In a new documentary by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/author/prageru" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PragerU</a>, young adults who de-transitioned from radical sex-change treatments they received as minors discuss what they describe as the false promises and ultimately &#8220;tragic&#8221; consequences of so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care.&#8221; To promote the film, PragerU purchased a &#8220;takeover&#8221; ad on X as part of a $1 million marketing campaign on Thursday.
&#8220;DETRANS: The Dangers of Gender-Affirming Care&#8221; is a 21-minute documentary that focuses on two people who express deep regret for taking hormones and undergoing surgeries to reject their biological sex.
&#8220;There are so many young people who are going through very similar things that I did and are still being told that transitioning will save them,&#8221; Daisy Strongin says. &#8220;And it&#8217;s just not true. My story is tragic in some ways, but it&#8217;s very redemptive in many ways.&#8221;
Strongin&#8217;s story began when she was only a minor, battling severe depression and struggling with her self-worth. That&#8217;s when she turned to the internet, seeking answers and guidance in addressing her feelings of hopelessness.
She said after consuming gender transformation videos on her favorite websites like YouTube and Tumblr, she became &#8220;very, very interested in having a male persona.&#8221;
&#8220;The more time I spent online, the more it felt like real life,&#8221; she said. &#8220;And the more real it felt, which eventually led to me just totally transitioning.&#8221;
Strongin said she eventually changed her identity and began visiting a behavioral mental health clinic. After six days, she said the staff told her parents, &#8220;If you don&#8217;t validate him, then this is just gonna get worse.&#8221;
&#8220;When parents of trans-identified kids are referred to specialized gender clinics, they&#8217;re often told that they&#8217;re going to get comprehensive, multidisciplinary mental health assessments,&#8221; Leor Sapir, a transgenderism expert and fellow at the Manhattan Institute, says in the film. &#8220;We know that that&#8217;s not true in practice. These kids were put on a fast track to medical transition.&#8221;

Another such case featured in the documentary is that of Abel Garcia, who says that while browsing through YouTube in middle school one day, a video depicting a male transitioning to a female &#8220;planted a seed of doubt&#8221; in him that put him on the path to his own &#8220;transition.&#8221;
&#8220;I just wanted an answer to be given to me on who I was,&#8221; Garcia says. &#8220;And I went to see a therapist, and I had only asked, &#8216;I think I might be trans, I don&#8217;t know – I want to know.'&#8221;
Garcia says the therapist immediately told him during his first appointment that he was a &#8220;transgender woman.&#8221;
Conservative Attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who represents clients suing health care providers for performing &#8220;gender-affirming&#8221; surgery on minors, suggests that the spike in media depictions and social media depictions of transgenderism have led to the increase in minors transitioning.
&#8220;It&#8217;s even reached the mainstream advertising world,&#8221; says Dhillon. &#8220;And I think this is all coming to a head on what this really means for our society.&#8221;

PragerU officials appeared to have countered the advertising world on Thursday after the organization <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/prageru-buys-takeover-ad-x-part-1m-campaign-promote-polarizing-detrans-rcna123351">purchased</a> a &#8220;takeover&#8221; ad on X with its $1 million marketing campaign to promote the documentary.
Craig Strazzeri, chief marketing officer for PragerU, told the press that after watching the film, the organization hopes the audience would understand how &#8220;major regret&#8221; comes with young people who transition.
&#8220;We decided to pursue an X takeover because it&#8217;s a great opportunity for us to reach a massive audience on the dangers of gender affirming care given that X is one of the least censored social media platforms, thanks to Elon Musk,&#8221; Strazzeri said in a statement to NBC News. &#8220;This will give millions of people the opportunity to hear important stories from detransitioners themselves, many of whom have been censored and even ostracized because their lived experiences do not affirm the mainstream media&#8217;s narrative.&#8221;

