Fact-checking website <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/snopes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Snopes</a> has updated its assessment of the contents of a stolen diary that belonged to President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>’s daughter, Ashley Biden, to say they have been verified.
An article published in early April explored the claim that Ashley Biden&#8217;s diary &#8220;describes actions taken toward her by her father when she was a child as &#8216;probably not appropriate.'&#8221;
Whereas the article <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240405205118/https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ashley-biden-diary-claims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initially said</a> the claim had been &#8220;Unproven,&#8221; a <a href="https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ashley-biden-diary-claims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revised version</a> published at the end of the month changed the rating to &#8220;True.&#8221;
A note affixed to the top of the article cites an April 8 letter to a New York judge requesting jail time for one of the two people <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woman-gets-sentenced-to-prison-for-selling-ashley-bidens-diary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted of stealing</a> Ashley Biden&#8217;s diary in the run-up to the 2020 election.
&#8220;I will forever have to deal with the fact that my personal journal can be viewed online,&#8221; Ashley Biden wrote in the letter, which The New York Times <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/documenttools/654c5f7182bca1ee/6fe57478-full.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published online</a>.
Snopes said previous versions of the fact-check noted &#8220;strong evidence&#8221; that the diary existed but argued no source had authenticated the contents of the pages that were published online.
<a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/217072/cotton-probes-for-doj-employees-spilling-beans-on-investigation-into-missing-ashley-biden-diary/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alleged pages</a> from the first daughter&#8217;s diary, including one talking about being &#8220;hyper-sexualized&#8221; at a young age and &#8220;showers w/ my dad (probably not appropriate),&#8221; were <a href="https://nationalfile.com/official-national-file-statement-regarding-fbi-interest-in-ashley-bidens-probably-not-appropriate-showers-diary/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> by a website called National File.
The earlier iteration of the Snopes fact-check claimed &#8220;the authenticity of photographs purported to be from a diary is a separate question from the factual existence of a diary.&#8221;

With the latest assessment, the update note concluded, &#8220;Ashley Biden&#8217;s letter to the court, in Snopes&#8217; view, provides that authentication.&#8221;
In her letter to the court, Ashley Biden said her journal was part of her efforts to heal after being the victim of a crime in her early 20s.
Ashley Biden claimed that she was targeted because her father had been running for president, and the publicity the diary had drawn led her to be &#8220;constantly re-traumatized by it.&#8221;
She also said: &#8220;Repeatedly, I hear others grossly misinterpret my once-private writings and lob false accusations that defame my character and those of the people I love.&#8221;

A federal judge in New York sentenced a Florida woman who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/two-plead-guilty-in-theft-of-biden-daughters-diary-which-contained-disturbing-entries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pleaded guilty</a> to a scheme of selling the stolen diary of President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley to a month in prison on Tuesday.
Aimee Harris, a 41-year-old mother of two children, displayed &#8220;despicable and consequently very serious&#8221; conduct, said Judge Laura Taylor Swain, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/09/us/politics/project-veritas-ashley-biden-diary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to The New York Times</a>.
Swain sentenced Harris to one month behind bars — a term she is expected to begin in July — as well as three years of probation and three months home confinement. Harris was also reportedly ordered to give back the $20,000 she earned from selling the diary.
The Department of Justice <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/florida-residents-plead-guilty-conspiracy-commit-interstate-transportation-stolen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Harris teamed up with a man named Robert Kurlander to sell the property to an organization, which has been identified as Project Veritas, for $40,000 after finding a journal and other items belonging to Ashley Biden in a private residence in Florida in the weeks before the 2020 election.
The duo previously tried to sell the materials to former President Donald Trump&#8217;s campaign, but were rebuffed and encouraged to give them to the FBI, per court papers <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/2-florida-residents-plead-guilty-theft-ashley-bidens-diary-rcna44840" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported by NBC News</a>.
Harris and Kurlander <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/two-plead-guilty-in-theft-of-biden-daughters-diary-which-contained-disturbing-entries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pleaded guilty</a> to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property back in December of 2022. Both <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/25/us/politics/ashley-biden-diary-project-veritas-guilty.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered apologies</a> for their actions at the time.

