Amidst pro-life infighting over Donald Trump’s stance on abortion, one woman facing prison time for her anti-abortion activism is urging her fellow pro-lifers to back the former president. 
Eva Edl, an 89-year-old survivor of a communist concentration camp who was recently found guilty of charges related to praying outside of an abortion clinic, said that denouncing Trump over his views on abortion is not the best way forward for the movement.
“I do not think that pro-life groups should denounce Trump, but they should rather try to educate him on the value of human life,” Edl told The Daily Wire on Wednesday. 
“How can we expect Trump to know this truth when most pastors have not taught this biblical fact to their own congregation, and were silent throughout the years while pro-abortion voices devalued human life?” she said. “He needs to know that God created human life in His own image.” 
Edl is one of many pro-life activists recently found guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for peacefully praying outside an abortion clinic. She survived a World War II-era death camp before escaping to the United States, and has since devoted her life to protecting unborn babies.
Her Wednesday remarks refer to controversy over Trump’s stance on pro-life laws, such as Florida’s law <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-he-will-vote-no-on-radical-florida-pro-abortion-initiative">protecting unborn babies</a> once they have a detectable heartbeat, which Trump has criticized as too strict. While Trump has a strong pro-life record — his Supreme Court nominees helped overturn Roe v. Wade, and he is staunchly against late term abortions — he has repeatedly said as of late that abortion laws should be left up to the states. He also pledged last week to be &#8220;great for women and their reproductive rights,&#8221; comments that prompted some activists to suggest that pro-life voters should not support Trump in November.
Edl says she has &#8220;some dear friends who feel it would violate their conscience to vote for Trump,&#8221; and said they will &#8220;abstain from voting altogether.&#8221; But she says her &#8220;conscience&#8221; wouldn&#8217;t allow her to do the same.
“It seems to me that we are one election away from communist rule in our country,” she reflected. “We are given only two choices: two candidates in the Communist Democrat Party or two candidates in the compromised Republican Party.”
“I believe that, if I do not vote, I actually end up voting for the communist Democrat Party by default,” Edl continued. “This would trouble my conscience greatly.” 
“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil,” Edl said, quoting a line often attributed to German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed for his opposition to Adolf Hitler. “God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
Under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Justice Department has utilized the FACE Act to targe pro-life activists for trying to stop abortions from taking place.
The FACE Act <a href="https://www.justice.gov/crt/protecting-patients-and-health-care-providers">prohibits</a> use of force, obstruction, or property damage intended to interfere with “reproductive health care services.” The law theoretically protects houses of worship and pro-life pregnancy resource centers, but the Biden-Harris Justice Department has overwhelmingly used it to prosecute pro-life activists like Edl. 
The president’s Republican critics, among them Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and Texas Rep. Chip Roy, have accused the Biden-Harris administration and its Justice Department of weaponizing the FACE Act, particularly given the hundreds of pro-abortion attacks on pregnancy centers and Catholic churches since the May 2022 leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion showing Roe v. Wade would soon be overturned. 
Justice Department <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/08/19/exclusive-congressman-calls-fbi-directors-bluff-demands-evidence-investigations-pro-abortion-violence/">data obtained by Roy</a> shows that the department&#8217;s Civil Rights Division has charged 24 FACE cases against 55 defendants since January 2021. Only two of those 24 cases originated from attacks on pregnancy resource centers — though FBI Director Christopher Wray claimed to Congress on July 24 that the FBI has focused more attention on pro-abortion violence against pro-life facilities. 
“This data is particularly troubling in light of the fact that there have been at least 90 individual cases of attacks on pro-life organizations and pregnancy resource centers since the May 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case,” Roy wrote in an August 19 letter to the FBI. 
Edl was accused by the Biden administration in February 2023 of conspiring to deny women seeking abortions of their constitutional rights. She was one of several participants in peaceful protests at two Michigan abortion facilities in 2020 and 2021. 
Her co-defendants also charged in the conspiracy are Cal and Eva Zastrow, Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Joel Curry, and Justin Phillips. The conspiracy charge could land each of them in federal prison for up to 10.5 years and saddle them with hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
The charges stem from a peaceful demonstration where the group sat and stood outside of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling, Michigan alongside a group of other pro-life activists. Edl and Idoni face an additional charge for a pro-life protest the two of them attended at the Women’s Health Clinic in Saginaw, Michigan. 
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/god-wins-in-the-end-89-year-old-pro-life-activist-speaks-out-ahead-of-high-stakes-trial">Asked by The Daily Wire</a> in early August how she was feeling about her upcoming trial, Edl emphasized her trust in God. She also pointed to the cross necklace she had around her neck, the same necklace she wore when the forces of Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito rounded up her family because they belonged to the Danube Swabians ethnic group.
“It doesn’t matter how it turns out, God wins in the end,” she said.

When I was 22-years-old, I packed up my life in Poland and moved to the United States to pursue my dreams by attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I didn’t know exactly what my future would hold, but I knew music would be a big part of it. 
Little did I know that my future would also include a sweet baby boy and an encounter with a pregnancy resource center that would change my life for the better.
I found out I was expecting a baby during my last semester at Berklee. Even though we decided to start a family, the father of the child was sometimes silent and would become distant. Then, he would come back into the picture again. I started to experience many serious issues in my relationship with the father of my baby, so I ended up in need of support from family and friends. 
Finally, I decided we shouldn’t be together, but I didn’t realize the consequences of refusing to be with my baby’s father would be so huge and would have so much impact on my financial situation.
Thankfully, when I was seven months pregnant, a friend connected me with Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices (BCPC), a pregnancy resource center that provides free resources and support for pregnant women in need. At the time, I was living in Woburn, MA, with an electric scooter as my only form of transportation. My job helped make ends meet, but I couldn’t afford a car. In order to get to the center, I had to take a train, a bus, and then the subway. While it was a long journey, I was determined to find support for my baby and me.
I was exhausted when I finally walked through the center doors, but the warmth from the BCPC staff energized me and made me hopeful for the months ahead.
BCPC explained the three options available to pregnant women. Despite always having my mind made up to raise my child with or without the father, it was helpful to understand all the options and resources that were available.
Unbeknownst to me, while I was visiting the center, a local pastor decided to donate a car to BCPC and was looking for a deserving candidate. Both the center and the pastor agreed that I would be the perfect recipient.
For me, receiving that car was life changing. It allowed me to go where I wanted and do what I needed in order to better provide for myself and my child. For the first time, I did not have to depend on anyone else for reliable transportation. While it may have just been a car to others, it was a whole new world of freedom and endless possibilities for me.
A few months later, I gave birth to my beautiful son Nathaniel and continued to receive support from BCPC. The staff regularly visited us and provided everything that a new mother would need. I received a new rocking chair, diapers, wipes, clothes and various other baby supplies at no cost. The donated car continued to help with my transition to motherhood by allowing me to drive Nathaniel to doctor appointments and daycare.
The women at the center did not owe me anything, but out of the kindness of their hearts, they gave my child and me unconditional love and support. No matter what challenges I experienced, BCPC was there for Nathaniel and me. BCPC’s support gave me the confidence, knowledge, and freedom to make my own decisions for both me and my child.
Nathaniel is now almost a year old, and we have since moved to Nashville so I could pursue my dream of being a songwriter — something that never would have happened without my own car and the generosity of BCPC.
My life is currently full of music, just as I had planned. But it now has the added bonus of also including a beautiful baby boy and a group of supportive women at BCPC who are like family to me.
I am grateful that centers like BCPC exist, and I believe that our government officials should put more effort into making society aware of the existence of these centers and how much they can help people like me and other mothers.

