Police in London arrested former British ambassador to the United States Peter Mandelson on Monday over accusations that he shared confidential information with deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Mandelson, who was Prime Minister Keir Starmer&#8217;s ambassador to the United States before he was fired in September 2025, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. 
“Officers have arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was arrested at an address in Camden on Monday, February 23 and has been taken to a London police station for interview,” a London police spokesman said. “This follows search warrants at two addresses in the Wiltshire and Camden areas.”
The arrest comes just days after British police <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-prince-andrew-arrested-over-epstein-files-faces-life-in-prison">arrested</a> former Prince Andrew in connection with his ties to Epstein. The disgraced ex-royal was also arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, a crime that could be punished with life in prison. He was accused of sharing confidential trade secrets with Epstein. 
Mandelson has said he regrets his relationship with Epstein, but denies any wrongdoing.
The arrests follow the release of emails by the Justice Department that shed further light on Epstein&#8217;s relationships with the powerful British political figures.
Previous documents <a href="https://d3i6fh83elv35t.cloudfront.net/static/2025/09/Request-No.-1.pdf">released</a> by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee appeared to document a close relationship between Mandelson and Epstein. The documents include a note where Mandelson referred to Epstein as his “best pal” and included a photo of him wearing a bathroom and talking with Epstein.

Mandelson also told Epstein, after his 2008 convictions for solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of a minor, that he stood with him. 
“I think the world of you and I feel hopeless and furious about what has happened,” Mandelson said. “I can still barely understand it. It just could not happen in Britain.”
The fallout from Mandelson’s ties to Epstein has rocked the British political world. Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chief-of-staff-falls-on-sword-as-party-turns-on-u-k-s-starmer-over-epstein-linked-appointee">resigned</a> after the release of the Epstein files by the Justice Department. McSweeney took responsibility for Starmer’s decision to install Mandelson as the U.K. Ambassador to the United States. 
Starmer has also faced calls to resign amid questions about his knowledge of the link between Mandelson and Epstein.

The British government is considering removing former Prince Andrew from the line of succession following his recent arrest.
The legislation would prevent Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from ever becoming king, the BBC reported.
Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles last year, but is still eighth in line to the throne. He would only be next in line following the deaths of Prince William, William’s three children, Prince Harry, and Harry’s two children.
Removing Mountbatten-Windsor from succession would be the “right thing to do,” Defence Minister Luke Pollard told the BBC.
The government would not take steps to remove Mountbatten-Windsor until after the police investigation concludes, Pollard said. He added that he hoped the move would “enjoy cross-party support.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has indicated support for such legislation, The Times <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/uk/royal-family/article/will-andrew-be-removed-from-line-of-succession-ksgdd3jhx?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqdNWa15Dk7Exka6IcXf8U20YrZrUc5VGCDfw81RF_a47qLSP6R9Y8Nw&amp;gaa_ts=6999e484&amp;gaa_sig=dX5zcawzbCxM4QsAaSTq_4CYPGVdFBY18JBbpurubugbk9GtepHlSMJ0iVJhVtB6rJeNOdGpzD8jnpZOkNZ-DA%3D%3D">reported</a>. Buckingham Palace has said it will not interfere should Parliament proceed.
Still, James Murray, chief secretary to the Treasury, told the BBC that “any questions in that sphere would be quite complicated.”
Thames Valley Police arrested Mountbatten-Windsor on his 66th birthday on Thursday, The Daily Wire previously reported. He was held on suspicion of misconduct in public office but released later that day, according to the BBC.
His was the first arrest of a member of the British royal family since Charles I was arrested almost 400 years ago.
Law enforcement said Mountbatten-Windsor was being investigated over concerns that he shared “confidential material,” reportedly including trade documents, with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Mountbatten-Windsor could face life in prison if convicted.
“Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said at the time.
The Metropolitan Police expanded the investigation Friday and is contacting all of Andrew’s former protection officers, The Times reported.
King Charles III called for a fair investigation into Mountbatten-Windsor.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” he said in a statement following Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest. “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.”
Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, who died by apparent suicide last year, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-prince-andrew-arrested-over-epstein-files-faces-life-in-prison">alleged</a> that Mountbatten-Windsor sexually abused her when she was 17. He previously <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-60667111">settled</a> a civil lawsuit brought by Giuffre in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing.
“He knows what he’s done and he can attest to that,” Giuffre said in 2019. “He knows exactly what he’s done and I hope he comes clean about it.”
Giuffre&#8217;s family welcomed the arrest.
&#8220;Today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty,&#8221; they said. &#8220;He was never a prince.&#8221;

