When my daughter Jeanette was only four years old, she looked up at me and said, “Mommy, thank you for giving me my life.”
Those words have echoed in my heart ever since. They marked the beginning of a journey that taught me the profound truth I hold today: We must choose life under all circumstances, because life is worth fighting for.
At 12 years old, after moving from Mexico City to Los Angeles, my world shattered. I was kidnapped by two men, repeatedly raped, and left for dead.
No one is ever prepared for that to happen.
When I finally made it out and home, I was severely depressed. My family had no idea how to help and offered little compassion. I was told that my life was ruined, that no one would ever want me, and that everything was destroyed. At such a young age, hearing those things left me with nowhere to turn.
I felt utterly alone. Nightmares haunted me. I couldn’t sleep. In desperation, I took all the pills I could find, hoping to end the pain. I woke up in a hospital, where doctors informed me I was pregnant.
Since many people consider this one of the “exceptions” where abortion seems justifiable, the doctor told me not to worry. He said abortion was legal, and I could have one. But at that moment, questions flooded my mind: Would abortion take away my nightmares? Would it erase my fear of going outside? Would it heal the abuse or undo what had been done to me?
He answered no to every question. Abortion would do none of those things. So why was that the only option offered? I needed real help — like psychological support, medical care, and legal assistance — but none were offered. The only solution presented to me was to kill my child.
The doctor performed a sonogram, and I asked if I could hear the heartbeat. When that tiny sound reached me, hope stirred in my heart for the first time. I realized I wasn’t going to be alone anymore. This child was mine; my DNA, my blood, growing inside of me.
I refused to give my baby the death penalty for a crime she didn’t commit.
To this day, those two men who hurt me have never faced trial. It took many years, but I eventually prayed for them. Forgiveness came slowly, but it came.
Raising a child at 12 was incredibly hard. I grew up amid domestic violence and my father’s alcoholism. No one is truly prepared to parent at any age, but my daughter became the light in my darkness. She gave me the courage to stand up, find work, and strive to be better.
Although people judged me because I was a young girl already with a baby, I didn’t care. She loved me more than anyone ever had. Through her love, my heart began to heal. She was the reason I got up every morning, worked, and pushed forward. I emancipated myself, lived on my own with her, and we grew up together.
Jeanette went to college and graduated. She founded a nonprofit to support girls facing depression, discrimination, and teenage single-motherhood. She provided diapers and baby clothes — anything a struggling mother needs because she knew what I had lacked. She would say, “Look at me, Mom. I’m normal.” She was kind and compassionate, and she believed her purpose was to help others.
Tragically, my daughter passed away a few years ago. The pain still breaks my heart. She was no second-class citizen. She deserved every bit of respect and dignity as anyone else. Her conception came from violence, but that never defined her. She shaped the woman I am today.
Abortion doesn’t undo rape. It inflicts double trauma, a second violation you will never forget. If I had chosen abortion, I wouldn’t be here. I would have ended up dead, on drugs, or lost entirely. Instead, Jeanette helped me become a better person. She reminded me that love is always stronger than violence.
When people say a child conceived in rape will only remind the mother of her trauma forever, I say yes, she is a reminder. But she is a reminder that life triumphs over brutality, that hope can rise from ashes.
We must make abortion unthinkable, even in the hardest cases. We need more programs: legal aid, psychological support, safe housing, and protection for girls abused in their own homes. Remove them from danger and protect the child, because it’s never the child’s fault.
No woman should be violated as I was. But if you ask what was worse, the rape or losing my daughter, the answer is clear: losing her was the worst pain I’ve ever known. She gave me hope, love, and purpose. I am grateful for every day we shared.
When Jeanette was four years old, she thanked me for giving her life. But in truth, it was my daughter I should have thanked instead. She gave me my life back.
Life is worth fighting for. Every life, no matter how it is conceived. One single life saved changes the world.

Democrat abortion extremism lost this week with a Supreme Court decision that reins in blue state lawfare against charitable pregnancy centers. In a 9-0 ruling, First Choice Women’s Center prevailed over former New Jersey Attorney General Matt Platkin. Platkin had attempted to force the pregnancy center to hand over private donor information and had even gone so far as to coordinate with Planned Parenthood on a “consumer alert” targeting pregnancy centers across the state with false and unsubstantiated accusations. 
The Court’s decision allows First Choice and pregnancy centers across the country to defend their rights and continue serving women and children without fear of government threats or interference. The ruling on First Amendment grounds supported by even Ketanji Brown Jackson is a decisive victory for life.
As many as <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/hidden-epidemic-nearly-70-of-abortions-are-coerced-unwanted-or-inconsistent-with-womens-preferences/">six out of 10 women</a> with a history of abortion say they would have chosen life if they had more support. Today, organizations like First Choice are providing more of this kind of support since Roe v. Wade fell.
For example, the Charlotte Lozier Institute found in 2024 alone, the national network of pregnancy centers provided babies and moms over <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/new-pregnancy-centers-provided-over-452-million-in-services-and-goods-to-families/">$452 million</a> in material, medical, educational and other services and goods. Unlike the abortion industry’s “services,” the overwhelming majority of these gifts were provided completely free of charge. The testimony of the women they support — some who were rescued from domestic violence, sex trafficking, homelessness, and so much more — should warm even the coldest heart.
Interestingly, even Platkin’s typical allies opposed his lawfare. The American Civil Liberties Union, for example, filed an amicus brief in defense of First Choice. Platkin pushed his unconstitutional crusade anyway, showing his determination to bulldoze whatever rights necessary to put local pregnancy centers out of business.
From the beginning, it was obvious that Platkin’s attack on First Choice was politically motivated. His counsel <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/12/02/us-news/scotus-justice-clarence-thomas-forces-nj-attorney-to-admit-state-targeted-pro-life-group-with-probe/">admitted</a> during Supreme Court oral arguments that they had not received any complaints that First Choice was misleading customers. Even so, he chose to initiate an intrusive investigation against the center and to issue a subpoena for donor records and other financial information. According to First Choice’s legal documents, this had the effect that Platkin hoped it would — First Choice donors admitted they would have been “<a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/24-781_pok0.pdf">less likely</a> to donate to First Choice if we had known information about the donation might be disclosed.”
Concerningly, pro-abortion radicals have shown they will stop at nothing to push their extremism through. Far gone are the days of the Democrats being the party of “safe, legal, and rare.” Blue state attacks on pregnancy centers reveal the truth: Democrats are not pro-choice, they’re pro-abortion.
Attorney General Platkin’s attacks on First Choice are <a href="https://sbaprolife.org/latest-news/17-insane-things-democrats-have-said-about-pregnancy-centers">just the latest example</a>. States like Colorado and California have cracked down on pregnancy centers providing Abortion Pill Reversal, a safe, effective option that has saved 7,000+ babies. Scores of pregnancy centers around the country were targeted and vandalized in the wake of Dobbs. With the Biden administration more focused on jailing peaceful pro-lifers, most of the perpetrators remain at large. Kamala Harris, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and other Democrats have called for pregnancy centers to be shut down.
It is shocking the lengths Democrats have gone to in abandoning women to promote abortion at all costs. To them, more abortions equal more success, and they know they have to engage in these tactics to prop up Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion. Nationwide, Planned Parenthood locations are closing their doors due to filthy facilities, plummeting income, and too few staff. Meanwhile, pregnancy centers are booming because they are offering women real choices, free of charge. As long as they exist to offer babies and moms support, organizations like First Choice will continue undercutting businesses that the abortion industry needs to thrive. That is an unpardonable offense for abortion extremists.
Across the country, other pro-abortion activists were watching to see if this venture succeeded. They saw Platkin successfully bully pro-life volunteers into courts all the way up to the Supreme Court. Thankfully, every single Supreme Court justice agreed that Platkin was dangerously wielding the government to chill Americans’ rights. While it’s refreshing that the Court smacked Platkin’s attack down, we can’t let our celebration drift into complacency.
If anything, this victory should serve as a sober warning of the lengths that our pro-abortion opponents will go to promote their vision for abortion on demand nationwide. As long as they are in positions of power, blue state politicians will continue wielding their offices against innocent citizens serving their neighbors in need.

