MediaFest says it’s the largest media convention in the country, aimed at both student and professional “journalists.” This year, one of our top writers, White House correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan, was set to participate in a session for young reporters on how her faith fits into her work.
Until they found out she was a conservative.
That’s the story from the <a href="https://www.cjr.org/feature/student-journalism-mediafest-fraught-religion-faith-reporting.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Columbia Journalism Review</a>, which revealed yesterday that Olohan and another journalist, The Daily Signal’s Virginia Allen, were pulled from the event after complaints from a he/him “student media adviser” at Oregon State University named <a href="https://see.oregonstate.edu/directory/steven-sandberg">Steven Sandberg</a>.
Sandberg had been “browsing” the event schedule when he saw, according to CJR, a “portion of the conference called the ‘Faith Track’” that included authors with “pretty far-right, anti-LGBTQ language.”
Sandberg alerted the “non-partisan” organizers of the conference and told them that “LGBTQ students are feeling targeted by our administration, by the government, and by society.” Sandberg told them he was “disappointed to see them bring in people who espoused anti-LGBT views,” and they buckled.
Olohan was alerted that she’d been removed from the event by the ethics committee chairman at the Society of Professional Journalists, a man named Michael Koretzky, who told other organizers that they “found reporting problems” with Olohan’s work.
The only problematic article cited from Olohan, who has without question broken more stories of consequence in her young career than Koretzky will in his lifetime, was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-bill-would-block-abortionists-from-flushing-baby-remains-into-public-water-systems?author=Mary+Margaret+Olohan&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=EXCLUSIVE%3A+Bill+Would+Block+Abortionists+From+Flushing+Baby+Remains+Into+Public+Water+Systems" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an exclusive</a> on a bill from Congressman Brandon Gill that would make it illegal to dump aborted baby remains into publicly-owned water systems.
The suggestion from Koretzky was that the article wasn’t balanced enough. Now, if he has an abortionist who would like to defend flushing babies down the toilet, we’d love to dig into that belief. But we never believed the issue was with our journalism, and now, that’s confirmed.
Koretzky was looking for an excuse to cancel Olohan because Sandberg and the pronoun mafia demanded he do so, and the angry left is the real ombudsman of the liberal media elite. And Sandberg was so proud of his work that he ran to the Columbia Journalism Review to tell the story of how he preserved a safe space for his LGBTQ students.
Any suggestion that MediaFest will be a conference with balance is delusional. One of the featured speakers will be New York Times grifter Nikole Hannah-Jones, who has made <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-creator-raked-in-1m-last-year-for-college-speeches-on-inequality?author=Luke+Rosiak&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=1619+Project+Creator+Raked+In+%241M%2B+Last+Year+For+College+Speeches+On+Inequality" target="_blank" rel="noopener">millions of dollars</a> spreading lies through the 1619 Project, which argues that systemic racism is in America’s DNA.
We challenge the Society of Professional Journalists to find a single piece of balanced work she’s ever produced, but guarantee that it will find them all as radical as her most recent piece, which <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/magazine/charlie-kirk-rhetoric.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attacked Charlie Kirk as a bigot</a> just a few days after he was laid to rest.
Her session at MediaFest is titled, “How journalists can (and should) cover attempts to erase Black history.” It will be moderated by Koretzky’s colleague at Society of Professional Journalists, Celia Wexler, who serves as the group’s Washington, D.C., president.
We don’t expect Koretzky to get it, nor do we understand how he’s been put in charge of ethics of anything. His body of work includes a 2019 piece inspired by a convention he attended with high school journalists — about all the sex he’s had in his life.
We wish we were joking. Its <a href="https://journoterrorist.com/2019/04/11/news-to-me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opening line</a> (we don’t recommend clicking, but it’s hard to believe without the proof) is: “Almost all the sex I’ve had is because of journalism.” It goes on to tell the tale about a time a “sexual encounter” at a journalism conference ended in “bloodshed” because he was bitten on the penis.
Again, he was inspired to write this because he was “presenting a couple of sessions tomorrow to high school journalists.”
A year later, <a href="https://journoterrorist.com/2020/02/12/banned/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">he wrote</a> about how he himself was now banned from attending certain journalism events because, he transparently explains, the aforementioned article on his sexcapades.
“We also were contacted by students and spoke with members who were extremely concerned about your blog post related to seemingly non-consensual sex and journalism conventions,” he says he was told. There was also an accusation that he told a student he could “make or break her career.” He denies it.
We’re partly glad Olohan is, as the kids say, “marked safe” from the MediaFest confab, but also disheartened.
Every few years, the liberal media elite proclaim that they care about being balanced and hearing both sides. And we’re sure that every few years there are people who believe them. Don’t be one of those people.
Young journalists don’t need MediaFest or the Society of Professional Journalists anymore. They will teach you to do everything wrong, and you’ll end up like Koretzky or Sandberg.
There are now great alternatives, like the National Journalism Center, The Fund For American Studies, and even conservative undergraduate journalism programs like the one at Hillsdale College.
The young journalists gathering at MediaFest are being trained to believe that there is only one set of acceptable facts, even if it doesn’t fall on the same side as objective truth. The prospect of hearing the other side has media advisers like he/him Sandberg throwing up arms.
The media elite don’t actually believe there are two sides. That’s why when Elon Musk opened up X to free speech, they ran away to BlueSky — which, not coincidentally, is where you can find most of the journalists featured on MediaFest’s panels.
But they’re also not the real elite anymore. Their monopoly on information has shattered, in a large part because Americans are increasingly turning to reporters like Olohan and The Daily Wire for news.