When I fled civil unrest and violence in Mexico City for the United States as a young girl, I had no idea that I would eventually become sucked into another violent regime: the U.S. abortion industry.
Unfortunately, the 17 years I spent working as an employee of Planned Parenthood opened my eyes to unspeakable horrors inflicted on babies and moms that Democrat politicians like Kamala Harris facilitate. Today, as Vice President Kamala Harris seeks to win the White House, I hope my story serves as a warning that Harris’ laundry list of incompetency and injustice against immigrants and women make her unfit to lead our nation.
Planned Parenthood hired me back in 2000, I believe in large part because I was undocumented, which made me a useful envoy to the immigrant community. Over the next 17 years, the organization groomed me into one of their leading employees. Yet as I was showered with bonuses, titles and even Planned Parenthood’s 2016 “Employee of the Year,” I began uncovering the truth about the coercion and exploitation the organization relied upon as part of its business model. I saw that, contrary to their claim that abortion was <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/fact-sheet-planned-parenthoods-2021-22-annual-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">only a minuscule part</a> of their services, the abortion clinic I worked in raked in about $20,000 per day compared to their non-abortive clinic which made barely a few hundred.
Among the many problems I saw go unreported, one doctor in particular had countless <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona/2019/08/19/ex-planned-parenthood-employee-mayra-rodriguez-awarded-3-m-jury-wrongful-termination/2051782001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">health and safety violations</a> that went unchecked.
Even worse, I heard reports of women and girls being <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/jul/25/women-pushed-into-abortions-offer-grim-accounts-of/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">coerced into unwanted abortions. </a> One horrific example that I learned of years later involved a young immigrant named Mayela. This poor young girl underwent <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/jul/25/women-pushed-into-abortions-offer-grim-accounts-of/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a late-term abortion in Arizona</a> without her knowledge or consent, after Planned Parenthood staff charged her $200 and asked her to sign paperwork she didn&#8217;t understand – all without a translator.
This, coupled with my growing realization of how the abortion and <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/online-mail-order-chemical-abortion-a-threat-to-abuse-and-trafficking-victims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trafficking</a> industries thrive off one another, deeply shocked me. 
Yet, when I began to voice concerns over these problems, Planned Parenthood threatened, harassed, and ultimately fired me.
So, I made U.S. history as the first undocumented worker to <a href="https://rnha.org/interview-with-mayra-rodriguez/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">file a wrongful termination</a> lawsuit. A predominantly pro-choice jury unanimously awarded me <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona/2019/08/19/ex-planned-parenthood-employee-mayra-rodriguez-awarded-3-m-jury-wrongful-termination/2051782001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$3 million in damages </a>against Planned Parenthood. Sadly, the abortionist at the center of my lawsuit continues practicing at the expense of women and girls today.
You’d think that Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President and presidential hopeful, would be appalled to hear these damning revelations – especially since she has centered her campaign around women’s “rights” and “choice.”
But <a href="https://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/pressroom/planned-parenthood-action-fund-endorses-kamala-harris-for-president" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Planned Parenthood donates</a> heavily to Harris’ political campaigns, which explains why she consistently chooses the abortion industry over the women she claims to champion. In fact, during her time as Attorney General of California, Harris collaborated with Planned Parenthood and the DOJ to silence, discredit, and destroy another Planned Parenthood <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/08/07/exclusive-kamala-harris-sent-agents-raid-pro-life-journalists-home-met-planned-parenthood-emails-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whistleblower.</a>
In light of this, it’s safe to say that Kamala Harris wouldn’t have even let me file my lawsuit if I’d tried to file in her state of California instead of Arizona. 
Harris’ close relationship with Planned Parenthood is a massive warning sign to all vulnerable and immigrant women – especially because immigrant and low-income women are disproportionately affected by human trafficking, crime and the exploitative abortion industry.
Harris’ refusal to acknowledge or address the border crisis has allowed historic numbers of immigrants to flood states like Arizona with deadly illegal drugs, crime, and human trafficking, the very conditions from which many migrants have fled. Moreover, her track record of disastrous policies put women at risk. In one egregious instance, an illegal immigrant released by one of Harris’ <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/victim-brutal-2008-illegal-migrant-attack-speaks-out-about-harris-record-prosecutor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“crime prevention”</a> programs in California attacked a young woman and fractured her skull.
Instead of addressing these pressing issues, Harris has made promoting abortion the center of her campaign. She has devoted precious resources to attacking pregnancy resource centers that provide free resources, education and support to vulnerable (and often immigrant) women in need – merely because these organizations do not offer abortion. She also has backed radical and deceptive pro-abortion state ballot initiatives like the one being pushed here in Arizona. Similar amendments in states like <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/state-officials-are-right-sound-alarm-pro-abortion-ballot-measures-opinion-1867851" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michigan</a> and Ohio have already been promising for the child trafficking industry, as they open the door for legislators to nullify parental consent requirements for minors to get abortions. I fear the same could happen here in Arizona if the Harris-backed Amendment passes.
Women deserve so much better than Harris’ hellscape of crime, trafficking, and coercive abortions at the hands of dangerous immigrants and an exploitative abortion industry.
As an immigrant woman who escaped Planned Parenthood’s clutches and became a legal citizen in this wonderful country, I hope my testimony serves as a warning to all women: We can’t afford to let Planned Parenthood’s bought and paid for henchwoman destroy the America we love.

The following is an edited transcript of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/podcasts/morning-wire/mobilizing-the-faith-vote-ralph-reed-s-62-million-strategy-8-25-24" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Morning Wire interview</a> between Daily Wire Culture Reporter Megan Basham and Ralph Reed, founder and chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition. They discuss the presidential race and how the Trump and Harris campaigns are trying to win over Christian voters.
The faith vote has always been especially crucial to the GOP. In recent elections, however, Democrats have been putting more effort into expanding beyond black churches and making a pitch to other Christian voting blocs, particularly evangelicals. This cycle has seen the rise of &#8220;Evangelicals for Harris,&#8221; a group that counts Billy Graham’s granddaughter and the chairman of Christianity Today’s board among its members.