Unanimous SCOTUS Ruling Smacks Down Blue-State Lawfare Targeting Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers

A serious threat to the pro-life movement and to the First Amendment was halted this week. The Supreme Court unanimously <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/supreme-court-unanimously-slaps-down-blue-state-targeting-pro-life-group">ruled in favor</a> of First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, affirming that Christian nonprofits do not forfeit their constitutional rights simply because their beliefs don’t align with those of powerful politicians supporting anti-Christian ideologies.
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin targeted First Choice because of its religious and pro-life views by issuing a subpoena and opening an unjustified and unfounded investigation against it. This was never about protecting the public.
Platkin — whose crusade has been continued by his successor, Jennifer Davenport  — engaged in a bald-faced fishing expedition, proposing to troll unlawfully in waters protected by the First Amendment simply because of convictions that did not align with his own.
Deeply sensitive information was demanded, including the names, addresses, phone numbers, and places of employment of First Choice donors, along with up to 10 years of internal, confidential documents. There was no allegation of fraud, no evidence of financial misconduct, and no suggestion that funds were being misused or improperly handled. The organization was targeted for one reason alone: its Christian, pro-life convictions.
Platkin’s gross misuse of his office should concern every American.
When the government can single out nonprofits for investigation solely because of their beliefs, no organization is truly safe. The harassment of one faith-based pregnancy help organization places donors of all ministries nationwide at risk. This kind of intimidation has a chilling effect — not just on speech, but on generosity, service, and the freedom to live out one’s faith in the public square.
Life and its protection are foundational to a Judeo-Christian worldview because life is precious to God and, therefore, at the core of everything we value as a nation. Indeed, it is the first right identified in our founding documents. When we begin to penalize and isolate the organizations and individual donors who defend that right, we set society on a trajectory toward one that no longer values or protects life or liberty at all. We become an anti-life, pro-death culture.
We are grateful that the Supreme Court intervened, but this decision does not mean the danger has passed. This case exposed a deeply troubling willingness by some state officials to weaponize government authority against organizations they ideologically oppose.
This is not an isolated incident. It is yet another front in a broader campaign against pro-life, faith-based organizations — particularly Christian ones. It reflects a growing hostility toward those who work to protect unborn lives and walk alongside mothers and families long after a pregnancy test turns positive.
Faith-based nonprofits must have the assurance that sensitive donor records will not be seized simply because their mission is unpopular with those in power. Similarly, donors who sacrificially support these causes deserve to have their privacy and identities protected from gross governmental overreach. Pregnancy centers must be free to do the work they have faithfully done for decades: offering compassion, truth, and tangible support to women and children in need. When pregnancy help organizations are attacked, the entire pro-life movement is disrupted, and the entire nonprofit landscape is threatened.
Other hostile states, including California and New York, have already demonstrated a pattern of politically targeting pregnancy help organizations and infringing on their constitutional rights to speak, serve, and operate freely.
We cannot afford to let our guard down.
As leaders of Christian, pro-life nonprofits that work hand in hand with pregnancy centers every day, we stand firmly with them. Heartbeat International is the largest global network of pregnancy help organizations, including First Choice Women’s Resource Centers. Lifeline Children’s Services is a holistic child welfare ministry that provides pregnancy counseling and long-term support for women, children, and families — walking with mothers not only through pregnancy, but through postpartum care and beyond.
We have seen firsthand the life-saving and life-changing good this work accomplishes. We have also seen how quickly freedom can erode when deeply held personal convictions become grounds for prosecution. No one should face investigation, intimidation, or imprisonment simply for holding a pro-life belief.
That is why we must stand together — across organizations, across states, and across denominations. This is not just a First Choice Pregnancy Center issue, nor is it a Heartbeat International or Lifeline Children’s Services concern alone. It is a matter that affects the entire pro-life movement and every American who values constitutional freedom.
While this latest attack was thwarted, the responsibility to remain vigilant remains. The freedoms promised in the Constitution are preserved only when actively defended.
And these freedoms are worth defending, because life is precious and both are the backbone of our nation.

SCOTUS Unanimously Hands Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers A Big Win But The Fight Continues

Freedom to worship is never more than one election away from coming under fire. While an 800-page <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/media/1436006/dl">report</a> released this week by the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed what most of us in the pro-life community suspected — that the FBI under President Joe Biden actively targeted pro-life activists — it also revealed the utter disdain that some federal employees have for people of faith.
The vast majority of pro-life Americans are so because of their sincerely held religious beliefs. The Bible explicitly asserts that life is valuable from the moment of conception. From Psalm 139, “you knit me together in my mother’s womb,” to Jeremiah 1:5, “before I formed you in the womb I knew you,” God makes clear that the unborn are cherished. Combined with the commandment to not commit murder, destroying life in the womb is an abominable affront to God’s design. It is no surprise, then, when the pro-abortion movement so vigorously persecutes and attacks Christians. It is revealing, however, when they are so brazen about it.
The recently released report shows the extent to which the Biden administration and pro-abortion groups colluded to persecute peaceful pro-life activists and their families by using the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Though originally sold as legislation that would protect church-going Americans equally with those visiting abortion facilities, the FACE Act has long been used to persecute those who advocate for the unborn. In the 30 years since it was signed into law, <a href="https://roy.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-roy-celebrates-advancement-face-act-repeal-act#:~:text=Data%20my%20office%20obtained%20from,pro%2Dlifers%20ever%20again.%E2%80%9D">97% of federal prosecutions</a> under the FACE Act have been against pro-life Americans. This, despite hundreds of attacks against pregnancy resource centers and churches during that time. Instead of arresting those responsible for threatening, defacing, or burning these ministries, instead of using the FACE Act to prosecute those who made Sunday mornings feel unsafe for millions of Christians, the Biden administration rounded up those who peacefully advocated for protecting the unborn.
It is not conjecture to say that this was based partly on a contempt for Bible-believing Americans. The report revealed that in United States v. Zastrow (Zastrow being a Catholic family heavily engaged in pro-life activism), the Biden DOJ prosecutors tried to screen out jurors based on religion by seeking “an indirect way to get some more info about religion without directly asking for it.” This led to several Christian jurors being flagged for “preemptory and for-cause strikes from the jury pool because of their faith.” The prosecutors did not inquire about jurors’ possible liberal counterviews.
In emails, DOJ employees referred to Christian pro-life views as “culty,” and in the courtroom, openly lambasted the religious beliefs of the defendants. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frances Lee Carlson complained that, in the Zastrow case, they “ended up with a very Catholic magistrate on duty this week, and he was very particular about the bond conditions and not infringing on [the defendants’] First Amendment rights.” As if protecting First Amendment rights were a negative.
Then there was the case of Mark Houck, a father of seven who was arrested for allegedly violating the FACE Act. While speaking outside of a Planned Parenthood facility, an escort mocked and ridiculed Houck’s 12-year-old son. Houck stepped in and pushed the escort away from his young son. The DOJ report reveals that Houck and his attorneys offered to accept a summons and come in voluntarily if the Biden DOJ pursued a criminal case. But the Biden FBI declined the offer from the “devout pro-life Catholic” and instead sent 16 armed FBI agents and seven vehicles to Houck’s home and put him in handcuffs in front of his family.
It is hard to imagine the DOJ admitting that a defendant is a devout member of any other religion and using that as grounds to bring the full might of the FBI to their doorstep in a clear intimidation stunt. And yet that is what happened to Houck and many other Christian pro-life advocates during the Biden administration.
The freedom to worship as we see fit is one of the most cherished of all American rights. It is that freedom that the Pilgrims pursued when they crossed the Atlantic, fleeing religious persecution in the European homeland. They were followed by the Baptists, the Quakers, the Roman Catholics, among others, all seeking the chance to practice their faith free from a tyrannical government. Yet under the Biden administration, many faithful Christians were unjustly prosecuted by a government that viewed their beliefs as less equal than those who push for a right to abortion.
As we at Concerned Women for America celebrate April as <a href="https://concernedwomen.org/faith-month/">Faith Month</a>, this is a prescient reminder that freedom of religion cannot ever be taken for granted. America was founded on the solid foundations of Christianity, on the belief that all life is created equal, even life in the womb. May we continue to hold our government accountable whenever it forgets that.

