Since 2015, President Trump has obviously become very popular because of his stance on illegal immigration.
He said what most people aren&#8217;t willing to say: Illegal immigrants should go home. They don&#8217;t have a place in the country.
And the Left went nuts.
They are still going nuts over the fact that the president of the United States has single-handedly shut the southern border, and this means that apparently he&#8217;s bad and racist and all the rest.
But most Americans don&#8217;t believe that about Trump. Most Americans look at illegal immigrant crime and say President Trump is right.
The latest case in point: According to the Department of Homeland Security, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom and his continued support for sanctuary policies are to blame for an illegal immigrant trucker who was given a driver&#8217;s license in California, then charged with killing three Americans in Florida when making an illegal U-turn.
Harjinder Singh entered the U.S. illegally in 2018 and then the state of California decided to give him a driver&#8217;s license. He was driving a semi in St. Lucie County, Florida, and he made an illegal U-turn that left three Americans dead.
Newsom was held responsible for Singh getting a driver’s license. He immediately responded that it was the fault of the Trump administration.
The issue is that he only had a commercial driver&#8217;s license despite being an illegal alien, thanks to a law passed in 2013 and then expanded by Gavin Newsom in 2022.
DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin <a href="https://x.com/TriciaOhio/status/1957503043710181746">wrote</a>, “Harjinder Singh is in the United States illegally, and his work authorization was rejected under the Trump administration on September 14, 2020. It was later approved under the Biden administration, June 9th, 2021. The state of California issues commercial driver&#8217;s licenses. There is no national commercial driver&#8217;s license.&#8221;
It turns out that the illegal immigrant trucker allegedly responsible for all of this failed an English language proficiency test and also failed to accurately identify highway traffic signs, according to the Department of Transportation.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy <a href="https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/trumps-transportation-secretary-announces-investigation-deadly-florida-truck-crash">said</a>, “If states had followed the rules, his driver would never have been behind the wheel and three precious lives would still be with us. This crash was a preventable tragedy, directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by despicable failures. Non-enforcement and radical immigration policies have turned the trucking industry into a lawless frontier, resulting in unqualified foreign drivers improperly acquiring licenses to operate 40-ton vehicles.”
Authoritative estimates have placed California&#8217;s undocumented immigrant population in the range of 2 million. As far as driver&#8217;s licenses, California has, since 2015, allowed illegal immigrants to obtain driver&#8217;s licenses. By 2023, the California Department of Motor Vehicles had issued nearly 1.2 million original <a href="https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/assembly-bill-ab-60-driver-licenses/">AB 60</a> driver&#8217;s licenses to undocumented immigrants.
That&#8217;s crazy. So 1.2 million illegal immigrants are roaming around the United States with California driver&#8217;s licenses.

But this is part and parcel of a broader Democratic policy that suggests that somehow illegal immigration is a positive good for the United States, and you are inhumane or bad if you say that immigrants should not be in the United States.
In essence, this comes down to a question that&#8217;s increasingly being asked online: What ought an American to be? What is an American?
If you go all the way back to the American founding, the definition of an American was to be a natural-born citizen of the United States. There were real holes in the citizenship definition because it didn&#8217;t include, for example, black slaves in the South.
But the basic predicate for citizenship was that you were assimilating to the dominant culture of the United States, an Anglo-American culture, and you abided by the applicable law in your state, and you were not a drain on the people around you.
The history of the United States was successive waves of immigrants who were then assimilated into the dominant majority culture. Those successive waves of immigrants could be welcomed because there was no facilitation of inability to speak English. There was no facilitation of inability or unwillingness to assimilate to the dominant adherence to law.
My great-great grandparents came to the United States in the early 20th century. They spoke Yiddish, but they and their families immediately stopped speaking Yiddish as fast as possible so that they could actually immerse themselves in the American culture. That was true for the Irish, it was true for the Germans, it was true for the Italians, and it was true for many Hispanics.
And then something changed. And what changed was a gigantic welfare system, accompanied by a view of multiculturalism that suggested that not only ought you bring your home foods and some of your home traditions, but that your culture need not in any way mesh or assimilate with dominant traditions of law or believing in things like free speech or private property, or the constitutional government of the United States. The United States was to be the repository of any people who wished to come here, even if those people were just coming here to take advantage of the system itself.
That meant lower rates of assimilation. It also meant that people came here who didn&#8217;t speak English, couldn&#8217;t read road signs, were immediately entered into the stream of commerce, and then sometimes did things like commit crimes.
But if you say no to this, you are the problem.
What you actually want is people coming to the United States and becoming part of the American experiment by accepting the American experiment, by learning the language and becoming part of the culture, by believing in the creed of the Declaration of Independence.
But if you say those things, then many members of the Left will say, that&#8217;s wrong, that&#8217;s bad, that&#8217;s racist, because what you actually need are segmented populations that don&#8217;t actually believe in the American experiment. They don&#8217;t just bring their food and their customs; they also reject the dominant customs and heritage and law and legal framework of the United States.

That’s led to identity politics on the Left and to a concomitant rise of a new identity politics on the Right, which says, “If we are going to do various ethnic cliques in a ‘multicultural country,’ then what we really ought to do is have a white ethnic clique as a form of identity politics.”
None of this is good.
Until we get back to accepting legal immigrants but demanding that they know our laws, accept our laws and live by them, know our Declaration of Independence and Constitution and live by them, we are headed for the cliff.

As the media and Democrats fulminate over President Trump&#8217;s supposed capitulation to Vladimir Putin, precisely the opposite seems to be happening.
But leave it to the media and the Left to deliberately misinterpret what is going on.
On Monday, President Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/with-historic-zelensky-visit-donald-trump-moves-the-world-one-step-closer-to-peace?author=Mary+Margaret+Olohan&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=14&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=With+Historic+Zelensky+Visit%2C+Donald+Trump+Moves+The+World+One+Step+Closer+To+Peace">met with</a> Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, along with a bunch of European leaders.
Everything seems to be moving toward Ukrainian territorial concessions in return for serious security guarantees for Ukraine.
Those guarantees would presumably be some form of European trigger force in Ukraine that would implicate a mutual defense pact. It wouldn&#8217;t exactly be NATO, but it would be NATO-lite. The problem is that to be a credible deterrent, you need tens of thousands of troops.
The second possibility is a trip-wire force that would trigger the possibility of the mutual defense coming into effect if Russia were to walk across the border.
A third possibility would be a kind of observer force, perhaps a few hundred troops or so, to report on incoming military action, which could be accomplished with satellites and ground cameras.
Of course, all of this flies in the face of the fact that Russia wants to leave Ukraine utterly defenseless and prostrate before them.
But here’s the thing: The fact that President Trump is willing to hold Russia&#8217;s feet to the fire by even talking about these kinds of significant security guarantees is a major move from the president, and pretending that it&#8217;s a pro-Russia move is silly. If there were a significant security guarantee, a sort of NATO-lite and Article Five-lite approach to Ukraine in exchange for territorial concessions in Donbas, that would be a masterstroke from the president of the United States, because otherwise this war just keeps going.
All of Trump’s forward movement on this issue is to the great consternation of both the media and the Democrats, who claim that Donald Trump was a Putin catspaw. They thought that Trump was going to welcome Zelensky to the White House yesterday by berating him and telling him he needed to basically surrender in the war: No security guarantees, no economic health, no nothing.
None of that happened. In fact, it was pretty warm. You could see Trump and Zelensky getting along. This was not an antagonistic meeting.