But court filings show numerous delays followed, with Harris <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.585345/gov.uscourts.nysd.585345.99.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">citing</a> issues such as health problems and having no child care, leading prosecutors to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doj-requests-prison-time-for-woman-who-stole-ashley-bidens-diary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seek a harsher sentence</a>. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said Harris &#8220;abused the administration of justice throughout the pendency of this court proceeding.&#8221;
Bloomberg News <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-04-09/ashley-biden-diary-thief-gets-month-in-jail-plus-home-detention?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=bd&amp;cmpId=google" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Project Veritas did not publish the contents from Ashley Biden&#8217;s diary, but the group is facing a <a href="https://apnews.com/project-veritas-okeefe-first-amendment-biden-0000018ca37bdc59adaeeb7b034b0000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">federal investigation</a> into the matter and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aclu-lawyers-pen-letter-in-defense-of-first-amendment-over-project-veritas-ashley-biden-diary-case" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI raids</a>. A Project Veritas spokesperson <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/25/guilty-trafficking-ashley-biden-diary-00053770" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has said</a> the group&#8217;s &#8220;news gathering was ethical and legal.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/217072/cotton-probes-for-doj-employees-spilling-beans-on-investigation-into-missing-ashley-biden-diary/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alleged pages</a> from the first daughter&#8217;s diary got published by National File, which <a href="https://nationalfile.com/official-national-file-statement-regarding-fbi-interest-in-ashley-bidens-probably-not-appropriate-showers-diary/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> they came from a Project Veritas whistleblower.
This has been a much scrutinized case because the diary contains salacious yet unverified claims about President Biden. Some of the response to the sentencing, <a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1777828117240766536" target="_blank" rel="noopener">particularly from</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/greg_price11/status/1777894796612264328" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Right</a>, has <a href="https://twitter.com/DLoesch/status/1777896636271775767" target="_blank" rel="noopener">been condemnatory</a>.
Kurlander, who is 60, has not yet been sentenced.
As noted <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/09/us/politics/project-veritas-ashley-biden-diary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">by The New York Times</a>, Kurlander has cooperated with the federal investigation and prosecutors requested a six-month delay on Friday.
The news outlet also reported that Ashley Biden provided a statement to the court that described what happened to her as &#8220;one of the most heinous forms of bullying.&#8221;

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced a lawsuit against <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/planned-parenthood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Planned Parenthood</a> on Thursday, accusing the organization of trafficking young girls for out-of-state abortions. 
The announcement of the suit against Planned Parenthood Great Plains comes after Project Veritas released a <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/planned-parenthood-part-one" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> of Planned Parenthood workers appearing to say that they would help a young girl get an abortion in Kansas without her parent’s knowledge. 
“This is the beginning of the end for Planned Parenthood in the State of Missouri. What they conceal and conspire to do in the dark of night has now been uncovered. I am filing suit to ensure it never happens again,” Bailey said in a statement. “As a father who held my daughter in my arms for the single hour of her life before she died, I know firsthand how important it is to protect life. Our children are the future. It is time to eradicate Planned Parenthood once and for all to end this pattern of abhorrent, unethical, and illegal behavior.”
The suit references a November 2023 undercover video from Project Veritas where a man posing as the uncle of a 13-year-old girl asks several Planned Parenthood employees how to get an abortion for his niece. The Planned Parenthood workers appeared willing to help, saying that Planned Parenthood in Kansas could pick up a girl and take her for an abortion. 
The workers told the Project Veritas investigator that he would need a “bypass” if he was trying get the girl to have an abortion without the parents&#8217; knowledge. One said that a bypass meant “just not letting the parents know.” 
The Planned Parenthood employees also said they could create doctor&#8217;s notes to get the girl out of class even if the school didn’t agree and they could cut off their Planned Parenthood letterhead so it doesn’t “say where she was.” 
“The surreptitiously recorded video revealed that Planned Parenthood removes minors from school using altered doctors’ notes, transports them into Kansas for abortions, and then quickly returns them — all to avoid parents finding out,” the lawsuit says. “Violating the &#8216;deeply rooted&#8217; right of parents and the laws of Missouri, Planned Parenthood is inducing minors into making life-changing — and life-ending — decisions without parental consent.”

