As BLM signals support for Hamas, Patrisse Khan-Cullors’ memoir reads more like prophecy. When they call you a terrorist, Patrisse, they just might be right.
I usually walk past the open-air bookseller on the corner of 68th and Columbus without a second thought, but last weekend, a book stopped me in my tracks. Its bright jewel-toned jacket colors set it apart from piles of other homeless tomes strewn atop a folding table, waiting for second, third and fourth sets of hands to claim them, leaf through their pages, and rescue their sentiments from obscurity.
Feigning the nonchalance of an Ariana Grande song, the cover read in all lowercase, “when they call you a terrorist — a black lives matter memoir, patrisse khan-cullors &amp; asha bandele with a forward by angela davis.”
My friend peeked at the book over my shoulder. We paused. ”In light of recent events,” he said, “it might be time to bring that one back.”
“I think the first time I heard that we were being called a terrorist organization — that the leaders of Black Lives Matters were terrorists, I didn’t know how to respond…” khan-cullors said in a 2018 <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/when-they-call-you-terrorist-black-lives-matter-founder-patrisse-n837901" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with NBC News. “…what we call for always is peace. We’ve called always for justice. What we’ve called for always is dignity.”
A quick perusal unlocked a vault of repressed memories from 2020, George Floyd’s death turned the country into a tinderbox, and BLM lit the match: looters leaving stores uncontested with shopping carts full of goods. Small businesses hanging We Support Black Lives! signs to no avail — they’d have their windows smashed in or their buildings burnt out by morning. Young cops, mothers and fathers, shot point blank while resting in their squad cars. A football star shot while helping two mugged women. A 77-year old police chief found dead in front of Lee’s Pawn &amp; Jewelry Shop in St. Louis (his shooting was <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/2020/06/02/retired-st-louis-police-captain-fatally-shot-by-looters-on-facebook-live-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">streamed on Facebook Live</a>).
Instead of condemnation for these riots, there was celebration and self-flagellation, especially among young liberals. Well-meaning friends with hearts for “social justice” posted black squares and reading lists (many touting Patrisse’s book) on Instagram with captions like, “Take time away to educate yourself. It’s not your black friends’ job to do it for you.”
Fortune 500 companies and educational institutions were quick to issue statements in support of the movement. Our political betters, including the sitting Vice President, promoted bail funds for those arrested while protesting. DEI initiatives and “unconscious bias trainings” were instituted across the country.
The divisive language of Critical Race Theory and anti-Western sentiment seeped into our everyday lives. Police became the <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/56239969-when-they-call-you-a-terrorist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">progeny of slave catchers</a>. “…[neither] the race or class of any one officer, nor the good heart of an officer,” khan-cullors’ book <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/56239969-when-they-call-you-a-terrorist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reads</a>, “could change that.” Whiteness became a dirty word, representative of a vague colonialist oppressor. The oppressed acted with impunity.
“The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination,” said race-baiter and children’s book author Ibram X. Kendi. “The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.&#8221;
As the country reopened and people returned to work and school, tensions cooled from a rolling boil to a simmer. That is, until October 7th, when Hamas terrorists flooded the Israeli border, murdered over 1,400 people, and dragged another 240 hostages into Gaza (that number continues to rise as bodies are identified). It was the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.
Videos published by Hamas terrorists shock the conscience — young women sodomized next to their friends’ corpses. A beheaded pregnant woman with her child cut from her stomach. Broken women, half-naked, paraded through the streets by terrorists armed with Uzis. Whole families annihilated. A baby cooked alive in a kitchen oven while its mother is raped next to her dead husband.
For a moment, the world stood still in what many thought was collective grief. And then, to their horror, people began to cheer. Instead of condemnation for Hamas, there was celebration and justification. In the week following the attack, reports of <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/video/reports-of-antisemitic-incidents-in-u-s-spike-after-attack-on-israel-anti-defamation-league-says-195578437929" target="_blank" rel="noopener">antisemitic incidents</a> in the US spiked 300 percent year over year. A rash of pro-Palestinian protests broke out across the world, from London to Times Square to Nashville. Queers stripped for Palestine.
College groups — many of whom had supported Black Lives Matter years — came out with Pro-Palestinian statements. Six hours after the attack, thirty four Harvard student groups signed a <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/10/09/thirty-one-harvard-organizations-blame-israel-for-hamas-attack/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> on the “Situation on Palestine,” stating, “We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence.”
“Today, the Palestinian Ordeal enters into uncharted territory,” it continues. “The coming days will require a firm stand against colonial retaliation.”
Students at Columbia University beat an Israeli student with a stick after he confronted a woman tearing down pictures of hostages. At <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-hamas-protesters-locked-out-while-jewish-students-shelter-in-cooper-union-campus-library" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cooper Union College</a>, Jewish students barricaded themselves in the library as protesters banged on the door, chanting, “long live the Intifada!” while the university president, Laura Sparks, escaped through a back door. The list of participating campuses — Stanford, NYU, Northwestern, Georgetown, George Washington, Berkeley — stretches on ad nauseam.
“Honor the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for liberation,” they chant. “Glory to our martyrs. From River to Sea, Bears for Palestine.” At <a href="https://twitter.com/AviMayer/status/1614630904336613378?utm_source=substack&amp;utm_medium=email">Michigan</a>, my alma mater, one protest sign read: “There is only one solution: Intifada revolution.” The rhyme echoes past atrocities with a chilling finality.