MEGAN: Well, thank you so much for joining us Mr. Reed. To start, I saw that Faith and Freedom is planning to spend $62 million to turn out the evangelical vote this year. What specifics can you give us about that effort?
REED: Well, it is the most comprehensive and ambitious ground game program directed at voters of faith in modern American political history. We will knock on 10 million doors of homes that have between 17 and 18 million modeled evangelical Christians and other social conservatives registered to vote in those homes. That&#8217;s about half of all the homes that the entire Republican Party Vote knocked on in 2022. There&#8217;s never been an organization outside the Republican Party on the right that has visited this many voters at their door, engaging in face-to-face conversations. We&#8217;re also making 10 million Get Out The Vote calls with volunteers using an app where they can pick a battleground state and call voters in that state. And we&#8217;re also sending 24 million Get Out The Vote texts, and we&#8217;re focused on low propensity voters who have voted in one or less of the last three elections. We have 6,000 volunteers and about 4,000 paid staff engaging in this effort. We&#8217;re also distributing voter guides in 113,000 churches, and we&#8217;re doing voter registration drives in about 25,000 churches. So it&#8217;s a massive, massive effort, and I think this effort alone, by itself, is enough to make up the margin that we saw in 2020 where in Wisconsin the votes separating Biden and Trump were only 20,000, in Arizona 10,000, and in Georgia 11,700. I&#8217;m confident we can make up those margins and more just with this project alone.
MEGAN: Well, you know, you have to say that the Left seems to be recognizing the importance of that evangelical vote in a way that they maybe didn&#8217;t in the past. And we&#8217;ve seen efforts in recent weeks to brand Kamala Harris as a woman of strong Christian faith. Christianity Today ran a story about how she inspires black faith leaders. We&#8217;re also seeing a lot of legacy media outlets stressing Tim Walz&#8217;s Lutheran identity. So do you think this branding is working?
REED: No, because I think it misapprehends the faith vote. The media and many on the Left think that evangelical Christians and faithful Roman Catholics are driven by identity politics. They think that if a candidate says they&#8217;ve been born again, that they&#8217;re going to vote for them, or that they have a deep and abiding faith that they&#8217;re going to vote for them. We have so many examples of that not being true that I don&#8217;t know why they still think it. These voters are driven by issues and by policy and this is the most pro-abortion ticket in U.S. history, in Harris and Walz. It&#8217;s the most anti-Israel ticket in American history. It&#8217;s the most anti-religious freedom ticket in American history and Harris and Walz are on record supporting a scheme that would pack the Supreme Court and force the premature and unconstitutional retirements of three of the most conservative justices on the Supreme Court, including Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. They would replace them with justices to the left of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. So, you know, those are the issues that burn in the hearts and give meaning to the souls of these voters, not whether or not you go to the same church they do or you can quote Scripture. And there&#8217;s no better example of that than Donald Trump — he had been married multiple times; he had been tabloid fodder for decades; he owned casinos in New Jersey and elsewhere. He was not somebody who had lived a perfect life, but he was pro-life, he was pro-Israel, he was pro-religious freedom. And he said he would appoint conservatives to the federal courts, including the Supreme Court, and he did so. He kept those promises and I assure you, there is a deep reservoir of appreciation and gratitude to Donald Trump in the faith community because of the promises he made and the promises he kept and the promise of a second Trump administration.
MEGAN:  Well, I&#8217;d like to sort of turn the camera a little bit, but stay on this topic. We are now seeing a group called “Evangelicals for Harris” that was just established. And it&#8217;s not just fringe. Their first event includes the Chairman of the Board of Christianity Today as a speaker. We&#8217;re also seeing that Redeemer Presbyterian, the high profile Church founded by the late Tim Keller, is hosting a symposium on faith and politics that is exclusively featuring Harris supporters, including David French of The New York Times. What would you say to these churches and organizations about how they are living out their faith in the public sphere.
REED: Well, there&#8217;s nothing new about where Christianity Today is. Remember, they editorialized for the impeachment and removal from office of Donald Trump when he was previously president. They&#8217;ve been way beyond Never-Trump for a long time, and there&#8217;s nothing new about that. And you know Franklin Graham, the you know the the son of Billy Graham and heir to his ministry — Billy Graham, of course, was involved in the founding of Christianity today — has pretty much said that his father would be embarrassed if he were still alive by what&#8217;s happened to what he helped found. I think there&#8217;s some of that out there. Look, it&#8217;s a free country, and to be clear 15% of the evangelical vote is about six or seven million votes. It&#8217;s a lot of people, but it&#8217;s still only 15% of the evangelical community, and they&#8217;re a distinct minority. It&#8217;s a free country. They&#8217;re free to share their view, but I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s going to work to advocate the election of people who are for abortion up to and in some cases, including infanticide and who advocate rolling back a conservative majority on the Supreme Court that, for the first time in a half a century, has given Christians the right to express their faith in the public square free from discrimination and persecution. In the Coach Kennedy case, where there was a coach in [Washington state] who would pray with athletes after games at mid-field, it was totally voluntary. He was disciplined by his school, that case went all the way to the Supreme Court. The court not only ruled in favor of Coach Kennedy and those athletes&#8217; right to pray, but they overturned the so-called Lemon Test, based on a Supreme Court decision from 1971 called Lemon v. Kurtzman that, in its application, greatly prescribed and restricted religious speech in the public square. And finally, these voters, these believers, are as pro-Israel as any Americans since the founding of our country, over 225 years ago, and they believe strongly in the right of Israel to not only defend itself, but to have the backing of the United States as its stronger, strongest allies. And to have Kamala Harris out there trying to muscle and browbeat Israel into a ceasefire agreement that would allow Hamas and other Iranian military proxies to threaten Israel&#8217;s right to exist is not going to be supported by voters of faith. These are core moral issues for them. They&#8217;re not political issues, they&#8217;re moral issues. They&#8217;re issues of right and wrong, and they see Harris and walls as anti-Israel, anti-life, anti-family, anti-traditional values and anti-religious freedom. And correctly so.