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/live-updates-search-continues-for-nancy-guthrie-as-deadline-for-ransom-note-passes">insisted</a> that the case has not grown cold. One of the main leads law enforcement currently has is DNA found on a black glove believed to belong to the suspect. After testing, the DNA was not found to match anyone in CODIS, a database of DNA profiles. 
Meanwhile, the bounty for information in the case drew a significant donor. Michael Hupy, president of Milwaukee Crime Stoppers, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/high-stakes-money-move-enters-nancy-guthrie-kidnapping-mystery">sent</a> a $100,000 check through Crime Stoppers to 88-Crime in Tucson in hopes of generating new leads.

Within the next few years, Epstein became the subject of a federal investigation into child-sex trafficking and was ultimately arrested and jailed in New York City. The investigation dug into Epstein&#8217;s powerful connections, in addition to a previous sweetheart plea deal Epstein had secured in Florida in 2008 — which allowed him to plead to lesser state offenses and avoid federal sex trafficking charges.
According to a 2019 ruling, however, the plea deal was a violation of the Crime Victims&#8217; Rights Act because the victims were not informed when it was struck.
Epstein died that same year by suicide in a jail cell in New York City&#8217;s Metropolitan Correctional Center, but the investigation into his network and powerful connections continued. His longtime partner Ghislaine Maxwell was tried and convicted of sex trafficking.
Mountbatten-Windsor, in the years that followed, was stripped of his titles and royal duties. And on the morning of his 66th birthday — February 19, 2026 — he was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/former-prince-andrew-arrested-over-epstein-files-faces-life-in-prison">arrested</a> by British law enforcement officers who accused him of misconduct while serving in public office in connection with his ties to Epstein. British police arrested former Prince Andrew on Thursday in connection with his ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who turned 66 on the day of his arrest, was taken into custody by the Thames Valley Police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The disgraced former prince was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/prince-andrew-will-be-stripped-of-titles-moved-out-of-royal-residence-buckingham-palace">stripped</a> of his royal titles in October 2025 following revelations about his ties to Epstein. 
Police provided limited details about the arrest, citing British law, but said they were conducting searches at homes in Berkshire and Norfolk. According to the BBC, law enforcement said &#8220;it was assessing a complaint over the alleged sharing of confidential material&#8221; with Epstein. This confidential material <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/02/19/world-news/ex-prince-andrew-mountbatten-arrested-for-misconduct-in-public-office-over-his-links-to-jeffrey-epstein/">reportedly</a> included trade documents. Britain’s Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles, will be booted from the royal family’s mansion and stripped of his titles, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.
The palace said in a statement that King Charles has initiated the “formal process” to have Andrew cut from the royal family and his princely title removed. Andrew&#8217;s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also move out of the royal residence. Their daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will retain their royal titles, according to the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cnveqgj957dt?post=asset%3A97fd7fc9-3787-4ae7-b696-8224c94f9697">BBC</a>.
The remarkable move comes after a time of increased scrutiny on Andrew’s relationship with the late financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has been accused of sexually abusing one of the most prominent Epstein victims, Virginia Giuffre, who died earlier this year to suicide. Andrew has denied the allegations.
“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the statement from Buckingham Palace <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cnveqgj957dt?post=asset%3A97fd7fc9-3787-4ae7-b696-8224c94f9697#post">says</a>.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” it concludes.
Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, titled “Nobody’s Girl,” was published earlier this month. The book detailed Giuffre’s allegations against Andrew, going into graphic detail. In the book, Giuffre <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5ylepx85nxo">says</a> that she had sex with Andrew on three separate occasions, including during an alleged “orgy” on Epstein&#8217;s island that involved the late financier, the then-royal, and eight young girls including Giuffre.
Andrew will reportedly move to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, a privately-owned property that is paid for by the king. Ferguson will make her own arrangements to reside in a private residence, as well.
Andrew had previously given up some of his royal titles. Weeks ago, Andrew gave up his title as the Duke of York. At the same time, Ferguson gave up her title as the Duchess of York.
Despite losing his royal title, Andrew will remain eighth in line for the throne.

Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, ex-wife of the U.K.’s Prince Andrew, has been dropped from multiple charities after it was revealed that she sent an apologetic email to convicted sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.
Leaked emails show that the Duchess of York called Epstein a “steadfast, generous, and supreme friend” even after publicly distancing herself from him.
Epstein had pleaded guilty to two prostitution charges in 2008 and agreed to register as a sex offender. Ferguson gave an interview to The Evening Standard in 2011, stating that she would never speak to him again. However, weeks later, she reportedly sent an email to Epstein apologizing for her previous comments and insisting that he was still her friend. 
“I abhor pedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf,” Fergie said during the interview about accepting a $15,000 payment from the sex offender. “Whenever I can, I will repay the money and will have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein ever again.”
In her email to Epstein, she denied linking his name to pedophilia.
“As you know I did not, absolutely not, say the P (pedophile) word about you,” Fergie’s email reportedly said. &#8220;I know you feel hellaciously let down by me from what you were either told or read and I must humbly apologize to you and your heart for that.&#8221; 
At least five charities have severed ties with Fergie since The Sun <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/royals/15224768/sarah-ferguson-jeffrey-epstein-apology-email/">reported</a> the leaked email over the weekend.
“We were disturbed to read of Sarah, Duchess of York’s, correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein,” Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse, the founders of the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, said in a statement, per <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/23/uk/epstein-email-duchess-of-york-intl">CNN</a>.
“She was a patron but, in the light of the recent revelations, we have taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue to be associated with the charity.”
The Duchess of York was also dropped by the children’s hospice organization, Julia’s House. 
&#8220;Following the information shared this weekend on the Duchess of York&#8217;s correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia&#8217;s House has taken the decision that it would be inappropriate for her to continue as a patron of the charity,&#8221; a spokesperson <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/sarah-ferguson-dropped-multiple-charities-after-calling-jeffrey-epstein-generous-supreme-friend">told</a> Fox News Digital. &#8220;We have advised the Duchess of York of this decision and thank her for her past support.&#8221;
Other charities to cut ties include The British Heart Foundation and The Children’s Literacy Charity.
A representative for Ferguson blamed the email on threats she had allegedly received from Epstein after the interview with The Evening Standard.

“I have been taking some time to myself as I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, my second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. It was thanks to the great vigilance of my dermatologist that the melanoma was detected when it was,” she shared alongside a photo of herself smiling.

Next, the Duchess of York urged followers to be vigilant about getting checked for skin cancer, urging them to be &#8220;diligent&#8221; while observing changes to their skin.
“Naturally another cancer diagnosis has been a shock but I’m in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support,” the post continued. “I believe my experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, colour and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma and urge anyone who is reading this to be diligent.”
She went on to thank her doctors and family for their care and support. 
“I am incredibly thankful to the medical teams that have supported me through both of these experiences with cancer and to the MAYRLIFE Clinic for taking gentle care of me in the past weeks, allowing me time for recuperation. I am resting with family at home now, feeling blessed to have their love and support,” Ferguson concluded.
The royal family member previously thanked her two adult daughters, Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33, for staying by her side during her breast cancer battle last year.
“My two wonderful daughters are my wholehearted cheerleaders, my devoted champions and my soulmates, and they have been as supportive as can be, as they always are,” she told <a href="https://people.com/sarah-ferguson-calls-princess-beatrice-princess-eugenie-soulmates-amid-cancer-diagnosis-exclusive-interview-8386504">People</a> in November.

During the ceremony, Charles swore on a Bible the Accession Declaration Oath, a promise to maintain the Protestant claim to the throne.

There were roughly 8,000 people in attendance at the ceremony, which was attended by many world leaders with the notable absence of President Joe Biden though first lady Jill Biden was in attendance.

Royal fans are eagerly awaiting the coronation of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/prince-charles">King Charles III</a> on Saturday which will be the first British coronation of this century.