Planned Parenthood <a href="https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/politics/missouri-planned-parenthood-project-veritas-children-abortions/63-5ff28d22-1653-41c5-941a-8ffb2f528eb1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> to the suit by attacking Project Veritas and saying that it was innocent of any wrongdoing.
“This is a press release dressed up as legal action from an unelected attorney general. It is based on ‘evidence’ from fraudulent, extreme anti-abortion actors, who claim to be ‘journalists,’” Planned Parenthood of Greater Plains Emily Wales said. “We will continue following state and federal laws and proudly providing Missourians with the compassionate sexual and reproductive care that remains available to them in a state with a total abortion ban.”
Wales, claiming the video is &#8220;heavily doctored and edited,&#8221; <a href="https://apnews.com/article/missouri-abortion-lawsuit-minors-to-kansas-67ef30820213fc6cff8857ba68b8fe00">denied</a> that Planned Parenthood provides transportation for patients, the Associated Press reported. She also said that Kansas requires minors to either obtain parental consent or an order from a judge to get an abortion.
In Missouri, all abortion is effectively prohibited, though nearby states like Kansas and Illinois have legal abortion. Pills for medication abortions <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/04/13/us/abortion-pill-order-online-mifepristone.html#:~:text=There%20is%20less%20ambiguity%20for,But%20enforcement%20remains%20rare." target="_blank" rel="noopener">are</a> also being shipped into the state from outside activist groups.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/project-veritas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Project Veritas</a> has named Hannah Giles as its new CEO following the departure of its founder <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-okeefe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James O’Keefe</a>.
In a Thursday <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/introducing-project-veritas-new-ceo-hannah-giles/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a>, titled “The Mission Continues,” the nonprofit <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">known</a> for its undercover investigations announced O’Keefe’s replacement, hailing Giles’ resume as an investigative journalist and businesswoman.
“I&#8217;m honored to lead this amazing team at Project Veritas! We are more committed than ever to producing stories that expose the stubborn false narratives that plague our society,” Giles said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/HannahMGiles/status/1666887162539720705" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a>.
Giles is known for her 2009 bombshell undercover investigation into the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), which she performed with her predecessor O’Keefe. Giles dressed up as a prostitute and went with O’Keefe to several ACORN offices, taking videos of ACORN employees assisting the journalists with tax evasion and other paperwork to run a fake child prostitution business. The footage appeared on television and resulted in the U.S. Government defunding ACORN and the organization disbanding.
On the heels of the story, O’Keefe founded Project Veritas in 2010, placing its headquarters in Mamaroneck, New York. The nonprofit’s founder described Giles as a “national treasure” in his bestselling book Breakthrough.
After the ACORN investigation, Giles founded the American Phoenix Foundation, training hundreds of college journalists across the country. She also owned C3 Strategies, a “community transformation consulting firm that grew to over 450 employees” under her stewardship. Giles stepped away to run a sustainable farm that was featured in several magazines.
“With your support and my core vision on what needs to be done, Project Veritas will shine light into the darkest corners and will continue to resurrect great journalism,” Giles proclaimed in the announcement video.

Project Veritas’ announcement comes months after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/james-okeefe-resigns-from-project-veritas-reports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">messy breakup</a> with their founder O’Keefe. O’Keefe was accused by the nonprofit’s board in February of acting unprofessionally by “bullying staff.” In May, the non-profit <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/project-veritas-james-okeefe-lawsuit-1234745100/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued</a> its founder, alleging he started a competing company — O’Keefe Media Group — against his employment contract.
After O’Keefe’s ouster, Project Veritas released a comprehensive investigation into several gender clinics across the country, exposing how these clinics were <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/wpath-connected-transgender-health-doctors-prescribe-puberty-blockers-to/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prescribing</a> sex change medications to children as young as eight years old, <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/pro-transgender-medical-officials-admit-minors-being-transitioned-without/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transitioning</a> minors without restrictions, and “<a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/cash-cow-pro-transgender-medical-professionals-cashing-in-on-lifelong/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cashing in on life-long patients</a>.”

