<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nick-sandmann">Nick Sandmann</a>, the former Covington Catholic High School student who gained national attention after the mainstream media lied about an interaction that he had with a Native American man in 2019, responded to Twitter CEO Elon Musk releasing internal company documents about how the social media platform was previously engaged in censorship by asking him to look into the threats that were allowed against him on the platform.
Sandmann was the focal point of a media firestorm in January 2019 when he stood in front of Native American activist Nathan Phillips and smiled as he wore a &#8220;Make America Great Again&#8221; hat. Sandmann faced repeated smears and vile attacks in the media over the incident and several news organizations were forced to settle lawsuits with him as a result.
Sandmann highlighted something he posted a couple of years ago that showed a verified accounts on the platform making threats against him and his classmates.
&#8220;As I’m watching this all play out, I’m wondering if @elonmusk has any hidden twitter files relating to what went on here,&#8221; Sandmann said. &#8220;Let’s be clear: under the watch of @vijaya they allowed these illegal threats when I was 16 years old.&#8221;

Musk released the information Friday evening through journalist Matt Taibbi. The documents showed that the platform was working in conjunction with then-Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden’s team, removing tweets that team Biden wanted deleted.
Musk said that he decided to release the information because it was “necessary to restore public trust” in the platform after it censored the New York Post’s bombshell report about Hunter Biden’s laptop just weeks before the 2020 presidential election.
Musk told the paparazzi that he would no longer sign autographs after he landed in at Dulles International Airport Saturday night, TMZ <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/12/04/elon-musk-tells-groveling-paparazzi-no-more-autographs/?adid=social-twa">reported</a>.
“I want to be clear, I’m not doing any more signings ever again,” Musk said as he was surrounded by security guards.
The news comes after Musk said during a chat on Twitter Spaces Saturday afternoon that the risk to his security has increased in recent months.
Musk told listeners that he would “definitely” not “be doing any open-air car parades, let me put it that way,” Musk <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/12/04/elon-musk-claims-risk-of-his-assassination-is-quite-significant/">said</a>. “Frankly the risk of something bad happening to me, or even literally being shot, is quite significant.”
“It’s not that hard to kill somebody if you wanted to, so hopefully they don’t, and fate smiles upon the situation with me and it does not happen,” he added. “There’s definitely some risk there.”

The legal team representing former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann, now-20, will file an appeal after they had libel lawsuits against five news organizations thrown out in court this week.
The lawsuits centered around vicious smears that Sandmann faced in the media back in 2019 when a video clip showing him simply standing in front of a Native American man while smiling went viral online.
U.S. District Judge William O. Bertelsman on Tuesday <a href="https://www.wdrb.com/news/judge-tosses-northern-kentucky-students-multimillion-dollar-lawsuits-over-dc-encounter/article_3e79ccdc-0dca-11ed-8131-1b7c593580b5.html">dismissed</a> Sandmann&#8217;s lawsuits against The New York Times, CBS News, ABC News, Gannett, and Rolling Stone magazine.
Sandmann attorney Todd McMurtry told the media that they will file an appeal against the ruling.
While five lawsuits were thrown out, Sandmann has received settlements from The Washington Post, CNN, and NBC News for undisclosed amounts.
&#8220;Obviously, the ruling yesterday was a disappointment for my family and I. I’m appealing the decision in the sixth circuit,&#8221; Sandmann <a href="https://twitter.com/N1ckSandmann/status/1552459124029509632?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">said</a> in a statement responding to the ruling this week. &#8220;Judge Bertelsmann revisited the statements that I &#8216;blocked Nathan Phillips&#8217; and &#8216;would not allow him to retreat.’ His job was to rule on the legal issue of what those statements were.&#8221;
&#8220;If they were factual claims, I could proceed and a jury would then decide if they were defamatory. But if they were opinions, it is protected speech that I cannot sue for,&#8221; Sandmann continued. &#8220;The judge ruled that the media companies published opinion. The problem is: it isn’t.&#8221;
Sandmann illustrated his point by noting that stating &#8220;X did Y&#8221; is different than stating &#8220;I believe X is Y.&#8221;
&#8220;I should be able to proceed due to the factual claim the defending media companies made which was used in conjunction with negative connotations of racism and harassment that defamed me,&#8221; Sandmann continued. &#8220;I wrote an op-ed recently in which I mentioned defamation cases being a uphill battle. This is why. There is complete indisputable video evidence along with publications that [published] falsehoods.&#8221;
&#8220;Nevertheless, I have learned how to be patient and keep the will to move forward. I am going to continue on that path,&#8221; he concluded.

