<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/taylor-swift">Taylor Swift</a> made a joke about using <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/occult">witchcraft</a> to create a perfectly timed moment during a Saturday performance in Buenos Aires, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/argentina">Argentina</a>.
The Grammy Award-winning singer was performing the song “Labyrinth” from her 2022 album, Midnights. Fans were delighted at the point that Swift sang the lyric, “I thought the plane was going down / How’d you turn it right around,” as an airplane could be seen flying over the venue.
Swift shared a clip of that moment to her X account, writing in the caption, “Never beating the sorcery allegations.” This likely refers to some viral TikToks equating her performances of “Willow” to coven gatherings.

The official “Willow” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsEZmictANA">music video</a> includes occult and ritualistic imagery when Swift goes into the woods at night with other individuals in hooded cloaks and masks. They all dance around a fire in a display that some deemed a celebration of witchcraft.
During a 2020 <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/music/a34942552/taylor-swift-willow-lyrics-meaning/">YouTube Q&amp;A</a>, Swift said the instrumentals for the song reminded her of &#8220;casting a spell to make someone fall in love with you.&#8221;
The imagery doesn’t match the lyrics, but the aesthetic has been carried into Swift’s Eras Tour performance. There are multiple <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@santidomzd/video/7289728423306579206?_r=1&amp;_t=8hL7VvxmbgU">videos</a> on TikTok of audience members at the theatrical release of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” also dancing around in circles in theaters when that song comes on.
Fans were also excited about Swift’s show on Saturday as her NFL paramour Travis Kelce and his dad were in attendance. The “Karma” singer changed the lyrics slightly to address her new romance, singing, &#8220;Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me,&#8221; as the audience erupted into cheers.
After the show, fans caught Swift in a rare display of PDA as she ran into Kelce’s arms and gave him a kiss in front of the packed stadium. 
During the singer’s last Buenos Aires show on Sunday, Swift asked fans to stop throwing items on stage. “Just because communication means having gentle, healthy boundaries, it really freaks me out when stuff gets thrown on the stage,” Swift told the crowd, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taylor-swift-says-it-really-freaks-me-out-after-concertgoer-throws-object-onstage">reported</a>.
“Because if it’s on the stage then a dancer can trip on it,” she said. “I love that you brought presents and that is so nice, but just, can you please not throw them on the stage? I love you so much.”

The 41-year-old tattoo artist, who became famous on the TLC series “LA Ink,” shocked fans when she began moving away from her dark, macabre aesthetic and publicly renounced <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/occult">occult items</a> in her home. In early October, she published a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kat-von-d-posts-video-of-her-christian-baptism-after-renouncing-occult-items-witchcraft">video on Instagram</a> of herself being baptized into the Christian faith.
Von D (Katherine von Drachenberg) made an appearance on BlazeTV host Allie Beth Stuckey’s podcast, &#8220;Relatable,&#8221; and said she’d been a longtime listener. The reality star said she was using “New Age stuff” as “bandaids” and “crutches,” never finding satisfaction in those items.
&#8220;When the lockdowns happened &#8230; [my husband Rafael Reyes] just said, &#8216;Hey, baby, I think we got it wrong. You know, I think we got a lot of things wrong,'&#8221; she said during the interview.
&#8220;You have to understand at the time &#8230; BLM was going hard,&#8221; Drachenberg told Stuckey. &#8220;I was in the middle of it. Like, I lived three doors down from the mayor of L.A., so we had Antifa, like, on our front yard, you know, after they threatened to do the Molotov cocktails and stuff like that. &#8230; So we were just, like, seeing things in real time, and they were much worse in real life than I think what people even put on TV.&#8221;
She continued, &#8220;I started just kind of, like, re-evaluating, kind of going down the list of what I&#8217;m doing with my life. And it got to the part of my spirituality, and that&#8217;s where I started really rethinking a lot of things.&#8221;

Later, the tattoo artist said she started comparing the lives of friends who did drugs and dabbled in the occult with friends who practiced the Christian faith. That’s when she started noticing a difference.