Lawyers for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/aclu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American Civil Liberties Union</a> (ACLU) wrote a letter raising concerns about the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI</a>’s raid of the homes of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/project-veritas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Project Veritas</a> employees in connection to a diary that was reportedly stolen from President Joe Biden’s daughter. 
The letter, penned by ACLU attorneys Brian Hauss and Brett Kaufman, was written on behalf of the ACLU, the Freedom of the Press Foundation, and the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. It urges a judge presiding over a federal case on the FBI raids to consider the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/first-amendment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">First Amendment</a> rights of reporters in his ruling. 
The organizations “write in support of neither party to urge the Court to affirm that the First Amendment protects a reporter’s right to receive and possess expressive materials on matters of public concern, even if those materials were unlawfully obtained by a third party,” the <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.569823/gov.uscourts.nysd.569823.140.1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter begins</a>. 
The authors argue that journalists should have the right to receive, possess, and publish materials that were stolen by another party.
“But, amici respectfully submit, the Court should affirm that the First Amendment necessarily protects a reporter’s right to receive and possess, as well as publish, documents, like the diary, that touch on matters of public concern and that were previously stolen by a third party,” the letter says. 
“Opening the door for criminalization of journalists’ receipt or possession of expressive materials would result in censorious prosecutions under existing law and inspire legislators to conjure up disastrous new ways to thwart journalists seeking to expose malfeasance. Amici urge this Court to affirm that the First Amendment protects a reporter’s right to receive and possess documents on matters of public concern that were unlawfully obtained or disclosed by a third party,” the letter concludes.
The letter references a case before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Analisa Torres <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/61377333/in-re-search-warrant-dated-november-5-2021/?filed_after=&amp;filed_before=&amp;entry_gte=&amp;entry_lte=&amp;order_by=desc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">involving</a> the FBI raid of the homes of Project Veritas employees, including then-head <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-okeefe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James O’Keefe</a>, in November 2021. 
Project Veritas had reportedly obtained a copy of a diary belonging to Ashley Biden but had decided not to publish it, instead handing it over to authorities. Other outlets later covered aspects of the diary, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10929171/Tucker-Carlson-blasts-Joe-Biden-setting-FBI-woman-sold-Ashley-Bidens-diary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including</a> the Daily Mail.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation on Friday into Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center after an undercover <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/project-veritas-releases-disturbing-undercover-footage-from-gender-clinics-advising-10-year-old">video</a> released last month allegedly showed staff at the facility saying that they had patients transitioning as young as 8 years old.
Paxton issued a Request to Examine (“RTE”) to Dell Children’s Medical Center, demanding that they turn over information and answer questions about the alleged activities at the hospital.
&#8220;It is now alarmingly common for fringe activists to use their positions in medicine and health care to force experimental, life-altering procedures onto children,&#8221; Paxton said in a statement. &#8220;Across the country, there are doctors and health care professionals who appear willing to sacrifice the long-term health of American children, all in service to the increasingly dangerous fad of ‘transgender’ extremism.&#8221;
&#8220;It is deeply disturbing, and there is no place for it in Texas,&#8221; Paxton added. &#8220;Along these lines, there have been a number of recent reports about potentially illegal activity at Dell Children’s Medical Center, and this investigation aims to uncover the truth.”
Paxton&#8217;s investigation comes after investigative group Project Veritas published an undercover video on April 19 that appears to show medical officials at the hospital admitting to treating children as young as 8 for gender confusion they claim is transgenderism, recommending life-altering <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/puberty-blockers-cause-infertility-and-are-given-out-like-candy-according-to-gender-clinic-director" target="_blank" rel="noopener">puberty blockers</a> for a 10-year-old, and cross-sex hormones for minors as young as 14.
“We do have patients who are starting [transition] as young as 8, 9 [years old],” says Nora Scott, a licensed social worker at Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center, according to Project Veritas.
Dell Children’s Medical Center responded to Paxton&#8217;s investigation by claiming in-part:

Sen. Investigative journalist group <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/project-veritas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Project Veritas</a> on Wednesday released Part 1 of its series on the practices of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-vanderbilt-pediatric-gender-clinic-pausing-transgender-surgeries-on-minors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gender clinics</a> in the U.S., obtained via undercover video.
Medical professionals appear to admit to treating children as young as eight years old for gender confusion they claim is transgenderism, recommending life-altering <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/puberty-blockers-cause-infertility-and-are-given-out-like-candy-according-to-gender-clinic-director" target="_blank" rel="noopener">puberty blockers</a> for a 10-year-old, and cross-sex hormones for minors as young as 14.
“We do have patients who are starting [transition] as young as eight, nine [years old],&#8221; says Nora Scott, a licensed social worker at Austin-based Dell Children’s Medical Center, Project Veritas reports.
In the same video, the undercover journalists asking about the gender transition of a hypothetical 10-year-old are eventually directed to Dr. John Steever at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in New York City.
Steever says he follows the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines and tells the journalists, &#8220;The way to go at this age — age 10 — would be something like a puberty blocker,&#8221; adding that the drug &#8220;really stops puberty pretty quickly so that no further development of the secondary sexual characteristics happen. So, things like, there’s no real chest development. There’s no menstruation. Things like that.”
“When you then get to age 14 is when I’ll consider some, you know, cross-gender hormones,&#8221; Steever continues. &#8220;Fourteen is a reasonable age. Most kids are mature enough to make a relatively informed decision.”
“Cross-gender hormones, testosterone in this case, you know, do have some permanent effects. So, I need the patient to be a little &#8212; to be mature enough to make a relatively informed decision,&#8221; the medical professional says. &#8220;I get it, that there are some 14-year-olds that are not, you know, mature &#8212; but generally speaking, they are usually pretty good.”
The video is framed to focus on the question, &#8220;How young is too young,&#8221; when it comes to this so-called treatment?

The group also focuses on a woman named Prisha Mosley, who says she was pressured into transitioning by medical professionals who suggested she would end up dead if she didn&#8217;t take the action they recommended.
“They [doctors] said it was transition or suicide,&#8221; Mosley told Project Veritas. &#8220;Like, I was given no choice. I was told, ‘You will kill yourself if you don’t go through with these treatments.’”
Mosley is, of course, not alone in feeling transition regret. A teenager named Layla Jane, for example, is suing a health care company and the doctors who put her on controversial puberty-blocking drugs at age 12 and removed her healthy breasts in a double-mastectomy surgery when she was just 13 years old, accusing them of “intentional fraud and concealment.”
Layla <a href="https://libertycenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Draft-90-notice-to-sue-letter-002_Redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> in a letter of intent to sue that she was rushed into the life-altering medical services while she and her family were not properly informed of risks and other vital information, such as the rate of desistance for childhood gender dysphoria.
Chloe Cole, another detransitioned 18-year-old woman, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/detransitioner-chloe-cole-announces-official-lawsuit-against-kaiser-permanente-for-medical-negligence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> in February the first official lawsuit in the U.S. against the same health care group, which, too, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/detransitioner-chloe-cole-announces-intent-to-sue-kaiser-permanente-for-experimental-hormones-and-surgery">facilitated her medical gender transition</a> as a minor.
Detransitioner Helena Kerschner has said that when she was 15-years-old, “lonely,” and dissatisfied with her body, she got “sucked into gender ideology online.”
“My school encouraged me and I was easily prescribed a high dose of testosterone at 18, and it was very damaging,” she said online last year, using the hashtag “DetransAwareness Day,” adding, “This is not rare.”

