No one would accuse celebrities of being humble or uninterested in their looks. But despite their legendary vanity and obsession with youth, the tide may be turning on the plastic surgery craze. 
These days it’s a lot more likely that a star brags about removing fillers and implants and going makeup free. For once, reality is winning the war against total phoniness.
Example one: Pamela Anderson, who became famous thanks to her oversized chest and dramatic makeup. These days the “Baywatch” star has been making headlines for appearing on the red carpet without any makeup at all beginning in 2023.

“This whole peeling it back was kind of how I just started. I just wanted to remember who I was,” Anderson told <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DDZrhUkBjBr/?hl=en">Entertainment Tonight</a> in early December. 
“I mean I&#8217;ve been playing characters my whole life — I want to play characters in movies, not in my personal life,” she went on. “I just want to be me, so this is an experiment. It&#8217;s just something I feel drawn to do — I didn&#8217;t even think anyone would notice!”
It’s similar to what the actress told Better Homes &amp; Gardens during an August <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pamela-anderson-says-shes-moving-away-from-the-cartoon-character-image-she-created">interview</a>. “That was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself. What is this cartoon character that I’d created? OK, that was fun. But I’m not that person anymore.”
Anderson isn’t the only one. Singer Megan Trainor spoke candidly about the possible downsides of cosmetic treatments, even minor ones like filler. She <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/megan-trainor-i-got-too-much-botox-and-a-lip-flip-cant-smile-anymore">told</a> podcast listeners that doing a simple procedure left her unable to smile.
“I messed up,” she admitted. 
“Someone convinced me with my little lips that if you did a lip flip, you put filler right above your upper lip, that you could have a beautiful flip on your upper lip. And I could have one for the first time in my whole 30 years of living — it was not true,” Trainor continued.

“Little House on the Prairie” actress Melissa Gilbert also said she had some cosmetic surgery regret, describing the final results as making her look like “the spawn of Satan.”

Plastic surgeons recently discussed the growing trend of patients working to “de-Kardashian” their bodies, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/plastic-surgeons-say-americans-are-choosing-to-de-kardashian-their-bodies">reported</a>. And while they aren’t forgoing cosmetic surgery all together, they are going for subtlety over the exaggerated, Jessica Rabbit look that’s been popular for so long.
“Lifts and even breast reductions are on the rise, along with tummy tucks to make the midsection look more fit,” New York plastic surgeon Darren Smith told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I see a 20 percent increase in women coming in for lifts this year over last,” Lyle Leipziger, chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at both North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, said. “And those that want implants only want to go up one bra size.”
Southern California cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Annie Chiu said that social media has spurred “injectable backlash,” adding that “the filler market has been down in ’24.”
“At first, everyone was encouraged to get that very contoured, overfilled Instagram face, but now there is a real fear of looking weird,” Dr. Chiu said.
Former child star Lindsay Lohan has the best example of a recent glow up. Social media went wild when she was promoting her new Netflix holiday film, aptly named “Our Little Secret,&#8221; and followers insisted she suddenly look ten years younger. 
An esthetician compared photos of Lohan in a <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@elevenesthetician/video/7440206892401560878?_r=1&amp;_t=8rw7BHCw7b9">viral TikTok</a> in November, saying, “I need to know absolutely everything that occurred between 2018 to 2024 to have this crazy of a transformation. I’m in the industry and I’m at a loss for words.”

