“SNL” alum Pete Davidson recently discussed his decision to remove all his tattoos, a process which will take years and will cost well into six figures.
The 31-year-old comedian was well known for being covered in ink. But now, in addition to living a sober lifestyle, Davidson has decided to remove all the tattoos because they remind him of negative parts of his past.
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” he said in an interview with <a href="https://variety.com/2025/shopping/news/pete-davidson-tattoo-removal-online-dating-social-media-1236374150/">Variety</a>. “So I’m just removing them and starting fresh, because that’s what I think works best for me and for my brain. When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of ‘Oh yeah, you were a f***ing drug addict. Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back.’”
The “SNL” star told the outlet that he began the removal process during the pandemic. So far, he has removed tattoos from his arms, hands, and neck. But with each tattoo requiring ten or twelve sessions to remove, plus 6 weeks of recovery time each, it’s been a slow process.
“That’s 60 weeks of your life right there on just one tattoo to remove,” he said. “So, it’s pretty horrible. It’s like putting your arm on a grill and burning off a layer, and then you gotta do maintenance and let it heal properly. And it’s pretty tough. It sucks, I’m not gonna lie.”
Davidson estimates it will take him a decade to be tattoo-free. When asked how much it cost, he said, “It’s a pretty uncomfortable amount of money to disclose, but I think one of the tabloids already leaked it. I’ve already spent like 200K and I’m like 30% done. So, like, it’s gonna suck.”
Previously, the “King of Staten Island” star implied he was removing the tattoos because of his movie career. “I honestly never thought that I would get the opportunity to act and I love it a lot,” he <a href="https://www.today.com/popculture/pete-davidson-tattoo-removal-sobriety-rcna190148">told</a> Seth Meyers in 2021. “You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have that much.”
Some of Davidson’s tattoos being removed include a shark, a Rocky Balboa quote, a unicorn, and  portraits of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Hillary Clinton.

The 29-year-old comedian has reportedly agreed to enter an 18-month diversion program without having to enter a plea or no contest to the offense, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/07/24/pete-davidson-community-service-reckless-driving-beverly-hills-home-nyfd/?adid=social-tw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a> reported.
The &#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221; star must attend 12 hours of traffic school, be educated at a hospital or morgue on the possible results of reckless driving, and complete 50 hours of community service.

The comedian will reportedly be able to do his community service hours with the New York City Fire Department. His father worked with the NYFD before he was killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack, the outlet noted. Davidson&#8217;s dad, Scott, was 33 when he died, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/pete-davidson-to-complete-community-service-hours-at-late-dads-fire-department-after-reckless" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Tonight</a> noted.
The actor was charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless driving last month after he crashed his car into a home in Beverly Hills.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney&#8217;s Office said that if the comedian complies with these certain conditions, there will be no criminal offense on his record, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/07/24/pete-davidson-to-complete-community-service-after-reckless-driving-charge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a> noted.
&#8220;We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home,&#8221; a spokesperson for the DA&#8217;s office previously told the outlet.
&#8220;Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision,&#8221; the spokesperson added. &#8220;We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.&#8221;

At the time, outlets reported the <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/03/09/see-photos-of-pete-davidson-moments-after-beverly-hills-car-crash/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comedian</a> was driving at a &#8220;high rate of speed&#8221; and lost control of his vehicle that jumped a curb and crashed into the front lawn of the residence before slamming into the house. Davidson was in the car with girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders.
Following the crash, the couple issued an apology to the homeowners, who did not file a lawsuit against them, the outlet noted.
Authorities determined that Davidson was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash, TMZ noted.