Former Project Veritas CEO James O&#8217;Keefe sat down with Ben Shapiro on this week&#8217;s episode of &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-137-james-o-keefe">The Sunday Special</a>,&#8221; discussing how he plans on outsourcing undercover operatives equipped with hidden cameras in order to decentralize journalism.
&#8220;What I&#8217;m trying to do is get information into the hands of the citizens so that they make the best decisions to elect the right representatives,” O&#8217;Keefe said. &#8220;I actually believe that if people had any idea what was actually going on — in the three letter agencies and the schools — then they would be rightfully outraged.&#8221;
O&#8217;Keefe announced his resignation from Project Veritas last month after a conflict with the board of directors from the investigative journalism group he founded over ten years ago. Weeks after the company ousted the guerrilla journalist, he launched O&#8217;Keefe Media Group, a new business venture promising to be surrounded by &#8220;the most elite journalists in the world.&#8221;
His ouster from the company came after the group broke a story in which Pfizer&#8217;s Director of Research and Development admitted the pharmaceutical company was apparently conducting “directed evolution” research on SARS-CoV-2.
Project Veritas&#8217; board of directors said they wanted to fix things with O&#8217;Keefe, but he would not have contact with them after an incident unfolded in February. The board of directors alleged that O&#8217;Keefe misspent large sums of donor money and that he broke the organization&#8217;s bylaws with his actions.
&#8220;I never really figured out what exactly happened, but it&#8217;s important for me to continue my mission,&#8221; he said.
That mission with the new media group, O&#8217;Keefe said, involves &#8220;getting little cameras into the hands of 1000s of people and helping everyone be a journalist.&#8221;
&#8220;The mission is to teach people about journalism ethics … technology … and recording laws in various states — I intend to open-source all of that on the website,&#8221; he said, which has not yet become available to the public.

Under O&#8217;Keefe&#8217;s leadership, Project Veritas broke several major stories through sting operations and whistleblowers — a style of journalism that critics have called deceptive.
O&#8217;Keefe, on the other hand, decried much of the criticism, which supporters of the abrasive form of journalism say is only viewed as controversial when it doesn&#8217;t support left-wing purposes.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not about the methods,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s about whose ox you&#8217;re perceived to be goring — it&#8217;s all about politics, and it&#8217;s all about power.&#8221;
&#8220;I want to teach people how to do it themselves so that I don&#8217;t have to curate it,&#8221; he said at the time of the O’Keefe Media Group announcement. &#8220;And if that vision comes to life, I think that could change the world.&#8221;

O&#8217;Keefe launched O&#8217;Keefe Media Group on Wednesday, promising to be surrounded by &#8220;the most elite journalists in the world.&#8221;
Project Veritas&#8217; board of directors <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/project-veritas-releases-statement-on-why-james-okeefe-was-removed-from-company" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that they wanted to fix things with O&#8217;Keefe, but that he would not have contact with them after an incident unfolded in February. The board of directors alleged that O&#8217;Keefe misspent large sums of donor&#8217;s money and that he broke the organization&#8217;s bylaws with actions that he took.
&#8220;The irony of the ACORN story is that it took a 25-year-old with a hidden camera a few days to do what billion-dollar networks and journalists could not do in a decade,&#8221; O&#8217;Keefe said in a launch video for his new organization. &#8220;I spent 14 years creating the most effective non-profit newsroom this country has ever seen.&#8221;
&#8220;And in paving the way to establish citizen journalism, I have been defamed, arrested, raided, and ultimately removed from the organization I spent so much time developing credibility of,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I always knew they would try to ruin the reputations of those who expose them, the pharma giants, the three-letter government agencies, and those who I thought I could trust.&#8221;
O&#8217;Keefe said that in response to what happened, he was &#8220;going to build an army of investigators and exposers,&#8221; and that a &#8220;sleeping giant&#8221; had been &#8220;awakened.&#8221;

