NASA is cutting short the Crew-11 mission aboard the International Space Station due to a crewmember&#8217;s medical issue, and canceling the first spacewalk of the year that was originally planned for Thursday.
“I have come to the decision that it&#8217;s in the best interest of our astronauts to return Crew-11 ahead of their planned departure,” NASA administrator Jared Isaacman said Thursday in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffcV3jCwwPk">press conference</a>, adding that their return would take place “in the coming days.”
The space agency released no further details on the name of the crewmember or of the medical situation, but reiterated that the astronaut is now fully stable.
Dr. James Polk, NASA’s chief health and medical officer, said, “It’s not an emergency evacuation, but we are erring on the side of caution for the crew member.”
The spacewalk was to be performed by American astronauts Mike Fincke and Zena Cardman, who would exit the orbiting lab for almost 7 hours and &#8220;finish preparing a power channel where a new solar array is set to be installed on the ISS,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.livescience.com/space/space-exploration/nasa-cancels-spacewalk-and-considers-early-crew-return-from-iss-due-to-medical-issues">Live Science</a>. It would have been Cardman&#8217;s first spacewalk, and Fincke&#8217;s ninth.
The other two astronauts were Japan’s Kimiya Yui and Russia’s Oleg Platonov.
The American-Japanese-Russian crew first arrived on the ISS in August 2025 and was scheduled for at least a sixth-month stay. The group was then supposed to be replaced with Crew-12 in mid-February, but this is now up in the air due to the early departure. Isaacman said they may &#8220;potentially pull [the crew] forward.&#8221;
&#8220;It is unclear what returning Crew-11 home early would mean for the ISS, as such changes to the usual rotation are highly unusual,&#8221; Live Science reported.
There are also three other astronauts currently living on the space station who launched from a Russian Soyuz spacecraft in November and are due back to Earth in the summer.

Amanda Nguyen, one of the women aboard the so-called first female space flight, says she experienced depression due to the “tsunami of harassment” following the highly publicized Blue Origin ride.
Besides Nguyen, pop singer Katy Perry, CBS anchor Gayle King, and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez were among the six women who flew to the edge of space on the Amazon founder’s Blue Origin spacecraft in April. Their flight was touted as historic and important by many major outlets, but critics mocked the circus surrounding the 11-minute space tourism flight.
Nguyen, a bioastronautics research scientist, said backlash to the flight affected both her career and mental health. The 34-year-old posted about it on her Instagram on Tuesday, describing it as “another dream turned into a nightmare.”
She said the news coverage and social media reactions were “unprecedented,” and argued that even a “small fraction of negativity becomes staggering.” Nguyen also noted that her accomplishment of becoming the first Vietnamese woman in space was “buried under an avalanche of misogyny.”

Blue Origin is a private space company founded in 2000 by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The all-female space flight was criticized by social media users and celebrities for being over-promoted for what it turned out to be.
Actress Olivia Munn said as much on an episode of “Today with Jenna and Friends,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blue-origin-all-female-crew-including-katy-perry-launches-into-space">reported</a>.
“What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous,” Munn said. “Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”

SpaceX has informed investors and representatives of financial institutions that it plans to pursue an initial public offering in the second half of next year, the Information reported on Friday, citing two people familiar with the discussions.
The rocket-maker, founded by Elon Musk, is considering a public listing of the entire company, including Starlink, its internet satellite service, according to the report.
Musk had said in 2020 that SpaceX planned to list Starlink several years in the future, once its revenue growth became smooth and predictable.
SpaceX did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
The news of the potential IPO follows a media report that said SpaceX is kicking off a secondary share sale that would value the rocket-maker at $800 billion, pitting it against OpenAI for the title of the most valuable private company.
SpaceX&#8217;s finance chief, Bret Johnsen, told investors about the sale in recent days, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The new potential valuation is double the $400 billion value it fetched in a recent secondary share sale.

The $800 billion valuation would put SpaceX ahead of ChatGPT-parent OpenAI, which is valued at $500 billion as of October, making it the most valuable privately held company in the world, according to Crunchbase data.
Separately, Bloomberg News on Friday reported that SpaceX is preparing to sell insider shares that could include a per-share price of around $300, which would value the company at roughly $560 billion.
Several billionaires and private firms, including SpaceX and Jeff Bezos&#8217; Blue Origin, are fueling a new space race in the U.S., pouring money into rockets, satellites and lunar missions.