Nicholas Sandmann, a former Covington Catholic student smeared after a 2019 incident with a Native American activist, has reached a third settlement in a series of lawsuits against media companies.
Sandmann announced over Twitter Friday that he had reached a settlement with NBC News. Sandmann’s legal team has already reached settlements with CNN and The Washington Post.
“At this time I would like to release that NBC and I have reached a settlement. The terms are confidential,” Sandmann said.

NBC News did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire&#8217;s request for comment.
Sandmann’s face went viral after he and a group of his peers at Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky were filmed in a “standoff” with Nathan Phillips, a Native American activist, in January 2019 in Washington, D.C. Phillips had approached the group of teens while beating a drum and stopped in front of Sandmann.
Immediately following clips of the two circulating around social media, Sandmann was accused of blocking and harassing the older Native American man. Follow-up investigations <a href="https://www.npr.org/2019/02/15/695036694/covington-catholic-teens-cleared-of-wrongdoing-by-detective-agency">debunked</a> the initial outcry that had rocketed around the media.
After the incident, Sandmann elected to go after the media outlets and personalities who mischaracterized the interaction between himself and Phillips. Sandmann first settled with CNN in January 2020. As <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nick-sandmanns-lawyers-respond-to-cnn-settling-in-275-million-lawsuit-cnn-confirms-settlement">The Daily Wire</a> reported:

Sandmann, experienced in weathering media smears, has recently expressed support for Kyle Rittenhouse, a teen who was recently acquitted after killing two men and wounding a third in self-defense during a riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year. Sandmann encouraged Rittenhouse to file similar defamation suits against the media.
“I personally am still involved in six media lawsuits as January approaches marking three years since the confrontation took place at the March for Life,” Sandmann <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicholas-sandmann-pens-op-ed-about-kyle-rittenhouse-you-dont-have-to-face-it-alone">wrote</a> last month in an op-ed for the Daily Mail. “So, if Kyle is prepared to take on another burden in his early life, with the acceptance that it might result in nothing, I answer, give it a shot and hold the media accountable.”

Nicholas Sandmann, who has allegedly received hundreds of millions of dollars in defamation lawsuits against media outlets, gave insight into what Kyle Rittenhouse, acquitted of multiple felonies on Friday, is experiencing.
Sandmann appeared on Fox News on Friday evening in an interview with host Sean Hannity. Sandmann compared what he went through in January 2019 during a confrontation with activists outside the Lincoln Memorial with what Rittenhouse has experienced from biased media outlets and figures.
Sandmann began with explaining what negative media attention at a national level can do to a teen.
“Well, it’s terrible, Sean, and I’ll tell you why. As a 17-year-old, in Kyle’s case, and mine 16, your mind is still developing, and so, to deal with an overload of stress where you have this feeling that half of the country, hundreds of millions of people hate you for something that you’re innocent of, but how you are painted, it can do a lot to you mentally,” Sandmann said. “It takes a very strong will to be able to resist that and keep a level head. I know that Kyle is probably dealing with that right now.”
Sandmann later said that Rittenhouse should sue media outlets for defamation for how he was portrayed before and during his trial, prior to when he was acquitted of all felony charges against him on Friday. Sandmann stopped short of saying Rittenhouse should sue President Joe Biden, however, who suggested over Twitter last year in an ad that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist. Sandmann cited his own experience attempting to litigate over similar accusations. Sandmann said:

In January, it’ll be three years since everything happened at the March for Life, and I’m still looking at another two years until the cases that go to trial are resolved. So, it’s really a personal call for him. I know he has a lot on his plate on whether he wants to entrench himself in this. But on the topic of Joe Biden, I’ve heard a lot of debate about it, but I think plain and simple that, unfortunately, calling someone a racist or a white supremacist is an opinion protected by the First Amendment. Personally, I know it because many of the claims that we labelled as defamatory were not let in by the judge in federal court, and so I would like to see him go after Joe Biden, I would like to see where that goes, but I don’t think Kyle is in the case where he can be making lawsuits just to see what happens. He doesn’t have the luxury of suing everyone just to see if any of them land.</blockquote>

Sandmann’s interview on Hannity follows a November 16 column he wrote commiserating with Rittenhouse and slamming media outlets for misreporting and misrepresenting Rittenhouse to readers.
“This is the problem with liberal media outlets in the United States. They want to get the story first, get the most views, make the most money, and advance the agenda from liberal patrons,” Sandmann wrote. “These outlets cover themselves when they are wrong with small footnotes at the ends of long articles, clarifying that new information has come out and that they have updated their coverage.”