Not to be outdone by college students, Black Lives Matter Grassroots, issued a <a href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/f3c56a6d-3b6f-44b2-9606-54640a0e56d8_1180x1186.png?utm_source=substack&amp;utm_medium=email">statement</a> of its own: “Black Lives Matter Grassroots stands in solidarity with our Palestinian family who are currently resisting 57 years of settler colonialism and apartheid…as a radical Black organization grounded in abolitionist ideals, we see clear parallels between Black and Palestinian people.”
Anti-racist baby-book writer Ibram X. Kendi chimed in: “To care about the lives of Palestinians is to demand the end to these crimes against humanity. #CeaseFireNow”
For many who posted black squares and reading lists after the death of George Floyd, this was a nauseating betrayal. A <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/10/10/blm-chicago-under-fire-for-pro-palestine-post-featuring-paragliding-terrorist/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a> from BLMChicago of a sleekly branded Palestinian paraglider on his way to massacre young Israelis with the caption “That is all that is it!” sparked a great awakening.
A friend of mine, so roughly woken, sat beside me on the Upper West Side, speaking in hushed tones about the conflict. “Everyone is believing the wrong thing,” she said, hurting. “How is everyone believing the wrong thing?”
This is what happens when you take critical race theory to its logical end, I wanted to say. When the comforting platitudes of progressive identity politics — the simplistic language of oppressor and oppressed — actually lead to terrorism: when the victimized act, from the river to the sea, with impunity; when zionism, self-determination and colonialism are interchangeable in our cultural lexicon; when the “noble savage” resisting the oppression of the colonizing white man takes their jihad too far.
It’s no matter that Israelis are not &#8220;white, western colonizers.&#8221; No matter that Arabs make up over 20% of the Israeli population. Because Israel is the singular stronghold of Judeo-Christian values in a vast Pan-Arab expanse, they are the imperialists who must be destroyed. The precision of the weapon is of no consequence. Ask the Hamas terrorists who decapitate people with shovels.
Or, <a href="https://twitter.com/RealJamesWoods/status/1712130345305530492?utm_source=substack&amp;utm_medium=email" target="_blank" rel="noopener">take it from</a> our own Patrisse Khan-Cullors, ahead of the curve circa 2015: “Palestine is our generation’s South Africa…if we don’t step up boldly and courageously to end the imperialist project called Israel, we’re doomed.”
I slammed the book shut and threw it back on the folding table. When they call you a terrorist, Patrisse, they just might be right.

The Black Lives Matter’s Global Network Foundation, which has reportedly paid some of its official and unofficial chapters millions of dollars, appears to be risking bankruptcy.
The foundation ran $8.5 million in arrears last year, while donations plunged 88% between 2021 and 2022, The Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/black-lives-matter-hemorrhaged-cash-in-2022-tax-documents-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Co-founder Patrisse Cullors resigned from the organization in 2021 after she was accused of using BLM&#8217;s funds for her personal use, a charge she has denied.
The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/inside-blm-co-founder-patrisse-khan-cullors-real-estate-buying-binge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, “As protests broke out across the country in the name of Black Lives Matter, the group’s co-founder went on a real estate buying binge, snagging four high-end homes for $3.2 million in the U.S. alone, according to property records.”
Cullors’ relatives have been on the company’s payroll including her brother Paul who had owned two companies that BLM paid $1.6 million in order to provide “professional security services” in 2022. Paul received a $126,000 salary as “head of security” in 2022 while company&#8217;s linked to Damon Turner, the father of Cullors&#8217; child, received roughly $970,000 in 2021.
&#8220;While Patrisse Cullors was forced to resign due to charges of using BLM&#8217;s funds for her personal use, it looks like she&#8217;s still keeping it all in the family,” Paul Kamenar of the National Legal and Policy Center watchdog group told the Free Beacon.
In May 2022, news broke that Black Lives Matter paid out over $12 million for properties in Toronto and Los Angeles. The funds for a $6.3 million 10,000-square-foot property in Toronto came from an “out of country grant” meant for “activities to educate and support black communities, and to purchase and renovate property for charitable use,” <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/05/17/black-lives-matter-spent-at-least-12-million-on-mansions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to BLMGNF’s federal tax filing for fiscal year 2020.
“No one expected the foundation to grow at this pace and to this scale,&#8221; said Cicley Gay, chair of the board of directors of BLMGNF, in May 2022. &#8220;Now, we are taking time to build efficient infrastructure to run the largest black, abolitionist, philanthropic organization to ever exist in the United States.”
“As a new board, we are building policies that didn’t exist, operational and administrative infrastructure that didn’t exist,” board member Shalomyah Bowers echoed. “We’re making it clear to black people that we’re an institution and that we’re here to stay. In order to do that, we need to demonstrate that our financial house is in order.”
In 2021, the foundation said it raised $90 million in 2020.