Scientists may have <a href="https://www.space.com/astronomy/black-holes/have-gravitational-waves-provided-the-first-hint-of-primordial-black-holes-born-during-the-big-bang">detected</a> the first tantalizing hint of primordial black holes, which are thought to have formed in the initial moments after the Big Bang.
The excitement centers on a cosmic gravitational-wave signal recorded on November 12, 2025, when the LIGO/Virgo/KAGRA (LVK) network issued an automated alert for an unusual event. Unlike the hundreds of black hole and neutron-star mergers routinely observed since 2015, this signal appeared to involve at least one object far too light to be any known stellar remnant.
Ordinary black holes form when massive stars collapse, and neutron stars also arise from stellar cores; both types of objects have masses roughly equal to or greater than the Sun. The November 12 signal instead pointed to a sub-solar-mass compact object, something astrophysics cannot easily explain.
This has led to speculation that the lighter component might be a primordial black hole, a long-theorized relic born directly from density fluctuations in the ultra-hot plasma of the early universe — long before stars existed. These exotic objects could span a huge mass range: from far lighter than a paperclip to hundreds of thousands of solar masses.
If they exist, primordial black holes could influence cosmic evolution and even account for dark matter, the mysterious invisible substance that makes up most of the universe’s mass but does not interact with light.
The scientific reaction, however, remains cautious. LIGO member Christopher Berry <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-15344573/Scientists-primordial-black-holes-big-bang.html">highlighted</a> the event as a potential subsolar source but emphasized the possibility of a false alarm. For an event this unusual, the estimated false-alarm rate — about once every four years — is too high to claim a discovery. Noise artifacts often mimic faint or atypical gravitational-wave signals. Researchers are searching for any accompanying electromagnetic flash, but the localization region spans an enormous patch of sky, making such follow-up nearly impossible.
Even so, the possibility is captivating because primordial black holes have never been observed despite decades of theoretical work. Some could have evaporated through Hawking radiation early in cosmic history, while larger ones might survive today. A merger between two such objects would produce exactly the kind of signal LIGO and Virgo detected. Yet without additional events, scientists may never be certain whether S251112cm was real or merely a glitch.
Experts say the best path forward is to wait for more detections — something future upgrades to LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA are expected to enable. If similar signals appear, they could provide the first direct evidence for primordial black holes and offer crucial clues to the nature of dark matter.

Blue Origin, billionaire Jeff Bezos’ space company, joined a very small club on Thursday when it completed its first reusable rocket booster reentry and landing.
The launch, which was Blue Origin’s first for a paying customer, sent two satellites into space for NASA. Those satellites are headed toward Mars to study the impacts of solar wind on the Red Planet, among other things.
The New Glenn rocket booster then reentered the atmosphere and successfully touched down on a floating landing pad.

Blue Origin’s successful reentry and landing puts the company on more equal footing with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which pioneered reusable rocket technology and had its first successful reentry and landing in 2015.
Since then, SpaceX has landed and recovered many boosters, and has caught three with the “chopsticks,” a pair of giant mechanical arms.
In 2023, Blue Origin won a $3.4 billion contract with NASA to develop the &#8220;human landing system&#8221; for the space agency&#8217;s Artemis V mission.
&#8220;Blue Origin will design, develop, test, and verify its Blue Moon lander to meet NASA’s human landing system requirements for recurring astronaut expeditions to the lunar surface, including docking with Gateway, a space station where crew transfer in lunar orbit,&#8221; NASA <a href="https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-selects-blue-origin-as-second-artemis-lunar-lander-provider/">said</a> in a press release.

The strike targeted top Hamas officials who have been living and operating out of Qatar, which has served as a protected refuge for the terror group&#8217;s leadership. It appears to be the first time Israel has struck Hamas officials inside the country. Qatar condemned the attack as a &#8220;blatant violation of all international laws and norms.&#8221; The White House said the U.S. was notified of the attack ahead of time and, in turn, informed Qatar. President Trump &#8220;believes this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity for peace,&#8221; said Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The strike came shortly after Hamas rejected a new peace proposal from the Trump administration, calling it a &#8220;humiliating surrender document.&#8221; The proposal would have required Hamas to release all remaining hostages in exchange for Israel releasing thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
The events follow a separate Hamas terror attack in Jerusalem on Monday that killed six people and wounded 12 others.