James O'Keefe Launches New Media Group After Project Veritas Ouster

In a shocking development, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/james-okeefe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James O’Keefe</a> announced last week that he was out at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/project-veritas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Project Veritas</a>, the investigative journalism group he founded over 10 years ago, after a conflict with the group’s board of directors. 
Under O’Keefe’s leadership, the group has taken on the biggest names in politics, journalism, tech, and healthcare, with a unique style of undercover videos and work with whistleblowers, all while earning the ire of the legacy media.
Project Veritas was officially launched by O’Keefe in 2011 as a non-profit organization with the goal of exposing corruption in public and private institutions. Since that time it has broken many major stories and shifted the narrative, from <a href="https://patch.com/new-hampshire/concord-nh/new-hampshire-attorney-general-we-will-do-better-voter-fraud" target="_blank" rel="noopener">influencing</a> election <a href="https://archive.ph/BJM18" target="_blank" rel="noopener">integrity</a> in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-hampshire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New Hampshire</a> to embarrassing CNN over its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-director-network-trying-to-help-blm-shootings-lose-a-little-steam-if-suspect-is-not-white" target="_blank" rel="noopener">coverage</a> of race. 
While some critics have labeled the style of Project Veritas’ work deceptive, much of the content revealed through the sting operations would not be known by following the traditional question-and-answer mode of journalism.
Here are five of the biggest stories put out by Project Veritas during O’Keefe’s tenure.
<h2>ACORN</h2>
The first major break for O’Keefe came with undercover videos filmed of activist group ACORN during the Obama administration. While the <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/investigation/acorn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ACORN story</a> was released before Project Veritas was officially created, it shot O’Keefe to prominence and offered a preview of the kind of journalism O’Keefe and his team would follow.
In 2009, O’Keefe and Hannah Giles <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/story/acorn-officials-videotaped-telling-pimp-prostitute-how-to-lie-to-irs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went</a> into ACORN [Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now] offices and posed as a pimp and a prostitute. According to the videos put out by O’Keefe, ACORN staffers appeared to offer O’Keefe advice on how to avoid scrutiny of the IRS while running a brothel and discuss sex trafficking. 
The story exploded with a spokesman for the group calling the portrayal “false and defamatory.” Even President Obama <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/20/AR2009092002313.html">weighed</a> in, calling the actions in the video “inappropriate” and worthy of investigation. 
While an outside probe later <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2009/12/acorn_workers_cleared_of_illeg.html/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cleared</a> ACORN of illegal activity, the videos did lead to concrete action with Congress cutting funding for the group, and the IRS and the Census Bureau <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/12/us/politics/12acorn.html?_r=2&amp;scp=14&amp;sq=acorn&amp;st=cse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropping</a> their relationship with the activist organization. 
In the end, the group <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/23/us/23acorn.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed down</a> in 2010, just months after O’Keefe’s investigation.
<h2>Hillary Clinton Campaign Story</h2>
During the vicious 2016 presidential campaign, Project Veritas put out several major videos, taken from groups associated with the Clinton campaign, that appeared to show Democrat operatives discussing their strategies to provoke violence at Trump rallies and other ethically dubious campaign tactics. 
For example, Democrat operative Scott Foval said in the videos that there was a “script” put out at Trump events to attempt to get the “crazies” to “bite.”
&#8220;It is not hard to get some of these assholes to pop off,&#8221; Foval <a href="https://www.npr.org/2016/10/19/498587397/sting-video-purports-to-show-democrats-describing-how-to-commit-voter-fraud" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s a matter of showing up to want to get into the rally in a Planned Parenthood T-shirt, or &#8216;Trump is a Nazi,&#8217; you know. You can message to draw them out, and draw them to punch you.&#8221;
Both Foval and Democrat activist Robert Cramer ended up <a href="https://archive.ph/SJjS0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">losing their</a> jobs as a result of the videos, though both claimed that their comments were taken out of context.
<h2>Google And Political Bias</h2>
In July 2019, Project Veritas released <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/google-takes-action-against-whistleblower-who-james-barrett" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a video</a> of Greg Coppola, a senior Google engineer, saying that the tech giant designed its algorithms in a way that was biased against conservatives. 
“I’ve been coding since I was ten [years old],” Coppola told Project Veritas in the interview. “I have a PhD, I have five years’ experience at Google and I just know how algorithms are. They don’t write themselves. We write them to do what want them to do.”
“I think for a while we had tech that was politically neutral,” Coppola <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/google-takes-action-against-whistleblower-who-james-barrett" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in the video. “Now we have tech that really, first of all is taking sides in a political contest, which I think, you know, anytime you have big corporate power merging with political parties can be dangerous.”
Google has consistently maintained that it is politically neutral, but many conservatives remain unconvinced. 
According to Coppola, the crackdown by tech companies on conservative viewpoints began with the rise of Trump. Since Coppola’s comments, the battle between tech and conservatives has only grown fiercer. 
<h2>ABC Drops Interview With Jeffrey Epstein Accuser</h2>
One of the most explosive Project Veritas stories came in 2019, with the publication of a video obtained from an ABC insider showing host Amy Robach discussing her frustration that the network killed a story she wanted to do with an accuser of pedophile billionaire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jeffrey-epstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeffrey Epstein</a>.
“I had this interview with Virginia Roberts. We would not put it on the air. First of all, I was told, ‘Who’s Jeffrey Epstein? No one knows who that is. This is a stupid story. Then the palace found out that we had her whole allegations about Prince Andrew and threatened us a million different ways. We were so afraid we wouldn’t be able to interview Kate and Will that we, that also quashed the story,” Robach said in the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lfwkTsJGYA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a>.
She said that they had photos to back up the claims. “It was unbelievable what we had. Clinton. We had everything. I tried for three years to get it on to no avail and now it is all coming out and it is like these new revelations and I freaking had all of it,” Robach added.
The network later <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/breaking-abc-news-and-amy-robach-respond-to-project-veritas-bombshell-epsteincoverup-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> that the material they had did not meet its editorial standards, but the video raised questions about media coverage of Epstein, who was often seen with the rich and famous before his arrest and subsequent death in jail.
<h2>Pfizer And The COVID &#8216;Cash Cow&#8217;</h2>
In January, Project Veritas put out a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pfizer-denies-conducting-covid-gain-of-function-research-in-delayed-response-to-veritas-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bombshell video</a> of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pfizer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pfizer</a> official appearing to describe either proposed or ongoing experiments by the pharmaceutical firm. The video, which quickly racked up millions of views, shows Pfizer’s director of research and development, Jordan Walker, divulging that the company has considered mutating COVID through “directed evolution” in monkeys to develop new vaccines.
The video quickly raised questions about what kind of research Pfizer was conducting, and its view of the pandemic with Walker referring to COVID as a potential “cash cow” for years to come. 
Days after the video, Pfizer denied that it was conducting gain-of-function style research on COVID, but many remained skeptical. Project Veritas <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pfizer-exec-appears-to-admit-there-are-concerning-impacts-on-female-reproductive-health-from-vaccine-in-round-two-of-project-veritas-sting">later released</a> a video where Walker appeared to admit that Pfizer was aware of potential side effects of the vaccine on women’s fertility. 
The Pfizer videos were representative of the work of Project Veritas during O’Keefe’s era: an undercover sting of one of the most powerful companies in America that few would dare attempt. 
The group&#8217;s tactics and targeting of powerful entities found it in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/journalism-is-on-trial-project-veritas-ordered-to-pay-democratic-consulting-firm-over-2016-sting-operation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">crosshairs</a> of corporations, nonprofits, Democrat operatives, the legacy media, and even the federal government. In November 2021, O’Keefe’s home was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/06/us/politics/james-okeefe-project-veritas-ashley-biden.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raided</a> by the FBI in connection with a stolen diary reportedly belonging to Ashley Biden.
O’Keefe’s ability to continue putting out narrative-shifting videos is part of what made it so shocking when he announced he was out at the company last week. The board accused him of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/project-veritas-releases-statement-on-why-james-okeefe-was-removed-from-company" target="_blank" rel="noopener">financial mismanagement</a> and some of the group&#8217;s employees had accused him of poor behavior. Many of the group&#8217;s former whistleblowers, however, have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-project-veritas-whistleblowers-speak-out-in-support-of-james-okeefe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">come out in support</a> of O’Keefe, through both videos and letters. 
While O’Keefe may be done with Project Veritas, he is not done with investigative journalism, already hinting at forming a new organization. 
“Our mission continues on. I’m not done,” he said in a recent video. “The mission will perhaps take on a new name.”