Other celebrities including Christina Aguilera and Donatella Versace appear to have opted for more natural looks, which one TikTok user said was the equivalent of returning to “factory settings.” 
She <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@emme_davi/video/7439915404425776426?_r=1&amp;_t=8rw7RVvJDuF">asked</a>, “Who is the magic engineer? Who has the magic wand?”
 &#8220;It&#8217;s not just undetectable; it&#8217;s understated,&#8221; Dr. Anthony Rossi, a dermatologist and surgeon who hosts the podcast &#8220;Give Good Face: Clean Clinical Science, said of the new trend, per <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2024/12/04/lindsay-lohan-now-plastic-surgery-speculation/76761690007/">USA Today</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s very minimalistic, but with improvements, and so it&#8217;s not this over-the-top, in-your-face, big cheeks, frozen face. It&#8217;s really more subtle. It&#8217;s really nice and refined. I love it. I think New York has been like that for a while and now other areas are catching up with it.&#8221;
That may also include getting breast implants removed, something that multiple celebrities including reality stars, models, and actresses including Anderson, Tori Spelling, Chrissy Teigen, and more have been doing in recent years. 
Race car driver Danica Patrick explained her decision with US Weekly in 2022. 
“I had tried for a year to resolve certain health issues and certain things going on that were outside of the norm and outside of what I thought there was a reason for it,” Patrick <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-body/pictures/celebs-whove-had-their-breast-implants-removed-and-why/">said</a> at the time.
“Um, and so it wasn’t like I thought I’ll get surgery and tell everyone, and it’ll be the magic fix to things. I had tried so many other things that I really had hoped would’ve been the fix, but it wasn’t. And so when I finally found something after so much searching and for a long year of a lot of testing and a lot of different protocols, it made a difference. … I feel amazing and it just keeps getting better.”
We’re still a long way from seeing celebrities embrace the reality of aging gracefully, but the backlash against over-the-top plastic surgery is at least a step in a more natural-looking direction.

The <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lifestyle/lifestyle-news/trends-plastic-surgery-1236065391/">Hollywood Reporter</a> spoke to doctors on both coasts who said they’ve seen a desire to skip the exaggerated hourglass shapes with huge backsides due to Brazilian butt lifts and big chests made popular by the likes of reality stars such as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kim-kardashian" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kim Kardashian</a> and her sisters.

“I now have women in their 60s, 70s and even 80s coming in to get their breasts and tummies done,” Leipziger said.
Sean Alemi, a New York facial plastic surgeon, calls it the “tweakmovement,” suggesting instead of getting a ton of work done, people are getting less invasive procedures.
“People in their 40s don’t want to wait until aging affects their entire face, so they are getting lower eyelid skin pinches and upper lid lifts to get rid of hooding, using just local anesthesia,” Alemi said. “It freshens without changing the shape of the face.”
A southern California cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Annie Chiu, said that because of social media, she’s also seen what she called “an injectable backlash,” adding that the “the filler market has been down in ’24.”
“At first, everyone was encouraged to get that very contoured, overfilled Instagram face, but now there is a real fear of looking weird,” Chiu said. “My colleagues think that L.A. is more overdone, but there is bad work everywhere, especially Miami and Dallas, and the Housewives of New York don’t exactly have that subtle look.”
However, it apparently depends on which coast you reside on, as New York dermatologist Howard Sobel said his patients from LA still want that full round face look, compared to his New York clients.
“They want an exaggerated feminine look because that gets you noticed, but that look has never been New York,” Sobel said. “They bring in pictures of celebrities they want to look like, but they don’t even have similar facial structures.”

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which represents 92% of all board-certified American plastic surgeons, has broken with the general consensus among medical associations, indicating it disagrees with “gender-affirming care” for minors.
In July, ASPS <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/a-consensus-no-longer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">informed</a> Leor Sapir of the Manhattan Institute that it “has not endorsed any organization’s practice recommendations for the treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria,” adding that there is “considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions” and that “the existing evidence base is viewed as low quality/low certainty.”
ASPS follows Doctors Protecting Children, a group part of a nonprofit that issued a <a href="https://doctorsprotectingchildren.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaration</a> on July 6 that stated in no uncertain terms how it felt about “gender-affirming care,” saying:

Given the recent research and the revelations of the harmful approach advocated by WPATH and its followers in the United States, we, the undersigned, call upon the medical professional organizations of the United States, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the  Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.  Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria. We also encourage the physicians who are members of these professional organizations to contact their leadership and urge them to adhere to the evidence-based research now available.