Since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, I have been discussing the idea that the Left has created permission structures for violence.
Their argument goes like this. If you make a point that they disagree with, that is a denial of their identity. It is an act of implicit violence. And that act of implicit violence is to be met with actual violence.
Thus, you will see Democrats using language like “fascist!” with regard to Republicans on a routine basis. You&#8217;ll see Democrats claiming day in and day out that there are brutal attacks on black people in the country, attacks that can only presumably be met with force, and then openly praising people who have used terrorism in the past.
It&#8217;s these sorts of arguments that create the permission structures for violence.
And those permission structures find their apex at The New York Times. As a newspaper, The New York is perhaps the chief purveyor of this permission structure. It has spent virtually every day since the assassination of Charlie Kirk — with the exception of Ezra Klein’s work — pushing that permission structure for violence.  
Right after Charlie died, they had not one, but two separate pieces concerning Hasan Piker, the Twitch streamer who is more than warm to terrorist violence. They had one piece that was an obit for Charlie by Hasan Piker, basically blaming capitalism for Charlie&#8217;s death. And then they had a profile of Piker, as though he were some sort of great exemplar of moral debate, anti-violence debate, which is insane. He has endorsed the use of violence over and over.
But over the weekend, they truly outdid themselves. The New York Times decided that there had been too much tolerance for opposing views in The New York Times. That had to stop.
And so they called forth the Halley&#8217;s Comet of stupidity. They appear upon the horizon once every few years. They emerge from their cozy sinecures, being overpaid to do virtually nothing by The New York Times and other elite publications.
So they trotted out Ta-Nehisi Coates and Nikole Hannah-Jones, who is back from the intellectual dead. She hasn&#8217;t written anything for years, but she&#8217;s still on The New York Times’ payroll.

Ta-Nehisi Coates chided the Times’ Ezra Klein for the great sin of being upset over Charlie&#8217;s death. Ta-Nehisi Coates, who just wrote a book calling Israel an apartheid state, likening Israel to the Jim Crow South, not mentioning Palestinian terrorism once; Ta-Nehisi Coates, the same person who has over and over and over again made light of terrorism, including 9/11, was the perfect person for The New York Times to bring in as a voice of morality.
What was he upset about? He was upset that Ezra Klein had written a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/opinion/ezra-klein-podcast-ta-nehisi-coates.html">couple of columns</a> in which he treated Charlie Kirk as a good example of people trying to debate issues.
“I worry we are already in a cycle of political violence, of mimetic violence. I think about Pelosi. I think about Shapiro. I think about the near assassination of Trump,” Klein stated.
“After that happened, I thought about me. I thought about you. I thought about all kinds of people I know. So I do think there&#8217;s something about when violence takes hold, there&#8217;s something about it that begins to breach our lines. That&#8217;s part of my reaction too,” he said.
Coates replied, “I think all of that is understandable. But was silence not an option?&#8221;
But was silence not an option? You&#8217;re supposed to stay silent when a major political commentator on the other side of the aisle is shot to death while debating issues?
Yes, according to Coates, because Charlie thought the wrong things. 
Coates then turned to his usual routine about how America is a deeply evil and racist place. And then he mischaracterized Charlie&#8217;s positions over and over and over again, calling Charlie a racist, lying about what Charlie had to say, and suggesting that Charlie made the debate worse. 
Of course, Coates himself didn&#8217;t make the debate worse by suggesting over and over and over that America was deeply racist, unfixable, terrible, so terrible he had to run out of the country while simultaneously writing comic books for DC comics.
No, it was Charlie who was really the problem.
But that wasn&#8217;t all. On the same day that happened, The New York Times printed an essay by Nikole Hannah-Jones.
She&#8217;s a person who, when she was criticized for her historical inaccuracies in her awful 1619 Project — which was a gigantic propaganda attempt by The New York Times to recast all of American history as the outgrowth of slavery — when she was criticized by actual historians, people who were not even from the Right, such as Gordon Wood or Sean Wilentz, she came out and basically said, “Well, they&#8217;re all white, aren&#8217;t they?”
People said that the riots that happened in 2020 could be called the 1619 riots. And she cheered that; she thought it was good.
Her essay about Charlie was egregiously terrible. She wrote:
<blockquote>The day Charlie Kirk was killed, Dominic Durant’s 11-year-old daughter came home from her middle school in Tulsa, Okla., and told her father that her friends had been very upset about his death, and that they felt she should be upset, too. “I’m sad,” she said, tears in her eyes.
Durant struggled with how to respond. He, too, had been appalled by the act of violence. But his young daughter did not know much about Kirk, and he worried she would look him up on YouTube and come across the many ugly assertions the right-wing activist had made about Black Americans like them. For instance, Kirk had claimed that four prominent and successful Black women, who all went to Ivy League universities — Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the former first lady Michelle Obama, the TV host Joy-Ann Reid and former Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas — did not “have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously” and had to “go steal a white person’s slot.” He’d argued that “Black America is poorer, more murderous, more dangerous” than when Black people were living under Jim Crow.
Durant did not want his daughter thinking that because her friends were grieving him that the things Kirk had claimed were acceptable or right.
It was a difficult and heart-rending conversation, grappling with how his daughter’s classmates could admire a man who’d said such hurtful things. “I said it’s natural to be sad and I don’t want to change your opinion about being sad,” Durant recounted to me. “But I am explaining to you that the gentleman who just got shot was under the impression that you, as a young Black woman, don’t have the brain processing power. So I am explaining it to you to let you know what he said was wrong and not true.”</blockquote>
Charlie never said that. What Charlie said is that if you are an affirmative action admittee, the tacit admission there is that you couldn&#8217;t make it without affirmative action points. And then he pointed out that Ketanji Brown Jackson was put in place because of affirmative action, and has not exactly performed well on the Supreme Court.
But he never said anything such as “all black women don&#8217;t have brain processing.” That&#8217;s ridiculous. Charlie would never say that.
The entire piece by Nikole Hannah-Jones is a complete mischaracterization of Charlie&#8217;s positions in order to minimize the tragedy of his death.
<blockquote>As a Christian, Durant also felt he had to address Kirk’s version of Christianity, which condemned and disparaged people who are gay and transgender. Kirk once posted, “The pride and trans movements have always been about grooming kids.” </blockquote>
If you read the entire tweet, here is what the actual tweet says.
<blockquote>“Trans actor Elliot Page, formerly known as Ellen explains that queer stuff is no longer niche because 30% of young people are now LGBTQ. The pride and trans movement have always been about grooming kids. They call it normalizing. They cannot procreate, so they recruit and now they&#8217;re bragging about it.” </blockquote>
What Charlie meant was that there is a social contagion with regard to things like trans. That is statistically true.
<blockquote>This intolerance was not reflective of Durant’s own understanding of Jesus or the Gospel, nor the faith his family practiced. “I reminded her not to be a hypocritical Christian,” he said. ”I told her, You know, the Good Book, the Bible, says you judge a man as he lived, not as he died.”</blockquote>
Put aside the fact that the anti-Biblical explanation of sexuality that is put forth by the Left truly does not accord with the words of either the Old Testament or the New Testament. This entire piece is designed to mischaracterize Charlie&#8217;s beliefs in order to suggest that the laments for Charlie are undeserved. That is the entire idea.
She essentially tries to call Charlie a white supremacist. She quotes another left-wing activist who stated that Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric of “Christian white nationalism, anti-transgender, quote anti-woke culture-war framing, this isn’t on the edge anymore. It has moved into what many consider the center of Republican identity.”

