employees/AFL-CIO">according</a> to the Center for Union Facts. The average labor union president earns <a href="https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Salaries/Union-President-Salary">$96,775</a> a year, according to ZipRecruiter.
Labor unions spent an estimated <a href="https://freebeacon.com/elections/report-big-labor-hides-millions-in-2020-election-spending/">$1.8 billion</a> to benefit Democrats during the <a href="https://nilrr.org/big-labor-reported-spending-1-8-billion-on-politics-in-the-2020-election-cycle/">2020 election cycle</a>.
Who’s The Party Of The Rich?
These policies are part of the reconciliation bill, which remains mired in negotiations. As a result, some of these proposals may be expanded, others may be reduced or eliminated. Each represents an aspect of the Democratic Party’s ongoing evolution into the party of the rich, the powerful, and the credentialed — a movement that has continued apace since <a href="https://www.vox.com/polyarchy/2016/6/3/11843780/democrats-wealthy-party">at least 2012</a>. “IRS <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/democrats-party-wealthy-irs-salt-tax-trump">data</a> shows that Democrats represent 65 percent of taxpayers with a household income of $500,000 or more while 74 percent of taxpayers in Republican districts have household incomes of less than $100,000,” <a href="https://www.standingforfreedom.com/2021/04/28/irs-data-shows-that-democrats-not-republicans-are-now-the-party-of-the-rich/">wrote</a> Nathan Skates of the <a href="https://www.standingforfreedom.com/">Stand for Freedom Center</a>.
But the fact that congressional Democrats included these giveaways to the wealthiest and most elite Americans — and paired them with provisions to raise taxes and fees on people making <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/7-ways-democrats-would-raise-taxes-on-people-making-less-than-400000">less than $400,000</a> — is revealing enough about the party’s true constituency.

The incident comes after leftists creepily chased Sinema into a bathroom where they berated her over the weekend and recorded her as she used the bathroom.

Sinema,&#8221; the far-left group ADAC posted on Twitter on Monday. &#8220;I asked her to follow through on her promises to immigrants in Arizona and support citizenship through reconciliation.&#8221;

Biden responded to the agitators harassing Sinema in the bathroom by saying, in part, that &#8220;it happens to everybody&#8221; and that &#8220;it’s part of the process.&#8221;
Sinema responded to the bathroom confrontation with a scathing statement, writing that those who took part disrupted her class at Arizona State University.
&#8220;After deceptively entering a locked, secure building, these individuals filmed and publicly posted videos of my students without their permission — including footage taken of both my students and I using a restroom,” Sinema said. “Yesterday’s behavior was not legitimate protest. It is unacceptable for activist organizations to instruct their members to jeopardize themselves by engaging in unlawful activities such as gaining entry to closed university buildings, disrupting learning environments, and filming students in a restroom.&#8221;
“In the 19 years I have been teaching at ASU, I have committed to creating a safe and intellectually challenging environment for my students. Yesterday, that environment was breached. My students were unfairly and unlawfully victimized. This is wholly inappropriate,” she continued. “It is the duty of elected leaders to avoid fostering an environment in which honestly-held policy disagreements serve as the basis for vitriol — raising the temperature in political rhetoric and creating a permission structure for unacceptable behavior.”

“Let’s be crystal clear. If the bipartisan infrastructure bill is passed on its own on Thursday, this will be in violation of an agreement that was reached within the Democratic Caucus in Congress,” Sen. Sanders tweeted. “More importantly, it will end all leverage that we have to pass a major reconciliation bill. That means there will be no serious effort to address the long-neglected crises facing the working families of our country, the children, the elderly, the sick and the poor.”
“It also means that Congress will continue to ignore the existential threat to our country and planet with regard to climate change,” the senator continued. “I strongly urge my House colleagues to vote against the bipartisan infrastructure bill until Congress passes a strong reconciliation bill.”