“As the U.K.’s Cass Review pointed out, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the U.S. Endocrine Society were especially important in forging this consensus, and they did so by citing each other’s statements, rather than conducting a scientific appraisal of the evidence,” Sapir noted, adding, “The U.S. is one of the few Western countries where minors can receive gender surgeries, according to <a href="https://aristotlefoundation.org/study/comparing-teenagers-children-and-gender-transition-policy-in-canada-the-united-states-and-europe">a new report</a>.”

We can get input from other clinicians, but ultimately the responsibility for determining medical readiness lies with us. That means that we have to examine all the data and studies available to us. Furthermore, you can’t help people by ignoring the reasons they want to go under the knife.”

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kate-beckinsale">Kate Beckinsale</a> shut down plastic surgery rumors and said the “insidious bullying” over time takes a toll on her mental health — following a hospital stay in March for an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kate-beckinsales-no-context-hospital-photos-sound-alarm-bells-from-fans">undisclosed health issue</a>.
In a lengthy post on Sunday on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6lgGS4r9k5/?img_index=7">Instagram</a>, the 50-year-old actress posted two videos, one of her twenty years ago and another more recent, and said that the only reason she looks different is that she’s aged. However, she was adamant that she had not undergone any surgery to change her looks and asked people to stop bullying her.
“Every time I post anything — and by the way, this has been the case since I was about 30 — I am accused of having had unrecognizable surgery/using Botox using fillers/being obsessed with looking younger, and it’s really such a tiresome and subtly vicious way to bully a person,” Beckinsale wrote.
“I don’t actually do any of those things — I’ve even gone to the trouble of having a plastic surgeon categorically state that I don’t and haven’t, and still, every time there’s a chorus of ‘my God, you’re unrecognizable,’” she added. “‘Oh my God PLASTIC, oh my God, you don’t even look like yourself anymore,’ it happens constantly and it’s usually women that are doing it.”

“Life happens — obviously I have aged, everybody ages,” Beckinsale continued. “I’m not too concerned about aging — because I found my father dead at the age of 5, I spent most of my teenage years and a good deal of my 20s absolutely crippled with severe anxiety and panic attacks that I was going to die of a heart attack too, and went to emergency rooms often, and was almost, at that time of my life, completely immobilized by that anxiety.”
The “Click” star noted that the difference in the two videos was things like how she had “paler” skin because she “lived in the UK” or used to pluck her eyebrows too much, and most noticeably had a “fuller face” because she was younger.
She closed out her post noting that she’s fully aware that even saying all this “will have absolutely no effect&#8221; on those bullying her.
“It isn’t going to stop,” Beckinsale wrote. “But I’m also posting it because whatever someone looks like, accusing them constantly of things they haven’t done, or being obsessed with youth when actually, currently I’m obsessed with surviving loss, is bullying. Please stop now.”
The “Serendipity” star’s post comes as her family has been dealing with the loss of her step-father, British TV director Roy Battersby. He died in January of a “massive stroke” while battling cancer, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2024/03/11/entertainment/kate-beckinsale-hospitalized-thanks-mom-for-support/">Page Six</a> noted. He was 87.
At the time, Beckinsale shared a video of her stepfather and wrote on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C2JKFepJxNw/">social media</a>, “I have no words yet . In a cover story for <a href="https://www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/kylie-jenner-interviewed-by-jennifer-lawrence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Interview magazine</a>, actress Jennifer Lawrence and the 26-year-old reality TV star talked about being accused of having work done to change their facial appearance despite both crediting the changes to aging and makeup.
Lawrence said, &#8220;It&#8217;s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon, because everybody in the last few months since I&#8217;ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m like, &#8216;I didn&#8217;t have eye surgery. I&#8217;m doing makeup,&#8221; she added.
Jenner said it&#8217;s amazing what makeup can do before admitting she &#8220;did end up getting lip fillers.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;ll see before and after photos when I&#8217;m 12 years old versus 26 and my eyebrows are filled differently,&#8221; Jenner said. &#8220;I have contour on. Lawrence agreed and said that she has had to deal with the same thing after coming into the spotlight at such a young age.
&#8220;I started at 19, so I get the before and after pictures from when I&#8217;m 19 to 30 and I&#8217;m like, &#8216;I grew up. I lost baby weight in my face, and my face changed because I&#8217;m aging,&#8221; the &#8220;Hunger Games&#8221; star said.