The second volume of Prager University’s Master&#8217;s Program is coming to DailyWire+.
The series, hosted by Dennis Prager, founder of PragerU, offers a deep dive into several of the most pressing issues facing the United States, exploring central facets of the human condition.
The newest episode, ‘<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/episode-6-part-2-differences-between-the-left-and-the-right-part-ii" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Differences Between the Left and The Right, Part II</a>’, builds off of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/episode-5-differences-between-the-left-and-the-right-part-i" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Volume 1 finale</a> by discussing the rival positions that dominate our national discourse and the massive philosophical gap between them.
“You often hear ‘that which unites us is greater than that which divides us,’ which just isn’t true,” Prager said. “It might have been true 100 years ago, but it is not true today.”
While some people hold a mixture of conservative and progressive viewpoints, Prager argues that in our increasingly polarized society, more and more people have been drawn into incompatible ideological camps, which have coalesced around respect for tradition, individualism and local autonomy on the one hand and relativism, collectivism and centralized control on the other.
“Not every conservative holds every conservative position. Not everyone on the Left holds every left-wing position,” Prager notes, “but it applies to the great majority of people.”
<h2>The Place Of Religion And God In Society</h2>
Prager argues that the Left wants religion to be a totally private matter with no influence in the public square, but the Right wants a religious society that promotes shared values — specifically Judeo-Christian values — while having a secular government.
“That which society’s values rely upon is religion,” George Washington said in his farewell address.
Prager notes that while not all the Founding Fathers were Christians, they all acknowledged the importance of the biblical tradition to American culture.
“The role of the Bible in American life has no peer,” Prager said. “It was the central text, it was how you taught children values.”

<h2>The Worth Of The Human Fetus</h2>
Prager argues that on the contentious issue of abortion, the central issue is not even one of policy, but of basic reality — the Left and the Right cannot agree on whether or not a fetus in the womb is objectively a human being or if its personhood is arbitrary.
“On the Left… the human fetus has no intrinsic worth,” Prager says. “The mother determines 100% whether it is infinitely precious or worth nothing.”
Prager notes that if a gunman shoots an expecting mother and she loses the baby as a result, he can be charged with homicide, but if an abortionist kills the child at the mother’s request, it is often treated with all the moral significance of having a pimple popped — the fetus is only a person if the mother wants it to be.
Prager says that even by secular moral standards, that position makes no sense. The conservative position that the fetus is a human being and valuable in and of itself is an objective and consistent moral standard; while we may quibble over when in development a fetus becomes a person, whether or not terminating a pregnancy is murder is not a question that is subjective to individual whim.
<h2>American Exceptionalism</h2>
Prager says that the Left regards the idea that the United States is in some way special as misguided chauvinism at best, while the Right holds it as historical fact. For much of its history, the United States was the land of opportunity, and people around the world flocked to it to pursue their dreams and enjoy the freedom and prosperity that were unrivaled around the world.
“American exceptionalism is not a bragging right,” Prager said. “It is either true or not true.”
Furthermore, Prager argues that American Exceptionalism is not guaranteed, and that recently, the United States has become less free and less special — America’s national character was hard-won and must be safeguarded.

