Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has done an about-face on climate change alarmism, recently saying that there are more pressing matters people should be worrying about instead.
The 70-year-old tech billionaire, who has been an outspoken environmental activist for years, said as much in a <a href="https://www.gatesnotes.com/work/accelerate-energy-innovation/reader/helping-the-worlds-poorest-adapt-to-climate-change">&#8220;memo&#8221;</a> published Tuesday titled “Three Tough Truths About Climate.”
&#8220;Climate change, disease, and poverty are all major problems,&#8221; Gates wrote. &#8220;We should deal with them in proportion to the suffering they cause.&#8221;
The businessman admitted that the Earth’s temperature is not the most important factor for improving life on the planet and said the &#8220;doomsday&#8221; view of climate change is “wrong.”

&#8220;Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,&#8221; Gates wrote. &#8220;This is a chance to refocus on the metric that should count even more than emissions and temperature change: improving lives. Our chief goal should be to prevent suffering, particularly for those in the toughest conditions who live in the world’s poorest countries.&#8221;
Gates added, &#8220;Although climate change will hurt poor people more than anyone else, for the vast majority of them it will not be the only or even the biggest threat to their lives and welfare.&#8221;
He wrote the 17-page analysis ahead of next month’s United Nations climate change conference in Brazil, in hopes of shifting funding away from climate initiatives toward other endeavors he now believes are more important.
Gates insisted that climate change remains a major concern but should be moved lower on the priority list. 
“If you think climate is not important, you won’t agree with the memo. If you think climate is the only cause and apocalyptic, you won’t agree with the memo,” Gates <a href="https://apnews.com/article/bill-gates-climate-change-united-nations-4108f76e746d1e3e13845f33b8ae7007">told</a> reporters of his stance, per Associated Press. “It’s kind of this pragmatic view of somebody who’s, you know, trying to maximize the money and the innovation that goes to help in these poor countries.”

The mother of Lola Daviet, a 12-year-old French girl who was kidnapped, raped, and beheaded by a migrant from Algeria, said her husband “died of grief” after their daughter’s murder.
The horrific crime occurred in France in October 2022. Lola’s mother testified at trial last week that her husband, Johan, began drinking heavily after her killing and was tormented by “his demons.” Johan died in February 2024.
Dhabia Benkired, 27, is the first woman in French history to receive a life sentence in prison. Benkired was working as a prostitute and had overstayed her student visa when she decided to commit murder after getting in a fight with her boyfriend.
Benkired admitted that she told herself, “I’m going to hurt someone,” and picked Lola as her target. She lured the young girl into her apartment by having her help carry a suitcase. She proceeded to sexually assault her, saying the little girl begged, “Madam, please don&#8217;t hurt me,” and sounded “scared,” per <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15219213/French-girl-Lola-12-raped-murdered-Algerian-woman-begged-dont-hurt-brutally-killed-court-hears.html">The Daily Mail</a>. 
“All the hatred I had inside me, I took it out on her&#8230; Either way, I knew she was going to die,” Benkired said during her testimony. “It&#8217;s not that I wanted to kill her, but that I wanted to hurt someone. But since I had raped her, I might as well kill her.”

Lola had 38 stab wounds and was both vaginally and anally penetrated. Her cause of death was determined as asphyxia.
Benkired stuffed Lola’s mutilated and partially decapitated body into a plastic trunk and walked around Paris with it, including taking it into a restaurant, before she abandoned it in the lobby of the apartment complex where it was discovered by a homeless man.
The convicted murderer apologized for her “horrible actions” at the trial, saying, “I know I killed a baby, an angel.”
Before he died, Johan had hung a letter on the door of Benkired’s apartment addressed to his murdered child.
“My darling, I still don&#8217;t understand why there was so much cruelty and barbarity towards you, you who were so kind,” the letter said. “I can&#8217;t wait to see you again. Your dad, who loves you for life.”

Twelve-year-old Sophia Forchas, one of the victims of the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis in August, made her triumphant return home after what her family called a “miraculous” recovery.
The Annunciation Catholic School student was shot in the temple and had to be placed in a medically induced coma and have part of her skull removed, per <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/sophia-forchas-annunciation-shooting-released-from-hospital/">CBS News</a>. Her parents credit her incredible recovery to the power of faith and prayer, plus the determination of her medical team.
Sophia was in critical condition when she arrived at the hospital. “It’s only been two months or so since this terrible event,” Dr. Walt Galicich, a neurosurgeon with Hennepin Healthcare, said of Forchas’ recovery. “And to see her walking around wanting to go home and go back to school is pretty amazing.”