Mark Houck was still in his pajamas when the FBI surrounded his home. Armed agents. Seven children watching from inside. His crime? Praying outside an abortion clinic. He wasn&#8217;t alone.
The Biden DOJ was actively partnering with radical abortion activists to surveil and imprison pro-lifers. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-biden-partnered-with-abortion-activists-to-track-and-imprison-pro-lifers?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=7&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=BREAKING%3A+How+Biden+Partnered+With+Abortion+Activists+To+Track+And+Imprison+Pro-Lifers">Emails obtained by the Daily Wire</a> reveal a top Justice Department official, Sanjay Patel, cozying up to groups like the National Abortion Federation (NAF) and Planned Parenthood. Patel called an NAF security director his &#8220;MVP&#8221; for flagging pro-life protests in real time. Abortion groups fed the DOJ dossiers packed with personal details including home addresses, family photos, driver&#8217;s license numbers, social media activity, and planned travel routes of peaceful Christian activists who hadn&#8217;t been charged with a crime.
This wasn&#8217;t sloppy governance. It was purposeful. Vengeful. For four years, the Biden Department of Justice resurrected and weaponized the FACE Act, originally designed to protect both abortion clinics and crisis pregnancy centers, almost exclusively against pro-lifers. Dozens faced federal charges for the &#8220;crimes&#8221; of praying, singing hymns, or sitting in front of abortion facility doors. Sentencing requests averaged 26.8 months for pro-life defendants versus just 12.3 months for pro-abortion ones. The FBI raided homes like that of Mark Houck with swarms of armed agents. Families like the Zastrows, evangelical Christians, were monitored for years before charges materialized. An 89-year-old woman and a Catholic priest were among those facing prison time.
Crickets from the media.
Can you imagine the wall-to-wall hysteria if the tables were turned? &#8220;Trump imprisons pro-abortion advocates!&#8221; It would be front-page news from coast to coast. You&#8217;d be suffocated by screaming libs. But when Christians and pro-lifers are the targets? When a grandmother faces federal prosecution for singing a hymn? The press corps is too busy carrying water for the abortion industry to notice.
Take Clare Ath, a pro-life advocate and senior policy analyst at Human Coalition, just one voice in a vast network of everyday heroes working to make abortion not only illegal, but unthinkable and unnecessary. <a href="https://www.humancoalition.org/impact/blog/how-does-childcare-affect-a-womans-abortion-decision/">Human Coalition</a> has helped rescue tens of thousands of babies through compassionate, holistic care — connecting abortion-minded moms to resources like ultrasounds, counseling, childcare vouchers, GED programs, job assistance, and long-term mentoring. They don’t just protest; they walk with women for years after that first decision to choose life.
That isn&#8217;t extremism. That&#8217;s love with a plan.
Pregnancy resource centers now outnumber abortion facilities nationally, providing hundreds of millions in free support last year: diapers, formula, parenting classes, and adoption referrals. Human Coalition&#8217;s own data supports the theory that when women receive real, substantive support, 76% say they would parent given better circumstances. They choose life. The pro-life movement at its best isn&#8217;t just defensive. It&#8217;s transformative.
The urgency is real. Over 63% of abortions in recent years have been chemical — mifepristone pills mailed via telehealth, often without proper medical oversight. These are increasingly deployed in dangerous, coercive situations: women pressured by partners, traffickers, or circumstance, with little to no follow-up care. Pro-life<a href="https://adflegal.org/article/new-study-1-in-10-abortion-drug-users-suffer-serious-complications/"> researchers have documented complication rates</a> — hemorrhaging, infections, incomplete abortions requiring surgery — far higher than the abortion industry admits. The left cheers this as &#8220;empowerment.&#8221; The women left bleeding and alone would likely describe it differently.
This week, Christians were rightly upset with President Donald Trump for both mocking the pope and depicting himself as Jesus in an AI-generated Truth Social post. As a Catholic, I was irritated and exhausted, I felt similar to <a href="https://www.thecut.com/2016/08/ben-affleck-smoking-through-the-pain-of-existence.html">Ben Affleck</a> as he smoked through the “pain of existence.” The Left, predictably, tried to leverage the moment to fracture Christian support for Trump.
However, when you remove yourself from the vacuum, you remember that there is another political party. As exasperated as Trump&#8217;s social media antics can make me, the Left reliably enrages me more. The Biden administration imprisoned Christians for peaceful prayer. It ignored <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-ad-slams-biden-inaction-continued-assault-pro-life-centers-churches">hundreds of violent attacks on churches</a> and pregnancy centers in the aftermath of Dobbs — firebombings, vandalism, explicit Jane&#8217;s Revenge threats — while the FBI was planting informants to monitor &#8220;radical traditionalist Catholics&#8221; inside their own parishes. And Democrats have spent years pushing abortion extremism that directly conflicts with core Christian teaching: taxpayer-funded late-term procedures, mandated gender ideology that violates religious conscience at every level of public life.
Meanwhile, despite his personal flaws and crude rhetoric, Trump has been a staunch defender of the Christian faith. He appointed the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/27/politics/conservative-catholics-gop-supreme-court">three Supreme Court justices</a> who overturned Roe v. Wade, ending a half-century of judicial tyranny, and reinstated pro-life policies like the <a href="https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/01/27/2026-01519/protecting-life-in-foreign-assistance">Mexico City Policy,</a> protecting billions in foreign aid from funding abortion overseas. He issued executive orders safeguarding religious liberty, spoke at the March for Life, and in his second term moved swiftly to pardon persecuted pro-lifers and create a <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/eradicating-anti-christian-bias/">task force against anti-Christian bias</a> in government. Across the globe, his administration has prioritized persecuted Christians and <a href="https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/white-house-press-release-president-trumps-top-100-victories-for-people-faith">defended biblical values</a> on the world stage.
Democrats make it easy to forgive our own side’s imperfections. Because over there, across the aisle, the grass isn’t greener. It’s scorched.
It would behoove us all to remember how bad we once had it under Biden and how quickly we could slide back into those dire, dangerous, and despicable times. The radical Left is always waiting, ready to shut you up, shut you down, and steal your freedoms. Christians cannot afford selective amnesia. We vote not for perfection, but for the side that doesn’t treat our faith as the enemy. The stakes — over a <a href="https://www.guttmacher.org/news-release/2026/guttmacher-releases-full-year-2025-abortion-incidence-and-travel-data">million</a> innocent lives every year — demand nothing less.

When I see President Trump and Pope Leo going at it, I think to myself, if we&#8217;re going to talk about presidents who are legitimately attacking Catholics, we should really be talking about Barack Obama, who went after the Little Sisters of the Poor and decided that he was going to mainstream every sin he could find.
We should talk about Joe Biden, who apparently was using the DOJ to go after pro-lifers, which is insane.
According to Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-biden-partnered-with-abortion-activists-to-track-and-imprison-pro-lifers">reporting</a>, President Biden&#8217;s administration relied on information gathered from radical pro-abortion groups to track, prosecute, and snoop on peaceful pro-life protesters who were later arrested by the FBI.
A DOJ report titled “The Biden Administration&#8217;s Weaponization of the FACE Act” examined more than 700,000 records.
The FACE Act is a bill that was designed to prevent people from obstructing entry to abortion clinics. The FACE Act also said that you weren&#8217;t allowed to invade churches during services. That came up in the context of Don Lemon and his friends invading and disturbing a church service in order to protest ICE.
The dossiers that the DOJ examined contained information about pro-life activists who had not yet been charged with any federal crimes, but were deemed threats by abortion groups because of their activism.