“SNL” actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pete-davidson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pete Davidson</a> shared some harsh words with an executive from the animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/peta" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PETA</a>) after being scolded for purchasing a new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dogs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dog</a> from a pet store rather than adopting one.
The 29-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/comedian" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comedian</a> left an explicit voicemail on Monday for Daphna Nachminovitch, the senior vice president of PETA&#8217;s Cruelty Investigations Department, after she released a statement about Davidson shopping for a dog.
&#8220;Thank you so much for making comments publicly that I didn&#8217;t adopt a dog,&#8221; Davidson said in the recording, per a report from <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/pete-davidson-lashes-peta-amid-puppy-purchase-backlash-f-you" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>. &#8220;I just want to let you know I&#8217;m severely allergic to dogs, so I have to get a specific breed. I&#8217;m only not allergic to Cavapoos, and those type of dogs.” 
&#8220;And my mom&#8217;s f***ing dog, who&#8217;s two years old, died a week prior, and we&#8217;re all so sad,” the actor continued. “So I had to get a specific dog. So why don&#8217;t you do your research before f***ing create[ing] news story for people because you&#8217;re a boring, tired c***. F*** you. And suck my d***.&#8221;
The Cavapoo is a mixed breed that combines the Cavalier King Charles spaniel and poodle. It’s known for being “hypoallergenic” and is supposedly non-irritating for dog owners with allergies.
Davidson’s friend had previously posted on social media that the actor’s dog, Henry, had died just ahead of the “Bupkis” premiere day on May 4. Davidson and his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, were later photographed shopping for a new dog at the Citipups pet store in New York City.
This led to PETA releasing a statement: &#8220;It’s tragic that Pete didn’t seek out a borough-born mutt from a city animal shelter, because a scrappy New Yorker with charm, personality, and unconventional handsomeness could have been his perfect match. Since shelters in New York and across the country are overflowing with homeless animals, PETA urges Pete to show some big heart energy by adopting, not shopping, in the future.&#8221; 
Davidson replied via his own statement to <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/06/06/pete-davidson-leaves-peta-unhinged-voice-mail-new-dog-backlash/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ,</a> saying that he initially sought to &#8220;adopt a specific hypoallergenic dog&#8221; and that he was told &#8220;it wasn&#8217;t an option, and if it was, it was rare.&#8221;
The “SNL” alum also said he was sorry for his harshly worded voicemail but explained how he spoke out of grief. 
&#8220;I haven&#8217;t seen my mom and sister cry like that in over 20 years. I was trying to cheer up my family. I was already upset that the store had filmed me without my permission or acknowledgment. Then this organization (PETA) made a public example of us, making our grieving situation worse. I am upset. It was a poor choice of words. I shouldn&#8217;t have said what I said, but I am not sorry for standing up for myself and my family.&#8221;

PETA responded, insisting that Davidson could have found the breed he wanted at a shelter and shouldn&#8217;t have visited a pet store.
&#8220;Our hearts go out to Pete and the rest of the Davidson family for the loss of their beloved dog, but there’s no excuse for promoting the puppy mill industry by buying a dog from a pet store when millions of wonderful dogs await loving homes in animal shelters. Anyone set on finding a dog of a specific breed can go to shelters, where an estimated 25% of dogs are ‘purebreds,’ check with adoption groups, or search Petfinder online,&#8221; PETA wrote.
&#8220;Citipups, the store where Pete purchased his dog, has come under fire for allegedly selling sick puppies who have died prematurely. We know Pete cares about animals and was trying to do a nice thing for his family, but he has millions of impressionable fans and his choices matter—so the next time he’s ready to welcome an animal into the family, we hope he makes the compassionate choice to adopt, not buy.&#8221;

Comedian Pete Davidson reportedly crashed a vehicle into a Beverly Hills home over the weekend after speeding through a neighborhood with his girlfriend, Chase Sui-Wonders.
Law enforcement says that the accident happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday when he was driving a Mercedes &#8220;at a high rate of speed&#8221; in Beverly Hills, according to sources that spoke with <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/03/05/pete-davidson-chase-sui-wonders-car-accident-crash-beverly-hills/">TMZ</a>.
Something happened that caused Davidson to lose control of the vehicle, which led to the car flying over the curb and destroying a fire hydrant before ramming into the side of a house.
Photos obtained by the publication suggest that Davidson must have regained enough control of the vehicle to reduce its speed enough that the car did not fully penetrate into the home.
The photos did show that there was considerable damage to the side of the home and the landscaping. The fire hydrant was completely taken out.
The report said that neither person in the vehicle had been charged with anything at this point, although that could change. Law enforcement did not suspect that substances were involved.
Lt. Christopher Coulter of the Beverly Hills Police Department <a href="https://people.com/tv/pete-davidson-chase-sui-wonders-reportedly-involved-in-beverly-hills-car-crash/">confirmed</a> that the accident happened but did not state who was driving.

The 72-year-old comedian made the revelation while speaking with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, saying the accident happened January 17, but he was reluctant to make a big deal about it because of how recently the fire incident occurred.
“That was the first accident. OK? Then just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle,” Leno <a href="https://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/entertainment-columns/kats/jay-leno-breaks-bones-in-2nd-accident-after-announcing-vegas-return-2719088/">told</a> the Las Vegas Review-Journal when he was asked in late January about how he was recovering from the fire. “So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”
When the interviewer expressed concern, Leno was quick to reassure him that he was doing well. “I’m OK!” Leno exclaimed. “I’m OK, I’m working. I’m working this weekend.”
The former “Tonight Show” host explained how he was test driving a vintage 1940 Indian motorcycle when he got pulled off by a wire strung across the parking lot. He recalled noticing a leaking gas line, which prompted him to check it out.
“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” Leno explained. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline[d] me and, boom, knocked me off the bike.”
“The bike kept going, and you know how that works out,” he recounted.