This is what The New York Times is pushing: that Charlie and all conservatives are a threat, an open and evil threat, and so laments for their deaths are misguided.
“Can&#8217;t you just remain silent?” in the words of Ta-Nehisi Coates. And according to Nikole Hannah-Jones, do they really deserve the kind of sadness that people are pouring out upon them?
The New York Times, as always, remains a repository of crap.

The entire Kamala Harris campaign relies on you knowing nothing about Kamala Harris.
First rule of Kamala Harris Fight Club: Nobody talks about Kamala Harris. You must never mention her positions. You must never mention what her crap administration has done. You must never mention anything of the sort. And you must certainly never attempt to get to the underlying philosophy that motivates her politics. You must never ever attempt to do that.
That’s because if you dig just a tiny bit, you find that the Democratic Party has gone so radically far to the Left that they are now indistinguishable from the Democratic Socialists of America. That is the reality.
Look at the great “intellectual luminaries” of the Democratic Party. I&#8217;m not talking about the politicians; I&#8217;m talking about the thought leaders.
Among those <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-usual-suspects-claim-gays-ouster-was-coordinated-racist-attack-it-doesnt-go-well">thought leaders</a> is Nikole Hannah-Jones. You may not have heard about Hannah-Jones recently because, after all, she hasn&#8217;t done any actual work for the last five years. She wrote the absolutely fictitious “The 1619 Project” and in 2020 was given a Pulitzer for it. It is trash. The entire 1619 Project is rooted in the idea that every element of American life is built on the foundation of slavery, and thus morally corrupt and evil and must be wiped away.
The 1619 Project falsifies history, as professional historians have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-book-panned-by-historians-hits-amazons-bestseller-list" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out.</a> But this supposed genius was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2017. She is the apotheosis of a “Democratic intellectual.” She gave a <a href="https://www.bmc.org/eqty2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speech recently</a> in which <a href="https://x.com/6gems/status/1828522478852771875" target="_blank" rel="noopener">she said</a>, “You know what COVID taught me? That we have enough for everybody. Overnight, we printed $6 trillion. We had universal health care. We had universal basic income. COVID proved it&#8217;s possible.”
If that sounds like communism to you, that&#8217;s because it is communism. You may recall that COVID ended with a 40-year high in inflation, a massively spiraling debt problem, and the complete shutdown of the American economy.
You might remember because you were there. But according to Hannah-Jones, that was amazing. That is what America ought to look like. It ought to look like the government paying you to stay home, shutting down your business, and then compensating you for shutting down your business. The government ought to provide everything for free, and it will have no impact.
In June, Hannah-Jones <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dVGFzvOKdQ">said</a>:
<blockquote>Y’all remember this thing called a pandemic? Y&#8217;all remember that? Do you remember how when all of a sudden all of America was experiencing what black people experience regularly, high unemployment rates, housing instability, inability to access health care, we printed 3 to $6 trillion overnight, overnight. And all of a sudden you couldn&#8217;t evict people. We had universal housing. Anybody who wanted to go get their shot didn&#8217;t have to show a lick of paper or a dollar. Nothing. You showed up, You got the shot.
We paid people income, universal income. My cousin Shamir, who&#8217;s in the 1619 documentary in the capitalism episode, started working at 15 years old. The most she ever made was when she got laid off for COVID and got a check from the government to stay at home. The most she ever made. And she cried about it because she was like, “I have been able to save $1,000 for the first time in my life only because all these people are dying out here. That&#8217;s the first time America cared about me.” </blockquote>
The proposal is free money.
The reason the government compensated people during COVID is because the government told them they could not work. The government said you cannot go to school. You cannot go into your place of work. You have to shut down your business. They shut down the entire country, and then they had to do something so people could remain living.
They took away your livelihood, which is not the same thing as a high unemployment rate that results from high levels of high school dropouts, single motherhood, or dysfunction in the home, community, or schools.
It’s not the same, but this is the actual ideal Democrats are shooting for. They won&#8217;t say it out loud because if they ever did, people would recognize how ugly it is. The big problem for the Democrats with Hannah-Jones is that she&#8217;s constantly saying the Democratic ideal out loud.