Topline: The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Tuesday announced that it had overcounted U.S. jobs by nearly one million last year, the largest downward revision in American history, confirming President Trump’s claims that the economy he inherited was far weaker than reported.
In its annual revision, the BLS announced that from March 2024 to March 2025, the economy added 910,000 fewer jobs than was initially reported. The more than 50% downward revision means the economy was adding only 70,000 jobs per month during that period, not 147,000. The White House said the news makes it &#8220;very clear that President Trump inherited a much worse economy &#8230; than ever reported&#8221; and proves that the Federal Reserve&#8217;s interest rate policy has been &#8220;far too restrictive.&#8221;
The massive revision reinforces the president&#8217;s push to overhaul the BLS, an agency he has accused of producing inaccurate data. &#8220;Much like the CDC, everything is wrong with the Bureau of Labor Statistics,&#8221; said Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), who is in charge of confirming Trump&#8217;s nominee to lead the agency. &#8220;We need someone &#8230; to come in there and turn that place upside down.&#8221;
The shocking report makes it much more likely that the Fed will finally cut interest rates later this month, a move President Trump has been demanding for months.

Tuesday’s Congressional hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), titled “Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection,” featured extraordinary testimony — including personal encounters with airborne objects of unknown origin.
Perhaps the most striking moment came not from spoken testimony, but from a newly revealed video presented by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO). The footage shows what appears to be an AGM-114 Hellfire missile fired from an MQ-9 Reaper drone at an orb-shaped UFO. Shockingly, the missile appears to bounce off the object, causing little to no damage, as the orb continues traveling. The video was reportedly recorded in October 2024 off the coast of Yemen.
Burlison noted that he had been “given” the video.
Witnesses included U.S. Air Force veterans Jeffrey Nuccetelli and Dylan Borland, Chief Alexandro Wiggins, and investigative journalist George Knapp.
Knapp added that while he had discussed the footage on a podcast, he had not seen it before the hearing. He claimed, “There are servers where there’s a whole bank of these kinds of videos that Congress has not been allowed to see, that the public hasn’t been allowed to see.”
“That’s a Hellfire missile smacking into that UFO, and just bounced right off — and it kept going,” he said.
Burlison replied: “It kept going, and it looks like the debris was taken with it.” The congressman added that while he wasn’t going “to speculate” on the exact nature of the object, he wondered why such information is being withheld from Congress.
Later in the hearing, Chair Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) asked the witnesses — while the missile video played in the background — whether they were “aware of anything in the United States government arsenal that can split a Hellfire missile like this?”
Two witnesses responded in the negative, while Borland stated he would prefer to answer that question in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility). Luna then followed up, asking if the video “scared” any of them. Three witnesses answered “yes,” though Borland began to caveat before being cut off.

The most compelling testimony from the hearing came from former Military Police Officer Jeffrey Nuccetelli and former Geospatial Intelligence Specialist Dylan Borland. Nuccetelli described multiple UFO incursions at Vandenberg Air Force Base, as well as his own personal sighting.
“Each incident was witnessed by multiple personnel, documented, investigated, and reported up the chain of command,” Nuccetelli said. He noted that official Air Force records pertaining to a 2003 sighting by Boeing contractors of a “massive, glowing red square silently hovering above two missile defense sites” are held by the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) and the FBI.
Among several incidents, Nuccetelli described one involving a “massive triangular craft, larger than a football field that hovered silently” before accelerating away “at impossible speed.”
He also detailed a personal encounter: “I was off-duty, sitting in my backyard with two other police officers, and we noticed what first appeared to be a satellite in orbit — but it wasn’t acting like a satellite.”
The object, he said, maneuvered oddly before “reappeared 200 feet over my house.” He described it as a “30-foot diameter sphere of light” that soon flew away and vanished into the night sky.
Borland testified about a 2012 encounter in which he saw “an approximately 100-foot equilateral triangle take off from near the NASA hangar on the base.” He said the object interfered with his cell phone, made no sound, and “the material it was made of appeared fluid or dynamic.”
According to Borland, the craft hovered for several minutes before ascending rapidly to “commercial jet level in seconds, displaying zero kinetic disturbance, sound, or wind displacement.”
He also revealed that years later, he was made privy to “classified information from the UAP legacy crash retrieval program through a sensitive position I held within a Special Access Program.”
Borland claimed he has faced severe retaliation, including “denial of work,” “forged and manipulated employment documents, workplace harassment,” and “manipulation of my security clearance by certain agencies, blocking, delaying, and ultimately removing my ability to be employed within the IC.” He said the retaliation he and others experienced drove him to become a whistleblower.
Several lawmakers highlighted the importance of Rep. Tim Burchett’s proposed legislation, the UAP Whistleblower Protection Act (H.R. 5060), as well as the broader UAP Disclosure Act, which has repeatedly been stymied in Congress.
While perhaps not as headline-grabbing as the July 2023 testimony of whistleblower David Grusch, Tuesday’s hearing is likely to sustain public interest and continue to build momentum for UAP transparency in the political arena.