“My husband and I, we look at a Rolodex of friends that we have, and the ones that are dictating their life through that, and they’re leading their life through that, and they’re making their decisions through tarot or, you know, some of the witchcraft stuff … they’re all so miserable,” Drachenberg said.
&#8220;They&#8217;re the most broke people. Usually, most of them are single; they don&#8217;t have stability — and I&#8217;m talking about both financial and the love around them, right? There&#8217;s always this drama and dread and doom and gloom,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I was one of them, you know. &#8230; I would look around at my Christian friends, and I&#8217;m like, they&#8217;re not perfect by any means, but I want what you have, you know? Like, I love the light that you have.&#8221;
Drachenberg said she’s been happy with the changes she made. &#8220;I feel like I&#8217;m the best wife and the best mother I can be now because of the changes that I&#8217;ve had. I mean &#8230; it&#8217;s like a deprogramming has taken place. Things that I used to find attractive are disgusting to me, you know? And it&#8217;s like, I wish I could put into words like how amazing those changes are,” she said.

After posting a video of herself being baptized into the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christianity">Christian</a> faith, tattoo artist and reality TV personality <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Kat Von D</a> shared a lengthier account of her experience with faith and fan reactions.
The 41-year-old, whose real name is Katherine von Drachenberg, posted a 12-minute long video to Instagram Sunday night which detailed what has happened since she shared the baptism clip.
&#8220;I know that everybody&#8217;s on their own journey and it&#8217;s not for everybody, but this is where I&#8217;m at,&#8221; Von D said in the video. &#8220;And to me, my baptism was a public demonstration of where I stand with my faith, and basically letting people know that I&#8217;m not ashamed.&#8221;

But even though she’s not ashamed, the reality star said she isn’t planning to discuss her newfound faith publicly very often.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not for any other reason than I just don&#8217;t really feel equipped to be the poster child for Christianity,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I think that I&#8217;m still learning and as I do, I will become more equipped, but for the time being, I feel like I&#8217;ve never really been that and I don&#8217;t plan on doing that. So if you started following me because you think this will become some kind of Christian meme page, it&#8217;s not going to happen.&#8221;

She went on to discuss how she shares tidbits of her journey in hopes of helping others. &#8220;If there was anybody out there that felt like they were at a crossroads and don&#8217;t feel like you fit in — because I don&#8217;t feel like I fit in anywhere now or that I ever have, to be honest with you — you&#8217;re not alone,&#8221; she said. &#8220;And it&#8217;s crazy how many people in my DMs and stuff shared with me what they&#8217;ve been going through too, so it&#8217;s kind of cool to be able to connect in that way.&#8221;

The celebrity, whose real name is Katherine von Drachenberg, is known for promoting a stereotypical dark, macabre aesthetic in her home and manner of dress.
Kat Von D shared the video montage of her baptism on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/instagram">Instagram</a> on Tuesday, posting nothing but a cross as the caption. “Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptize you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” the pastor said before baptizing her. 
Von D, who was wearing a white robe, came out of the water and hugged him.

This move comes after the 41-year-old TV personality publicly spoke about getting rid of some personal items she deemed inappropriate for her life.

But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” the “LA Ink” star continued.

Kat Von D Posts Video Of Her Christian Baptism After Renouncing Occult Items, Witchcraft