MEGAN:  I think that&#8217;s what I&#8217;m getting at when you say that these are moral issues, that previously, in 2016 in 2020, the argument you saw from some of these folks was that they were morally opposed to Donald Trump, therefore we are going to sit out or vote third party. But now they are openly supporting Kamala Harris. Do you feel like fig leafs have kind of fallen this election?
REED: I may want to stay away from the fig leaf analogy. I don&#8217;t want to make this personal. I really don&#8217;t even know David French, I&#8217;ve read his stuff on occasion, he seems like a person of integrity. Seems like a fair minded and serious believer, even though I don&#8217;t agree with him politically, but to take the position that he&#8217;s now taking — that he has publicly taken in an Op/Ed in the New York Times — that he&#8217;s now not just not voting or voting for a third party or writing somebody&#8217;s name in, but he&#8217;s voting for Kamala Harris. And I think that for believers to do any of those three things, vote third party, stay home, or in the worst case scenario to vote for Harris and Walz is to be complicit in the immoral and unethical and indefensible policies that they would advance. They&#8217;re always talking about how we&#8217;re trying to protect constitutional norms — what more violates and assaults constitutional norms than trying to pack the Supreme Court? That&#8217;s been attempted one time in American history — technically more than one, you could talk about Adams and his 11th hour appointments of Federalist judges. There are a couple of other examples that we don&#8217;t need to get into, but the most extreme is Franklin Delano Roosevelt trying to expand the court in 1938. It was summarily rejected by the voters in those midterm elections. He withdrew the proposal. No one has dared to do it again until now. And that strikes at the very heart of our constitutional democracy, because it means that you&#8217;re okay with the Supreme Court interpreting and applying the constitution to the passage of laws unless they vote against you, and the minute they vote against you, you then want to pack the court and change all the decisions. And the irony of some of the Christian Never-Trumpers who are now coming out and saying they&#8217;re going to vote for Harris is one of the decisions that they&#8217;re trying to reverse is the decision that those folks, meaning the Christian Never-Trumpers, have devoted their entire careers to trying to overturn, which was Roe v. Wade — which other than Dred Scott, is probably the most morally indefensible and evil decision ever rendered by the Supreme Court. You could argue Plessy v. Ferguson, but there are very few of these. And so I think it&#8217;s a shame. Look, Donald Trump says and does things that I wish he wouldn&#8217;t say or do. But in the end, it&#8217;s not about whether or not the candidate&#8217;s personal style or personality, or even governing style is the one that I would prefer. It&#8217;s about policy and how it affects people. And if you implement a policy that will lead to the taking of innocent human lives, in many cases, after they the child can feel pain after they can survive outside the womb and in a handful of cases, not a lot, but enough to matter after they&#8217;ve been born, I don&#8217;t see how you can defend that morally or biblically. I certainly can&#8217;t, and I could never vote for Harris or Walz. 
MEGAN: So what do you say to the evangelical voter who may be feeling a little demoralized about the GOP position on abortion right now and what they see as, at best, maybe a softening of the language in the GOP platform. How do you argue that they should still turn out the vote for the GOP? 
REED: Well, I would encourage them to go back and actually read the Republican Party platform. By the way, Megan, I should be clear, it&#8217;s not the platform that I would have passed. It&#8217;s not the platform that I would have written but I can not only defend it, I can advance it on moral terms, because there are two things in that platform that most people may not even be aware of. The first is, it asserts that the unborn child is a person constitutionally and legally and therefore deserving of protection under the 14th Amendment&#8217;s clause that guarantees equal protection of all persons. The 14th Amendment was introduced and ratified after the Civil War to make sure that freed slaves were not discriminated against, that they were equal before the law. Obviously, that didn&#8217;t happen in one of the greatest tragedies of American history, but that was the aspiration and intent of the 14th Amendment. And that language, saying that an unborn child is a person for purposes of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, has been in the Republican Party platform since 1984. And remember that the 14th Amendment doesn&#8217;t just apply to the States, it also applies to the federal government. So when people say that when Donald Trump rewrote the platform at the convention in Milwaukee, he removed any role for the federal government, it&#8217;s just simply not true. So the 14th Amendment applies to the federal government. Secondly, the platform calls for the passage of bans on late term abortion, which is a term that is not defined, but which, for purposes of the pro-life movement, is generally defined as at least after 20 weeks, and as science advances, probably 15 weeks, and that language also clearly anticipates and includes action by the federal government. So I would say when you have one party that is calling for abortion at any stage of pregnancy for any reason, paid for with tax dollars, including under Medicaid, and the other party, saying that the unborn child is a person should be protected under the Constitution, it clearly is not today, and the child won&#8217;t be protected unless one or two things happens: Until either &#8220;A,&#8221; the Supreme Court rules if that language in the 14th Amendment does apply to the child; or until Congress passes a law that codifies that and then that is upheld by the court. So one of those two things has to happen. This is clearly an aspirational position, as it has been since 1984 but it is in there. Now, what is not in there, Megan is the human life amendment language. We had previously called for the passage of a human life amendment to the Constitution. I would say I still support that, okay, but I would simply make two points. Number one, in the 44 years that that has been in the Republican Party platform, no one has even brought to the floor for a vote a human life amendment of the constitution. So, I don&#8217;t think that you know that the fact that that isn&#8217;t in the platform means that we don&#8217;t have other tools at our disposal. The second point I would make is that the fact that we overturned Roe in the Dobbs decision, that was the main reason why we wanted a human life amendment. The purpose of the human life amendment was to overturn Roe. Roe has now been overturned. So while I still favor a human life amendment, I just want to set the facts straight on what the platform says. And I also think we should make it abundantly clear that the person running on that platform is Donald J. Trump, who is the most pro-life president in American history. He spoke at the March for Life. He defunded Planned Parenthood under regulations that he promulgated. He re-adopted and strengthened the Mexico City policy to ensure that U.S. tax dollars do not pay for abortions or promote abortion overseas. And most importantly, he appointed not one, not two, but three Supreme Court justices who were critical in the Dobbs decision. So I have no reservations at all about either the platform or this ticket.

A federal judge ruled Thursday that several <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York</a> crisis pregnancy centers could continue to speak freely about the abortion pill reversal protocol as state Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/letitia-james" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Letitia James</a> cracks down on pregnancy centers in the state. 
U.S. District Judge John Sinatra granted a preliminary injunction to the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, and the Options Care Center against James, who has sued pro-life pregnancy centers across the state over their promotion of the abortion pill reversal protocol. 
The protocol is a method <a href="https://lozierinstitute.org/abortion-pill-reversal-a-record-of-safety-and-efficacy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">backed</a> by pro-life organizations where a woman can take a prescribed dose of bioidentical progesterone to potentially reverse the effects of mifepristone and save an unborn child if she changes her mind at the last minute about going through with the abortion.
“The First Amendment protects Plaintiffs’ right to speak freely about [abortion pill reversal] protocol and, more specifically, to say that it is safe and effective for a pregnant woman to use in consultation with her doctor,” Sinatra <a href="https://adfmedialegalfiles.blob.core.windows.net/files/NIFLA-James-Ruling.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> in his ruling. “Indeed, the ‘very purpose of the First Amendment is to foreclose public authority from assuming a guardianship of the public mind through regulating the press, speech, and religion.’”
The pro-life groups, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-attorney-general-hit-with-another-lawsuit-over-her-targeting-of-pro-life-groups" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced a lawsuit</a> against James in May after she launched lawsuits against 11 pregnancy centers accusing them of false advertising.
“Women in New York have literally saved their babies from an in-progress chemical drug abortion because they had access to information through their local pregnancy centers about using safe and effective progesterone for abortion pill reversal,” said ADF lawyer Caleb Dalton. “But the attorney general tried to deny women the opportunity to even hear about this life-saving option.”

“Taking supplemental progesterone may give them a chance to save their baby’s life. Women should have the option to reconsider an abortion, and the pro-life pregnancy centers we represent in this case truthfully inform them about that choice,” he added. “The court was right to affirm the pregnancy centers’ freedom to tell interested women about this life-saving treatment option.”
Pregnancy centers around the country have come under fire from Democratic lawmakers and pro-abortion activists after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. According to CatholicVote, <a href="https://catholicvote.org/pregnancy-center-attack-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">there</a> have been at least 93 attacks on pregnancy centers and pro-life groups since a copy of the decision to overturn Roe leaked. 
Aid for Women, one such center based in Chicago, was vandalized after the closing of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, according to photos posted by Mary FioRito.  The photos showed red painted plastered on the door and spray paint saying “Fake Clinic” and “the dead babies are in Gaza.”