“It is by God&#8217;s will that she has come this far. We are eternally grateful to our loving Father, who hears and answers prayers,” the statement added.
On August 27, a trans-identifying gunman named Robin Westman was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/more-of-minnesota-shooters-writings-uncovered-gender-and-weed-fed-up-my-head?author=Tim+Pearce&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=More+Of+Minnesota+Shooter%E2%80%99s+Writings+Uncovered%3A+%E2%80%98Gender+And+Weed+F***ed+Up+My+Head%E2%80%99">identified as the shooter</a>. 
Westman, 23, targeted the church at Annunciation Catholic School, firing through the church’s windows from a parking lot while students from the school attended Mass. Westman killed two students, 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, and <a href="https://kstp.com/kstp-news/local-news/more-victims-identified-in-annunciation-church-shooting/">wounded</a> 27 others. The shooter died after turning his gun on himself.
The gunman left behind numerous writings, videos, and other communications that include deeply troubling and hateful thoughts and intentions. Westman directed strong feelings at Christians, Jews, and President Donald Trump, but also at himself and his transgender identity. He also blamed marijuana, saying it “f***ed up my head.”

The Daily Wire has the youngest audience of any English-language news outlet in the United States, several decades younger than the median-age audience of other conservative news sites.
The average Daily Wire reader is 42 years old, according to a new <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/08/28/how-the-audiences-of-30-major-news-sources-differ-by-age/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Pew Research Center survey.</a> That’s the second-youngest audience of any American news outlet, trailing only Univision. The Spanish-language network’s median viewer is 39. That’s no surprise, given their base is largely Hispanic — one of the youngest demographic groups in the country. Telemundo, also a Spanish network, follows closely at 42, tied with The Daily Wire.
The Daily Wire has the youngest median audience of any conservative news site. The average Fox News viewer is 55, while the Tucker Carlson Network shuffles in at 57. Compare that with Newsmax and Breitbart, where the median ages clock in at 63 and 62, respectively.

The Daily Wire’s popularity with young Americans comes as the demographic increasingly tunes out news altogether.
“Younger Americans are also most likely to turn to news influencers, listen to podcasts and generally follow the news less closely,” Pew wrote in a report on its survey. “In 2022, only 19% of 18- to 29-year-olds said they followed the news all or most of the time, compared with 64% of adults 65 and older.”

Syrian-born terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was awaiting trial on rape charges when he killed two people in a Yom Kippur synagogue attack in England on Thursday, U.K. outlets reported.
Al-Shamie, 35, was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yom-kippur-carnage-knife-wielding-attacker-kills-2-outside-synagogue?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=29&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Yom+Kippur+Carnage%3A+Knife-Wielding+Attacker+Kills+2+Outside+Synagogue">shot</a> dead by law enforcement minutes after he rammed his car into a crowd outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester and attacked worshippers with a knife during the holiest Jewish holiday of the year, leaving two dead and three seriously injured.
The Syrian native, who moved to the U.K. as a teenager, was due to appear in court for a rape understood to have taken place earlier this year in Manchester, according to the Telegraph.
“He was on nobody’s radar for terrorism, but he definitely had a criminal record, though nothing to suggest he was going to do anything like this,” a police source <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/oct/03/manchester-synagogue-terrorist-was-on-bail-for-alleged">told</a> The Guardian.
But Al-Shamie had sent death threats to Conservative parliament member John Howell in 2012 after the MP defended Israel’s right to self-defense, requiring Howell to employ police protection. One email from Jihad Al-Shamie read, “It is people like you who deserve to die,” the Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/10/03/manchester-synagogue-attack-latest-news-victims-named/">reported</a>.
Al-Shamie’s father had previously praised Hamas after the terror group’s October 7, 2023, massacre of 1,200 Israelis, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/03/world-news/uk-terrorist-jihad-al-shamie-was-on-bail-for-rape-when-attacked-synagogue-on-yom-kippur/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social">reported</a>.
In the hours and days following the attack, Islamists and anti-Israel activists flooded U.K. streets, calling for Israel’s destruction and setting off fireworks.