The reality is that the Biden-Harris administration has tried a lot of this.
Blowing money into the economy, the modern monetary theory that debt doesn&#8217;t matter, that doing so creates a rising tide lifting all boats doesn’t work.
It&#8217;s amoral. Money doesn&#8217;t grow on trees. It&#8217;s not magically popping out of the ground because the Federal Reserve says it is. Money is merely a mechanism of exchange. Money does not have its own inherent value any more than inches have their own inherent value on a ruler. It is a measure and a way of quantifying exchange. That is all money is. That&#8217;s all it’s ever been.
But for the Democrats, the Democratic Party, and Harris, the basic idea is the government can magically make money and then just give it out, and that&#8217;s what makes the economy go. That is the basic theory of leftism when it comes to economics. It&#8217;s the basic Keynesian theory as to how economics should work.
But the actual result is people feel left behind — because it doesn&#8217;t actually work that way.
We are now spending more money year on year than any country in the history of the planet. Yet fewer Americans feel they can achieve what the government has been promising them: the home, the family, the retirement.
That&#8217;s not a spending problem. That is something else. It is a perversion of all the incentives leading people to make the right decisions that allow them to build a home and a family and a retirement. Only <a href="https://www.wsj.com/economy/consumers/american-dream-poll-us-economy-e5ddf640?mod=hp_lead_pos7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">10% of Americans</a> believe home ownership is easy or somewhat easy to achieve.
Guess whose fault that might be.
How about the Biden-Harris administration, which has created the most unaffordable housing market in history? Look at all the restrictions the Democrats have put on building all across the country. Look at how they have inflated the currency, which means an increase in the interest rates, which means higher mortgage rates. Then, nobody wants to sell their homes to end up with a higher mortgage.

In 2005, George W. Bush suggested privatizing Social Security and Democrats went nuts. In January 2005, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 10,603. Bush was pointing out Social Security is a pyramid scheme. If we had taken the money, put it in an index fund, and left it there until now, trillions of dollars would have flowed into Social Security because today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is 41,000.
Instead, the federal government was left in charge of the program, so they could raid it whenever necessary.
That is Democratic policy making: You cannot bring the private markets to bear on anything.
Democrats have said everyone needs to go to college, and we need to pour money into student loans. And the cost of college has shot up and the worth of a degree has dropped precipitously.
Harris is proposing $5 trillion in tax increases, including a 28% federal corporate tax rate and a 44.6% top capital gains and dividend tax rate, which would give America the highest total tax rate on corporate income in the developed world.
Democrat policies fail.
And Harris, the most leftist major party presidential candidate in American history, has not been forced to answer for any of them.

New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah Jones tried to outgrievance a self-proclaimed survivor of the Chinese cultural revolution during a debate about &#8220;American exceptionalism&#8221; on Sunday.
Jones, the lead writer of the controversial revisionist education titled &#8220;1619 Project,&#8221; burst onto the political scene in 2019 with the 1619 project. However, her work has been widely criticized, and on Sunday, Jones took heat from debate opponent Xi Van Fleet after Jones claimed the &#8220;very presence&#8221; of black people is the &#8220;greatest rebuke&#8221; to American exceptionalism.
&#8220;Yourself and I, an immigrant from China with 200 borrowed dollars in my pocket when I arrived more than 30 yrs ago, are the proof of American Exceptionalism,&#8221; Van Fleet responded.
Van Fleet went viral two years ago after delivering an impassioned speech to a Virginia school board claiming CRT is rooted in cultural Marxism and warned Americans the communist subversion happening in the United States classroom mirrors the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which divided China&#8217;s population by class instead of race.
&#8220;Natural rights is unique to American founding,&#8221; Van Fleet said in response to Jones asking for specifics. &#8220;Bc of it we were able to abolish slavery, Jim Crow, anti-Chinese laws … to allow individuals to succeed. What is not unique to America is slavery, which still exists today. Ppl fighting for human rights in China are jailed by CCP.&#8221;
Jones did not deny natural rights &#8220;may have been unique&#8221; but argued one-fifth of the population was enslaved and without such rights during America&#8217;s foundation.
&#8220;Further, you do not think protesters in the US face state violence and arrest? You think the US has no political prisoners?&#8221; Jones asked, adding, &#8220;I&#8217;m afraid your vision of America does not match the reality.&#8221;
Van Fleet denounced the idea that her view of America is &#8220;not a vision.&#8221;
&#8220;Mine is &#8216;lived experience&#8217; under the enslavement of Communism, freedom in America, and the current Woke Revolution aiming to undo America,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Black Americans are enslaved no more thanks to the persevering principles and humanity of this country.&#8221;

In her own experience, Van Fleet has said living in America is the &#8220;biggest privilege&#8221; after emigrating to the United States in 1986 when she fled Mao&#8217;s Cultural Revolution, which he launched in 1966 until his death in 1976. Reports of the total number who reportedly died during the revolution claim up to 80 millions lives were taken during Mao&#8217;s rule.

Indiana taxpayers shelled out more than $100,000 to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-creator-raked-in-1m-last-year-for-college-speeches-on-inequality/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1619 Project</a> author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-writer-demanded-40k-for-45-minute-speech-busting-librarys-budget/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikole Hannah-Jones</a> for just over 24 hours of work, according to a contract obtained by The Daily Wire under public records laws.
The deal between the Trustees of Indiana University and Hannah-Jones&#8217; speakers bureau said the university would pay $101,700 for a &#8220;2022 Themester Lecture on Identity and Identification.&#8221; The &#8220;Themester&#8221; reference meant that for an entire semester, Indiana students were told to focus on the &#8220;theme&#8221; of identity.
&#8220;During the fall of 2022, we invite members of the College and campus community to reflect on identity and all that it entails,&#8221; the university&#8217;s <a href="https://themester.indiana.edu/policies-and-planning/themester-2022/index.html">website</a> says. &#8220;Race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, native language, socio-economic status, and myriad other identities shape our worldview: how we see, how we portray ourselves, and how we are perceived (and received).&#8221;
The &#8220;themester&#8221; is run by an advisory committee that includes a gender studies professor and undergraduates &#8220;majoring in Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance&#8221; and &#8220;Anthropology and Folklore and Ethnomusicology.&#8221;
Indiana is a deep-red state. Its governor, Eric Holcomb, is a Republican, and its state legislature is overwhelmingly Republican. The university did not return a Daily Wire request for comment on whether the six-figure sum was a wise expenditure of taxpayer money or whether it reflects the desires of Indiana&#8217;s electorate.