Former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/disney">Disney</a> star Vanessa Hudgens is coming out with a new reality movie documenting her exploration of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/occult">witchcraft</a>.
The 33-year-old <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">actress</a> partnered with Bunim/Murray Productions to create the unscripted film, “Dead Hot: Season of the Witch,” per a report from <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/vanessa-hudgens-witchcraft-reality-movie-dead-hot-1235395654/">Variety</a>. The project follows Hudgens and her best friend, musician GG McGee, as they attempt to interact with the supernatural and head to Salem, Massachusetts, to deepen their connection to witchcraft. 
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">film</a> is in post-production and currently being shopped around, the publication reported. It’s being pitched as “The Craft” mixed with “The Simple Life.” 
“As self-taught students of witchcraft, intuitives and empaths they have been experimenting with and connecting to the spirit world,” the film description <a href="https://www.banijayrights.com/programmes/14120">says</a>. “They have begun to pull back the thin veil between the living and the dead, the darkness and the light, and good and evil.”
It continues, saying after a “ghost hunt gone wrong,” the duo heads to the city with a deep history of witchcraft for help. “Vanessa and GG embark on a pilgrimage to Salem, Massachusetts for a master class in witchcraft, the power of the goddess, and the Divine Feminine,” the description continues. 
“While they hone their craft, bind their sisterhood and step into their personal power, they unearth the personal demons holding them back from fulfilling their own destiny.”
Both Hudgens and McGee have been experimenting with the supernatural since childhood.
“They’ve been doing little spells since they were kids, and they were just really interested in that world,” Julie Pizzi, president of Bunim/Murray Productions, told Variety.
“They’re so into it,” Pizzi said. “As we got to know them, we realized that their curiosity in connecting with the spirit realm and paranormal and supernatural exploration was so much deeper than ghost hunting. It’s an exploration in the spiritual realm. It’s a lot about self love, and them finding their inner strength and power.”
“It’s entertainment first, but there’s a real, personal, spiritual journey that they both have together,” Pizzi continued. “It’s so emotionally raw that it really created such a beautiful narrative. It’s a lot about female empowerment.”
Hudgens is best known for her role in the popular “High School Musical” Disney series in the early 2000s. She’s also a musician and has had other acting roles in the years since. The Disney alum also spoke about her interest in the supernatural previously. 
“I’ve accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things,” she <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg-evdJ15ag">told</a> Kelly Clarkson earlier this year during an appearance on her show. “The unknown is scary, but I recently was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I’m going to lean into it.'&#8221;

Kat, whose real name is Katherine von Drachenberg, shared on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CgTLVNLLgL2">Instagram</a> why she’s no longer interested in items associated with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/occult">occult</a> practices. Per <a href="https://www.insider.com/kat-von-d-talks-about-witchcraft-macabre-books-2022-7">Insider</a>, Von D&#8217;s former beauty brand offered a tarot-inspired collection and a black lipstick color named &#8220;Witches.” Her current product assortment includes a coffin-shaped wallet.
“I don’t know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty meaningful realizations — many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past,” she began the Instagram post.
&#8220;Today, I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don’t align with who I am and who I want to be,” Kat continued. “I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.”
The mom of one next referenced a “spiritual battle” going on, which led her to rethink the items she kept in her home. The photos on the post included tarot cards and witchcraft books, among other things. 
“In no way is this post designed to put anyone down if you’re into this stuff, because I think we are all on our own journey, and I love everyone regardless of where they might be at. But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” the “LA Ink” alum wrote. 
“With that being said, I want to send extra love to everyone out there, and hope through some of these trying times, you are making meaningful changes in your life, too. Thanks for listening,” she concluded.
The social media comments were flooded with support.
“Mad props for taking time to reexamine where you are now and where you are going. It takes courage to go there and your son is so lucky to have a bad ass for a Mom. Keep it up!” one person replied.