We&#8217;ve seen this kind of pattern emerge in all of the reporting from the Biden administration, over and over and over. They were using left-wing cutout groups to do their dirty work, whether it was the Biden administration State Department contracting out to other services to promote boycotts of right-wing news outlets, or whether it was the Biden administration outsourcing its investigative pursuits to anti-life, pro-choice organizations to target pro-lifers.
The Biden administration liked to do such things.
According to the Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-biden-partnered-with-abortion-activists-to-track-and-imprison-pro-lifers">reporting</a>, the weaponization can be traced to former Attorney General Merrick Garland&#8217;s resurrection of the National Task Force on Violence Against Reproductive Health Care Providers the month after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
That task force was operating out of the department&#8217;s civil rights division under the direction of Sanjay Patel, who was <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/doj-fires-4-prosecutors-face-act-biden-administration/">reportedly fired</a> on Monday. Patel was on texting terms with the National Abortion Federation security team and was regularly communicating with the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Feminist Majority Foundation, according to the DOJ. Members of the Biden DOJ were coordinating openly with various abortion groups and leaders in the abortion movement.
This was all part of these non-governmental organizations working hand-in-glove with the federal government under Joe Biden. Daily Wire reporting looked into the sentences that were sought by the Biden DOJ against pro-life activists, and what they found is that the Biden DOJ asked for a longer, average sentence for pro-life defendants compared to pro-abortion defendants. Actual sentences shook out to an average of 14 months for pro-life defendants, versus three months for pro-choice defendants.
This is astonishing. It demonstrates the full-scale animus that the Biden administration had for the pro-life movement.
This is nothing new. If you go back to the Clinton administration, the attempt to target political adversaries using the DOJ is perfectly obvious.
I&#8217;ve said over and over that the Left likes to say that Donald Trump broke all the rules, that he&#8217;s the one who killed the American political system.
The reality is that the American political system was already dead, and Trump stumbled upon it. Barack Obama used the IRS to go after pro-life groups, conservative groups, and Tea Party groups. Joe Biden&#8217;s DOJ targeted pro-lifers.
There&#8217;s nothing new here. Democrats have been doing this for a very, very long time.
Imagine the scandal if, for example, the Trump administration were coordinating with pro-life groups to go after abortion advocates. Can you imagine the scandal? Can you imagine the front page coverage?
One of the questions here is how people who were involved in this were allowed to stay at the DOJ for so long. Sanjay Patel was still working for the DOJ all the way until Monday, which is crazy and demonstrates the truth of President Trump&#8217;s statement that there is, in fact, a deep state.
There are lifelong appointees of various administrations who are still working inside the current administration — working against the president’s priorities. That&#8217;s very real. It just goes to show you that the attempt to cleanse the administration of holdovers is an ongoing pursuit.
The Democratic Party is perfectly willing to use the auspices of government to go after religious people. They&#8217;ve been doing it over and over and over again. It’s one of the reasons I said to my family that we ought to leave California. My great fear is that states like California will effectively quasi-criminalize religious practice by essentially saying that any 501C3 that receives tax-exempt status from the state government must buy into the left-wing social agenda.
If the Democrats were able to take over the Supreme Court, they would get away with that. They would be able to use anti-discrimination law as a guise for cracking down on First Amendment religiously protected activity. That is the direction that Democrats would love to move. And if left to their own devices, they absolutely would be able to do it.
If the Democrats had won in 2024, Kamala Harris would have attempted to stack the Supreme Court and state governments everywhere would be pursuing anti-religious activity just like this.
The Biden administration was, in my opinion, the worst administration in modern American history, worse even than Obama — because Obama didn&#8217;t say the quiet part out loud.

WASHINGTON—In an explosive report released on Tuesday, the Trump administration revealed the lengths to which the Justice Department went under President Joe Biden&#8217;s watch to target religious Americans who opposed abortion.
The Trump Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group reviewed over 700,000 internal records, The Daily Wire has learned, which they distilled into an 800-page report. The document, which details the Biden administration&#8217;s weaponization of federal law to target peaceful pro-life activists, also outlines how the Trump administration plans to correct the previous administration&#8217;s wrongs.
“This Department will not tolerate a two-tiered system of justice,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement on Tuesday morning. “No Department should conduct selective prosecution based on beliefs. The weaponization that happened under the Biden administration will not happen again, as we restore integrity to our prosecutorial system.”
At the center of the Biden administration&#8217;s efforts is the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, a law meant to protect access to pro-abortion and pro-life facilities alike. The Biden administration infamously used the FACE Act to prosecute and imprison peaceful pro-life protesters. And Tuesday&#8217;s report found that &#8220;Biden DOJ senior leadership&#8221; and members of the Reproductive Health Care Providers Task Force &#8220;provided extensive support to abortion clinics&#8221; and &#8220;ignored and downplayed vandalism and attacks against pregnancy resource centers or houses of worship.&#8221;
The DOJ report describes how the Biden-era &#8220;Reproductive Health Care Providers Task Force&#8221; was in constant contact with pro-abortion groups and the clinics they represented while disregarding pro-life groups. As The Daily Wire&#8217;s Leif Le Mahieu <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-biden-partnered-with-abortion-activists-to-track-and-imprison-pro-lifers?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=Original&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=How+Biden+Partnered+With+Abortion+Activists+To+Track+And+Imprison+Pro-Lifers">reported</a>, one Justice Department official often texted an abortion activist and worked to track the travel plans of Christian pro-life activists who had not been charged with any crimes. The emails also show how pro-abortion groups provided dossiers to the Biden DOJ with pictures and information — which was later used by the FBI to make arrests.
Meanwhile, the Task Force attorneys didn&#8217;t communicate with any pro-life pregnancy centers until September 2022 — months after the <a href="https://catholicvote.org/pregnancy-center-attack-tracker/">massive spike in violence against pregnancy centers</a> related to the leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion indicating Roe v. Wade would soon be overturned. Vandals would firebomb, attack, vandalize, or spray-paint the buildings with messages like &#8220;If abortions aren&#8217;t safe, then neither are you.&#8221;
When the Biden Justice Department did address the attacks on pregnancy centers, they merely identified possible contacts &#8220;via a quick Google search and directed Task Force leadership to schedule meetings.&#8221;
&#8220;The Task Force then had several meetings with the pro-life groups identified through that initial outreach and periodically sent them press releases,&#8221; the report states. &#8220;However, internally, CRT attorneys questioned whether to provide pregnancy resource centers with the same resources as abortion clinics, questioning whether these facilities fall under the FACE Act’s scope.&#8221;
Biden DOJ prosecutors were also engaging in inappropriate conduct, the report found. The prosecutors &#8220;knowingly withheld evidence that defense counsel requested to prepare an affirmative defense&#8221; and lied about not having that information available.
For example, in United States v. Gallagher, the defense counsel asked for historical data on FACE Act prosecutions, but the DOJ Task Force Director declined that data, saying he didn&#8217;t keep those records and that the DOJ wouldn&#8217;t provide them.
&#8220;Notably,&#8221; the report says, &#8220;he had this information readily available and decided not to share it with the defendants, despite sharing substantially identical information with NAF.&#8221;

The Biden prosecutors also tried to screen jurors based on their religious beliefs, according to the report: in United States v. Zastrow in the Eastern District of Michigan, assistant United States attorneys allegedly tried to screen jurors based on whether they were conservative or religious &#8220;while not inquiring about liberal counterviews.&#8221;
&#8220;They referred to Christian pro-life views as &#8216;culty&#8217; and lambasted the defendants’ beliefs in the courtroom,&#8221; the report said.
Notably, those assistant United States attorneys complained that they “ended up with a very Catholic magistrate on duty this week and he was very particular about the bond conditions and not infringing on [defendants’] First Amendment rights.”
The report specifically points to the case of Mark Houck, a Catholic father of a large family whose son was attacked by an abortion clinic worker. The Biden DOJ tried to use the FACE Act to prosecute Houck, but lost the case.
In Houck&#8217;s case, &#8220;prosecutors considered and declined a request for the defendant to self-surrender.&#8221; Apparently determined to make an example of Houck, the DOJ sent &#8220;16 FBI agents&#8221; to arrest him in front of his crying children.