The lavish paycheck was in return for Hannah-Jones arriving on the afternoon on October 19 and participating in two classroom discussions followed by a &#8220;dinner-party with invited students and Union Board directors involving some discussion, but no prepared remarks from Speaker.&#8221; The next day, she was to participate in two more classroom sessions, followed by a &#8220;30-min public lecture, and 30 minutes of moderated discussion/q&amp;a with the audience. A meet/greet and booksigning will conclude the program.&#8221;
The $101,700 is the largest known sum of taxpayer money paid for a single engagement to the woman who has parlayed her assertions that America is &#8220;one of the most unequal societies in the history of the world&#8221; into a lucrative enterprise. Hannah-Jones was raised in Iowa, the daughter of a mixed-race couple.
The Daily Wire previously obtained records for 11 speeches she made in 2022, averaging $40,000 even though some were made online. She made at least 33 speeches last year, which at that average figure would work out to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-creator-raked-in-1m-last-year-for-college-speeches-on-inequality" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$1.2 million</a> in 2022 speaking fees.
Most of the speeches were at universities, despite <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/historians-shred-nyt-1619-project-claiming-slavery-defines-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">historians</a> from across the political spectrum pointing to significant errors in her writing, down to the foundational assertion that America&#8217;s colonists fought for independence from Britain in order to preserve slavery.
The speeches also serve to promote her book, which earned an estimated $2 million in royalties.
Among her other income sources, Hannah-Jones received nearly $75,000 not to work at the University of North Carolina last year as part of a legal settlement. In 2020, Hannah-Jones inked a deal with Oprah Winfrey and Lionsgate to develop 1619 “into an expansive portfolio of feature films, television series and other content,” including a Hulu series that will premier this month.
Despite her heavy speech schedule, the New York Times Magazine writer is employed by Howard University following the Knight Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation and other philanthropists earmarking $25 million.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-evidence-do-you-have-chris-wallace-throws-down-with-nikole-hannah-jones-on-cnn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikole Hannah-Jones</a>, the creator of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-writer-demanded-40k-for-45-minute-speech-busting-librarys-budget/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1619 Project</a>, raked in big bucks from dozens of colleges last year giving speeches condemning America and shaming her audiences for belonging to “one of the most unequal societies in the history of the world,” according to pay records examined by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>.
Some 33 speeches Hannah-Jones made in 2022 netted her an estimated payday of more than $1.2 million, according to a Daily Wire analysis. Twenty-seven of those speeches were made at colleges, including 14 at public schools, for an estimated $1 million. The Daily Wire&#8217;s estimate is based on records from 11 schools which responded to Freedom of Information requests and showed payments averaging $40,000 each.
The $1.2 million figure likely significantly understates the total since the list of speeches is incomplete and private institutions may have paid Hanah-Jones even more than the typical $40,000 fee forked over by public schools.
For some, she collected tens of thousands of dollars without having to leave the house. For example, the Cleveland Public Library paid her $20,000 for a Zoom lecture on November 19. Others included perks like first-class airfare.
The $1.2 million in speaking fees could pay for a year of tuition for 175 students at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/community-college-pays-the-cost-of-20-students-tuition-for-celeb-diversity-lectures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grand Rapids Community College</a>, where Hannah-Jones spoke in January for $25,000, paid through a combination of school and private funds. In 2021, a parents group faulted the Oregon Department of Education for using funds intended to <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2021/06/10/oregon-yanks-money-from-struggling-students-program-to-pay-nikole-hannah-jones-for-lectures-on-race/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">benefit the neediest</a> to pay Hannah-Jones $50,000, amounting to $14,000 an hour.
The 1619 Project was a 2019 series in the New York Times Magazine that posited that anti-black racism has shaped every facet of American society. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/historians-shred-nyt-1619-project-claiming-slavery-defines-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Historians</a> across the political spectrum have said it contains serious factual errors, including the premise that &#8220;one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery.&#8221;
Hannah-Jones is half-white and half-black and was raised in Iowa. She has become wealthy by writing about the oppression of blacks in America, with speeches just one of many concurrent sources of revenue.
In July Hannah-Jones received $75,000 not to work at the University of North Carolina as part of a legal settlement. UNC offered her a job as a professor, but the board of trustees delayed granting her tenure before eventually agreeing to it. Hannah-Jones claimed racism and threatened to sue, and turned down the job after tenure was offered.
On top of the hefty speaking fees, many of the speeches serve as an opportunity to sell books. According to BookScan figures, <a href="https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones/1139222389?ean=9780593230572" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1619 Project: An Origin Story</a> has sold 456,000 copies, which under industry standards could work out to $2 million in royalties. (It’s unknown how much of the royalties go to Hannah-Jones versus the New York Times.)
In September, Hannah-Jones gave a talk as part of an Arlington, Virginia, library program&#8211;where her books were also sold&#8211;whose $40,000 price tag caused <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/1619-project-writer-demanded-40k-for-45-minute-speech-busting-librarys-budget" target="_blank" rel="noopener">budget problems</a> for a library group.