A Tuesday hearing on UFOs falls in the shadow of the blockbuster testimony delivered in July 2023 by whistleblower David Grusch.
Grusch claimed that, according to numerous sources he interviewed, both the U.S. government and private aerospace firms are in possession of exotic craft and materials. These public and private entities have even recovered “biologics,” non-human organisms, according to Grusch.
The September 9 <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/restoring-public-trust-through-uap-transparency-and-whistleblower-protection/">congressional hearing</a> on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena — more commonly known as UFOs — is titled “Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection.”
Ahead of the event, The Daily Wire spoke with Congressman Eric Burlison, a Republican representing Missouri’s 7th Congressional District, who has emerged as a key figure in the House’s disclosure efforts.
When asked what this hearing could achieve, Burlison shared that at least two witnesses have had firsthand encounters, marking a departure from previous hearings where the most sensational claims were based on secondhand accounts.
The witnesses, identified by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, include U.S. Air Force veterans Jeffrey Nuccetelli and Dylan Borland, Chief Alexandro Wiggins, and investigative journalist George Knapp.
While none of the witnesses are believed to have worked directly for “The Program” — a term referring to alleged Special Access Programs handling recovered exotic materials — Burlison said he is actively seeking individuals who have. He noted, however, that some potential witnesses are fearful about coming forward publicly.
Although Burlison has not faced direct threats or intimidation from lawmakers or members of the Intelligence Community, he said he has been cautioned by allies regarding &#8220;specific people to watch out for.&#8221;
Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, another key figure in the disclosure movement, recently introduced the UAP Whistleblower Protection Act (<a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/5060/text?s=1&amp;r=4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">H.R. 5060</a>). The bill aims to “provide whistleblower protections to Federal personnel for disclosing the use of Federal taxpayer funds to evaluate or research unidentified anomalous phenomenon material, and for other purposes.”
Burlison noted that the bill is part of a broader effort being made to “grant amnesty to people who are willing to come forward just so long as they&#8217;re speaking the truth,” which would “create an atmosphere that provides safety.”
“Because, from what I&#8217;ve heard, some of the reasons why people are not willing to come forward is because they would be admitting to criminal activity,” Burlison said.
Beyond the hearing itself, Burlison emphasized the importance of a series of official letters being prepared with the assistance of David Grusch &#8212; who now works for the congressman. These interrogatory letters, which carry “significant weight,” will be sent to “different entities to get further information.”
“I want people to know, regardless of how the hearing goes, to me, the most important thing that&#8217;s going to come out of it is the interrogatory letters that we will be dropping at the time of the hearing.”
The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, September 9, and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Currently, NASA’s missions remain in low-Earth orbit.