<h2>The Greatest Threat To The World</h2>
Prager notes that the Left often describes climate change as an ‘existential threat’ to human civilization, and one that justifies extreme measures to combat it. By contrast, while those on the Right generally accept that the planet is getting warmer, they don’t view it as a catastrophe, are skeptical of efforts to completely reshape the world economy, and view ‘green’ alternatives such as solar and wind as unreliable compared to fossil fuels or even nuclear power. The latter is especially telling because nuclear energy emits virtually no greenhouse gasses yet is typically overlooked or even scorned by environmental activists.
By contrast, the Right generally regards human evil as the supreme and ever present threat to mankind, and are skeptical of concentrating power in the hands of a ruling elite. They fear that those elites are corruptible and will leap from crisis to crisis in order to justify their continual use and abuse of power to the detriment of everyone around them.
<h2>Race</h2>
The Left believes that a person’s racial identity is of paramount importance, while conservatives believe that  individual character is paramount and that a person’s ancestry tells you nothing important about who they are.
“You know literally nothing about a person if you know their color,” Prager says, “so how can it be significant?”
In addition, Prager also analyzes differing attitudes towards guns, art, diversity, culture, morality, American history, justice, nationalism, and immigration, where the Left and Right hold similarly irreconcilable positions.
Episode 7, ‘Hurdles To Happiness’, which will be released on July 12th, explores the common obstacles people face to leading meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Episode 8, ‘Differences Between Men and Women’, which comes out on July 19th, explores the distinctions between the sexes and their complementary nature.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-police-group-blames-left-leaning-policies-for-deadly-crime-spikes-vilification-of-law-enforcement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crime rates across the U.S. have steadily risen since the start of the 2020s</a>, in stark contrast to the steady decline seen since the 1990s. Former federal prosecutor Tom Hogan sat down with PragerU to break down four policy changes that could rapidly reverse that trend.

“None of these solutions are theoretical: they’re street tested and backed by rigorous studies,” Hogan said. “They’re constitutional, and cost effective. While each one will reduce crime on its own, taken together, they can transform a city, not in decades, but within a year or two.”
Hogan first notes that violence follows predictable patterns — it usually takes place in a handful of “crime hot spots,” disproportionately on nights and weekends and during the summer. Furthermore, a very small share of offenders commit the majority of violent crimes.
“In any given city, just 5% of criminals are responsible for 50% of all violent crimes,” Hogan said. “I want to make this abundantly clear: it’s not 5% of the total population of the city … it’s 5% of the criminals.”
By focusing on these “hot spots” and getting a relative handful of serial offenders off the streets, police can have an outsized impact on violent crime.
Similarly, drug dealers and felons with illegally acquired firearms are valuable targets — not only are they career criminals themselves, but they’re also intimately connected to criminal networks that smuggle illicit goods across the country and have witnessed far more crimes than they have perpetrated. When faced with harsh sentences, they will often flip and provide valuable information on other cases in exchange for leniency.
Hogan also stresses the need for police and prosecutors to collaborate throughout the process to avoid legal slip ups or sloppy presentation of evidence. Hogan bemoans the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/george-soros-invested-40-million-to-help-elect-dozens-of-progressive-prosecutors-across-the-u-s-study" target="_blank" rel="noopener">current state of affairs</a>, where police departments and prosecutors are often at each other&#8217;s throats, arguing that poor cooperation only helps criminals.

Finally, Hogan stresses the need for longer sentencing, citing two studies by the <a href="https://www.ussc.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/research-and-publications/research-publications/2022/20220621_Recidivsm-SentLength.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.S. Sentencing Commission</a>, which found that sentences in excess of five years were correlated with lower rates of recidivism.
While the intuitive understanding that the threat of longer sentences disincentivize crime is applicable, Hogan also cites the <a href="https://nij.ojp.gov/media/image/2776" target="_blank" rel="noopener">age-crime curve</a>, a <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165176517300022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">widely</a> observed statistical phenomenon that shows that criminal aggression in males peaks in late adolescence.
“Most violent criminals commit the majority of their crimes from their late teens into their 20s,” Hogan noted.
This is the age range where testosterone levels are at their highest — testosterone is correlated with aggression and impulsive behavior. The prefrontal cortex, which handles complex reasoning and long term decision making, does not fully develop until around <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3621648/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">age 25</a>, which, coincidentally, is when the likelihood that a given male will violently offend begins to drop precipitously.
“Prison sentences of over five years simply take these violent criminals out of circulation when they’re at their most dangerous.”