One of the things that Zelensky also said is that as part of any of the security guarantees put forward by Europe and the United States, Ukraine would buy $90 billion in American weapons via Europe. The rest of the NATO nations and the United States military would benefit from it. The defense industries in the United States would end up benefiting from that. He expressed gratitude to both President Trump as well as the EU leaders for their hard work on the possibility of a peace deal.
There are still a lot of steps to go. We still have to see whether Vladimir Putin actually is interested in ending the war in any serious way.
As I’ve said before, a good thing about President Trump is that he&#8217;s heterodox in his views, which means he does very creative things. But if things don&#8217;t happen, he will respond. He&#8217;s responsive. He doesn&#8217;t just stick with an idea, no matter what.
The idea that endless diplomacy is something that President Trump is going to pursue here is not true. If Russia does not come to the table, if he feels that Putin is jacking him around again, he&#8217;ll walk away. He is not going to be bullied by Vladimir Putin here.
Trump remains optimistic, saying that he thinks that Putin wants to make a deal.
For the media and the Left to pretend that somehow Trump is doing Putin&#8217;s work here is to ignore everything that&#8217;s actually going on in favor of a pre-established narrative.

Even Michael McFaul, who was President Obama&#8217;s Russian ambassador, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5459351-mcfaul-praises-trump-peace-efforts/">admitted</a> that Trump is actually doing a pretty good job here. “I think this was a very positive meeting,” he said. “And whoever had the idea to bring all these European leaders together, in addition to President Zelensky, that was a brilliant, brilliant idea. And having it come so quickly after Alaska was also very important because now they&#8217;ve changed the talking points here. Just in this meeting alone, they&#8217;ve walked back some of the positions that the president was echoing, when he met with President Putin. So this is very positive progress.”
If you&#8217;re honest —even if you&#8217;re a Democrat — you should be acknowledging that President Trump not only is not doing anything wrong here, he&#8217;s actually moving the ball forward.
To pretend that this was somehow a gigantic Trump capitulation to Putin is to ignore the actual reality of the situation, and it demonstrates the wild disconnect between reality and what Democrats think of President Trump.
But then, Democrats and reality are like oil and water.

President Trump has two goals. One goal is to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump said this over and over during the campaign. He said, “If I&#8217;d been president, it never would have started. … I want to stop the death. There&#8217;s too much carnage. “
It’s a simple truth. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed on both sides. The number of total dead and wounded is probably over one million at this point, depending on the estimates that you are using. There has been a vast flight of people from places like Ukraine. Seven million people from Ukraine left the country during the ongoing conflict, which has been going on for three years.
But President Trump also has another goal, a larger geopolitical and geostrategic goal here, and that may be to do a sort of reverse Henry Kissinger.
In a famous incident, Henry Kissinger went to China to normalize relations with the U.S. when he served under Richard Nixon. It was an attempt to split the USSR from China in the early 1970s.
It is quite possible that this is something that President Trump would like to do here: Stop allowing Russia to be predominantly used as a Chinese gas station. If we are orienting ourselves toward boxing in China, then a Russian-Chinese close alliance is a bad thing.
The idea could be to reach an end of the war, create a warm relationship with Vladimir Putin, and create a quasi-detente with the Russians in an attempt to pry them out of the waiting arms of the Chinese.
Is that something that&#8217;s going to happen? Not likely. The Chinese and the Russians share many interests. The Russians have a long-standing agenda.
And this gets to what Vladimir Putin wants.
What Vladimir Putin wants is not only territorial expansion in Ukraine. What he wants is the capacity to turn the rest of Eastern Europe, as well as Western Europe, into an anti-Atlantic preserve. What Putin would like is for Europe to become a Russian sphere of influence, because the goal of the Russians is not to be a sort of strategic player in the world. They want Russia to be an actual, honest-to-God, quasi-empire.

They would like for the Russian capacity to influence events to spread far beyond its borders. They see themselves as preservers of a deeper Russian ideology that should be spread.
Thus, the war could be the first step toward something like that. Gain a little bit more territory in Ukraine, stall for time, wait for the next president of the United States, and then go after the rest of Ukraine, or put additional pressure on Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, try to formally actually break NATO, try to get all of these countries —because they&#8217;re afraid of the West abandoning them — to start treating Russia in friendlier fashion.
Something like that has been happening in Taiwan, where every few years they have a presidential election, and then they decide whether to pursue a closer policy with China, a friendlier policy with China in an attempt to prevent a Chinese invasion, or whether to stand tall and independent of China.
Vladimir Putin&#8217;s goal here does not align with the goals of the president of the United States. When it comes to China, if Putin has to choose between siding with China against the United States and siding with the United States against China, the answer is probably the former rather than the latter.
And then there&#8217;s the interests of Vladimir Zelensky and the rest of Ukraine. They want to be an independent state. They do not want to be under the Russian thumb. They&#8217;re not interested in becoming Belarus. They&#8217;re not interested in becoming a Russian proxy state. They don&#8217;t want to be Georgia.
They want their independence.
Meanwhile, the Europeans want to have a warmer economic relationship with Russia. They had that before Vladimir Putin&#8217;s repeated invasions of Ukraine.
But they would also very much like for Vladimir Putin&#8217;s influence to stop at the borders of NATO.
Those are the various interests at play here, and it&#8217;s very hard to see a deal that gets made here that enshrines all of those interests and ensures all of these different interests.
This is a very, very sticky situation, and the thing that makes it most sticky is that the history of Russia in conflict is this: Mass casualties do not matter to the Russian regime.
The rest of the West sees mass casualties as a terrible thing. Russia does not. The more Russians who died during World War II, the more Russians can claim Russian heroism.
Vladimir Putin&#8217;s losses in Ukraine — which he thought he was going to win easily — have not diminished his standing in Russian circles.
How does all of this end? There are a couple of scenarios posited by The Wall Street Journal in a <a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/how-will-the-war-in-ukraine-end-two-scenarios-2bcc0d99?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=ASWzDAgxsUv7fSfcNxX0S-r1dO8mTJs-IYDSK6mjtpNdSLHTTb-jHIj-SJRqZwoBfE4%3D&amp;gaa_ts=68a37030&amp;gaa_sig=dSZh-rHKSheqYDiYEd_dTJ1ihnv4w61g0lZcxHW8Oe6_mmapRSi7iegB9YbQ0pYI78J96YZypMywe8EtvU_3lw%3D%3D">piece</a> by Marcus Walker.
One is “partition with protection.” He writes: “Ukraine’s leadership has quietly come to accept that it doesn’t have the military strength to get its borders back in full. Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated his willingness to negotiate about territory in video calls with President Trump and European leaders—after a cease-fire that freezes the current front line.”
So the goal there would be to stop the forward momentum that Russia is attempting to pursue while the talks continue.
“Kyiv and European countries say they would never give legal recognition to Russia’s gains, a step that would turn international law into an incentive for further conquest instead of a taboo against it. But they are signaling they would live with the reality of de facto Russian control,” he continues.
What would that look like? It’s unclear. It wouldn&#8217;t be a formal recognition of annexation.
“The best-case scenario for Kyiv and its European backers is probably to limit Russia to what its forces already occupy, equivalent to about one-fifth of Ukraine’s land. The Kremlin continues to insist that Ukraine retreat from areas that it claims as Russian but doesn’t control — notably the Ukrainian-held part of the Donetsk region, where Ukraine holds a chain of fortified cities that Russia so far has been unable to conquer,” he writes.
Remember, any sort of territorial acquiescence by the Ukrainians will have to go through a referendum in Ukraine. There&#8217;s a constitutional provision in Ukraine that requires that the people vote if they&#8217;re going to give up land to the Russians.
“But the biggest question is what happens to the other 80% of Ukraine,” Walker asks. “Kyiv and its European allies want to protect the future security and sovereignty of the remaining rump with a combination of strong Ukrainian military defenses and Western security assistance. A so-called ‘coalition of the willing’ led by the U.K. and France wants to deploy some of its own troops to Ukraine as a further deterrent against a future Russian attack.”