Cabbage Patch Dolls, Furbies, Tickle Me Elmo … each year has its hot holiday toy list, which inevitably features one item that’s impossible to get even without supply chain issues. There are a couple of hot ticket items for Christmas 2021, but one magical-themed toy stands out from the rest.
The Magic Mixies Magical Misting Cauldron is essentially a stuffed animal with a gimmick attached. Promotional copy encourages kids to “mix your potion and make your pet!” This interactive toy comes with a plastic cauldron, “magical” ingredients, and a book of spells that help children “create” their stuffed animal from scratch. 
The <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Cream-Tea-Magic-Mixies-Cauldron/dp/B08S5GWF9F/r">Amazon</a> instructions for the Magic Mixies say, “Follow the spell by adding the magical ingredients to your Cauldron one step at a time, waiting for the green light and tapping 3 times…when the potion is finished watch as REAL MIST begins to rise from the Cauldron.” A new stuffed animal emerges from the mist in the pot.
Once that spell-casting is complete, kids can “make real Magic happen again and again” by reloading Magic Mixies back into the cauldron to show their friends, or they can make up their own spells using the “Spell Mode” of play. The item is selling out nationwide, with re-sellers offering Magic Mixies for exorbitant prices days before the Christmas holiday.
Pretend magic is nothing new. But this toy comes when there’s been an increased push to advertise occult entertainment to children in particular. The Disney cartoon “The Owl House” depicts a young girl serving as a witch’s apprentice and learning to become one herself. The series, which received accolades for LGBTQ+ representation, was just canceled in late 2021. 
Occult-themed entertainment for their children is so common it&#8217;s almost easy to miss. Movies like &#8220;Harry Potter&#8221; glamorize wizardry and witchcraft, so it&#8217;s not too shocking to find toy cauldrons that “magically” create cute stuffed animal toys. 
And witchcraft as a whole is growing in popularity among all age brackets, especially in the past five years. Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/american-witchcraft-rises-christianity-declines-paul-bois">reported</a> that the number of people who identify as witches outnumber those who are Presbyterians, according to a 2018 poll. These numbers grew throughout Trump’s presidency and represent the quest for young adults to find deeper meaning in their lives outside of organized religion.
“As Christianity declines across the country, paganism has swung to the mainstream, with witchcraft paraphernalia for sale on every high street and practices normalized across popular culture,” the Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/21/witchcraft-moves-mainstream-america-christianity-declines/">reported</a>. This has led to a booming $2 billion dollar industry that’s full of everything from tarot cards to crystals. 
“Whether it be spell-casting, tarot, astrology, meditation and trance, or herbalism, these traditions offer tangible ways for people to enact change in their lives,” a Brooklyn-based metaphysical boutique owner said. “For a generation that grew up in a world of big industry, environmental destruction, large and oppressive governments, and toxic social structures, all of which seem too big to change, this can be incredibly attractive.”

Explaining he thinks the actual number is probably quite low, Whitlock said, &#8220;Tucker, I’m going to say something difficult to unpack in this short amount of time, but it’s what I truly believe. I think a lot of what the Left supports is satanic. I’m just sorry. It&#8217;s in direct objection to God, in direct objection to the Judeo-Christian values that were at the foundation of this country. And those Christian values are why we made so much progress in terms of freedom and humanity and the way we treat everybody.&#8221;
“Yes, it was hard, but our Christian values compelled us to sacrifice our lives for the freedoms of other Americans, of slaves. And through the civil rights movement, our Christian values compelled us to take risks and fight for equality and the equality of opportunity for everybody,” Whitlock continued.
“I see a lot of what’s going on here is — I’m just sorry, I’m a man of faith, I was raised in the church, this stuff is satanic,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;That’s what’s at the foundation of a lot of this stuff.&#8221;
Carlson agreed, adding, &#8220;Well, I’m a pretty mild Protestant, personally, but I completely agree with you, especially the gender stuff. When you say you can change your own gender by wishing it, you’re saying you’re God, and that is satanic. I completely agree.&#8221;

