Former CNN anchor Don Lemon said that he &#8220;ain&#8217;t even worried&#8221; about the possibility that he could end up behind bars following his arrest in Los Angeles — and promised that he planned to be even more outspoken in the days to come.
Lemon, who was arrested in connection to a protest in Minneapolis that disrupted a Sunday morning church service, has maintained in the days since that he was only there in his capacity as an &#8220;independent journalist&#8221; to record what happened during the protest.

Lemon trailed off and then let out an exaggerated fake laugh before adding, in ominous tones, &#8220;Just wait. Just wait.&#8221;
&#8220;So I know that there are people who think like oh, you know, do this, and I&#8217;m going to be locked up or whatever. I ain&#8217;t worried about that. You heard the truth, and the truth shall make you free. I ain&#8217;t even worried about that. Like not. Don&#8217;t even think about it,&#8221; he said.
The chyron below read, &#8220;Republicans better wake up. A dictator doesn&#8217;t need Congress.&#8221;
&#8220;So whatever — you know, whatever happens — I am — I always think that something good is going to happen,&#8221; Lemon continued. &#8220;And something good usually always happens if you have that mindset.&#8221;
Lemon was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/don-lemon-helped-protestors-keep-church-plans-under-wraps-blocked-congregants-from-leaving-indictment">arrested</a> after a grand jury found probable cause to indict him. The indictment stated in part that Lemon had &#8220;entered the church with the “first wave of agitators,” and &#8220;oppressed, threatened, and intimidated the Church’s congregants and pastors by physically occupying most of the main aisle and rows of chairs near the front of the Church, engaging in menacing and threatening behavior, chanting and yelling loudly at the pastor and congregants, and/or physically obstructing them as they attempted to exit and/or move about within the Church.&#8221;
President Trump weighed in on Lemon&#8217;s arrest while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, saying that he had not had any advance knowledge that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-host-and-top-trump-official-spar-over-don-lemon-arrest">Lemon</a> was going to be arrested but making it clear that he was not a fan of the ousted CNN personality.
&#8220;He’s a sleazebag! Everyone’s known that. He’s a washed up,” Trump said. “Probably from his standpoint, the best thing that could happen to him. He had no viewers. He was a failed host. And now, he’s in the news. I didn’t know anything about it.&#8221;

A group of protesters clashed with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on Wednesday outside of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement family detention center, where a 5-year-old boy, who has made headlines, is being held with his suspected illegal immigrant father.
At least two protesters were arrested as troopers attempted to clear the crowd of around 150 people who were blocking a road outside of the South Texas Family Residential Center near Dilley, Texas. Law enforcement officers deployed tear gas and shoved the crowd back, a <a href="https://www.ksat.com/news/local/2026/01/28/protesters-detained-hit-by-tear-gas-outside-dilley-family-detention-facility/">video</a> from ABC&#8217;s San Antonio affiliate KSAT shows.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that it sent troopers to the facility &#8220;at the request of the City of Dilley.&#8221;
“During today’s response, after dispersal orders were given, approximately 150 demonstrators refused to leave and began to breach the established protest barrier and spit on officers,” the department said. “Despite continued orders to disperse, the group remained and DPS took less-lethal action, deploying pepper ball grenades and pepper ball projectiles to ensure officer safety and maintain order. DPS personnel arrested two individuals on various charges, including resisting arrest and interfering with public duties.”
The demonstrators showed up outside the ICE detention facility to protest federal authorities holding a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy after his father was arrested during the Trump administration&#8217;s immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota. A picture of the boy standing with federal agents went viral last week, with many on the Left pointing to the incident as an example of ICE cruelty.
The Department of Homeland Security said that the young child was &#8220;abandoned&#8221; by his father, Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, when Conejo Arias allegedly attempted to flee from federal agents.
&#8220;For the child’s safety, one of our ICE officers remained with the child while the other officers apprehended Conejo Arias,&#8221; Homeland Security added. &#8220;Parents are asked if they want to be removed with their children, or ICE will place the children with a safe person the parent designates. This is consistent with past administration’s immigration enforcement.&#8221;
A Minnesota pastor told CNN that the child&#8217;s mother feared going outside to get her child because of ICE&#8217;s presence. Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, however, said that federal agents &#8220;assured [the mother] she would NOT be taken into custody.&#8221;
&#8220;The alleged mother refused to accept custody of the child. The father told officers he wanted the child to remain with him,&#8221; McLaughlin added.
On Tuesday, a federal judge <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/federal-judge-blocks-ice-from-deporting-minnesota-man-5-year-old-son">blocked</a> the Trump administration from deporting the boy and his father.
Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) blasted ICE and those who support the agency after the story of the 5-year-old boy went viral. Craig claimed that ICE &#8220;used&#8221; the 5-year-old to &#8220;lure his father out.&#8221;
&#8220;This is the worst of the damn worst,&#8221; Craig added. &#8220;This is not humanity in Minnesota, folks. If you can look at this 5-year-old and actually with a straight face still support [ICE] and be silent in the face of what the Trump administration and Kristi Noem [are] doing, I just can&#8217;t even believe this is America. I will not vote for a damn penny to Kristi Noem or ICE in this Congress.&#8221;
Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn, who has opposed President Donald Trump on some issues, has defended ICE in recent weeks. When addressing the Camp East Montana ICE facility in El Paso earlier this month, Cornyn said that people “are treated humanely” at the facility.
The controversy over ICE holding the 5-year-old boy has further inflamed tensions in Minnesota over Trump&#8217;s immigration enforcement in the state. Chaos erupted on the streets over the weekend after Border Patrol agents shot and killed anti-ICE protester Alex Pretti. The shooting and the political fallout resulted in President Trump making changes to his strategy in Minnesota, sending his border czar, Tom Homan, to the state to take charge of the operation.
The move effectively sidelined Homeland Security Secretary Noem, and Border Patrol commander-at-large Gregory Bovino was reassigned after leading the Minnesota enforcement operation for the past month.
During a press conference on Thursday, Homan said the Trump administration was working on drafting a &#8220;drawdown plan&#8221; to reduce the number of immigration agents in Minnesota.