In the letter, over a dozen Project Veritas “insiders,” say that they were shocked by the removal of O’Keefe, arguing that there would be no Project Veritas without O’Keefe, who founded the investigative group over ten years ago.
“As individuals who trusted Project Veritas with our stories, the removal of James O’Keefe by the Board of Directors was extremely disappointing and shocking. Without James O’Keefe, there is no Project Veritas,” the <a href="https://twitter.com/Perpetualmaniac/status/1629226331073564672" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a>, which was shared on social media by Google whistleblower Zach Vorhies, says. 
“We sacrificed our jobs and livelihoods in order to give James O’Keefe hard evidence of fraud and corruption, whether it was at CBS news, Fox news, Google, Facebook, UPS, Pfizer, Hasbro, DHS, CNN, ESPN, HHS, or United Healthcare,” the letter continues. 
The letter added that while many of them had been “reluctant” to share their stories with the public, they “trusted” O’Keefe and knew they would not sell them out. 
They added that they still had “unanswered questions” about what happened between O’Keefe and the board to cause the separation. Those who signed onto the letter included Facebook insider Cassandra Spencer, Hasbro insider David Johnson, and Pfizer insider Melissa McAtee, among others. 
“Because of James there is a growing movement of whistleblowers who are willing to come forward and tell their stories. We stand united with James O’Keefe and his team of journalists that selflessly strive to expose corruption and uncover the truth,” the letter concluded. 
According to the board of Project Veritas, they had concerns about O’Keefe’s financial decisions and staff retention at the group. “James has spent an excessive amount of donor funds in the last three years on personal luxuries,” the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/project-veritas-releases-statement-on-why-james-okeefe-was-removed-from-company" target="_blank" rel="noopener">board said</a> in a statement.