It&#8217;s similar to the way the United States has a trigger force in South Korea to prevent North Korean aggression.
That is possibility number one: Get very, very strong security guarantees. Ukraine makes some sort of territorial concessions. And this conflict comes to a sort of ceasefire, an end point without a full-scale peace agreement. That is the most hopeful possibility.
Then there&#8217;s possibility number two. Walker calls it “Partition with subordination,” writing:
<blockquote>Russia’s demands since its 2022 invasion have included shrinking the size of Ukraine’s armed forces, limiting its weaponry and its supplies of Western armaments, and changing its political regime—including its constitution, its leadership, and its policies on language, history and national identity. The greatest danger for Ukraine isn’t just losing its east and south. It is that what remains wouldn’t be able to resist a third Russian invasion, following those of 2014 and 2022. </blockquote>
You can&#8217;t imagine a situation in which Ukraine accepts that outcome, not after the second invasion of Ukraine in a decade. There&#8217;s no way they&#8217;re going to accept full-scale subordination. They&#8217;re going to say, “We might as well fight this thing out and slug it out on the front lines, if the idea is that we&#8217;re supposed to diminish our military in some serious way.”
So possibility number one looks like the best solution.
Which means Trump will do everything he can to achieve it.

Antisemitism is nothing new. It is an ancient evil, spanning from Haman to Hitler, and now manifesting in Hamas and Hezbollah. This is not just political ideology or a disturbing cultural trend, antisemitism is the primary objective from Hell.
After the Holocaust, the world promised, “Never again.” Yet here we are. The October 7 terrorist attacks against Israel, surge in antisemitic rhetoric, violence targeting Jews and supporters of Israel all reveal an alarming truth: today’s complacency is tomorrow’s captivity.
When antisemitism rises, it doesn&#8217;t stop with the Jewish people. Hatred comes first for the Jews, then for everyone else. In denying the image of God in the Jewish people, antisemitism assaults the Judeo-Chrstian values that undergird peace and prosperity everywhere. That’s why Christians must stand up — against antisemitism and with Israel — now. We need to build a firewall against antisemitism or today’s generation will continue to spiral into moral confusion and spiritual blindness. 
Antisemitism is not just about politics. It’s about truth and the foundation of human flourishing. From Genesis to Revelation, there is no ambiguity whatsoever that there is a Divine purpose for the Jewish people. God’s Covenant with the Jews has not been nullified. Even in the New Covenant through Christ, there is a plan for the Jewish people in Israel.
That’s why I push back against replacement theology, the lie that the Church has replaced Israel in God’s divine plan. The apostle Paul makes the truth clear in Romans: God’s promises to the Jewish people still stand. The Church ought to reject replacement theology and, instead, embrace its calling to bless and stand with Israel.
The tide of antisemitism rises with violence and spiritual crises in our communities. It is a diabolical — truly demonic — attempt to erase the image of God from the Jewish people, undermining morality and humanity everywhere. We must be spiritually vigilant. This means prayer, public engagement and prophetic activism.
Christians must raise their voices. Pray to God, but also call upon your pastors, church communities and elected officials. Call out cowardice disguised as political neutrality. Confront the lies propagated online. Of the 100,000 evangelical churches in America, how many pastors spoke up after October 7? How many feared losing followers or political favor? Silence in the face of evil is complicity, and I call on all Christians to rise up and stand in support of Israel.

It is the only nation in the region where minority communities — Christians, Muslims, Druze and others — can participate fully in society and serve in the government. Israel is not the villain of the Middle East. The portrayal of Israel as an oppressor is not just wrong; it’s a calculated, diabolical lie. Don’t swallow the lie. Speak up for the truth.

Every believer can take action. We must. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Speak truth when lies spread. Contact your representatives in Congress. Preach truth from the pulpit, post it on social media and proclaim it in your daily life.
As believers, we are engaged in spiritual warfare, but we have the truth and we must practice prayerful vigilance. Remember Romans 1:16: “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation.” God calls us to thwart evil in all its forms, including that of antisemitism.
We cannot repeat the mistakes of the past and let evil persist. We need to engage in bearing witness, in reaching out to the Jewish community. We must not echo the complacency that destroyed Germany in the late 1930’s and led to the systematic murder of millions of people.
When hatred rises again — which it will — let us use our voices to conquer it. Silence is not an option. Silence is antithetical to the Christian faith. Locking arms with the Jewish people, let us stand together, defend truth and proclaim God’s love. For such a time as this, we are called to stand together and speak up.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is running for the nomination for the Democratic Party in 2028, has a redistricting plan. He is all hot and bothered about the fact that the Texas state Legislature is going to redistrict, which they are allowed to do by all available and applicable law in the state.
They&#8217;re not supposed to do this in California, however. The state constitution states they can redistrict every ten years along with the census, and also that there is an independent commission that is supposed to administer the redistricting.
But now, Gavin Newsom has decided it&#8217;s his “moment.”
Of course, he believes that it’s always his moment.
That&#8217;s the thing about Gavin Newsom. He has never not had a moment just in the last few months.
We had the Gavin Newsom moment over the fires — where he somehow blamed President Trump for the giant fires taking place in his state.
There was the Gavin Newsom moment over illegal immigration, where he claimed that President Trump was trying to fascistically take over the state of California.
This is the third Gavin Newsom “moment” in the past six months. He is now claiming that he is going to redistrict the state of California in order to fight back against those evil Texas state legislators who are attempting to redistrict and put the state more in line with its actual political proclivities.

“We will affirm our commitment to the state independent redistricting after the 2030 census, but we&#8217;re asking the voters for their consent to do mid-term redistricting in 2026, 2028 and 2030 for the congressional maps to respond to what&#8217;s happening in Texas, to respond to what Trump is trying to excite.”

You might be saying to yourself, “Wait, hold up. I thought that California was one of the states that has an independent redistricting commission in an attempt to prevent things such as what Gavin Newsom is doing right now.” They do. That&#8217;s true.
California does not have very many Republican seats in the first place. In fact, the state of California is split about 60-40 Democrats over Republican, but Democrats hold an extraordinary number of seats in the state of California.
Yet he wants to redistrict anyway. Why?
As a response to President Trump, Newsom suggested, “We have to fight fire with fire,” which is a bad metaphor for him to be using, considering his state is legitimately and literally on fire every couple of months, thanks to his forestation policies.
California currently has 52 congressional seats and 43 of them are held by Democrats. That&#8217;s a lot more than the percentage of the population of California that is actually Democrat. They&#8217;re going to fight “fire with fire” by doing more of what California has been doing all along.
Just to demonstrate, by the way, what a sham the Independent Redistricting Commission is in the state of California — because California is indeed highly gerrymandered — the independent redistricting commissioner, Sara Sadhwani, said the state should simply redraw the maps without any independent redistricting authority, which shows how independent she was in the first place.
Not that she’s a Democratic tool or something like that.
But there is a problem for the Democrats in California, and that is that the Californian voters are not particularly interested in doing any of this.
According to a new poll, by a 2 to 1 margin, voters prefer keeping an independent line-drawing panel to determine the state&#8217;s House seats. Only 36% of respondents favor turning congressional redistricting authority to state lawmakers.
So this is a problem for Gavin Newsom — if he cared.
He doesn’t. If he wants to take the California Democrats from 43 of 52 possible seats to 48 of 52 possible seats, and the California Constitution prevents him from doing it and the voters stop him, he can still say he tried his best. And that is the most important thing to him, because Gavin Newsom is interested in one thing and one thing only: running for president in 2028.
That’s why he continues to promote the lie that President Trump is going to run for an unconstitutional <a href="https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FxfsAarcdQE">third term</a> in 2028.
“I said in a moment, ‘Wake up, America, wake up. You will not have a country if he rigs this election. You will have a president who will be running for a third term. Mark my word. I wasn&#8217;t exaggerating when I said that I received in the mail a Trump 2028 hat from one of his biggest supporters. These guys are not screwing around. The rules do not apply to them. The most corrupt president in history.”
I think we need to send Gavin Newsom a Trump 2036 hat because obviously somebody sent him, as a joke, a Trump 2028 hat and he took it seriously.
Let&#8217;s go further than that. Let’s send him a Trump 2040 hat.
We need to make one and send it to Newsom because the dude cannot take a joke.