Black Lives Matter is making bank.
Executives of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Global Network Foundation Inc. &#8220;have nearly $42 million in assets, despite spending more than $37 million from July 2020 to June 2021,&#8221; Fox News reported on Tuesday.
The report comes from a 63-page compilation of tax documents acquired by the Associated Press, Fox <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/black-lives-matter-42-million-assets-irs">reported</a>.
Within the documents were some interesting numbers.
&#8220;Newly released tax filings revealed how Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors used charity funds to pay her friends and family large sums for various &#8216;consulting&#8217; services, as well as charter a private flight,&#8221; the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10823779/New-tax-filings-reveal-BLM-founder-Patrisse-Cullors-spent-foundations-funds.html">reported</a>.
&#8220;The documents reveal that BLM paid a company owned by Damon Turner, the father of Cullors&#8217; child, nearly $970,000 to help &#8216;produce live events&#8217; and provide other &#8216;creative services.&#8217; The co-founder&#8217;s brother, Paul Cullors, received more than $840,000 for providing security services to the foundation,&#8221; the UK paper wrote.
Others made big bank from the non-profit organization, too.
&#8220;A consulting firm run by Shalomyah Bowers, who is BLM&#8217;s board secretary and has previously served as deputy executive director, was paid more than $2.1 million for providing the organization with operational support, including staffing, fundraising and other key services,&#8221; the Mail reported.
Cullors resigned from the organization amid questions about its finances. She has denied claims she used money for personal matters and later &#8220;reimbursed BLM $73,523 for a charter flight for foundation-related travel, which the organization says she took in 2021 out of concern for COVID-19 and security threats,&#8221; the Mail reported. Nearly $6 million of cash collected by the organization was spent on a six-bedroom, six-bathroom house in Studio City that features a swimming pool, a soundstage and ample office space.
The tax filing also says the foundation invested $32 million in stocks from the $90 million it collected amid racial justice protests in 2020 that occurred in major cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd.
Brian Mittendorf, Ph.D., an accounting professor at Ohio State University, told Fox that the tax disclosure will likely set up the foundation for criticism because its &#8220;huge windfall&#8221; has a &#8220;mismatch&#8221; and &#8220;gaps.&#8221;
&#8220;It comes across as an early startup nonprofit, without substantial governance structure in place, that got a huge windfall,&#8221; Mittendorf told the outlet.
&#8220;People are going to be quick to assume that mismatch reflects intent. Whether there’s anything improper here, that is another question,&#8221; the professor said. &#8220;But whether they set themselves up for being criticized, I think that certainly is the case because they didn’t plug a bunch of those gaps.&#8221;