The MacArthur Foundation has also showered her with cash for years, giving her a <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/237093598/201813199349100836/IRS990PF" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$625,000</a> &#8220;genius grant&#8221; that was paid in the form of $125,000 per year from 2017 to 2021, according to nonprofit filings.
In 2021, the Knight Foundation donated <a href="https://communications.howard.edu/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$5 million</a> to Howard University to create a job for her there, the Knight Chair in Race and Journalism. Other donors shelled out <a href="https://thedig.howard.edu/all-stories/two-iconic-american-writers-join-howard-create-center-help-educate-next-generation-black-journalists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$20 million</a>&#8211;including $5 million from MacArthur&#8211;to Howard University to bring Hannah-Jones on as its &#8220;Knight Chair in Race and Journalism,&#8221; alongside Ta-Nehisi Coates. That tasked Hannah-Jones with creating the Center for Journalism &amp; Democracy at Howard University, a “first-of-its-kind academic center committed to strengthening historically-informed, pro-democracy journalism.” The Center held its <a href="https://cfjd.howard.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first event</a>, a &#8220;Democracy Summit,&#8221; on Nov. 15.
It’s unclear how Hannah-Jones manages to serve Howard while juggling so many other projects. Hannah-Jones still <a href="https://nikolehannahjones.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">refers</a> to herself as a New York Times Magazine writer, but her <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/by/nikole-hannah-jones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">byline page</a> at the Times has shown little activity in recent years. She did not return a request for comment.
On her personal <a href="https://nikolehannahjones.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">web page</a>, the banner quote blares: &#8220;I see my work as forcing us to confront our hypocrisy.&#8221;

1619 Project Creator Raked In $1M+ Last Year For College Speeches On Inequality

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/1619-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The 1619 Project</a> writer who has made an opulent living highlighting racial inequality in schools was paid $40,000 to give a speech at a high school just minutes away from the campus of her new employer, according to materials obtained by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Wire</a>.
Former New York Times writer Nikole Hannah-Jones was paid the sum to give a 45-minute talk Sept. 20 as part of a three-hour event at Washington-Liberty High School in Arlington, Virginia. That&#8217;s only eight miles from Howard University, where she became a tenured professor with the help of <a href="https://www.macfound.org/press/press-releases/two-iconic-american-writers-join-howard-university-to-create-a-center-to-educate-the-next-generation-of-black-journalists">$20 million</a> in donations from the MacArthur, Knight, and Ford foundations. Including travel time, that fee amounts to approximately $10,000 an hour.
The speech was also an opportunity for Hannah-Jones to sell her book, even as the event implied that it was &#8220;banned.&#8221;
While held at a public high school, the talk was a program of the Arlington Public Library, and the cost was so enormous that it spurred tension between the library and the Friends of Arlington Library, a nonprofit that raises money to fund <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/american-library-association-transgender-gender-queer-comics-schools" target="_blank" rel="noopener">library</a> activities including author events.
On August 9, Peter Petruski, a library division chief, wrote that the speakers fund was $7,500 over budget even though &#8220;The Friends offered $130,000 for Arlington Reads in FY23, which was less than the library said would be needed.&#8221;
On August 11, Diane Kresh, another <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-library-association-conference-features-a-drag-queen-and-ibram-kendi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">library</a> official, called the apparent &#8220;Arlington READS encumbrances troubling&#8230; The bottom line is there is a difference of $7,500 over and above the &#8216;approved&#8217; budget, money which is due now to meet Fall contractual obligations. I am certain all of you can appreciate we cannot jeopardize either the County or the Library&#8217;s financial standing if bills are not paid.&#8221;
Claire Christian, the president of the Friends group, wrote two days later: &#8220;Not necessarily thrilled about the overage.&#8221; On August 19, the second installment of $20,000 was wired to Hannah-Jones&#8217; agent.
Internal correspondence also shows officials&#8217; response to criticism from community members. A local news outlet &#8220;has posted an article about the upcoming event with Nikole Hannah-Jones and it&#8217;s getting a lot of very ignorant and negative comments,&#8221; Christian wrote. Criticism of Hannah-Jones is primarily because she is not a historian and leading <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/historians-shred-nyt-1619-project-claiming-slavery-defines-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">historians have rejected</a> her factual premise that the U.S. was founded to preserve slavery.
The contract with Hannah-Jones barred any recording of the event, with a charge of $100,000 if breached.
Charles Yao, who represents Hannah-Jones for the Lavin agency, did not return a request for comment from The Daily Wire.
Hannah-Jones was raised by a white mother and black father in Iowa. The speaking fee has raised eyebrows because Hannah-Jones&#8217; work has been based on the argument that blacks are oppressed, as demonstrated in part by wealth inequality, even as she has effortlessly been showered with wealth and accolades from elite institutions.
Michael Chamberlain, director of the government watchdog group Protect the Public&#8217;s Trust, told The Daily Wire the fee Hannah-Jones pocketed I unusually high for a local library to pay.
“The $40,000 they paid to one particular speaker, which put the program over budget, is an eye-popping amount for a local library to spend on such a controversial figure,&#8221; Chamberlain said. &#8220;Only Arlington residents can determine the wisdom of this decision, but transparency is a necessary first step for them to make that determination.”