Rapper Lil Nas X, also known as Montero Lamar Hill, showed up to the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday wearing a dress that likens the Catholic Church to Nazism.
Hill, who made headlines in March for rolling out a limited edition pair of custom Nike sneakers featuring satanic imagery and a drop of human blood, &#8220;first turned heads in a billowing gown that featured a plunging neckline, a corset-like bodice and an over-the-top bottom half,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1282410/lil-nas-x-just-made-two-major-fashion-statements-at-the-2021-bet-awards" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">E! Online</a>.
&#8220;As for the fabulous creation, it had a unique print that wrapped around the design. To complete his look, the 22-year-old star wore a matching blazer and dainty jewelry pieces,&#8221; the outlet continued.
As Popsugar reported, Hill&#8217;s &#8220;blue-and-white gown — created by <a class="track-outbound" href="https://www.instagram.com/andreagrossi___/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-ga-category="internal click" data-ga-label="https://www.instagram.com/andreagrossi___/?hl=en" data-ga-action="body text link">Andrea Grossi</a>, a young graduate from Polimoda Fashion Institute in Florence — has a print that you&#8217;ve got to zoom in on to get the message, in case the voluminous silhouette didn&#8217;t suggest he was making a statement.&#8221;
Grossi explained that the dress he designed, which is part of a project called &#8220;Welcome to DeusLand,&#8221; was intended to liken the Catholic Church to Nazism. &#8220;DeusLand&#8221; is an apparent play on &#8220;Deus,&#8221; the Latin word for God, and &#8220;Deutschland,&#8221; the German name for Germany. As Grossi <a href="https://www.notjustalabel.com/andrea-grossi" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">explained</a>:

In addition to his satanic sneakers, Hill got attention for a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6swmTBVI83k" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">music video</a> that depicts him giving a lap dance to Satan. As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rapper-lil-nas-x-rolls-out-line-of-bloody-satan-shoes-to-coincide-with-new-song-about-demonic-sex" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a>:

Etched into the tree’s bark is an ancient Greek quote from Plato’s “<a href="http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0173%3Atext%3DSym.%3Apage%3D191" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Symposium</a>” that translates: “Now when our first form had been cut in two, each half in longing for its fellow would come to it again.” The passage is a reference to ancient pagan views of dualism and sexuality that taught humans were originally male, female, and androgynous, and that homosexuality is an attempt to recover one’s primal nature.</blockquote>
Hill&#8217;s sneakers, of which only 666 pairs were made, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lil-nas-x-satan-shoes-sell-out-in-seconds" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">sold out</a> within seconds. A U.S. District Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nike-wins-first-legal-battle-against-lil-nas-x-satan-shoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">approved</a> Nike’s restraining order request against the company that collaborated with him on them, however, effectively blocking the further sale of the hellish shoes.

Nike filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against MSCHF, the shoe designer behind Lil Nas X’s now-infamous “Satan” sneakers Monday, alleging that the shoe design and marketing implied Nike is involved with the shoe.
The shoe maker cited a need to “set the record straight,” according to NBC News, after the shoes went viral on social media and some outraged individuals accused Nike of supporting the “Old Town Road” rapper&#8217;s embrace of the occult.
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamont Hill, is not named in the lawsuit, only MSCHF, which collaborated with Hill on the Satan shoe design, technically a follow-up to the shoe designer’s previously released &#8220;Jesus” shoe.
Nike had no involvement in either design; MSCHF reportedly modified deadstock Nike Air Max 97s, but the company is reportedly concerned that there has been “significant confusion” about its involvement or approval of the Satan shoe.
“Nike’s trademark infringement suit against MSCHF — Lil Nas X was not named as a defendant in the complaint — comes after many believed it was involved with the Satan Shoes, despite the company releasing a statement over the weekend saying it had nothing to do the manufacture or sale of the sneakers,” NBC News reported.
“The lawsuit argues that Nike must maintain control over its brand ‘by setting the record straight’ on what products bear its distinctive ‘SWOOSH’ logo,” the outlet noted.
The lawsuit makes clear that Nike believes its public image is suffering because of the controversy over Lil Nas X’s sneakers.
“In fact, there is already evidence of significant confusion and dilution occurring in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the launch of MSCHF’s Satan Shoes based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorized or approved this product,” the company said in its suit.
Nike did try to head off the public relations nightmare Sunday night, telling media as outrage erupted on social media that the company “do[es] not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.”
&#8220;We don’t have any further details to share on pending legal matters,&#8221; Nike added later in a statement following news of the lawsuit. &#8220;However, we can tell you we do not have a relationship with Lil Nas X or MSCHF.”
Nike is also clear about what it wants from MSCHF. The suit alleges that MSCHF infringed on Nike’s trademark “SWOOSH” logo, using it deliberately in order to drive interest in its sneakers, and Nike wants both financial damages and a permanent injunction, meaning Nike wants a federal judge to put a halt to sales of the “Satan” sneaker.
That will certainly have an impact on Lil Nas X’s bottom line even though he is not named as a defendant in Nike’s suit. As The Daily Wire reported earlier Monday, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lil-nas-x-satan-shoes-sell-out-in-seconds">all 666 pairs of the “Satan” sneakers</a> sold out in under a minute, despite the $1018 price tag.