The vandalism was quickly condemned by pro-life leaders. 
“We are disheartened to see that just after a week of dark and shameless celebration of the tragedy of abortion at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, including offering free abortions via bus, a pregnancy care center nearby was violently attacked,” <a href="https://x.com/jeannemfl/status/1827047080885456932" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> March for Life President Jeanne Mancini.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/arkansas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arkansas</a> Supreme Court rejected a last ditch effort from a leftist group seeking to get an abortion amendment added to the November ballot that would roll back pro-life protections.
On Thursday, the court ruled 4-3 against a challenge from the pro-abortion Arkansans for Limited Government (AFLG) to Secretary of State John Thurston’s decision to reject their amendment liberalizing the state’s abortion laws from the ballot. Thurston rejected the ballot initiative last month, saying that the group failed to disclose who it had paid to gather 14,143 of the signatures it collected in support of ballot placement.
“This court is being asked to order another constitutional officer, the Arkansas Secretary of State, to ignore a mandatory statutory provision that he has enforced,” the majority wrote. “That is not the proper role of the court.”
“We find that the secretary correctly refused to count the signatures collected by paid canvassers because the sponsor failed to file the paid canvasser training certification,” the majority added.
The ballot <a href="https://ag-opinions.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2024-004.pdf">initiative</a> would have added exceptions to existing Arkansas abortion law for rape, incest, and fetal anomaly, as well as instituting a right to an abortion up to 18 weeks after conception. At <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/pregnancy-week-by-week/in-depth/fetal-development/art-20046151">18 weeks</a>, an unborn baby’s digestive system begins working and they can hear sounds.
Dissenting Justices Karen Baker and Courtney Rae Hudson <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/22/arkansas-supreme-court-blocks-abortion-measure-00175823" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> that Thurston had manufactured a reason to reject the proposed amendment.
“This requirement was made up out of whole cloth,” they wrote. “Regnat Populus — The People Rule — is the motto of Arkansas. Today’s decision strips every Arkansan of this power.”
Thurston said that his office was only following the law when it rejected the amendment.
“During the electoral process, my staff maintained the highest professional standards and did not allow partisan politics or misinformation to deter them from their duty to comply with the law,” he said in a <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/mid-south/arkansas-abortion-amendment-reaction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. “I am dedicated to my calling to serve Arkansans and will continue to do so.”

The court’s ruling was praised by GOP Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“Proud I helped build the first conservative Supreme Court majority in the history of Arkansas and today that court upheld the rule of law, and with it, the right to life,” she <a href="https://x.com/SarahHuckabee/status/1826675980246949938" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post on X.
Other red states like Florida and South Dakota will have abortion rights on the ballot in 2024, while abortion measures are pending in other conservative states like Missouri and Montana.

I have been saying for months that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/democratic-national-convention" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democratic National Convention</a> would be indistinguishable from a national abortion convention.
The abortion van providing free chemical abortion pills just outside the convention proved me right. But the van was no departure; it was true to style, both for the Democrat Party and for Planned Parenthood.
That’s why Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson was on the agenda on the third night, joining the chorus of those attempting to deceive the American public about how harmful Republican and Trump-led “abortion bans” have been.
Three women spoke from the convention stage on the opening night. I do not dismiss their tragic circumstances or deny that they deserve our compassionate help. In fact, I work to help such women every day all across the country.
But I do object to the way the Democrat Party tries to twist these narratives to draw totally unwarranted conclusions.

Amanda Zurawski spoke about nearly dying from pre-term labor, and the Texas ban on abortion.
The fact is, however, that after the Texas Supreme Court considered her case, the Court made it clear that the Texas ban on abortion permits abortion to save a mother’s life and health. In the <a href="https://reproductiverights.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Zurawski-v-Texas-SCOTX-Opinion.pdf">words of the Court:</a>
<blockquote>A physician who tells a patient, “Your life is threatened by a complication that has arisen during your pregnancy, and you may die, or there is a serious risk you will suffer substantial physical impairment unless an abortion is performed,” and in the same breath states “but the law won’t allow me to provide an abortion in these circumstances” is simply wrong in that legal assessment.</blockquote>
If there is a dispute here for Zurawski, it is with her doctor, who under Texas law only needs to exercise reasonable medical judgment that the mother needs the abortion. There is no need to go to court, to blame the law, or to make a political case out of a personal tragedy.
Then Kaitlyn Joshua spoke, ostensibly to expose the horrific evil of Louisiana’s abortion ban that allegedly threatened her life as she was miscarrying.
Again, the Louisiana law about abortion specifically allows abortion to treat miscarriage. The duty, again, is on the doctor to provide the diagnosis.
Finally, Hadley Duvall, who became famous in Kentucky for her political ads for Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear, spoke of how her stepfather raped her and although she had a miscarriage, she has become a spokeswoman for legal abortion.
Hadley’s story – and again, I do not deny its tragic circumstances &#8212; assumes that permitting an abortion to a rape victim helps the rape victim, completely ignoring the experiences of countless women that abortion itself is a trauma.
The last thing someone traumatized by rape needs is another trauma.
I serve as the pastoral director of the world’s largest organization for healing after abortion. My team and I help women who have been traumatized by abortion.
Hadley raises her voice, but so does <a href="https://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/testimonies/testimony.aspx?ID=4505" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Serena Dyksen</a>, who was sexually assaulted at 13 years old, and testifies publicly that “the abortion was worse than the rape.” <a href="https://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/testimonies/testimony.aspx?ID=4487" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sarahi</a> testifies to the same thing, as does <a href="https://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/testimonies/testimony.aspx?ID=4382" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Aryn Sylvester</a>.
And <a href="http://www.abortiontestimonies.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">we can go on and on</a>. 
For every story the Democrats want to highlight in their convention and in their ads, we can bring forth a hundred others talking about how harmful abortion is.
If you care about women’s health, you should be paying attention to what abortion does to women’s health, not simply preaching a dogma that abortion is, by definition, healthcare and freedom.
There’s another dimension to the Democrat dishonesty on display this week. 
By bringing to the stage women who experienced health complications and sexual assault, do they want us to believe that they are OK with just allowing abortion in those circumstances?
No, the Democrat Party opposes with all its might any law that would prohibit purely elective abortion. If they want to showcase their true policy goals, <a href="https://www.priestsforlife.org/latetermabortion/listen.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bring forward the abortionists</a> who are paid to kill healthy babies of healthy mothers in the final months of pregnancy, or the woman I ministered to who had 26 abortions.
The Democrat Party criticizes the laws in Texas and Louisiana, but doesn’t once mention that those laws also allocate substantial funds to help moms who want to have their babies, including in cases of adverse fetal conditions.
The Democratic Convention is an abortion convention, because the Democrat Party is an abortion party – and a dishonest one. If they are so proud of abortion, why not show on those big convention screens how the procedure is done? Or how about just reading a description from the medical textbooks, in which you’ll <a href="https://www.priestsforlife.org/isthiswhatyoumean/isthiswhatyoumean.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">find the words “dismember” and “decapitate?</a>”
Or how about just being honest enough to admit that the reason abortion is a deeply contentious issue is that two lives are involved? Even the Supreme Court has admitted this over the years, which is why it did not put abortion in the category of a “fundamental right.” 
But for the Democrat Party, it’s just one-sided. It’s a woman’s reproductive freedom that matters. No need to consider the rights of the baby. 
It’s easy to win a debate by just eliminating one whole side of the argument. That’s not a debate at all; it’s self-serving propaganda, and in this case, propaganda that has flesh and blood victims.