Around a decade ago, when viral videos were just starting to become commonplace, a woman uploaded a video entitled, &#8220;10 hours of walking in NYC as a woman.&#8221; Like many viral videos, it wasn&#8217;t actually as spontaneous as it looked. It was the brainchild of an anti-harassment organization by the name of &#8220;Hollaback!&#8221; along with an ad agency called Rob Bliss Creative.
The premise, as the name of the video implies, is that a young white woman named Shoshana Roberts would walk around New York — &#8220;all areas of Manhattan,&#8221; they said — wearing jeans and a crewneck. She wouldn&#8217;t say anything to anyone. In front of her, someone would be carrying a hidden camera, which would capture all of the misogynistic men who would inevitably catcall her. It was intended to be feminist propaganda, in other words. You might remember the video, but if not, here&#8217;s some of it. Watch:

According to the caption on the video, to her horror, this woman was catcalled more than 100 times in just 10 hours. And after releasing this piece of groundbreaking investigative journalism, the feminists who created it were convinced that they had a winner on their hands. It was being shared everywhere. People were horrified by the plight of women in New York City.
But very quickly, the mood changed. Leftists noticed that, inconveniently enough, pretty much every single catcaller in the video was black or Hispanic. There was one white guy who said something like &#8220;Nice,&#8221; although it wasn&#8217;t even clear he was talking to her. In any event, he&#8217;s clearly respectful and keeps things moving. He simply compliments her and continues walking.
By contrast, there were dozens of black and Hispanic catcallers in the video. And they went far beyond saying &#8220;nice.&#8221; One black guy follows her down the street for five minutes, staring at her the entire time. Another &#8220;person of color&#8221; tells her to &#8220;say thank you more.&#8221; Another guy says &#8220;God bless you, Mami.&#8221;
And you know what this means. The video was determined to be highly racist. NPR and Slate, among many other Left-wing publications, ran lengthy pieces on how problematic the video was. The author Roxane Gay, for example, wrote: &#8220;The racial politics of the video are [f*****] up.
Like, she didn&#8217;t walk through any white neighborhoods?&#8221; Never mind the fact that she walked all over Manhattan, which the footage clearly shows.
As the hysteria grew, the organization that produced the video released a groveling (and very confusing) statement of apology, which threw their <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2014/11/01/360422087/hollaback-video-calls-out-catcallers-but-cuts-out-white-men">own video</a> under the bus: 
<blockquote>We regret the unintended racial bias in the editing of the video that over represents men of color. &#8230; We are committed to showing the complete picture. It is our hope and intention that this video will be the start of a series to demonstrate that the type of harassment we&#8217;re concerned about is directed toward women of all races and ethnicities and conducted by an equally diverse population of men.</blockquote>
On Reddit, the ad agency <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2014/11/01/360422087/hollaback-video-calls-out-catcallers-but-cuts-out-white-men">added</a>: 
<blockquote>We got a fair amount of white guys, but for whatever reason, a lot of what they said was in passing, or off camera.</blockquote>
Obviously, one of the biggest issues with this claim is that everything in the video was said &#8220;in passing, or off camera.&#8221; So it doesn&#8217;t make sense to claim that the white people were &#8220;edited out&#8221; for that reason. Nor does it make any sense to state that, in the future, they&#8217;ll be committed to demonstrating that catcallers come from a, &#8220;equally diverse population of men.&#8221; After all, they just captured video evidence demonstrating, via a recorded experiment, that catcallers are not in fact diverse. So what&#8217;s the basis for saying that, in the future, they&#8217;ll prove that white people are just as likely to catcall women?

They don&#8217;t have any basis for saying that, of course, because it&#8217;s not true. Catcalling women to the point that they become uncomfortable — sort of like playing music loudly on a Bluetooth speaker at the park, or committing armed robbery — is one of those behaviors that, from a statistical perspective, simply isn&#8217;t perfectly distributed among various ethnic groups. Even if you tried to stack the deck by conducting this experiment in a neighborhood that’s nearly 100% white, it still wouldn’t work. In fact, that would only prove the opposite conclusion, because we all know that a woman can walk through a predominantly white suburb not just for 10 hours but for 10 years and never get catcalled at all.
That was the real lesson of &#8220;10 hours of walking in NYC as a woman,&#8221; even though the ad agency would never admit it. They proved, rather publicly, that different demographic groups engage in catcalling at very different rates. And so, ever since the publication of this video, in the name of racial justice, Leftists have mostly stopped talking about catcalling. They&#8217;ve left the topic alone.
But as we all know, every lesson of history must be re-learned at some point. It&#8217;s sort of like the old maxim, &#8220;Never fight a land war in Asia.&#8221; Everyone agrees it&#8217;s a bad idea. But eventually, someone else tries again, to disastrous results. And indeed, that&#8217;s the case with catcalling. Once again, Leftists are trying to make a big deal out of it. Specifically, in England, the Surrey Police Department recently sent undercover policewomen out on the streets, in jogging clothes, in an attempt to elicit catcalls. And then, when the policewomen were catcalled, back-up cars swoop in, sort of like a drug bust. Watch:

Well, they&#8217;ve convinced me. This policewoman is constantly being told by strangers that she&#8217;s attractive. And that&#8217;s a horrible, horrible thing. It&#8217;s hard to imagine anything worse than receiving unsolicited compliments, frankly. And indeed, you can just see the abject pain and horror in her voice as she&#8217;s having to process all of this. Last week I upset some people by suggesting that female cops shouldn’t be out on patrol because they lack the strength and other attributes necessary for that job. But I guess I should revise my statement. This is one job — walking around and fishing for compliments — that female cops are highly suited for.
It’s enough to make you wonder what would happen if some police officers are assigned to this detail, and they get no cat calls whatsoever. Would they be giving interviews about how happy they are about the fact that no one in the entire city, during their 8-hour shift, bothered to compliment them? Is that the conversation that would take place, back at the station? It seems doubtful, but at this point, we can&#8217;t say.
In any event, in the video, they admit that catcalling isn&#8217;t even criminal, which raises the obvious question of why the police are doing this. They explain that, in truth, they&#8217;re just trying to wag their finger at people who catcall, because catcalling is like a gateway drug to more criminal activity. Apparently, people who catcall are more likely to commit murder, tax evasion, arson, and so on. But even if that&#8217;s true — and there&#8217;s not much evidence that it is — it still doesn&#8217;t come close to justifying a police stop. If the police are allowed to pull you over because you might commit a future crime, in their judgment, then you effectively have a police state. And of course, that&#8217;s exactly what the UK has become.
But as it turns out, contrary to what&#8217;s stated in that video, some people are indeed being arrested in the UK as part of this sting operation. 
The Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08/12/undercover-officers-pose-as-joggers-to-stop-catcalling/">reports</a>: 
<blockquote>Surrey Police said the approach was designed to protect women and girls in public places. According to the force, the [operation], which lasted a month, led to 18 arrests for offences such as harassment, sexual assault, and theft.</blockquote>
The implication, I guess, is that they picked up people with outstanding warrants for assault and theft, since there&#8217;s no indication that these officers were actually attacked during their runs. But what&#8217;s notable about this report, and every other report like it, is that we don&#8217;t have any information about the identities of the offenders. They also don&#8217;t explain what conduct constitutes &#8220;harassment&#8221; exactly. Instead, they simply state that this was a one-month trial for a sting operation, which has now concluded. So there was more transparency from a viral video produced by feminists a decade ago in New York City, than the British police are willing to provide about their taxpayer-funded catcalling bust.
We can all draw the obvious conclusion here. It&#8217;s almost certain that this particular sting operation backfired, just like that viral video did. They came up with this plan in order to entrap heterosexual white men who shout compliments at attractive women. That&#8217;s the great crime that British police decided to spend their time on — something that isn&#8217;t even a crime at all. In fact, it&#8217;s not even morally objectionable in many cases. And yet, in their bid to criminalize heterosexuality and lock up white men for non-crimes, the British police probably realized, to their horror, that the worst and most aggressive catcallers — the real menaces of the catcalling community — were not white at all. And therefore, this operation will end, and it will never be resumed again.
That&#8217;s not really a guess. This is how things work in Britain. For many years, the British government concealed the systematic sexual abuse of children that was being committed, right out in the open, by foreign gangs in England and Wales. 
According to one recent <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clynyyqdnrdo">report</a>, prepared by UK government official Louise Casey: 
<blockquote>We found that the ethnicity of perpetrators is shied away from and is still not recorded for two-thirds of perpetrators. &#8230; We found many examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist, raising community tensions or causing community cohesion problems.</blockquote>
With the protection of the government, so-called &#8220;grooming gangs&#8221; have operated with impunity in the UK. The normal tactic that these gangs used, as Casey&#8217;s report notes, was for men to target vulnerable adolescent children — &#8220;often those in care, or children with learning or physical disabilities.&#8221; Those children were then drugged, passed among various men and transported via taxis throughout the country to other clients.
The total number of victims is unknown, because most of these perpetrators have never been caught. But a recent <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2r2ejlvm1o">estimate</a> suggests that a minimum of 700 children were victims of &#8220;group-based child sexual exploitation&#8221; in the UK in 2023 alone. Roughly <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn9y0lvpyqvo">1,400 children</a> were sexually abused by men in the UK town of Rotherham between 1997 and 2013. In several cases, the police also <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn9y0lvpyqvo">participated</a> in the sexual assaults. They also made it clear that they were extremely uninterested when victims came forward. Watch:

In response to the latest government report on this scandal, police in South Yorkshire <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn9y0lvpyqvo">told the BBC</a> that they had, &#8220;a dedicated team of detectives working on this case who have worked diligently to explore all lines of enquiry.&#8221; That was their response just a few weeks ago, in July of this year So they&#8217;re claiming it&#8217;s a top priority for them. And yet, just a couple hours away in Surrey, the police are busy trying to arrest catcallers. They&#8217;re chasing down men who honk at women, even though there&#8217;s nothing criminal about it.
Not that we should really be surprised by this. Sociopathic sting operations, in the service of extremely dumb policies that happen to target native white citizens, are becoming the norm in police departments all over the country. In Canada, they&#8217;re <a href="https://x.com/JeffEvely/status/1953971918312251707">rounding</a> up people who try to hike in the woods, and handing out $30,000 fines. In Australia, as we <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5MA8S3ugXQ">discussed</a> a few months ago, they&#8217;ve essentially outlawed prayer. If you try to pray with a man who thinks he&#8217;s really a woman, or vice versa, you could face a decade&#8217;s worth of prison time. In fact, parents can&#8217;t even pray with their children, under that law.
There&#8217;s no way to make sense of any of these crackdowns without recognizing that the governments of the West harbor a deep and abiding disdain for the native populations of their respective countries. And these governments have realized that, if they can&#8217;t completely eliminate the police force and leave the population defenseless, then they can discredit the police, at the very least. They can turn law enforcement into laughing stock and eliminate its legitimacy that way. It&#8217;s the same reason the police chief in D.C. can <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-insanely-incompetent-dei-hire-running-one-of-americas-most-dangerous-cities?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Matt+Walsh&amp;category=Opinion&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=The+Insanely+Incompetent+DEI+Hire+Running+One+Of+America%E2%80%99s+Most+Dangerous+Cities">barely understand</a> English. In other words, the latest war on policing, incredibly enough, is one that the police themselves are participating in. Police departments can either realize what&#8217;s going on, and refuse to participate in the charade. Or they can continue to contribute to their downfall, one extremely ill-advised sting operation at a time.

According to polls, the increased amount of support for New York Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is coming from people under the age of 35. 
Mamdani has never held a real job in his entire life. If you were looking for the definition of a career useless person, this would be the guy. 
You might say to yourself: How does a person with effectively no résumé, who worked for his mommy and was a rapper, wind up as the Democratic nominee in New York City?
But to misunderstand that is to misunderstand everything about Gen Z.
I&#8217;m not a politician, so I don&#8217;t have to pretend that the concerns of Gen Z are legitimate. I understand that if you&#8217;re a politician, then you have to placate people when they emotionally explain to you why their life is so difficult. Sometimes people do have difficult lives with real challenges in the world.
But when I hear from Gen Z that the American dream is dead to them, all I can think of is this: You have got to be kidding me.
I&#8217;ve read many pieces over the last couple of years now that Gen Z has it tougher than any generation in modern history. I thought to myself, “I&#8217;m going to vomit.”
How many serious wars have they had to live through? Zero. Zero serious terrorist attacks. They have lived in the most prosperous time in human history and the healthiest time in human history.
But because their rent is too high in New York City, while they concomitantly hold some sort of nonprofit jobs, they whine.
I don&#8217;t mean everyone in Gen Z complains without reason — there are many people who are suffering, who have a disease, who have health problems, who have been dealt a rough hand by life.
Those are not the people I&#8217;m talking about.
The generational complaint that somehow Gen Z has it worse than the millennials or Gen X or the boomers, or the Greatest Generation, ignores literally all of American history, all of it.
But if you&#8217;re a politician, you can make bank by pretending that these people have legitimate concerns and they&#8217;re not just being ungrateful and bratty. For these folks, Mamdani is an avatar.