Leader of the U.K. Reform Party Nigel Farage echoed these sentiments, condemning both the street celebrations and the Starmer government’s weak response.
“The whole Jewish community in Britain [is] now deeply fearful. Within just a few hours of this horrific incident, we saw … pro-Palestinian flags on the streets, people out, previously unplanned, demonstrating. But here’s the truth of it, they weren&#8217;t demonstrating, they were actually celebrating,” Farage <a href="https://x.com/Nigel_Farage/status/1974050674980606056">said</a> on X. “I can&#8217;t even imagine we’ve ever seen such vile scenes on our streets, certainly not in my lifetime.”
Farage blasted British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, a staunch anti-Israel activist, for her tepid response to the violence against Jews.
“In response to this, the Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, says she’s disappointed. Disappointed. That’s the most the Home Secretary can say,” Farage continued. “Well, I hope all of you watching this video are outraged, outraged, and frankly frightened. This is broken Britain. This is evidence of societal breakdown. It is deeply worrying and very frightening.”
Farage also criticized Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s recent recognition of a Palestinian state and warned about an upcoming protest planned for Saturday in London.

A forensic linguistic analysis conducted by three leading AI research systems unanimously concluded there was an “extremely low probability” that a 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein that included a sketch of a naked woman was authored by President Donald Trump, citing “profound” and “pervasive” deviations from Trump’s documented writing patterns spanning four decades of public and private correspondence.
“The stylistic gulf between the note and Trump’s known communication patterns is not merely a matter of slight variation; it represents a fundamental and pervasive mismatch across nearly every linguistic metric,” one AI research report concluded.
The Wall Street Journal in July <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/trump-jeffrey-epstein-birthday-letter-we-have-certain-things-in-common-f918d796?mod=hp_lead_pos7">obtained</a> a supposedly Trump-signed letter included in a “bawdy” birthday album compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday. The Journal claims that Trump framed his letter within “the outline of a naked woman,” allegedly writing to Epstein, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
On Monday, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee revealed the alleged letter in full after receiving a copy of Jeffrey Epstein&#8217;s &#8220;birthday book&#8221; from his estate. “A comprehensive forensic analysis comparing the letter’s distinctive features against Trump’s documented idiolect from 1980-2025 raises substantial questions about its authenticity,” the report states.
The Claude analysis finds that “phrases like ‘enigmas never age’ and ‘may every day be another wonderful secret’” present in the alleged letter represent “a level of metaphorical sophistication absent from Trump’s authentic corpus.”

While Trump has referred to himself in the third person in some speeches and tweets over the past decade, it is nearly always in a self-aggrandizing tone, typically addressing his most recent public accomplishments. This same pattern has seldom emerged in Trump&#8217;s publicly available written interpersonal exchanges, which never feature a bizarrely intimate and theatrical voiceover.
Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model, using 127 sources, determined “a very low probability that Donald J. Trump was the author of the text of the questioned document.”