&#8220;When faced with public backlash about the aggressive arrest, the Task Force Director attempted to blame the FBI, rather than address the Biden DOJ’s lack of initial guidance to law enforcement,&#8221; the report states. &#8220;The jury ultimately found Houck not guilty, and DOJ settled a civil claim to compensate for the Biden DOJ’s misconduct.&#8221;
Trump&#8217;s Justice Department argues that the Biden DOJ pursued more severe charges, as well as &#8220;significantly harsher sentences,&#8221; for the peaceful pro-life defendants than the violent pro-abortion defendants, requesting an average sentence of 26.8 months for pro-life defendants compared to the 12.3 months for pro-abortion ones.
&#8220;The Biden DOJ pursued significantly higher sentences (near the top range of sentencing guidelines) for pro-life defendants, while pursuing more lenient sentences against the handful of pro-abortion defendants that it charged,&#8221; the report reads. &#8220;Pro-life defendants were ultimately sentenced to an average of 14 months, while pro-abortion defendants were sentenced to an average of 3 months.&#8221;
Meanwhile, as the National Abortion Federation cozied up to the Biden Justice Department, that same department &#8220;sought to provide funding to pro-abortion groups,&#8221; according to the report.
Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, who was director of the Reproductive Health Care Provider Task Force, served as a reference for the National Abortion Federation&#8217;s application for a &#8220;large, private grant.&#8221;
&#8220;We found no record of ethics approval for a DOJ attorney to take an interest in the financial outcome of a party having business before the Biden DOJ,&#8221; the report says. &#8220;Indeed, it is doubtful that the Biden DOJ could validly give any such ethical clearance for this conflict of interest.&#8221;
The Trump administration says it is determined to rectify the actions of the Biden Justice Department. Tuesday&#8217;s report highlights Trump&#8217;s &#8220;full and unconditional pardons&#8221; of the many pro-life Christians who were targeted in these Biden-era prosecutions.
The Trump Justice Department also dismissed, with prejudice, three Biden-era civil lawsuits against &#8220;non-violent pro-life demonstrators and issued a directive that, moving forward, DOJ prosecutors may only bring FACE Act civil actions and prosecutions in extraordinary circumstances or in cases presenting significant aggravating factors.&#8221;

President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration relied on information gathered from radical pro-abortion groups to track, prosecute, and snoop on peaceful pro-life protesters, shocking emails released Tuesday by the Trump administration show.
The emails show a top Justice Department official referring to an abortion activist as an “MVP” for flagging pro-life protests to prosecute and seeking to track the travel plans of Christian pro-life activists not yet charged with crimes. The emails also reveal pro-abortion organizations providing dossiers to the Biden DOJ with personal information and pictures of pro-life activists who were later arrested by the FBI.
These dossiers contained the information of pro-life activists who were not yet charged with any federal crimes, but were deemed threats by the abortion groups because of their activism. Many of these individuals would later be prosecuted by the Biden administration.

Under Biden, dozens of pro-life protesters were prosecuted for peaceful protests that included praying, singing, and sitting in front of doors of abortion facilities. Several were sentenced to years in prison with others awaiting sentencing before President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/they-should-not-have-been-prosecuted-trump-pardons-23-pro-lifers-targeted-by-biden-doj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pardoned</a> the pro-life activists his first week in office.
The emails released Tuesday were included in an extensive report documenting how the Biden administration weaponized the Freedom of Access To Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act against pro-life activists. The law was originally passed to protect both crisis pregnancy centers and abortion facilities, but has been disproportionately used against pro-life protesters.
The weaponization can be traced to Biden resurrecting the National Task Force on Violence Against Reproductive Health Care Providers shortly after he was elected, according to the Justice Department. The task force operated largely out of the department’s Civil Rights Division under the direction of Sanjay Patel, who was reportedly fired on Monday.
“The Task Force Director was in regular, ongoing contact with pro-abortion non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the clinics they represented, but disregarded pro-life groups,” the Justice Department wrote Tuesday. “Pro-abortion groups capitalized on their relationship with the Task Force to gain internal information and push targets for FACE Act enforcement.”
Patel was on “texting terms” with the National Abortion Federation Security Team and “regularly communicated” with Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Feminist Majority Foundation, the Justice Department said.
In one exchange from November 17, 2021, Patel connected an FBI agent with Michelle Davidson, the security director for the National Abortion Federation.
Patel told the unidentified FBI agent that Davidson was “a wonderful contact for me as it relates to FACE Act investigations. She has been an MVP bringing incidents to my attention, often in real-time, which usually result in investigation/prosecution.”
The email was labeled as highly important and began with Patel greeting both, “How the heck are you?”
The bombshell revelations also include details of how abortion groups provided dossiers to government officials with information on pro-life activists later arrested by the FBI.
The report said that Patel monitored “pro-life activists for years before charging them. This monitoring included three of the pardoned defendants.”
One dossier provided to Patel from an abortion group in 2021 contained personally identifying information including addresses, photographs (including of spouses and young children), names of associates and affiliated ministries, information about their upcoming travel plans or planned protests, and even drivers’ license numbers of pro-life activists, according to the Justice Department.
One man who faced particular scrutiny from the Biden DOJ was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pardoned-pro-life-activist-says-hes-running-on-adrenaline-and-the-holy-ghost-after-trump-pardon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Calvin Zastrow</a>, an evangelical Christian from Michigan who travels the country with his family engaging in evangelism and pro-life activism. Emails showed that Zastrow and members of his family were flagged for the Justice Department and that Patel even enlisted the help of abortion activists to track the whereabouts and activities of Zastrow years before he was charged with any crimes.
An email from the National Abortion Federation to Patel on May 13, 2021 flagged “anti-choice social media” Facebook posts from Zastrow reflecting on how previous pro-life protests were “normal Christian behavior.”
A few months later, Patel reached out to the National Abortion Federation to inquire about his travel plans.
“Do you have any info on Zastrow and Co’s travel to Montana?” Patel asked Davidson of the National Abortion Federation on September 9, 2021. That came after Davidson emailed the DOJ telling officials she “bet” that Zastrow might attempt to lead a protest at an abortion facility in Montana.

Zastrow was <a href="https://www.justice.gov/archives/opa/pr/eleven-defendants-indicted-obstructing-reproductive-health-services-facility-tennessee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not charged</a> by the Biden Justice Department until October 2022 for a protest in Tennessee, and then again in February 2023 for a protest in Michigan.
His daughter, Eva Zastrow, was flagged in a 136-page dossier compiled by the Justice Department documenting attendees of a conference hosted by Operation Save America, a pro-life group.
“The entire Zastrow family is engaged in anti-choice activities and sometimes refer to themselves as the ‘Zastrow Holiness Revival Team.’ Several members of the Zastrow family, including Eva, have been arrested at reproductive health care facilities in the past,” the entry on the young woman read.
The dossier added that she was “closely associated” with Coleman Boyd, Dennis Green, Heather Idoni, James Zastrow, and Eva Edl, an 89-year-old communist death camp survivor. All of those individuals were later prosecuted by the Biden administration. It also included personal details like birthdate, email address, phone number, addresses, description of her physical appearance, and noted that she had traveled as a missionary.