“How many times does someone have to lie to you before you call them a liar?” podcaster and independent journalist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-pool">Tim Pool</a> asks in a recent PragerU video.
Pool goes through several prominent cases of mainstream media outlets misrepresenting major national news stories, and suggests that said organizations do not deserve the blanket trust that some Americans still give them.
He specifically cites the Michael Brown shooting in 2014, where media portrayed Brown as a ‘gentle giant’ who was shot by a racist police after pleading for his life with the famous — and fictitious — line “hands up, don’t shoot!”.
In reality, Brown had just robbed a convenience store and had violently assaulted officer Darren Wilson, punching him and reaching for his gun. A local grand jury and a federal probe by the Justice Department under the Obama administration found that Wilson had justifiably used lethal force in self defense.
“The whole story was manufactured by the media.” Pool observed. “It wasn’t the first time. It wouldn’t be the last.” 

Pool outlined other major scandals, such as the big tech suppression of Hunter Biden’s &#8220;laptop from hell&#8221; during the 2020 election, and the mainstream media’s insistence that it was &#8220;Russian disinformation.&#8221; In a similar vein, Pool zeroes in on the &#8220;Russia Hoax&#8221; that dominated the aftermath of the 2016 election.
“The biggest whopper of them all was the Russia Hoax, the entirely made up story that Donald Trump the candidate, then Donald Trump the President of the United States, was a Russian Agent. This dark fantasy preoccupied the legacy media for 3 years.”
Pool notes that most of the reporting on this issue was sourced from opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign that was totally baseless — the New York Times and the Washington Post would both win Pulitzer Prizes for that baseless reporting.
Pool advised listeners to seek out information from across the political spectrum, and to critically evaluate the motives and credibility of their sources.
“If someone or some news source lies over and over again, you may not want to trust them.”

Almost <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/MeasuresProposedToAmendTheConstitution.htm">12,000</a> amendments to the U.S. Constitution have been proposed since it first came into force in 1789, but only 27 have been ratified. John Yoo, Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, helps break them down in a new PragerU video.
Yoo described the first 10 as &#8220;the most famous amendments,&#8221; known as the Bill of Rights, ratified by the 1st Congress in 1791. These amendments restrain the federal government&#8217;s power and, among other things, guarantee freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, freedom from unwarranted search and seizures, and the right to a speedy and public trial.

Another batch of major constitutional reforms would come after the Civil War: the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments would be passed by a Republican-controlled Congress between 1865 and 1870 and are collectively known as the Reconstruction Amendments. The 13th Amendment formally abolished slavery, while the 14th Amendment extended citizenship to former slaves and all other people born on American soil and extended equal protection under the law to all people. The 15th Amendment gave former slaves the right to vote and made it unconstitutional to deny citizens the franchise “on account of race, color or previous condition of servitude.”
Beyond these generally accepted historical groupings, Yoo further subcategorized the others under three broad umbrellas: &#8220;Those that expanded the franchise, those that extended the federal government&#8217;s power, and those that fixed issues relating to the office of the presidency.&#8221;
Yoo groups the 17th, 19th, 23rd, 24th, and 26th Amendments together as expansions of the franchise. The 16th and 18th Amendments gave the federal government expansive new powers, and the 20th, 22nd, and 25th Amendments made various revisions to the election and removal of the president.
Apart from a handful of areas that have been subject to repeated revisions, much of the American Constitution remains in its original form.
“The Constitution has proven to be remarkably durable,” Yoo concluded. “Just as the framers intended.”