Norman Rockwell would roll over in his grave if he learned what passes for freedom in the Democratic Party, seen in the Presidential ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Rockwell painted four scenes <a href="https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian-institution/norman-rockwells-four-freedoms-brought-ideals-america-life-180968033/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in the midst of World War II</a> that captured the longing of the nation <a href="https://www.mfah.org/blogs/inside-mfah/norman-rockwells-four-freedoms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">for foundational freedoms</a>: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. However, Harris and Walz offer a dystopian view that empowers government, not ordinary citizens. Those freedoms are replaced with one, new category: <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/29/kamala-harris-abortion-restoring-roe-00171657" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“freedom” for unlimited abortion.</a>
Consider the violations of basic freedoms from both Harris and Walz, when in power.
On Freedom of Speech: Attorney Jonathan Turley <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/civil-rights/4820490-harris-walz-administration-free-speech/">notes</a>: “In her failed 2020 presidential bid, Harris <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/442261-harris-says-her-administration-would-hold-social-media-platforms/">ran on censorship</a>,” something he both <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/editorials/3115414/harris-walz-threat-to-first-amendment/">practiced and preached</a>. As California’s Attorney General, Harris didn’t support the rights of citizen journalist David Daleiden, exposing <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/02/us-news/kamala-harris-accused-of-weaponizing-calif-ags-office-against-activist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">her campaign donor, Planned Parenthood</a>, <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/08/us-news/undercover-video-allegedly-shows-planned-parenthood-scandal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">and used</a> the power of her office to raid his apartment, suppressing information about the alleged trafficking in human remains harvested from late-term abortions.
Immediately after taking office, the Biden-Harris Administration <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/wall-street-journal-hammers-supreme-court-giving-biden-administration-license-social-media-censorship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pressured</a> social media companies to block those who disagreed with their handling of the COVID pandemic, allegedly taking <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/09/08/biden-officials-likely-violated-first-amendment-over-covid-court/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">direct steps</a> against opponents. A recent lawsuit notes accusations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) engaged in <a href="https://aflegal.org/america-first-legal-lawsuit-exposes-the-fbi-implemented-extensive-nationwide-social-media-monitoring-ahead-of-the-2022-midterms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“extensive” monitoring</a> of citizens during the 2022 election season.
She’s found a kindred spirit in Walz, who <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2024/08/16/whos_for_the_first_amendment_--_and_whos_against_151458.html">told MSNBC in 2022, </a>&#8220;There&#8217;s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy.”
That’s not exactly his story in stump speeches. Recently Walz said the &#8220;golden rule&#8221; in America is to <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/08/07/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-and-governor-tim-walz-at-a-campaign-event-eau-clarie-wi/">“mind your own damn business.”</a> Yet, during COVID he set up a snitch line, so that neighbors could inform on neighbors who didn’t tow his line. Harris and Walz abuse of weaponized governmental agencies signals trouble ahead.
On Freedom of Worship: <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2020/09/22/catholic-abortion-vote-biden-trump-ruth-bader-ginsburg-2020-column/5853831002/">Harris was so offended</a> by a faithful Catholic up for a job as judge, that she said <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/kamala-harriss-anti-catholic-bigotry/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in a Senate hearing</a> that his involvement in a Catholic charity disqualified him to serve. Repeatedly, <a href="https://firstliberty.org/news/kamala-harris-supported-legislation-that-threatened-religious-freedom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she sponsored legislation</a> that gutted the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which protects people of faith from being forced to act against their conscience rights. As lead sponsor of the Do No Harm Act and the benignly named Equality Act, Harris targeted Americans with faith if they did not comply with her social engineering.
And consider her <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2022/05/11/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-after-the-senate-vote-on-the-womens-health-protection-act/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passion project</a>, the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) that goes radically far beyond Roe v. Wade.
In a letter to U.S. Representatives, the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops <a href="https://www.usccb.org/resources/WHPA%20opposition%20letter%20House%20and%20fact%20sheet%20July%202022%20clean.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>: “WHPA plainly seeks to force religious health professionals and religious hospitals to perform abortions against their beliefs. If it did not, there would be no reasons for the WHPA to specifically state that it overrides the longstanding, bipartisan … RFRA– something no bill passed by Congress has ever done.” And the measure blocks states’ rights as well.