A Black Lives Matter co-founder who once admitted that she had been “trained” to be a Marxist organizer has been appointed to the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
Patrisse Cullors recently revealed the move in a newsletter to her supporters, titled “The Abolitionist’s Update on Art and Activism.” She said she “came back and hit the ground running” after “some much needed time of rest.” In May, Cullors stepped down as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation following a controversy surrounding her property purchases.
“I’m thrilled to continue to weave my roles as artist and organizer, where I can continue to support Black creatives,” Cullors wrote in the update sent last week. “I have a ton of to-do’s on my list. I won’t share them now. Just stay put and watch as they unfold.”
“I truly believe Black creatives are the backbone of our society and community,” she continued. “We are often under represented and under resourced. But I plan on advocating for the full support of Black creatives across my beautiful ass city!”
Cullors was appointed to the commission by L.A. County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, a Democrat. The group functions in an advisory role to the powerful L.A. County Board of Supervisors, the governing body of America&#8217;s most populated county. A press release from Mitchell’s office said, “Cullors will serve on behalf of the 2 million residents of the Second District,” which is represented by Mitchell and includes Watts, Compton, Inglewood, and Koreatown.
“Art is a powerful tool in helping to connect, envision and create a better world,” said Sup. Mitchell. “Patrisse has demonstrated her understanding of this and has experience using various mediums of art and community engagement to inspire and create change. Patrisse shares my commitment to equity and justice and will use her creativity to make arts and culture more accessible for the residents throughout the Second District.”
<a href="https://mitchell.lacounty.gov/appointment-of-patrisse-cullors-to-the-la-county-arts-commission/">According</a> to Mitchell’s office, “There are over 107 arts organizations that primarily serve Second District residents and are using a wide range of artistic mediums to address key social justice challenges that include: anti-recidivism, healing trauma, and dismantling systemic racism.”
Cullors has been creating art to <a href="http://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-c1-jail-activist-20140414-m-story.html">complement</a> her grassroots activism for at least seven years. During that time, she emerged as one of the most prominent organizers in Southern California and led numerous efforts and organizations demanding systemic change. The first <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/a-year-inside-the-black-lives-matter-movement-204982/">meeting</a> of what would become the Black Lives Matter Global Network took place at an L.A. art center called St. Elmo’s Village, known as a black artists’ community. <a href="http://www.laweekly.com/news/these-savvy-women-have-made-black-lives-matter-the-most-crucial-left-wing-movement-today-6252489">Street protest dances</a>, <a href="https://www.laweekly.com/news/the-faces-of-the-black-lives-matter-los-angeles-encampment-at-city-hall-7235806">poetry,</a> and <a href="http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-jailbeds-20171228-story.html">other artistic concepts</a> are often incorporated into her projects and demonstrations.
“Artists and cultural workers historically and presently play a significant role in shaping movements,” Cullors said in 2018 after she joined the faculty of the Social Justice and Community Organizing program at Arizona’s Prescott College. She created a course examining how social practice, cultural work, and art impact community organizing.
Cullors recently co-founded “a reimagined art gallery and studio located in the Second District that is dedicated to shifting the trauma-induced conditions of poverty and economic injustice through the lens of Inglewood and its community,” according to Mitchell’s office.
“We can create meaningful change by investing in our imaginations and collective skills, give dollars towards beautifying our communities with art that is for us and by us, and continue to educate and amplify what justice can look like if we first invest in ourselves,” said Cullors. “All of these areas of work are areas that the Department of Arts and Culture is also committed to, and I am very excited to join this collaboration as an Arts Commissioner.”
During a 2015 interview, Cullors said both she and fellow BLM co-founder Alicia Garza were &#8220;trained Marxists,&#8221; and that ideological theory had been influential in building the BLM movement.
Cullors is not the first Black Lives Matter leader appointed as an L.A. County commissioner.
Dr. Melina Abdullah, a professor at Cal State L.A. and lead organizer of BLM&#8217;s L.A. chapter, sat on the Human Relations Commission for four years. During her tenure, Abdullah <a href="https://wehoville.com/2018/10/23/la-county-human-relations-commission-pushes-for-info-on-investigation-into-gemmel-moores-death/">pushed the Sheriff&#8217;s Department</a> to reveal information about ongoing investigations, initiated hearings on community experiences with law enforcement, and was instrumental in replacing Columbus Day as an official County holiday with Indigenous Peoples&#8217; Day. Abdullah was appointed to the post in 2014 by then-L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, a Democrat who was recently indicted on federal corruption charges.

‘Trained Marxist’ BLM Co-Founder Appointed As A Los Angeles County Commissioner

On June 11, disgraced Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLM) co-founder Patrisse Cullors delivered a University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) virtual graduation speech. 
According to a <a href="https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ucla-commencement-2021-speakers-and-events-roundup">press release</a> from June 1, Cullors spoke at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs graduation. Other speakers included artist and social justice activist “Mr. Wash” and Democratic Representative Ted Lieu (CA). The school praised Cullors — a UCLA alumna and self-described “trained Marxist&#8221; — for her years in social justice activism. 
“Patrisse Cullors is at the heart — and the foundation — of a movement for human rights, social change, and genuine equality under the law,” Luskin Dean Gary Segura <a href="https://luskin.ucla.edu/black-lives-matter-pioneer-named-2021-commencement-speaker">said</a> in a statement. “Her work and the work of those who follow is way past due.”
The description of Cullors failed to acknowledge that she departed BLM after the <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/27/patrisse-cullors-black-lives-matter-california-2/">Daily Caller</a> reported that she funneled business to an art company, Trap Heals, led by the father of her only child. Experts condemned the arrangement and said that Cullors dealings raise “ethical and legal questions.”   
The Daily Caller reported that two other activist groups co-founded by Cullors also made payments to Trap Heals under her leadership. One of the groups, BLM PAC, shelled out $148,00 for Trap Heals to produce a live steam event on Cullors’ personal YouTube channel. 
BLM did not explain Cullors’ sudden departure, though top activists called on the organization to undergo an “independent investigation” into the group’s finances. Cullors <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ca-state-wire-george-floyd-philanthropy-race-and-ethnicity-0a89ec240a702537a3d89d281789adcf">called</a> the accurate reports against her “a smear campaign from a far-right group.” 
Cullors also fell under fire after the <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/inside-blm-co-founder-patrisse-khan-cullors-real-estate-buying-binge/">New York Post</a> reported that she had bought four “high-end” homes for $3.2 million in the United States alone. The BLM co-founder also eyed property in the Bahamas at a resort where Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods have homes. The luxury apartments are priced between $5-20 million. 
The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/inside-blm-co-founder-patrisse-khan-cullors-real-estate-buying-binge/">reported</a>: 
<blockquote>The self-described Marxist last month purchased a $1.4 million home on a secluded road a short drive from Malibu in Los Angeles, according to a report. The 2,370-square-foot property features ‘soaring ceilings, skylights, and plenty of windows’ with canyon views. The Topanga Canyon homestead, which includes two houses on a quarter-acre, is just one of three homes [Cullors] owns in the Los Angeles area, public records show. </blockquote>
BLM activists have condemned Cullors for profiting off of BLM. Hawk Newsome, the leader of Black Lives Matter Greater New York, told the New York Post that Cullors’ dealings placed doubt on the legitimacy of the BLM movement. 
“If you go around calling yourself a socialist, you have to ask how much of her own personal money is going to charitable causes,” Newsome said. “It’s really sad because it makes people doubt the validity of the movement and overlook the fact that it’s the people that carry this movement.” 
The father of Michael Brown, who was fatally shot by police in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri, signed on to a growing group of activists demanding accountability and transparency from BLM.