&#8220;The world faces a serious crisis: one that will ruin whole economies and lead to needless suffering and death. The crisis is related to climate change, but not in the way you&#8217;re probably thinking.&#8221;
Alex Epstein, author of &#8220;Fossil Future,&#8221; argues that a global energy shortage brought on by various climate policies is devastating the global economy. Fossil fuels currently provide 80% of the world&#8217;s energy, and the price of energy affects every other good in the supply chain, making rising fuel prices a major contributor to worldwide inflation, which is currently at record highs. In the United States, the average rate of year-over-year inflation was <a href="https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/">8%</a>, in the United Kingdom it was <a href="https://www.rateinflation.com/inflation-rate/uk-inflation-rate/">over 9%</a>, and in <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/06/15/in-the-u-s-and-around-the-world-inflation-is-high-and-getting-higher/">Turkey</a>, the rate of inflation reached a staggering 54.8% in 2022.
&#8220;A shortage of anything leads to higher prices,&#8221; Epstein explains. &#8220;That&#8217;s just basic economics.&#8221;
Many governments, especially in the West, have restricted the production and use of fossil fuels. Epstein argued that these policies will result in many preventable deaths &#8211; more people die from extreme cold than extreme heat, so that in the winter months even people in affluent countries freeze to death due to insufficient warmth. Higher energy costs mean higher heating costs, which could lead to thousands of preventable deaths.
Epstein observed that the economic impact of the fossil fuel shortage is disproportionately felt by poorer countries, who are outbid by wealthier nations for what supplies remain. Europe, for example, has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/european-households-must-cut-power-usage-this-winter-energy-agency-says">imposed widespread rationing of electricity</a> in the last year, but poorer nations in Southeast Asia such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-tens-of-millions-experience-major-blackout-in-pakistan">Pakistan</a> and <a href="https://www.france24.com/en/asia-pacific/20221004-most-of-bangladesh-plunged-into-darkness-after-national-grid-failure">Bangladesh</a> have experienced widespread blackouts during the same period.
The cost of fossil fuels has an especially profound effect on the price of food, as natural gas is a key component of many types of fertilizer and most farming equipment runs on diesel. Epstein cites a report from the World Farmers organization that states food prices are 78% higher than they were in 2021. In many parts of the developing world, farmers are currently unable to afford fertilizer, and even some who can afford it struggle to access limited supplies, putting many vulnerable populations at risk of malnutrition and starvation.
In Europe, energy shortages have become so severe that some firms in heavy industry have <a href="https://europe.autonews.com/suppliers/europes-auto-production-crashes-flow-wire-harnesses-dries">shut down</a>, and some may never reopen.

Government-induced shortages of fossil fuels and derivative products such as fertilizer were also major drivers of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sri-lankas-president-flees-the-country-amid-mass-uprising">recent revolution in Sri Lanka,</a> which saw desperate protestors storm the presidential palace and send several of their nation&#8217;s leaders into exile.

Why would Emmy-award-winning sportscaster Michele Tafoya walk away from her successful television career? PragerU presents Tafoya&#8217;s account in its latest &#8220;Stories of Us&#8221; <a href="https://www.prageru.com/video/michele-tafoya-my-freedom-to-speak-meant-more-than-my-job" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a>.
Tafoya discusses the highlights of working in the sports journalism industry, the struggle to start her family, and why she refuses to apologize for her values.
Raised in Manhattan Beach, California, as one of four children, Tafoya discussed the strong upbringing that taught her to value hard work and personal responsibility. She recalled watering the neighbor&#8217;s plants from the age of 11 and getting a paper route two years later.
After studying journalism in college, Tafoya found a gig on sports talk radio in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later landed a job with CBS Sports before joining ESPN. After working with the network&#8217;s NBA crew, she became a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football and later moved on to NBC.
The success did not come without adversity, as Tafoya revealed a series of miscarriages before giving birth to her son. Their family then adopted a daughter who needed open heart surgery.
As her family grew, so did her concerns about her freedom.
&#8220;Outside of that world, I was paying attention to politics, to policy, to where we stood on the world stage of history. I really started reading a lot of history. And there was a lot of perspective to be gained,&#8221; Tafoya said. &#8220;And I realized I wanted to preserve the freedom and the liberty in the beauty that is America, for my kids, for the future.&#8221;
Tafoya said she could no longer keep silent &#8220;the more divisive things&#8221; got and grew frustrated between 2016 and 2020. Despite her respect for Sunday Night Football and NBC, she knew she needed a change.
&#8220;I knew that if I said anything too controversial, it would reflect on those entities and I didn&#8217;t want to do that. So if I wanted to speak I had to leave,&#8221; she said. &#8220;My freedom to speak meant more to me than staying in that job.&#8221;
Tafoya considers herself one of the luckiest people in the world to do what she did, but she said there was something bigger in her future. She has since started her own <a href="https://salempodcastnetwork.com/podcasts/sideline-sanity-with-michele-tafoya?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=Michele-Tafoya&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA5sieBhBnEiwAR9oh2nS6HEaeWidLD1fGoyVBHd4iXGDGO2nc-W-OKq79QCm_yr4w1dRsqhoCy50QAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">podcast</a>, called &#8220;Sideline Sanity,&#8221; to use her voice to make a difference.