When former President Donald Trump <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/08/15/opinion/economic-choice-in-election-is-stark-bigger-opportunity-or-a-bigger-state/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left office</a>, the inflation rate was 1.4%, but inflation during the Biden-Harris years topped out at 9.1% and <a href="https://x.com/ScottJenningsKY/status/1824614960737013763">isn’t in great shape today</a>.
While it’s reported that <a href="https://www.heritage.org/markets-and-finance/commentary/biden-pretends-rising-food-prices-are-not-problem">“average weekly paychecks”</a> are up 14.1% in the three years of the Biden-Harris Administration, prices have risen more than 19.3%. That’s an average, consider reporting that <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/how-started-how-going-inflation-down-june-prices-still" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rent is up 21.9% and food up 21.5%</a>, while energy costs up <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/12/us-news/electricity-costs-soar-under-biden-administrationenergy-prices-soar-under-biden-administration/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">are up almost 30%.</a>
Are we to believe that the candidate <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/republicans-attack-kamala-harris-jewelry-1935083" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly wearing a $62,000 necklace</a> to her political events has insight into the crippling cost of bread … and what she did to make it so expensive?
Freedom from Fear: Much has been written about <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2024-08-07%20The%20Consequences%20of%20the%20Biden-Harris%20Administration%27s%20Open-Borders%20Policies%20The%20Case%20of%20an%20Illegal%20Alien%20Gang%20Member%20Terrorizing%20New%20York%20City_Redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the rising crime rate</a>, ushered in by the Biden-Harris Administration’s <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/3124664/a-story-everyone-should-know-harris-biden-and-gianfranco-torres-navarro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open border policy</a>, with Kamala on deck as Border Czar. But as California’s Attorney General, her soft-on-crime policies left a tragic wake in her home state. Bizarrely, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2024/07/31/after-raising-bail-for-rioters-now-kamala-harris-claims-shes-tough-on-crime/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she promoted a fund to bail out Black Lives Matter rioters</a> in Walz’s home state, that “(a)mong those <a href="https://www.fox9.com/news/minnesota-nonprofit-with-35m-bails-out-those-accused-of-violent-crimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bailed out</a> was a convicted rapist facing charges of sexual assault and kidnapping.”
Meanwhile, Walz’s wife enjoyed the scent of burning tires, and Walz gloated while <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/i-watched-as-gov-tim-walz-let-my-home-state-of-minnesota-burn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his city burned around him</a>, sending forces into neighborhoods to frighten citizens indoors.
But in <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/12/politics/harris-arizona-abortion/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the name of “freedom</a>,” Harris flacks for the Planned Parenthood abortion business model.
This isn’t the <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/29/kamala-harris-abortion-restoring-roe-00171657" target="_blank" rel="noopener">soft freedom of “choice”</a> as that doesn’t go far enough for Harris’ who pledges to “restore reproductive freedom.” And it’s not what Roe and Doe together mutated into U.S. law – abortion without limit, for any reason, and sometimes paid for by taxpayers. She wants more.
<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/29/kamala-harris-abortion-restoring-roe-00171657" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Politico reports:</a> “”I don’t think there’s a real debate about whether we want to go beyond Roe,” said Mini Timmaraju, president and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All who has frequently campaigned for and with Harris.” Ironically, the organization, formerly the <a href="https://library.unh.edu/find/archives/collections/national-abortion-rights-action-league#:~:text=National%20Abortion%20Rights%20Action%20League,-National%20Abortion%20Rights" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National Abortion Rights Action League,</a> also hides abortion behind the fig leaf of “Freedom.”
A cold-hearted Harris-Walz Administration seems poised to ignore the basic freedoms enshrined in the Bill of Rights, with fealty to the one thing NOT in the U.S. Constitution – Abortion. Given their thuggish abuse of power when opposed, no one will be free who doesn’t agree with them.

Utah Senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mike-lee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Lee</a> (R) ripped into the Biden-Harris administration on Tuesday over the prosecution and conviction of 89-year-old pro-life activist Eva Edl.
Lee was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-89-year-old-woman-convicted-faces-over-a-decade-in-prison-for-peaceful-pro-life-protest" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reacting to the news</a> that Edl and six other pro-life activists were convicted in federal court in Detroit late Tuesday morning of charges brought against them by the Biden administration accusing them of conspiracy against rights and violating the FACE Act. They could now be sentenced to over a decade in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines upon sentencing.
Edl, a devout Christian, was rounded up as a child and forced into a concentration camp by the forces of Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito in the aftermath of World War II. She later immigrated to the United States and became very active in pro-life activism across the country.
“Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are sending an elderly survivor of communist prison camps back to prison using the FACE Act against pro-lifers,” Lee posted on X. “Evil.”

Lee has repeatedly pointed out the disproportionate use of the FACE Act against pro-lifers and has introduced legislation multiple times in the Senate to repeal the Clinton-era law.
Fellow Republican Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) has also pushed for the repeal of the FACE Act and reacted on Tuesday to the verdict out of Detroit.

The charges stemmed from a peaceful demonstration, which the defendants called a “Rescue,” where the group sat and stood outside of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan, alongside a group of other pro-life activists. Edl and Idoni were convicted on an additional charge for a pro-life protest they attended at the Women’s Health Clinic in Saginaw, Michigan.
Each of the defendants pointed to their faith in Jesus as what motivated them to go to Northland to try persuade women from getting abortions.
Concluding arguments were made on Monday before the case was handed to the jury, which started deliberating Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time. The jury, composed of seven women and five men, took around 3.5 hours to find them all guilty.
A sentencing date has not yet been set as the lawyers have an opportunity to make briefings to Judge Matthew Leitman, who oversaw the case, to dismiss it.

DETROIT—A group of Christian pro-life activists, including an 89-year-old survivor of a communist prison camp in Eastern Europe, face over a decade in prison after they were convicted on Tuesday in a federal trial in Michigan.
A jury found Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-life-father-facing-11-years-in-prison-says-biden-doj-is-targeting-conservative-christians" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joel Curry</a>, Justin Phillips, Cal Zastrow, his daughter Eva Zastrow, and 89-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/god-wins-in-the-end-89-year-old-pro-life-activist-speaks-out-ahead-of-high-stakes-trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eva Edl</a> guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the FACE Act. Edl was forced into a camp as a young child by Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito before fleeing to the United States. 
The seven were prosecuted by the Biden administration, which has been using the conspiracy against rights charge, originally designed for the Klu Klux Klan, to go after pro-life activists. They face over 10 years in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines upon sentencing. Sentencing is pending ongoing back-and-forth between the defendants and the Department of Justice as the judge considers several motions filed to dismiss the case.
About a dozen U.S. Marshalls were gathered in and around the courtroom as the verdict was read in front of family members and supporters of the defendants and Justice Department personnel.
Immediately after the verdict was handed down, Cal Zastrow said &#8220;Isn&#8217;t Jesus good? Let&#8217;s go to the sidewalk and sing.&#8221;
The charges stemmed from a peaceful demonstration, which the defendants called a “Rescue,” where the group sat and stood outside of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan, alongside a group of other pro-life activists. Edl and Idoni were convicted on an additional charge for a pro-life protest they attended at the Women’s Health Clinic in Saginaw, Michigan. 
The jury, composed of five men and seven women, began deliberating on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time at the Theodore Levin Federal Courthouse in Detroit. They deliberated for just around three and a half hours. The case was overseen by Judge Matthew Leitman, an Obama appointee. 
Throughout the trial, Edl said that it was her faith in Jesus and belief that suffering would strengthen her that kept her going. She said that going through trials was like the process of a blacksmith’s refining fire. 
“We need suffering in our lives in order to be purified and not feel sorry about ourselves,&#8221; she said, adding that Christians should say &#8220;Hammer away, Lord, at that anvil.&#8221;
The verdict comes after seven full days of arguments packed with tension and drama. 
On August 9, a woman named Sarah gave testimony about her interactions with the defendants at Northland after she and her husband arrived for an abortion appointment after being told their unborn son would not survive outside the womb. 
Sarah began to cry as soon as she walked into the courtroom and continued to cry throughout questioning from the government. At one point she was led out of the courtroom and she could be heard crying and wailing from the hall. 
Lawyers for the defense said that the Justice Department was exploiting her pain and trying to manipulate the jury during their closing arguments on Monday. 
Caroline Davis, one of the pro-lifers who was at Northland, was a key witness for the government. Her testimony took over a day, as she discussed her previous relationships with the defendants. She pled down her felony charge to a misdemeanor and has been a crucial witness for the Justice Department in multiple cases over similar protests, but has not yet been sentenced for Michigan. 
Throughout the trial, Leitman repeatedly clashed with David Peters, the lawyer for Phillips. On Monday, he tried to bring up the history behind the conspiracy against rights charge, which was passed in 1870 to deal with groups like the Klu Klux Klan, not peaceful protesters. 
The defense objected, and Leitman ordered the jury out of the room. He then criticized Peters for going “way over the line” and suggested he might hold him in contempt. 
Later, Leitman grew upset with Peters after the attorney invoked John Adams’ remark that the Constitution was made for a “moral and religious people.” Leitman said that he was setting the stage for jury nullification, where a member of the jury votes not to convict based on a moral objection to the law.
The prosecution for the Justice Department was led by U.S. Attorney Frances Carlson, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sunita Doddamani, and trial lawyer Laura-Kate Bernstein. They repeatedly said that the defendants were trying to force their Christianity on others, and that they violated a woman’s right to have an abortion. 
Lawyers for the defendants emphasized that their clients’ primary goal was to “save babies from slaughter,” not to intimidate anyone. They also pointed out the peaceful nature of the incident at Northland and how their actions were motivated by their Christian faith. 
This is the Biden administration’s latest attempt to sue pro-life activists using its novel interpretation of the “conspiracy against rights” statute. Previous groups have been found guilty of the charge in Tennessee and Washington, D.C. Some were sentenced to prison.