He has no resume. He grew up absolutely loaded with wealth, and currently is taking advantage of a rent-controlled apartment in New York City. He is currently living in a rent-stabilized apartment where the rent is $2,500 a month. The market rate would be $8,000 per month. He earns $147,000 a year and is campaigning on housing affordability in New York City.
You might think to yourself, “That&#8217;s crazy. How are all of these socialists in New York City supporting somebody who&#8217;s so clearly a hypocrite?”
But that misses the point: So many folks in America look to their politicians as aspirational figures. I think a lot of people who love President Trump view him as an aspirational figure, somebody who&#8217;s very wealthy and very powerful, somebody who&#8217;s made more of himself than otherwise he might have had at the beginning. Yes, he grew up rich, but he made himself into a brand name available all across the world for literally decades, and then became President of the United States twice.
It&#8217;s an aspirational thing.
But what if the Gen Z aspiration is to be a career loser who lives off of their parents’ income until they get some sort of cush government job living in a rent-stabilized apartment? What if that is the actual aspiration? What if people look up to Zohran Mamdani not in spite of the fact that he is a loser, but because he is a loser?
A lot of New Yorkers now have jobs and backgrounds very similar to Mamdani’s.
And this is the central point. 
Armin Rosen noted in <a href="https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/zohran-mamdanis-fantasy-island">Tablet Magazine</a>:
<blockquote>New York is thought of as the sink-or-swim epicenter of American capitalism, but that’s not true anymore. The city is home to more than 600,000 jobs in <a href="https://www.osc.ny.gov/files/reports/pdf/critical-role-of-nonprofits-in-new-york.pdf">the nonprofit sector </a>and a roughly equal number of <a href="https://dol.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2025/08/new-york-city.pdf">jobs in government</a>. Nonprofits now employ nearly 17 percent of the city’s total private-sector workforce, compared to 10 percent nationally. Wage growth in the nonprofit sector healthily outpaced the rest of the private sector statewide in New York between 2017 and 2022, 29.3 to 25.3 percent.</blockquote>
Wage growth in New York City is healthy because it&#8217;s all done off of government grants.
All of those nonprofits are not independently raising their money. They&#8217;re getting money from the government. Thus, they&#8217;re effectively second-order government employees.
When you look at the stats in New York, you understand just why Mamdani is so successful. You have well over 50% of the population that is working for some sort of government-orchestrated, government-organized, or government-funded segment of the economy.
In other words, the people who are getting money from the government are not the people who are paying for the government. They&#8217;re all Zohran Mamdani types. They&#8217;re living off the largesse of government.
Meanwhile, all of the rent across New York City has been rent-stabilized. 50% of all of the units across New York City have been rent-stabilized. One million units have been rent-stabilized, which means that there&#8217;s an artificially low supply of new construction in New York City. That means the prices go up. 
Mamdani is complaining about “affordability.” It should be pointed out that it&#8217;s all left-wing policies that made things unaffordable. Additionally, of the people who are in New York City trying to afford those rent-controlled, rent-stabilized apartments, a huge number of them are on the government dole, so they are earning from both ends. The government is stabilizing their rent, and at the same time, the government is likely subsidizing their salary.
This is why I&#8217;m irritated when I hear from Gen Z about how tough things are in places like New York.
We should point out that there has been this mindset that has settled in among the American population that you are supposed to die where you were born. 
This is not a typically American idea. There are people on the Right who believe this. There are people on the Left who believe this. But it is not a traditional American idea. The traditional American idea, if you go back to the very beginning, was to cross an ocean with nothing to guarantee what was going to happen. People went into the wilderness, built a crappy house, and tried to start a business. And if that didn&#8217;t work, they would abandon that place and move further to the west, across mountain ranges, across rivers.
That was the original American idea.
Traditionally, when it was too expensive to live in a place, Americans went somewhere else.
But Americans are not doing that anymore. Instead, the reason so many New Yorkers seem warm on socialism is that many New Yorkers are already living a form of socialism. They are living the Zohran Mamdani lifestyle, where they are being supported by the government in a wide variety of ways, ranging from the regulatory to the actual subsidy.
So when they say things are so hard in New York City, and the answer is more redistribution from the people who are earning all of the income and paying all the taxes, the answer should be NO.
At some point, there&#8217;s going to have to be a call for some level of responsibility on the part of young people.
I grew up in a 1,100 square-foot house with one bathroom and shared a bedroom with my three sisters until I was eleven. I did have the ultimate privilege: a solid two-parent household.
And you know what? It was a fine life. I&#8217;m grateful for that life.
I&#8217;m telling this story because there is this dumb assumption that if you talk about mobility in America and the capacity of people to make smart decisions and to make the kinds of moves that will be necessary to achieve success, the immediate accusation is that it was only true for you, it&#8217;s not true for anybody else.
But it&#8217;s not only true for me. It is true for a huge majority of Americans. If you make smart decisions in America, and if you stop whining for five seconds, and if you go out and make better decisions for yourself, you can make a better life for yourself.
So many politicians make bank off this idea that America is dying, that the American dream is dying. Who does better because of that?
Politicians.
This is how they gain power, because every time they fail, they turn around and they say, “The system has failed. Give me more power.”
This is how you end up with Zohran Mamdani or Bernie Sanders.
It&#8217;s not going to work out for anyone who believes this garbage. It&#8217;s not going to work out for the city of New York. It&#8217;s not going to work out for the country.
The only person who can make your life better in the end is you. You are the person who makes your life better, not Mamdani, not Bernie Sanders.
Most Americans are not dreaming of a government job, making a decent salary, and living in a rent-stabilized apartment.
That is not the American dream.
It never was.

How is it possible that Jews in New York could support a mayoral candidate that labels Israel genocidal and calls for the “intifada to be globalized?”
The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/04/nyregion/zohran-mamdani-jewish-voters-gaza.html">New York Times</a> would have us believe that there are many such Jews. I have trouble believing anything the NYT prints on this subject given the overwhelming evidence that they lie, distort and manipulate when it comes to Jews and Israel, as proven by their recent story about starving children in Gaza based on an altered photo, and their infamous lie about a bombed hospital in October 2023. So, it’s no surprise that in their Mamdani story, two of the five Jews interviewed work for the Mamdani campaign.
Even without such distortion, however, it is true that some Jews voted for Mamdani in the Democrat primary, and will vote for him again in the general election. 
I am an Orthodox Jewish film director, author and influencer, which is to say, a visible Jew both on the street and online. So, I’ve been getting asked, “What’s the story with your fellow Jews? How could they vote for a man who hates Israel and hates the Jews?”
To understand this, you first need to know something about Jews, namely, that we’re all different. We’ve been around for so long, and lived in so many countries, and fallen into so many different categories, that there is no such thing as a typical Jew.
Non-Jews, whether they love us or hate us, tend to lump us all together. They’re not entirely wrong because we’re not primarily a religion or a nationality – we’re a family. Now, every family contains different types of and categories of people, but the family remains distinct because relatives resemble each other physically, intellectually, temperamentally and spiritually.
Jews are not only a family, but we are also uniquely bound to God through the Torah and its system of commandments, as well as our shared destiny and connection to the Holy Land of Israel. The question is, why would a Jew who inherits our unbroken wisdom tradition stretching back 3,700 years turn his back on it?
Some chafe at the demands of the commandments. Others simply think they have a better idea, be it a credo they dreamed up or an “ism” to which they subscribed. And some turn their backs on our family to fit in at work, school, cocktail parties or online.
In seeking to curry favor with the Jew-hating mob, these Jews do enormous harm.
They often open their statements about Israel with, “As a Jew…” and then they parrot lies about Israel fabricated by the Gaza Ministry of Health, an entity created by Hamas to serve as the media arm of their terrorist organization. One glance at a fact-based website like StandWithUs.com, or even at a simple map of the region renders the bulk of these lies comically inept. After all, how can one Jewish state among 56 Muslim countries – most of which were not Muslim before the sword brought Islam to their lands – be labeled the “colonizer?”