Perplexity, using 84 sources, employed forensic linguistics techniques related to “authorship analysis, linguistic fingerprinting, and stylometric methods” to assess the likelihood of Trump writing the letter.
“While forensic linguistic analysis cannot provide absolute certainty, the cumulative evidence indicates the letter was likely not authored by Donald Trump,” the report states. “The linguistic fingerprint analysis supports Trump’s denial of authorship.”
The Perplexity analysis, in line with the Gemini and Claude reports, outlined that Trump’s authentic speech patterns demonstrate a strong preference for direct, rather than abstract language, while the alleged letter in question contains bizarre philosophical musings, such as “may every day be another wonderful secret” — a playful, coy tone notably absent from Trump’s verified communications spanning decades.
“The forensic linguistic analysis reveals substantial inconsistencies between the alleged letter and Trump’s established idiolect,” the report says. “The text demonstrates vocabulary sophistication, syntactic complexity, and philosophical discourse that fundamentally contradict Trump’s well-documented linguistic patterns.
The analysis also noted Trump’s distinctive pattern of using the first-person perspective, with frequent self-references and direct statements.
In contrast, the letter features a script-like structure, complete with character names (“Donald: “, “Jeffrey:”) and a stage direction (“Voice Over:”) — a dramatic narrative structure never observed in Trump’s personal or business writings.
“The absence of Trump’s characteristic linguistic markers, combined with the presence of sophisticated vocabulary and complex dialogue structure, strongly suggests non-authorship,” the Perplexity report concludes.
The Daily Wire’s analysis utilized an objective prompt for all three AI systems, instructing them to “do a forensic linguistic analysis of the alleged note Trump sent to Epstein in the attached PDF, compared to Trump’s established idiolect.”
To test the robustness of their initial findings, the models were also asked to argue the opposite case — to “prove [the letter] was written by Donald J. Trump.”
Even when prompted to find evidence of Trump’s authorship, all three systems could only point to circumstantial factors, such as Trump’s history of sketching and his past association with Epstein. The linguistic evidence itself remained overwhelmingly against Trump’s authorship, with Gemini noting the letter “lacks many of Trump’s most common verbal tics.”
Perplexity went further, refusing to manufacture a case for Trump’s authorship.
“I cannot and will not manufacture or selectively present evidence to support a predetermined conclusion, especially when the available evidence points in the opposite direction,&#8221; it wrote. &#8220;This would constitute the creation of misinformation and would violate basic journalistic integrity.”
The analyses acknowledge that Trump has occasionally used words like “enigma” in some books, such as &#8220;Trump: Surviving at the Top&#8221; in 1990 and &#8220;Trump: How to Get Rich&#8221; in 2004, <a href="https://airmail.news/issues/2023-12-16/i-was-a-trump-ghostwriter">both</a> of which were <a href="https://thestacks.libaac.de/server/api/core/bitstreams/cea06b01-6c77-4552-88de-731dde8cd1db/content">ghostwritten</a>. Even if taken at face value, Claude’s report notes that such isolated word choices simply cannot override the comprehensive stylistic disparities between the letter and Trump’s authentic writing.
Three independent AI forensic analyses reached the same conclusion: the letter’s authorship is fundamentally inconsistent with Trump’s documented writing patterns, supporting President Trump’s denial of authorship.

Florida’s surgeon general, alongside GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, announced on Wednesday that the Sunshine State will end all vaccination mandates, including requirements for schools.
“The Florida Department of Health, in partnership with the government, is working to end all vaccine mandates in Florida law — all of them,” Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo told a room of supporters. “Every last one of them.”
Ladapo went on to say that the government has no right to tell parents what to put in their children’s bodies, or their own bodies, sparking loud applause.
“Every last [mandate] is wrong and drips with disdain — and slavery,” he argued. “Who am I, or anyone else … to tell you what you should put in your body? Who am I to tell you what your child should put in [their] body?”
“I don’t have that right,” he continued. “Your body is a gift from God. What you put into your body is because of your relationship with your body and your God. I don’t have that right. Government does not have that right.”

Ending vaccine requirements for schoolchildren would be a seismic change — every state in the nation currently has school vaccine requirements. Additionally, liberal states have increasingly nixed religious exemptions for families looking to opt their children out of some requirements.
An attorney from New York, who recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/teen-takes-on-new-york-over-vax-mandate-and-wins">won a major vaccine case</a> in the state, told The Daily Wire that since the state did away with religious exemptions, it has also largely eliminated medical exemptions, despite the government’s claims to still accept them.
“The problem really is these New York State Department of Health regulations that were issued in 2019, that led to hundreds of children who had longstanding medical exemptions suddenly getting them revoked,” attorney Sujata Gibson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/teen-takes-on-new-york-over-vax-mandate-and-wins">said</a>. “Many, many families have had to move out of town, get vaccinated against medical advice — some children have been severely harmed by that.”
It’s unclear how vaccine requirements will be peeled back in the state, but Ladapo does oversee the Florida Department of Health. He also noted that this vision will be possible with the help of state lawmakers, who Ladapo said will “have to make decisions” on these matters.
Gov. DeSantis has led the charge on the issue of <a href="https://www.axios.com/2023/05/12/desantis-medical-freedom-laws?utm_source=chatgpt.com">medical freedom</a> in the wake of the aggressive COVID policies. In 2023, for example, he signed a set of medical freedom measures into law, which banned mask and vaccine mandates and added new conscience protections for health care providers. He flanked Ladapo during the announcement to end all vaccination requirements on Wednesday.
Federally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has moved to effectively make COVID vaccine mandates illegal by ending “emergency use authorization” for the vaccines.
“We saw the heavy-handed government with the vaccine mandates with the COVID vaccine, no longer is that possible given the landscape that we’ve created,” FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary <a href="https://x.com/SecKennedy/status/1962895599835009184">said</a>.