The entry detailed protests Zastrow joined at abortion facilities in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/four-pro-lifers-face-prison-time-after-being-convicted-in-federal-court" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-89-year-old-woman-convicted-faces-over-a-decade-in-prison-for-peaceful-pro-life-protest" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michigan</a>, incidents for which she was later charged and faced prosecution at trials covered extensively by The Daily Wire.
Another dossier included in the exhibits for the report was compiled by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Global Safety and Security Intelligence and Investigations on Operation Save America. The dossier included the photos of multiple individuals later pardoned by Trump.

In contrast, the Trump Justice Department said the Task Force spent little time investigating the attacks on pregnancy centers and largely ignored pro-lifers concerned about the uptick in vandalism targeting pro-life establishments following the leak of the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
At the same time as they worked to prosecute pro-lifers with assistance from pro-abortion groups, Biden officials cozied up to abortion activists and agreed to help them obtain grants to continue their activism.
An email from October 31, 2023 showed Biden DOJ official Paige Fitzgerald describing the relationship between the federal government and the National Abortion Federation as stretching on for “decades.”
“We have worked with NAF for decades. NAF regularly refers potential FACE Act violations and other threats to RPCPs [Reproductive Healthcare Providers], helps us liaise with clinics and staff, lets us know about upcoming events that might result in security concerns so we can notify the FBI and USMS, etc,” Fitzgerald wrote in the email. “The information flow has always been a one-way street, and they have always been respectful, cooperative, and are frequently quite helpful.”
Fitzgerald was asking a federal ethics officer whether they would be allowed to provide a reference after the National Abortion Federation asked for a letter “on DOJ letterhead” to help them with a grant application.
“Is there anything that we can do to tell grant folks that they are totally legit and they have been valuable to our law enforcement efforts?” Fitzgerald wrote.
In a different email from December 2020, Patel said he could serve as a reference for the National Abortion Federation application for a grant with the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund.
Tuesday’s report contains other damning revelations, including that federal attorney Frances Lee Carlson complained about a magistrate judge being Catholic.
“Unfortunately, we ended up with a very Catholic magistrate on duty this week and he was very particular about the bond conditions and not infringing on their first amendment [sic] rights,” she wrote in an email to Patel while prosecuting a case in Michigan against multiple pro-life defendants later pardoned by Trump.
In response, Patel wrote, “Ugh…always a veritable circus with these cases.”
The Justice Department, citing <a href="https://perma.cc/S2VT-8Z7P" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporting</a> from The Daily Wire, also detailed how the Biden administration requested an average sentence of 26.8 months for pro-life defendants compared to 12.3 months for pro-abortion defendants.
The report is the latest effort by the Trump administration to rectify the Biden administration&#8217;s targeting of pro-life activists. The Justice Department settled last week with Mark Houck, a Catholic father of seven who was prosecuted under the FACE Act by the Biden administration. His home was raided by armed FBI agents after an incident at an abortion facility.
The settlement, for over $1 million was announced by the group Forty Days For Life, which told The Daily Wire it sent the message that Americans could still exercise their First Amendment rights.
“We have to fight our government when they&#8217;re coming after us. We still have free speech and we still have the Constitution,” Forty Days For Life President Sean Carney told The Daily Wire. “So it was a huge vote of confidence for pro-life Americans.&#8221;

Pro-lifers face a crossroads. The number of abortions is slightly <a href="https://www.kff.org/womens-health-policy/abortion-trends-before-and-after-dobbs/">up</a> since the defeat of Roe v. Wade, and pro-choice sentiment has <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/321143/americans-stand-abortion.aspx">risen</a>, reversing a 2010s trend that had the issue evenly split among Americans. Major media organizations continue to cover the pro-life position in a <a href="https://www.heritage.org/life/commentary/media-style-guide-pushes-abortion-propaganda-over-accurate-reporting">biased</a> way. And the conservative electoral coalition is wavering on the importance of the issue. This is how even red states such as Ohio, Kentucky, and others adopted largely unrestricted abortion access via referendum. The blue-collar, working class populists who now form a coalition with social conservatives will vote for pro-life candidates, but they do not prioritize the issue.
Even the Trump administration, which should be credited for many pro-life victories in the first term, including the appointment of Supreme Court judges who overturned Roe, has become less committed to the issue. The Trump Health and Human Services has been slow to reverse the Biden administration’s actions to make the abortion drug, mifepristone, which is <a href="https://www.kuow.org/stories/abortion-by-mail-is-on-the-rise-even-in-states-like-washington-where-it-remains-legal">responsible</a> for a majority of abortions, easily available by mail without prescription. The Trump Justice Department revealed last month that it is <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/mar/16/pro-lifers-slam-trump-team-asking-court-dismiss-abortion-pill-lawsuit/">defending</a> the pill’s efficacy in court, against Republican attorneys general. 
Pro-life activist groups should continue to press the administration to reverse these policies, and faithful Christians should continue to urge their legislators to uphold pro-life principles. But it’s time to return to the strong moral language that awakened the American conscience on this issue. Those of us who have grown up in the movement might wrongly assume that our fellow Americans understand the moral gravity of the issue of abortion. We are so often bogged down in talk of strategy and prudence — important and vital conversations in a complicated political environment — that we forget to explain to the public why it is we are pro-life. 
When the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision was announced, conservative Christians were divided on its morality. The Catholic Church was opposed, and lay leaders such as Nellie Gray, founder of the March for Life, began to <a href="https://marchforlife.org/women-of-the-pro-life-movement-nellie-gray/">organize</a>. Perhaps the most prominent pastor in America, W.A. Criswell from First Baptist Dallas, <a href="https://www.baptistpress.com/resource-library/news/how-southern-baptists-became-pro-life/">commended</a> the ruling: “I have always felt that it was only after a child was born and had life separate from its mother that it became an individual person, and it has always, therefore, seemed to me that what is best for the mother and for the future should be allowed.”
At the convention following the ruling, in 1974, the messengers overwhelmingly <a href="https://www.baptistpress.com/resource-library/news/unapologetically-pro-life-southern-baptists-rocky-road-to-roes-reversal/">approved</a> a pro-abortion resolution. A 1970 poll showed that 70% of Baptist pastors supported abortion. In a 1968 Christian Medical and Dental Association meeting, the participants released a statement <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/05/10/abortion-history-right-white-evangelical-1970s-00031480">saying</a>, “Whether the performance of an induced abortion is sinful we are not agreed, but about the necessity of it and permissibility for it under certain circumstances we are in accord.” At the same time, <a href="https://www.christianitytoday.com/1973/02/editorials-abortion-and-court/">Christianity Today</a> and <a href="https://www.sbc.net/resource-library/resolutions/resolution-on-abortion-and-infanticide/">the National Association for Evangelicals</a> condemned Roe. Most evangelicals, either ignorant or dismissive of early church <a href="https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0714.htm">teaching</a> condemning abortion, largely considered the practice to be a primarily Catholic concern.
Yet, only a few years later, abortion became a major concern not only for Catholics but for conservative evangelicals as well. Jerry Falwell, in 1979, declared it to be one of the key issues that <a href="https://religiondispatches.org/2013/02/05/not-so-lofty-origins-evangelical-pro-life-movement">characterized</a> a nation in decline: “The Roman Catholic Church for many years has stood virtually alone against abortion. I think it’s an indictment against the rest of us that we’ve allowed them to stand alone.”
Southern Baptists, led by Richard Land (who would later go on to lead their public policy arm), organized a group of Baptists for life who pushed for a strong <a href="https://www.sbc.net/resource-library/resolutions/resolution-on-abortion-and-infanticide/">resolution</a> at the 1982 convention declaring that human life begins at conception. Many other evangelical organizations followed. Ronald Reagan, who had signed a permissive abortion law in the late 1960s as California governor, changed his position and by 1980 pledged to be a pro-life president. He wrote a book, &#8220;Abortion and the Conscience of a Nation,&#8221; explaining his newfound convictions.