Many people can tell you about America&#8217;s problems, but who is talking about the nation&#8217;s future?
That&#8217;s the focus of the latest <a href="https://www.prageru.com/video/what-america-could-be" target="_blank" rel="noopener">5-Minute Video</a> from PragerU presented by Kendall Qualls, President of TakeCharge.
&#8220;I’m not making a prediction,&#8221; Qualls says. &#8220;But there is a new golden age waiting for us if we do just five things.&#8221;
The first area Qualls highlights is reconnecting with America&#8217;s Judeo-Christian roots. He challenges Americans to realize a new appreciation of traditional Judeo-Christian values in &#8220;a new awakening.&#8221;
Qualls argues that self-government only works if America is a moral country. This sense of morality was historically based on teachings found in the Bible.
The video quotes second President John Adams, crediting him for understanding the connection between the Constitution and morality.
“Our Constitution,” he wrote, “was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
The second area discussed is the control of children’s education.
&#8220;Moms and Dads demand to be informed about exactly what their children are learning. They don’t take no for an answer,&#8221; Qualls says.
He challenges more conservatives to join local school boards, as well as to encourage a variety of options that include private schools, charter schools, online schools, and homeschooling. He said that the goal must be to stop public schools from focusing on woke policies and return to proficiencies in reading, writing, and math.
The third area Qualls addresses is to laugh cancel culture out of existence.
&#8220;America regains its sense of humor. Hypersensitive reactions to perceived slights are no longer taken seriously. We’re able to tell a harmless joke without worrying about being hauled into the Human Resources Office,&#8221; he proposes.
The new freedom would take the pressure off the office and society, removing the influence of cancel culture&#8217;s elite.
The fourth area addressed in the proposal calls for the nation to become energy independent and secure its supply lines.
The nation has the potential to serve as the world&#8217;s top energy producer. Instead of depending on oil from other countries, the U.S. could and should be the leader producing enough to help its allies.
The fifth focus by Qualls is for marriage to become the cool (and smart) thing to do. He proposes a vision of young women who realize that a successful career is not a substitute for a good marriage and family. Likewise, men are called on to choose the responsibility to care for a wife and children.
&#8220;The studies turn out to be true: marriage leads to more financial success, more personal fulfillment, and a greater sense of purpose than living alone in pursuit of career goals,&#8221; he envisions.
The video doesn&#8217;t propose new laws or taxes, but instead focuses on values and acting upon them to create a better future for the nation. Qualls says that whether these five areas actually happen is up to you, challenging one American at a time to make a difference for the country&#8217;s future.