Lil Nas X&#8217;s controversial &#8220;Satan Shoes&#8221; sold out in less than 60 seconds when they went up for sale Monday after being widely publicized for their demonic imagery.
Limited to 666 individually numbered pairs of Nike Air Max 97s, the satanic sneakers were modified by New York streetwear company MSCHF, and went for $1,018 each, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/style/article/lil-nas-x-mschf-satan-nike-shoes/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">CNN</a>. The soles contain a drop of human blood mixed with black ink — blood which reportedly came from MSCHF employees pricking their fingers.

MSCHF, which also stoked ire in 2019 for their &#8220;<a href="https://jesus.shoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jesus Shoes</a>,&#8221; confirmed to CNN via email on Monday that the shoes sold out within seconds. The company&#8217;s creative director Kevin Wiesner said Lil Nas X, who is also known as Montero Lamar Hill, will be keeping the first pair.
In addition to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nike-sues-over-lil-nas-x-satan-shoes" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">suing</a> MSCHF for copyright infringement, Nike has distanced itself from the modified product, telling CNN in a statement: &#8220;We do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.&#8221;

The shoes were announced to coincide with the release of the music video for &#8220;Montero (Call Me By Your Name),&#8221; which also offended many people for its depiction of Hill giving Satan a lap dance on the throne of hell. Rapper Lil Nas X, also known as Montero Lamar Hill, rolled out a limited edition pair of Nike sneakers featuring satanic imagery and a drop of human blood to coincide with his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6swmTBVI83k" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new music video</a> that depicts him giving Satan a lap dance.
The so-called &#8220;Satan Shoes,&#8221; which are 666 individually numbered pairs of Nike Air Max 97s that were modified by the company MSCHF, will be going for $1,018 beginning March 29.