A Michigan community college spent roughly $124,000 – the average cost of tuition for twenty students – to host speeches by left-wing activists, including Nikole Hannah-Jones, according to contracts obtained by The Daily Wire.
The speeches at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC), part of a &#8220;diversity lecture series,&#8221; were made throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. The school spent $25,000 for Hannah-Jones, the founder of the 1619 project, $40,000 for actor John Leguizamo, and $15,000 for a GOP-bashing appearance by Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown — plus more for others.
“People that are fighting against Critical Race Theory [CRT], they don’t even know what it is,” Brown said in her speech. “The bottom line is that it’s not even included in the curriculum.” Brown also claimed she was not mentioning it as a &#8220;partisan issue&#8221; but criticized Republicans for passing an anti-CRT law in Mississippi.
Her organization, Black Voters Matter Fund, has adopted unpopular stances aligned with the &#8220;social justice&#8221; movement accelerated during the riots in the summer of 2020. The George Soros-backed group gave roughly $50,000 to bail-fund groups in connection with this unrest, <a href="https://blackvotersmatterfund.org/impact-report/">according</a> to its annual report. The group also works on &#8220;resisting voter ID&#8221; — an election policy that polls have found most Americans do <a href="https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_us_062121/">not</a> support.
Hannah-Jones, perhaps the most well-known of the group, has spoken at dozens of campuses in the past year. During her appearance, she lectured on systemic racism, according to the college’s chief equity and inclusion officer, who said <a href="https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2022/01/pulitzer-prize-winner-nikole-hannah-jones-creator-1619-project-to-give-grcc-keynote-address.html">prior</a> that GRCC sought a speaker to discuss “intersectionality.”
Leguizamo, who spoke for Latino Heritage Month in September, has called Latinos who support former President Donald Trump “roaches” who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-leguizamo-latino-republicans-suffer-from-self-hate">suffer</a> from “self-hate.&#8221; And Talib Kweli, who rose to stardom in the late 1990s, has <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CKMBdpusV9x/?hl=en">said</a> “all Republicans are complicit” in the January 6 Capitol riot led by &#8220;white supremacist terrorists.&#8221; GRCC spent $18,800 for his April appearance.
Speakers for GRCC’s diversity series did not return requests for comment.
In a statement to The Daily Wire, GRCC defended paying the speakers a combined six figures, noting that a large portion of funds came from partnerships and grants for diversity programming.
“GRCC, and its office of diversity, equity, and inclusion, firmly believes events and training opportunities related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion are instrumental in preparing students to be sought-after professionals in a global workforce that is diverse, culturally competent, and in need of rigorous critical thinkers,” a spokesperson said.
But questions remain about the lack of intellectual diversity in the speakers that were chosen.
Matt Seely, a spokesperson for Michigan Conservative Coalition, says schools should provide an alternative perspective when hosting activities of certain political orientations.
Seely sees “universities basically weaponizing their ability to use taxpayer money, student tuition money, and grant money,” and says administrators “do everything they can to stop conservative and religious leaders from speaking on campuses.”
Kara Zupkus, a spokesperson for Young America&#8217;s Foundation, agrees with Seely. The conservative nonprofit brings speakers to college campuses through its own funding and often has trouble coordinating with left-wing administrators.
&#8220;Unfortunately, we often see the task of bringing conservative viewpoints to campus left to conservative student groups — without whom, these campuses simply would never have an alternative viewpoint to hear from,&#8221; Zupkus told The Daily Wire.
GRCC also compensated diversity series speakers at a markedly higher rate than it does for salaried employees, data obtained by The Daily Wire shows. The average salaried employee at the community college earns roughly $83,000 per year.

Former &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; anchor Chris Wallace got into a heated debate with &#8220;<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/1619-project-book-panned-by-historians-hits-amazons-bestseller-list/">The 1619 Project</a>&#8221; creator Nikole Hannah-Jones during her appearance on his new CNN+ interview show, &#8220;Who&#8217;s Talking To Chris Wallace?&#8221;
The two discussed a number of topics — even bonding briefly over their apparently similar feelings about ventriloquism.

But the conversation took a turn when Wallace brought up some of the claims Hannah-Jones made in &#8220;The 1619 Project&#8221; — particularly her assertion that the Greatest Generation had suppressed democracy for African Americans in the United States even as they had gone into battle during World War II to defend democratic ideals.
“‘Without the idealistic, strenuous, and patriotic efforts of black Americans, our democracy today would most likely look very different. It might not be a democracy at all. We like to call those who lived during World War II the Greatest Generation, but that allows us to ignore the fact that many of this generation fought for democracy abroad, while brutally suppressing democracy for millions of American citizens,’” Wallace quoted.
&#8220;Again, I am in no way minimizing our terrible racial legacy. But in some of these things, aren’t you overstating?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;If you have half of the country, where it’s in some states majorities, in many other states pluralities, 25% of the population, 40% of the population cannot vote, have their vote violently suppressed, where they’re a single one-party, one-race rule in a region where about 30% of the population is black. Would you consider that democracy?&#8221; Hannah-Jones asked, turning the question back on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/chris-wallace">Wallace</a>.
Wallace pushed back, then, noting that there was once also a time when women did not have the right to vote in the United States, and Hannah-Jones argued that was not &#8220;democracy&#8221; either.

&#8220;But here’s where I take some objection. You’re talking about if you say the country that we were fighting for democracy overseas, and we were not living in, walking the walk, talking the talk at home, I completely agree with you,&#8221; Wallace continued. &#8220;But you specifically say the Greatest Generation brutally suppressing, many of this generation brutally suppressing democracy for millions of Americans. To me, and I think Tom Brokaw when he originally wrote the book, ‘The Greatest Generation,’ was talking about 20-year-olds, 30-year-olds who came out of the farm fields of the Midwest, who came out of ethnic neighborhoods in Brooklyn and South Philly and stormed the beaches of Normandy and and, you know, fought to defeat the most, the worst regime, I would argue in, in world history. And to say that they were 20, 30-year-olds, the country was brutally suppressing blacks, but the Greatest Generation wasn’t.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, they were,&#8221; Hannah-Jones objected.
&#8220;No, they weren’t, you&#8217;re telling me that a farm, that a kid coming off a farm in Indiana or a kid who came from Brooklyn, is was suppressing black people,&#8221; Wallace replied.
&#8220;So Indiana had the largest population of the Klan in the United States. The Klan was reached first in Indiana,&#8221; Hannah-Jones argued.
&#8220;I understand, but that wasn’t the 20-year-old kid who risked his life,&#8221; Wallace tried again, but Hannah-Jones interrupted: &#8220;You don’t think 20-year olds were in the Klan?&#8221;
&#8220;I didn’t think many of them were, no,&#8221; Wallace said.
&#8220;I mean, I don’t know what evidence you have of that,&#8221; Hannah-Jones protested.
&#8220;Well, what evidence do you have that they were, since you wrote it,&#8221; Wallace shot back.
Hannah-Jones said that she never claimed 20-year-olds were in the Klan, but Wallace pushed back: &#8220;You said many of this generation was brutally suppressing democracy for millions of Americans.&#8221;
&#8220;And that’s factually inaccurate how?&#8221; Hannah-Jones pressed.
&#8220;I’m just asking,&#8221; Wallace continued. &#8220;That’s a broad, a broad brush, that you’re willing to paint, the 20- and 30-year-olds who defended democracy, I’m not talking about the leaders. I’m not talking about the laws. I’m not talking about the country. I’m talking about the young people who risked their lives. For instance, on the beaches of Normandy, they were brutally suppressing African Americans.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nikole-hannah-jones">Hannah-Jones</a> went on to argue that it wasn&#8217;t fair to draw a line and say that &#8220;the government was violently suppressing but everyone else, they weren’t. They were glorious.&#8221;
She pointed to the fact that, during World War II, the military was still segregated, adding, &#8220;This trying to parse off who gets guilt or who does not for our collective history — we have to be more honest about piercing that mythology not to destroy our country, but to, if we can honestly face who we are, then we can actually become the country that we want to be. But we can’t do that by suppressing the truth and to ask a black person whose view of the Greatest Generation was black people are getting lynched.&#8221;