“The number of chapters that have aligned in support of our statement has nearly doubled,” said a statement from BLM 10 Plus, issued Friday. “Some of these chapters have made their own statements echoing not just our call to accountability but also our experiences as we sought transparency, democracy, and internal transformation for years.”</blockquote>

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, a once self-described &#8220;trained Marxist,&#8221; has reportedly put up $35,000 worth of fencing and an electric gate around her $1.4 million secluded Los Angeles home, where the population is reputedly less than 2% black.
As <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-35000-fencing-1-4m-home">highlighted</a> by Fox News, a neighbor who spoke to a subcontractor <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9672747/BLM-founder-Patrisse-Cullors-erects-35k-fence-new-1-4M-house-bought-CASH.html">told</a> DailyMail.com that the erected wooden fence around the pricey property, in addition to other &#8220;exterior improvements,&#8221; totaled up to around $35,000.

&#8220;It will have an electronic gate at the driveway portion, a walk up door, and call box, and other safety measures, cameras &#8211; you know, to keep the riff raff out,&#8221; the neighbor said.
DailyMail.com reported that &#8220;photos of the property reveal the fencing and gate project was near completion.&#8221;
On May 17, as Cullors was buried with backlash over her uncovered lavish living, the activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-resigns-amid-controversy">announced</a> her resignation from the BLM organization.
During a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCghDx5qN4s&amp;feature=youtu.be">2015 interview</a>, Cullors &#8220;said both she and fellow BLM co-founder Alicia Garza were &#8216;trained Marxists,&#8217; and that ideological theory had been influential in building the BLM movement,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trained-marxist-blm-co-founder-releases-youtube-video-to-set-the-record-straight">The Daily Wire</a> reported last year.

In a video posted in 2020, the BLM co-founder &#8220;set the record straight&#8221; about her ties to Marxism &#8212; kind of.
“Am I a Marxist? I am a lot of things,” she said in the video. “I do believe in Marxism. It’s a philosophy that I learned early on in my organizing career. We were taught to learn about the systems that were criticizing capitalism. We were taught to understand why there were philosophies that were criticizing capitalism.”

Cullors added that &#8220;everybody called Martin Luther King a communist…up until he was assassinated. &#8230; And now, everybody loves Dr. Martin Luther King. Nobody talks about his work as being work that was terrible or bad.”
As highlighted by The Daily Wire, Cullors also &#8220;acknowledged that communism has failed around the world but said, &#8216;so has capitalism.'&#8221;
Last month, Daily Wire host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/candace-owens-on-blm-founder-if-white-people-are-so-bad-why-doesnt-she-want-to-live-amongst-black-people">Candace Owens</a> blasted Cullors by questioning why the activist was purchasing pricey homes in predominately white neighborhoods if white people are her supposed “oppressors.”

Owens told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that some $25 million dollars raised by BLM were directed toward “building a black movement.”
“Apparently, the ‘black movement’ was Patrisse moving herself, a black woman, into other areas of the communities of people that she claims are oppressing black Americans,” Owens mocked.
“Why doesn’t she want to live amongst black people?” she asked. “Why is she choosing to move herself into an all-white neighborhood? These are important questions.”
Owens also mockingly commended Cullors for staying true to her “communist” values. “She has my respect because she’s unapologetic in her approach. She’s telling you what she is. She’s a Marxist. So Marxists steal money from other people and they enrich themselves until the people that they stole from are poor. And so she has stolen money from other people on the pretext of a lie that is Black Lives Matter.”
“I mean, you have to kind of appreciate the honesty; she’s not hiding by any means, you know. … She’s a communist through and through, and she’s been unbelievably unapologetic in her approach,” Owens added.