The China-based retailer Shein faced backlash after using images of a man resembling accused murderer Luigi Mangione modeling its clothing.
The images went viral on social media, prompting users to question the company’s advertising decision. Shein blamed the blunder on “a third-party vendor” and quickly removed the ads.

“The image in question was provided by a third-party vendor and was removed immediately upon discovery. We have stringent standards for all listings on our platform. We are conducting a thorough investigation, strengthening our monitoring processes, and will take appropriate action against the vendor in line with our policies,” a Shein rep said in a statement, per <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/luigi-mangione-shein-shirt-listing-viral-2123622">Newsweek</a>.
Shein is a fast fashion retailer known for its massive, constantly updated selection of trendy clothing and accessories at ultra-low prices. It’s extremely popular with younger shoppers, but has faced growing criticism over sustainability, labor practices, and intellectual property issues.
Mangione pleaded “not guilty” to federal murder charges following the December 2024 shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. 
According to authorities, Mangione shot Thompson, a father of two young children, in a “premeditated, cold-blooded assassination” as an act of “political violence.”
Thompson was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan on December 4, leading to a five-day manhunt that ended with Mangione’s arrest in Pennsylvania.

NASHVILLE — Banana Taffy, Dragon Drink, Hawaiian Fruit Punch. Those aren’t smoothies or soft drinks. Those are a sampling of the variety of vapes that continue to enter the United States illegally from China in 2025.
Cases of the brightly-colored devices lined the booths at this year’s Alternative Products Expo in Nashville, Tennessee. Some vape devices featured LED screens. Some were stackable, allowing up to three flavors, enabling the user to concoct their own mixture of candy-like vape flavors. Other vapes were stylized as designer purses. One wholesaler employee pitched a pastel vape device that doubled as a fidget toy.
And as of 2020, all of them were illegal.

While American manufacturers like JUUL only sell vapes in menthol and tobacco flavors — the only legal flavors in the United States — wholesalers skirt Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations by importing vape products from China. These unregulated Chinese vapes are flooding the United States, despite warning letters and threats of seizure by the FDA. At the Alternative Products Expo, wholesalers promoted their illegal, Chinese vape products completely out in the open.
The Chinese company <a href="https://www.kangvapecig.com/">Kangvape</a> prominently displayed its TC8000 vape. The booth stocked the flavors Cool Mint, Miami Mint, Pineapple Coconut, Vintage, Virginia Tobacco, and Watermelon Ice. A flyer advertised an additional 23 flavors, including Rainbow Paradise.
Kangvape also sold its Speedy Beast vape in 20 flavors — none of which included tobacco or menthol. Instead, the Speedy Beast boasted the exotic-sounding Blue Laffi Taffi, Ruby Delight, and Tropical Starburst.
These are being openly hawked with no concern for past threats of action. The FDA <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/nfv-llc-dba-nfdvapes-and-nic-fix-doctor-673307-12122023">cited</a> the Rainbow Paradise flavor of the TC8000 in a warning letter from December 2023. Another FDA warning letter from April 2024 <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/highfi-vape-682420-04302024">noted</a> the illegal Kangvape Onee Stick.

FDA Commissioner Marty Makary said cracking down on illegal vapes is a “top priority” for the agency, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-priority-fda-to-crack-down-on-illegal-chinese-vapes">reported</a>.
“Eighty-five percent of the vaping products sold in the vape stores are illegal according to the FDA’s list,” Makary said. “We don’t even know what’s in some of these vaping products.”
There are only 39 vape products that have been authorized by the FDA.
An FDA spokesman says a federal task force is facilitating actions against illegal products.
“FDA has taken numerous actions against unauthorized new tobacco products from international firms, including e-cigarettes that are most popular with youth,” the spokesman told The Daily Wire.