Nikole Hannah-Jones, a New York Times reporter and creator of the 1619 Project, riled up social media on Monday when she tweeted that &#8220;tipping is a legacy of slavery.&#8221;
&#8220;Tipping is a legacy of slavery and if it&#8217;s not optional then it shouldn&#8217;t be a tip but simply included in the bill,&#8221; Hannah-Jones wrote. &#8220;Have you ever stopped to think why we tip, like why tipping is a practice in the U.S. and almost nowhere else?&#8221;
Hannah-Jones, 45, created the 1619 Project which intends to &#8220;reframe&#8221; American history by &#8220;placing the consequences of slavery at the center of the national narrative,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html">wrote</a> in the Times.
Her tweet drew mockery from historian Phil Magness, a longtime gadfly to Hannah-Jones.

That drew a response from Hannah-Jones. &#8220;I know your obsession with my Twitter account is unrelenting because it’s the only time anyone pays attention to your tweets, but come on,&#8221; she tweeted.
&#8220;You can&#8217;t discredit me, you&#8217;re not converting anyone or revealing anything by going behind my block to stalk my Twitter for tweets you can post to invite scorn,&#8221; Hannah-Jones added. &#8220;This is about you hoping to bring attention you otherwise don&#8217;t get and fill some bitter hole you have. Sad. So sad.&#8221;
Hannah-Jones also said she tips, despite her view that it&#8217;s racist.
Hannah-Jones was quick to add that she doesn&#8217;t stiff the help despite her dubious claims about the practice&#8217;s origin.
&#8220;Are y’all reading what I am writing or nah?&#8221; she wrote after others on social media piled on. &#8220;I said I tip. I tip well. I tip almost always. But I object to the idea that I am obligated to tip no matter how I am treated. Nope. And you can’t get more offended at me than employers that pay less-than-minimum wage.&#8221;
And Hannah-Jones said she sometimes is &#8220;disrespected at restaurants.&#8221; &#8220;I’ve said what I have to say about this,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;I have been utterly disrespected at restaurants. Ignored. Rudeness. Nope.&#8221;
Hannah-Jones penned a New York Times magazine <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html">article</a> titled &#8220;The 1619 Project.&#8221;
&#8220;Published in August 2019, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in the English colony of Virginia, the work has been criticized by some academics for its claims &#8211; and angered many others who saw it as unpatriotic,&#8221; the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10640883/1619-Projects-Nikole-Hannah-Jones-claims-tipping-tied-slavery-Twitter-row-historian.html">wrote</a>.

Yup, Now Even Tipping Is Racist

Nikole Hannah-Jones, creator of historically inaccurate “1619 Project” at The New York Times, will keynote the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges’ (AAVMC) 2022 conference.
Yes, you read that correctly, this is a conference for veterinary medical colleges – as in animal medicine.
But, as with most colleges and universities these days, the conference has less to do with science and more to do with being woke. A <a href="https://annualmeeting.aavmc.org/">description</a> for the conference spells it out (emphasis added):
<blockquote>The AAVMC’s annual conference is considered one of the leading professional development events in international academic veterinary medicine. Hundreds of educators and other leaders from the veterinary medical profession gather every year for a three day-symposium that features respected thought-leaders from around the world, explores issues and opportunities, shares best practices, and focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion. The conference also features the AAVMC’s annual Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.</blockquote>
The conference runs from March 3 to March 5, with Hannah-Jones speaking March 5. There are also keynote speakers for March 3 and 4, neither of whom have anything to do with veterinary medicine. Dr Anthony P. Carnevale will speak on Thursday and “currently serves as research Professor and Director of the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, a position he has held since CEW was created in 2008,” the website for the conference says. Dr. Randall Bass, who will speak on Friday, and “is Vice President for Strategic Education Initiatives and Professor of English at Georgetown University, where he leads the Designing the Future(s) initiative and the Red House incubator for curricular transformation,” according to the website.
The schedule for the conference shows the focus is on diversity, with one of the first sessions titled “Diversity Community Meeting, several sessions about admissions and outreach, and a session Thursday morning titled “Use of a Hackathon to Design a Longitudinal Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Thread in a Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency Program.”
Other sessions include “Health and Wellbeing Among LGBTQ+ Veterinary Professionals and Students: The Impact of Institutional Climate,” “One Small Step Toward Increasing Diversity in Veterinary Medicine – Diversity and Inclusion Pledges,” “Strategies for Integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Skills into Pre-Clinical Professional Skills Coursework,” and “Our College Community’s Response to Challenges Following the Death of George Floyd.”
In addition to the focus on wokeness, attendees at the conference will also have to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19, even as states across the country have stopped requiring such proof.
The conference includes a Leadership Academy that takes place between February 28 and March 1 and an Advocacy Day on March 2. Advocacy Day appears to actually focus on what one would expect from a veterinary conference, according to the website:

This includes informing and influencing policymakers and their staff on important issues that affect veterinary medicine’s impact on public health, including biomedical research, agriculture, and animal welfare, as well as both direct and indirect support for colleges of veterinary medicine.</blockquote>