What changed opinion and brought evangelicals and Catholics together to champion unborn life? There are many factors, of course, including the tragic rise in the number of abortions that took place after Roe. But perhaps the most influential voice was a Presbyterian pastor named Francis Schaeffer, who <a href="https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2022/09/the-pro-life-legacy-of-francis-schaeffer">barnstormed</a> the country in 1979 with both a book and video series, &#8220;What Ever Happened to the Human Race,&#8221; explaining the abortion practice in detail and how this practice both devalued human life and was an attack on the Judeo-Christian principles upon which America was founded. Schaeffer teamed up with Boston pediatric surgeon and future U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop.
If Schaeffer’s bestseller &#8220;How Shall We Then Live,&#8221; published in 1976, moved Christians to get off the sidelines and resist the moral relativism that was eating away at the nation’s moral fabric, &#8220;What Ever Happened to the Human Race&#8221; gave conservative Christians an issue that stood at the center of this worldview clash. Jerry Falwell, writing in his memoir, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Strength-Journey-Jerry-Falwell/dp/0671648381/ref=sr_1_1?crid=46B3PE29U40P&amp;dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Mlq6E4nrFsXVUnEXNo2fVGoB6CR_2NjUOS0Eat50YH1Mg0eZaBt6CvoSwKJOeBKj.d8D9upLqo2uShX4M3ifZCfhvn1Q5PQcNWjyPviHBZEA&amp;dib_tag=se&amp;keywords=strength+for+the+journey+jerry+falwell&amp;qid=1773776563&amp;s=books&amp;sprefix=strength+for+the+journey+jerry+falwel%2Cstripbooks%2C159&amp;sr=1-1">admitted</a> that Schaeffer’s work moved him from a pietistic fundamentalism to a more socially active position. It was not long after reading Schaeffer that Falwell launched the Moral Majority. Richard Land <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Christian-Manifesto-Francis-Schaeffer/dp/1581346921">said</a>, “Schaeffer had enormous influence on a whole generation of baby-boomer evangelicals, calling us to engagement with society and inspiring us to be the salt and light that Jesus commanded.” Chuck Colson, the Nixon hatchet-man turned Christian leader, dedicated his book &#8220;How Now Shall We Live&#8221; to Schaeffer, whom he called a mentor.
The consistent Catholic conviction and the work of men such as Schaeffer birthed the enduring and effective pro-life movement. Today, nearly a half-century later, it is one of the most powerful movements in American politics. Roe is gone, many states outlaw abortion, and pregnancy resource centers dot the American landscape, offering help and hope to young mothers in crisis. This justice movement has introduced a moral vocabulary into American life — that even the most vulnerable Americans are worthy of dignity and respect — to the point that its most bitter foes co-opt this language to accuse us of being inconsistently pro-life.
So often the pro-life position is on the defensive. We are told that our position is anti-women. We are asked for our five-point plans on poverty reduction and health care. Pro-life champions should have thoughtful answers on these important issues. And yet we should also be willing to ask the question of those who oppose the sanctity of life: Do you believe in the humanity of the unborn child? Do you believe there is a baby there? If so, why would you be in favor of ending that life for the crime of existing? 
Pro-lifers must return to the art of persuasion. We cannot assume our fellow Americans and even many of our fellow Christians understand the issue. And we should do it in a way designed to generate converts, not in ways that push folks away from our side. The small but loud cohort of internet activists who fantasize about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-radical-abortion-push-threatens-pro-life-progress-and-women-could-pay-the-price">throwing women in jail</a> and repealing the 19th Amendment may seem courageous to their text threads, but they are not moving public opinion and in fact may be doing the work of those who seek to expand abortion.
Courage requires the fortitude to stand up for what is right, even when it’s unpopular. But it also requires the wisdom to make arguments that expand the movement. In a democracy, this is the only way to make change. Many of the activists in the movement use moral language, but we need to urge our political leaders to do this as well. Too often, with the exception of folks such as Senator James Lankford, who <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8GgawZuOBg">routinely</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV-7c8aKqDk">speaks</a> on the Senate floor about the value of human life, many of our pro-life politicians, when asked about the issue, either mumble about exceptions or stare at their shoes. They rarely give an eloquent defense of the unborn. 
We should defend the sanctity of life in the public square by appealing both to America’s Judeo-Christian heritage and to our founding principles in the Declaration. This is how successful social activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. helped build a movement that saw real civil rights victories in the 20th century. He appealed to America’s uniquely Christian character by talking about the God-given dignity of black people. And he appealed to the words in our founding documents that declare “all men are created equal.” 
Two hundred and fifty years after this grand experiment in human government was formed, we have come much closer to realizing the reality of those words. And yet, as long as unborn children are treated as less than human, we have so much further to go. While we strategize and support pro-life candidates as we should, let’s return once again to appealing to the moral imagination of our fellow citizens. And perhaps, several decades from now, we might look back at this moment as the influential second chapter in the long pro-life struggle.

The Next Chapter Of The Pro-Life Fight May Hinge On A Major Shift

A congressional candidate running as a &#8220;100% pro-life&#8221; conservative with a “titanium backbone” once said a Georgia law banning abortion after an unborn baby’s heartbeat could be detected was “counter” to the majority of society and passed to satisfy the far right. 
Former Hollywood executive Ryan Millsap, who&#8217;s running for Congress in Georgia&#8217;s 10th Congressional district, says he is fully pro-life. But years ago he said that the state’s heartbeat law was bad for business and urged lawmakers to reconsider pro-life protections, according to multiple interviews unearthed by The Daily Wire. 
Millsap said Georgia&#8217;s heartbeat law, signed by Governor Brian Kemp in May 2019, was out of step with the western world in an interview with Deadline. He was CEO of the production company Blackhall Studios at the time. 
“It was a scary time for those of us in the entertainment industry because a law like that would certainly put Georgia in a very awkward position relative to the modern English-speaking world,” Millsap <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/06/reopening-hollywood-ceo-georgia-blackhall-studios-production-hub-1202956336/">said</a> in June 2020. “It is a huge disadvantage if you live in a state that has laws on its books that are counter to the majority of society.”
In the same interview, Millsap said that the law was only passed because Kemp was bowing to the far right.
“The governor’s farthest-right support base wanted it and the governor’s farthest right support base asked him for it and … played a key role in getting him elected,” he said. “That put him in a very complicated position. … I believe the political winds required a bill.”
After the bill was first passed by the legislature, Millsap said that boycotts from film studios targeting the state were economically, not politically driven. He said Hollywood was not “trying to impose its values” on the state. 
“The production companies don&#8217;t care, necessarily, about the moral consequences, one way or the other, of a law. They care about their supply chain and business. And when we pass laws that disrupt their supply chain, it makes us less competitive to London or Canada,” he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A75WXKgdj20">said</a> in October 2019. “I think that the biggest worry is just whether or not Georgian politicians understand the value of the entertainment industry, understand that it&#8217;s a non-political set.” 
Millsap also suggested that an injunction blocking the law after it went into effect allowed “business as usual” to move forward, but that the state had “some ground to make up” politically. 
The heartbeat law went into full effect in October 2024 when the state Supreme Court ruled in its favor. At least 12 Republican-led states have enacted heartbeat or total bans on abortion. 
“Ryan Millsap is a husband and father who believes in the miracle of life, has always been 100% pro-life and supports the state’s law now that the issue has been settled,&#8221; his campaign told The Daily Wire. &#8220;He believes that the Dobbs decision was correctly decided and that states should address this issue and that no federal funds should be used for abortion.”
Millsap, who launched his campaign last month, is running as a political outsider and is campaigning on deporting illegal immigrants, banning congressional stock trading, and supporting cryptocurrency. 
“I&#8217;m running to smash the status quo and fight back against the radical Left and the RINOs. I bought into their lies, too. But COVID and Antifa made me realize they sold us out,” he said in his campaign launch ad.
He <a href="https://www.ajc.com/politics/2026/03/provocative-film-executive-enters-georgia-house-race-with-4m-pledge/">told</a> the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was running &#8220;because we need someone with a titanium backbone who doesn&#8217;t care about climbing the political ladder but is running to defeat the radical left once and for all and end the reign of radical lunatic liberals and impotent RINOs in Congress.&#8221;
The other two candidates running for the district are plumber Jeff Baker and state Rep. Houston Gaines. The Daily Wire reached out to both to ask for their position on abortion. 
Gaines <a href="https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/55445#17113">voted</a> for the heartbeat bill during his time in the legislature shortly after he flipped a state House seat back Republican. 
“As a Christian and a conservative, I&#8217;m proud to be pro-life and will always stand up for what&#8217;s right. When Democrats tried to threaten me, I stood strong and passed Georgia&#8217;s Heartbeat Bill,” Gaines told The Daily Wire. “While my opponent joined Hollywood to fight Georgia&#8217;s Heartbeat Bill with everything he had, we got it done. Georgia stands for life.”
Baker said he is &#8220;100% pro-life with exception to health of mother. Abortion in any other respect is murder and is against my Christian beliefs.&#8221;
&#8220;I would support a Constitutional Amendment that states life begins at conception,&#8221; he added.
Gaines has been endorsed by House GOP leaders like Reps. Jim Jordan, Steve Scalise, and Tom Emmer.
A debate for the GOP candidates is set for April 26.