REPORT: Self-Described ‘Marxist’ BLM Co-Founder Erects $35,000 Fence, Electric Gate Around $1.4 Million Property 

The left-wing organization Black Lives Matter saw its popularity fall from unprecedented heights over the last year, not because Americans learned of its stated marxist agenda or corruption, but because of “increased politicization by elites” in the Republican Party, according to an in-depth profile from the legacy media.
One <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/22/opinion/blm-movement-protests-support.html">article</a> in a series The New York Times published on the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death on May 25, complained that “support among white Americans” for BLM as an organization “has proved both fickle and volatile,” which “contradicts the idea that the country underwent a racial reckoning.”
While “there has been a net increase in favorability toward Black Lives Matter since 2018,” it “peaked in the immediate aftermath of George Floyd’s death and then swiftly declined,” especially “among Republicans and white Americans, two large and often overlapping groups.”
The Times later admitted positive views of the BLM organization “did not last long” and “swiftly declined” across every “racial group.” Rather than blame this universal decline on the BLM organization, the Times blamed the GOP.
“The precipitous decline in support … mirrors the increased politicization of the issue by elites,” the article, by Jennifer Chudy and Hakeem Jefferson, continued. “In the days and weeks following Floyd’s death, Republican politicians quickly turned attention away from the actions of a murderous police officer to those individuals protesting the injustice.”
Did Republicans “pounce” on BLM, or did the organization — and the demonstrators protesting on its behalf — show their true colors?
BLM rioters injured police officers <a href="https://www.wdrb.com/news/national/police-chief-association-releases-number-of-officers-injured-nationwide-during-violent-protests/article_db673920-34ab-11eb-9431-a3e24704f86a.html">in 72%</a> of cities that held BLM protests across the U.S. and Canada, according to the Major Cities Chiefs Association. Looting, arson, and vandalism consumed whole neighborhoods in Minneapolis, Kenosha, Atlanta, and dozens of cities around the world. The property damage cost up to $2 billion and destroyed private churches and businesses. Worst of all, the riots <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/31/americans-killed-protests-political-unrest-acled">left</a> at least 25 people dead, including retired policeman David Dorn.
Support may have plummeted, too, as BLM’s agenda came to be known. Its “What We Believe” page, which has since been scrubbed, initially claimed that BLM <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/black-lives-matter-what-we-believe-page-disrupt-the-western-prescribed-nuclear-family-dismantle-cisgender-privilege">exists</a> to “disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure.”
Yet in the Times’ telling, this is just part of America’s growing indifference to Black Lives Matter.
The NYT’s article closed by urging leaders to see to it that “support for Black Lives Matter ultimately translates into policy” at the national level, “rather than the changing of hearts and minds” of American voters. It added helpfully that “protests” like the ones mentioned above “can pressure elites to pursue tangible legislative action.”
To that end, “coalition-building” between BLM and “Latinx activists” will “prove essential in counteracting the backlash toward B.L.M. observed among some whites and Republicans.”
The article is one of a series of statements in the left-wing media seeking to change the narrative about BLM’s riots and the resulting property damage this summer. Earlier in the week, New York Times deputy opinion editor Patrick Healy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/msnbc-people-only-think-blm-riots-were-violent-because-of-fox-news-newsmax-oan-bubble">protested</a> on “Morning Joe” that Republican voters only believe “false claims” — like the idea that Black Lives Matter is “Marxist” or that this summer’s protests were violent — because they “live in a Fox News/Newsmax/OAN bubble.”
Their well-coordinated rehabilitation efforts proved poorly timed, as they came just two days before BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-resigns-amid-controversy">stepped down</a> from the organization.
Cullors, who admitted BLM’s leaders are “trained Marxists,” had been caught spending more than <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/local-blm-chapters-accuse-national-foundation-of-hiding-untold-millions-of-dollars-in-donations-from-grassroots-activists">$3.2 million</a> on lavish homes. She <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-rails-against-white-supremacist-housing-market-weeks-after-splashing-out-millions-on-real-estate">claimed</a> she selflessly scarfed up prime real estate, because “homeownership has always been a way to disrupt white supremacy.”
Meanwhile, the BLM national office admitted to raking in around <a href="https://apnews.com/article/black-lives-matter-90-million-finances-8a80cad199f54c0c4b9e74283d27366f">$90 million</a> last summer, while local affiliates openly complained that few of the funds <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/local-blm-chapters-accuse-national-foundation-of-hiding-untold-millions-of-dollars-in-donations-from-grassroots-activists">trickled down</a> to them.
The legacy media tried to downplay the BLM violence engulfing American cities, insisting the protests were “mostly peaceful.” But since the inauguration of the Biden-Harris administration, the media have increasingly tried to justify the violence itself.
“Look, this fighting for democracy and against fascism thing has always been a messy business. And, yes, people get hurt, property gets damaged, and things get confusing,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cnn-host-praises-antifa-violence-yes-people-get-hurt">said</a> W. Kamau Bell in a segment glorifying Antifa on CNN’s “United Shades of America.” The New York Times’ article is just another part of this process.