For years, we’ve been told that science made God unnecessary.
Atheism had won. God was for the weak-minded. Rational people read Richard Dawkins and watched Neil deGrasse Tyson and Alex O’Connor. Religion, they said, was just a fairy tale.
But as science progresses, that story is beginning to unravel.
Far from removing the need for a Creator, modern physics increasingly points toward one.
Why? Because the deeper scientists dig into the universe’s fundamental laws, the more they encounter a startling truth: the universe appears to be fine-tuned. Not vaguely-tuned, but astonishingly, exquisitely, fine-tuned.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. To understand what fine-tuning actually means, let’s first look at how this discovery came about.
At the foundations of our universe, physicists discovered about 25 physical constants — unchanging numbers that define the structure of reality. You might not have heard of numbers like the fine-structure constant or the cosmological constant, but they are crucial. They determine how atoms hold together, how stars form, and how fast the universe expands.
The big question was, how can physicists explain these strange numbers? Before the discovery of fine-tuning, physicists had two unsatisfying possibilities: either the constants are just brute facts with no explanation, or some deeper law might eventually explain all their seemingly random values.
Since these solutions were neither satisfying nor plausible, Richard Feynman — one of the most celebrated physicists of his time — called explaining the constants “one of the greatest damn mysteries of physics.”
Then came fine-tuning.
Scientists slowly realized that if some of these constants were even slightly different, the universe would be completely chaotic, lacking all complexity and structure. No galaxies, no chemistry, no life. It’s almost like the values of the constants have a purpose in producing our complex universe.
Take the cosmological constant. Its value is about 10 to the power of negative 122. That’s a decimal point followed by 121 zeros and then a 1. If it were even a bit lower or higher, the universe would either collapse back on itself or expand so rapidly that no structures would ever form.
Does that seem like a cosmic accident? No one — not even atheist physicists — thinks that. It’s a bit like finding a safe with a trillion-digit combination already set perfectly. That’s not something anyone can reasonably attribute to blind chance.
Once fine-tuning was discovered, the two earlier explanations — that the constants are brute, necessary facts or the result of an unknown deeper law — became nearly impossible to defend. These ideas were only somewhat plausible back when the constants seemed arbitrary, and the challenge was simply to explain their mysterious values. But neither pure necessity nor blind mathematical inevitability accounts for why the constants fall exactly where they do. To continue placing faith in those explanations, despite what fine-tuning reveals, is to ignore the weight of the new evidence.
So, what’s the alternative?
One explanation is <a href="https://www.physicstogod.com/fine-tuning-argument-for-god" target="_blank" rel="noopener">straightforward</a>: the universe is fine-tuned because it has a fine-tuner. An intelligent Creator set the parameters needed for generating a complex and ordered universe that’s full of atoms, molecules, planets, stars, galaxies, and life.
At this point, critics often respond: “You’re just using God to fill in the gaps! That’s the old ‘God of the gaps’ fallacy.”
But that misses the point. This isn’t about ignorance. It isn’t a case of “We don’t know, so it must be God.” This is all about what we do know. We know the values of the constants. We know they are fine-tuned. And we know that when a system is exquisitely calibrated, it suggests an intelligent calibrator. That’s not filling a gap in our knowledge — it’s drawing a clear inference from established scientific evidence.
Yet, for many in the scientific community, the idea of God isn’t seen as a legitimate option — not because science rules it out, but because of prior philosophical prejudices. So, instead, they turn to an alternative: the multiverse.
The multiverse hypothesis posits an infinite number of unobservable universes, each with different physical laws and constants. In such a scenario, anything that can happen does happen — somewhere. Of course, in an infinite multiverse, there would be at least one universe with just the right conditions for life — and that’s the one we happen to observe. After all, we couldn’t exist in any of the countless, lifeless universes where complexity never forms.
This is sometimes presented as a clever way to explain fine-tuning without God. But that impression fades once you consider what an infinite multiverse actually implies.
Physicist Alan Guth said it best: “Anything that can happen will happen; in fact, it will happen an infinite number of times.” So, in an infinite multiverse, there are universes where George Washington is still alive. Where you’re president. Where unicorns are real. Where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs exist.
We’re not joking. That’s what the theory implies.
After all, in an infinite collection of universes, every possible arrangement of atoms must exist somewhere. With infinite universes, science begins to blur into science fiction.
The trouble is, no one has ever observed another universe. By definition, an infinite multiverse is untestable, unfalsifiable, and unobservable. It’s not a scientific theory in the usual sense — it’s philosophical speculation dressed up as science, aimed at avoiding the clear implications of fine-tuning. And that’s just the beginning. From here, the <a href="https://www.physicstogod.com/is-the-multiverse-real" target="_blank" rel="noopener">problems with the multiverse</a> only get worse.
So, let’s consider where this leaves us.
On one side, theists point to the measurable, precise fine-tuning of nature’s constants. We observe one universe — ours — and it appears finely set up for atoms, planets, stars, and life. On the other side, atheists propose an infinite number of unobservable universes to avoid the possibility that ours was fine-tuned.
Now, ask yourself: which seems more rational?
Science has brought us to a turning point. The fine-tuning argument is no relic of ancient theology. It’s a modern, scientifically-grounded case for an intelligent cause of the universe. The resistance it provokes stems not from a lack of evidence, but from discomfort with what the evidence implies.
In the end, modern physics offers us a glimpse into the deep structure of reality. And what we find is not chaos, but extraordinary order and purpose. The universe is fine-tuned. Fine-tuning points to a Fine-Tuner. If we’re serious about science, we must be equally serious about following the evidence wherever it leads — even if it <a href="https://www.physicstogod.com/3-proofs-of-god-from-science" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leads us directly to God</a>.