“The parallels between me and Kyle Rittenhouse are impossible not to draw,” wrote Nicholas Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student who became embroiled in a national story based on the false claim that he was the aggressor in a widely-published exchange with a Native American activist, Nathan Phillips.
“Kyle was 17-years-old when he became a household name after that terrible tragedy in Kenosha,” Sandmann explained in an op-ed for <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10208119/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-NICHOLAS-SANDMANN-media-defamation.html">Daily Mail</a>. “I was 16-years-old when I was catapulted into the national conversation by video of an encounter with a Native American activist on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.”
Sandmann noted that Rittenhouse &#8220;was almost immediately labelled a &#8216;white supremacist&#8217; and a &#8216;domestic terrorist,’” and “To many, my red MAGA hat clearly meant that I was a racist.”
“Kyle wasn&#8217;t given his day in court by his critics,” Sandmann wrote. “And neither was I.”
Sandmann argued, “The attacks on Kyle came from the national news media, just as they came for me,” and “They came quickly, without hesitation, because Kyle was an easy target that they could paint in the way they wanted to.”
“This is the problem with liberal media outlets in the United States. They want to get the story first, get the most views, make the most money, and advance the agenda from liberal patrons,” Sandmann stated. “These outlets cover themselves when they are wrong with small footnotes at the ends of long articles, clarifying that new information has come out and that they have updated their coverage.”
After arguing that “News shouldn&#8217;t be a scoreboard that constantly changes,” Sandmann said that “every single label on Kyle as a &#8216;terrorist,&#8217; &#8216;white supremacist,&#8217; and &#8216;school shooter&#8217; in the streets of Kenosha, will only ever be withdrawn after the damage has been done.”
Sandmann then spoke out against specific figures.
“In our hyperpolarized society, the first impression of Kyle has been set in stone, probably for the rest of his life,” Sandmann wrote. “So to President Joe Biden, Lebron James, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, and every other commentator: please be quiet.”
Sandmann discussed LeBron’s statements on Rittenhouse’s emotional testimony, before arguing that “It is oblivious to the trauma associated with this event and how it severely affects Kyle.”
“Taking a life, for any reason, sticks with someone forever and yet the liberal elites would rather turn it into a joke for likes,” Sandmann said. “Not only does Kyle have to deal with that, but it is compounded with the overwhelming stress and trauma of the character assassination taking place against him.”
Sandmann then continued to discuss the subject of defamation cases, describing them as “some of the hardest cases to win.”
“I personally am still involved in six media lawsuits as January approaches marking three years since the confrontation took place at the March for Life,” Sandmann stated. “So, if Kyle is prepared to take on another burden in his early life, with the acceptance that it might result in nothing, I answer, give it a shot and hold the media accountable.”
“One of the saddening parts of this media onslaught is that it has taken young people like Kyle and myself to expose how corrupt the media really is,” Sandmann concluded. “From my own experience, I know that this cannot be easy for Kyle. While I have waited to comment on the facts of Kyle&#8217;s case until the trial ends. I cannot hold back on the media&#8217;s public execution of him before the trial has concluded.”
“At this time I would like to use my platform to let Kyle know that I am here for you and if you ever would like to reach out to me, I am about the only person our age to have an idea of how the media is treating you,” Sandmann wrote. “The way the media has treated you is terrible, and you don&#8217;t have to face it alone.”

CNN settled for an undisclosed amount with Sandmann in January 2020 after Sandmann had sued the network in March 2019. The Daily Wire <a href="applewebdata://62514D90-32EA-4A12-9A80-C8340AE78C7C/v">reported</a>:

After the lawsuit was filed, Fox News’ Sandra Smith <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-nick-sandmanns-lawyer-reveals-massive-275-ryan-saavedra">asked</a> one of Sandmann’s attorneys, Todd McMurtry, “What specifically does this lawsuit highlight about what we are seeing in that video and what happened in the minutes and hours that followed?”
“Well, what CNN’s tagline is facts first. And what we believe their reporting was in this circumstance was lies first; cover up second, and facts not yet determined by that organization,” McMurtry answered. “So the difference between this lawsuit and the other lawsuit that we have filed is that CNN is a very significant media organization with a much broader reach than say The Washington Post. It has a Twitter followers of 41 million people. It published four videos. Nine online articles that were tweeted out. So that’s millions and millions and millions of repetitions of the lies and falsehoods that CNN spread.”
Fox 19 <a href="https://www.fox19.com/2020/01/07/cnn-settles-lawsuit-with-nick-sandmann/">reported</a> in January 2020, “The amount of the settlement was not made public during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Covington.”
In July 2020, Sandmann <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/covington-catholic-hs-student-nick-sandmann-settles-250-million-lawsuit-with-the-washington-post">announced</a> that his legal team had settled its $250 million defamation lawsuit with The Washington Post. He wrote, “Thanks to my family &amp; millions of you who have stood your ground by supporting me. I still have more to do.”
In August 2020, as Sandmann spoke at the Republican National Convention, CNN analyst Joe Lockhart, who had served as former President Bill Clinton’s press secretary, took a shot at him, calling Sandmann a “snot nose entitled kid.” Lockhart tweeted, “I&#8217;m watching tonight because it&#8217;s important. But i don&#8217;t have to watch this snot nose entitled kid from Kentucky.”

At the convention, Sandmann <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cnn-analyst-mocks-sandmann-speaking-at-rnc-snot-nose-entitled-kid/">recalled</a> the attacks on him after the incident in Washington, D.C.:

CNN’s Stelter Mocks DeSantis For Saying That Media Lies. Nick Sandmann Uses One Word To Crush Him.

In January 2019, Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann became an overnight infamous household name after a video of his interaction with Native American activist Nathan Phillips went viral.
“On Saturday, a video went viral, seemingly showing a group of Catholic high school students confronting and harassing a Native American protester who appeared to be peacefully playing a drum, but by Saturday night it was clear the confrontation wasn’t the end of the story,” the Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-what-you-need-know-about-confrontation-emily-zanotti">reported</a> at the time. 
“The three-minute video was posted online by a group of Native American protesters who claimed they were harassed and intimidated by a group of Covington Catholic High School students waiting for their bus near the Lincoln Memorial. The video is heavily clipped at the beginning and end, and shows only an apparent ‘confrontation’ between a protester named Nathan Phillips and a Make America Great Again-hat wearing teen.”
Despite it becoming clear that the Covington High School students were actually the victims of racial slurs, with a group of Black Hebrew Israelites calling the students “fa***ts,” with Phillips apparently lying about the so-called “confrontation,” the legacy media rallied to portray the students — and Nick Sandmann in particular — as guilty of a hate crime.
On CNN’s website, Nick Sandmann is mentioned in 30 articles, including the presumptive headline “<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/21/opinions/march-for-life-maga-hat-teens-native-american-protest-morson/index.html">March For Life teen’s confrontation with Native American reveals an ugly divide</a>.” 
The Washington Post mentioned Nick Sandmann <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/newssearch/?query=nick%20sandmann&amp;btn-search=&amp;sort=Relevance&amp;datefilter=All%20Since%202005">52 times</a>, and the New York Times mentioned him <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/search?query=nick+sandmann">11 times</a> since early 2019. Covington Catholic High School is referenced <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/newssearch/?query=covington%20catholic%20high%20school&amp;btn-search=&amp;sort=Relevance&amp;datefilter=All%20Since%202005">92 times</a> by the Washington Post, and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/search?dropmab=true&amp;query=Covington%20Catholic%20High%20School&amp;sort=best&amp;suggestTrigger=covington%20">169 times</a> by the New York Times.
At the time, prominent figures on the Left also came out in vocal condemnation of Nick Sandmann, such as an SNL comedian <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/snl-writer-offers-blowjobs-anyone-who-will-punch-paul-bois">saying</a> “I will blow whoever manages to punch that maga kid in the face,” Alyssa Milano <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alyssa-milano-weighs-covington-catholic-story-james-barrett">concluding</a> that “The red MAGA hat is the new white hood,” and Reza Aslan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/haworth-i-have-dream-or-punchable-face-you-cant-ian-haworth">saying</a> that Sandmann had a “punchable face.”
Conversely, in the same city in March 2021, a 66-year-old Uber Eats driver was killed after being thrown from his vehicle after two teenage girls — aged 13 and 15 — reportedly used a stun gun against him and stole his car. The incident was also caught on video, showing Anwar’s crumpled body on the sidewalk, as the two teenage girls appeared to show more concern for their phones than the man left dead on the street.
Nick Sandmann was not guilty of any crime, while these two teenage girls — whose names have not been released — appear to have murdered an innocent man after assaulting him and stealing his car. Surely, in terms of objective reporting, Mohammad Anwar’s murder deserves far more scrutiny and coverage?
However, a search for “Mohammad Anwar” on CNN yields one result, relating to an article that was shared on<a href="https://twitter.com/ighaworth/status/1375950442845310981"> Twitter</a> as “Police said the girls, 13 and 15, assaulted an Uber Eats driver with a Taser while carjacking him, which led to an accident in which he was fatally injured.” Similarly, the Washington Post provides <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/newssearch/?query=mohammad%20anwar&amp;btn-search=&amp;sort=Relevance&amp;datefilter=All%20Since%202005">one article</a> dedicated to the incident, reporting “Girls, 13 and 15, charged with murder after alleged carjacking in D.C.” The New York Times has made<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/search?query=mohammad+anwar"> no mention</a> of Anwar, according to their website.
Thanks to the media, the death of Mohammad Anwar will remain hidden from the majority of the country. There won’t be any marches for him, no furious protests, and no concerned phone calls from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris.
The same celebrities who jostled to condemn Nick Sandmann for the crime of standing still are now as silent as the disinterested media who — without a racially convenient perpetrator — have immediately moved on.
All that matters to the media is whether they can use the skin color of victims and/or alleged perpetrators to promote the narrative of systemic and unrepentant white supremacy.
For them, Mohammad Anwar’s alleged killers don’t fit the bill, and so he has been immediately forgotten.