New York Times Blames ‘GOP Elites’ For BLM’s Decline In Popularity Nationwide

Mothers of black men and women killed in several high-profile police-involved shootings are taking aim at the national Black Lives Matter organization and its outgoing co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, for profiting off the deaths of their loved ones and then ducking accountability.
The mothers of Tamir Rice, Breonna Taylor, and others are lashing out just as Cullors steps down, accusing both BLM and Cullors of using their children&#8217;s deaths to raise money but failing to pass the money on to black families in need.
“I don’t believe she is going anywhere,” said Samaria Rice, the mother of 12-year-old Rice, who was shot by Cleveland, Ohio, police who mistook his toy gun for a real weapon, <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/05/29/mothers-criticize-blm-activists-for-profiting-off-their-dead-sons/">told the New York Post.</a> “It’s all a facade. She’s only saying that to get the heat off her right now.”
Lisa Simpson, whose son was shot in Los Angeles, California, added. “Now she doesn’t have to show her accountability. She can just take the money and run.”
Cullors <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-resigns-amid-controversy">announced that she was stepping down from her position</a> at the helm of the Black Lives Matter movement on Friday, following news that she engaged in a &#8220;real estate binge&#8221; that saw the BLM co-founder splash out more than $3 million on four private residences.
The <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/06/patrisse-cullors-damon-turner-black-lives-matter-contract-payments/">Daily Caller also reported</a> that Cullors &#8220;had used her position as the charity’s leader to funnel business to an art company led by the father of her only child. Charity experts said BLM’s arrangement with the art company, Trap Heals, amounts to self-dealing and raises ethical and legal questions.&#8221;
Cullors, though, claims her resignation is not the result of these controversies, telling media that the allegations &#8220;were right-wing attacks that tried to discredit my character, and I don’t operate off of what the right thinks about me.”
Rice and Simpson, though, told the Post that Cullors has problems with more than just the right. Rice told the Post that &#8220;she first sought out Cullors to enlist the group’s help in re-opening a federal investigation into her son’s 2014 death. She said she exchanged a few emails with Cullors over the years, but had never managed a face-to-face meeting.&#8221; Simpson said that Black Lives Matter raised $5000 for her son&#8217;s funeral but never delivered the check.
In a statement posted in March, the two women lashed out at BLM for leaving them &#8220;clueless and broken.&#8221;
“We never hired them to be the representatives in the fight for justice for our dead loved ones murdered by the police,” the pair said. “The ‘activists’ have events in our cities and have not given us anything substantial for using our loved ones’ images and names on their flyers. We don’t want or need y’all parading in the streets accumulating donations, platforms, movie deals, etc. off the death of our loved ones, while the families and communities are left clueless and broken.”
Last month, Tamika Palmer, Breonna Taylor&#8217;s mother, echoed the pair in a social media post of her own.
&#8220;I have never personally dealt with BLM Louisville and personally have found them to be fraud (sic),” Palmer wrote.

Marxist Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors announced on Thursday that she is stepping down from the organization, which comes as she and the organization have faced widespread criticism over <a href="https://www.heritage.org/progressivism/commentary/five-months-blm-protestors-trashed-americas-cities-after-the-election">violent riots</a> that broke out across the U.S. last year, the group&#8217;s <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/black-lives-matter-disrupt-nuclear-family-website">extreme ideas</a>, and controversy over Cullors&#8217; lavish lifestyle.
Cullors <a href="https://apnews.com/article/ca-state-wire-george-floyd-philanthropy-race-and-ethnicity-0a89ec240a702537a3d89d281789adcf">claimed</a> that criticism from detractors did not factor into her decision to resign, adding, “Those were right-wing attacks that tried to discredit my character, and I don’t operate off of what the right thinks about me.”
Controversy over Cullors&#8217; lavish lifestyle erupted following a <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/inside-blm-co-founder-patrisse-khan-cullors-real-estate-buying-binge/">report</a> from the New York Post in early April:
<blockquote>As protests broke out across the country in the name of Black Lives Matter, the group’s co-founder went on a real estate buying binge, snagging four high-end homes for $3.2 million in the US alone, according to property records.
Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37, also eyed property in the Bahamas at an ultra-exclusive resort where Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods both have homes, The Post has learned. Luxury apartments and townhouses at the beachfront Albany resort outside Nassau are priced between $5 million and $20 million, according to a local agent.</blockquote>
The Post noted that Hawk Newsome, the head of Black Lives Matter Greater New York City, which is not affiliated with Khan-Cullors’ Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, responded to the story by calling for “an independent investigation” into the organization.
“If you go around calling yourself a socialist, you have to ask how much of her own personal money is going to charitable causes,” he said. “It’s really sad because it makes people doubt the validity of the movement and overlook the fact that it’s the people that carry this movement.”
The website for the consulting firm that Cullors owned and operated <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/04/12/patrisse-cullors-blm-firm-goes-offline/">went offline</a> shortly after news broke about her home buying spree.
Daily Caller investigative reporter Andrew Kerr highlighted how an L.A.-based jail reform group led by Cullors <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/04/13/patrisse-cullors-reform-la-jails/">paid</a> Cullors &#8220;in upwards of $20,000 a month&#8221; in 2019 and <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/04/26/reform-la-jails-malibu-beach-resort/">spent</a> tens of thousands of dollars for &#8220;meetings&#8221; at a luxury Malibu beach resort.
Kerr added the <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/27/patrisse-cullors-black-lives-matter-california-2/">following</a> upon the news of Cullors&#8217; resignation:

Charity <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/17/patrisse-cullors-black-lives-matter-california/">experts</a> said BLM’s arrangement with the art company, Trap Heals, amounts to self-dealing and raises ethical and legal questions. &#8230;
BLM PAC paid Trap Heals $148,000 in November to co-produce an election night live stream event on her personal YouTube channel that, according to industry experts, should have cost a fraction of that price to produce, the DCNF previously reported.
The BLM PAC live stream was so poorly produced and riddled with so many technical issues that a conservative watchdog group told the DCNF it is considering filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission over the “excessive payments.”</blockquote>

BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Resigns Amid Controversy

Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of Black Lives Matter and a self-described Marxist, blasted the American housing market as a bastion of &#8220;white supremacy&#8221; just weeks after splashing out millions on a real estate portfolio, snagging four high-end homes worth an estimated $3.2 million.
Cullors shared snippets from a National Public Radio documentary last week detailing the historical &#8220;racism&#8221; of the American housing market and suggesting that black homeownership &#8212; presumably including her own &#8212; was a way to &#8220;disrupt&#8221; white supremacy.
&#8220;Thank you @npr for highlighting the history of racism inside of the housing market and why Black homeownership has always been a way to disrupt white supremacy,&#8221; Cullors wrote on social media, sharing a link to the documentary.
The documentary, &#8220;We Hold These Truths,&#8221; the Daily Mail noted Sunday, addressed issues of structural racism within the American housing market and &#8220;looked at how black people have been systematically discriminated against by the real estate industry and government policy over decades,&#8221; and how black homeownership appears to have stagnated over the decades, despite significant efforts on the part of the federal government to press the issue and subsidize black home buyers.
&#8220;The report &#8211; which focuses on the experiences of black people living in Compton, California, revealed that just 41.8 percent of black households owned their homes. that rate is almost identical to the black homeownership level 50 years ago, in the early 70s,&#8221; the Daily Mail noted. &#8220;Experts say reasons for the lower homeownership rate ranges from historic underemployment and low wages to a recession-related foreclosure crisis that hit black communities particularly hard.&#8221;
Cullors may have cited the documentary in order to defend her own real estate portfolio and a home &#8220;buying binge,&#8221; which, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blm-co-founder-buys-1-4-million-home-in-virtually-all-white-area-black-commentators-slam-her">The Daily Wire reported</a>, saw the longtime racial justice advocate snapping up at least four homes worth a collective $3.2 million and reportedly exploring vacation property in an exclusive, private community in the Caribbean that caters to A-list Hollywood celebrities.
Cullors faced criticism from both conservatives, who called the self-described Marxist a hypocrite for so fully embracing the concept of private property, and from leftists, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fraud-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-blasted-over-real-estate-buying-binge">blasted Cullors as a &#8220;fraud</a>&#8221; for purchasing a $1.4 million home in a nearly all-white neighborhood near Los Angeles, California, and who pointed out that the national Black Lives Matter organization, which took in nearly $90 million just last year, has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/local-blm-chapters-accuse-national-foundation-of-hiding-untold-millions-of-dollars-in-donations-from-grassroots-activists">accused of &#8220;hiding&#8221; finances</a>, and of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/family-of-mike-brown-ferguson-protest-organizers-demand-20-million-from-black-lives-matter">failing to support black families</a> who lost children in police-related shootings, inspiring BLM&#8217;s national crusade.
The BLM co-founder previously defended her real estate buying binge as necessary to support the cause of racial justice.
“Sure, and I think that is a critique that is, um, wanting, and I say that because, um, the, the way that I live my life is in direct support to black people, including my black family members, first and foremost,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marxist-blm-co-founder-rejects-accusations-of-real-estate-buying-binge-hypocrisy-saying-i-have-a-child">Cullors said in an interview with Marc Lamont Hill last month</a>. “And, for so many black folks who are able to invest in themselves and their community, they choose to invest in their family, and that’s what I have chosen to do. I have a child, I have a brother that has severe mental illness who I take care of, I support my mother, and I support many other family members of mine.&#8221;