Scientists announced yesterday the strongest evidence yet for possible alien life after detecting gases in a distant planet&#8217;s atmosphere that, on Earth, are only produced by living organisms.
The James Webb Space Telescope detected dimethyl sulfide and dimethyl disulfide in the atmosphere of planet K2-18 b, according to a study published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters and <a href="https://www.reuters.com/science/scientists-find-strongest-evidence-yet-life-an-alien-planet-2025-04-16/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> by Reuters.
These gases are produced on Earth exclusively by biological processes, primarily by algae.
Located approximately 124 light-years from Earth, K2-18 b is 8.6 times Earth&#8217;s mass and orbits in the &#8220;habitable zone&#8221; of a red dwarf star where liquid water could exist.
The gases were detected with a 99.7% confidence level, meaning there&#8217;s still a 0.3% chance the observation could be a statistical fluke.
&#8220;This is a transformational moment in the search for life beyond the solar system,&#8221; said astrophysicist Nikku Madhusudhan of Cambridge University, who led the study. &#8220;We have entered the era of observational astrobiology.&#8221;
Scientists stress this finding should be viewed cautiously, with Madhusudhan noting it&#8217;s &#8220;in no one&#8217;s interest to claim prematurely that we have detected life.&#8221; Additional observations are needed to rule out non-biological explanations.
The planet could potentially be a &#8220;hycean world&#8221; – covered by a liquid water ocean with a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.
&#8220;The only scenario that currently explains all the data obtained so far is one where K2-18 b is a hycean world teeming with life,&#8221; Madhusudhan explained.
The research team&#8217;s detection involved analyzing starlight passing through K2-18 b&#8217;s atmosphere using Webb&#8217;s highly sensitive instruments.
The gases were detected at concentrations &#8220;thousands of times higher than their concentrations in the Earth&#8217;s atmosphere, and cannot be explained without biological activity based on existing knowledge,&#8221; according to Madhusudhan.
Christopher Glein, principal scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Texas, emphasized the need for caution when interpreting these results.
&#8220;The rich data from K2-18 b make it a tantalizing world,&#8221; said Glein. &#8220;Yet, we must be very careful to test the data as thoroughly as possible.&#8221;
To conclusively determine whether these gases indicate the presence of life, scientists plan to conduct additional observations.
&#8220;First we need to repeat the observations two to three times to make sure the signal we are seeing is robust and to increase the detection significance,&#8221; Madhusudhan explained, noting that researchers aim to reduce the odds of a statistical fluke to below one in a million.
This detection represents what Madhusudhan calls a &#8220;transformational moment&#8221; in our search for extraterrestrial life, moving humanity closer to answering whether we are alone in the universe – a question that has fascinated mankind for millennia.

Go to space or go to Blue Origin and see what they do &#8230; and then come back and say, ‘This is a terrible thing,'&#8221; King continued, arguing that if there were more demand for commercial space flights, the cost of such a flight would eventually come down.
King went on to complain about the underlying sexist tone of those referring to the eight-minute space flight as &#8220;a ride,&#8221; saying, &#8220;You never see a man, a male astronaut, who’s going up in space and they say, ‘Oh, he took a ride.’ … It’s always referred to as a flight or a journey, so I feel that’s a little disrespectful to what the mission was and the work that Blue Origin does.&#8221;