The lawsuits center around false media reports regarding an interaction that Sandmann had with Omaha tribe elder Nathan Phillips that falsely portrayed Sandmann as an aggressor.
Sandmann has already <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/covington-catholic-hs-student-nick-sandmann-settles-250-million-lawsuit-with-the-washington-post">settled</a> a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The Washington and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-covington-catholic-student-nick-sandmann-gets-settlement-from-cnn-after-275-million-lawsuit">settled</a> a $275 million defamation lawsuit against CNN.
Sandmann spoke out against cancel culture while speaking at the Republican National Convention in August.
“I found myself face-to-face with Nathan Phillips and other professional protesters looking to turn me into the latest poster child showing why Trump is bad,” Sandmann <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nick-sandmann-returns-to-spot-of-viral-encounter-during-rnc-convention-this-is-worth-fighting-for">said</a>. “While the media portrayed me as the aggressor with a ‘relentless smirk’ on my face, in reality the video confirms I was standing with my hands behind my back and an awkward smile on my face that hid two thoughts. One, don’t do anything that might further agitate the man banging a drum in my face and two, trying to follow a family friend’s advice never to do anything to embarrass your family, your school, or your community.”
“Before I knew what was happening, it was over,” he continued. “One of Mr. Phillips fellow agitators yelled out ‘We got him!’, ‘It’s all right here on video’ and ‘We won Grandpa.’ What I thought was a strange encounter quickly developed into a major news story complete with video footage.”
“My life changed forever in that one moment,” Sandmann continued. “The full war machine of the mainstream media revved up into attack mode. They did so without ever researching the full video of the incident; without ever investigating Mr. Philips’ motives; or without ever asking me for my side of the story. And do you know why? Because the truth wasn’t important. Advancing their anti-Christian, anti-Conservative, anti-Donald Trump narrative was all that mattered. And if advancing their narrative ruined the reputation and future of a teenager from Covington, Kentucky…so be it. That will teach him not to wear a MAGA hat!”
“I learned that what was happening to me had a name. It was called being cancelled. As in annulled. As in revoked. As in made void,” he continued. “Cancelled is what’s happening to people around this country who refuse to be silenced by the far left. Many are being fired, humiliated or even threatened. Often, the media is a willing participant.”
“But I wouldn’t be cancelled. I fought back hard to expose the media for what they did to me and won a personal victory. While much more must be done, I look forward to the day that the media returns to providing balanced, responsible and accountable news coverage,” Sandmann continued. “In November, I believe this country must unite around a President who calls the media out and refuses to allow them to create a narrative instead of reporting the facts.”