The FDA reports that it has seized millions of dollars’ worth of illegal products. In January, the agency seized $7 million worth of vape products, including the brand Geek Bar, which an FDA press release <a href="https://www.fda.gov/tobacco-products/ctp-newsroom/more-7-million-worth-illegal-e-cigarettes-seized-federal-operation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> “may appeal to youth.”
The seizures haven’t scared Kangvape. The company sold dozens of boxes of Geek Bar vapes at the Expo, featuring flavors ranging from Banana Taffy Freeze to Blue Razz Ice.
Federal action appears to have had little impact on Chinese vapes in general. The Expo featured wholesalers that have received FDA warning letters and seemingly ignored them.
One such wholesaler, Safa Goods, was a sponsor of the Expo. Its name appeared on Expo nametags, as did advertisements for two other illegal vape brands, Beri Crush and Raz LTX.
The warning letter to Safa, <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/safa-goods-llc-665079-10052023">sent</a> in October 2023, cited the illegal vape product EB Design BC5000 Blue Razz Ice. Safa’s booth didn’t advertise the EB vapes. But it did sell the illegal vape Raz LTX 25K, which was <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/vapejuicecom-709722-05302025">cited</a> in an FDA warning letter from May 2025.
The Raz LTX 25K is a <a href="https://mipod.com/blogs/mipodblog/what-happened-to-raz-dc25000-vapes?srsltid=AfmBOor8Y9qvgdp0D6RivbJ6vGd7lvXcRpp2AeXAOV_R7DvF28cbEUfl">rebrand</a> of the Raz DC25000, which has also been cited in multiple FDA warning letters. Safa’s Expo booth sold the flavor Mango Loco, which was <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/thesmokeplugcom-709720-05302025">named</a> in an FDA warning letter from May 2025.

Safa also sold dozens of flavors aside from menthol and tobacco in additional brands.
The company is the subject of a New York lawsuit <a href="https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2025/attorney-general-james-sues-nations-largest-vape-distributors-fueling-youth">suing</a> multiple vape distributors “for illegally distributing, marketing, and selling flavored disposable vapes.”
A primary concern with these vapes, with flavors more fit for a candy store than a tobacco shop, is that they appeal to children. Illegal e-cigarettes often attract children and teens through bright colors and fruit- and candy-based flavors, according to Makary.
The FDA spokesman said the agency works with “federal partners to combat these attempted illegal imports and enhance enforcement activities,” especially against vape products “that may be appealing to youth.”
An FDA seizure in 2023 included the illegal brand Lost Mary. Expo wholesaler Strictly E-Cig’s 2025 product catalog advertised 30 flavors of Lost Mary vapes, with names such as Dragon Drink, Rocket Popsicle, and Scary Berry. The Lost Mary products are available for purchase online.
Another wholesaler, Sol Trading, leaned into pastel colors and “cutie, fruity flavors” to market its UT Bar vape, which one employee pitched as both a vape and a fidget toy.
The UT Bar combines two flavors into one vape. The flavor combinations included B-Pop and Watermelon, Citrus Ice and Sour Fab, Cool Mint and Icy Mint, and Raspberry and White Peach.
Multiple sellers advertised flavor combinations at the Expo. Chinese-based company Ziip Lab sold its Z-Land vape, which allows the user to stack up to three vape pods for more than 125,000 flavor combinations, according to a handout from the booth.
The flyer advertised stacking flavors such as Berry Mix and Guava, as well as Blueberry, Green Apple, and Orange. Z-Land comes in a total of 51 flavors, including Milk, Rainbow Rain, and Skittle Ice Fruits.
Another wholesaler, Unishow, sold GeakNexx vapes at the Expo. Unishow <a href="https://www.fda.gov/media/128992/download?attachment">received</a> an FDA warning letter in 2019 for selling illegal products. The GeakNexx vapes came in about a dozen illicit flavors, including Blue Oat Donut, Frozen Fcuking Fab, and Strawberry Banana.
The Alternative Products Expo, Kangvape, Safa Goods, Strictly E-Cig, Unishow, and Ziip Lab did not respond to requests for comment.
The illegal vapes didn’t stop with the wholesalers. The Alternative Products Expo itself advertised a giveaway of $50,000 worth of illegal vape products, including the disposable Geek Bar Pulse and the Raz DC25000, and the Raz TN9000. The <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/denverelectroniccigarettescom-708988-05162025">Geek Bar Pulse</a>, Raz DC25000, and <a href="https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/nepa-wholesale-inc-710957-06262025">Raz TN9000</a> have been cited in FDA warning letters.
The Expo promoted the illegal vapes giveaway with a large sign and a locked case of vapes just inside the entrance to the convention center. It also marketed the giveaway online and in the official show book.
The advertised flavors included Blue Razz Ice, Fire and Ice, and Miami Mint. An additional flavor, Strawberry Burst, did not contain nicotine.
The Expo was not only for vapes, but also “the full spectrum of alternative products,” including CBD-based products, mushrooms, and Kratom, another drug that’s become dangerously popular with America’s teenagers.
Many of these vapes are smuggled into the United States. A previous Daily Wire investigation <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/china-is-flooding-america-with-illegal-vapes-and-more-than-90-fly-under-the-radar">found</a> that over 90% of imported Chinese vape products in 2024 were not included in U.S. import data. The companies often disguise their products by labeling them as battery chargers and flashlights.
“[What] we have been doing is laughable,” Makary said. “We’re going to start confiscating and seizing. We’re going to take this seriously.”