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt attempted to use an old tweet from the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk to defend protesters coming armed to demonstrations against federal immigration officers, whether they be with Border Patrol or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Hunt claimed that video from Minneapolis protests — particularly video showing the fatal confrontation between Border Patrol agents and Alex Pretti — was proof that President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration had become &#8220;tyrannical&#8221; and justified civilians taking up arms against the government.

Hunt did not mention the fact that federal immigration officials had only been sent by the Trump administration to enforce existing federal laws, nor did she address the intentional roadblocks to federal law enforcement — namely sanctuary policies — that have been put into place by Democratic leaders in states like Minnesota.
Officials within the Trump administration have repeatedly stated that it would be unnecessary to surge federal resources and personnel to states like Minnesota and Maine — where the next major surge has already begun — if local and state law enforcement would simply cooperate with ICE detainers and coordinate with federal immigration officials to make safe prisoner exchanges at jails or courthouses.

St. Paul Democratic Mayor Kaohly Her made excuses for the protesters who crashed a church service on Sunday, arguing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had effectively set the precedent by enforcing federal immigration law in &#8220;sacred&#8221; spaces like public schools.
Her, who was just elected mayor in November, spoke with CNN anchor Erin Burnett on Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;Erin Burnett Outfront,&#8221; and although she initially tried to claim that she did not support protesters disrupting Sunday worship services, she immediately pivoted to blame ICE for scaring the community to the point that they felt they didn&#8217;t have a choice.

Her noted that local police had arrived at the scene, but then said that she could not make additional comments because the investigation was still ongoing. She once again declared that the situation would not have been handled any differently at any other place of worship.
Burnett asked then if Her&#8217;s claim — that ICE had effectively started the tit-for-tat — meant that she thought it was acceptable for the protesters to do the same.
&#8220;I don’t ever believe that it is OK for us to cross the line in which there are spaces in which people have certain rights and freedoms,&#8221; Her said, but immediately pivoted to add, &#8220;But I will say that if this government wants us to obey rule of law that they also need to follow that as well and that they cannot expect residents who are feeling terrorized and sieged to be operating under any different circumstances or any different rules than they are operating in.&#8221;