As HOLR Magazine <a href="http://holrmagazine.com/the-powerful-meanings-lil-nas-xs-video-for-montero-cmbyn-holds-for-queer-audiences/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a>:
<blockquote>[Hill] is putting out a limited release of Nike sneakers that are all about the Prince of Darkness and his kingdom … right down to the box artwork and even the shoe design itself, which features a pentagram emblem sitting on the laces.
There’s also a 666 reference toward the back of the shoe … with another number in front of it, alluding to which limited unit it is. Word is, MSCHF/Nike are only dishing out 666 of these puppies to the public … so if you have 6/666, that seems to mean you got the 6th model.
Here’s the kicker … apparently, these shoes will contain one drop of human blood somewhere along the soles. And no, not the metaphorical blood, sweat and tears of the factory workers who will presumably put these together … like, actual plasma-filled red stuff.</blockquote>
Although the shoes are Nike brand, the “Satan shoes” project is not affiliated with Nike. A spokesperson for the company <a href="https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/nike-satan-shoes-lil-nas-x/">told Snopes</a>: “Nike did not release nor design these shoes.”
The 21-year-old Hill, a gay hip-hop artist who became famous for his hit song &#8220;Old Town Road&#8221; in 2019, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/01/05/953349880/lil-nas-x-says-children-are-his-core-audience-right-now-and-thats-ok" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">told NPR</a> in January that his core audience is children. Before releasing his Satan Shoes, Hill appeared with Elmo on &#8220;Sesame Street&#8221; and wrote a children&#8217;s book called &#8220;C Is For Country.&#8221;
Hill&#8217;s infernal footwear coincides with the release of the graphic new music video for his new song &#8220;Montero (Call Me By Your Name),&#8221; which trended at the top of YouTube with more than 25 million views as of Sunday afternoon. <a href="http://holrmagazine.com/the-powerful-meanings-lil-nas-xs-video-for-montero-cmbyn-holds-for-queer-audiences/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Replete with biblical and occult imagery</a>, the video depicts Hill being sexually seduced in the Garden of Eden by Satan in serpentine form, after which the camera cuts to the forbidden Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, made famous for its role in the Book of Genesis and the fall of man.
Etched into the tree&#8217;s bark is an ancient Greek quote from Plato&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0173%3Atext%3DSym.%3Apage%3D191" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Symposium</a>&#8221; that translates: &#8220;Now when our first form had been cut in two, each half in longing for its fellow would come to it again.&#8221; The passage is a reference to ancient pagan views of dualism and sexuality that taught humans were originally male, female, and androgynous, and that homosexuality is an attempt to recover one&#8217;s primal nature.
After being stoned to death by judgmental figures ostensibly condemning him for his sexuality, Hill then ascends toward an angelic being in heaven before sliding down to hell on a stripper pole. He discovers the devil sitting on his throne encircled with Latin that translates: &#8220;They condemn what they don&#8217;t understand.&#8221; After giving a lap dance to Satan, who happens to be wearing the expensive Nike shoes he is selling, Hill snaps his neck and assumes his horned crown.
Hill said dethroning Satan is symbolic of &#8220;dismantling the throne of judgment and punishment that has kept many of us from embracing our true selves out of fear,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/lil-nas-x-montero-call-me-by-your-name-video-church-of-satan-1147634/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rolling Stone</a>.
David Harris, magister for the Church of Satan, praised Hill for the video, telling Rolling Stone: “He obviously did his homework. Whether he consulted with us directly or did his own research, he clearly put a lot of effort into this video.”
The Church of Satan, founded by Anton LaVey in 1966, claims not to worship Satan as a deity but rather elevates the self and one&#8217;s own will as supreme. “Basically we worship ourselves. We refer to ourselves as I-theists,” Harris told Rolling Stone. “We see ourselves as our own god.”
Harris especially applauded the final scene of Hill&#8217;s video as particularly reflective of satanic principles. As Rolling Stone reported:
<blockquote>Indeed, the ending of the video, in which Lil Nas X snaps Satan’s neck and puts the horns on his own head to crown himself as a god, is what struck Harris as “the most Satanic part of the video.” “We view ourselves as the most powerful beings in the world. The fact that he crowned himself as Satan — now, that’s Satanic,” he says, noting it’s especially empowering in the context of Lil Nas X making a statement about his own journey as a black gay artist who has faced bigotry.
As for the infamous intratheistic lap dance, far from being sacareligious [sic], Satanists believe in all forms of consensual sexuality, so “someone giving a lap dance to anyone who wants one is obviously more than welcome within the confines of Satanism,” he says.</blockquote>
The Bible verse emblazoned along the side of Hill&#8217;s satanic sneakers is &#8220;Luke 10:18,&#8221; a verse in which Jesus Christ said, &#8220;I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.&#8221; The statement, which Jesus said in response to his disciples informing him they were able to perform exorcisms in his name, is considered by some scholars to be a reference to Satan&#8217;s original fall from heaven. Others, however, interpret it to be a description of Satan&#8217;s kingdom crumbling with the spread of the gospel.
As 18th-century biblical commentator Matthew Henry wrote of the passage:
<blockquote>Satan and his kingdom fell before the preaching of the gospel. “I see how it is,’’ saith Christ, “as you get ground the devil loseth ground.’’ He falls as lightning falls from heaven, so suddenly, so irrecoverably, so visibly, that all may perceive it, and say, “See how Satan’s kingdom totters, see how it tumbles.’’ They triumphed in casting devils out of the bodies of people; but Christ sees and rejoices in the fall of the devil from the interest he has in the souls of men, which is called his power in high places, Eph. 6:12.</blockquote>