In August, Sen. Sanders voted in favor of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which passed 69 votes to 30 in the U.S. Senate. The senator’s latest comments followed <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/pelosi-says-biden-s-infrastructure-bill-cannot-wait-social-safety-n1280215">news</a> that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly told fellow Democrats during a private caucus meeting that a vote on the infrastructure bill cannot be held up by the reconciliation package.
“She conceded that the final reconciliation package would not be ready by Thursday — when the House is set to vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill — despite previous promises that the two crucial pieces of legislation would be passed together,” reported <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/574347-sanders-urges-house-democrats-to-vote-against-infrastructure-bill-before">The Hill</a>. “She specifically said the Senate’s demand that the price tag of the $3.5 trillion package ‘had to come down’ threw the timing in question.”
Last week, Sanders joined ten Democratic Senators who issued a <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/finance/budget/573466-11-senators-urge-house-to-stick-with-plan-to-pass-35t-package-before">statement</a> “urging party leadership to stay on course with its original ‘dual track’ plan to pass a $3.5 trillion social spending bill in both chambers before taking up a bipartisan infrastructure deal in the House.” In addition to Senate Budget Committee Chairman Sanders, Sens. Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Mazie Horono, and Elizabeth Warren were among those who issued the statement.
“Congress must not undercut the president’s proposals that will create new opportunities for America’s families and workers,” they said. “The House of Representatives should wait to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill until the budget reconciliation bill, which enacts the rest of the President’s Build Back Better agenda, is sent to the president’s desk.”
Meanwhile, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senator-toomey-democrats-dont-need-a-single-republican-vote-to-pass-their-3-5-trillion-bill">The Daily Wire</a> reported, “Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) told CNN’s Jake Tapper on ‘State of the Union’ on Sunday that Republicans will not be voting for Democrats’ $3.5 trillion social spending bill and that Democrats do not need Republicans to be able to pass the bill.”
“I will certainly be voting no if the Democrats insist on combining the debt ceiling increase or suspension with the continuing operations of the government,” Toomey said. “And there is no calamity that’s going to happen, Jake. If that were even a serious risk, don’t you think the equity markets from last week, rather than fully recovering after the scare that came out of Evergrande in China, rather than fully recovering, as they did, maybe they would have traded off? I think that’s because the millions of investors across America know that no such calamity is going to occur.”

Bernie Sanders Urges House Democrats To Vote Against Infrastructure Bill Unless Reconciliation Package Passed, Cites ‘Existential Threat’

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), the leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, reportedly started crying during an &#8220;intense meeting&#8221; with President Joe Biden while arguing for amnesty for illegal immigrants, according to Politico. Jayapal was arguing for including amnesty in the reconciliation bill, a component which had been ruled out by the Senate parliamentarian for inclusion in the bill.
Jayapal, a congresswoman from Washington, was reportedly distraught by the exclusion of amnesty from the package, according to an exclusive from <a href="https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook-pm">Politico</a>, during the Wednesday meeting. Jayapal&#8217;s progressive caucus includes other radical politicians, including Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
“She said, ‘I’m the first South Asian woman ever elected to the House … and one of only two dozen immigrants in Congress … as an immigrant woman of color, I just want to share my perspective,’” Chris Evans, a spokesperson for Jayapal said.
Evans continued, “She has a unique story as an immigrant — but also coming at 16, and to be sitting at the White House delivering what would be a transformational investment in social programs, it will be a moment she will remember forever.”
One source told Politico that Jayapal burst into tears because she was “feeling the pressure” of the meeting.
Evans claimed the meeting with Biden was not confrontational. “It’s hard to get overwhelmed in a non-confrontational meeting. I could see someone getting overwhelmed if they were demanded to do something, but that didn’t happen,” he said.
Politico did not report whether Jayapal&#8217;s efforts convinced Biden, but it was announced on Sunday night that the Senate parliamentarian ruled against the legitimacy of putting amnesty in the bill.
“Democrats did not have firm legislative text nor a total price tag for the bill. It was believed that this push to add immigration to the bill was too policy driven.”
In response, Rep. Ilhan Ohmar, a progressive Democrat from Minnesota, <a href="https://twitter.com/IlhanMN/status/1439753403475836929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1439753403475836929%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https://www.foxnews.com/politics/omar-schumer-white-house-ignore-senate-parliamentarian-path-to-citizenship">said</a> Democrats should ignore the parliamentarian’s recommendation and include the amnesty anyway.
Negotiations over the reconciliation bill have been a long process with lots of inter-party wrangling over what the final cost of the bill will be. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin (D) has indicated that he does not support the multi-trillion dollar version and wants a much more slimmed down version of the bill that costs less.
The price tag is still in flux. Politico notes that a compromise on the revenue portion of the bill has been reached, but no decision yet on how much it will cost in the end. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has not yet brought the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed in the Senate last month to the floor, as she has attempted to hinge its success to that of the reconciliation bill.
“I think we’re in a very good place,” Pelosi <a href="https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook-pm">said</a> on Monday. “I’ve always been very calm about this. … At the end of the day, we will be unified for the American people.”