The Department of Justice could take major legal action after an anti-ICE protest hijacked a service at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday.
United States Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon told The Daily Wire in an interview Monday morning that she’s working closely with Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate for “federal offenses,” including breaking the FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) Act, which Dhillon noted “criminalizes blocking, interfering with, disrupting a house of worship.&#8221; The protest was sparked over one of the pastors&#8217; employment with ICE, according to the Associated Press.
“That&#8217;s exactly what these people did. Clearly. So, the only question really is who they are and what other offenses there may be,” she said, later adding that “we don&#8217;t prejudge a situation, but we&#8217;d like to make the strongest case possible.” During the interview, the DOJ official noted that were two prosecutors flying to Minnesota as of Monday morning to dive into the case.
“I find the silence of the Attorney General of Minnesota, the District Attorney Mary Moriarty of Hennepin County, and the Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz, shocking. They&#8217;re the governor, District Attorney, and Attorney General of these people, too. And where&#8217;s the reassurance to them?” Dhillon asked.
The Daily Wire reached out to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office. Gov. Tim Walz’s office told <a href="https://x.com/MattFinnFNC/status/2013329688458932309?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>, “The Governor has repeatedly and unequivocally urged protesters to do so peacefully. While people have a right to speak out, he in no way supports interrupting a place of worship.”
Dhillon also empathized with churchgoers who may be concerned about protests when attending a service in the coming weeks.
“I feel like I have to give a First Amendment 101 primer to people, including journalists like Don Lemon, because you don&#8217;t have a First Amendment right to trespass and invade a house of worship. It&#8217;s literally illegal to do that. And it&#8217;s not protected by the First Amendment on top of that,” she said. Former CNN anchor Don Lemon live-streamed the protest inside the church, and Dhillon suggested in other interviews on Monday that it could potentially open the door for charges against the liberal commentator.
“And so you can have your protest a safe distance away from a private facility. You can have your protest in a park, you can have a march, you can get a permit for a large gathering, but you can&#8217;t just go wherever you want and tear things up and disrupt. And that&#8217;s what these people did. And so now, people are afraid to go to church. And that is an absolute disgrace in this country,” the assistant attorney general continued.
She also recommended that houses of worship have cameras outside of their buildings to &#8220;be prepared to record what&#8217;s going on and who&#8217;s coming.”
“I would just tell people that they should not be on edge. We believe in the Almighty and this DOJ has the right and the ability to step in and protect where the local authorities won’t,” Dhillon noted.
Anti-ICE protests escalated in the Minneapolis area after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Good, a woman who allegedly attempted to hit the officer with her vehicle, as the Department of Homeland Security said the agent suffered from internal bleeding after the incident.

Watching this, two TV scenes immediately came to mind. The first is from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCrngJCkI8I">Breaking Bad</a>, when Walter White tries to negotiate with the drug dealers who are about to kill his brother-in-law. He thinks he can reason with them. His brother-in-law tells him, “What are you talking about? They made up their mind ten minutes ago.”
The other scene is from <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHzw4QvE2Do">It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia</a>, when Frank says, “Yeah, they started coming up to me and I didn’t know what they wanted, so I started blasting.”
I certainly don’t encourage the latter — but those are two very different approaches to the same situation.
The guy in this video seems to think these people are being reasonable. This band of leftists — they’re not black-masked Antifa terrorists. They just look dopey and annoying. Awful, insolent white twenty-somethings.
They demand, “Prove that you’re not ICE.” And he responds, “Okay, all right, I’ll show you the back of my SUV — but I don’t have to do this.” Then he adds, “I appreciate you guys.&#8221; Really? He appreciate them going around to random middle-aged white guys and demanding that they prove they’re not law enforcement?
If they were law enforcement, they would have no right to do this. Actual law enforcement should be arresting these kids just for asking the question, because they’re clearly obstructing law enforcement and criminal investigations.

But this — this is what you get when ICE doesn’t enforce the law. This is what you get when state and local authorities refuse to enforce the law. All of a sudden, you have bands of vigilantes going around singling people out.
Why are they singling this guy out? Do they seriously think he’s law enforcement?
No. They’re singling him out based on his race, sex, and age — because they don’t like middle-aged white guys. That’s what’s happening here. And this dope is walking around saying, “All right, listen, I respect what you’re doing. I don’t have to do this, but I respect it. (Please don’t—please don’t gang up on me.)”
Luckily, the group here seems to be just as dopey as he is. They don’t appear to pose much of a threat — at least not in this moment. But we’ve seen these kinds of left-wing gangs commit real violence. And we’ve seen even bourgeois, middle-class white liberals justify that violence — something that shows up clearly in a lot of social-scientific surveys.

President Donald Trump said that the United States would come to the “rescue” if Iranian forces began shooting protesters, as demonstrations against the regime continued for a sixth consecutive day.  
Sparked by economic unrest, protests first broke out last weekend in Tehran with groups chanting “death to the dictator” and “freedom.” Seven people, including protesters and government forces, have been killed so far, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-says-us-intervene-iran-starts-killing-protesters-locked-loaded" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to reports. 
“If Iran shots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue,” Trump posted on Truth Social early Friday morning. “We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump&#8217;s warning comes as he has continued to take an aggressive approach to Iran, saying earlier this week that he would support more Israeli military strikes on the country if Tehran continues to develop ballistic missiles or pursue nuclear capabilities.
In response to Trump’s post, the secretary of Iran&#8217;s Supreme National Security Council said any intervention by America would exacerbate instability in the area while accusing the United States and Israel of encouraging the disorder. 
&#8220;With the statements by Israeli officials and Donald Trump, what has been going on behind the scenes is now clear. We distinguish between the stance of the protesting shopkeepers and the actions of disruptive actors, and Trump should know that U.S. interference in this internal matter would mean destabilizing the entire region and destroying America’s interests,” he posted on X. “The American people should know — Trump started this adventurism. They should be mindful of their soldiers’ safety.”