Statistically, Jews are well-educated, high-achieving and score above average on IQ tests. Why then do some Jews fall for these obvious fabrications? One reason is that siding with Jew-haters against Israel makes them feel virtuous, and we must never underestimate the power of feeling virtuous. That feeling is so addictive that they indulge in it even at the cost of lives: when the As-a-Jews speak out against Israel and get quoted by the enemies of Israel, they strengthen the hearts of Hamas terrorists.
Senior Hamas official <a href="https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2025/08/03/palestinian-state-is-one-of-the-fruits-of-october-7-emboldened-hamas-credits-its-violence-for-gains-as-released-hostage-video-spurs-outcry/">Ghazi Hamad</a> said on Al Jazeera that the recent push by multiple nations to recognize Palestine as a state is the fruit of October 7. In other words, their plan is working. Why would any government reward a terrorist state for the murder and rape of Israeli civilians? Because Hamas claims, “Israel commits genocide, and even the Jews admit it.” And as long as that plan is working, Hamas will keep firing rockets from their children’s bedrooms so they can shriek with victim-glee when Israel inevitably counter strikes. This is how the Hamas death cult operates. This is the modern version of that ancient evil, child sacrifice.
And the murderous phase of the present cycle is lasting longer than it would otherwise because those As-a-Jews give cover to our enemies. Their virtue-signaling costs lives.
Now let us recall that despite our family resemblances, Jews are all different. Most Jews are not As-a-Jews.
In my <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/05/11/u-s-jews-connections-with-and-attitudes-toward-israel/">Orthodox community</a>, Jews are overwhelmingly supportive of Israel, even when they disagree with its government, and we also oppose communism, socialism, and any &#8220;ism&#8221; that privileges people based on their genes rather than merit. In this time of elevated danger to the Jewish people, we’re also profoundly grateful to live in a country that rejects antisemitism like every other racism, and to have allies who can see through Hamas/Iran lies about Israel. Increasingly, we’re also exercising our Second Amendment right to bear arms – with care and training – to protect our families. God forbid the Jew haters who daily chant violence against us come to kill us, we will not be a soft target.
The percentage of Jews who subscribe to these societal views drops significantly when we look at Jews in non-Orthodox denominations, collectively known as liberal Judaism. This term should not be confused with liberal politics, because there are many religiously liberal Jews who are politically conservative. It’s true that religiously liberal Jews do tend to be politically liberal but even so, they are not Mamdani Jews. If they’re affiliated with a synagogue, they tend to support Israel and feel a visceral connection to the Jewish people.
Mamdani Jews are usually those who’ve untethered themselves from Torah entirely. Either they’ve never been exposed to Judaism, or they’re actively against it. They’ll give many reasons why, but their disconnection allows them to generate their own system of morality, and to fit in with the Jew-haters who lionize them. At least for a while. Historically, such Jews get attacked in the end just like the rest of their family.
The Jew-haters offer new and different reasons for their hatred in every generation: we’re too stand-offish or we’re too assimilated, we’re too rich or we’re too poor, we’re stateless or we have a Jewish state. Perhaps the simplest reason is that we’ve lived in exile for so long, that we’ve learned how to arrive on a new shore, identify what success looks like in that culture, and attain it in one generation, even while retaining our ancient traditions and transmitting them to our children. Invariably, we succeed by contributing to the nation that hosts us.
The Mamdani Jews go awry because they jettison the guard rails of Torah and tradition while retaining otherwise positive Jewish qualities like studiousness, generosity of heart, and sympathy for the underdog. Without the Torah’s holistic system for living, these lovely traits can cause an individual’s moral system to skid off the rails and cause great harm.
This process is summed up by an old adage: one who is kind to the cruel will end up being cruel to the kind. In this case, Mamdani Jews support the Hamas death cult because they’re moved by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-hamas-photo-propaganda-dupes-the-west-and-fuels-bds?author=Alyssa+Rosenheck&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=72&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=How+Hamas+Photo+Propaganda+Dupes+The+West+And+Fuels+BDS">pictures</a> of sickly children, and they shut their eyes to the evidence that the sickly child’s well-fed siblings have been cropped out by cynical terrorists and their willing accomplices in the media. The result is more innocent lives lost, not less.
We try desperately to open the eyes of our brethren to these facts, yet they remain clenched shut.
Perhaps they keep their eyes shut because if they were to absorb these facts, they would have to open their eyes to many more. They’d have to make an accounting of their choices in a life untethered from Torah and Jewish tradition – a fearless moral inventory – and such a process is not for the faint of heart.
I pray these Mamdani Jews will remember who they are, and the family they come from, before our enemies force them to remember with a globalized intifada. The reason Washington, D.C. is in the news this week isn&#8217;t because of anything Donald Trump did. It&#8217;s because D.C., more than any other city in the country, is a monument to the sustained, managed decline of the United States. As our capital, the District is an unmistakable symbol of a pervasive mediocrity, at every level. Every aspect of the city, from top to bottom, operates in exactly the same way.
Take the police department, for example. By now you may have seen the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPM8QoXclUQ">viral clip</a> of the Police Chief, a woman named Pamela Smith, at a press conference with the mayor the other day. In this footage, she appears perplexed by the term &#8220;chain of command,&#8221; as if she&#8217;s never heard those words before in her entire life. A lot of people mocked that clip, and rightfully so. A police chief who doesn&#8217;t understand the concept of &#8220;chain of command&#8221; is a bit like a cook who&#8217;s never heard of the word &#8220;kitchen.&#8221; It&#8217;s the kind of jaw-dropping moment that doesn&#8217;t seem like it could possibly be real.
As bad as that clip was, the entire answer that Smith gave is even worse. The more context you provide for the clip, the more excruciating it becomes. It is important play the full context. Watch as a reporter tries, for more than a minute, to ask Smith about the extent of the federal government&#8217;s control of the D.C. police department. For all practical purposes, as we know, the White House has assumed command of the D.C. police for the next 30 days, pursuant to their legal authority over the District. But Smith seems to struggle with this concept. She implies, repeatedly, that the D.C. police are going to be working alongside the federal government as partners, without giving any indication of who&#8217;s actually in charge. And then, when the reporter finally asks the question as directly as he can, the police chief gives her now-infamous answer. Watch:

The way Muriel Bowser swoops in, at precisely that moment, is probably the most revealing part of that clip. She knows how incompetent her police chief is. So she takes over, before things get any worse. Presumably, Bowser didn&#8217;t want the police chief to expound on all of the other words and phrases she doesn&#8217;t understand. After all, when your crime lab isn&#8217;t even accredited and your murder rate is higher than Baghdad&#8217;s, there&#8217;s only so many more hits to morale the city can take.
After this footage aired, a lot of people pointed out that Smith was not hired based on merit. Instead, a couple of years ago, she was hired as the chief &#8220;equity officer&#8221; in the D.C. police department. She was a &#8220;DEI hire&#8221; in every sense. And then, very quickly, she rose to become chief of police. It would be like elevating a DEI consultant to be the CEO of, say Microsoft. It&#8217;s a decision that makes no sense whatsoever.
At the time, when Smith got the job, local media in D.C. wasn&#8217;t interested in asking her about anything substantive. Instead, of course, they highlighted her skin color and gender, as well as her life story. Watch:

Washington D.C. is a District that, if it became a state, would have the highest murder rate in the entire country. It&#8217;s so dangerous that members of Congress are being carjacked and beaten in their apartments. The security detail for a Supreme Court justice was nearly carjacked, before they shot the attackers. The only relevant question, when you&#8217;re picking a police chief for a place like this, is what exactly the police chief is going to do about the carnage that&#8217;s unfolding every day. Instead, we&#8217;re told she&#8217;s a nice lady. She&#8217;s black. And she had a tough upbringing. Those were her qualifications.

It&#8217;s not an exaggeration to say that the local media did precisely zero vetting of this woman, nor did anyone in the D.C. government. At most, she was asked superficial questions, with no follow-ups. In a separate interview, for example, the local ABC affiliate asked Smith what she was going to do about all of the murdering that was going on in Washington D.C.
Here&#8217;s how she responded:

They&#8217;re going to &#8220;come up with a plan,&#8221; according to Smith. The plan will address the murders. And it will address the lack of police officers, too. But you don&#8217;t get to know what the &#8220;plan&#8221; is. That would just be ridiculous. Any questions?
That was good enough for the local ABC affiliate. They asked no follow-ups. But in retrospect, it seems like we all know what the &#8220;plan&#8221; was. As we <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-moves-to-end-d-c-s-third-world-lawlessness-democrats-lose-it?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Matt+Walsh&amp;category=Opinion&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=Trump+Moves+To+End+D.C.%E2%80%99s+Third-World+Lawlessness.+Democrats+Lose+It.">discussed</a> yesterday, it looks a lot like the plan in D.C. was to fabricate crime statistics. Instead of taking a report for a carjacking or a stabbing or a shooting, officers would classify the incident as &#8220;taking an injured person to the hospital&#8221; or a &#8220;theft&#8221; or a &#8220;felony assault.&#8221; Apparently, according to the police union, when an incident is classified as a &#8220;felony assault,&#8221; it doesn&#8217;t get counted in the D.C. police department&#8217;s daily crime stats, or the FBI&#8217;s uniform crime reporting system. This is a loophole that, we can only assume, is being used by many, many other police departments.
Also, in many cases, D.C. police would simply refuse to respond to crimes, including robberies and assaults. That&#8217;s another way to cook the books, as we all know. And for the DEI lady running the police department, apparently, that&#8217;s good enough.
Again, though, this isn&#8217;t about this one person. Pamela Smith is obviously inept. She has no business holding the job that she does, and people are dying as a result. But really, she&#8217;s a part of a larger problem. And pretty much everyone can see that. In the past year, due to various incidents — prison escapes, terrorist attacks, and wildfires — several prominent government officials in major cities all across the country have been thrust into the national spotlight.

After a jihadi mowed down more than a dozen people in New Orleans, the elderly female police chief informed the world that she had no idea — no idea whatsoever — that the city had purchased pedestrian barriers that could have prevented the attack. Whoops. That would&#8217;ve been nice to know, she said.

Then, after the mob of &#8220;festival-goers&#8221; in Cincinnati brutally attacked white people at a music festival, which has long been a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y83e5lVccHI">state-sanctioned hotbed</a> of anti-white racism, the female police chief scolded the people who recorded the violence.

Earlier in the year, in Los Angeles, as wildfires destroyed entire neighborhoods while firefighters ran out of water, it emerged that the fire chief was a strong independent lesbian who was committed to advancing the LGBTQIIA+ agenda.