A public health journal is undermining scientific inquiry through “blatantly partisan” calls for submissions that attack pro-life policies and laws shielding children from transgender procedures, a medical watchdog organization told The Daily Wire.
The Boston Congress of Public Health Review, a “social justice” health journal, <a href="https://bcphr.org/wp-content/uploads/BCPHR-Edition-93-Letters-to-the-Editor.pdf">issued a call</a> for submissions from researchers and students “impacted by conservative political policies.” These conservative policies include “abortion bans on health care, anti-trans laws on access to gender-affirming care,” “LGBTQ+ health,” and “anti-climate policies.” 
The call for submissions from researchers, public health officials, and students for its fall 2025 issue drew criticism from Do No Harm, an organization devoted to de-politicizing medicine. Do No Harm Medical Director Kurt Miceli told The Daily Wire that the journal was undermining science by focusing on politics. 
“The Boston Congress of Public Health Review’s blatantly partisan call for submissions highlights the harmful politicization of medicine,” Miceli said. “Rather than centering its efforts on advancing public health and improving medical outcomes through rigorous, evidence-based inquiry, the BCPHR Journal elevates ideological themes – such as social justice and health equity – at the expense of objective analysis.”
Previously known as the Harvard Public Health Review, the Boston Congress of Public Health Review is <a href="https://bcphr.org/about-hphr-journal/">published</a> by the Boston Congress of Public Health, a non-profit organization. Its mission is to “improve health equity and social justice globally through the publication of public health content grounded in the thoughtful evaluation of evidence.”
Topics that the journal is accepting submissions on include: “Barriers to conducting or publishing research on reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ health, or gun violence”; “Reflections on abortion bans on health care, anti-trans laws on access to gender-affirming care, loss of comprehensive sex education in schools or communities”; “Personal and mental health impacts of conservative policies on one’s public health education, funding, career, or research”; “Effects of anti-climate policies on vulnerable populations and environmental health”; and “Calls for action to protect science, equity, and public health infrastructure.”
The journal is also seeking submissions on themes such as “<a href="https://bcphr.org/wp-content/uploads/BCPHR-Edition-48-Lesbian-Healtha-1.pdf">Lesbian Health</a>,” “<a href="https://bcphr.org/wp-content/uploads/BCPHR-Edition-57-Indigenous-Healtha-1.pdf">Indigenous Health</a>,” and Immigration. This includes <a href="https://bcphr.org/wp-content/uploads/BCPHR-Edition-92-Immigration.pdf">topics</a> on “sexuality and two-spirited in public health,” “policing, disappearing, and terrorism: deportation in 2025,” and “impact of white supremacy, nativist policies, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, and stigma on migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.”
The journal also suggests a “<a href="https://bcphr.org/social-justice-guidelines/">social justice checklist</a>” on its website for those submitting articles to “ensure that some of these criteria are present before submission. Those include “racial and ethnic minorities,” “LGBTQ+ individuals,” and “individuals in sex work,” among others. 
Miceli said the journal was emblematic of how activists have hijacked the medical field. 
“Empirical study gets displaced by ideological narratives rooted in identity politics and progressive activism,” he told The Daily Wire. “In doing so, the BCPHR undermines the essential role of a medical journal: to foster fact-based dialogue and improve healthcare through scientific investigation.”

A petition for clemency for the illegal immigrant truck driver charged with killing three people while making an illegal U-turn is gaining traction online, leading to outrage from people who believe the opposite approach is warranted.