How did the 13 colonies become the United States of America? PragerU discusses the revolutionary role the Constitution played in uniting the colonies, and the relationship between the federal government and the states, in its latest video.
Host Kurt Lash, Professor of Law at the University of Richmond, examines America&#8217;s founding document, breaking down the powers of the three branches of the federal government and providing details of how states function.
&#8220;When America won the Revolutionary War, the former English colonies became free and independent states — almost as if they were separate countries,&#8221; Lash said in the new PragerU <a href="https://www.prageru.com/video/the-constitution-a-nation-of-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video</a> entitled &#8220;The Constitution: A Nation of States.&#8221;
&#8220;But when those states later voted to ratify the federal Constitution, they became part of an indestructible union of states under a common national government, one in which all citizens were granted the same rights,&#8221; he added.
The issue of states&#8217; rights was more complicated during the nation&#8217;s early history when slavery was legal in some states.
Section Two of Article IV declares that “[N]o Person held to … Labour in one State … escaping into another, shall … be discharged from such … Labour, but shall be delivered up [to] the Party to whom such … Labour may be due.”
Lash noted that the word “slave” was not found in the original Constitution. He said the Founding Fathers were wary about endorsing slavery even though southern states permitted it.
Article V explains how the Constitution can be amended. The process includes a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and the Senate or a special convention called by two-thirds of the states. A proposed amendment must then be ratified by three-quarters of the states.
Lash explained that the challenging process ensured that only proposals with widespread support would lead to the passage of a Constitutional amendment.
Article VI also declared that the Constitution is the “supreme Law of the Land,” giving it priority over other laws.
Before the Constitution was ratified in 1788, America was led by the Articles of Confederation. The loose agreement lacked a central leader or national court system. It could not tax citizens to provide for the nation&#8217;s defense during times of war.
The Constitution addressed these concerns but also left many powers to individual states. This division of power, known as federalism, had not previously existed in other nations.
Lash explained that Article VII provided the process for decisions to be made by the citizens rather than a small group of elite leaders. The Constitution could not go into effect unless it was ratified by nine of the original 13 states. New Hampshire became the ninth state to do so on On June 21, 1788.

One environmentalist is speaking out with his &#8220;confessions&#8221; of previously promoting the Left&#8217;s climate change agenda.
Brian Gitt, a former CEO of a green company, reflected on his journey in the latest <a href="https://www.prageru.com/video/confessions-of-an-environmentalist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PragerU 5-Minute Video,</a> &#8220;Confessions of an Environmentalist.&#8221;
&#8220;Just because you feel like you’re doing the right thing doesn’t mean you are. I have dedicated most of my life to protecting the environment,&#8221; Gitt said. &#8220;But I went about it the wrong way. I thought I was acting morally, protecting the well-being of people and the planet. In fact, I was harming both.&#8221;
Gitt believed that solar and wind power were the only hope of avoiding environmental catastrophe. He viewed fossil fuels as the enemy and wanted to keep the outdoors as &#8220;pristine as possible.&#8221;
He started a composting company, served as the executive director of a non-profit dedicated to green construction policies, and later led a consulting firm to make homes more energy efficient.
His firm won a multi-year, $60 million contract under the Obama administration as part of his efforts.
&#8220;I thought I was making a real difference in the world. I was surrounded by smart, successful, ambitious people who shared my beliefs and my heartfelt desire to change things. And my company had lots of money and lots of government support,&#8221; Gitt said.
&#8220;There was only one problem: our project to build more energy-efficient homes was an utter failure,&#8221; he confessed.
His hope to improve home energy was far too expensive for most families, even with government incentives. The government celebrated the efforts, but the results were not helping the environment.
As Gitt began to re-examine his environmental vision, he realized his situation was the symptom of &#8220;a much bigger problem.&#8221; He discovered that the trillions of dollars focused on climate change over the last two decades had only decreased fossil fuel dependence by three percentage points, calling it a pathetic return on investment.
Gitt concluded by providing five principles to help evaluate the best energy options to protect people and the planet.
They include reliability, affordability, security, scalability, and land use. His focus on land use is especially insightful, as he noted that the more land needed to produce energy, the more wildlife habitat is lost.
Gitt provided the example of a typical 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plant. He said it needs little more than one square mile to operate. Solar farms need 75 times more land to produce the same amount of energy, and wind farms need 360 times more.
He&#8217;s still devoted to improving the planet, but Gitt argues that a new approach is needed to get results. Watch the full video below:

Why is classical art — as opposed to much of today&#8217;s modern art — so good? The latest video from PragerU discusses the importance of classic art based on refined principles of aesthetics and strict standards that withstand the tests of time and culture.
Host Robert Florczak notes in the latest five-minute video from PragerU that art forms like painting, drawing, and sculpture employ a number of characteristics to create beauty. Even an inexperienced viewer of a masterpiece can recognize a beautiful art form due to aspects such as color, form, and texture.
&#8220;Composition, for instance, is the positioning of objects — elegant and controlled in the hands of a master, or awkward and haphazard in the hands of the inept,&#8221; Florczak <a href="https://www.prageru.com/video/why-is-classical-art-so-good" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> in the video. &#8220;Color can be exquisitely balanced and harmonious, or garishly random and unsavory. Movement can be uplifting and dynamic, or static and perverse.&#8221;
He adds that art began to decline in the 1860s when standard aesthetic standards were slowly abandoned, leading to a vastly different view of art. Some common attitudes now held toward art include that art is simply a reflection of its time.
Florczak also mentions that many claim art is a matter of personal taste or that there’s no such thing as great or bad art.
But is this really true? This rewriting of artistic standards is largely found in the humanities and social sciences rather than the arts. A work of art can be a reflection of a certain time, but it is also much more.
&#8220;Art, by definition, is a visual medium. Therefore, its &#8216;meaning&#8217; and ability to &#8216;make you think&#8217; are secondary to how it looks,&#8221; Florczak argues. In art, the visual matters regardless of whether a person knows anything about the artist or the story behind the work.
Instead, the quality of artistic efforts is found in the skillfulness of the visual production. The video cites the work of the 17th-century Dutch Master, Johannes Vermeer. The oil painter uses a particular blend of brushwork and color to produce a high degree of beauty.
Modern art may still be enjoyed, but it is often based on being &#8220;in the moment&#8221; or reflecting a certain emotion apart from a display of skills that are developed over years of practice.
Florczak also makes an important distinction between quality and taste when it comes to art. &#8220;Quality is based on developed standards,&#8221; he says, while &#8220;taste&#8221; is based &#8220;on personal preference.&#8221;
The video concludes by explaining that much of modern art pushes the edge of vulgarity and inappropriate content, contrasting the beauty found in classical art. A modern piece may be considered cutting-edge, but often lacks the wonder of traditional art that upholds beauty and nature.
There is much to be learned from classical art, and it&#8217;s more than just the quality of the visual medium. Classical art inspires and sets a high standard for other artists to appreciate and learn from in order to form future works, offering a legacy that extends from past to present to future.

The questions are the focus of the latest 5-Minute Video from PragerU, called &#8220;Do What You Fear.&#8221;
In the fascinating discussion, Prager first emphasizes leading a fulfilling life and notes how fear can prevent people from doing so. For example, people fear speaking in public or traveling to a faraway location, so they never do.
&#8220;People’s fear of failure prevents them from pursuing some of the things they most ache to do. The list is almost endless,&#8221; Prager states.
The PragerU co-founder then shifts to a discussion of why people act irrationally.
Many people fear flying even though far more people die in accidents in their home or car. &#8220;But because of their irrational fear of flying, they won’t fly or will do so very rarely. As a result, they see family members and friends who live far away less often than they would like, and they will never see almost any of the world,&#8221; Prager explains.
The COVID-19 pandemic offered many examples of irrational fear, such as keeping people alone and indoors for two years, the video argues. Researchers continue to discover the impact of the pandemic&#8217;s separation on Americans, including increases in depression and suicide.
Prager then addressed the question of, &#8220;How do I conquer my fears?&#8221;
His response advises viewers to follow reason and to do what you fear.
Unlike animals, humans have the ability to conquer their fears and make decisions to change habits in positive ways.
Prager reminds viewers that during the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt famously told the American people, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” He advises a similar challenge to those seeking to live a fulfilling life today.
Fear can be a powerful emotion, leading humans to protect themselves in the face of danger. However, the same emotion can lead to irrational choices that hinder people from living a fulfilling life. Prager challenges people to think clearly and live boldly to &#8220;do what you fear.&#8221;