89-Year-Old Woman Convicted, Faces Over A Decade In Prison For Peaceful Pro-Life Protest

DETROIT—Two pro-life activists on trial for protesting a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/michigan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michigan</a> abortion facility back in 2020 spoke about their Christian faith Monday as the trial moved to closing arguments.
Chester Gallagher and Heather Idoni invoked their faith on the final day of argumentation for the trial of seven pro-life activists, which began on August 9. The seven, who were targeted by the Biden administration&#8217;s Justice Department, are on trial for allegations that they violated the FACE Act and engaged in a &#8220;conspiracy against rights.&#8221;
Both Gallagher and Idoni opted to represent themselves, meaning that they were able to present arguments in their own defense with help from lawyers standing by. Gallagher is being aided by Steve Crampton of the Thomas More Society. 
Idoni, who has been incarcerated for months over a conviction on similar charges, began by reading from Proverbs 24:10-12 which calls on Christians to “rescue those being led away to death.” She said that “my life has been very much formed by these verses,&#8221; adding that the group was motivated because &#8220;we love God and revere His word.”
Idoni, who has arrived in court handcuffed and with leg shackles on, denied accusations that the group had a “martyrdom complex,” saying that she did not have “any desire to go to jail.” 
Gallagher, a former police officer, talked about how the jury should pay attention to the group’s demeanor while at the Northland. 
He said that the case was about much more than “sincerely held religious beliefs” and that the “heart of the matter” was that there was a “creator that compels me to do what I do.” He said that he was there “to intervene” because of his love for Jesus and that he did not want to see “entire families” be destroyed by abortion.

They face over 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted.

During her remarks, Carlson said that the defendants “anointed themselves rescuers” and that the women they interacted with “did not need to be rescued.”  She said that they should be found guilty “even if the Holy Spirit” led them to be involved, and even though they were peaceful. 
Doddamani later echoed these comments when she said that being peaceful, being elderly, and having religious beliefs was not an excuse to break the law. 
Lawyers for the defendants emphasized that their clients&#8217; primary goal was to “save babies from slaughter,” not to intimidate anyone. 
During the closing arguments, a heated exchange broke out between Leitman and attorney David Peters, who is representing Phillips.
Peters began his argument by referencing parts of the Bible that show the humanity of the unborn before explaining the history of the &#8220;conspiracy against rights&#8221; statute, which was intended to stop hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, not peaceful protesters. The government objected, and Leitman ordered the jury out of the room. After the jury left, Leitman criticized Peters for going &#8220;way over the line,&#8221; saying his remarks were &#8220;more like a Sunday sermon than a closing argument.&#8221;

‘We Love God’: Pro-Life Activists Turn to Scripture As Trial Enters Closing Arguments

I have a confession to make: When I was a young adult, eligible to vote, I didn’t do it. For years, I did not vote and I am not even certain I was registered to vote.
If anyone had asked me then if I thought it was a good thing to vote, I would have said yes. But as the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. 
More importantly, the road to bad public policies is also paved with good intentions. We know there are tens of millions of good people who sit out every election, even the most consequential ones. 
I was one of those people and things only changed for me when I made a plan to vote. And now that I vote in every election, it is still imperative that I make a plan.
Making a plan to vote begins to move it from a good intention to an actual accomplishment. Moreover, making a plan minimizes the risk of missing your vote because of unforeseen circumstances, maximizes how well prepared you will be to make your choices confidently, and expands the degree to which you can mobilize other voters.
So here is a suggested 10-point “Plan to Vote” that I recommend to every voter:

<li>Check your Voter Registration at www.CheckYourVoterRegistration.com. Make sure all the details are correct and fix what has to be fixed.</li>
<li>Visit your state election website and find the information for your county and voting district. Verify your regular polling place.</li>
<li>On that same site, find out when early voting begins in your state and county, and the location where the polling place for you would be for early voting. (It may not be the same as your usual polling place.)</li>
<li>Mark your calendar to vote as soon as possible after early voting begins. Choose the day on which you will vote.</li>
<li>If circumstances require you to use an absentee ballot, find out from your state election website or your local board of elections when and how they are available, arrange to get yours, and decide what date you’re going to fill it out.</li>
<li>If you will vote in person, figure out what time of day you will go and how you will get there.</li>
<li>Have a Plan B in case something happens that day with sickness, weather, car trouble, mechanical problems at the polling place, etc. Decide in advance what alternate day you will be able to go vote.</li>
<li>Determine if there are others who can come with you.</li>
<li>Find your ballot in order to see exactly what it will look like. Study it carefully. Use your state election website, Ballotpedia.org, or iVoterGuide.com. Research each candidate and ballot initiative.</li>
<li>Find out from your state election website or your local board of elections how you can track your ballot once it is cast.</li>
</ol>
As the expression goes, every vote counts. But the reality is bigger: Every ballot counts. To ensure the safety of every ballot, also consider becoming a poll watcher or a poll worker.
A poll watcher is an election observer whose job is to monitor the elections without violating voter privacy. Poll watchers can be members of a political party, pollsters, candidate representatives or representatives of federal and state agencies.
Every state has its own laws about who can become a poll watcher, and how, so a good place to start is at the <a href="https://www.eac.gov/election-officials/poll-watchers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">United States Election Assistance Commission</a>.
Poll workers actually staff the polling places on and before Election Day. They set up and prepare the site, welcome voters, verify registrations and many other tasks. Head to <a href="https://www.eac.gov/help-america-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this page</a> at the United States Election Assistance Commission to find out how to apply in your state and county.

Some states are still conducting their primary elections, but voting in the 2024 General Election begins in just a few weeks, as North Carolina makes the early ballots available on Sept. 6. 
Think of Election Day as the first day of early voting in your state and plan accordingly. If a significant portion of voters decide to make a plan, we will end up with better turnout and with election victories at every level.
And that’s something worth planning for.