The fascist Left regularly typifies the very qualities it professes to abhor. The only thing more pronounced than its totalitarianism is its stunning lack of self-awareness.
It&#8217;s ironic that leftists think of themselves as liberals, as the term &#8220;liberal&#8221; is historically and etymologically connected to the concept of liberty. Not only are they merely selective champions of liberty but the logical extension of their agenda is an eradication of liberty, from socialism to Supreme Court legislation, from radical redistributions of income to oppressive pseudo-environmental regulations.
What do I mean by &#8220;selective champions of liberty&#8221;? Simply that they believe conservative ideas are so odious they must be excluded from the classroom; social media; university student organizations; and, in too many cases, restaurants, yard signs and baseball caps.
Try teaching intelligent design in many public schools. In the name of science, they&#8217;ll exclude ID&#8217;s scientific findings. They believe that conservatives and their ideas are inherently racist and sexist and, in many cases, lead to violence, which means conservatives are not entitled to First Amendment protection or free expression on social media. It&#8217;s scary how these leftists have blinded themselves to their own hypocrisy and fascism in trampling the same rights they purport to celebrate.
Invisible authoritarians running social media platforms cite arbitrary rules of conduct that conveniently censor conservative opinion to allegedly ensure decency and decorum. Yet the opinions they muzzle are only dangerous and indecent if you define danger as the free expression of opposing views. While prohibiting conservative views that don&#8217;t remotely advocate violence, they permit overt leftist calls for violence. The chilling process by which this &#8220;private&#8221; and sometimes-government-supported censorship occurs is that leftists subjectively determine conservative speech is offensive or hateful and must be banned.
The First Amendment free-speech guarantees were designed precisely to protect controversial political speech, as uncontroversial expression obviously needs no protection. In the not-too-distant past, liberals understood that protecting the expression of all ideas was the essence of liberty. Yesterday&#8217;s American Civil Liberties Union defended the rights of neo-Nazis to march through Skokie, Illinois, in 1978.
Examples of the tyrannical leftist mindset abound. Nicholas Sandmann&#8217;s admission to Transylvania University in Kentucky incensed certain leftists. They clearly loathe Sandmann, who was brutally slandered by CNN and other leftists when activists accosted him for simply wearing a MAGA hat and standing for the pro-life cause.
&#8220;Does anyone else think it&#8217;s a bit of a stain on Transylvania University for accepting Nick Sandmann? I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s a &#8216;both sides&#8217; defense, but it&#8217;s pretty counter to their mission and another instance of there not being equal sides to an issue,&#8221; wrote ACLU staffer Samuel Crankshaw on Facebook. &#8220;This kid clearly is a provocateur in training with no intention of learning. He exists only to troll, intimidate and play victim.&#8221;
&#8220;Counter to their mission&#8221;? What mission would that be: the promulgation of leftist propaganda and the suppression of opposing ideas? Note Crankshaw&#8217;s revealing admission that he doesn&#8217;t believe there are even two sides to the Sandmann controversy. This is more remarkable considering that the media&#8217;s original reporting of this event was debunked at the time and then more resoundingly discredited when Sandmann settled a major defamation suit against CNN and others.
Despite Sandmann&#8217;s vindication, this ranting ACLU ideologue can&#8217;t even acknowledge that Sandmann had a legitimate position. And without knowing Sandmann personally, Crankshaw presumes he has no intention of learning — leftist open-mindedness on parade.
Crankshaw isn&#8217;t alone. Transylvania University professor Avery Tompkins, who paradoxically identifies as a &#8220;diversity scholar,&#8221; went further. &#8220;If (Sandmann) were to cause problems by being disruptive, trolling, or engaging in unethical behavior of any kind, I would immediately document it &#8230; and he would just be putting himself in a position for me to file a conduct report,&#8221; commented Tompkins on Crankshaw&#8217;s Facebook page.
This unmistakably reads like a threat against Sandmann should he express his views. If that weren&#8217;t sickening enough, Tompkins&#8217; claims are preposterous. Sandmann wasn&#8217;t disruptive at the pro-life march. He trolled no one; a Native American man approached and taunted him, obnoxiously banging a drum in his face. Nor did Sandmann behave unethically, unless, perhaps, you believe that gathering in support of innocent unborn babies is unethical.
Tompkins&#8217; thinking is disturbing (though I would still defend his freedom to express this stupidity), as is his attempted intimidation of a student entering his university. It&#8217;s rich that on the university website, Tompkins is quoted as saying: &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to be the authoritative person in the classroom. &#8230; The classes are there for the students. It&#8217;s not my soapbox.&#8221; Hmm. Could have fooled this casual observer.
Tompkins&#8217; later apology in which he paid lip service to &#8220;diversity&#8221; is laughable. He is an adult with fully formed ideas, and a poster child for illustrating that the Left’s idea of &#8220;diversity&#8221; means anything but ideological diversity.
Another example involved leftist University of Rhode Island professor Erik Loomis, who defended an anarchist&#8217;s murder of Trump supporter Aaron Danielson in Portland. &#8220;He killed a fascist,&#8221; Loomis said. &#8220;I see nothing wrong with it, at least from a moral perspective.&#8221; This abomination speaks for itself.
Before you call this an extreme example, note that this kind of thinking drives the widespread leftist violence throughout American cities that was enabled by Democratic governors and mayors.
I wouldn&#8217;t be so alarmed about any of this if the Left weren&#8217;t promising to ratchet up its violence if President Donald Trump is reelected. If you doubt this, you&#8217;re not paying attention, and as young people say, &#8220;That&#8217;s on you.&#8221; Prayers and more prayers for this great nation.