Most Americans, including Democrats and independents, want to change a federal government policy allowing abortion pills to be mailed with impunity throughout the United States, according to polling obtained by The Daily Wire. 
Over two-thirds (67%) of Americans surveyed said they would support the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reinstating an in-person doctor visit requirement for accessing an abortion pill via the mail, polling for the 85 Fund conducted by CRC Research showed. That included 72% of Republicans, 68% of independents, and 63% of Democrats. About 27% of Americans opposed reinstating the in-person requirement. 
Pro-life leaders, who have blamed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/despite-dobbs-more-babies-are-still-being-aborted-in-the-united-states">increasing abortion rates</a> across the country on mail-order abortions, touted the polling as a reason for the FDA to revoke the Biden-era policy allowing pills to be shipped without a doctor’s visit. 
“It&#8217;s overwhelmingly clear that Americans support reinstating the in-person dispensing requirement to protect women taking mifepristone,” Christina Francis, the CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs, told The Daily Wire. “As physicians caring for women and babies every day, we see the devastating impact that the FDA&#8217;s relaxed standards are having on women&#8217;s health and safety.”

The polling was conducted from March 12-18 and sampled 1600 likely voters randomly selected from opt-in panel participants. Those surveyed were 33% Republican, 34% independent, and 32% of Democrats, with 31% identifying as pro-life, 39% as pro-choice, and 27% as somewhere in between.
Seventy percent of those surveyed also said they would support the FDA making an in-person medical evaluation required before and after taking an abortion pill, while 62% said they were more likely to support an in-person requirement after learning that some men were coercing women into having abortions. Nearly half of Americans (49%) said they would be less likely to support their representative if they supported abortion pills being shipped without a medical evaluation.

The Trump administration has promised to conduct a safety study of the abortion drug, but pro-life advocates have grown impatient. They say the allowance of mail-order abortion pills allows women and leftist activists to ship pills into states where medication abortion is technically illegal. The FDA has said that reimposing the in-person requirement would interfere with the ongoing safety study. 
A Georgia woman was recently charged after investigators said she took eight abortion pills before her baby was delivered alive and survived for about an hour. &#8220;I know my infant is suffering, because I am the one who did the abortion. I want her to die,&#8221; the woman allegedly told nurses at the hospital.
Tens of thousands of abortions have been carried out in states like Texas and Tennessee with pills shipped in by activists and abortion doctors. Pro-life groups say the FDA policy allowing pills to be shipped without the in-person requirement effectively nullifies state laws.
States like Louisiana <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blatantly-unlawful-red-state-challenges-fda-over-mail-order-abortions">have sued</a> the FDA to reverse the mail-order regulations. That lawsuit was joined by a woman named Rosalie Markezich, a woman who says her ex-boyfriend ordered illegal abortion pills from California and then coerced her to take them to end the life of her unborn child.
“Voters could not be speaking any more clearly on abortion drugs flooding the mail, driving up abortion rates and undermining protections for women and children,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser told The Daily Wire. “They recognize this is an urgent public health and safety crisis that demands a return to common sense, like in-person doctor visits that were required under the first Trump administration.” 
Previous polling has found similar results, including one from Cygnal that found large majorities of Republican primary voters said they would be less enthusiastic to vote in the midterm elections if GOP leaders shy away from pro-life policies
&#8220;A broad consensus exists around the dangers of mail-order abortion drugs and the risks they pose to women’s health and safety,” said David Bereit, the executive director of the Life Leadership Conference. “A majority of Americans, across the political spectrum, express serious concern that eliminating in-person medical oversight increases the likelihood of complications, coercion, and undetected abuse.”

A pro-life group challenged a Detroit ordinance creating a speech buffer zone around abortion facilities, arguing that the city’s policy violates the First Amendment.
The group Sidewalk Advocates for Life sued Detroit in federal court on Wednesday over an ordinance it passed instituting a 15 foot buffer zone around all abortion facilities where pro-life advocates cannot enter. The ordinance also creates an eight foot floating buffer within 100 feet of an abortion facility for any client.
“The Ordinance, which is enforceable through criminal penalties, violates the Free Speech, Free Exercise, and Freedom of Assembly Clauses of the First Amendment and the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, as well as the Michigan Constitution,” said the <a href="https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/63d954d4e4ad424df7819d46/69bb229374c5d96c3dd7e4c6_DE%201-Complaint_SAFL%20v%20City%20of%20Detroit.pdf">lawsuit</a>, which was filed by the Thomas More Society.
Kevin Hammer, a member of Sidewalk Advocates, said that the ordinance bans him from handing out pro-life literature while holding a sign reading “Ask Me About Free Ultrasounds and Pregnancy Tests” outside of the Scotsdale Women’s Center in Detroit, Michigan.
“Our Sidewalk Advocates stand on public sidewalks offering a gentle word and information to women who are willing to receive it—that is what this ordinance criminalizes,” said Lauren Muzyka, the president and CEO of Sidewalk Advocates for Life.
The suit points out that a recent <a href="https://adflegal.org/case/brown-v-city-pittsburgh/">decision</a> from the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a similar ordinance implemented by Pittsburgh. The court said that the buffer zone ordinance was overly burdensome on free speech.
Detroit’s ordinance was passed in 2024 and <a href="https://mcclibraryfunctions.azurewebsites.us/api/ordinanceDownload/10649/1365639/pdf">says</a> that “no person, within a 100-foot radius of any entrance door to a healthcare facility, shall knowingly approach within eight feet of another person for the purpose of passing a leaflet or handbill to, displaying a sign to, or engaging in oral protest, education or counseling with such other person in the public right-of-way unless such other person consents.”
The suit says that this stipulation substantially burdens speech and does not serve a compelling government interest.
“This ordinance does not protect anyone,” said Thomas More Society head of litigation Peter Breen. “It makes it a crime to stand on a public sidewalk and offer a woman a choice. The government cannot wall off the public square so that women never hear they have alternatives to abortion.”