A top California plastic surgeon <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/08/30/plastic-surgeon-claims-president-joe-biden-spent-100k-on-face-lifts-hair/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estimates</a> that over the years President Biden has spent the equivalent of $100,000 in current dollars on plastic surgery, including a face and eyebrow lift.
Dr. Gary Motykie of West Hollywood, California, has performed plastic surgeries ranging from rhinoplasties to facial rejuvenation, and submitted to JamPress that Biden had extensive work done from the neck up.
“I’d estimate that Joe Biden would’ve spent as much as $100,000 in right now’s [dollars] on cosmetic surgery if he had undergone these procedures right here in Beverly Hills,” Motykie said.
“President Biden is now 82 years old … I think he’s definitely had some plastic surgery,” Motykie said in a TikTok video. He opined that Biden had “telltale signs of plastic surgery,” starting with “his hair.&#8221;
“We can see that even 30 to 40 years ago, his hair was thinning quite dramatically,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And then we see some signs that he underwent a hair transplant procedure … and probably one of the older techniques.”
Motykie cited Biden’s brow, saying it had an “unnatural appearance” similar to actor Burt Reynolds or singer Kenny Rogers. “And in men, as I always say, it can make them look a little feminine or a little odd in the brow, and we see that in President Biden,” Motykie claimed.
“Also when he’s turned to the side in certain angles, we can see some of the signs in the ear and in the neck here,” Motykie concluded. He also claimed Biden had undergone a lower blepharoplasty to eliminate eyebags, as well as used botox and fillers.
Over the course of his career, Biden has been accused at times of shallowness and prioritizing optics. He recently received widespread criticism for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/feel-the-empathy-and-decency-biden-slammed-for-not-acknowledging-his-own-grandchild" target="_blank" rel="noopener">refusing</a> to acknowledge his seventh grandchild, critics suggesting it was motivated by a desire to bury more ugly press about his son, Hunter.
In a famous <a href="https://www.washingtonian.com/1974/06/01/joe-biden-kitty-kelley-1974-profile-death-and-the-all-american-boy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> Biden conducted with Kitty Kelley in June 1974, only a year and a half after his wife and 13-month-old daughter, Naomi, were killed in a tragic car accident, the then-senator boasted to Kelley while showing his deceased wife in a bikini, “Let me show you my favorite picture of her. She had the best body of any woman I ever saw. She looks better than a Playboy bunny, doesn’t she?”
In the same interview, Biden declared, “I want to find a woman to adore me again.” He also warned Kelley in the interview, “And, whether you like it or not, young lady, us cruddy politicians can take away that First Amendment of yours if we want to.”

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/charlize-theron">Charlize Theron</a> says she hasn&#8217;t had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/plastic-surgery">plastic surgery</a> or put fillers in her face, despite rumors claiming she has.
&#8220;My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and aging,&#8221; the 48-year-old actress said in a recent interview with <a href="https://www.allure.com/story/charlize-theron-aging-facelift-interview">Allure</a>.
Theron went on to address speculation running rampant among her fan base. She claimed any changes to her appearance are the result of time, not cosmetic procedures. &#8220;People think I&#8217;ve had a facelift. They’re like, &#8216;What did she do to her face?&#8217; I’m like, &#8216;B***, I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens,'&#8221; the “Atomic Blonde” actress continued.
She said there is a double standard between the sexes regarding aging.
“I’ve always had issues with the fact that men kind of age like fine wines and women like cut flowers,” Theron said. &#8220;I despise that concept and I want to fight against it, but I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them. “Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” Theron told the Daily Mail of Jackson in 2019. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said, ‘I am not a boy.’”
“My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” the actress said of her children. “And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that.”