Meanwhile the deputy fire chief, another fiercely independent girlboss, shot a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/01/12/us-news/lafds-diversity-chief-sparks-fury-for-defending-dei-by-blaming-the-victim/">video</a> in which she downplayed the idea that female firefighters might not be able to rescue a man trapped in a fire by saying, and I, “He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.&#8221; In other words, it&#8217;s the victim&#8217;s fault, as he&#8217;s burning alive, that women can&#8217;t meet the physical standards necessary to be firefighters.
Just from a statistical perspective, there&#8217;s an obvious problem here. We all know that, in the private sector, women aren&#8217;t typically leading major companies. That&#8217;s true in spite of the fact that every Fortune 500 corporation goes out of its way to advance women as part of their DEI agenda. That&#8217;s because women often choose to raise families instead of climbing the corporate ladder. In many cases, they find that they&#8217;re either unwilling or unable to work 80 hours a week, wasting away their entire life in an office building in exchange for a promotion. Also, men and women are different, and men are often just more suited for those kinds of jobs. Women certainly don&#8217;t choose to become police officers or firefighters in large numbers, for obvious reasons. And yet, whenever there&#8217;s a big news story in the past year, we discover that women are somehow running the local police or fire department.
The only way to explain what&#8217;s going on is that these departments are hiring women who are unqualified for the job, solely because they&#8217;re women. That&#8217;s not a partisan point. It&#8217;s basic math. That&#8217;s why these women immediately face-plant on the national stage, the moment they have to respond to any kind of crisis. See, the thing about incompetence is that, very often, it&#8217;s not particularly well-hidden. We&#8217;re not talking about criminal masterminds here. These people only get away with it because, in pretty much every case, no one checks on what they&#8217;re doing. But increasingly, it&#8217;s becoming impossible to ignore what&#8217;s happening. The degree of incompetence is simply too great.
By taking control of Washington D.C. — if only for 30 days or so — the Trump administration has the opportunity to highlight this incompetence even further. The administration can provide a clear contrast between Pamela Smith and Muriel Bowser on the one hand, and competent leadership on the other. They can make sure that every relevant piece of evidence is shipped to a functioning crime lab. They can unseal the D.C. police department&#8217;s fraudulent investigation into January 6, including the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. They can use basic terms like &#8220;chain of command&#8221; without freezing like a deer in the headlights. And in the end, they can expose the extent to which American decline is a choice. We can shut it down, just as quickly as the crime lab was shut down. And before any more people are forced to suffer in the nation&#8217;s capital, or any other major city, that&#8217;s exactly what needs to happen.

“As you can see,” the young woman <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMOjfJWR8nQ/?igsh=cTlvajd6bWY3aHA1">says</a>, referring to the mound in her arms, “the state of the world has not been great.&#8221;
A mother <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/06/health/climate-anxiety-therapy.html">describes</a> the wave of guilt and shame that floods her when she contemplates buying plastic-wrapped snacks at Trader Joe’s. College students in an exercise designed to help them create plans to achieve their goals <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/podcasts/archive/2025/05/how-to-age-up-on-a-warming-planet/682762/">struggle</a> to envision anything but blankness or the apocalypse when picturing the future.
All around us, adults and children are struggling with their mental health after years of being bombarded with messages that a climate catastrophe is both inevitable and imminent. These feelings of dread and helplessness, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/02/17/gen-z-depression-anxiety-future-workforce">particularly</a> in the youngest generations, have inspired a new term: “climate” or “eco” anxiety.
Widespread climate anxiety is fueling the growth of a new specialty, with some psychologists building practices around treating the problem. Yet how to approach treatment has caused its own controversy. Mental health professionals like me are trained to keep our own views out of a counseling relationship. This would include offering any opinions about anthropogenic climate change. Other groups, such as climate activists, react poorly to viewing what they consider well-founded anxiety over climate as dysfunctional thinking.
But any thought patterns that inhibit daily functioning and contribute to depression, social withdrawal or distressing feelings need to be treated. In trying to raise awareness of a changing climate and potential implications, authority figures like teachers, topic experts and even hyperbolic climate news articles have gone too far.
Dr. Sarah Ray is the professor who <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/podcasts/archive/2025/05/how-to-age-up-on-a-warming-planet/682762/">discovered</a> her students simply couldn’t envision a positive future. “It wasn’t just that they were living in a scary world,” she said. “It was that they were getting information about a scary world in a very particular way.”
The answer is to stop scaring people. Fear is rarely motivating. People have to feel as if they can make a change or a difference. Fear tactics only encourage feelings of helplessness and overwhelm, leading to avoidance and disconnection.
Adults must learn how to navigate these issues for their own improved mental health, as well as for effective parenting and education of the next generation. Teaching children about climate change has too often strayed from providing necessary information to dumping unfiltered fears on impressionable kids.
“It&#8217;s essential for adults to learn how to manage stress and anxiety in their own lives so we don&#8217;t pass it on to the next generation,” licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist Amy Morin said in <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/what-mentally-strong-people-dont-do/202408/10-reasons-todays-kids-are-more-anxious-than-ever">Psychology Today</a>.
This might look like building better habits, such as limiting exposure to articles about climate (stop doomscrolling).
Another technique used in cognitive behavioral therapy is redirecting attention from something distressing to something lovable as a step towards finding agency. For example, I am passionate about reducing landfill waste. When I feel afraid and angry about the size of trash piles in the ocean or how much garbage we export to other countries, I try to remember that the feelings are secondary emotions pointing to what I love. I care because I love my community and my country. I care about the world. I love my children, and I want them to inherit a planet that is healthier, not more diseased from human carelessness. I believe we are called to be good stewards.
I can’t teach my children those values by yelling at them for being wasteful or terrorizing them with scary photos, just as I can’t keep them from using drugs by enrolling them in DARE. Instead, I have to teach them to live for something beyond themselves, but also to know that while they can’t solve massive problems on their own, there is hope in performing small positive actions.

If they are not overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem, they are better positioned to engage in the first place, individually and then in community. They will also be less vulnerable to misrepresentation of the facts if their ability to apply critical thinking is not shut down by the fear-triggered “fight, flight, or freeze” response of the amygdala in the brain. For example, instead of believing we should abandon fossil fuels, which would actually destabilize communities, they can evaluate the possibility of using technology to lessen their impact while pursuing more sustainable solutions.
Dr. Thomas Doherty has built a practice around helping people with climate anxiety. Along with coauthor Susan Clayton, they were among the first nearly 15 years ago <a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2011-09485-003">to suggest</a> that climate change would have a psychological impact on people. After Portland experienced a high-pressure system called a “heat-dome” that sent temperatures soaring, one client asked Dr. Doherty if they were all doomed.
“Dr. Doherty listened quietly. Then he told her, choosing his words carefully, that the rate of climate change suggested by the data was not as swift as what she was envisioning.
‘In the future, even with worst-case scenarios, there will be good days,’ he <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/06/health/climate-anxiety-therapy.html">told</a> her, according to his notes. “‘Disasters will happen in certain places. But, around the world, there will be good days. Your children will also have good days.’”
Humans won’t be able to solve the problems we are facing if, in pursuit of gaining acknowledgement of serious problems, we believe and have taught our youngest generations that there is nothing to live for. Dr. Ray may have put it best.
“We just need better thoughts,” she <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/podcasts/archive/2025/05/how-to-age-up-on-a-warming-planet/682762/">said</a>. “It’s not about 10 things you can do to save the planet. There’s a hundred million books out there. This is like 10 things you can think about to save the planet.”
Better thoughts can be practiced. In the next encounter with a dramatic headline about climate change, try to pause. Remember first that every climate news and opinion article today has one goal: to get a reader to click. Headlines are written with that sole aim in mind. Fear sells. Don’t fall for it. I tell my clients to notice their feelings, then to redirect their thoughts to what they love and the specific things they are practicing to stay true to their values. This will energize people to continue to be part of solutions rather than perpetuating a cycle of impotent fear.