Former Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann fired back Thursday at an ACLU associate and a college professor who warned that he was &#8220;dangerous&#8221; and a &#8220;provocateur&#8221; and should be watched closely when he begins his freshman year at Kentucky&#8217;s Transylvania University, telling the pair that he is a &#8220;pro-life conservative Republican college student who won’t let cancel culture silence me&#8221; in a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/covington-catholic-cancel-culture-nick-sandman">Fox News op-ed</a>.
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire reported that Sandmann was the target of a two-pronged attack that began when a graduate of Transylvania University, who became an associate attorney for the ACLU, warned that Sandmann&#8217;s presence at the school was a &#8220;bit of a stain&#8221; on its reputation and called Sandmann &#8220;a provocateur in training with no intention of learning&#8221; who &#8220;exists only to troll, intimidate and play victim.&#8221;
A Transylvania University professor, Dr. Avery Tompkins, initially defended Sandmann&#8217;s presence, telling the writer that “While I certainly don’t support or agree with his views, and find his public behavior and rhetoric atrocious and uninformed, we can’t not admit academically qualified students due to their political and personal views.&#8221;
Then, though, she pledged to keep the ACLU and others appraised of Sandmann&#8217;s activities.
&#8220;If he ends up in my intro class, fine. He might learn something that is actually based on research and evidence. I’m well aware of the anti-intellectual views tied to the organizations he’s part of,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If he were to cause problems by being disruptive, trolling, or engaging in unethical behavior of any kind, I would immediately document it (just like I would for any student doing the same thing) and he would just be putting himself in a position for me to file a conduct report.&#8221;
She then suggested that &#8220;Transy&#8221; wouldn&#8217;t be an appropriate home for Sandmann because he might not fit in with the school&#8217;s &#8220;mission&#8221; &#8212; a mission which, it seems, is not academic excellence.
Sandmann fired back Thursday, torching the ACLU associate for attempting to derail his college experience simply because he is &#8220;outraged that my conservative values don’t align with his left-wing ideology.&#8221;
&#8220;So should only liberals and those on the far-left be able to get a college education?&#8221; Sandmann asks in his op-ed. &#8220;Should there be an ideological purity test required that bars conservatives and Republicans? That’s a pretty frightening idea and sounds like something you would expect in a totalitarian state, not a democracy where we are all guaranteed free speech by the First Amendment to the Constitution.&#8221;
&#8220;Colleges have a reputation of being toxic places for conservative, pro-life ideas like the ones I hold. But an alumni assuming I’ll act in a certain way before even meeting me? Well, that’s a new low,&#8221; he continues. &#8220;To those who are inclined to write my future for me, I say let me define myself. I will not be canceled.&#8221;
Sandmann is currently working for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell&#8217;s re-election campaign. He is starting college this fall.

After a graduate of Kentucky’s Transylvania University who currently <a href="https://www.aclu-ky.org/en/biographies/samuel-crankshaw">works with the ACLU</a> ripped the idea of the university accepting Nick Sandman, writing that Sandmann “clearly is a provocateur in training” and “dangerous,” an Assistant Professor and Diversity Scholar at the university responded that if Sandmann “were to cause problems,” she would “file a conduct report.”
Transylvania University is a private university in Lexington, Kentucky, and the first university in Kentucky, founded in 1780.
The exchange started with Samuel Crankshaw writing on Facebook:

Ironically, this silenced victim is running with Don Jr., spoke at the GOP convention, has a bill in his honor at the General Assembly, has attended private schools, has a national law firm representing him, etc. So silenced. He’s no different from the likes of Milo Yiannopoulos, but he is more dangerous.
Having experienced the incredibly high standards Transy requires for admission and then holds its students to, this seems like a slap in the face. I hope some time in a real classroom changes him, but his twitter and public persona suggest otherwise …</blockquote>
Dr. Avery Tompkins replied, “While I certainly don’t support or agree with his views, and find his public behavior and rhetoric atrocious and uninformed, we can’t not admit academically qualified students due to their political and personal views.”
Then she got snarky and patronizing: “If he ends up in my intro class, fine. He might learn something that is actually based on research and evidence. I’m well aware of the anti-intellectual views tied to the organizations he’s part of, so I assume he’d view me as part of some liberal brainwashing machine, but signing up for Transy and my class means he is required to learn that information, even if he disagrees.”
“If he were to cause problems by being disruptive, trolling, or engaging in unethical behavior of any kind, I would immediately document it (just like I would for any student doing the same thing) and he would just be putting himself in a position for me to file a conduct report,” she threatened. “So. As far as I know, there have been no issues so far (though I certainly could be missing info).&#8221;
Then she expressed sympathy with Crankshaw’s attack on Sandmann: “That said, I totally get where you’re coming from. I’m interested in knowing why he chose Transy, whose mission is the antithesis of what he believes and promotes.”
Jonathan Turley, professor of law at George Washington University Law School, <a href="https://jonathanturley.org/2020/09/08/aclu-official-attacks-university-for-admitting-nick-sandmann-while-professor-promises-to-monitor-his-conduct/">wrote</a> in response to the professor&#8217;s post, &#8220;[the] fact that figures in the ACLU and academia would publicly espouse such views of intolerance is a chilling example of how our faith in free speech has eroded in the recent years.&#8221; Excerpts from Turley&#8217;s response:

This is a freshman being publicly shredded by a professor at his school. Tompkins then expresses the same uncertainty why this student would pick a university dedicated to higher education and “the antithesis of what he belies and promotes.”</blockquote>

ACLU Associate Warns University Nick Sandmann A ‘Provocateur,’ ‘Dangerous.’ University Prof: ‘I Get Where You Are Coming From’

On Tuesday, the Twitter account of famed attorney L. Lin Wood, who has represented Richard Jewell, Nicholas Sandmann, Mark and Patricia McCloskey, and now Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old charged with fatally shooting two people in Kenosha, was locked for supposedly violating Twitter’s terms of service. Wood had already posted about raising money for Rittenhouse&#8217;s legal defense.
Wood, furious, told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/attorney-for-kyle-rittenhouse-locked-of-twitter-account">Fox News</a> that he intended to sue Twitter and its CEO Jack Dorsey, asserting, &#8220;I&#8217;m going to take Jack Dorsey&#8217;s ass down. He has been abusing the First Amendment of this country for his own agenda.&#8221;
Wood stated that his account was locked for &#8220;glorifying violence.&#8221; He continued, &#8220;I knew they were going to censor me because I&#8217;m sending a message of hope. I&#8217;m sending a message of truth. And I&#8217;m sending a message that Kyle Rittenhouse is innocent.&#8221;
“To the outside, Wood&#8217;s account looked like it was working normally, with no notifications or warnings on his tweets. But a screengrab of Wood&#8217;s account shared with Fox News shows his account ‘has been locked for violating the Twitter rules.’ Specifically, Wood was dinged for ‘violating our rules against glorifying violence,’” Fox News reported.
Wood stated, &#8220;Everybody thinks I&#8217;m still on it unless they know I&#8217;ve been blocked. That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re getting the word out they censored me for nine hours. I have no idea how to get back on. They didn&#8217;t give me any instructions.&#8221;
After hours had passed since the account was locked, Twitter issued a statement: &#8220;This account was incorrectly actioned. This has been reversed and the account has been reinstated.&#8221;
On Monday, Wood tweeted, “There will be total transparency on part of #FightBack Foundation. To date, 11,254 donors have donated total of $605, 550 toward the Foundation’s efforts to fund defense of Kyle Rittenhouse &amp; help support &amp; protect his family.” He added sardonically, “$0 from @Microsoft @Apple @BankofAmerica @MLB.”

“Wood said he&#8217;s been accumulating ‘a mountain of evidence’ to support a lawsuit against Twitter for discriminating against users based on political speech,” Fox News noted.
Wood first became famous when defending Richard Jewell, who was falsely suspected of bombing the Olympics in Centennial Olympic Park in 1996. Jewell was serving as a security guard when he found a backpack containing three pipe bombs; he notified police and helped evacuate the area, which saved many lives. He was first hailed as a hero, but then the FBI and law enforcement saw him as a suspect. The media pounced on the idea he was a suspect as well.
In July 1997, Clinton administration U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno noted the leak that had triggered the speculation by the media, saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m very sorry it happened. I think we owe him an apology. I regret the leak.”