West and Davidson have traded words both publicly and privately since Kardashian and the comedian were publicly linked. Most recently, West <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dead-at-age-28-kanye-west-mocks-pete-davidson-over-kim-kardashian-breakup">celebrated</a> the couple&#8217;s demise in a post that said, &#8220;Skete Davidson Dead At Age 28&#8221; — referring to the nickname the recording artist gave his foe.
&#8220;The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger for [Davidson] and he&#8217;s had to seek out help,&#8221; a source <a href="https://people.com/tv/pete-davidson-in-trauma-therapy-due-to-kanye-west-social-media-attacks-source/">told</a> People magazine.
Davidson &#8220;has been in trauma therapy&#8221; since April, &#8220;in large part&#8221; due to his beef with West, the source said.
&#8220;The King of Staten Island&#8221; star, though, &#8220;has no regrets for dating Kim and wants it to be made very clear that she&#8217;s been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship,&#8221; the source added, noting that the 28-year-old &#8220;just wants to focus on his career.&#8221;

Soon after the news broke, West <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg_0KfkreCq/">shared</a> a fake photo of a New York Times headline <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dead-at-age-28-kanye-west-mocks-pete-davidson-over-kim-kardashian-breakup">declaring</a>, “Skete Davidson Dead At Age 28&#8243;.
Notably, text messages leaked in March appeared to show Davidson taunting West, allegedly from the bed of Kardashian.
“I’ve decided I’m not gonna let you treat us like this anymore and I’m done being quiet.” Davidson said in the text exchange to West. “Grow the f*** up.”
When West asked where Davidson was, the actor responded, “In bed with your wife.&#8221; He added a photo of himself in a bed with his tongue out and flashing a peace sign.
&#8220;Happy to see you&#8217;re out of the hospital and rehab,&#8221; West reacted.
“I’m in [Los Angeles] for the day if you wanna stop being a little internet b**** boy and talk… You don’t scare me bro. [Your] actions are so p**** and embarrassing. It’s so sad to watch you ruin your legacy on the daily,&#8221; Davidson later texted West.
&#8220;You&#8217;re more than welcome to come to Sunday Service,&#8221; West answered.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kanye-west">Kanye West</a> is not keeping quiet about his ex-wife <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kim-kardashian">Kim Kardashian&#8217;s</a> breakup with &#8220;Saturday Night Live&#8221; comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pete-davidson">Pete Davidson</a>.
The 45-year-old recording artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg_0KfkreCq/">shared</a> a fake photo of a New York Times headline declaring, “Skete Davidson Dead At Age 28.&#8221; West had repeatedly called Davidson by the nickname “Skete” during their public feud that played out over several months earlier this year.
The image includes a smaller caption that says, “Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers.”
For now, this trolling image is the only one on West’s Instagram account, which he has deleted and reinstated several times as the drama between him and Kardashian continues. It appears the “Flashing Lights” composer decided to start up his social media account again as news of Kardashian and Davidson’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kim-kardashian-and-pete-davidson-call-it-quits-report">breakup went public</a> on Friday. The pair had been dating for nine months.
Fan reactions to West’s Instagram photo were mixed. 
“You win the internet today bro,” one fan shared. 
“God steppin in,” another person observed.
“Chillllllll,” someone else advised.
West was never thrilled that Davidson was dating Kardashian and went public with his concerns via social media. In March, the rapper released a music video for the song “Eazy” showing a claymation depiction of Davidson’s likeness getting buried alive. 
That same month, screenshots of a text exchange between the two men went viral as Davidson shared a photo of himself shirtless in bed with Kardashian, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/in-bed-with-your-wife-pete-davidson-taunts-kanye-west">responding</a> to West’s question of where he was by saying, “In bed with your wife.”
Meanwhile, Kid Cudi was a mutual friend who got caught up in the drama. West shared in February, “Just so everyone knows Cudi will not be on Donda because he’s friends with you know who,” referencing his connection to the comedian.
Cudi shot back saying, “Too bad I don’t want to be on your album you f***in’ dinosaur hahaha everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about your albums since I met you.”
This explains why West targeted Cudi on the faux New York Times headline, referencing a recent incident when the rap artist left the stage after fans wouldn’t stop throwing water bottles at him.