A plastic surgeon in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ohio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ohio</a> had her medical license revoked and has been banned from practicing in the state after she botched surgeries on three patients while livestreaming on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tiktok" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TikTok</a>, according to the Ohio Medical Board. 
From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Katharine Grawe, known as “Dr. Roxy,” amassed thousands of followers on TikTok, where the doctor would often livestream her procedures and answer questions from her followers while patients were under the knife. Grawe was banned from practicing in Ohio and fined $4,500 for failing to meet the standard of care, WCMH <a href="https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/ohio-medical-board-strips-dr-roxy-of-license-after-tiktok-livestreams/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. 
A member of the Ohio Medical Board said at a hearing in Columbus on Wednesday that Grawe prioritized her social media clout above the well-being of her patients.
“I strongly recommend that there never be a Dr. Roxy or patient one, two or three — and protect the people of the state of Ohio from this reckless physician,” said board member Dr. Jonathan Feibel.
Mary Jenkins, one of Grawe’s former patients who successfully sued the doctor in 2019 after tissue from her breast reconstruction died, hopes the board’s decision will offer some closure to victims like her. 
“It will never go away,” Jenkins said, “because every time we look down, we see a scar and we will always remember.”
The board said Grawe was warned as early as 2018 about privacy concerns regarding her filming of the procedures often located in intimate areas. Grawe’s license was temporarily suspended last October before the board completely stripped it away. 
At the Wednesday hearing, Grawe said she filmed her surgeries “to make people smile in a world that is negative and difficult to navigate” but added that she now understands “many of those silly videos appeared unprofessional.”

According to a notice from the medical board, another one of Grawe’s patients suffered a perforated intestine one week after her surgery that the TikTok doctor performed while livestreaming for her followers. That patient also had severe bacterial damage in her abdomen and lost brain function due to the amount of toxins in her blood, the notice said, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ohio-tiktok-doctor-surgeries-license-revoked-4f1ab7a71b2b3d396d102156f2c9e219" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Associated Press. 
“These outcomes were not normal complications like those that exist in the routine practice of medicine, but were rather caused by recklessness and disregard for the rules governing the practice of medicine in Ohio,” Feibel said.

Actress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Priyanka Chopra</a> recently reflected on her terrible <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/plastic-surgery">nose job</a> experience and how it sent her into a “deep depression.”
&#8220;It was a dark phase,&#8221; the 40-year-old actress <a href="https://www.howardstern.com/news/2023/05/02/actress-and-global-icon-priyanka-chopra-makes-her-stern-show-debut/">told</a> Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show Tuesday. Chopra said the routine procedure cost her three <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">acting jobs</a> and made her question her identity. 
Chopra is married to musician Nick Jonas.
The Indian star said she experienced a “lingering head cold,” and the doctor recommended surgery to have a polyp removed. But then, &#8220;this thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression,” she said.
Chopra went into detail about the experience in her 2020 memoir, “Unfinished.” 
&#8220;While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasn&#8217;t me anymore,” she wrote, per <a href="https://www.etonline.com/priyanka-chopra-opens-up-about-needing-corrective-surgery-after-botched-nose-operation-160371">ET Online</a>. 
The “Citadel” star said the media dubbed her “Plastic Chopra” following the botched surgery. She said the nickname stuck over the years.
&#8220;It has followed me my entire professional life,&#8221; she wrote in the book. Later, the actress said she eventually made peace with her new look. &#8220;I&#8217;ve gotten accustomed to this face. Now when I look in the mirror, I am no longer surprised; I&#8217;ve made peace with this slightly different me. This is my face. This is my body. I might be flawed, but I am me.&#8221;
Chopra told Stern she thought her career &#8220;was over before it started.&#8221; But then her dad convinced her to get corrective surgery.