Much of the violence has occurred in Western Iran, where a local official promised that protesters would be treated &#8220;decisively and without leniency,&#8221; Reuters <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/trump-threatens-iran-over-protest-deaths-unrest-flares-2026-01-02/">reported</a>. Dozens of protesters, including women and children, have been arrested. 
On Thursday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the protests were the result of the government&#8217;s failure to address skyrocketing inflation and widespread economic anxiety. 
&#8220;We are to blame&#8230; Do not look for America or anyone else to blame. We must serve properly so that people are satisfied with us&#8230;. It is us who have to find a solution to these problems,&#8221; he said, Reuters reported. 
Iran’s currency has reportedly dropped to 1.42 million to the dollar, a loss of more than 56% over six months, fueling soaring inflation and driving food prices up 72% from last year.

President Donald Trump&#8217;s border czar, Tom Homan, blasted leftists who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/violent-leftists-attack-federal-agents-during-immigration-raids-at-california-pot-farms?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=Violent+Leftists+Attack+Federal+Agents+During+Immigration+Raids+At+California+Pot+Farms">attacked</a> federal immigration agents during a raid at a Southern California cannabis farm on Thursday, saying there are &#8220;protesters becoming criminals&#8221; and they are being &#8220;emboldened&#8221; by Democrats.
Homan told Fox News on Friday morning that protesters have a constitutional right to make their voices heard, but added that they cannot cross the line of impeding federal immigration enforcement operations.
&#8220;That&#8217;s a felony,&#8221; Homan said. &#8220;They certainly can&#8217;t put hands on an agent. That&#8217;s a felony. So what happened in California is another example of protesters becoming criminals, and they&#8217;ve been emboldened by &#8230; members of Congress who compared ICE to Nazis and racists and terrorists.&#8221;
&#8220;I mean, the rhetoric is so high. And I said two months ago, it&#8217;s going to end up with a loss of life, and we had one the other day in Texas,&#8221; he added, reffering to the gunman who was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-gunman-in-tactical-gear-killed-after-opening-fire-on-border-patrol-agents">shot dead</a> by authorities after opening fire on a Border Patrol facility, wounding two police officers and a Border Patrol employee.
During Thursday&#8217;s immigration raid at a cannabis farm in Camarillo, California, leftists threw rocks at federal agents&#8217; vehicles that were leaving the farm with detainees. One man was also caught on camera appearing to fire a handgun at federal agents during the operation.
Immigration authorities detained several suspected illegal immigrants and also found 10 children, including eight who were not accompanied by an adult, at the marijuana farm, according to Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott. The farm is &#8220;now under investigation for child labor violations,&#8221; Scott <a href="https://x.com/CBPCommissioner/status/1943511972441391376">said</a>.
&#8220;The work men and women of ICE are doing is incredible,&#8221; Homan added. &#8220;We&#8217;re looking for over 300,000 missing children. We&#8217;ve already found 10,000. Have you heard that anywhere? No, the media is simply not covering it. This should be a nonpartisan issue. Arresting public safety threats and national security threats, everyone should be on the same page on that. Rescuing children should be a nonpartisan issue.”
In August 2024, a Department of Homeland Security Inspector General <a href="https://www.oig.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/assets/2024-08/OIG-24-46-Aug24.pdf">report</a> found that 291,000 unaccompanied children who unlawfully crossed the border in recent years did not receive court notices, meaning those children had not yet appeared before an immigration judge. The report added that &#8220;ICE cannot always monitor the location and status of [unaccompanied minors] once they were released from DHS and HHS custody.&#8221;
Homan then ripped Democrats for criticizing ICE operations.
&#8220;They hate President Trump more than they love their community,&#8221; Homan said. &#8220;They hate President Trump more than they want safe communities.&#8221;
Democrats have been blasted by the Trump White House for their rhetoric on ICE agents, with some Democrats comparing them to the Gestapo, the secret police of Nazi Germany.

The White House ripped leftists for claiming that the Trump administration was threatening the food supply by going after suspected illegal immigrants working at cannabis farms.

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom blasted President Donald Trump following the Thursday raids.
“Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields,” Newsom wrote. “Trump calls me ‘Newscum’ — but he’s the real scum.”
According to Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott, agents at one of the Ventura County cannabis farm raids found 10 children at the marijuana facility, eight of whom were not accompanied by an adult. The farm is &#8220;now under investigation for child labor violations,&#8221; Scott said.
Multiple protesters who were &#8220;impeding&#8221; federal agents were arrested, according to Bill Essayli, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California. A news helicopter <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WKRvYmtWOE&amp;t=159s">video</a> showed the moments when leftists slung rocks at federal vehicles, smashing the windows, as the agents attempted to leave the farm with detainees. Another video captured the moment a man appeared to open fire on federal agents. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the suspected gunman.