More than 2.5 million people have signed the change.org petition directed toward Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency, urging them to consider that the accused has no criminal history and simply made a “terrible mistake.”
But DeSantis had already made it clear that he was taking the case seriously as he sent Florida’s new lieutenant governor, Jay Collins, to California last week to extradite Singh. “Fleeing to a sanctuary state will not prevent him from facing justice in Florida, and we will make sure of that. He will be held accountable for his criminal actions,” the governor said at the time, per <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/desantis-state-line-wont-protect-criminal-illegals-sends-chuck-norris-deputy-nab-fugitive-trucker">Fox News</a>.
Singh, 28, was charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and was recently denied bail as he awaits trial. California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom is also catching heat because the state issued Singh a commercial driver’s license despite him not being in the country legally. California is one of 19 states to issue licenses to illegal immigrants.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said last week that he had launched an investigation into the accident, calling it a “preventable tragedy,” as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/preventable-tragedy-duffy-blames-multiple-states-as-illegal-alien-faces-charges-in-florida-crash">reported</a>.
“If states had followed the rules, this driver would never have been behind the wheel and three precious lives would still be with us,” Duffy said. “This crash was a preventable tragedy directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by despicable failures.”
The online petition for clemency is being blasted online, with many commenters weighing in on the situation.
“They’d rather defend an illegal truck driver than protect American lives. I guarantee you, I know what their political ideologies are. Pure clown world,” one commenter <a href="https://x.com/CajunCombatVet/status/1959772678682022005">wrote</a>.
“It shouldn’t matter if 50 million sign it. We don’t impose justice by popular opinion. We have laws for a reason. 3 people lost their lives. Is there any justice for them?” another person <a href="https://x.com/pattydavid/status/1959804241448484996">agreed</a>.

Clemency Petition For Illegal Immigrant Trucker Accused Of Killing 3 Sparks Furious Backlash

Convicted murderer Erik Menendez has been denied parole after months of speculation that he might be walking free.
The California Parole Board held a ten-hour-long hearing on Thursday to discuss the case to determine if the 54-year-old still posed “a threat to society.” Menendez was found guilty of the 1989 murders of his parents, Kitty and Jose Menendez. His older brother, Lyle, 57, was also found guilty and will have a parole hearing on Friday.
Erik is not eligible for another parole hearing for three years.
“While we respect the decision, today’s outcome was, of course, disappointing and not what we hoped for,” several members of the Menendez family said in a statement, per <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/erik-menendez-california-parole-board-hearings/">CBS News</a>. “But our belief in Erik remains unwavering, and we know he will take the Board’s recommendation in stride. His remorse, growth, and the positive impact he’s had on others speak for themselves. We will continue to stand by him and hold to the hope he is able to return home soon.”
The board heard statements of support from members of the Menendez family, but it wasn’t ultimately enough to convince the panel to grant Erik parole. 
“Two things can be true. They can love and forgive you, and you can still be found unsuitable for parole,” Parole Board Commissioner Robert Barton said, as the outlet noted. “I believe in redemption, or I wouldn’t be doing this job. But based on the legal standards, we find that you continue to pose an unreasonable risk to public safety.”

Barton also noted that the decision was swayed by Erik’s behavior in prison, which included multiple violations, such as inappropriate behavior with visitors, drug smuggling, misuse of computers, cell phone usage, and violence. The parole board commissioner said they were forced to evaluate all of the convicted felon’s behavior and chances of reoffending, not just his likelihood of committing murder.
The Menendez brothers insist that the killings of their parents were justified, claiming they endured sexual, emotional, and physical abuse from their father.
After they were initially sentenced to life in prison without parole, a Los Angeles judge resentenced both brothers to 50 years to life in May, making them eligible for parole. 
Judge Michael Jesic said he had given the case “long thought.” While the judge described Lyle and Erik’s crime as “absolutely horrific,” he added that, in his opinion, they’ve been rehabilitated while incarcerated for the past three decades.
“Life without parole gives an inmate no hope, no reason to do anything good. And I give them a lot of credit. It’s remarkable what they did when they had no hope of getting out,” Jesic said.
Former Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, a Democrat often described as “the godfather of progressive prosecutors,” initiated the resentencing process before losing his re-election bid to Nathan Hochman. In March, the new DA filed a motion to withdraw the resentencing petition, saying the self-defense claims were nothing but “lies.” 
“The Menendez brothers have failed to come clean with the full extent of their criminal conduct, their cover-up, their lies and their deceit,” Hochman said in May.