Now a whole generation of new citizens will experience the pomp and ceremony of a coronation, though many aspects of the ceremony will be different than the last one.
Due to the time difference, U.S.-based royal followers wishing to watch the ceremonies will need to tune in to livestreams or news sites beginning at Westminster Abbey starting at 11 a.m. BST, or 6 a.m. ET. 
More than 2,000 guests from around the world are expected to attend the coronation, per <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-where-watch-coronation-in-us-king-charles-live-time/">CBS News</a>. Royals from other nations, heads of state, and most of Charles’ family will be there. U.S. President Joe Biden is not attending.
Before the service, Charles and his wife, Camilla, will participate in the King&#8217;s Procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. They’ll greet crowds from the balcony at Buckingham Palace once the ceremony concludes.
King Charles cut back on the guest list, but the entire production will cost taxpayers an estimated £100 million, or the equivalent of $125 million, per <a href="https://time.com/6275383/king-charles-iii-coronation-cost-taxpayers/">Time</a>. This has caused backlash as the country is currently experiencing rising inflation.
Several big-name performers were invited to perform at the coronation, including Adele, Harry Styles, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, and the Spice Girls, but they all declined. The confirmed headliners are Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
Charles’ estranged son Prince Harry will be attending the coronation, but his wife, American actress Meghan Markle, will remain at home. The pair have become extremely controversial following their decision to step back as senior working royals and move to the United States permanently. The 62-year-old royal was apparently turned out by his older brother <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/prince-charles">Charles</a> following the death of their mother, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/queen-elizabeth">Queen Elizabeth II</a>. Andrew had already been stripped of his official duties in the wake of a scandal in 2019, but up until now had retained access to the palace. Now, reports say he’s been kicked out of the royal enclave, too.
The Duke of York made headlines several years ago following the revelation of his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew was also accused of engaging in sexual activities with a then-17-year-old girl named Virginia Giuffre. The royal settled a civil suit out of court.
Though he denied wrongdoing, Andrew resigned from public roles in May 2020. The former working royal also had his honorary military affiliations and royal charitable patronages stripped by Queen Elizabeth II in January 2022.
Prince Andrew’s eviction is notable, but Entertainment Tonight <a href="https://www.etonline.com/king-charles-iii-removes-prince-andrews-access-to-former-apartment-and-office-at-buckingham-palace">pointed out</a> that the royal had not been using the apartment as his primary residence for some time. Instead, he’s been living with ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson at the Royal Lodge at Windsor. For now, he still appears to have access to that property.
Queen Elizabeth was known for despising scandal and royal family drama. However, she always had a soft spot for Andrew, and royal insiders were surprised at how close the two remained even after the sex scandal plagued the British royal. 
&#8220;[The queen] saw Andrew very, very regularly right up until her death,&#8221; Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/queen-elizabeth-remained-incredibly-close-prince-andrew-right-until-death">told</a> Fox News Digital shortly after Elizabeth’s death in September 2022. &#8220;They remained incredibly close, and she was very protective of him.&#8221;
Nicholl went on to explain how she delved into claims that Andrew was the queen’s “favorite son” while researching for a book about the royals.

King Charles III <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/news/6982112/king-charles-throws-prince-andrew-out/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> evicted the disgraced Duke of York Prince Andrew from using an office at Buckingham Palace in the wake of his ties to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The 62-year-old Duke reportedly paid millions of dollars in an out-court settlement after Virginia Giuffre accused the Royal Family member of sexually abusing and raping her on three separate occasions in 2001 when she was 17.
Although Prince Andrew has denied any wrongdoing, the King has allegedly barred his sibling from working out of the Palace or using it as a corresponding address.
“Any presence at the palace is officially over,” a source told The Sun. “The King has made it clear. He isn’t a working royal. He’s on his own.”
The eviction comes after Queen Consort Camilla took over the Duke’s role as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards last week.
The Royal Household officials also stripped the Prince of his $3.5 million, 24-hour armed security last month after officials said they would no longer fund the service for the disgraced family member.
Former Home Office minister Norman Baker said last week that “armed protection has always been a status symbol for the likes of Prince Andrew.”
“Of course, he should pay it himself and not burden the taxpayer because he is a private individual and carries out no public duties,” Baker said, as <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11570663/King-Charles-finally-evicted-Prince-Andrew-Buckingham-Palace-Epstein-scandal.html">reported</a> by the Daily Mail.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/king-charles-iii-set-to-axe-prince-andrew-and-prince-harry-as-official-stand-ins-for-the-crown-report">reported</a> last month that the King could soon move to exclude Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, and Prince Harry from acting as official stand-ins if he should be “incapacitated.”
The Regency Act of 1937 allows a monarch’s spouse and the next four in line for the throne to be called up to act as “Councillors of State” — appearing on behalf of the King or Queen to conduct official business.
Buckingham Palace announced earlier this year that Prince Andrew’s military titles and royal patronages had been returned to the Queen after the royal failed in his last-ditch effort to have the civil case thrown out.
The Duke said in a statement at the time of the civil lawsuit that damaged his reputation he “regrets his association” with Epstein and had agreed to make a “substantial donation” to Giuffre’s charity.
Prince Andrew surprisingly joined his family for the Christmas service at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, Norfolk, after pictures surfaced of the Duke walking behind the senior-most royals, including his brother King Charles III and the queen consort, Camilla, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/prince-andrew-surprisingly-attends-christmas-service-king-charles-iii-prince-william">reported</a>.