The board added that O’Keefe was “suspended indefinitely pending the resolution of a fulsome investigation and clarity which will need to be provided by a third party investigative audit report.”
O’Keefe <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/james-okeefe-resigns-from-project-veritas-reports" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced Monday that</a> he was out at the group, saying that his position and authority had been stripped from him. 
“Currently, I have no job at Project Veritas,” he added. “I have no position here based upon what the board has done — so I’m announcing to you all that today, on President’s Day, I’m packing up my personal belongings here.”
O’Keefe also claimed he had issued an ultimatum to the board to resign, which was not heeded, and he hinted at a future beyond Project Veritas. “Our mission continues on. I’m not done. The mission will perhaps take on a new name,” he said.

Former Project Veritas Whistleblowers Speak Out In Support Of James O’Keefe

Project Veritas&#8217; Board of Directors released a <a href="https://www.projectveritas.com/news/statement-from-the-project-veritas-board-of-directors/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> Monday evening explaining their reasons for removing Project Veritas&#8217; founder and CEO James O&#8217;Keefe from the company.
The statement came after O&#8217;Keefe released a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/james-okeefe-releases-statement-on-being-removed-from-project-veritas-hints-at-future-plans">45-minute video</a> Monday afternoon saying that he was not sure why he was being removed from the company and that the only thing that had changed in recent weeks was the release of the company&#8217;s undercover sting videos showing an alleged Pfizer employee making claims about things that were reportedly happening inside the pharmaceutical company.
The board of directors said in a statement that the company &#8220;made numerous attempts in the last 14 days to have a conversation with James, but he ignored our outreach and decided to instead leak private information to others, either by doing so himself or by proxy.&#8221;
&#8220;We had a Board meeting scheduled for tomorrow where James was invited, and there was also a Board meeting on Friday, February 10, where James was invited (but did not attend) to discuss the financial malfeasance that was discovered, which requires us to act in order to remain in compliance with the law,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;There were two subjects that the Board wished to come to terms with James on: the company’s long-term sustainability based on staff retention and morale, and the company’s financial health — which has been a serious concern for several months now.&#8221;
The company said that its leadership has not finished its investigation into O&#8217;Keefe&#8217;s alleged spending of donors&#8217; money over the last several years but that an initial review revealed that &#8220;James has spent an excessive amount of donor funds in the last three years on personal luxuries.&#8221;
The statement said that O&#8217;Keefe was &#8220;suspended indefinitely pending the resolution of a fulsome investigation and clarity which will need to be provided by a third party investigative audit report.&#8221;
The statement highlighted the following &#8220;small representative sample&#8221; of O&#8217;Keefe&#8217;s alleged spending of donor&#8217;s money:

<li>$14,000 on a charter flight to meet someone to fix his boat under the guise of meeting with a donor</li>
<li>$60,000 in losses by putting together dance events such as Project Veritas Experience</li>
<li>Over $150,000 in Black Cars in the last 18 months</li>
<li>Thousands of dollars spent on DJ and other equipment for personal use</li>
<li>Hundreds of other acts of personal inurement</li>
</ul>
The statement said that the board of directors wants to work out the situation with O&#8217;Keefe but that he &#8220;left us no choice but to suspend him in the last few weeks when he unilaterally fired the CFO, who can only be fired with Board approval.&#8221;
&#8220;That is a violation of our non-profit&#8217;s bylaws. James went as far as to say that a Board member had approved this firing to others, but it was later discovered that it was not the case. That member did not approve the firing. The Board approved James&#8217; suspension so it would have time to properly investigate these internal infractions,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;The Board has a legal obligation to comply with state and federal law, and these matters are serious ones that cannot be ignored.&#8221;
&#8220;James claims that the Board did not allow him to send an apology letter to the staff, which is not true. The Board never told James he was not to speak with staff members, nor that he could not apologize to them,&#8221; the statement added. &#8220;Even with all of this public fallout, the Board still wants to speak with James. We did not fire him, nor do we want him to resign. We would like to continue conversations with James to resolve internal matters rather than litigate them publicly.&#8221;
